>Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser told CNBC that “there’s no standard pricing” for Switch 2 games. He described aspects like gameplay depth and longevity as factors that went into Nintendo’s pricing strategy, but nothing is set in stone.
>$40 pricier than the previous Mario Kart (albeit a re-release of a Wii U game), the more than 30% bump has been a major talking point. Donkey Kong Bananza, another new game coming to the Switch 2, is listed for a slightly lower $109.95 via EB Games.
>He then explained that Donkey Kong Bananza is $10 cheaper than Mario Kart World “because that is what we feel is the right price point for that particular gaming experience.”
>Speculation remains rampant over whether Mario Kart World’s price will scare people off. Cartwright is quick to remind detractors that $100-plus games have “already happened” and that “Nintendo is not new” to the current price trend. He pointed to a full-priced copy of 2022’s God of War: Ragnarok costing $124.95 as evidence.
Yes but is a game like Mario Kart World worth the same price as a game like God Of War: Ragnorok?

Literal retards are funding this company at this point, you would not believe the positivity I've seen shown towards todays MKW presentation. They'll pay anything for this slop. IMO it looks exactly the same as MK8, it feels like DLC. Nintendo are so dead to me, sad.

The fact of the matter is that Nintendo have done so well with the switch, they can eat a slow start to the S2. They will try the higher price point and if it's not panning out for them, they will walk it back. The only way things stay like this is if enough people accept it.

Are you waiting for switch 3 to play switch 2 games? Donkey kong looked really framey and even mario kart had multiple frame drops.
It will be less noticable on the switch 2 VRR display but apparently the switch 2 doesnt support VRR when docked.

Nintendo is targeting the 30+ year old consumer with money to spare to buy consoles and games, which is a mistake since their games are so childish and simplistic.
Today's 10-15 year olds are all being influenced by memes like "if buying isn't owning, pirating isn't stealing" or things like that, at least that's what I see from their opinions, and releasing super expensive games in this reality will make all these young people start adopting PCs as their only entertainment center (which they've been doing for a while, every young person wants to become a youtuber or some shit).

Here in my country they cost 500 local moneys. For comparison, a AAA release on Steam costs $250, smaller games cost around $150, and indie games will be somewhere between $30-$60.
So, here, a Nintendo game will cost:
> 2x the value of a AAA
> 3x the value of an AA
> 6x the value of an indie
I hope this is the final motivation for everyone here to finally migrate to PCs.

Nintendo charges 80-90 dollars on games, 400 and a half for their console, and 10 dollars for an instruction manual, and then they expect you and want you to NOT pirate their shit
Games in general should NEVER be over 50 dollars

They do it because other console developers got away with charging 70-120 dollars for games and also charging more for basic features like online functionality and backwards compatibility. Whether or not console gaming is truly lost will be determined by how many nintendrones are willing to take the backshots.

I found a professional who installs the modchip for $80 on the Switch 1. I'm seriously thinking about installing it, but I'd like to know from someone who has the Switch unlocked here how easy it really is to install pirated games. Will I have to keep updating firmwares or things like that? Or do I just drag the pirated games onto the SD card and play?

Why mod a switch instead of using RyujinX? And yes, you have to update you System *and* your custom firmware seperately. You also need to update your sig patches. It's a gigantic pain in the ass, I don't know why anyone with a decent PC would ever remotely consider it worth it.

It's precisely because my PC is decent that I wanted to hack the Switch, since it's gathering dust here. But with infinite access to games, I'd definitely use it a lot.
Anyway, A-Train 9 v5.0 has just been released on Steam for the West, so I'll have my hands full playing it over the next few months. I'll think about the Switch later.
Maybe with the release of Switch 2, Nintendo will stop updating Switch 1 and I won't need to keep updating things, I don't know?

Going back to this, I'll just say this
50 bucks is how much any video game should cost, consoles 300 bucks max, the controllers would be 20-30 bucks and online service should be entirely free no more than that, that's how it should be for all consoles
Anything more than that is insane
It should be ILLEGAL for them to charge this much. It's practically highway robbery.
Remember the PS5?, terribly expensive, and it barely had any fucking games in it, and the game it did have? Sucked ass (and we're gay faggot shit)
So these game companies need to be held responsible for this shit so they don't do it, no one challenges them or holds them accountable and that makes em think they can get away with making things over expensive

Honestly games all should cost different amounts of money. Every game costing the same has been holding the industry back because not every game has the same level of demand so everyone was chasing the broadest appeal possible. Now whether or not a game is worth over a hundred dollars in any countries currency is another conversation.
