That sounds super cool! Doom is one of my favorite games of all time and while I'm not a modder for it, I love seeing the crazy shit people make with the game. I know this thread hasn't been posted in for a month or so but I'd like to give it a bump anyways; here's to finding a cool project to work on, OP.

Blinking Light Win. Use Google.

Only good 72-pin replacement known to exist.

Always works, high-quality, and even multi-regions the console without damage (no need to clip pins).

Also completely reversible.

The Arcade game, is there really any contesting that?

Almost all of the games were terrible, the Nes ones were all awful in their own way with Krusty's Funhouse atleast being unusual, the Gameboy versions were unplayable, the SNES games were bland at best and Simpsons Wrestling was an unbelievably boring button masher.

Yeah, I agree with this. It is one of their weaker arcade beat em ups. But still an alright game.

I kinda liked Krusty's Fun House on the SNES. But Krusty's Fun House was just a Commodore Amiga game with the Simpson's license slapped onto it.

It's been years since I've played Corom, but here's a little of what I remember;

-Don't waste your money on Link and Plate Armor, just save up to buy the Magic Armor as soon as possible.

-Same with the Long and Broad Sword, you'll find the Magic Sword pretty early in the game.

-Since the only thing you really need to buy is the Magic Armor, once you have it you can spend any other gold you find on Salves and Blast and Hammer spells.

-This is the one I'm least sure of, but I think there is no maximum Strength, so rather than waiting until your Strength gets low, just use all Heal spells as soon as you get them.

 No.7520

Because there's so damn many of them. The way the game calculates random encounters is super shitty and primitive. You can literally take one step and end up in a battle, win, take another step and immediately end up in another battle.

To put it into reference, the first final fantasy game has a ~25 step minimum before the next encounter. Mother has none

It doesn't help that you have very limited combat abilities for the first few hours of the game, especially before Magicant. Ninten has no offensive PSI, making most battles before you get Lloyd unnecessarily frustrating and/or long

>unbearable because of the random battles?

It's because the game is designed that way. Very intentionally, it's an uphill battle against all odds. Seriously, have you even played the game?

Mother 3 is pretty fucking good at hammering that point home. Some people die, but it is for the "good of all" bullshit, but it is supposed to be unfair and hard. You personally grinding for levels or gear does not matter. Play the game as it is. Maybe the grind was supposed to be horrible part of the story?

Sorry for the webm.

I disagree. I think that games should be fun even if they're an uphill struggle. Honestly Mother 1 and 2 were much might lighthearted and heartfelt experiences. I didn't have a problem with the encounter rate in Mother 1; hell it's one of the several games I consider to be a masterpiece. It's definitely not to just make the game seem like a struggle because I doubt that was the intention for Mother 1 at all; it's just the game being an NESRPG.

Whatever happened to the adventure genre? These days it's nothing but goddamn dialog wheels and cinematics. No longer are you just a dude with a sword saving the world from some asshole where the only helpful people tell you where to find the next magical trinket to advance.

The PS1 was full of these, the PS2 had quite a few but it fell out of fashion. I would say Dork souls is the modern version of them but it's distinctly different in how closed and linear everything is. There's no exploration of an area to see where you can get, it dropped all the 3D platformer elements entirely.

What's your favourite retro swash buckling game?

>Whatever happened to the adventure genre?

The adventure genre lives from puzzles and as we can now the mainstream is to stupid/lazy and doesn't have the patience to solve puzzles.

Additionally making a game with good puzzles takes time and so its much easier for the industry to produce skinner boxes to dazzle the masses.

At last there is the fact that adventure games have in the past been used to promote graphics and technology in gaming, but they lost that function to FPS games.

Almost no modern action-adventures have dialog wheels. Are you sure you're not thinking of RPGs like Mass Effect and Fallout New Vegas?

Also, wouldn't Dark Souls and Breath of the Wild fit perfectly into what you want? You're a dude, you have a sword and lust for exploration. Go on a journey.

Duke has a good campaign and is fun to play ironman, unlike Blood which demands save scumming on the higher difficulties. I mostly play solo so it gets my pick. Blood has snappier gameplay though, and is a lot better in multi.

I would like to have a thread where we could post all kind of documentaries, newsreel stories, footage of early video game tournaments, video game "cameos" in 80's or 90's movies, early video trade shows or promotional VHS tapes. In summary, anything that would instill nostalgia to those who lived those days and also attest that video games were starting to become serious business.

Scott Pilgrimfags aside, Clash at Demonhead is one of my favorite single-player games on the system. A lot of it does admittedly come from nostalgia and fondness for its presentation over the actual gameplay. Some of my favorites as far as gameplay goes are Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and Kung Fu, but those are pretty obvious.

I don't really know what counts as a lesser-known game anymore with freely available ROMs and boards like this one, but StarTropics, Faxanadu, and Golgo 13 are worth checking out.

If you're looking for fun multiplayer games, there's Yoshi's Cookie, Trog!, and Baseball Stars. North & South is really good for that purpose but way too expensive.

I'm not sure what the prices are for these games nowadays, either.

All platformers. First one has a fucking fun multiplayer mode where you have to collect more bones in a level than your opponent - and you have 60 seconds to do it. There is five levels and who has more bones together wins. There is also SP mode which is nothing out of ordinary.

Kamen - Here is a unique one; no swords or guns - you throw a bird to damage enemies. There is a card game after every few levels, where you have to kill the boss by using higher-numbered cards than him. During the levels you can find cards that will double or triple your damage output (some are hidden). High variety of levels and enemies. Great soundtrack too. Highly recommended.

Kabuki - this time you fight with your HAIR. There are power-ups like bombs that you can use too. This one is more straightforward, but I still like it.

IMO, get Kamen if you would choose one of these. There is also an American remake - Yo Noid - which is just much worse. Though the levels are the same, the whole concept has been fucked. Graphics and soundtrack are much shittier.

I'm seconding Kabuki. It's a great action platformer for people who like stuff like Ninja Gaiden but want to play something else.

I think the cost might have jumped up a bit since the Cinemassacre video came out a while ago, but it shouldn't be too bad.

What are some vr games that have religious themes. Extra points for ultimate sacrilege!!!

Anything is fine though. Xenogears is a good example. No matter how minute, I'm interested in games that have judeo Christian themes.

Other religious beliefs are good too. The more pronounced the better.

TY!

Jew history is what they teach in school these days. They apparently have Holocaust classes and stuff like that about why being white is evil.

Oh and none of that surprises me much. When I was a teenager (this was the 80's), I went to a private catholic school where some nuns made us watch Holocaust-related movies and other brainwashing stuff. Even the Indiana Jones movies they played had that brainwashing in them. A whole lot of stuff from Hollywood does, in fact.

Well, there's Wisdom Tree's stuff if you're desperate. Spiritual Warfare is actually a pretty decent Zelda clone. I don't think any of their other stuff for the NES is any good, though.
