-All the comic goofiness but taken seriously instead of an overly serious tone treated like a joke.

-Unique Batman costumes.

-All 4 robins working together without being drowned by melodrama over their own infighting.

-Joker is a perfect mix of serious villain & wacky nuisance.

-Multiple villains at once but doesn't feel bloated like something like Spider-man 3.

-Not another Batman story recapping the same origin with the Wayne's getting shot.

-Final fight with Joker & Batman is fantastic.

-Actually downgrades Batman to make him more than just Iron Man light.

By being outside of "DC Animated

Movie Universe" it means it can actually have some fun. And understands the core of pretty much all the characters better then a lot of writers, both for the comics, and the new movies. Only one not really understood is Damien, who was more an amalgamation of all Robins.

I'll start us off. So Deadpool got popular again in the eyes of normalfags because of the movie, right? So how is it there's no figures based on the movie version except the HotToys figure? Seems like all the ones being made sense then are only based on the Gerry Duggan design. The average person isn't the greatest thinker when it comes to popular "nerd" shit but you'd still think toy makers would prioritize using the designs of the most popular or recent version of the character.

I may have to look at it further to see that about the eyes. I never knew about that complaint. I guess with the way the body is designed for Godzilla 2019 it's inevitable the articulation is limited. Though I do like the arm articulation. It's the first SH Monsterarts figure I've bought so I'm not sure how good of an example this figure is for the rest of the line.

How bad has the animation industry really gotten? You'd think when a site like cartoonbrew publishes an article about how some newly hired Disney employee decided to leave the most corporate company on earth, it would be ignored and laughed at (its fucking disney what did she expect?). Then you have mountains of vitriolic idiots descend from out of nowhere and sperg out over something so dumb. Later major people in the industry felt the need to come out and make a statement/video on the subject.

It reminds me of a video by some ecelecb called EZ PZ, where he interviews someone supposedly blacklisted in the industry for having the "wrong views". It also got dogpiled by a similar legion of idiots spewing the same shit and that was back two years ago.

All entertainment industries have this kind of problem. I've heard similar things from my friends in the video game industry, especially in the indie scene. They're all bad but I think cartoons and comics have it worse. You've got a clique of gatekeepers that are hiring their friends and keeping the actually talented people out. Bullheaded leaders who think their shit don't stink and drive everyone in the wrong direction because of their ideology or pride. Not being able to take criticism to make changes when something doesn't work or sell. By any measure, it's a recipe for disaster and it's showing its results.

If you have a passion for something, whether it be books, games, or any other medium you're interested in, and you want to make something for it, your best bet is to do it on your own. The current ones at the top now aren't interested in you and will likely destroy you if you get out of line. You have to build up your brand and make them want to come and work for you because they won't treat you as an equal otherwise. I can't say for certain but I think there is a indie boom on the rise as the dominant players are crumbling or are beginning to collapse. Don't expect immediate success and expect a lot of failures along the way. You'll eventually get there if you try hard enough. The only other problem you might have to worry about is payment processors cutting you out since that has also been targeted by the anti-competitors.

It's been shit for a long time. Don't know if anyone has seen it, but Sting's wife documented the process behind Emperor's New Groove and it is fascinating. Disney, one of the biggest animation companies, was terrible 20 years ago and a friend of mine tells me it has only gotten worse.

To no one's surprise, High Republic is a shittier EU with diversity as one of its main goals. Also, the reveal video for it is about as corporate as it could get. Books spanning multiple companies so who knows how they'll keep continuity in check since they couldn't do it with the Disney trilogy and they scrapped the EU because they didn't want to worry about it. All pushed by Kathleen Kennedy so you know somethings bound to be cancelled for not living up to her standards.

I'd want to tell the story of what the fuck Mephisto wanted with their marriage. It would be a three issue arc. Mephisto would keep the reality where they were still married in a sealed infernal vault, and, when no one was looking, he'd go in there and pretend to be Spider-Man as a hero and Peter as a man who was loved by many people. It would be his secret shame and addiction. In the second issue of the arc, D'Spayre would find out about it and, in the third issue, would fuck with it when Mephisto was busy on Earth being a cunt. When he returned, rubbing his hands in anticipation of another session as Peter, he'd find that Maryjane wanted a divorce, that Aunt May had disowned him, and that J. Jonah Jameson had committed suicide, citing Peter's Civil War identity reveal as Spider-Man as the reason. His fun ruined, Mephisto would go on a tear, interrogating other demons like Nightmare and C'thon, before finally figuring out who the real culprit was. D'spayre, unfazed by Mephisto's anger, would threaten to reveal his activities to everyone if he didn't fuck right off. This would lead to another story arc a year or so later where Mephisto would be blackmailed by D'spayre into doing his dirty work. Meph, sick of being his flunky, would enlist Dr. Strange for help, promising him one free wish without tricks in return for helping him. Strange would demand to know what D'spayre had on him, and Mephisto would eventually 'fess up. Strange would then claim the free wish and demand Mephisto give the Parkers back their marriage. Pete and Maryjane would "finally" get married, and D'spayre would have no more leverage over Mephisto. Mephisto, impressed but annoyed that his original dickery was thwarted, would congratulate Strange on his cunning and leave. The epilogue would be stopping by the Parker nuptials to give Pete a little fatherly advice that his marriage was sacred, and that he should consider it as important as his very soul. A confused Peter thanks him as the minister informs them that it's time for them to take their places for the wedding. Strange smiles as he leaves, and Reed Richards asks him what that was all about.
