A 23-year-old woman was critically injured Sunday when she was hit by an MTA bus on a Brooklyn street, cops said.

The victim was struck by the bus around noon near Nevins and Livingston Street in Boerum Hill, police said.

When officers arrived, the young woman was found unconscious and unresponsive with severe injuries to her body, police said.

The woman is in critical condition.

One person has been killed and five injured, including children, in a shooting in Washington, D.C., just minutes away from the White House. At around 6:15 pm, the suspects drove up and fired into a crowd in the Carver Langston neighborhood on Wednesday evening, according to Police Chief Pamela Smith. Investigators believe the suspects left the car and began shooting at people on the street.They peeled away in a light blue Toyota sedan with no front tags, dark tints and black rims, police say. The vehicle is 'possibly occupied with two shooters inside.'

S. Korea successfully launches 2nd spy satellite into orbit

South Korea successfully launched its second indigenous spy satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida on Monday, according to the defense ministry.

The Falcon 9 lifted off at 7:17 p.m. from the John F. Kennedy Space Center and sent the reconnaissance satellite into orbit approximately 45 minutes after the launch, the ministry said.

It succeeded in communicating with an overseas ground station at 10:57 a.m., it noted.

It is the second military satellite launched under South Korea's plan to acquire five spy satellites by 2025 to better monitor North Korea.

The satellite was equipped with synthetic aperture radar sensors that capture data using microwaves and are capable of collecting data regardless of weather conditions. The other three satellites will also be equipped with SAR sensors.

Electro-optical and infrared sensors capable of capturing detailed images of the Earth's surface were fitted on the first satellite launched in December.

When operated together, the five satellites are expected to provide regular coverage at about two-hour intervals, according to analysts.

"Our military's independent surveillance and reconnaissance capability has been strengthened through the first launch of the SAR satellite. We will continue to prepare for upcoming satellite launches," the ministry said.

The launch comes as Pyongyang is also making its own efforts to acquire space-based reconnaissance capabilities, which could potentiaPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

These are the scenarios up for discussion between Michigan election officials and law enforcement officers at trainings across the state this month to prepare for the upcoming presidential election.

Over boxed Panera Bread lunches in a conference room at Cadillac Place in Detroit last Wednesday, representatives from southeastern Michigan communities shared their ideas of how they respond to a hypothetical election disruption. It was the first of several such "table top exercises" hosted by the Committee for Safe and Secure Elections that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson — the state's chief elections officer — hopes local election administrators and law enforcement will attend.

Trainings in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Traverse City and Marquette aim to help communities start their process to plan for possible contingencies early.
