Fed’s Preferred Inflation Measure Comes in Much Lower Than Expected

The Fed’s preferred measure of inflation rose by much less than expected in August, data from the Commerce Department showed Wednesday.
The personal consumption expenditures price index climbed 3.4 percent over the past 12 months through August. Economists had forecast a 3.7 percent increase.
For the month, the PCE price index rose 0.3 percent, below the 0.4 percent increase forecast.
The prior month’s inflation data was revised down. July’s PCE index now shows a 0.1 percent monthly increase, down from 0.2 percent. The annual increase was revised down to 3.4 percent from 3.7 percent.
Excluding food and energy, so-called core PCE prices rose by 0.2 percent for the month and three percent year-over-year. The consensus forecast was for a 0.3 percent increase for the month and 3.3 percent for the year.
Goods prices rose 0.3 percent in August compared with July. Services also rose by 0.3 percent.

🚨Yesterday we were talking about the end of America's war in Iraq.
Last year Argentina opened its files on the Nazis who escaped Europe after World War II. The U.S. Senate is still fighting a Swiss bank over what those files point to.
At first glance those stories have nothing to do with each other.
That's exactly why I find them interesting.
For twenty-five years I've asked the same question:
Why did we REALLY go to Iraq?
Afghanistan made sense after 9/11.
Iraq was always harder.
Maybe part of the problem was how we were taught to look at war.
We looked at countries.
Afghanistan. Iraq. Syria. Libya. Iran. Argentina. Switzerland.
Separate countries. Separate stories. Separate decades.
Intelligence people don't see the world that way.
They see networks.
Money. Banks. Front companies. Weapons. Oil. Documents. Smuggling corridors. Officials. Intelligence services. Political protection. Safe havens.
And one node leads to the next.
Look at what the Nazi files and the Senate investigation are showing us.
After World War II, Argentina ran an escape operation out of Bern, Switzerland.
The office sat in a building owned by Credit Suisse.
Credit Suisse banked for people tied to that network.
Argentina wired Swiss francs into Europe to fund it.
Documents were obtained.
People moved.
They landed in Argentina and were absorbed into its businesses and industry.
Follow the person.
Follow the account.
Follow the company.
Follow the facilitator.
Follow the route.
Sound familiar?
That doesn't prove Iraq was invaded because of some hidden global financial operation.
But it changes the question I want to ask.
Maybe the hunters weren't asking "Which country is the enemy?"
Maybe they were asking "WHO IS CONNECTED TO WHOM?"
That's the lesson McChrystal and Flynn built in Iraq.
You don't defeat a network by taking a capital city.
You map it.
FIND → FIX → FINISH → EXPLOIT → ANALYZE → DISSEMINATE.
Then do it again on the next node.
It takes a network to defeat a network.

Never-Trump RINO Adam Kinzinger Bet on His Own Biden Pardon — CFTC and Kalshi Now Probing the Sham J6 Committee Star

Former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, the Never-Trump Republican who helped lead the partisan January 6 committee, is under a federal review after placing bets on prediction-market contracts tied to the preemptive pardon he later received from Joe Biden.
According to Politico, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is examining trades a Kalshi account linked to Kinzinger made in December 2024 and January 2025. Kalshi is conducting its own review of the same activity.
Three people familiar with the matter told Politico the probe covers contracts on whether Kinzinger himself would receive a presidential pardon and whether Biden would issue preemptive pardons before leaving office.
Kinzinger, who left Congress in 2023, was a private citizen when he placed the bets. In Biden’s final hours in January 2025, the then-president issued a preemptive pardon covering Kinzinger and other members of the House select committee that investigated January 6, the same panel The Gateway Pundit has repeatedly documented for its one-sided hearings and treatment of Trump supporters.
CNN reported that Kinzinger traded less than $1,000 on the two pardon-related markets. Screenshots he shared show he wagered a total of $669 and netted $823.
He told CNN he also placed roughly two dozen other political bets around the same time and mostly lost money.
Kinzinger denied insider trading. “It was a dumb bet, to bet on myself,” he told CNN. “Looking back, I’m like, yeah, I wish I’d have skipped it. But everything I saw at the time was like, you’re within your right to bet on this.”
He insisted he had no advance knowledge: “At no point, ever, had I had a conversation with anybody in the know about pardons (or) whether I’d get pardoned. Certainly, nobody in the White House or anybody that would know anything.”
He told Politico he had read Kalshi’s rules and believed they only barred users who worked for the relevant agency, could influence the outcome, or held non-public information. Kalshi’s rules also bar users from betting on contracts in which they are direct participants.
CNN reported that Kalshi flagged the trades during a broader look at suspicious activity, referred them to the CFTC, and tried to reach Kinzinger. He said neither the agency nor the platform has contacted him.
Months after Kinzinger made his pardon bets, he became a public critic of political prediction markets.
According to reporting on the investigation, Kinzinger wrote in November 2025 that platforms such as Kalshi represented a “corruption time bomb,” warning that government officials and political insiders could potentially profit from privileged information.
Kinzinger argues there is no contradiction because he says he had no privileged information when he made his own trades.

Gavin Newsom Takes the Bait, Signs Order Declaring California Agencies Use the Term ‘Artificial Intelligence’
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order requiring state agencies to continue using the term “Artificial Intelligence.
The announcement comes after President Donald Trump ordered the federal government to begin referring to the technology as “Super Intelligence.”
“I just signed an executive order permanently declaring Artificial Intelligence ‘Artificial Intelligence’ in California,” Newsom wrote on X.
“You’re welcome, America,” he added.
The order directs all California agencies and departments under Newsom’s authority to refer to the technology as “Artificial Intelligence,” “AI,” or “Artificial Intelligence (AI),” regardless of different terminology adopted by the federal government.
Newsom’s office also took a swipe at Trump while announcing the order.
“Super intelligence is clearly not coming from the White House — that’s why California continues to lead,” Newsom said.
The move comes after Trump signed his own executive order on Monday declaring the beginning of what his administration calls the “Era of Super Intelligence.”
Trump’s order directs federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications and other non-statutory documents.
“The extraordinary technologies being pioneered by American innovators far exceed what was envisioned when the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ first came into use,” Trump’s order states.
“As these capabilities continue to improve, they increasingly represent not merely artificial intelligence, but a new era of Super Intelligence.”
The White House says that the new terminology better reflects the capabilities and potential of rapidly developing AI system.
They argue the term “Super Intelligence” conveys technology that can “unlock new forms of human creativity” rather than merely imitate human intelligence.
Newsom also used Wednesday’s announcement to promote a series of new California AI regulations covering employment, workplace surveillance, deepfakes and other uses of the technology.
“AI should expand opportunity — not come at the expense of workers and families,” Newsom said.
“As this technology reshapes the workplace, California is putting people at the center, ensuring we all have a voice in the decisions shaping their future.”
The Democratic governor also criticized the Trump broader approach to AI regulation by stating there was remains an “absence of federal leadership.”
Trump’s order, meanwhile, applies only to the federal executive branch and does not require states or private companies to adopt the “Super Intelligence” terminology.

Rioters have unleashed chaos in major cities across the country after what started as largely peaceful demonstrations against the state of education descended into violent chaos.

In Marseille, staff at the Victor Hugo High School were splashed with petrol as the school was targeted in an arson attempt. All members of staff were forced to take refuge inside the building for their safety.
In Nantes, the entrance hall of Nelson Mandela High School was destroyed by a fire this morning.
The school's deputy head Gaelle Cordier said this was an act of 'arson'.
Footage from the school showed all storeys of the entrance hall alight, as people stood around and watched.
Another clip, captured from further away, showed smoke rising out of the building.
Elsewhere in Marseille, a firefighter was injured after rioters set a fire engine alight near the Saint-Exupéry high school this morning.
A video of the incident showed black-clad young men battering the emergency vehicle with metal objects, before cheering as a fire quickly began consuming it.
The mayor of the city, Benoit Payan, today called for calm.
He wrote on social media: 'Our youth is legitimately concerned about its future and that of the public service. It must be able to express itself in a calm framework.
'Today, our city is the scene of unacceptable violence, fires, and assaults suffered by teachers, firefighters, journalists and Marseillais, which no cause can justify.
'I call for calm from each and every one, and for finding the path to a democratic expression of grievances.
'Marseille stands alongside those who defend the public service and the future of our youth, not alongside those who destroy, set fires and commit violence.'
Speaking in Madrid yesterday, President Emmanuel Macron slammed hard-Left politicians he accused of 'legitimising violence' in the French school protests.
Mr Macron has since called a crisis meeting in Paris to deal with the spiralling unrest. French media reported that all ministerial trips have been cancelled until the beginning of next week, in light of the heightened security situation.

Education minister Edouard Geffray today called for classes to be held remotely at schools where blockades are taking place.

Hard-right politician Marine Le Pen has now weighed in on the matter.
She wrote on social media: 'Marseille, Lyon, Grenoble, Besançon, Nîmes, Strasbourg: everywhere in France, the situation is deteriorating. Teachers are being attacked, street furniture is being set on fire, buses are being pelted with stones.
'By personally showing up in front of high schools to harangue the youth, by calling on his supporters to rise up in insurrection, by sending his deputies to the school grounds, Jean-Luc Mélenchon bears heavy responsibility for the situation our country is facing today.
'Order must be restored and access to high schools ensured. The safety of students and teachers must be guaranteed. Nothing can justify these outrages, committed for several days now and only intensifying, being allowed to continue.'
In Pas-de-Calais, the headteacher of the Fernand Degrugillier vocational high school in Auchel was injured by a 'mortar' firework this morning.

In yet another unhinged attack on President Donald J. Trump, an activist federal appeals panel on Tuesday sided with a lower court judge who claimed that President Trump “colluded” with his own Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in bringing and subsequently dismissing a major damages lawsuit over the illegal leaking of his tax records.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit denied a motion filed by President Trump, his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the Trump Organization, and their attorneys seeking a stay of post-judgment sanction proceedings pending appeal.
As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, President Trump originally filed suit in January 2026 seeking $10 billion in damages against the IRS and the Department of the Treasury after rogue IRS operatives illegally accessed and leaked private Trump family tax documents to the mainstream media.
They alleged a former IRS contractor illegally accessed and disclosed their confidential tax returns, in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 6103 and § 7431 and the Privacy Act. They sought at least $10 billion.
That contractor was Charles Littlejohn. He stole and leaked Trump’s returns to the New York Times and ProPublica. He was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison.
As The Gateway Pundit reported in May, Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization did not pocket a personal payout. The May settlement, announced by the Department of Justice, created a $1.776 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund, drawn from the federal Judgment Fund, to compensate Americans targeted by prior government lawfare. Unused money reverts to the Treasury. Future tax returns remain subject to ordinary IRS examination.
The corporate media still calls it a slush fund. Democrat governors tried to tax the payouts at 100 percent. The Gateway Pundit reported that California Governor Gavin Newsom vowed to confiscate every dime paid to California residents and dismissed the fund as a “slush fund.”
Then the former judges showed up
After Trump’s lawyers filed a notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice under Rule 41, the case closed the same day. Then 35 former federal judges moved to set the dismissal aside. They told Williams the settlement was “a product of collusion and [wa]s itself a fraud on the [c]ourt.”
The Gateway Pundit reported that U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams in the Southern District of Florida, the Obama appointee, launched the inquiry. She later concluded the lack of adversity was “so obvious and so insurmountable” that the suit was filed for the improper purpose of legitimating “a ‘settlement’ that had no viable basis in law or fact.”
The Department of Justice has rejected that. As quoted by the Financial Times after the July order: “There was no collusion in this case, and the partisan judge who speculated otherwise has disregarded decades of precedent. This case was brought by President Trump in his personal capacity, as well as by several members of his family, who were all victims of admitted violations of law.”

On Tuesday, the three-judge panel denied an emergency request by Trump, his attorneys, and other appellants seeking to stay portions of U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams’ sanctions order while their appeal moves forward.
According to The Hill, the ruling backed Williams’ earlier determination that Trump’s lawsuit and the subsequent agreement involving his administration were collusive. Reuters similarly reported that the Eleventh Circuit refused to pause the sanctions.
But there is an important distinction: Tuesday’s ruling was not a final decision affirming Williams’ collusion finding on the merits.
The appellate panel was considering whether the sanctions should be suspended while the larger appeal continues. The court specifically noted that its decision as a stay panel does not bind the judges who will ultimately decide the merits of the appeal.
Still, the panel concluded that Trump and the other appellants failed, at this stage, to make the strong showing required to demonstrate that Williams clearly erred when she found collusion and bad faith.
The appeals court wrote that Trump’s side “did not submit or offer any evidence” explaining the litigation conduct or demonstrating that the lawsuit and settlement were not collusive.

Trump DOJ Opens Investigation Into Texas Democrat PAC After Operative Caught on Tape Bragging About a “Roundabout” Way of “Paying People” for Votes
The Justice Department has opened an investigation into Texas Majority PAC after a viral undercover video showed a since-fired organizing manager spelling out what he called a “roundabout way of paying people for their votes” ahead of the midterms.
A source familiar confirmed the probe on Wednesday. The investigation was first reported by Fox News Digital, which said two sources familiar with the matter confirmed the department is looking at the Democrat operation that dumps millions into flipping Texas blue.
The footage that forced the feds’ hand was released by Townhall on September 16. Sky McAdams, then an organizing manager for Texas Majority PAC, sat down with an undercover journalist and walked through the loophole he said the group uses to skirt federal election law while boosting Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico.
“We are paying people $25 to attend a one-hour Zoom class to learn why voting is important and why the Republicans are causing all of these bad things,” McAdams said on the tape. “So it’s like a roundabout way of paying people for their votes, essentially.”
He did not stop there. McAdams told the undercover reporter you cannot hand someone cash and say, “Here’s $25, go vote for me.” What you can do, he said, is pay them to sit through a class. “And then the class just talks about the importance of… It’s a little gray.”
He named the program. “It’s called the Paid Relational Program.” He added that he thought “Rally Texas” was the official name. Then he said the quiet part out loud: “If I was a Republican, I would be pissed. I would be like, that’s shady as f**k.”
The Gateway Pundit reported the tape the day it dropped. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican Talarico is trying to beat, did not mince words.
“Absolutely outrageous! James Talarico’s team just admitted they are trying to bribe people for votes. Texans aren’t for sale, no matter how much James Talarico thinks they are.”
Paying someone to vote, or to vote for a candidate, is a federal crime. The workaround McAdams described is the whole point of the investigation: dress the payment up as a “class,” then point the newly motivated voter at the Democrat on the ballot.
The PAC moved fast to contain the damage. The next day it fired McAdams and told reporters he had “mischaracterized” the program. A spokesman said participants “are being paid for grassroots organizing work,” that the description from the “rogue employee” was “factually incorrect,” and that he was “immediately fired.”
That defense has a problem. PAC spokesman Eddie Vale later told Fox News Digital the video is real and has not been digitally altered or deceptively edited. They can call him rogue. They cannot call the tape fake.
The money trail is not a rumor. In a July campaign finance report, Texas Majority PAC paid the firm Relentless $500,000 for a “relational organizing program” — about a fifth of its spending to that point, Townhall reported.
At $25 a head, that sum covers roughly 20,000 payments. Relentless says its paid relational programs “recruit low-propensity voters and compensate them for their time as they reach, persuade, and mobilize their friends and family to vote.”
Similar drives in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania in 2024 were credited by the firm with tens of thousands of Democrat votes.
According to Transparency USA figures cited by Fox News, Texas Majority PAC had raised nearly $10 million in the 2026 cycle by the end of the second quarter, spent nearly $9 million, and still held more than $1.3 million in cash.
The group was founded by Texas campaign veterans Jason Lee, Katherine Fischer, and Crystal Zermeño. Its stated mission is to turn Texas permanently blue.
Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) did not wait for the PAC’s spin. On September 18 he wrote Attorney General Todd Blanche and demanded a federal investigation, Townhall reported.
“Americans deserve to participate in elections that are free of illegal immigrant voting, foreign adversary financing, and especially shady political organizations that seek to purchase the votes of Americans,” Fallon wrote.
Two weeks later, sources told Fox News Digital the Justice Department is doing exactly that.

October Night Sky 2026: 7 Rare Celestial Events To See This Month

Several events can be viewed without special equipment, while binoculars or telescopes can reveal planets, star clusters and other details.
October 2026 is bringing a packed lineup of skywatching events, with Saturn reaching its brightest point of the year on Oct. 4, the Moon meeting Mars the following morning, two major meteor showers, a chance to see the Milky Way's bright center, Mercury's best evening appearance, and a rare Moon-Pleiades encounter later in the month. The best part is that several of these events can be seen without expensive equipment.
Some planets and the Moon are visible with the naked eye, while binoculars or a small telescope can reveal more detail. Dark locations away from city lights will provide the clearest views of the fainter objects and meteors.
Saturn reaches its brightest point on Oct. 4
Saturn will be the month's biggest planetary attraction when it reaches opposition on Oct. 4. At opposition, Earth sits directly between Saturn and the Sun, making the planet appear especially bright and allowing it to remain visible throughout the night.
According to Astronomy, Saturn will be about 780 million miles from Earth at opposition and will shine at magnitude 0.3. It will rise around 7 p.m. local time in early October and reach its highest point around midnight.
The planet can be spotted without a telescope, but a telescope will reveal its rings. Saturn's largest moon, Titan, will also be an easy target for telescope users during several nights in October.
Moon and Mars meet before sunrise on Oct. 5
Early risers should look toward the eastern sky on Oct. 5 for a crescent Moon near reddish Mars.
The Moon will also pass across the northern edge of the Beehive Cluster, a group of roughly 1,000 stars. Mars will sit about 3.4 degrees west of the cluster.
The sight becomes even more interesting on Oct. 11, when Mars will appear near the center of the Beehive Cluster. Astronomy says the movement of Mars against the background stars can become noticeable within about 10 minutes.

Draconid meteors peak on Oct. 8-9
The Draconid meteor shower reaches its peak overnight from Oct. 8 to 9.
This year's timing is favorable because the Moon will be only a thin crescent, reducing the amount of moonlight washing out faint meteors.
The shower is not known for producing huge numbers of meteors, but it can still provide a good show shortly after nightfall. Travel + Leisure estimates around 10 meteors per hour under dark-sky conditions.
For the best chance of seeing them, move away from bright city lights and give your eyes time to adjust to the darkness.
The Milky Way gets a final autumn spotlight
Oct. 10 brings a new Moon, creating some of the darkest skies of the month. That makes it an excellent time to look for the Milky Way's bright galactic core.
The core is visible in the evening during autumn but becomes increasingly difficult to see as winter approaches.
National Geographic notes that October offers one of the last good opportunities to see it from the United States before the region becomes hidden behind the Sun from roughly November through February.
A dark location with a wide, unobstructed view will offer the best chance.
Mercury makes a brief October appearance
Mercury is notoriously difficult to spot because it stays close to the Sun in Earth's sky. However, the planet gets a short viewing opportunity during the first half of October.
According to Astronomy, Mercury is best seen from the Southern Hemisphere, although people in the Northern Hemisphere with a clear western horizon may also catch it shortly after sunset. On Oct. 12, Mercury will appear near a thin crescent Moon.
Because Mercury sets quickly, observers will need a clear western horizon and should look soon after sunset.
Orionids peak on Oct. 21-22
The Orionid meteor shower will peak overnight from Oct. 21 to 22. The shower is created by debris left behind by Halley's Comet and can produce up to about 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions.
This year's Moon will interfere with some of the display, but there is still a useful viewing window after the Moon sets. Astronomy says the best time to watch will be during the early morning hours, particularly after about 1 a.m.
The Moon passes across the Pleiades on Oct. 27
October ends with another unusual Moon event. On Oct. 27, the Moon will pass in front of several stars in the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters.
The event is called a lunar occultation. The Pleiades are a young star cluster about 444 light-years away, and the Moon's movement can temporarily hide some of its stars.
The event will be visible across much of North America, although the exact view will depend on location.
For October skywatchers, the month offers something almost every week, from a bright Saturn visible all night to meteors, planets and a disappearing star cluster.
A clear sky, a dark location and a little patience may be enough to see several of these events.

Senate Adjourns Without Election Integrity Vote
Countdown: 33 Days To Midterms
Oct. 1 (UPI) — The U.S. Senate adjourned Wednesday until after the November elections, allowing those facing re-election to go home and campaign.
Senators, however, left a lot of unfinished work that they will have to scramble to finish in November and December. They are scheduled to return Nov. 9 and will only be in session for eight days in November and 14 days in December, and that’s counting Fridays, which aren’t typically Senate work days, The Hill reported.
Just before they adjourned, they voted to approve Keith Sonderling, President Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of labor.
Republicans used their last day in session forcing Democrats to vote on two bills to ask states to consider new ways to protect taxpayers from the expense of upgrading water infrastructure for data centers and to ban members of Congress from buying publicly traded stocks. Democrats blocked both bills mostly along party lines. They called the effort “toothless” show votes.
Majority Leader John Thune said the Republicans were successful in the effort.
“Given the overwhelming support for this measure in the House,” Thune said of the data center bill, “it’s difficult to conclude that Senate Democrats blocked this bill for any reason other than the desire to deny Republicans another win in an election year, which is a pretty poor reason.”
Republicans in the Senate are worried about the elections.
“No matter how much you love us as Republicans, we’re in control,” Sen. Jim Justice, R-W.Va., said. “If you can’t pay the bills, you’ve got a real problem with us.”
The most impactful legislation the Senate has passed in the last few weeks was an overhaul of college sports.
“I can assure you that moms and dads out there across America, when they lie down to sleep at night, they’re not worried about the football coaches,” Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., said last week.
Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said senators in tight races wanted to get home as soon as possible, The Hill reported.
“I think we’ll have a net loss. I think it’s unlikely we’d have the same numbers. The margins will be thinner,” he said.
Tillis added that keeping vulnerable senators in Washington hurts them.
“Every time you’re here, it’s a fundraiser you can’t host or it’s a town hall you can’t speak at. We need to get them back in the state. Invariably, the people who want to stick here, they all have one thing in common: They’re not up [for reelection] this cycle,”he said.

Jobless Claims Fall to 197,000 in Best Year Since 1969
Fewer Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week, continuing the best year for job security in nearly sixty years.
The Labor Department said Thursday that new applications for unemployment benefits dipped to 197,000, down from 198,000 in the prior week. (The prior week’s claim was revised up by 1,000.)
The four-week moving average of claims fell to 200,000, an extraordinary low level by historical standards, down from 202,500 in the prior week.
So far this year, jobless claims have averaged just under 210,000. This is the lowest average for the January through September period since 1969. From 1970 until this year, there was never a January through September period in which claims were this low.
The government reports continuing claims as well as initial claims. For the week ended September 19, these fell by 11,000 to 1,701,000, the lowest in three years. The previous week’s level was revised down by 7,000 to 1,712,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,723,750, a decrease of 18,500 from the previous week’s revised average.
