Vatican being hit with meteorite chances today

The chance of the Vatican—or any specific small location on Earth—being hit by a meteorite today is extremely low, effectively zero. Meteorite impacts are rare events, and the Earth's surface is vast, with most impacts occurring in uninhabited or oceanic areas.

No known asteroid or meteoroid poses an immediate threat to Earth on February 25, 2026. While meteor showers occur regularly (like the Lyrids in April 2026), they consist of tiny particles that burn up in the atmosphere and pose no danger.

The Vatican Observatory, part of the Catholic Church's long-standing engagement with astronomy, studies celestial objects but has not issued any warnings about imminent impacts.

Early rabbinic interpretation connected the curse of child eating (Leviticus 26:29; Deuteronomy 28:53-57) with the description of the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in Lamentations (2:20 and 4:10) and the Roman destruction of the Second Temple. In the Middle Ages, however, Jewish commentators de-emphasize this connection. The reason for this lies in the 12th c. development of Christian Bible commentary.
