Get 3 part time jobs to work 12 hour days, for 12$ an hour,

In five days you should have around 700$?,

You pay that to them, and keep working until you've paid off all 5000$ +any interest they tack on for being late.

And go to confession. You might die soon.

>i have listened to the audiobook up until the MVP (minimum viable product) part..

how far into the book are we talking here? MVPs are brought up early and are explained pretty thoroughly. but it has been a long time since I read it myself and other people have added a lot to the core ideas.

>but what if I am copying other business? do I still need to do a MVP?

absolutely, any idea you come up with will always *feel* like it makes perfect sense, but only because your the one that came up with it. it's a common cognitive bias to over value things close to your ego. you have to test your ideas so you can separate your feelings from reality. you want to avoid the situation where you're working months on something people were never interested in.

besides, you should be able to put together and test an MVP in literally hours. why avoid a relatively small about of time to ensure your success?

>eehhh not like this (0v0 ) hehe

just write it like you explaining the ideas to your friends. though they should just read it for themselves.

>almost like old Yikyak (before they crashed and burned after the new update)

Yik Yak was burning way before that last update, they only made those changes as a desperate attempt to save a sinking ship. they are a good case study you should research, along with the dozens of other failed social media platforms. I'd be interested if you actually have a novel solution to the myriad of problems they faced.

>Doing so would raise wages across the board, lower the cost of housing, and lower worker compliance since the labor market would be shifted heavily in the favor of workers. Employers would be forced to train their workers themselves again.

this is all shit that happens *because* there's a labor shortage.

>There is no labor shortage or skills gap, it is all corporate propaganda to keep the visa workers and immigration flood gates open.

so you're saying that the labor shortage is a lie, but we should make it real?

>so you're saying that the labor shortage is a lie, but we should make it real?

Yes, so wages can have some real growth, housing can go down, to encourage companies to start training again, and so workers don't have to be so compliant. I do not care about companies having maximum profit.

Landscaping might have some problems without visa workers, but the only people that benefit from landscaping businesses are the owners themselves, visa workers subsidize them. There are plenty of goods and services that are not made anymore because it is not economically viable, should all of those be subsidized too? Door to door milk delivery in glass probably isn't profitable anymore even if the employees were all paid minimum wage. Some company, I can't remember which exactly, stopped producing high end Blu-ray players, should whatever country that company is in subsidize them so they can keep making them? The only reason landscaping might be a problem is because in the US you can be fined for not mowing your lawn which can be easily fixed by making it so you can't be fined for not having your lawn mowed.

Automation is supposed to remove tens of millions of jobs from market in a few years, self driving cars alone are supposed to remove millions. Whatever jobs are left will pay less, even programmers and engineers. Every extra person you take in now is going to make the damage done that much worse.

Higher wages would probably make automation happen faster, but it is going to happen anyway. Fast food jobs where I live pay a dollar or so above the state minimum wage, but after the 2008 crash when they were only minimum wage, self serving kiosks were being made anyways. Minimum wage could be half of what it is now and they would still automate as much as possible. Some study in the UK found officie workers were only productive 2 something hours out of their 8 hour shift. Many manufacturing positions can already be eliminated right now through improving the process, using different materials, or with automation.

As someone who cares about workers having as high of a standard of living as possible, I do not want all positions to be filled, in fact I want even more positions to bPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

for someone who believes that automation will destroy jobs, you've come to a very strange conclusion. you're talking like jobs are the only relevant resource and people need to be reduced to match the supply.

the debate around how automation will affect the job market has mostly been either "new jobs will be created like with the industrial revolution, business as usual" or "everything will be so cheap that society will change it's relationship with work and push UBI or some other scheme". I haven't heard much of this worst of both worlds where everything is done by robots so we have to hunker down and ration out our limited respectable places in society.

Is scamming idiots online considered /biz/? I have a little story. This one guy was asking on an adult chatroom for a hooker. I asked him what's up because I'm wondering why he wants a hooker so bad and he says he wants a girl to go on a business trip with him for a month. I give him a fake name, use fake pics, and all while using a username I've never used anywhere else. On top of that I use a vpn so I'm almost certain that he could never trace this all back to me. I tell this guy I'm a girl and that I'd do it for $5k half when the deal is made and half when the trip is over. He said he'd drive to where I live IRL (I gave him a city in another state) and meet with my "friend" (see: me) so "he" could check to see if the guy is safe. Upon confirmation, he'd hand my "friend" an envelope with half the money and then "I" would come out to meet him an hour later.

At this point: I started to wonder if this was a good idea and I started to wonder if I was morally ok with it. (I'm a fag, I know). I canceled the deal and said I was sorry but I wasn't comfortable with the plan. That said, it made me realize that people on adult dating sites are stupid, desperate, and have money to throw around on stupid shit. It would be extremely easy to convince some of these idiots to part with large sums of money and probably get away with it. Especially if they send you illegal content that could come back and bite them.

d8a32a No.1628 [Open Thread]

New cryptocurrency that appeared on public exchange 1 week ago.

Very shortly it approached 8th in market cap. As a recent coin, it should also be investigated, more so than not.

Features

>No transaction fees

This means the atomic unit of IOTA is transferable. Contrasts with the feasibility of transferring one satoshi.

>No mining

There is no userbase divide between miner and layman. Instead, for a transaction to confirm, it must confirm two other transactions (thus the proof of work is done on the issuer's computer). Additionally, with this scheme, a usual network spam attempt instead confirms more transactions.

>Fixed supply

2.7 * 10^15 atomic units (where as Bitcoin has 2.1 * 10^15 satoshi).

An atomic unit is 1 iota, an integer value as opposed to a decimal, and a trading unit is Miota (10^6), hence some confusion regarding supply and price.

>Quantum resistant cryptography

Causes for Concern

>Distribution

All IOTA in circulation were created in a genesis transaction by the developers and distributed through an ICO in November to December 2015. This means potentially there are large holders that can control the market.

>Targeting IoT

Internet of Things, being internet integration with mundane appliances such as toasters, microwaves and cars, has been criticized as extending surveillance. The developers seek in some way to cater to that sector.

>Beta/undeveloped

First, I think the developer's claim should be verified. If there was a genesis transaction in the very beginning that minted all current iota in supply- it should be confirmed whether or not the developers or any entity would have the capability to mint new iota after. From then on, Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

This Winston guy definitely works at Iota despite denying partway through. And apparently they don't actually have an actual partnership with Microsoft. I think a scam is coming to light.

I've had the thought.

So if a lot of the early buyers do get their funds back, can we expect them to dump the price down? They, or at least a lot of them (~10% of supply), essentially have been prevented from selling during the bull run to $5 (don't remember the sat price, but they would've profited there as well).

I can expect many are not happy with the situation and IOTA Foundation.

As reported here

The crytocurrency exchange Bitfinex is often accused of artificially inflating the price of bitcoin with USDT, a blockchain asset made to represent the U.S Dollar. Recently that the company issuing Tether has a balance of 30 million dollars.

What do you think is the future of cryptocurrency, bitcoin and alts alike should Bitfinex be found guilty of fraud?

Since there are many alts, we can consider the following categories

>Alts with only BTC market

>Alts with ETH, LTC or other crytocurrency only markets

>Alts with non-tether fiat markets e.g GBP, EUR

I'm just fine, but maybe right now is the dead cat bounce.

What I really want from bitcoin is just an online way to spend money pseudonymously (without credit card or Paypal). The ones I have are from faucets years ago, so I'm not wholly concerned about blockchain investigation and whatever to track identities.

I'm thinking about growing wood, so I figured out I'll post it here.

So I've got this small piece of land (20+ha) where I currently grow nothing, just cut grass and get some sweet EU money. It's nice, but it'll end soon, so I'm thinking how can I use this plot of land, and I found this chinese superhero, Pawlounia tree which seems suspiciously profitable, so I told myself that I'll share what I know with you.

It grows super fast, you should be able to get 1m^3 from one tree in just 8 years, and after you cut it down tree will regrow back, even a little faster. Wood is not very dense, but still dense enough to use for pretty much anything. As I said, it's not a tree, it's chinese superhero.

let's do some basic math…

One tree requires about 4x5m^2 = 20 m^2. 1 ha = 10.000m^2 => 1 ha = 500 trees.

Solid boards sells at about 250€/m^3, but I'm no farmer, I have no contacts, let's use 100€/m^3 as best case scenario, and 20€/m^3 (firewood) as worst case scenario

By this logic, 1 ha should produce something between 500*20€ and 500*100€, or 10.000€ and 50.000€ every 8 years. 500 trees cost about 3750€, so profit, without calculation price of tech and fuel, is something between 6.250€ and 46.250€, or something between 780€ and 5780€ per annum. This looks fucking insanely good, I believe there must be some hidden things I do not see right now.

I do not own tractor, so planting more than 1 ha is impossible.

What do you think about it? Do you think I have forgot about something? Do you have any suggestions?

I personally want to buy 10 trees this spring and plant them so I'll make sure that they won't reject my land, find out if deers find them tasty and so on.

If you dont have native sugar maples in your area there is no way you are gonna get any returns for 1/2 a century or more. Not to mention that the syryp racket is jewed up to the extreme.

>Birches also make syryp but to worst ratio of sap to syryp, but they grow about a bijillion times easiest, and its still a bad idea.

Campsite would not be terrible depending on where and what you got for land there. Farm would also not be terrible but the idea of getting something for nothing is just not going to happen.

Arboriculturist here. Think I can help and give you some advice and confidence OP. Your plan is similar to mine, once I've obtained some land.

>Solid boards sells at about 250€/m^3, but I'm no farmer, I have no contacts, let's use 100€/m^3 as best case scenario, and 20€/m^3 (firewood) as worst case scenario

Firstly don't forget you'd have 8 years to make contacts while they grow. I don't know if those figures are for generic "timber" or this specific wood, but I think you could expect to sell it for near or full market value, especially if you export it to Japan.

>500 trees cost about 3750€

>I do not own tractor, so planting more than 1 ha is impossible.

Grow them from seed. Plant 2-3 seeds per tree you want and thin them out once they've germinated. Seed-grown trees are much more adapted to their environment than imported standards, therefore they grow faster (often overtaking immigrant trees within 5 years) and are less susceptible to local bad weather, diseases and pests (expect to lose 2-5% of your crop to these). Seeds are also about 1000x cheaper to do and you could plant all 20 hectares yourself by hand over a few weeks. The standard trees you would otherwise buy are probably no more than 1-2 years old at most, these things grow at 7 feet per year.

>calculation price of tech and fuel

I don't think you would need any tech or fuel before actually cropping them, aside from deer fencing. Your young trees will be a magnet for rabbits and deer, you need to fence them out and shoot the ones that will inevitably get through. DO NOT use chemical fertilisers or fungicide/pesticides. You will kill your mycorrhizzal fungi network and soil food web.

On that note, other advice I can give you:

>Mix planting, cultivate healthy soil food web
