The woman, who has been identified through court documents as 41-year-old Bethany Jean Toombs, is now facing charges from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Major Crimes Unit from the province of Prince Edward Island.

A leading female gender ideology activist, who also worked as a school counsellor, has been charged with grievous sexual offenses involving a minor.

The woman, who has been identified through court documents as 41-year-old Bethany Jean Toombs, is now facing charges from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Major Crimes Unit from the province of Prince Edward Island.

The charges against her were recently filed in PEI provincial court in the capital Charlottetown, and include sexual assault, sexual interference, as well as invitation to sexual touching. All the charges were made known through an investigation which was started by the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit last month.

Liberal Lucie Moncion disagreed with a piece written by Conservative Donald Plett in the Hill Times about overspending in the Canadian Senate and had her staff submit revisions.

A Trudeau-appointed senator who boasted to colleagues that she was able to successfully get edits made to a commentary piece published by a conservative political rival issued an apology.

“I assure all senators the committee is taking necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t occur again,” said Ontario Senator Lucie Moncion, a former banker and the chair of the Senate committee on internal economy who was appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016. “I wish to offer you my personal, unreserved and unqualified apology.”

Moncion also said that she has “learned from this event,” which made headlines in Canada, after she told the Senate, as reported by LifeSiteNews, that she was able to get a August 21 piece published by Senator Donald Plett, who serves as the Opposition Senate leader, edited from its original form.

Plett, a Conservative, wrote a piece in the Ottawa weekly newspaper the Hill Times titled “Trudeau’s Experimental Senate Changes Are Turning Out To Be A Dud.”

Moncion took issue with what was written in Plett’s piece, telling senators “inaccurate information was presented” and that they had to “remain vigilant.”

According to Moncion, she had members of her staff make the revisions to Plett’s commentary, which included complaints about overspending in the Senate.

Moncion claimed that “(o)nce a newspaper has the facts it is free to change an article, remove it or leave it as is,” adding, “I repeat: The newspaper is free to make corrections.”

Senators were told that the corrections made to Plett’s piece were not due to libel or misstatement but because of a technical aspect, according to Moncion.

The Hill Times is one of Canada’s most heavily subsidized weekly newspapers, receiving more than $1 million in the last 18 months from grants, subsidies, and sole-sourced government contracts.

Plett was not pleased with the changes to his commentary, saying, “This is outrageous. We now have a Senate communications police that will not only ‘fact-check’ what senators say or write outside the chamber, but they will also, in secret, change how you present your thoughts.”

Trudeau has pumped billions into propping up the mostly state-funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as well as providing large payouts for legacy media outlets ahead of the 2025 federal election. In total, the subsidies are expected to cost taxpayers $129 million over the next five years.

Amazon Web Services is launching three projects from Virginia to Washington State. SMRs, which produce no carbon emissions, have smaller footprints and faster construction times than traditional reactors.

CNBC writes that Virginia hosts nearly half of the U.S. data centers, with Northern Virginia’s "Data Center Alley" in Loudoun County handling 70% of the world’s internet traffic daily.

Dominion Energy, meanwhile, supplies 3,500 megawatts to 452 data centers across Virginia, with most in Data Center Alley. Typical data centers require 30 megawatts or more, and Dominion is now receiving requests for 60 to 90 megawatts. It expects demand to grow by 85% in the next 15 years. The Alberta government is launching a nationwide advertising campaign to warn Canadians about the consequences of a federal cap on the oil and gas sector.

This isn’t the first time Alberta has spent money on an advertising drive to counter Liberal government policies harmful to the province’s interests.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and various ministers announced the campaign at a press conference on Tuesday.

Smith said that $7 million would be spent on the ad campaign which includes TV, online, video, print, and social media. The ads won’t only reach Alberta but will also be aired in B.C., Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia until the end of November.

Alberta’s strategy cites three previous reports in its press release highlighting the economic damage the proposed cap would inflict on the Canadian economy.

The Conference Board of Canada’s report estimated that the cap would reduce Canada’s GDP by up to $1 trillion between 2030 and 2040 and lead to the loss of 151,000 jobs by 2030.

An S&P study showed that if implemented the cap would cut production by two million barrels of oil daily, resulting in a projected 51,000 lost jobs and $247 billion in lost GDP by 2035.

Similarly, a Deloitte Canada report indicated that the emissions cap would cause Alberta’s GDP to fall by 4.5% by 2040, while the rest of the country would see a 0.4% decline. Continue…

CBC President and CEO Catherine Tait acknowledged that the state broadcaster is poised to have its funding cut in the near future as “the defund narrative has picked up momentum,” according to an internal email she sent out earlier this year.

Tait’s email was sent out in January requesting that two staff members volunteer for a committee being organized by the heritage minister to help create a government plan for CBC/Radio-Canada.

The email was later obtained by the National Post through an access-to-information request, however, its two recipients’ names were redacted. Tait said their participation was “critical to the issues on the table.”

“Sadly, the ‘defund’ narrative has picked up momentum — especially as it relates to CBC television. I believe the industry must rally if we are to secure Canadian-owned production for the future,” Tait wrote.

The email went on to say that 2025 would be a “big year” for the industry.

True North contacted CBC to further expand on Tait’s email, however, a spokesperson responded by saying “we won’t comment on private correspondence.”

Tait’s contract as CBC’s president and CEO is slated to end in January, with the government expected to announce her replacement this fall.

Top government officials in Slovakia are moving to ban “dangerous” Covid mRNA shots from the country after an explosive investigation determined that the pandemic was a “fabricated operation” and the “vaccines” were a resulting “act of bioterrorism.”

The government tax agency launched an internal review in June 2023, after several employees were found to have illegitimately received CERB payments.

The inquiry ultimately led to as many as 600 employees being investigated.

“Starting in July 2024, for individuals who have not responded or co-operated, and who have been determined to have the financial capacity to pay, legal warnings will be issued and legal measures could be taken to recover monies owed,” wrote the CRA in a statement released in June.

According to the agency, only people who have already been contacted about repaying their debt are the ones who should be worried.

The federal budget watchdog estimates that the Liberal government’s deficit will reach a whopping $46.8 billion this year.

“Based on our analysis, the government will not meet its fiscal commitment to keep the deficit below $40 billion in 2023-24,” said Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux in his latest Economic and Fiscal Outlook report.

However, it won’t be until Giroux publishes the PBO’s annual public accounts report later this fall that the government’s deficit will be fully accounted for.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland vowed to keep the deficit capped below $40 billion last year, stating in her spring budget that the government was on track to keep their promise.

“As bad as the budget was, the independent budget watchdog is showing federal finances are in even worse shape,” said Franco Terrazzano, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in a statement.

“The Trudeau government continues to mismanage our finances and that means more money wasted on interest charges, higher taxes and more debt that Canadians’ kids and grandkids have to pay back.”

After seeing an increase from Budget 2024’s deficit of $39.8 billion, the CTF is calling on the federal government to “immediately cut spending” now that the deficit is already $6.6 billion over budget.

Both the US Defense Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment on the leaked documents.

The City of Prince Albert contained more traces of meth per capita in its wastewater between March 2022 and May 2023 than any other city in the county, and by a long shot, noted the agency.

Researchers discovered anywhere from 935 to 2,406 milligrams of meth per 1,000 people per day in Prince Albert’s sewage.

“Drug use in Canada has become a significant public health concern, with opioid use, addiction, and resulting deaths standing out as particularly pressing issues,” reads the Statistics Canada report.

The federal government will soon ban flavoured vape products across Canada, according to Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Ya’ara Saks.

The announcement comes over three years after the Trudeau government first pledged to usher in new restrictions in 2021.

The minister’s promise was in response to a press conference held in Ottawa earlier this month by an anti-tobacco coalition that demanded Saks either resign or immediately implement the ban.

“We have made a commitment from the start to restrict flavours. We haven’t wavered from that,” Ya’ara Saks told CBC News last week. “We will have this in place soon. I don’t anticipate this is going to take much longer.”

However, Saks provided no specific timeline.

The anti-tobacco groups blamed the minister’s failure to finalize regulations planned for earlier this year as the result of Saks succumbing to pressure from the vaping industry.

Chinese drone giant DJI sued the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) on Oct. 18 for including the company in the department’s list of Chinese military companies.

DJI, which makes up more than half of the U.S. commercial drone market, said it’s “neither owned nor controlled by the Chinese military.”

The company also said it’s not a contributor to China’s military-civil fusion strategy or its military modernization.

The China-based company argued that the DOD’s designation is “arbitrary and capricious” and asked a district court in Washington to order its deletion from the list.

In 2021, Congress passed legislation requiring the Pentagon to compile a list of Chinese military companies operating in the United States.

DJI was added to the list in October 2022. According to the DJI complaint, the Pentagon renewed the designation in January this year despite the company’s 16-month effort seeking removal from the list.

The drone maker said the designation has “caused significant and ongoing harm,” reflected in canceled contracts and “pervasive stigmatization” of the company and its employees.

Canada’s high capital gains rates, corporate and digital service taxes could be driving investment away, according to an international report that ranks tax competitiveness among developed nations.

According to the International Tax Foundations’ 2024 International Tax Competitiveness Index, Canada’s tax competitiveness fell two ranks down to 17th out of 38 other Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries.

The study examined changes in each country’s tax systems and graded each based on its competitiveness and neutrality.

“A competitive tax code is one that keeps marginal tax rates low,” the report said. “If a country’s tax rate is too high, it will drive investment elsewhere, leading to slower economic growth. In addition, high marginal tax rates can impede domestic investment and lead to tax avoidance.”

The report defines a neutral tax system as one that raises revenue but minimizes economic distortions in the market.

“This means that it doesn’t favour consumption over saving, as happens with investment taxes and wealth taxes,” the report said. “It also means few or no targeted tax breaks for specific activities carried out by businesses or individuals.”

When a tax system influences investors and businesses to make decisions they otherwise wouldn’t make without those taxes, it causes economic distortions. Continue…

Following an outpouring of emails from concerned parents, the Durham District School Board rejected a motion to remove public questions during meetings and instead passed a motion for a report defining the public’s right to participate.

A September Governance and Policy Committee meeting caught the attention of a local parental rights activist group after it caught wind of a recommendation to amend bylaws and remove the question period from the school board meeting agendas.

The DDSB Concerned Parents Facebook group urged its community members to attend the next meeting on Monday when the proposal was up for a vote. The group told its members to send letters to the trustees to vote against removing sections 5.12.13 to 5.12.16 of the DDSB bylaws, which would eliminate “the taxpayers right to ask questions at school board meetings.”

“While I may not attend every meeting or regularly pose questions, I have exercised my right to do so in the past, and I fully intend to protect this right going forward,” the letter said. “As a taxpayer, I believe this proposal infringes on my rights, including my Charter Rights to freedom of expression, which takes precedence over any such policy changes.”

Ontario laws on school board committee meetings include the right for the public to participate in public meetings. However, the laws do not specify that this must be done during a question-and-answer period during meetings.

The narrative that criminalizing drugs is rooted in racism has been flipped on its head, according to a recent poll conducted in British Columbia with fewer minorities thinking that treating drug use as a crime was racist than their white counterparts.

Mainstreet Research conducted a survey in B.C. last month for the Centre For Responsible Drug Policy and the MacDonald-Laurier Institute asking residents three questions, one of which was “Do you agree or disagree that criminalizing drugs is racist?”

Of the more than 12,000 British Columbians who participated, Indigenous respondents were the most likely to disagree that such a policy was racist, according to the poll’s preliminary findings.

The Drugs and Racial Justice Report has thus far arrived at the opposite conclusion claimed by harm reduction activists and many public health officials as non-white British Columbians overwhelmingly don’t perceive the criminalization of drugs to be racially motivated.

Canada’s deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland has come public yesterday to say that she believes Justin Trudeau has the support of a majority of Liberals in Parliament.

Freeland and other Cabinet members voiced support for the prime minister on Tuesday ahead of a broader – and potentially troublesome – meeting with colleagues, after a number of Liberals have signed a letter hoping to persuade Trudeau to step down before the next election.

At this point it is unclear how many MPs signed the letter.

New Zealand has been implicated in the leak of classified documents which outline the United States’ assessment of Israel’s plan to attack Iran.

According to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, President Joe Biden is “deeply concerned” about the leak.

One of the documents says it was compiled by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), while the other appears to have originated from the National Security Agency (NSA).

The two documents, marked “top secret,” were shared within the Five Eyes intelligence alliance of the United States, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

They include the acronym FGI, standing for Foreign Government Intelligence.

They were published on an Iranian-aligned Telegram account called “Middle East Spectator” last week, but Kirby said there was no “indication” that any additional documents will “[find] their way into the public domain.”

New Zealand has recently been the victim of several successful hacks by foreign powers. The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB), the country’s intelligence agency, recently suffered a $7 million (US$4.7 million) budget cut.

Iran has a large and sophisticated cyber-warfare capability, so the possibility of a hostile hack is being investigated by U.S. intelligence agencies and the FBI. Continue…

In keeping up with the global easing frenzy, and also in keeping with its promises from last month when it said to "expects further cuts", moments ago the Bank of Canada - home of what may be the world's biggest housing bubble - stepped up the pace of interest-rate cuts and signaled that the post-pandemic era of high inflation is over when the central bank cut the benchmark overnight rate to 3.75% on Wednesday, the biggest reduction in borrowing costs since March 2020 during the early days of the pandemic.

The Bank of Canada started easing borrowing costs with a quarter percentage-point reduction in June. It cut again by 25 basis points at each meeting in July and September. The next and final rate decision for this year is on Dec. 11, when some economists already project another 50 basis-point cut.

The University Health Network (UHN) is making masks mandatory as respiratory illness season ramps up.

Starting on Oct. 28, visitors to UHN sites will need to wear a mask when receiving or waiting for care.

“This requirement applies to patients, visitors, and staff. You must also still wear a mask in areas where many patients may be at a higher risk of illness,” the hospital network said in a note posted on its website.

Masks will still be optional in common areas such as lobbies and food courts.

UHN includes Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto Rehab, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and other sites.

He is believed to have links with Pakistan, where he was photographed carrying an AK-47.

These people have held referendums for an independent country carved out of India’s Punjab state. They have issued death threats against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and burnt him in effigy.
