Are there any places where a friend could find to acquire games, such as Rimworld, Shovel Knight, Factorio, among other indie titles? What's the risk of shitty quality or broken games due solely to these alternative acquisition methods?

Enemies/Bosses that stops people from playing a game.

Wyvern from vagrant story, the first boss where you need to understand stats and game mechanics in order to do any damage. Also most people likely underestimate it since you fight a wounded wyvern in the beginning of the game.

Zombie Master: Reborn is the revival of an abandoned Half-Life 2 mod, the mod mixes up both FPS and RTS elements where the survivors must fight through a horde of zombies and avoid dangerous traps controlled by the incarnation of evil: the Zombie Master.

ZMR is current in Beta version 5, the mod has been re-built in Source 2013 and contains various fixes to the bugs of the original mod along with a new new HUD, new weapons, new models and animations, improvements to the zombie path finding, matching viewmodel arms, survivor AI, a new zombie selection menu and the ability for map makers to create their own custom weapons.

You can get the mod here on ModDB. http://www.moddb.com/mods/zombie-master-reborn To play it you only need the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer installed.

Hello /v/, it's been a long time since we last met, but Admiral Anon is back as promised to run Rule the Wa/v/es 2.

Between 2016-2018, I ran a several series of threads on 8ch called Rule the Wa/v/es. In each series we would play a campaign of Rule the Waves, with /v/ making decisions as they occured in game. To date, we have played Japan twice and Italy once.

>What the fuck is Rule the Waves?

In short, RtW is a naval management sim, where you play the head of a nation's Navy between the years of 1900 and 1955. You manage ship design, balance your budget, conduct some level of diplomacy and wage war with your ships. In theory, each year your fleet grows stronger and more modern, you amass a war chest for when things heat up and you utilize each portion of your fleet in it's role to destroy your counterpart's fleets.

In actuality, things never go as planned. Your new scout cruiser can't meet it's design speed because someone fucked up in engineering. You can't afford to send it in to be refitted because the politicians are demanding new battleships, even though your scientists are promising that they're only a few weeks away from technology that will render any ship under construction today obsolete. They've been saying that for months. Some French anarchist shoots your nation's diplomat and kicks off a war you aren't ready for. In battle, your flagship signals your escorts to screen the main force against enemy torpedo attacks, but the division leader misreads it as "suicidally charge the enemy battle line". After six grueling years of war and with France on the brink of collapse, Great Britain steps in and mediates a peace treaty. There will be no border changes and no repetitions.

>So what are we doing?

This thread is to get things rolling, I'll provide the options we have for a campaign for the thread to discuss. The big things we need to decide upon are: Nation, tech rate and modifiers. RtW also supports an advanced 1920 start date, but for our purposes I believe the standard 1900 start works best.

With our victory we seize a significant portion of the coastline, gaining ownership over three ports. If any future war erupts with Italy, this would permit operations along their East coast. If we build airbases along here, any war with Italy is going to have non-stop air combat as our bases raid each other Tensions across Europe settle as peace is renewed, although our budget suffers with it. Still, with a few ships placed in reserve and with a major ship nearly finished we should be fine.

However, lets talk about our light cruiser forces. We currently have three models of cruiser, the Coetlogon14, Abloux, and Surcouf. Now, the Surcouf's are pretty much useless, they've just been holding down the colonies. The Coetlogons and the Ablouxs have been present in most of our engagements however, and seem to be workable, if not fantastic, as of right now. But the problem is that each year, the average ship is getting faster, and while 22kts was perfectly good in 1900, in 1909 it's only average. In 5 years or so it'll be poor, and 5 after that these ships will almost certainly be a liability, not an asset to our fleet.

So what can we do? Well, lets look at the Coetlogon. If we replace the engines we can bump the speed up to 26kts, which will be decent for a decade or so. We can replace the main guns with improved models and improve the fire control as well. While it wouldn't make it a top-tier ship, it would be rather on-par with most other medium-caliber light cruisers. All this would cost about 14,000 units of cash. Now here's the problem: if we simply take the design, hand it to a shipyard and say "build this, but with all the advances of modern hull construction, form and armor" we can have all of the exact same stats, but also change the armor configuration from a protected cruiser to a turtleback for those unaware, a turtleback armor configuration means that an incoming shell has to penetrate both the armored belt AND the deck in order to hit an engine room or magazine. And this entire process would cost just over 15,000 units. For the Abloux, a similar story plays out, but with the costs being 20k for a rebuild, 24k for a new ship.

idk how old your machines are but I got a couple of Win98 machines from my mom's old workplace. Upgraded one to Win2K and put my GPU from 2003 in it (Radeon 9600 Pro), it handles everything like a champ. Even used it for a Diablo 2 gamenight here once.

Despite having my fucking dipshit relatives trash my classic computer collection, costing me a complete A500, almost every Apple computer released from the Apple ][ to the iMac, and a bunch of old 286, 386, and 486 systems, for which I will be eternally angry, I have two 486 systems (60MHz, 66MHz), two Pentium systems (60MHz, 125(?)MHz), my first computer (AMD K6-2 300) running Win98SE, but all of my early 2000s systems had capacitor plague, so my next oldest operational PC is running Win7. With the Kung-Flu gearing up to wipe out a double-digit percentage of humanity, I can't order caps to restore those old boards just yet. Resellers in the US want stupid money for them, when they all came from the same damn factory.

Here we Discuss relassed games that people just forgot about them and nobody speaks of them independant of the reason that they were forgoten

There is this kickstarter River City Ransom sequel called River City Ransom Underground it seems it was hyped by the community back in the day (2016?), it plays like an expanded Eiver City Ransom game, it has more characters, more skills, more enemies, etc. The thing is that when i played i felt that none of the characters were interesting, this game has many unlockable characters yet there are a few that catched my attention, there was this breakdancer girl (actually its just because she is fast, she is a generic brawler), some fat grappler dude, some wrestler with slow attacks that is useless until you unlock high level skills (still not as good as the rest), some brawler blonde girl (has a rage mode so that makes her different) and other girl with skates, most of the other characters are brawlers focussed on punching or useless wrestlers, it puzzles me how they made so many characters with assets and skills yet a few of them are interesting, others are just dull.

Just buy an older Nintendo Switch (>2018) and softmod it to play pirated games. All you need is a paperclip (preferably a jig) and a decent microSD card. It's so easy to just pirate anything that my Switch is full of games I haven't even played yet plus emulators and roms.

The RRP on the Xbox and Playstation digital stores are at parity with physical retail at launch. Later on they get discounted and/or go on sale. Source: I was a manager at EB Games in Australia and it was corporate policy. It's also the reason the company never sold the PSGo (remember that?). Because there was no physical market for it, so we'd essentially be selling (at cost mind you) a Sony-exclusive store in our store and making zero future profit on it. Profits are made on software, not hardware, and that goes for retailers too because the margins are shit.

I enjoyed MGSV but it got repetitive like almost every sandbox game does. The critical difference is that PW isn't a sandbox game. It's a mission-based game with a similar progression system. Missions are nice from a design perspective because you don't have to account for everything happening all the time – it gives you control. I think PW has a "cleaner" design, if that makes sense. Kind of like comparing Doom to a game like modern Far Cry (if modern Far Cry wasn't complete shit, but instead just kinda bloated). Almost all the mechanics feel like they have a very specific and useful purpose in the former, whereas in the latter you have a giant box full of options to solve any problem. Which is fun for a while but also makes the game easy once you try out all the options and figure out which ones are best, because unless you're a master at design, there's usually one or only a few that stand out.

I tried every companion in MGSV and at first I dismissed D-WALKER, then I realized I could roller skate all over the map like a 90's kid, equip the missile launcher to instantly shit on any unexpected vehicles, and leave it in a convenient spot by a hill so I could just skate across to the other side of the mission area. The mobility was worth more than anything. Quiet actually annoys me with her humming and D-DOG feels like a straight-up easy button, so I got bored of him after a while. Plus he becomes less useful once you get a feel for the AI's behavior. A wealth of options for the player always seems like a good thing on paper, but it can make designing the rest of the game a lot more difficult.

Just gonna leave this here. Been reliving the old days through my memorized accounts. AQW is a total shitshow that's become a laggy mess of mismatching artsyles, characters, and P2W items, DF is alright, and AQ is more or less the same, but also suffering from some of later design choices/replacements/redesigns, some items grind the entire client to a halt if used. They've also added in (unfortunately) fucking monster level scaling, which sometimes can utterly fuck you in either DF or AQ depending on the monster it beefs up. I will note that AQW & DF are a bit more respectable because they let you replay the generations of development it's been through in sagas, (and of course, fiding workarounds to lost or hidden content through these unpolshed archived adventures is a treat.) To note, they've fucked dragonslayers in the as with changes to the dragonblade and once cool but weak, megadragonblade, but they've updated the Darkovia subaces & class armours, Werepyre is broken as shit and makes some of the hardest crap-uneatable HP spongeshit cakewalk.

To list a number of adventures I've had so far in AQ:

Fought the Demonic undead Moglin spirit of NTR who places you in cuck-chains and made him a pet in the void. (Makes foe lose a turn, broken as shit if paired with the overlord set & icemaster Yeti guest)

Gotten 100 Hourglasses to obtain a set that turns you into the grim reaper, grinding FPS to a halt and only really being good to melee users despite literally being fucking grim reaper armour- the scythe you get trumps anything else, fuking thing hits in the 1000's if you have ironthorn equipped/high enough LCK & STR with the whole set boostiing damage output in exchange for HP cost- it's essentially a high damage anti-mage slightly crappier version of the Void set

Shilled out z-tokens to purchase a void damage weapon to make up for fights where opponents have piss-poor elemental damage modifiers and inventory slots, because my season items are really just awful investiments long-term

Attempted to make my own custom weapon, level scaling fucks me most of the time.

Done April foools quests, involving rule 63 april fools, baby-fetish april-fools and end of the world april fools - Galanoth is literally into himself

Yeah, MQDab, but I couldn't figure out how to get Star Captain on it so I'm using an old one.

Unfortunately, I found out using the hacks to steal the Star Captain shop items will only last in your inventory for that session since it's not stored on the server (since you're not really a SC). Also can't get the extra stat when leveling up and training bc it gives an error if you train up stats above your non-SC limits.

I fucking wish. The whole game is still stored on their servers so there's no way to play it offline. You can still do a lot of fuckery in it. Right now I just use the Star Captain hack to get access to all the SC stuff (not the shop) and get extra XP/Credits.

Basically, if you're looking for a sort of strange mix between Danganronpa, 999 and Ace Attorney but with surprisingly good writing and believable behaviors for the main cast of characters, a story who isn't afraid to take itself seriously despite a low production value (Japanese indie game), then you must give Your Turn To Die a try. It's available to play for free in english, downloaded or on your browser. It even works on mobile, but I've heard that some sections are really laggy/unplayable though, so I'd recommend just downloading the game. There's also a bonus sim-management game called "Your Time To Shine" but you should play it only after having finished the main game because it spoils stuff from it.

Seeing as the first part of the final chapter will be released in one week, I thought it would be appropriate to make a thread about this game in order to talk about it. For those who have already played it up to chapter 2 part 2, what are :

It's logical to think that the best players in a survival game (where, as he has seen, nobody has a GOOD survival rate) will be the ones who won't hesitate to throw others under the bus after showing a kind face. He thought Sara and Keiji were just pretending to be genuinely interested in getting to the bottom of things right up until the second half of 2-2's trial, and they were actually 4D chessing everything to LOOK like the good guys (which, to be fair, Keiji actually did do - but with Q-taro instead of Sara). This caused him to try and imitate that style of play and fail miserably and make himself the shadiest motherfucker in the group by far. I really love how it backfired on him early on, compared to how Nagito and Ouma were portrayed in DR.

Sou is just destined to fail at pretty much everything. It's impressive that they managed to make him a geninely good first arc villain despite that.

You've got the timeline a little wrong. Up until the second part of the voting process, nobody outside of Sara claimed that she was the keymaster so it wasn't clear if she was doing so in order to keep herself safe, or if she really was trying to prevent a tragedy from occurring. He clumsily managed to create a situation where voting for the sage (that he tried to draw out the entire time with his antics) was the only way possible for the group to survive, since everybody could have been the sacrifice even if in his eyes everything was almost clear. Almost, because up until Kai refused to talk, Sara could have been the sage, and Kai the keymaster.
