he jury in the Michael Sussmann criminal case resumes deliberations today after the long Memorial Day weekend. While prosecutors presented overwhelming evidence over the last two weeks that Sussmann lied to then-FBI General Counsel James Baker in 2016, an acquittal by the D.C. jury still seems likely.

Judging the success of Special Counsel John Durham’s probe into the investigation of President Trump and those associated with the Trump campaign and administration should not rest on the outcome of the Sussmann prosecution, however. In fact, even if the special counsel’s office scores a conviction in its false statement case against Sussmann, that would do little to right the scales of justice unbalanced by more than five years of the politically motivated abuse of power that began as Crossfire Hurricane and continued even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued his final report.

So, measuring Durham’s performance by the outcome in United States v. Sussmann would be a mistake. Also, especially in the case of an acquittal, it would ignore the valuable information exposed related to the broader Spygate scandal. Using that gauge as a measure, the special counsel’s office succeeded wildly.

Durham Proved the Collusion Hoax Was a Hillary Clinton Enterprise

On September 19, 2016, Sussmann provided Baker data and whitepapers purporting to show a secret communications network between the Russia-based Alfa Bank and Donald Trump. In indicting Sussmann for allegedly lying to Baker during this meeting, the special counsel’s office revealed in its 27-page speaking indictment “a scandal much deeper than merely Sussmann’s role in a second Russian hoax — a scandal that entangles the Clinton campaign, multiple internet companies, two federally-funded university researchers, and a complicit media.”

Since then, proof that the Clinton campaign held near-total responsibility for launching the Russia-collusion hoax mounted with nearly every legal filing. It eventually culminated during the Sussmann trial when former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook testified that Hillary Clinton personally “agreed with the decision” to feed the unverified—and quickly debunked—theory that Trump was communicating secretly with Russia through a back-door Alfa Bank channel.

Other trial evidence confirmed the Clinton campaign paid the law firm Perkins and Coie a flat fee of as much as $130,000 per month during the campaign, and authorized lead counsel Marc Elias to hire Fusion GPS for opposition research. Billing records then showed Sussmann charged his time for working the Alfa Bank hoax—including the time he spent meeting with the FBI’s General Counsel Baker—to the Clinton campaign. In fact, late last week, the jury in the Sussmann case learned that Sussmann even charged the Clinton campaign for two thumb drives purchased at Staples used for the Alfa Bank project.

While the Sussmann case focused on the Alfa Bank hoax, the detailed evidence presented over the course of that prosecution also confirmed the Clinton campaign paid for Fusion GPS to compile the Christopher Steele dossier. Given Mook’s testimony that he sought Clinton’s approval to push the Alfa Bank claims to the media, it is only reasonable to infer she likewise personally green-lighted the peddling of the claims contained in the Steele dossier.

But even if Clinton did not personally approve of peddling the lies contained in the Steele dossier, the Sussmann case established that her campaign paid for the lies—including those emanating from the Russian-national Igor Danchenko. And Special Counsel Durham’s indictment against Danchenko reveals that individuals hired by the Clinton campaign fed that Russian disinformation to U.S. media, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies.

A Court Ruling Requiring More Disclosures

Beyond exposing the Clinton campaign’s responsibility for the Russia-collusion hoax, Durham’s prosecution of Sussmann sets the stage for potentially even more damaging revelations about Clinton’s personal involvement in the scandal.

To date, the Clinton campaign has hidden behind claims of attorney-client privilege to prevent Durham from obtaining documents, communications, and testimony through the grand jury. The Clinton campaign claimed material prepared by, or communications between, Perkins and Coie attorneys, Fusion GPS employees, investigators, and other third parties are protected by attorney-client privilege. Prosecutors in the Sussmann case, however, succeeded in obtaining a court ruling that several documents withheld by Fusion GPS, based on the Clinton campaign’s claims of privilege, are not protected and must be given to prosecutors.

While Fusion GPS continues to withhold thousands of documents, this precedent provides the special counsel’s office solid grounds to challenge the privilege in both the Danchenko case and in other grand jury probes that may be pending. Piercing the privilege will prove key to further exposing Clinton’s personal involvement in Spygate.

Killing the Alfa Bank Hoax For Good

No matter the verdict the jury returns in the Sussmann case, the special counsel’s prosecution also revealed that the Alfa Bank stories were hoaxes—and the scandalous way they were crafted and seeded to America.

Voters first learned of the supposed connection between Trump and the Russian-based Alfa Bank about one week before the 2016 U.S. presidential election, when Slate reported that trusted cyber experts had discovered an “irregular pattern of server lookups” that suggested “a sustained relationship between a server registered to the Trump Organization and two servers registered to an entity called Alfa Bank.”

While the Slate article hedged somewhat by admitting “what the scientists amassed wasn’t a smoking gun,” and that the data “doesn’t absolutely preclude alternative explanations,” the headline, “Group of Computer Scientists Believes a Trump Server Was Communicating With a Russian Bank,” captured the essence of the article—and what its author Franklin Foer, Fusion GPS, and the Clinton campaign wanted Americans to believe.

The Alfa Bank hoax did not end there, however, or even after Trump’s election. Sussmann continued to push the theory to the CIA in February 2017, following Trump’s inauguration. Soon thereafter, Daniel Jones, a former staffer for the U.S. Senate Committee on Intelligence, Ranking Member Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, and the president and CEO of The Democracy Integrity Project (TDIP) continued the Alfa Bank witch-hunt.

According to a complaint filed with the Senate’s Ethics Committee, staff and members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, including T. Kirk McConnell, “requested and accepted” professional services from Jones and TDIP. Specifically, the complaint alleged that the Armed Services Committee, “via senior leadership staff acting in their official capacity, asked Mr. Jones to research and offer his insights into the alleged connections between Alfa Bank and Trump Organization servers,” and to “evaluate information it had received about DNS look-ups between Alfa Bank servers and Trump Organization servers.”

Jones, the TDIP, and the Senate Armed Services Committee continued the Alfa Bank investigation long after the FBI had concluded in early February 2017 that there “were no such links” between the Trump organization and Alfa Bank. The media also persisted in pushing the supposed Russia collusion scandal.

Media Keeps the Lies Circulating

The New Yorker’s Dexter Filkins re-upped the Alfa Bank tale in 2018, in a tome titled, “Was There a Connection Between a Russian Bank and the Trump Campaign?” Filkins then resurrected the story for The New Yorker in October 2020, repeating many of the same allegations in “The Contested Afterlife of the Trump-Alfa Bank Story.”

In both pieces, Filkins referenced “Max,” who claimed that he, along with a team of other supposed guardians of the internet, had uncovered the mysterious Alfa Bank-Trump connections. But thanks to the prosecution of Sussmann, we now know “Max” is tech executive Rodney Joffe, and that his fellow cyber experts pushing the Alfa Bank hoax were April Lorenzen and David Dagon.

Court filings in the Sussmann case also revealed that the cyber researchers saw the Alfa Bank theory as flawed. They also showed another expert, Manos Antonakakis, who reviewed the Alfa Bank-Trump whitepapers, had congratulated Joffe on crafting the paper to avoid the most glaring hole in the thesis.

The more devastating take-down of the Alfa Bank theory, however, came during Sussmann’s trial, when government cyber security experts testified of their review of the data, telling the jury they had quickly concluded the hypothesis made no sense. One agent noted it sounded “5150ish” at the time. He explained to the jury he meant that the individual positing the Alfa Bank-Trump connection sounded as if he “was suffering from some mental disability.”

Exposing Deep Intelligence Corruption

Beyond burying the Alfa Bank hoax as a crazy conspiracy theory, Durham’s investigation also exposed the scandalous way the theory permeated both the media and U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Joffe tasked two Georgia Tech cyber researchers, as well as employees at tech companies over which he had influence, with mining proprietary and sensitive government data for any connection between Trump and Russia to push the Russia collusion narrative. Joffe also held responsibility for providing the Alfa Bank data to Sussmann, who shared it with the Clinton campaign’s head lawyer, Elias, and Fusion GPS, with the group then plotting to push the tale to the media.

The evidence further showed that Sussmann then fed the Alfa Bank story to the FBI, lying to Baker at the time, prompting the FBI to launch an investigation into the supposed secret communication network. Meantime, Joffe provided a different FBI contact the same Alfa Bank “intel” while asking that agent to maintain his anonymity, thereby creating a problem of circular reporting. Special Counsel Durham also revealed that Joffe still risks prosecution.

As with Sussmann, whether Joffe ever faces charges or a conviction says nothing of the success of the Durham investigation. To date, the special counsel has succeeded in exposing Hillary Clinton’s role in the hoax—and that the Alfa Bank hoax was real and spectacularly scandalous.

The EU will not discuss a ban on Russian natural gas imports as part of the next round of Ukraine-related sanctions against Moscow, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer disclosed on Tuesday.

“The gas embargo will not be a topic, [German Chancellor] Olaf Scholz has made this clear as well,” Nehammer told reporters on the sidelines of the second day of the EU summit in Brussels. On Monday, the EU agreed a partial ban on Russian crude as part of the sixth round of sanctions.

“Russian oil is much easier to compensate [for]... gas is completely different, which is why a gas embargo will not be an issue in the next sanctions package,” Nehammer explained.

Estonia and Belgium both share Austria’s view on a potential embargo of Russian gas deliveries to the bloc. Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas admitted to reporters upon his arrival at the summit on Tuesday that imposing more sanctions on Russia will be difficult, as EU citizens have been affected.

“I think gas has to be in the seventh package but I have to be realistic and I don’t think it will be there,” she said, as quoted by Euronews.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo hailed the EU oil embargo against Russia as “a big step forward,” but said he believed the bloc “should pause it by now,” as banning Russian gas is “way more complicated.”

The EU relies heavily on gas imports from Russia but has sought to reduce its dependence after Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine. Russian energy giant Gazprom stopped gas supplies to Poland, Bulgaria, Finland and the Netherlands after the countries failed to comply with Russia’s demand that supplies must be paid for in rubles.

Viktor Orbán defeats the EU — again

After almost a month of wrangling, the EU finally announced a long-awaited ban on Russian oil late last night. European Council President Charles Michel said the ban would immediately affect 75% of oil imports from Russia, “cutting a large source of financing for its war machine.”

Viewed in the cold light of day, though, the embargo falls short. In truth, the deal, portrayed as a compromise between Hungary and the rest of the bloc over the former’s demand that its oil supplies be protected, has little in the way of “compromise” about it. To get Hungary onside, Brussels has caved to Viktor Orbán’s demands, effectively granting Hungary a total exemption for an indefinite length of time.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has summoned ambassadors from Germany and France to issue a note of protest over the unhindered activity of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in their countries. Ankara warned all NATO members, and particularly Finland and Sweden, who are trying to join the bloc, that it will not tolerate any support for anti-Turkish terrorist groups.

In an interview with the state-run Anadolu Agency on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Turkey was concerned with the recent rise in activities by the PKK and other terrorist organizations in France and Germany, after the group, who Ankara considers to be terrorists, held demonstrations in the two countries.

“We are talking about rallies at which symbols and flags of terrorists were demonstrated. The ambassadors of Germany and France were summoned yesterday to the Foreign Ministry. They were handed notes regarding such actions of terrorist organizations. We gave them a stern warning,” said Cavusoglu.

Although the minister did not specifically mention which demonstrations had prompted Ankara’s response, it seems likely that he was referring to the Long Marches currently being held by Kurdish Youth movements in Germany, France, Greece, England, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The marches, which kicked off on Sunday and are expected to last for several days, are being held in protest at the Turkish state’s alleged invasion and “genocidal attacks” against Kurdistan – a roughly defined separatist territory spread between Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. The movement calls for the freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan and expresses solidarity with the guerrillas who are currently fighting Turkish forces in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).

The foreign minister’s comments came as he was explaining why Turkey continues to oppose Sweden and Finland’s accession to NATO, reiterating Anakara’s position that it will not agree to the Nordic countries’ membership until they meet Turkey’s demands of halting all support for terrorist groups.

He pointed to the fact that both nations continue to provide political, military and economic assistance to terrorist groups such as the PKK, its Syrian offshoot the YPG, and FETO, which Ankara believes to be behind an attempted coup in 2016. Cavusoglu also noted that both of the countries refuse to extradite any members of these organizations, despite them facing prosecution in Turkey.

Asked to comment on the attempts of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to get Turkey to hold a meeting with Finland and Sweden at the alliance’s headquarters, Cavusoglu stated that although he was grateful for these efforts, Ankara had its own way of doing things.

“We are not against diplomacy for the resolution of this problem. We thank the secretary general for his efforts. But we have already handed these two countries a formal document about our demands. We cannot hold another meeting before we receive an answer,” he said.

Turkey won't let ‘terrorism supporters’ join NATO

On Sunday, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that, as long as he is president, his country will never allow any nation supporting terrorism to join the NATO alliance, reiterating that Turkey will not give a green light to Finland and Sweden’s bids until they properly address Ankara’s concerns.

Delegations from the two Nordic countries met with their Turkish counterparts last week and were issued a list of demands, among which is the crackdown on groups Ankara considers to be extremists. However, Erdogan has blasted these talks as dishonest.

“They are not honest or sincere,” he said. “They don’t take necessary steps, they are still allowing the terrorists to freely walk in the streets of Stockholm and provide security to them with their police.”

Finland and Sweden both decided to break with their history of neutrality on May 15, citing Russia’s military offensive against Ukraine as motivation for them to join NATO. Their membership bids were welcomed by Washington and its European NATO allies, however, Turkey and Croatia have threatened to obstruct the applications unless their national security concerns are addressed.

Germany to end Russian oil imports by end of 2022, Scholz says

Germany is sticking to its goal of becoming independent from Russian oil imports by the end of the year, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday, adding that options on how to handle the Schwedt refinery are still to be determined. Asked whether a nationalization of the Schwedt refinery was an option, Scholz said: “We will determine at the end (of our discussions) which way we will take, which way we think is the right one.” “For now, it is important that we find a perspective that safeguards the jobs in Leuna and Schwedt,” Scholz told journalists in Brussels after a summit with European Union leaders that agreed a gradual embargo on Russian oil imports.

Turkey outlines stance on sanctions against Russia

Mevlut Cavusoglu answers questions from Anadolu. Screenshot from a YouTube broadcast.

Ankara is a mediator between Russia and Ukraine and will not join the US-led campaign to sanction Russia for its military action against its neighbor, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Tuesday.

“Our position on sanctions needs to be accepted due to the role of a mediator that we play. Our position is clear: we will not join them, and we will not allow sanctions to go through us,” he said as cited by the media.

The remark came as the EU announced agreement in principle on a sixth round of sanctions against Russia, which includes a partial oil embargo.

Turkey’s top diplomat reiterated the no-sanctions policy as he answered questions about Ankara’s foreign affairs from the Turkish news agency Anadolu. He said his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, was scheduled to visit Turkey next week, with the issue of safe navigation in the Black Sea on the agenda.

Cavusoglu said that Turkey, being the nation controlling access to the Black Sea from the Mediterranean, decided to cancel or postpone a number of scheduled NATO naval exercises, in a gesture of respect to Russian concerns about the alliance.

Turkey has repeatedly stated that it doesn’t see unilateral economic sanctions as a good tool and that it favored diplomacy in attempts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Ankara hosted the only round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, during which the parties said tangible progress was made. The negotiations in Istanbul in late March concluded with Ukraine delivering to Russia written proposals on how their differences could be settled, including a pledge of neutrality by Kiev.

The process has since stalled. Kiev claimed Russian war crimes made it impossible for the Ukrainian public to accept a peace agreement and said it was determined to win on the battlefield with the assistance of Western nations.

Moscow said it formulated a formal peace agreement based on Kiev’s proposals and sent it to them, but have not heard back from the Ukrainian side. Russian officials said all statements made since by Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, that they are ready to negotiate with Russia were not in good faith.

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German- and French-brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the First Lady received on 30/5/2022 the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda, and his wife at Al Ittihadiya Palace. An official reception ceremony was held and the two Presidents inspected the guards of honor. The Spokesman for the Presidency said the two Presidents held bilateral talks, followed by an expanded session attended by the two countries’ delegations. The President welcomed the Polish President’s visit to Cairo, which is of particular importance as the first presidential visit between the two sides, despite the joint diplomatic relations that spanned over a century. President El-Sisi stressed that the visit at this critical time reflects the importance the two sides attach to the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and their joint interest to promote them toward broader horizons and a more distinguished level. The President also expressed Egypt’s great interest to step up cooperation with Poland within the framework of the Visegrad Group, which includes, in addition to Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, in order to strengthen cooperation frameworks between Egypt and this key regional grouping.

The Pentagon is “proactively planning” cooperation between the US National Guard and Taiwan’s defense forces, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen revealed on Tuesday, without specifying the details.

Welcoming a delegation led by US Senator Tammy Duckworth, Tsai said Taipei is looking forward to “closer and deeper Taiwan-US cooperation on matters of regional security.” She added that Duckworth was one of the key sponsors of the Taiwan Partnership Act, “which received bipartisan support in the US Congress.”

“As a result, the US Department of Defense is now proactively planning cooperation between the US National Guard and Taiwan's defense forces,” the Taiwanese President said.

Today I met with @SenDuckworth to explore opportunities for closer #Taiwan-#US cooperation in regional security, trade & investment. I deeply appreciate your staunch support for Taiwan & your sponsorship of legislation to strengthen our bilateral ties. pic.twitter.com/3jQ0xQXQDh

— 蔡英文 Tsai Ing-wen (@iingwen) May 31, 2022

Duckworth, in turn, claimed that she has “a line of people” from the Senate Armed Services Committee willing to sign on to her recent bill, the Strengthen Taiwan's Security Act.

“So while I want to emphasize our support for Taiwan's security, I do want to say that it is more than just about military – it's also about the economy,” the senator said.

Tsai and Duckworth’s statements came a day after the Taiwanese authorities reported China’s second-largest incursion into the island’s air defense zone this year. The Taiwanese Defense Ministry claimed that 30 jets entered the area on Monday, including more than 20 fighters. While Beijing has yet to comment on the latest incident, previously the Chinese government described similar episodes as drills aimed at protecting the country’s sovereignty.

Taiwan claims major Chinese war plane incursion READ MORE: Taiwan claims major Chinese war plane incursion

China has consistently warned the US against military cooperation with Taiwan, which Beijing considers to be part of its territory. On May 27, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin accused the US of hypocrisy, constituting “severe threats to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”

“The US said that it does not support ‘Taiwan independence,’ but it is not practicing what it says,” the spokesman said.

Last week, US President Joe Biden suggested that Washington would send its military to defend the self-governed island should China attack it. However, later both Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken clarified the remark, insisting that Washington’s stance, which, among other things, includes respecting the so-called One-China principle, has not changed.

Taiwan is a self-governing territory which has been de facto ruled by its own government since 1949, when the losing side in the Chinese civil war fled to the island and set up its own administration there. Beijing considers the Taiwanese authorities to be separatists, insisting that the island is an inalienable part of China.

In recent years, top Chinese officials, including President Xi Jinping, have openly said that Beijing would not rule out the use of force to ensure the “reunification” of Taiwan with the mainland.

The authorities in Taipei have similarly warned that they would defend the island tooth and nail in the event of a Chinese invasion.

Russia and China are continuing to eliminate the US dollar from mutual trade as monthly volumes on the ruble-yuan pair have reportedly soared 1,067% to nearly $4 billion over the past three months.

According to Bloomberg calculations, some 25.91 billion yuan, or $3.9 billion, have been exchanged for rubles on the Moscow spot market so far in May, marking a twelvefold surge versus the volumes recorded in February, when Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine. The spike coincides with a rally in the ruble to a five-year high against the yuan and the US dollar.

Meanwhile, volume in the dollar-ruble pair reportedly dropped to the lowest level in a decade. The ruble rallied 118% against the greenback between early March and late May, even as most traders deserted the pair amid capital controls and forced dollar sales.

Yuan deposits replace dollar and euro in Russian banks READ MORE: Yuan deposits replace dollar and euro in Russian banks

“The main players in the yuan-ruble market are corporations and banks, but there is also a growing interest from retail investors,” a currency and rates strategist at Sberbank CIB, Yuri Popov, told the agency.

“The volume on the Moscow Exchange’s spot market has surged. This is due to sanctions concerns, as well as the intentions of Russia and China to encourage the usage of national currencies in bilateral trade,” he added.

The mass exodus of international brands from the sanctions-hit country have reportedly forced Russian businesses to turn to Chinese goods to replace Western imports. Meanwhile, the Chinese yuan may gain fresh impetus for internationalization just when growing tensions between Washington and Beijing are slowing that process.

Japan will not withdraw from Russia’s Sakhalin-2 liquefied natural gas project even if it’s told to do so, the country’s industry minister told parliament on Tuesday.

The comments follow criticism from Russia last week accusing Japan of benefiting from its participation in the project while being an “unfriendly nation” that joined the West in putting sanctions on Moscow.

“Sakhalin-2 is an asset that our predecessors worked hard to acquire. The owner of the land may be Russia, but the leasehold and the liquefaction and transportation equipment belong to the Japanese government and Japanese companies. We do not intend to leave, even if we are told [to do so],” Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Koichi Hagiuda said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

Russian State Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said last week that Japan was receiving “huge profits” from the Sakhalin-2 project, suggesting that its stake should be sold to Russia’s state-owned energy company Gazprom or to companies from “friendly nations.” Japan has joined the US and the EU in imposing a wide range of economic restrictions on Russia over the Ukraine conflict but fell short of cutting energy cooperation.

Sakhalin-2, a joint venture between Russia’s Gazprom (50%), Japan’s Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi (10%) and UK-based Shell (27.5%), is a liquified natural gas project located on Russia’s Sakhalin Island near Japan. Because of its proximity, shipping the supplies only takes about three days, thereby reducing transportation costs. Japan gets almost 9% of the LNG it needs from Sakhalin.

Shell announced plans to exit all of its Russian operations amid an exodus of Western companies from the country over the conflict in Ukraine. Since then, media reports say the energy giant has been in talks with Chinese and Indian companies to sell its stake in the project.

Japan faces ‘summer of price hikes’ READ MORE: Japan faces ‘summer of price hikes’

The Japanese government has spoken out against suspending energy cooperation with Russia. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said back in March that the Sakhalin-2 project was essential to the country’s energy security. Last month, Koichi Hagiuda said that if Japan were to exit energy projects with Russia, it would undermine Western sanctions and benefit Moscow, as the step could further boost energy prices. He also said that Tokyo intended to continue to hold its concessions in Sakhalin and that Japan had never felt any pressure from the United States to exit energy projects with Russia in regards to Sakhalin.

According to the newspaper Nikkei Asia, replacing Russian LNG from Sakhalin-2 would cost Japan $15 billion, with the price tag for imports jumping 35% if Mitsui and Mitsubishi pulled out of the energy project. Experts point out that Russia could redirect its imports to other Asian nations, such as China, India, or Vietnam, if Japan decided to withdraw.

German Police Raid Deutsche Bank, DWS Over Allegations Of Greenwashing

German federal police raided Deutsche Bank AG and its asset management arm, DWS Group, in Frankfurt, Germany. DWS has faced accusations of greenwashing ever since the firm's former head of sustainability said it overstated how much capital was allocated to sustainable investing last August.

Bloomberg reports the Tuesday morning raid on Germany's largest lender and DWS is directly related to greenwashing, though precisely what federal police are investigating and who the probe is focused around is unknown.

DWS' former chief sustainability officer, Desiree Fixler, went public last year about how the firm exaggerated its use of sustainable investing criteria to manage its assets. DWS has since denied the claims, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and German financial regulator, BaFin, have been investigating the asset management arm. DWS shares fell as much as 4.6% on the news. Deutsche Bank owns an 80% stake, and its shares slumped a little more than 2%. The Frankfurt public prosecutors' office said the investigation had been "triggered by reports in the international and national media that the asset manager DWS, when marketing so-called 'green financial products' had sold these financial products as 'greener' or 'more sustainable' than they actually were."

"After examination, sufficient factual evidence has emerged that, contrary to the statements made in the sales prospectuses of DWS funds, ESG factors . . . were not taken into account at all in a large number of investments," the prosecutors' office said, calling this "prospectus fraud". Since Fixler left the firm and publicly voiced concern about DWS' ESG investing, DWS changed its ESG criteria and said it only had $123 billion "ESG assets" for 2021, a 75% decline from a year earlier when it said half of its assets were "ESG integrated." The latest raid comes one month after the Deutsche Bank was raided in Frankfurt over suspected money laundering -- certainly not a good look for the bank.

Credit Suisse Sets Up New Financing Group to Boost Risk Control

Credit Suisse Group AG set up a new unit to oversee lending to wealthy clients across various regions and businesses, as the Swiss bank seeks to improve collaboration and better align risk management. The new global financing group will be headed by Lawrence Fletcher with immediate effect, according to a memo seen by Bloomberg. The bank will also set up a trading risk management and syndication function, focusing on structured lending and the overall risk and capital profile of the financing business. A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the content of the memo, which was signed by Yves-Alain Sommerhalder, global head of financing and products for the private bank. Credit Suisse has been shaking up its top ranks and reorganizing business units after the twin hits from the collapse of Archegos Capital Management and partner Greensill Capital saddled it with billions of dollars in losses. Chief Executive Officer Thomas Gottstein has vowed to improve risk management, in part by centralizing control over the risks the bank is taking.

The bank’s revamp, outlined in November, included removing the regional autonomy that Asia enjoyed and replacing Asia Pacific chief Helman Sitohang, who stepped aside to focus more on clients. The Asia business has also been burdened by turmoil at Luckin Coffee Inc., a Chinese coffee chain that was caught fabricating revenue. As part of the reorganization announced Wednesday, five business lines will be created, including three regional ones for structured lending, as well as one for real asset lending and another called Lombard and deposits unit.

Democrat lawyer Michael Sussmann has been acquitted.

The DC jury protects its own.

And - the most important disclosures during the trial

https://technofog.substack.com/p/michael-sussmann-has-been-acquitted?s=w

That’s not the say the public hasn’t benefited from the trial. The information disclosed during the trial was important to understand the broader Clinton/Fusion GPS/Perkins Coie effort to poison the public, the press, and the FBI with their Trump/Russia lies. This included:

Data from the Executive Office of the President of the United States, including data from the Trumansition period, was exploited by Sussmann and Rodney Joffe and then passed to the CIA.

Rodney Joffe was a longtime Confidential Human Source (CHS) – and generally a resource – for the FBI. Joffe worked with the FBI on cyber threats from countries like Russia. From former FBI Agent Grasso: “I’m sure the work that [Joffe] did touched on matters having to do with Russia.”

Joffe went to great lengths to make sure the Alfa Bank information he provided to the FBI did not go through his official FBI handler.

The decision to open the investigation came from FBI Leadership. According to one FBI Agent, “People on the 7th floor to include Director are fired up about this server.”

Perkins Coie partner Marc Elias provided updates on the Fusion GPS “research” to the Clinton Campaign.

And - Hillary Clinton herself approved of the strategy to disseminate the Alfa Bank allegations to the media. Per Robby Mook:

Q: Mr. Mook, before the break you had testified that there was a conversation in which you told Ms. Clinton about the proposed plan to provide the Alfa-Bank allegations to the media; is that correct?

A: Correct.

Q: And what was her response?

A: All I remember is that she agreed with the decision.

Where does Durham go from here? That’s the real question. We already know that the investigation into Rodney Joffe remains open and that Igor Danchenko faces trial this year. Whether there is more remains to be seen.

Consumer confidence takes inflation hit

U.S. consumer confidence dipped in May after a slight increase the month before in the latest signal that Americans expect inflation to stick around for a while.

The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index released Tuesday indicated the May index dropped to 106.4 from 108.6 in April. The organization's Expectations Index – which assesses consumers' short-term outlook for income, business, and labor market conditions – also declined, dropping to 77.5 to 79. "Inflation remains top of mind for consumers, with their inflation expectations in May virtually unchanged from April’s elevated levels," said Lynn Franco, senior director of economic indicators at The Conference Board. "Looking ahead, expect surging prices and additional interest rate hikes to pose continued downside risks to consumer spending this year." With the Expectations Index weakening further, consumers also do not foresee the economy picking up steam in the months ahead," Franco added. "They do expect labor market conditions to remain relatively strong, which should continue to support confidence in the short run."

The latest data from the Labor Department shows inflation soared to 8.3% annually in April, remaining near a four-decade high as the result of a combination of trillions of dollars in government stimulus, elevated consumer demand, supply chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's war in Ukraine. The rising prices have eaten away at Americans' earnings as inflation has outpaced wage increases for months, simultaneously sparking recession concerns and battering President Biden's poll numbers. The president is set to meet with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell in a rare Oval Office meeting on Tuesday as the inflation crisis continues. In a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Monday, Biden acknowledged that "Americans are anxious" about rising prices, and said that he has "made tackling inflation [his] top economic priority."

Yuma County School Board member to plead guilty to ballot trafficking in the 2020 election

Guillermina Fuentes, a Gadsden Elementary School District board member and former mayor of San Luis, Arizona, will reportedly plead guilty to 2020 ballot trafficking. According to The Gateway Pundit, she will appear in court on Thursday to change her plea.

In December 2020, Fuentes was indicted on one count of ballot abuse for illegally harvesting ballots during Arizona’s August 2020 primary election. Under Arizona law, it is illegal for anyone other than a family member, household member, or caregiver to collect an early ballot – blank or filled in – from another person.

Fuentes was indicted alongside another defendant, Alma Yadira Juarez.

Breaking: Yuma County School Board Member Set To Plead Guilty For 2020 Election Ballot Trafficking Crimes As Exposed By True the Vote & 2000 Mules (VIDEO) https://t.co/PZzJMVFL1y

— Kari Lake for AZ Governor (@KariLake) May 28, 2022

Last October, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that Fuentes had been indicted on additional charges, including conspiracy, forgery, and another count of ballot abuse. Months later, in March, Arizona Daily Independent News reported that Juarez had accepted a plea deal and admitted to her role in the harvesting scheme, claiming that she had been given the ballots by Fuentes.

Per The Gateway Pundit, the video evidence against Fuentes and Juarez was collected via a hidden camera and featured in Dinesh D’Souza’s “2000 Mules.” One of the individuals who set up that camera, Arizona State Senate candidate Gary Snyder, appeared on One America News Thursday to discuss the recent development in the case.

#RealAmerica Gary Snyder discusses possible ballot harvesting scheme in Yuma County, Ariz. https://t.co/RMPpSriV1b #OANN

— One America News (@OANN) May 28, 2022

“‘2000 Mules,’ True the Vote, they put a lot of pressure on elected officials, a lot of law enforcement, that weren’t willing to stick up, and it counts,” he said, crediting the film and election integrity organization for their work to uncover the truth.

Recently, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office revealed that it is currently investigating 16 separate cases of ballot harvesting that took place during the 2020 election, and this Tuesday, True the Vote will present evidence of ballot trafficking to Arizona lawmakers.

As the momentum from the release of “2000 Mules” continues to spark investigations into election fraud, election integrity proponents can now point to two proven cases of ballot trafficking in 2020. The question now is, where will the next domino fall?

Mike Lindell announces new film exposing voting machine corruption: ‘Selection Code’

On Saturday, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell announced the upcoming launch of a new film centered on election fraud. “Selection Code,” Lindell said. “This movie trailer is out today! The president’s gonna show it here at the rally. Our real president.”

Lindell’s made the remarks during an interview with RSBN’s own Liz Willis ahead of an energetic Save America rally in Casper, Wyoming. “You need to share this trailer everywhere,” he said. “This movie… it’s Tina Peters’ story, but it’s also America’s story.”

He added that the film is also centered on “what’s inside” the voting machines used during the 2020 presidential election. “We have to terminate the machines,” he went on, “and we are going to do it.”

Tina Peters is a GOP candidate for secretary of state in Colorado. Tina famously blew the whistle on election corruption that she witnessed as a Clerk Recorder in 2020.

According to a report from The Gateway Pundit, Tina made a backup copy of Mesa County’s voting machines. The FBI later raided her after she refused to allow election data to be wiped from the county’s voting machines.

The MyPillow CEO also revealed that “Selection Code” would be released worldwide on July 16 and 17. “The movie’s by Lara Logan,” Lindell added.

Lara Logan is a famed journalist and war correspondent.

“It’s over for them,” Lindell continued. “ES&S, Dominion, Smartmatic… it’s over.” He added, “The 2020 election will go down as the most important election in [the] history of the world…because God’s had his hand in this…”

Five major cities in Wisconsin hit with voter fraud lawsuits

Five cities in Wisconsin are being hit with lawsuits from the Thomas More Society, staging a fight over illegal drop boxes positioned throughout the state during the 2020 presidential election. According to an official press release from the Thomas More Society, the cities involved are Green Bay, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee, and Racine.

Further, each of the cities made an agreement with a nonprofit initiative called the “Center for Tech and Civic Life” to place the drop boxes around the state. The nonprofit in question has been previously linked to Facebook (Meta) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who reportedly funneled millions of dollars into the election processes in Wisconsin cities.

Interestingly, the five cities facing lawsuits are the same “Zuckerberg 5” referred to by Special Counsel Michael Gableman, who has been extensively investigating the influence of dark money in the 2020 presidential election – and looking into whether or not it influenced the final results.

In fact, in April, Gableman presented a 136-page report to the Wisconsin State Assembly that revealed he believed Zuckerberg’s contributions to election processes likely did influence the election results.

According to attorney Erick Kaardal, “This so-called ‘#Wisconsin Safe Voting Plan,’ involved 8.8 million dollars of private grants had little, if anything at all to do with keeping voters safe from Covid-19.” #electionbribery #CTCL #lawsuit https://t.co/fBWDvFu8wK pic.twitter.com/YlqAEu30Zw

— @ThomasMoreSoc (@ThomasMoreSoc) May 25, 2022

Ballot drop boxes have become a hot topic of conversation in the election integrity debate in the U.S. today, especially in light of recent and shocking evidence of ballot trafficking during the 2020 election.

Thanks to an extensive investigation conducted by the election integrity organization, True the Vote, more evidence has been brought to the general public. A new documentary film by Dinesh D’Souza, “2000 Mules,” shares this staggering information on how drop boxes were allegedly used to sway voting outcomes in 2020.

In the official press release, Thomas More Society Special Counsel Erick Kaardal stated that his clients had done “everything in their power” to urge the Wisconsin Elections Commission to investigate the five cities connected to Zuckerberg’s money.

“Nonetheless,” Kaardal continued, “the Wisconsin Elections Commission refused to investigate these known illegalities.” Because of this, he noted there was no choice but to turn to the courts to “prevent these cities from using illegal drop boxes as they did, by agreement and with private funding, in the November 2020 election. Never again.”

Framing Lumber Prices Down 50% Year-over-year; Still up Sharply from Pre-pandemic Levels

Here is another monthly update on framing lumber prices. Cap#1 shows CME random length framing futures through May 31st. Lumber was at $656 per 1000 board feet this morning. This is down from the peak of $1,733, and down 50% from $1,284 a year ago. Prices are still up sharply from the pre-pandemic levels of around $400. There is somewhat of a seasonal demand for lumber, and lumber prices usually peak in April or May (although it seems likely lumber prices peaked earlier this year). The slowdown in housing - and some supply improvement - has pushed down prices.

Mkt Fag: Muh housing #s are a little 'hot' (price-wise) and inventory increasing and the rollercoaster of nothing when it finished-edition

Housing markets having there blow-off top moment(s) and this can go on for a bit as Wall St loves to not have consequences for actual problems that exist because this here >>136203 in coming later this year news: Delinquencies, Foreclosures and REO The wheels coming off the housing market is certainly a major issue going forward so that will be those piling up soon and the system ignoring it by driving prices even higher-that (this bigger increase in home prices) is known as a blow-off top and can last a bit until all this inventory catches up and werks on prices in reverse >>136675 Case-Shiller: National House Price Index increased 20.6% year-over-year in March -but see they have a printing press and those results can be negated for quite some time. >>136758 Framing Lumber Prices Down 50% Year-over-year; Still up Sharply from Pre-pandemic Levels

And right on cue as soon as Europe closed we got the buying programs kicking in "Stocks Pare Loss" EXACTLY at 11:30am est.....They managed to get the DOW green for all of 6 minutes....6 minutes...kek. NAS stayed along the neckline (Fridays close all throughout the mid-session but fell down like all of them in that hour-all shitty low volume-even a last hour attempt starting exactly at 3pm est could 'feex it'. The worst performer of the indices was the RUT at -15.35(-0.81%)

Don't you believe what they are saying in public about rate hikes -it is a TOTAL LIE-the bond market speketh last week and that has NOT changed at all. The CME FED WATCH is just a contract that can be bought and sold to reflect whatever story they want to tell. They will NOT raise rates in September-you must look at the 2 year note to see what they will do and right now they ain't gonna do it. May 2020's collapse in US Macro 'Surprise' data was the worst since Oct 2008 (the immediate aftermath of the Lehman crisis and freezing of all capital markets)-but they were NOT shoving $2T at it then either. The S&P, Dow, and Russell 2000 were basically unchanged on the month, thanks to the ramp of the last few days) but Nasdaq ended the month red (4th red month of last 5 for Nasdaq)

AMZN is up17%in four days-like they din't know the split was coming....:I-well they did just not the announced approval of it. It is scheduled to trade on a split adjusted basis (20:1) on June 6th)-and that was announced on late Friday and it will be priced in the $120ish range-its shareholders had approved an amendment to its restated certificate of incorporation to effect a 20-for-1 stock split. There is no better sign of a top in the markets when they use accounting tricks to make it appear cheaper-it will rise for a bit then will drop-they always do historically speaking-some rare exceptions to it. If you want to take advantage of it make sure you don't hold onto for very long as it will drop. Seen THAT movie plenty of times before.'''

Treasury complexStill the signs of 'folding 'em present-not getting anywhere near 3% on the 10 year but as mortgage rates rise (30 year fixed) they gonna have a problem trying to 'splain this-if anyone even asks that is. The 2 year is same and that is what they use to gauge what the FRB gonna do with prime but Kenny already told ya last week. Bonds were mixed in May with most of the curve lower in yield (led by a 16bps compression in 2Y) but the long-end under-performing (30Y +6bps) thanks to today's weakness...

FOREX-US$, Ruble, Yen, Pound, EUROSee Cap#4 Ruble had some strength early on and was up at 0.016495 but backed off to be at 0.015880+0.000255+1.63% 30 minutes before Europe closed. Muh ¥ 128.63+1.07+0.84% devalues further at same time. US $ doing nuffin also at same time 101.77+0.10+0.10% but got to 102.17 shortly after our PM sessions opened up. Ruble close at 0.015936 +0.000311+1.99%

MetalsAu flat -8.90 -0.48%and Ag down about 0.75% early but has rebounded to be at -0.13 -0.59% about 30 minutes before Europe closes. Nice dip buying there but remember all Paper. But as usual the selling came in and it ended up right around -0.41 -1.87% and that will improve the Gold/Silver ratio again $85.289 +0.812 (+0.96%) by almost a full oz. Au just kept going down all day after that initial spike it had with Ag and ended around -14.30 -0.77%

Gold not so much buying the dip as Ag has pretty much erased the quick drop it had and it was driven up on the NYMEX open. So we're gonna test that 'floor' in it at $21.50 again-it actually dropped to $21.43 and was quickly bought so let's see how bad Private Advisors Group wants moar of this at that same price level.

>>>/qresearch/16303803 pb Private Advisors Group sold $1.2B in SLV-Q1 2022-after buying roughly same amount in Q4 2021

Oil/EnergyWTI (and Brent took off on the expected sanctions) but it exempts all the Hungarian Crude so hahahaha-you had to cave to that or risk sending moar $ to them later so naturally you just went ahead and did what I said you were gonna do-imagine that. >>136645 EU leaders agree on a partial Russian oil embargo it's partial and not until end of the year (if they even do that) WTI was up at $119.x but back where it was last night at just under $118 at $117.83+2.76(+2.40%) and that is the change from Fridays close. Backing off throughout the day and couldn't keep in positive for the close..that was +0.25(+0.22%) so all that to BARELY stay positive. Hope you longs have some confidence cause that just told ya something else going on and some bigger fish shorting it imo. Natty gas gave it up moar and ended at $8.20 and down from $8.60 earlier'''

NYFRB Operations today-the paper game vs 'cash'

Some News from the NYFRB-May 31st 2022

Statement Regarding Agency Mortgage-Backed Securities Small Value Exercise

The New York Fed undertakes certain small value open market transactions from time to time for the purpose of testing operational readiness to implement existing and potential policy directives from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). The FOMC authorizes the New York Fed’s Open Market Trading Desk (the Desk) to conduct these exercises to test its operational readiness in the Authorization for Domestic Open Market Operations and Authorization for Foreign Currency Operations.

In connection with these authorizations, the Desk intends to conduct two small value agency MBS sales operations, which will occur on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 and Wednesday, June 8, 2022, beginning around 2:00 PM ET and ending at 2:30 PM ET. The total current face value of sales across the two operations will not exceed $180 million.

https://www.newyorkfed.org/markets/opolicy/operating_policy_220531

They are telling you this (MBS purchases) will NEVER stop

They are already authorizing 'small operations' here and they are supposed to start reversing this...hahahahahahaha!!

A total of$2.014Tin overall transactions today just to get to the next day-nuffin to see here-this Repo is for overnight and uses 101 counter-parties (the most seen yet) and decrease of $31B over Friday 8th day over the $2T mark overall and this is to get to Wednesday'''

2014

Reverse Repossee cap #2 $1.978T and $28.42B less than Friday.

'Temporary' lending at a $2t level...they said the same thing about removing the $ from muh Gold standard in 1971..."it's just temporary"

https://www.newyorkfed.org/markets/desk-operations/reverse-repo

Mortgage backed Securities (MBS)See Cap #3Way up on the submitted side today-as this is the last 'official' day (Pro-Tip: it isn't) before they start to roll these off as they mature. $8.548B submitted vs. $1.521B accepted in two operations-moar submitted today by $4.495B and moar accepted by $190m These settle on July 21st

https://www.newyorkfed.org/markets/desk-operations/ambs

Securities Lending OperationsSee Cap #4 $40.078B submitted and $35.026B accepted'''

Moar today submitted by $877m and but less accepted that by $2.256B with 30 year Note CUSIP #912810TD0 biggest at $2.858B of that so they got larger with the 30 year note to try and manage mortgage rates but the second biggest amount is the 2 year at$2.797B'They 'use' the 2 year to 'gauge' what the FRB gonna do with Prime rate rises and it is NO mistake they are 'lending' the 2y in just under $33B of them since friday May 20th-so in definitive management mode here-NO RATE HIKE IN SEPTEMBER and why 'The Gambler' told you they folded last week.

BREAKING 🚨 After True the Vote presented ballot trafficking evidence to the Arizona Senate tonight, the response was: "After seeing this, I think we need to move forward with that 2289."

HB 2289 is a bill that states all voting must "occur only on election day and all ballots be cast in person by a voter at the voter's election precinct polling place."

Ballots must also be tabulated by hand within 24 hours of the polls closing.

This AC has taken a few quick trips to the east and back to Hagerstown this one is running a square ISR pattern over Lakehurst Naval Weapons Center at about 15.5k feet today'

The MC-12W is not just an aircraft, but a complete collection, processing, analysis and dissemination system. The aircraft are military versions of the Hawker Beechcraft Super King Air 350ER. A fully operational system consists of a modified aircraft with mission system suit, electro-optical infrared sensors, line-of-sight and satellite communications datalinks, along with a robust voice communications suite.

U.S. President Joe Biden has agreed to provide Ukraine with advanced rocket systems that can strike with precision at long-range Russian targets as part of a $700 million weapons package expected to be unveiled on Wednesday. The United States is providing Ukraine with high mobility artillery rocket systems that can accurately hit targets as far away as 80 km (50 miles) after Ukraine gave "assurances" they will not use the missiles to strike inside Russia, senior administration officials said. In a New York Times op-ed published Tuesday, Biden said Russia's invasion of Ukraine will end through diplomacy but the United States must provide significant weapons and ammunition to give Ukraine the highest leverage at the negotiating table. "That's why I've decided that we will provide the Ukrainians with more advanced rocket systems and munitions that will enable them to more precisely strike key targets on the battlefield in Ukraine," Biden wrote.

The package also includes ammunition, counter fire radars, a number of air surveillance radars, additional Javelin anti-tank missiles, as well as anti-armor weapons, officials said. Ukrainian officials have been asking allies for longer-range missile systems that can fire a barrage of rockets hundreds of miles away, in the hopes of turning the tide in the three-month-long war. Biden on Tuesday told reporters that "we're not going to send to Ukraine rocket systems that strike into Russia."

He did not rule out providing any specific weapons system, but instead appeared to be placing conditions on how they could be used. Biden wants to help Ukraine defend itself but has been opposed to providing weapons that Ukraine could use to attack Russia. Thousands of people have been killed in Ukraine and millions more displaced since the Russian invasion on Feb. 24, which Moscow calls a "special military operation" to "denazify" its neighbor. Ukraine and its Western allies call this a baseless pretext for a war to seize territory. The West has been increasingly willing to give Ukraine longer-range weaponry, including M777 howitzers, as its force battle Russians with more success than intelligence officials had predicted.

But U.S. intelligence has also warned about growing risks, particularly given a mismatch between Russian President Vladimir Putin's apparent ambitions and the performance of his military. Ukraine has started receiving Harpoon anti-ship missiles from Denmark and self-propelled howitzers from the United States, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on Saturday.

The wearing out of that RONIN42 flight from 0524

The RONIN flights are numerous and have seen them in the SW corner of AZ too.

According to ADS-B it never appeared to have landed and it had a flight the the day before see cap#1

However there is some missing time-see below

Cap #1 is day before-it doesn't appear to have landed at Texarkana either even though it has dark green timestamp-that just means the signal was lost and then reacquired

So the next day we have the same exact situation-however it does have some missing time as the first go around shows a definite NOT landing and the timestamps are consistent with a low altitude (lime green dots) pass

But where it gets interdasting is that there is about 1h23minutes where it 'picks up' a trace at 17:48:43 (red underline) and that is what is the issue is here -so what did it do from the fuscia underline at 16:25:06 and it's reappearance at the red underline at 17:48:43

This doesn't really clear it up but there is some missing time and it does not show it landed but it dis 'something for 1 hour, 23 minutes and 37 seconds what that was it still unanswered

Sussman didn't really turn on Hillary or anyone else. It may look like it now but they have a plan. They can lay it at the feet of "play both sides, greatest legal mind🙄 in history, Rod Rosenstein ".

Once he's front and center it will all come out. You won't believe who was working with him behind the scenes. (Check the header)🙏🙏🐷🐷

@ThePositivePatriot

May 31, 2022, 11:57

Here’s the deal.

If Sussman was convicted of lying to FBI as a civilian, it would exonerate HRC and the FBI.

They are letting Sussman walk to indict the entire organization, INCLUDING SUSSMAN on RICO charges.

Have to charge him with something small to get the evidence admitted and verified by witnesses in court. (Like they did to Flynn.) Deals are being made behind closed doors, Sussman will be given a light sentence in the big case.

(1/3)

He DIDN’T LIE to the FBI… the FBI was complicit in the whole staged op. That’s why he was able to bill HRC for talking to them. If he wasn’t paid, then it’s HIS ass on the line and he IS guilty of defrauding the FBI. These are bad actors and the ones who tried to set up the FBI will hang for sedition.

(2/3)

Barr just announced the other day that the case reveals HRC is guilty of SEDITION. Do you know how serious this is? If they slap Sussman on the wrist for lying to the FBI, THE WHOLE THING BLOWS UP and HRC has plausible deniability. “How was I supposed to know he was gonna lie? I was paying my lawyer to represent me.”

USE YOUR BRAIN.

QT2 "Officially" Begins: What Happens Next?

For the second time in the past decade, the Fed will try (and fail) to shrink its balance sheet to some "reasonable" size, a process known as Quantitative Tightening 2. What this means in theory is that, as shown below, the Fed's balance sheet will shrink by $95BN or so every month for the foreseeable futures as existing TSYs ($60BN/month) and MBS ($35BN/month) matures. What it means in practice, is that we will get a brief period of BS shrinkage for a few months before the "next big crisis" emerges and the Fed blows up the balance sheet again. We know this will happen with 100% certainty and without a trace of doubt, if for no other reason than the green agenda of the anti-climate change crusaders, the one event that western politicians have been salivating over for decades, will cost $150 trillion over the next 50 years, of which roughly $2 trillion will come in the form of global QE every year.

But while everyone knows what happens in the medium-to-long term, traders are more focused on how to trade the next few weeks.

For one answer we go to the latest note from JPMorgan flow trader Andrew Tyler who writes that "the question the market needs answered is whether growth is stabilizing after a move lower or if there is more decay to come.... I think it is premature to call the bottom in stocks, which appears to be a consensus view, given QT is about to launch and we are going to get another 100bps in rate hikes over the next 8 weeks." We wonder if his permabullish "buy the dip, any dip" co-worker Marco Kolanovic has read this... we doubt it.

This is fuggen HILARIOUS!!!!

Tyler then pivots to JPM's preview of QT2, as follows: QT2 kicks off tomorrow

Today, on the Rates Sales podcast, they hosted JPM Economist Peter McCrory, who discuss the impact of QT on markets. Podcast is here.

*The TL; DR version is that QT2 could act as a 25bps rate hike in 2022.

*Mike Feroli had published a note, A Roadmap for QT2 (full note available to pro subscribers). The note contains information on the mechanics, impact on financial conditions, the long pathway to normalization, and some thoughts on bank deposits.

*As noted above, by the end of 2023, the Fed is set to shed over $1T in longer-duration assets (in theory), with JPM speculating that "the reduction in bank reserves should have little effect on lending or deposit growth"(it's very wrong).

And here it gets really funny: JPM calculates that "to get back to a “normal” size balance sheet, QT2 may last until 2026 or 2027." Uh, we have some bad news: by 2027, the US will have been in at least one depression, and we will be lucky if the Fed's balance sheet is only twice as large as it is now (and the price of cryptos will be about 10-100x higher than it is now).

QT2 aside, there is still the question of the Fed's rate hikes, at least until the Fed pulls a 180 some time around the August Jackson Hole symposium and the Fed "pauses" in September. According to JPM, here's what to look for: the market continues to price according to Fed guidance (50bps hikes in June and July; 50% of maximum QT pace). Currently, the market has a ~50% probability of a 25bps hike in Sept and 50% probability of a 50bps hike. The market then prices in 25bps in both November and December. This week, keep an eye on whether Waller’s narrative is echoed by other speakers; or, if the Bostic mention of a September pause remains. If we see the Fed pivot and/or turn dovish, then this would benefit stocks. Finally, going back to square one, the question is how does all of this impact the market in the coming days and weeks? According to Andrew Tyler, "the question is one of whether the US bounce is a bear market rally or the continuation of the longer-term bull trend. It is tough to say that we have seen the bottom in stocks given that we have seen a bottom when we still have potential for the Fed to increase its hawkish behavior due to the uncertainty surrounding the next few inflation prints. That said, if an investor wants to short this market, there are challenges given the relatively light positioning among hedge funds and the potential for vol-targeting funds to re-gross and for CTAs to reverse from short to long. Tactically, I think you ride the momentum higher which should be led by Tech and Energy; but, Energy is an idiosyncratic long play given the supply/demand dynamic and supercycle hypothesis."
