[Terada P X Nasu Kinoko] Why did SRW's producer refuse when Anno said "Put Char in an Evangelion"? The conflict between the source material and games, and what FGO inherited from SRW

http://news.denfaminicogamer.jp/kikakuthetower/170731

The servants of Fate are born from the fun of broadly interpreting throwaway lines in legends

Terada: I like Teito Monogatari, and that too fused real people with original characters, so that you start to really think "The writer Kouda Rohan fought monsters". The same applies to Journey to the West, but if you want to put a real person into fiction, you have to really learn about that person first. With robot anime you can just watch the show and read the information, but with real people, and especially recent people, I think it turns out that a lot of them turn out to be different from what you expect. That's why while I like stuff like Makai Tensei which has real people in fiction, I think it'd be too difficult for me to pull off.

-We'd like to hear about how Fate was made

Nasu: Fate was just a denki novel (literary genre generally with occult stuff that has its root in legends or mythology) turned into a game. 80's denki novels, including Teito Monogatari had a common theme of "this stuff happened behind the scenes in actual history", which meant stories based on real events. This doesn't really apply to denki novels from the 00's and on, but the initial idea for Fate was made just at the end of that age, and is about stuff hidden behind modern society, and the heroic spirits are based on history. It's made to be loved by people interested in mythology and great figures from history. But lately I've been starting to hear questions like "Who is King Arthur?"…

Terada: Really?

Nasu: That's just how much the amount of basic knowledge users have has changed. We were making things based on an outdated format, and just hadn't realised it.

-Is making console and PC games different from making smartphone games?

Nasu: How the users are treated is completely different. With console games, users sit down at a screen with the intention of eating a meal. Meanwhile, smartphones are a part of everyday life, and users want things faster, lighter, more compact. Despite knowing that, FGO goes "that's that and this is this, I'm taking an hour of your time".

(Not part of the interview: Other interviews regarding FGO have had Nasu and other staff talk about how the earlier chapters having short story sequences interrupted by random battles all the time came from how they thought this was how smartphone games are supposed to work; Users absolutely hated this and they changed it so that story sequences are now longer and have less interruptions, and there are entire chapters without battles at all, and "random wyverns attacking" has now become a running joke)

-So you're worried about how modern users think playing video games is too much trouble

Nasu: Games, FGO and SRW included, work on a system in which players use their time and concentration and trial and error to gain success. But in FGO we got messages from users saying "why is this game's system so troublesome?". Smartphone players think that games should have no stress at all. This made me realise how my way of seeing things was too old. Meanwhile, when you play recent SRW titles you can make a lot of progress really fast which is still fun, but I can't help but feel that this is sacrificing the feeling of "forty minutes and the Blood Temple still isn't dead!?". What do you think about this?

Terada: That's true. I think games are supposed to be based upon a cycle of building up and releasing stress, though I don't think this applies to ALL games. If you give the users only stress they say it's repetitive, and I've been told that we should make a mode where you start off with maximum everything, and I do think that smartphone games should have auto-play functions. But SRW is at its base a niche game. 25 years ago I was told "nobody's going to buy such a niche gamPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Terada: FGO's events are really popular, aren't they.

Nasu: We basically do an event every month. Most smartphone games have weekly events, but FGO has large events that serve as the main dish of the month. Everyone is always excited for the first week, and then they return to routine work for the next three. That time's to let them raise their characters to prepare for the next feast.

-There was an event where only players who cleared Part 1 could participate, which was pretty shocking for a smartphone game. (CCC event)

Nasu: Only about 40% of players managed to participate in that. But nothing lasts forever, and I'm satisfied as long as those who managed to play it have it in their memories. Meanwhile those who didn't manage to play it can be excited for next year. We made it so that you had to have cleared Part 1 simply because you can't enjoy the event's greatest gimmick without having done so. It's an answer to players who said the end of Part 1 was great. I'm sorry to say this to new users but events like CCC are made for people who cleared Part 1, as a reward for them.

-Some would say you should let them play it even if they don't get it.

Nasu: It's okay if they don't get a bit of it, but with a long story that's not good at all. Eating something you don't get just makes you feel sick, and it's a waste. I'd rather have them wait a year and let them go "people were eating such a delicious steak last year!". It's like playing SRW without knowing any of the series in it at all, a huge amount is lost for both the players and creators.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/mak-movie-it-producer-adapt-sci-fi-epic-warner-bros-1041130

Roy Lee has teamed with Scott Bernstein to adapt the Japanese property for the big screen.

Fresh from the record-breaking box-office haul of horror-thriller It, producer Roy Lee is now setting his sights on giant robots and two-legged tanks.

Lee has teamed with Scott Bernstein, the Universal executive turned producer, and Warner Bros., which released It, to adapt Ma.K, an epic sci-fi property out of Japan.

Originating in the early 1980s in Hobby Japan magazine, Ma.K was a monthly comic that also tied into customizable model kits. It was created by artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama, who worked with the magazine's editors to create an expansive universe inspired by Star Wars, Blade Runner and World Wars I and II. The combination of manga and models took off, gaining a worldwide cult following over time.

The story is set far, far into the future after a nuclear war caused survivors to flee Earth. When the planet is habitable once again, new colonies are set up, but it's not long before a battle over resources begins. When one side wants to make Earth independent, a new revolutionary war begins, this time with mechanized armor and robots.

"Kow is a world creator in the truest sense, and this project finally gives Ma.K a global audience who will experience this epic and rich sci-fi property as fans have for the last 35 years," says Kevin Munroe (TMNT), who will executive produce with Yokoyama, Rick Privman and Yumiko Miyano.

Hey /m/ I've followed https://imgur.com/m1mrtjX to watch the entire Gundam series up to Turn-A so far. Right now I'm wondering where to go next I've know that chronologically speaking I've got SEED coming up next but I genuinely don't know if I'll be able considering how bad it apparently is. Ditto for AGE which is supposedly absolute dogshit, could I reasonably just skip to 00 and Unicorn as opposed to watching SEED/Destiny/AGE?

Be warned I'm very drunk right now

You don't need to watch any Gundam series.

You'll get the gist of the universe from each series.

SEED isn't awful, it just strives for mediocrity. It has excellent music, some solid mobile suit designs and Yzak and Dearka are a cool enough pair that they should have been the main characters. But the broad strokes of it are just a copy of 0079 without enough care to make the average soldiers on both sides human.

They turned the series into three movies, but the pacing is absolutely awful, so if you're going to give it a try, you'll have to watch the full series, and I'd recommend the original version at that rather than the HD remaster because cropping the video down to 16:9 is fucking dumb.

But at least Destiny's four movie version is actually a well-paced improvement. Still not a great story, but it's not a disaster like SEED's movie trilogy.

But yes, if you want to skip over one thing to get to another, just do it. Between SEED, 00, AGE and Build Fighters, it's not like you've got many good choices left. At least Unicorn is relevant to what you've already watched.

Have you considered taking a break from Gundam to watch something like Macross, Patlabor, L Gaim or Xabungle?

00 would have been alright but the Movie they followed it up with was terribad. 00's first season is pretty decent because they have some fresh ideas, but it gets boring in season 2 and they start using bad plot devices

>spend a small arc trying to destroy a superweapon

>find out there's a second copy, destroy it in one episode

I'd say watch Origin, it's good lore building. Macross and Patlabor are also on the table.

For Patlabor I'd watch the early days OVA first (it's pretty short) for an intro to the world, and beyond that you can watch the rest of the series/movies in any order since they're not lore intensive

hey anons. i used to watch anime as a little kid and there was one that stole my heart from the first episode. for some reason, they only aired the first episode. i can't remember its name. i was hoping someone here would recognize it from my memory.

here's what i remember: the anime was from the 80s or 90s. it was about an intergalactic war between humans (earth vs something). both sides used gigantic robots. the pilots were teens (16-20 year olds). the main character, was a fantastic pilot. at one fight he got critically injured and suffered a memory loss due to the injury. he was captured by his enemies and they made him fight his people. last thing i remember was him being sent off after getting treatment to fight and he BTFO'd his former friends. they thought of him as a traitor after the fight. that's all i can remember. please help.

Good evening /m/, I am the Board Owner of >>>/bmn/ and run the weekly Bad Movie Night stream a few of you may have heard about. The purpose of this thread is to serve as an invitation to any and all anons of this board to join in our 1 year anniversary celebration stream.

I hope you will join us Saturday night for a celebration of the best I have to offer. The night will be more than double stuffed compared to normal nights, with 7 movies instead of 3, all from the glory pile. The show list includes: Dracula 3000, Alien vs Ninja, Vampiyaz, Bug Buster, Robot Wars, Evolver, and 90210 Shark Attack. The first 6 earned their places for relative bits of quality, entertainment value or even fun, while 90210 Shark attack earned its spot by dumbfounding everyone with how awful it was. In particular, I think you all might enjoy our robot movie block.

I hope you will join us for this occasion, both to join us in shitposting about bad movies with other anons, and to enjoy a small project I have been working on for this occasion. Information about the anniversary stream can be found on >>>/bmn/49 or in pic related.

Alright, Kissasian is dead to me. Finally bypassed it's anti-adblock only for it to fail me yet again. Kissasian was the only reliable site I found with a wide array of toku. With the death of nyaa, many translated batches were lost so downloading isn't much of an option. Jatoku meanwhile has most of it's videos removed or just plain not working because the site with them won't let you access them.

So basically, I'm looking for alternatives to streaming toku online. Downloading is fine too if you can find older torrents that are still around. But it'll most likely take a while compared to just watching this stuff online.

Fansub cartel shit. You should be looking for https://nyaa.pantsu.cat instead.

However anidex.info is slowly getting stuff reuploaded (old Dairanger subs are there for example), OZC-Live has all the post-Decade riders in BD format and a few sentai, both in torrent and DDL format.

There's also the OneDrive for most KR stuff: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!AAPGepundKRGEvs&id=A5B3A6F1DD3A3CA6!162969&cid=A5B3A6F1DD3A3CA6

Also a Garo OneDrive sadly I'm unable to find if there's a Sentai/Metal Hero one: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!APlu8z_Z1WfLcc0&id=A5B3A6F1DD3A3CA6!306992&cid=A5B3A6F1DD3A3CA6

Diaz and his band of retards that are adamant on controlling all fansubbing, and resorting to slandering other torrent sites to sway fansub groups to one that they control. They claimed that nyaa.pantsu was "evil racists" in order to get horriblesubs to upload their stuff directly to .si instead because they have control over .si.

I remember there was some hubbub surrounding him and how he basically forced everyone to use Hi10p rather than Hi8p or something? There's 8-bit colour and there's 10-bit colour. I remember Diaz using the new 10-bit standard, thereby forcing everyone to update. I remember some drama surrounding this and this was back in 2013 perhaps? I don't know anything about his recent antics however. Even if Diaz were to monopolise all fansubbing, what's the worst that can happen? What can he possibly do once he's fulfilled his evil master plan and has a monopoly over all fansubs?

I can see one scenario: Diaz is actually hired by a corporation ("Diaz" might not even be an actual individual) and once fansubs are monopolised, he forces subbers to produce faulty, crappy subs meaning only CrunchyRoll and whatever other public anime businesses have quality subs.

Re-reading my post, I think I came off as a kind of Diaz-fanboy. The general gist of my post was actually "why fight against Diaz?" when, I feel it should be "why allow him to get away with it?". It does actually seem abnormal that he's trying to monopolise what's supposed to be something free.

But nonetheless, it is just fansubbing so I'm still curious, what on Earth could his diabolical plan be? In any case, whilst monopolisation has the advantage of standardisation, it may be best to avoid a monopoly anyway in fear of that power being abused. A monopoly is what needs to be justified. It feels weak that the only reason to go against him is his attempt to monopolise something free but I guess it is best to avoid monopolisation. The centralisation of power in the fansub community may come to hurt us in time. Especially with the 2020 Olympics approaching and the globalist international media is forced to bring positive attention to a country that has rejected leftist progressivism in favour of retaining their cultural identity and pride as a people. Centralisation creates a system that can be abused by anyone in ways currently unknown.

I'm sorry. Diaz must be stopped. There's no way to know what might happen.

Looks like the same shitty translations except run through unprofessional American editors who gave it a "localisation", which would make it even worse than MD because it's even more fucked up, yet it's made less obvious.

This sort of thing is really common.

"What an incorrigible mashed chestnut fellow" is obvious nonsense and you can easily identify it as such. The solution they use it to run it through incompetent American editors who turn it into tumbr memespeak or some other stupid like line "what a Gundam weaboo". Bam, even though it's just as or possibly even more inaccurate than the nonsense version, people consider it to be legit and treat it as such.

It's amazing how bad American translators are.

There's a group of people who often work with Nintendo who have translators who admit to not being fluent in Japanese.

"Char Was Supposed To Appear in ZZ"

"The project for Gundam ZZ was started as a direct continuation of Z Gundam, and the story first thought of could be said to be the exact opposite of what was ultimately aired."

"To the left is the initial proposal, and as you can see there are large differences, such as with Emma Sheen who died at the end of Z Gundam had survived and was instead going to die here. But the biggest difference was that Char was going to appear. He was going to switch sides to Haman Karn, and attack the Argama that he was a member of just a while ago. "

"The story in this proposal is a lot darker than what was broadcast"

"Though (Char) is an enemy of the protagonists, in the end he kills Hamaan. But ultimately he cannot come as close to awakening as a newtype as Judau. He is a lonely man who cannot become a newtype."

"The Mineva Zabi appearing in this proposal is very much the real one."

"Many people who watched (Mobile Suit) Gundam and Z Gundam wondered if this little girl would one day influence the world of Gundam someday. An orphan of the Zabi family, though she was a little girl who only existed to be used by Hamaan when she reappeared, something about her gave out a premonition of the ideal newtype. Here, she comes to Earth. It is not an overstatement to say that this is representative of the spiritual fusion of space immigrants and those who stayed on Earth.

"There is not much of a difference in the personality of the Judau in this proPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

does this address something like "Zeta Gundam☆Char of Counterattack"?

a thousand years ago on a laptop that was stolen I had a pic I got off futaba or one of the moonchans of what appeared to be a photo of a scenario book for something somehow connecting Zeta and CCA, I assume an early title for Zeta
