Breaking:US oil imports from Saudi Arabia at zero in July, first time in 40 years
Investing.com – US imports of Saudi Arabian oil fell to zero in July, marking the first time an entire month passed without such shipments since 1985, preliminary government data showed.
The halt in Saudi oil exports to the US stems from disruptions caused by the US-Iran conflict, which has largely shut down Persian Gulf crude flows. US Department of Energy data released Wednesday confirmed that US-bound shipments of Saudi crude stopped completely last month. The drop represents a sharp change from earlier this year, when US refiners were purchasing more than 800,000 barrels of Saudi oil daily.

The initial story, usually the most accurate {source}, stated that at an area within the Leipzig/Halle Airport complex in Germany, a smalltour group noticed a drone flying low to the ground in/around the area where cargo planes are located. Leipzig is used by NATO as a cargo airport to deliver weapons.
The driver of the bus got out, pushed the drone to the ground and called airport authorities to notify them. The drone was located near the area where two Ukrainian Antonov aircraft were located.The airport houses two Ukraine Antonov aircraft not being used, and three Russian Antonov’s’ grounded and stored since EU sanctions.
The drone was a quadcopter type, with limited distance capabilities. Inspection of the drone revealedit carried 800 grams of explosive material and a faulty detonator. The drone was taken into custody by airport authorities.
As the initial report was made the airport triggered standard security practices rerouting cargo planes.A rerouted DHL cargo carrier then encountered another drone about 400 meters in altitude, which hit the nose of the plane. The plane diverted to Hannover and landed without issue._
This quadcopter drone at Leipzig Airport happens on thesame day that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy accused Russia of attacking a street vendor in Kherson, Ukraine, with an almost identical drone.

Remarkably, the guy in the video above is ok, he suffered minor (non-penetrating) injuries.
This Russia attack narrative just doesn’t pass the smell test. First, why would Russia care about a guy at a street market in Kherson? Second, the quadcopter drone operator has to be close to the event in order to fly the drone and detonate the payload.
AIRPORT DRONE – The area of the airport in Leipzig, Germany,is unused and there’s no way this quadcopter drone flew all the way into this area from Russia. Again, likely someone had to be close to the operation, or if remote operated from a distance they would have to deliver it somewhere close to launch it.
It is fair to say we are in an information war and increasingly it is impossible to tell which side is carrying out the activity.
In the airport drone incident, despite the claims of the EU attributing the origin to Russia,there is no substantive value for Russia in such an action. Simultaneously,when looking at the promotion of the Kherson attack by Zelenskyy there’s something odd about his statement, “The world must see this.It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees,it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil.”
Obviously, there is not enough information to make any definitive statements about origination, targeting or intent.However, overall, there is a pattern of desperation evident in the position of Ukraine since mid-June (London visit) which could indicate an effort to create circumstances to pull NATO ever closer to joining military activity against Russia directly.

U.S. imports of Middle Eastern crude are set to hit about 600,000 barrels per day in August, the highest since the Iran war began, as a brief opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the rerouting of Saudi oil through the Suez Canal pushed barrels toward American ports, ship-tracking data showed.
Nearly a dozen ships loaded with Middle Eastern crude were headed to U.S. ports as American refiners and traders moved swiftly to snap up barrels that exited the strait when a memorandum of understanding signed by U.S. and Iran in June helped release vessels from the maritime choke point.
Also boosting imports are cargoes from Saudi Arabia's Red Sea port of Yanbu that are traveling through the Suez Canal to the United States. Saudi Arabia has rerouted its crude output to Yanbu via its east-west pipeline to get around Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi militants last month launched a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia, and the risk of attacks at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on the southern end of the Red Sea has forced many tankers to head north and exit the shipping channel via the Suez Canal.
That has increased exports from the region to the United States, as the journey to U.S. ports from the Suez Canal is shorter than the route to Asia. Vessels exiting via the northern route can still sail to Asia, but the voyage would take nearly four weeks longer than typical and raise costs.
"Sending Saudi crude on tankers to the U.S. rather than to Asia may be a preferable option given fleet logistics and the shorter time on the water," said Kpler analyst Matt Smith.

U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell has been discharged from a rehabilitation center more than 50 days after he was first hospitalized.
In an Aug. 6 update from the Kentucky senator's office, McConnell confirmed he was released from the center and would continue to recover at home.

The Trade Deficit Elimination Act would create a congressional framework for imposing duties on countries with trade deficits
Just as the Trump administration has refunded billions in tariffs to companies in the U.S., a push is growing in the Senate to give the president sharper, more focused tariff powers across the globe.
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is leading the charge to give President Donald Trump congressional approval for his tariffs, specifically against countries that have longstanding trade deficits with the U.S. after his universal duties were nixed by the Supreme Court.
"Previous generations of Americans gave us an economic superpower; it’s our job to preserve what they built and to leave America better than we found it for our children and grandchildren," Scott told Fox News Digital in a statement.
"That means we can’t let other countries rip us off."
Scott’s bill, the Trade Deficit Elimination Act, would effectively create a congressional framework that allows Trump to authorize tariffs where there are trade deficits with the nation’s trade partners that are a detriment to America’s national security, foreign policy interests and economic interests.
It would require the creation of an annual watch list for countries with trade deficits that are identified and compiled by U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. That list would deem each country identified as having "trade deficit economies."
From there, Scott’s bill would allow Trump to impose, increase, decrease, suspend or modify tariffs on imports from the listed countries in a bid to eliminate bilateral goods trade deficits.
Trump and Greer would still need to seek consultation from Congress, specifically from the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance committees, but aren’t required to get congressional approval for applying duties to listed countries.
It also exempts certain products considered critical to U.S. supply chains, U.S. supply chains, national security or where alternative sources are unavailable.
"In recent years, our trading partners have taken advantage of access to American markets while unfairly crowding American products out of their own countries," Scott said. "Decline is a choice, and President Trump is taking action to restore American prosperity."
Scott’s announcement of the bill comes just a day after the Trump administration refunded $100 billion in tariff revenue collected during the president’s "liberation day" explosion of duties across the globe.
Trump issued those tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). But the Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that he didn’t have the authority to do so.

The director of African American Affairs at Minnesota State University (MSU), Mankato is no longer employed by the university after a federal jury convicted him of a tax fraud scheme prosecutors said generated approximately $387,000 in fraudulent tax refunds.
Cortez Hollis worked in the university’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) division, where he led the African American Affairs office.
A federal jury found Hollis guilty in June on 20 counts of aiding or assisting in the preparation of false tax returns, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Hollis owned and operated Hollis Tax Time, a Minnesota tax preparation business that prosecutors said he used to prepare false tax returns for clients.
Prosecutors said Hollis told clients he could obtain tax credits other preparers did not know about. Instead, they said he created fictitious businesses and claimed thousands of dollars in business losses clients had never incurred, generating tax refunds they were not entitled to receive.
The Justice Department said Hollis frequently paid himself tax preparation fees of $2,000 or more from those refunds, sometimes without his clients’ knowledge.
At trial, prosecutors established that Hollis added more than $1 million in fraudulent business losses to client tax returns and sought approximately $387,000 in refunds clients were not entitled to receive.
Hollis faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison on each count. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled, according to the DOJ.
