Rand Paul Leads Push To Block Biden's $650 Million Arms Transfer To Saudis

The Saudi coalition war against Houthi rebels in Yemen has witnessed an uptick in intensity this past week and month, with the Houthis on Saturday saying they've launched several missile attacks on Saudi bases and oil refineries in the kingdom's south.

The timing is interesting given the Biden White House's recently announced plans to transfer at least $650 more in weaponry to Riyadh, despite prior Biden pledges to help end the war in Yemen. Specifically the proposed sale involves what's being dubiously dubbed "defensive" air-to-air missiles or AMRAAMs, as well as 596 LAU-128 missile rail launchers (MRLs).

This week, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been leading the charge seeking to kill the large missile sale to the Saudis. His office told the foreign policy D.C.-based think tanks Responsible Statecraft that "A message needs to be sent to Saudi Arabia that we don’t approve of their war in Yemen."

Dr. Anthony Fauci expressed hope this week that COVID-19 vaccinations will soon be approved for infants, toddlers, and young children.

What did Fauci say?

Although it has been just weeks since the government approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 12, Fauci said that "hopefully" the vaccine is approved for infants and young children by next spring.

"Hopefully within a reasonably short period of time, likely the beginning of next year in 2022, in the first quarter of 2022, it will be available to them," Fauci told Business Insider.

"Can't guarantee it— you've got to do the clinical trial," he added.

Pfizer seems to be the likely frontrunner in the race to vaccinate babies and toddlers, because its pediatric vaccine trials are already underway. (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are also planning to trial their COVID-19 vaccines in young kids, but Moderna is still in the recruitment phase for children in the 6 month to 6 year cohort, while J&J has had some regulatory delays, and is still testing its vaccine in 12-17 year olds.)

Pfizer-BioNTech said in September that results from their clinical trials for "children 2-5 years of age and children 6 months to 2 years of age" are expected as soon as the fourth quarter of this year.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that 605 people under age 17 in the U.S. have died from COVID-19. However, the actual number could be lower because that figure contains confirmed and "presumed" COVID cases.

Questions about Vice President Kamala Harris’s political future reached a boiling point this week, sparking discussion of the most extreme and least likely method of dislodging her from President Joe Biden’s orbit.

Fox News's Chad Pergram reported receiving a tip that he should "start to familiarize” himself “with the confirmation process not just in the Senate, but in the House, for a vice president.

Such a process exists, but there are huge logistical hurdles to overcome in executing it under the current political conditions. Biden cannot fire Harris, who is an elected constitutional officeholder in her own right rather than an appointee who serves at the pleasure of the president. She would have to resign and has little incentive to do so.

vice presidential vacancy would immediately bump both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the president pro tempore of the Senate, currently retiring Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, up in the line of presidential succession. Both officeholders, no matter which party controlled the Senate, would be older than Biden, the oldest person to be president.

The Senate is split 50-50. During any period where the office of vice president was vacant, the Democrats would be without Harris’s tiebreaking vote, which they are counting on to pass their sprawling spending bill next month and which is needed to even control the Senate.

Those same margins would become a problem in attempting to confirm Harris’s replacement if her resignation could somehow be secured. Democrats could not confirm a new vice president without Republican votes, much less those of centrist Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona within their own party. A bipartisan nominee could be necessary for Senate confirmation.

A bipartisan nominee would not be satisfactory to large factions of Democrats in the House, which also must vote to confirm a new vice president. Harris is the first woman and minority, being black and Asian American, to serve as vice president. Her ouster would not please the Congressional Black Caucus or the Congressional Asian and Pacific Islander Caucus, among other groups.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has amassed thousands of troops on the border with Ukraine and apparently doesn’t care very much what Joe Biden thinks about that.

U.S. intelligence officials are telling our European allies that the move by Putin is not a bluff and that the U.S. and Europe need to coordinate a response that includes economic and military moves.

Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines traveled to Brussels this week and briefed NATO ambassadors of the threat. The trip had been scheduled previously but the Russian buildup was a prime topic of conversation.

American and British intelligence are increasingly convinced that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia is considering military action to take control of a larger swath of Ukraine, or to destabilize the country enough to usher in a more pro-Moscow government.

American and allied officials sounded an alarm in April, as Moscow built up forces near its border with Ukraine. But the current buildup, which appears to involve more troops and sophisticated weaponry, has engendered more concerns — particularly as Russia has moved to jam Ukrainian surveillance drones. Hostilities have also spiked since Ukraine used one of its drones to attack a separatist howitzer, prompting Russia to scramble jets.

William J. Burns, director of the CIA, traveled to Moscow earlier this month to warn the Russians against attacking Ukraine. But this full-court press is falling on deaf ears. Vladimir Putin has correctly judged the situation and is likely deciding how best to proceed with his plans.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is expected to appear as a witness for the prosecution at Maxwell's trial which is due to start on November 29 and is set to be the trial of the century.

But, according to the Telegraph, it has now come to light that the woman was paid up to £40,000 to help a tabloid newspaper set up Mr Parker Bowles, son of the Duchess of Cornwall, as part of a well-publicized sting in 1999.

The newspaper reports that the incident may be brought up during Maxwell's trial as part of the defence's bid to undermine the credibility of prosecution witnesses.

Danchenko Indictment: How Dossier Non-Source Sergei Millian Was Framed

In January 2017, Igor Danchenko, a primary source for the Steele dossier, told FBI officials in a debriefing that one of his sources for derogatory information about Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia was merely an anonymous voice on the other end of a phone call that lasted 10-15 minutes.

The voice, Danchenko claimed, was someone he assumed to be Sergei Millian, an immigrant from Belarus, president and founder of an organization called the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce. As thin as that sourcing sounds, the truth appears to be worse. According to a new criminal indictment, Danchenko lied to FBI agents: There was no voice and there was no phone call. The Russian national made it all up.

Igor Danchenko: The top Steele dossier researcher was indicted for lying to the FBI, in part about the key source of the dossier's explosive Trump-Russia conspiracy claims.

Still, the FBI continued to use Danchenko’s supposed source’s claims of a “well-developed conspiracy of cooperation” between Russia and Trump to convince a secret federal court to allow investigators to electronically monitor at least one Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page, whom the FBI accused of masterminding the conspiracy based on Danchenko's dubious claims. Agents swore in court documents reviewed by RealClearInvestigations that Danchenko was “truthful and cooperative,” even after discovering he misled them regarding his allegedly well-placed source.

The combination of Danchenko reporting a “conspiracy” and the FBI vouching for his credibility persuaded the powerful Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to authorize wiretapping Page as a suspected Russian agent for almost a year. Page was never charged and is now suing the FBI and Justice Department for $75 million.

Special Counsel John Durham detailed the alleged dossier fiction in a grand jury indictment unsealed last week charging Danchenko with five felony counts of lying to the FBI — four of which relate to the invented phone call with Millian, a New York Realtor who was in reality a big fan of Trump.

“Danchenko never received such a phone call or such information from any person he believed to be [Millian], and Danchenko never made any arrangements to meet [Millian],” the indictment states. “Danchenko fabricated these facts."

Sergei Millian says his denials of being a source for the Steele dossier were dismissed by major media.

When his name first publicly surfaced in early 2017 as a key source of the dossier, Millian said he emphatically denied it in interviews with the Washington media, who were scrambling to corroborate the dossier. He showed RealClearInvestigations emails he exchanged with reporters for the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal Rosalind Helderman and Tom Hamburger from the former and Mark Maremont from the latter in which he tried to steer them off the story, insisting it was “a vicious lie” and a smear campaign against him and the incoming Republican president. But the newspapers nonetheless reported he was the source for the most explosive parts of the dossier, including the claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin had compromising sex tapes of Trump and that he and Trump were engaged in a “well-developed conspiracy” to steal the 2016 election.

Asked for comment, Maremont of the Journal responded, "I don't know you or your outlet,” then referred a reporter to media relations for his paper's publisher, Dow Jones. The Post reporters did not return requests for comment.

Although somewhat hidden last year, this year Fauci is not hiding it. As we reported earlier, Fauci showed up at Karl’s book signing party and neglected to wear a mask while there. These guys are friends in the cause to hurt President Trump.

The fact that Fauci helped support the Chinese military in biological warfare and the development of COVID-19 and he never shared this with President Trump even once shows the kind of guys Fauci and his friends are.
