Finally, we come to Bobby's home next to the giant metal door the NPC mentioned, but sadly it appears our time here is over. This part of the game is still a work in progress. /clang/'s waifu appears to confirm that this part is indeed not finished yet.

Earlier in another village I heard that there is a Witch in the Swamp, but I have searched around and although I activated a few of the electrical towers I can't seem to find anything else. I think maybe I have to go beyond Bobby's metal door before I ever come to the Witch. The electrical towers may be something that Bobby needs before the big metal door opens to the rest of the Swamp area, but again, this part of the game isn't done.

So I guess I'm done unless I go all the way back to the Volcano area. There was another warp to a bonus stage but I didn't have enough Dreamstones to enter it. It was the only bonus level that I was unable to enter. It's worth mentioning that warps only enter bonus levels. Unless I missed something there is no fast travel. Going back to the Volcano where that bonus level is could take a long time.

So long for now, French loli. Your character is a little too prickly for my tastes, but your design and outfits are very cute.

Here's some other stuff I screen-shotted along with other thoughts. The Muppet who made the ammunition vending machines is a Texan. There was a big mechanical Boar early in the game that looks more intimidating than it actually is. I liked the Big Boomstick shotgun, but it took was too long to reload and its range was useless for hitting the upper portions of the Robot Totem boss (hardest boss btw) so later I wound up with the Sniper Rifle instead. The Drizzler (I think it was called) is essentially a squirtgun shotgun, but with an arch to the projectiles so you can blast enemies close range or do an arching downpour at a medium distance if needed; It was alright so I kept that one so I'd still have a shotgun-like weapon. I didn't really use the automatic weapons, most are semi-auto. There was an enemy like the Bio-mechanoids from Serious Sam, but it's face is Mudkip. There's a lot more of them in the Swamp. I didn't use the Elixirs very much, but they were necessary a few times. When you wear your hair up in the ponytail it has some physics and sways with you, but when you wear your hair down it just sticks to you like it is glued to your back. This made the French outfit kinda lame because you can only wear your hair down with it and it removes those hair physics.

I just went and tested the Hovercraft for co-op. The Hovercraft has two seats so I suspected that both players would use it at the same time and that is the case. French loli is the driver, Blonde loli is the gunner. That might depend on who enters the vehicle first though. The mounted gun on the Hovercraft can turn completely around and shoot the Hovercraft itself so you can actually blow up your own Hovercraft. This means player 2 can be a jackass in co-op and destroy your vehicle while you're both riding in it. Maybe that's why the devs left that in. There's no friendly fire so if you wanna be a dick in co-op your options are limited.

I noticed certain pattern on games that have survival and wilderness elements, take as an example S.T.A.L.K.E.R., in vanilla you have blind dogs that aren't actively agressive, just territorial, boars and fleshes behave in the same manner, now most mods try to be like Call of Misery (this is a trend since MISERY for CoP), the mod makes the game harder, so now all the mutants are actively agressive and will chase you across the entire map (in the MISERY days, i was chased by a whole zoo of mutants, snorks, pseudodogs, bloosuckers), so they overwritten the A-life on them to not hunt other mutants and also you will see stuff like boars stalking you like a bloodsucker or snork and cats killing you with one hit, they are deadlier than pseudodogs being smaller (like a compact bloodsucker), so often you get killed by dogs in the end (in vanilla blindogs can be even helpfull because they will chase mutants like snorks that enters their territory), also there are games like neo-scavenger where you can get killed by a willd dog if you dont have the melee perk, and in neo-scavenger like in MISERY you need the specific stuff do tasks like getting something to drink, in neo-scavenger you get sick if you drink spring water, you need to get the Wallmart(TM) purification tables, you can boil it, but its spring water, you can get poisoned (not even infected) or you cant make a sack from clothes and carry it with a strap, you need to get the Wallmart (TM) survival backpack, same as in MISERY where food is expensive because hard games are good.

Now there are games like Unreal World, STALKER vanilla whit the mutant A-life, Banished, Pathologic where a piece of cloth can help you prevent an infection in some degree, that are more beliable in rewards of dangers and difficulties, i am the only one that noticed this trend of games with devs that think a dog can kill an adult man? where to solve X you need an specific Y item that is manufactured and you find in stores and there is no work arround to solve X without Y?, this behaivor always repeat with canis animals, like in the Long Dark where wolves are roadblocks.

<Could someone please explain to me why this bullshit hasn't changed an ounce in the past 40 years that video game RPGs have existed?

One of the problems I always have with RPGs is that the numbers seem like a trivial concept in the long run. All you really have to do is just make sure that your character has the higher number than the opponent, and you win? And, the only time that this isn't true is when you have the "Rock-Paper-Scissors" game mechanic that is classes/types (Fire burns grass, axes beat swords, etc.). Whenever I play an RPG, THIS seems to be the one concept that prevents me from actually enjoying the damn thing, with the only placebo to be had is when it's an ARPG because, then, I'm actually doing something besides just watch the numbers tick away.

Why do such extensive stats systems exist with such arbitrary information when it doesn't really effect the actual gameplay?

What about ghosts or possessed armors? What about a run of the mill dragon, is that breath attack fire element or physical? What about a dinosaur? What about humans or elves? What about a cyclops? How do you determine status effect weaknesses? What in the case of bosses? Not so simple now is it. Thankfully, it's all one wiki search away and the game becomes easy mode, because difficulty hinges on you not knowing shit!

I said DEF. Going full glass cannon is not always the best of strategies. Moreover, putting all your eggs in one basket doesn't always give the best results. A pure STR warrior may benefit from some SPD, or not.

it's fun to specialize when you already know what you're doing, otherwise it sucks as some games punish you for raising the wrong stats or leveling up the wrong skills (which you wouldn't know until the moment of truth). Thankfully, this is a moot point in plenty of games because remedying screw-ups is as simple as changing class or equipped abilities/items and you can max all skills.

First, this is literally how every single game work in the end. Second, often time most bosses are quite hard because they lack evident weaknesses. The player must use develop an strategy to defeat an enemy. Take games like Nocturne for example, Persona 5. Bosses are often time immune to elements and weaknesses, so in turn you must try and use what skills and demons you have to overcome them. Third, you seem to forget the turn-to-turn decision making that can make you win or lose. Finally, if you try random shit to find enemy weaknesses instead of actually fighting in a way that allows you to survive while still "try random shit" is more your fault than anything else. Buffing defenses, immunities, playing defensively while poking the enemy are possible strategies.

Why the fuck would you need to datamine a game to beat it? Just play, experiment and learn. Are people turned off by meta explanations and mechanics? Their immersion ruined? I don't see why it's that hard. Fiction has long served to make out of our imaginations what we think we should have, and life has no good explanations or mechanics to explain why reality even exists, why reality is as it is, etc, why wouldn't we make up for this in fiction more often? I often wonder, why am I able to experience this game? How am I this disconnected and nearly omnipresent entity in this game's world? How does this game's world exist, in relation to ours? Why am I experiencing this game? Why can I start over when I die? I like how in Bloodborne, you can explain it all away as a lucid daydream. That explains everything and completely justifies the game's everything. I could give more examples, but this pretty much explains what I'm going for. Games that don't justify everything and make it all make sense just feel hollow. Another problem is, the lack of connection to reality. The vast majority of games don't even go as far to include a moral to the story, much less some deep/intricate philosophizing that isn't a pointless rehash of some famous philosopher or two. You don't really gain anything from the vast majority of games, aside from wasted time. I like what NieR: Automata did, being a celebration of humanity and the human experience, 3000 years of history and thought, and in people who are stuck suffering, it can kindle a love for the human experience, something many lack, among many other things. In a medium limited only by the imagination, much like books, art, and animation, it's sad to see so many creatives stop short of being a complete experience. Eh.

I just got to fucking Atlantica in KH2 and it made me want to kill myself and make this thread.

What are some really shit minigames? Between bad Mario Party minigames, boring minigames in GTA and out-of-place rhythm minigames that come out of fucking nowhere, I feel like devs have this weird notion that making the player do more things that aren't the main gameplay somehow equals more fun. Or they just really like dumb minigames. Either way unless it's Yakuza it usually doesn't turn out very well.
