Nederland: bomaanslag richt zich op Joodse School in Amsterdamse buurt

Een zeer verontrustende reeks aanvallen op Joodse instellingen in zowel Europa als de Verenigde Staten heeft de bezorgdheid over het toenemende antisemitische geweld in de westerse wereld vergroot. Van explosies in Joodse faciliteiten in Nederland tot een gewelddadige aanval op een synagoge in Michigan, waarschuwen de autoriteiten dat Joodse gemeenschappen onder toenemende druk blijven staan.

In Amsterdam trof een explosie zaterdagochtend vroeg een Joods schoolgebouw in wat stadsambtenaren beschreven als een opzettelijke aanval. De explosie vond plaats in de wijk Buitenveldert in het zuidelijke deel van de Nederlandse hoofdstad en veroorzaakte lichte schade aan een buitenmuur van het gebouw. Gelukkig zijn er geen gewonden gemeld.

Politie en brandweer hebben het gebied snel beveiligd en begonnen het incident te onderzoeken. Bewakingsbeelden laten zien dat een verdachte een explosief buiten het gebouw plaatst voordat hij de plaats delict ontvlucht, wat een grootschalige zoektocht naar de verantwoordelijke persoon op gang brengt.

De burgemeester van Amsterdam, Femke Halsema, veroordeelde de aanslag met klem en zei dat deze specifiek gericht leek te zijn op de Joodse gemeenschap. "Dit is een laffe daad van agressie tegen de Joodse gemeenschap", zei ze in een verklaring, eraan toevoegend dat Joodse inwoners in de stad de afgelopen maanden steeds vaker te maken hebben gehad met daden van antisemitisme.

De autoriteiten hebben een groot onderzoek gestart om te bepalen wie de bomaanslag heeft uitgevoerd en of er nog meer verdachten bij betrokken waren. De veiligheidsmaatregelen rond Joodse instellingen in de Nederlandse hoofdstad zijn in reactie daarop al aangescherpt.

De Islamitische Beweging van de Metgezellen van rechts heeft de verantwoordelijkheid online opgeëist en een video vrijgegeven die naar verluidt de aanval toont.

Boedapest legde zijn veto op de noodlening van de EU van €90 miljard ($105 miljard) voor Oekraïne nadat Kiev de Russische oliestromen door de Druzhba-pijpleiding-een belangrijke bevoorradingsroute naar Hongarije en Slowakije-had gestopt.

"We zullen de lening op de een of andere manier leveren", zei von der Leyen tijdens een bezoek aan Kiev. De opmerkingen volgden op een top in Brussel op donderdag, waar de EU-leiders er niet in slaagden de Hongaarse premier Viktor Orban te overtuigen zijn veto op te heffen.

Orban, die volgende maand wordt geconfronteerd met verkiezingen, heeft Kiev herhaaldelijk beschuldigd van het opzettelijk stoppen van de leveringen om politieke redenen en zei Deze week dat hij de lening zou blokkeren totdat de olievoorraden hervatten. "Als er geen olie is, is er geen geld", zei hij.

EU-functionarissen, die tot nu toe directe confrontaties hebben vermeden, hebben de druk op de Hongaarse leider verhoogd en het "onaanvaardbare" verzet van Boedapest tijdens hun ontmoeting in Brussel veroordeeld. Democrat Donors Flood Cash To Trump-Backed Massie Challenger

Democrat donors are flooding cash into former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein’s bid to oust Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie.

Gallrein is running in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District and has been endorsed by President Donald Trump. But despite previously criticizing the political makeup of Massie’s donors, Gallrein has received a number of high-value donations from people who have previously given to Democrat candidates.

85% of donors who contributed the maximum amount allowable to Gallrein’s campaign have a history of donating to Democratic candidates, a Daily Caller review of Federal Election Commission (FEC) records found.

Of the 141 donors identifiedin the fourth quarter who contributed the $3,500 primary maximum or more to Gallrein, 120 of them had previously donated to Democrats.

112 of those donors are also high-dollar contributors to Democratic campaigns, meaning roughly 79% both maxed out to Gallrein and have made substantial donations to Democrats.

Gallrein claimed during a Feb. 25 appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s show that his campaign money was coming from “conservatives.”

“Let me give you an example: my money is coming from conservatives — not from the same people who got Mamdani elected,” Gallrein said in response to a question about whether he had the financial juice to take on Massie.

“I’ve challenged journalists to look into where his funding is coming from — there’s a Pulitzer Prize waiting for whoever does that research,” Gallrein said. “The sentiment right now is like a pressure valve being released. "A federal arts commission on Thursday approved the final design for a 24-karat gold commemorative coin bearing Donald Trump’s image to help celebrate the US’s 250th birthday on 4 July.

"The vote by the US Commission of Fine Arts, whose members are supporters of the Republican president and were appointed by him earlier this year, was without objection. It clears the way for the US Mint to begin production on the coin, whose size and denomination are still under discussion.

“As we approach our 250th birthday, we are thrilled to prepare coins that represent the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, and there is no profile more emblematic for the front of such coins than that of our serving president, Donald J Trump,” the US treasurer, Brandon Beach, said in a statement.

Federal law says no living president can appear on US currency. But Megan Sullivan, the acting chief of the office of design management at the Mint, said the treasury secretary has authority to authorize the minting and issuance of certain coins.

"She presented the coin’s final design at the commission’s March meeting on Thursday and said Trump had approved it.

“It is my understanding that the secretary of the treasury presented this design, as well as others, to the president and these were his selection,” Sullivan said.

"The White House and the Mint did not immediately respond to electronic and telephone requests for comment.
