Ukrainian drone strike injures 12, mostly students, in Russia – governor

Twelve people, most of whom are students, have been injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Bryansk Region, acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk has said.

The UAV incursion targeted the city of Trubchevsk, sitting on the Desna River in the southern part of the region, not far from the border with Ukraine, Kovalchuk wrote in a post on social media on Wednesday.

“Horrific attack on civilians in Trubchevsk; there are children among the wounded,” he said.

At least seven of those injured were students, with one of the victims being in serious condition, according to the acting governor.

On Monday, Ukrainian drone strikes damaged a railway bridge and tracks at three locations in Bryansk Region, causing several trains to derail.

Part of a bridge collapsed on the Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo rail section, sending ten cars off the tracks, according to Kovalchuk.

A separate strike in Unecha District derailed another 18 empty freight cars, A third attack damaged tracks in Navlya District, but did not disrupt train traffic or cause injuries.

Moscow has accused Kiev of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones in an attempt to compensate for setbacks on the battlefield, where Russian forces have continued to advance.

One of the deadliest such strikes came in May when several waves of Ukrainian UAVs hit a student dormitory in the Donbass city of Starobelsk, killing 21 people, mostly young women.

Russia has responded to Kiev’s terrorist attacks by intensifying its long-range missile and drone campaign against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure.

The Defense Ministry in Moscow maintains that it does not target civilians and that its strikes are directed solely at military targets and infrastructure supporting Kiev’s forces.

87 Foreign Cruise Ship Employees Removed For Possession Of Child Abuse Material

Federal authorities have now pulled 87 foreign crew members off cruise ships under Operation Tidal Wave, a Customs and Border Protection initiative aimed at child sexual abuse material aboard the vessels.

Six Philippine nationals on a cruise ship at the Port of Boston admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material, according to a Sept. 25 CBP statement. Julio Caravia, CBP's acting director of field operations, said authorities won't tolerate the exploitation of children and that the agency will keep identifying and arresting those involved.

The multiagency operation, led by CBP, targets crew members tied to the possession, production, procurement, distribution, or use of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

As the Epoch Times notes further, the current phase of the operation has been in effect since mid-August, with 41 crew members removed in two previous phases.

In phase 1 of Operation Tidal Wave, which took place in San Diego in April, administrative enforcement actions were taken against 27 crew members from six vessels. These people were processed for removal and sent back to their home nations.

In phase 2, which took place in San Juan during June-July, enforcement actions were taken against 14 crew members from three vessels.

In the case of the Philippine nationals, they were processed for removal under the Immigration and Nationality Act. This provision makes foreign nationals who admit to committing acts involving moral turpitude inadmissible into the United States.

CBP clarified that under federal law, people involved with child sexual exploitation material can face severe penalties, including removal from the country, 10-year inadmissibility into the United States, and criminal prosecution.

In addition to CBP, Homeland Security Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were also part of the operation.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), its CyberTipline received more than 21 million reports last year related to child exploitation. CyberTipline receives reports of suspected child sexual exploitation from the public and electronic service providers.

More than 19 million reports were related to the manufacture, possession, and distribution of child pornography. Other reports included child sex trafficking, child sexual molestation, online enticement of children for sexual acts, and unsolicited obscene material sent to children.

John Fetterman Turns to Republican-Linked Firm in Bid to Secure Extra Campaign Cash: Report

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) reportedlyenlisted a Republican-aligned fundraising firm to help build a new pool of conservative donors, with participating right-wing groups offering as much as 75% of an initial donation generated through his appeals.

The arrangement was detailed on Wednesday by The Atlantic, which obtained private messages showing Blitz Digital Group pitching Fetterman fundraising copy to conservative political organizations.

“I thought you would be interested in this high performing Fetterman copy,” Blitz account associate Leah Mergener wrote in one message obtained by the magazine. “It has been doing crazy numbers for us.”

The appeal, signed by the Democratic senator, was reportedly tailored toward voters sympathetic to President Donald Trump and carried the subject line: “I’m always going to reject Socialism and the anti-American way of life.”

The Atlantic further noted that donations “flowed through a payment-processing firm,Anedot, that is used by Republicans.”

Blitz offered conservative organizations that circulated the solicitation what it called a “75% split” which one Republican consultant told The Atlantic related specifically to a donor’s first contribution as a commission, while Fetterman’s campaign would acquire the donor’s contact information for future fundraising. Neither Blitz nor Fetterman’s campaign responded to the magazine’s requests for comment.

The Atlantic identified Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) as one MAGA Republican lawmaker who circulated Fetterman’s appeal while using it to promote the prospect of the Democrat changing parties.

“I just got an email from John. He’s basically a Republican now,” Lee wrote in a solicitation obtained by The Atlantic. “I need your help to draft him.”

The fundraising shift follows months of scrutiny of Fetterman and his proximity to Republicans. The Atlantic noted Fetterman’s relationship withDemocratic digital fundraising firm MissionWired ended in June, and he later formed a joint fundraising committee with Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA). In September, he also delivered a recorded address at Trump’s midterm convention in Dallas focused on rejecting socialism.

Fetterman, meanwhile,repeatedly rejected suggestions that he plans to formally join the GOP, despite increasingly strained relations with the most progressive wing of his party over Israel and the Iran war.

Russia strikes Ukrainian pylon with steel-cutting drone for 1st time, as power outages hit 3 regions

Russia has for the first time used a jet-powered drone equipped with a warhead designed to destroy high-voltage power pylons and steel bridge structures, presidential adviser Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov said on Sept. 30.

The development comes as Moscow renews its large-scale campaign against Ukraine's energy system ahead of winter, launching its heaviest combined attack on energy infrastructure in months overnight on Sept. 30.

"Bad news. Today, the enemy for the first time used a special shaped-charge cutting warhead on a jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)," Beskrestnov, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky on defense technologies, wrote on Telegram.

According to Beskrestnov, the warhead was developed specifically to destroy high-voltage pylons and steel bridge structures. It consists of a 40-kilogram main charge and four additional destructive modules.

"I think the enemy plans to attack important high-voltage power transmission lines," he said.

Russia's overnight assault involved nearly 190 attack drones as well as ballistic missiles, Zelensky said. Energy infrastructure in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast was the primary target, while critical infrastructure was also struck in several other regions.

Ukraine's Air Force said that between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 254 of 285 drones. Russian forces launched 174 jet-powered drones, 146 of which were intercepted by Ukrainian forces.

As of around 6:30 p.m., 10 drones remained in Ukrainian airspace, the Air Force said.

By the evening, emergency power outages had been introduced in the capital and surrounding region as well as in Chernihiv and Zhytomyr oblasts following repeated Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, according to the Energy Ministry.

Earlier in the morning, the ministry said some consumers in Kyiv and five oblasts had been left without electricity due to Russian strikes, although no nationwide restrictions were initially expected during the day.

The Sept. 30 attack marked a sharp escalation in Russia's renewed campaign against Ukraine's power system. "Since the summer, there has been practically no day when the enemy has not attacked energy infrastructure.

But such a massive and combined attack has occurred for the first time since the end of the last heating season," Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said following the attack.

Ukraine's electricity system was already under strain before the renewed fall attacks. During the summer, increased demand put additional pressure on the grid during hot weather, while Russian attacks periodically caused temporary outages in different regions.

Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned national power grid operator, repeatedly urged consumers to reduce electricity use during peak hours.

Last winter, repeated Russian strikes severely damaged power and heating infrastructure across Ukraine, leaving thousands of homes without heat and power for prolonged periods during freezing temperatures.

Officials have warned that the upcoming winter could be even harsher than the last one. Ukraine has yet to secure funding for its 5.4 billion euro ($6.2 billion) energy resilience plan, according to previous reporting.

The renewed attacks are also coinciding with the first cold spell of the season. Ukraine's State Emergency Service warned that overnight temperatures could fall to between 0 and 3 degrees Celsius (32-37 Fahrenheit) across Ukraine from Oct. 1-3.

I have asked Attorney General Todd Blanche to study the report, and make a determination as to what to do about a relatively small Building Complex that is Hundreds of Millions of Dollars over budget, and is now going to cost, according to the Report, at least 2.5 Billion Dollars, with no end in sight. The Report states, “We were concerned to find that the Board did not obtain a project cost estimate from the [construction manager] until January 2026, which was 3.5 years after construction began and after the Board had awarded more than $2 billion in construction costs. As of July 2026, more than 4 years after construction began and $2 billion has been awarded for construction, the Board had yet to set a [guaranteed maximum price]” — An absolutely unheard of situation! — “The Board therefore still does not have cost certainty and has not transferred material risk to the [construction manager]." U.S. Airbase ‘Attack’ Gets Stranger: Suspect Phoned Police on Himself

Police who responded to the alleged bomb plot against an American airbase on British soil were actually summoned by one of the suspects, a report states.

The claimed bomb plot against the de facto U.S. air base at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, in which no bomb was found and no suspects have been held under terrorism laws, has taken yet another strange turn after it was stated that police were not, in fact, first alerted to the incident by a farmer returning home late at night, but by one of the suspects themselves.

Five men were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in the village of Whelford, which sits on the fringe of RAF Fairford, the British administrative name for one of the U.S. Air Force’s most important overseas bases. According to revelations claimed by The Times of London, Britain’s newspaper of record, police knew about the incident an hour earlier than previously thought because one of the masked men, “acting suspiciously” close to the airbase, called the emergency number 999 himself.

The security services were evidently expecting an attack at Fairford before the events of the early hours of Sunday morning. Because Fairford attracts a wide variety of exotic aircraft compared with other airports and airbases across the United Kingdom, it is perennially popular with plane-spotters, and this community noticed a sudden change in the security posture on Saturday, the day before.

The base reportedly moved to force protection level ‘Delta’, the highest and rarely seen state, in response to intelligence of a specific and imminent threat. In addition to the usual base security, a heavy earth-mover plant was parked blocking perimeter gates, armoured cars were regularly patrolling the fence line, and aircraft were dispersed around the base, a Cold War-era tactic to make the air wing less vulnerable to attack.

Given the peculiarities of the case — that the UK & U.S. governments were clearly anticipating an attack and that Washington said it had been tracking a group for some time, that a group of men with trucks full of petrol were arrested, but that no explosives were found and at least one of those men called the police on themselves, a wide variety of possibilities are now being considered. Among them are allegedly that the purpose of the incident may have been surveillance or testing security response times, or even a disruptive stunt to sow confusion, tie up policing resources, or ‘send a message’.

Police are also reported to be investigating whether the man among those five arrested who called the police did so because he got cold feet about whatever plot was afoot, or if drawing the police to that location was part of the plan.

As reported yesterday, it is clearly part of the message the United States is putting out that there was a serious threat against the base and that a foreign power was involved. To what extent the British and American governments are themselves engaging in deception and muddying the waters in counter-intelligence work in the public sphere remains to be determined.

Bahrain joins CENTCOM multinational drone unit

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said Bahrain has committed to joining Task Force Falcon Strike.

The US Senate on Wednesday blocked legislation placing new restrictions on stock trading by members of Congress, as Democrats refused to provide enough votes to advance the measure toward passage, arguing that it falls short of a full ban.

By a vote of 53-47, the Senate halted a Republican drive to open debate on the partisan bill, which was passed in July by the House of Representatives.

Sixty affirmative votes were needed to get the legislation over a Senate procedural hurdle.

Even amidst tragic news that at least 18 Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt state of Plateau were killed by Fulani jihadists over the past week, there is reason for hope: The nation’s government has finally bowed to pressure and taken concrete action against the plague of anti-Christian violence.

Because of pressure started by President Donald Trump’s campaign to stop the persecution of Christians, the government of Nigeria finally responded with commensurate force to stop these latest attacks in the Middle Belt from turning into something much worse, likely saving hundreds of Christians’ lives.

In the middle of September, local reporters covering persecution in Nigeria—like Masara Kim with Truth Nigeria—began documenting a massive build-up of Fulani jihadists in central Plateau state, one of the epicenters of persecution against Christians in the country. This was not another routine gathering of dozens of attackers, but nearly a thousand armed fighters amassing in the area, coming from all different regions in Nigeria.

The rationale for this terrorist build-up is murky, but it could have been related to reports that a major Fulani militant leader had just been arrested by local forces, or to general attempts to destabilize the country during a presidential election season. Whatever the reason, it appeared that the largest attack on this community in years would be launched imminently.

For context, the last time a coordinated attack of such magnitude occurred was on Christmas Eve 2023, when militias devastated 25 villages, leaving almost 200 Christians dead, with pastors beheaded and churches burned to the ground. Over the following months, more than a thousand were killed as the communities were left to fend for themselves, effectively defenseless.

The suspected attack, seemingly being planned for September, looked to be even bigger. Bigger also than the Yelewata Massacre of June 2025 in nearby Benue State that killed another 200 Christians.

As someone who has dedicated much of my work to combating persecution in Nigeria—and has visited and worshipped with these same communities—there were nights last week when I thought I would wake up to the news of hundreds of Christians killed.

But what happened instead could be a turning point in the fight against persecution.

The U.S. has been pushing for the Nigerian government to devote more resources to the Middle Belt for the past year. After becoming aware of the rapidly growing Fulani militant presence and recent sporadic firefights in Plateau, American officials began applying intense pressure to the government of Nigeria, which finally responded.

Last week, beginning the evening of Sept. 20, Nigerian forces surged into the Barkin Ladi area in a show of force unlike anything seen before in the Middle Belt, even using air support for the first time and establishing a local curfew. The additional forces were able to beat back the militants in most areas, and they deterred any large-scale attack from occurring.

The U.S. correctly commended Nigeria’s government for stepping up, responding to early warnings, and deploying security that could meet the scale of the attacks from the jihadists.

Not every attack was stopped. We mourn for every single one of those Christians killed last week. The lives lost stand as a testament to the ferocity of attacks that these communities face constantly. It is also terrible that so many of the attackers were able to get away. But still, for the first time, the government of Nigeria began to acknowledge and act to counter the true scale of the problem facing Christians in the Middle Belt.

None of this would have happened if not for Trump’s attention to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, particularly since he designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern nearly one year ago on Oct. 31, 2025.

Despite initial heavy resistance from the Nigerian government, the U.S. was able to bring Nigerian officials to the table in a Working Group that formed in January and was tasked with stopping the persecution. The initial focus of this engagement was on targeting Islamic State-affiliated groups in the Northeast and Northwest, but within months following successful strikes, the U.S.’s attention turned towards the Middle Belt, where most of the persecution against Christians in Nigeria takes place.

Trump has a long history of personal concern over the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. He raised the issue directly with the former president of Nigeria in a White House meeting in 2018. He designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern in 2020, before President Joe Biden inexplicably removed the designation the following year.

Months after the lights disappeared, a Cody resident says the unexplained objects have returned above Cedar Mountain

A Wyoming resident says mystery orbs over Cody returned in late September after disappearing for several months.

Jezriah Krubeck reported seeing glowing lights above Cedar Mountain, west of Cody, where he previously watched nearly two dozen lights from his porch between November and February.

The news came after Krubeck said the lights rose over the mountain, moved along the ridge and sometimes appeared to approach one another. He described them as 'just like orbs floating up over the mountain.'

'They would float up and move toward each other,' Krubeck said.

The available reporting does not establish what the lights were.

Their reported movements and possible explanations remain based largely on witness accounts and video footage.

Mystery Orbs Over Cody Appeared to Change Direction

Krubeck said he initially looked for conventional explanations rather than assuming the lights were unidentified craft. He said stars, meteors and other natural events did not appear to explain what he saw.

He also said satellite trackers he checked did not appear to match the lights. 'They would interact with each other,' Krubeck said. 'I don't think it was a naturally occurring phenomenon in the way that they moved.'

Krubeck said some lights appeared to stop or change direction. He also claimed they sometimes appeared to stop after he pointed a small laser towards them. His account does not establish that the laser caused any response.

The report does not establish that Krubeck aimed the laser at an aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration warns that intentionally aiming a laser at an aircraft is illegal and poses a serious safety risk.

Krubeck also said he could not see the flashing lights he associated with conventional aircraft. He reported that ordinary aircraft were sometimes visible nearby while the lights were present and said their numbers appeared to increase during some sightings.

For decades, residents of Norway’s Hessdalen valley have reported strange lights that seem to appear without warning and behave unlike ordinary lights.

The mystery behind the unexplained lights

In the 1980s, residents of Hessdalen, which is a small valley in central Norway, started seeing strange and unexplained lights at many spots around the valley.

The phenomenon was so strange that no one could explain it. To study them up close, Project Hessdalen was launched in 1983.

Even now, researchers are still trying to understand what they are.

Here's a look at the project and what scientists say about the eerie lights of Norway’s Hessdalen valley.

It started long before the 1980s

Residents of Hessdalen grew alarmed after they saw odd lights (called the Hessdalen Lights) appear at many spots around the valley in 1981.

At that time, hundreds of such lights were observed, and at peak, people filed about 20 reports a week.

According to Erling Strand, who’s the co-founder and longtime manager of Project Hessdalen, these lights were visible even before that.

Strand noted in an interview with History, "Actually, it's not correct to say [it] started [in the 1980s] because we have found in 1900, five stories, in 1800, a couple of stories."

He added that local history writing mentions something even before 1800.

Erling Strand also saw the lights firsthand

Strand first visited the valley in September 1982.

Remembering his first sighting, he added, “And I was standing out in the mountain together with some friends, and we saw this huge light in the mountain side, and then I knew there was a real phenomenon."

Soon after, he laid the foundation of Project Hessdalen in the summer of 1983.

Hessdalen lights don’t behave like ordinary lights

Strand noted that there were different types of light. "Some lights, you see a big flash, and then it's gone," he added. The others are balls of light that can hold still for minutes, and then they drift slowly or move very fast. These lights do not make any sound.

In early 1984, the project ran a field investigation with radar, cameras, a seismograph (which records ground vibrations), a Geiger counter (which detects radiation), and other instruments.

Team members made 53 light observations, and the effort showed for the first time that the phenomenon can be measured. But still, it stays elusive.

So what’s causing the strange lights in Norway?

As of now, scientists do not have a settled answer to this. One theory cited in the survey compares the lights to ball lightning.

It states that a change in the air by an outside cause, possibly stress in the Earth's crust, might interact with water and form a hot ball of plasma (a superheated, electrically charged gas) wrapped in a cooler coat.

Strand also describes a natural battery theory based on copper in the eastern mountains and iron in the western ones. But in this case, that battery would produce only about one volt, which he says is too little.

He concluded, "When you have studied so much, and you haven't found any answer which lies inside ordinary known physics, it must be something new."

“About half of them are IRR, but what do we do? Stop them? I don’t think so. Sure, we’re disappointed they didn’t re-up, but with Kurtz, they’ll still be doing the Lord’s work. More power to them, I say. We know Kurtz has the Epstein list and is targeting his clients, so maybe these Marines will get better action than floating on a boat. The Justice Department on Wednesday indicted 10 aliens for illegally voting in Minnesota. AG Blanche, US Attorney Daniel Rosen and DHS Chief Markwayne Mullin announced a federal grand jury indicted 10 defendants for voter fraud.

“The charge of false claim of citizenship in order to vote is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1015(f) and carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years, a maximum term of supervised release of three years, and a maximum fine of $250,000. Voting by aliens is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 611 and is a class A misdemeanor and carries a maximum term of imprisonment of one year, a maximum term of supervised release of one year, and a maximum fine of $100,000,” the DOJ said.
