Since the 1980s, there has been a very good device for treating drug addiction (without prescribing pharmaceuticals) and it was suppressed basically because the drug treatment centers would have lost so much money due to the device's ability to shorten the length of time patients had to stay in the rehab center. (And also because the patients usually wouldn't return after getting re-addicted.)
