IDF Strikes Lebanon After Hezbollah Joins War

March 2, 2026

The Hezbollah terror group launched rockets and drones into northern Israel early this morning — the first time it has done so since 2024.

The Times of Israel reports that the IDF responded with strikes in the Lebanese capital of Beirut and in the Dahiyeh suburb, known as a Hezbollah stronghold.

Hezbollah had previously stated that it would attack only if Iran’s Supreme Leader was targeted. Its intervention now comes after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in Operation Epic Fury.

Hezbollah, in a statement claiming responsibility for launching “a barrage of precision missiles and a swarm of drones,” said it attacked as “revenge for the blood of the Supreme Leader of the Muslims, Ali Khamenei.”

The terror group claimed that it had targeted a missile defense site south of Haifa.

The attack came hours after Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem vowed that his group would confront Israel and the US over their strikes on Iran, despite the Lebanese government’s plea for it to remain on the sidelines as it had done during the previous 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June 2025.

But the request fell on deaf ears as Hezbollah moved ahead with its attack, marking the first time that the Iranian proxy had fired at Israel since the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect in November 2024.

Hezbollah launched its initial strikes at 1 a.m. and claimed responsibility shortly afterward. One rocket was intercepted by air defenses, while at least two others landed in surrounding areas.

Approximately two hours later, at least three more rockets were launched, again landing in northern Israel.

The Lebanese government once again urged the Iranian-backed terror group not to get involved, but the appeal was ignored. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir announced that an offensive campaign against Hezbollah is underway and could last several days.

Yemen’s Houthis Threaten To Target Ships Linked To Firms Dealing With Israeli Ports

July 27 (Reuters) – Yemen’s Houthis said on Sunday they would target any ships belonging to companies that do business with Israeli ports, regardless of their nationalities, as part of what they called the fourth phase of their military operations against Israel.

In a televised statement, the Houthis’ military spokesperson warned that ships would be attacked if companies ignored their warnings, regardless of their destination.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces call on all countries, if they want to avoid this escalation, to pressure the enemy to halt its aggression and lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip,” he added.

Since Israel’s war in Gaza began in October 2023, the Iran-aligned Houthis have been attacking ships they deem as bound or linked to Israel in what they say are acts of solidarity with Palestinians.

In May, the U.S. announced a surprise deal with the Houthis where it agreed to stop a bombing campaign against them in return for an end to shipping attacks, though the Houthis said the deal did not include sparing Israel.

ONE Innovation Sets New Container Loading Record in Singapore

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has achieved a new milestone in container shipping as its vessel ONE Innovation set a new world record by loading 22,233 TEU — the highest loading ever recorded on any containership to date.

The vessel, one of six 24,000 TEU-class mega vessels in the ONE fleet, departed from Singapore and is currently en route to Felixstowe via the FE4 shipping route.

ONE Innovation, delivered in 2023 as the company’s first-ever 24,000-TEU class “Megamax” vessel, was built by Japan Marine United Corporation’s Kure Shipyard. The 400-meter-long ship features a capacity of up to 24,136 TEU, making it the largest vessel in ONE’s fleet.

Singapore to Jail and Cane Tug Crewmember for Aiding Human Smuggling

Singapore’s State Court handed down the punishment for a young Indonesian man who was accused of aiding in smuggling individuals illegally into the country while he had been working on a tugboat. The court ordered Febry Iswanto, age 23, to spend eight months in jail and to be caned, receiving three strokes for his role in the operation.

The Singapore Port Police conducted an operation at the Pulau Punggol Aggregate Terminal and arrested Ferby Iswanto and seven other foreign crewmembers on November 9 on charges that they had abetted persons to enter Singapore unlawfully. The former deckhand ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of aiding three people to enter the country illegally, while the police at last report were still investigating the other crewmembers for possible involvement in the scheme.

The former crewmember said he had begun working on the tug in March 2024 and became friendly with another crewmember, who was later discharged for poor performance. That former crewmember later contacted the defendant and offered to pay him approximately US$90 per person he helped to enter Singapore.

At the end of August, while the tugboat and the barge it was hauling were in Indonesia, a small boat carrying two people came alongside. The two individuals hid in the tug’s anchor compartment during the trip to Singapore. When they reached the terminal, the deckhand reported that he turned off the floodlights, retrieved the two individuals from the compartment, took them to the stern, and instructed them to swim to Singapore.

He told prosecutors that he was only paid about US$60 as the former crewmember who was the organizer of the plot told him only one person had made it to safety.

The tug and barge were back in Indonesia in October to haul a load of granite, and this time, three individuals were brought out on a small boat. The court papers indicated they hid on the barge for the trip to SingapoPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Israel had determined that the gathering would include top Iranian defense officials, includingMohammad Pakpour, the commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps; Aziz Nasirzadeh, the minister of defense; Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the head of the Military Council; Seyyed Majid Mousavi, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Aerospace Force; Mohammad Shirazi, the deputy intelligence minister; and others.

The operation began around 6 a.m. in Israel, as fighter jets took off from their bases. The strike required relatively few aircraft, but they were armed with long-range and highly accurate munitions.

Two hours and five minutes after the jets took off, at around 9:40 a.m. in Tehran, the long-range missiles struck the compound. At the time of the strike, senior Iranian national security officials were in one building at the compound. Mr. Khamenei was in another nearby building.

“This morning’s strike was carried out simultaneously at several locations in Tehran, in one of which senior figures of Iran’s political-security echelon had gathered,” an Israeli defense official wrote in a message reviewed by The New York Times.

The leaders were set to meet where the offices of the Iranian presidency, the supreme leader and Iran’s National Security Council are located.
