Nikki L. Floris Named Intelligence Analyst in Charge of the Intelligence Division of the Washington Field Office

Director Christopher Wray has named Nikki L. Floris as the intelligence analyst in charge of the Intelligence Division of the Washington Field Office. Ms. Floris most recently served as a deputy assistant director in the Counterintelligence Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Floris is the first person to hold the position of intelligence analyst in charge at an FBI field office.

Ms. Floris joined the FBI as an intelligence analyst in 2005 and was assigned to the Directorate of Intelligence at Headquarters. She served on the director’s daily briefing staff and helped produce executive-level briefing documents.

In 2011, Ms. Floris was named the assistant section chief of the division’s Counterterrorism Analysis Section, responsible for operational and policy-making decisions and strategies involving terrorist recruitment, radicalization, and threats in the United States and overseas. She was named section chief in 2013.

Ms. Floris was promoted in 2017 to deputy assistant director in the Counterterrorism Division, where she oversaw terrorism financing operations, strategic operations, and counterterrorism analysis. Following public attention and concern from residents, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security(DHS) released new details about a woman who was arrested on July 15by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Chaparral, Texas.

In a video posted to social media, the incident suggested the woman, ‘a poor little grandma,’ went into a local convenience store asking for help because she was ‘being followed’ by ICE.

Agents arrived at the location and were seen speaking with the woman before being arrested.

The woman was identified by DHSas Martha Sias, a Mexican national and green card holder.

Sias on Wednesday, July 15, during what theagency described as a targeted immigration enforcement operation.

According to a statement from DHS,Sias is a convicted methamphetamine trafficker.

Despite how local news attempted to frame the arrest, DHS told reporter Ali Bradley, ” On July 15, ICE conducted a targeted immigration enforcement operation and arrested Martha Sias, a criminal alien from Mexico who is a convicted meth trafficker.”

“Martha Sias is a green card holder who is amendable to removal proceedings because of her criminal history. She will receive full due process and has an upcoming hearing.”

“Possessing a green card is a privilege, not a right. Under our nation’s laws, our government has the authority to revoke a green card if our laws are broken and abused.”

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE is targeting the worst of the worst. Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S.”

KFOX14/CBS4 obtained the complaint affidavit that details Sias’s drug arrest in January 2022.

According to the documents, on January 12, 2022, at around 1 p.m., Sias crossed from Ciudad Juarez to El Paso through the Paso Del Norte border bridge, driving a maroon Ford Expedition SUV with her husband.

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection said they noticed something was off with the SUV’s rear door panels after a portable X-ray scan.

Then, after officers interview them regarding where they were coming from and what they were bringing in from Mexico, the documents state that Sias told officersshe had gone to Juarez to sign up some customers for OMNILIFE supplements, which she said she sold, and denied bringing anything illegal into the country.

However, according to the documents,after a second inspection, officers discovered 18 bundles of meth (about 20 lbs.) hidden inside the two rear door panels.

According to the court records, Sias pleaded guilty to manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance in October 2025.

She was sentenced to 10 years’ probation with 400 hours of community service.(why probation?)

16 children rescued in Ohio: Explore timeline of investigation ahead of court date

Gary Siders, 73; Christina Siders, 66; Gary Siders Jr., 36; and Elizabeth Siders, 33, were arrested on June 30. Each was charged with 16 counts of endangering children. Gary Siders Jr. is due in court this week on four separate counts of public indecency.

Deputies said they found 16 children who were allegedly kept isolated in a 12-foot-by-12-foot room. Officials said seven children were hospitalized — two of whom were flown to trauma centers — and are now being cared for through the state.

Officials responded to the home on Ohmer Street on June 30 with a search warrant, not expecting to find the 16 children. Officials said the warrant was part of a “parallel investigation” involving allegations of domestic abuse and child neglect. The search warrant in the case is sealed, so the details leading up to the operation are unknown.

It is believed deputies may have also been serving Gary Siders Jr. with a warrant due to the indecent exposure charges. According to court records, the younger Siders man exposed himself outside of his home to people other than those in his household on May 23, May 27, May 29 and May 31.

All four Siders are charged with second-degree felony child endangerment, which specifies torture or cruelly abusing a child. Court records also specify that there was “serious physical harm” done to each child.

LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On Monday, the Michigan Court of Appeals reversed the convictions of two men tied to the 2020 plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

The ruling for Pete Musico and Paul Bellar follows a decision earlier this summer by a different Court of Appeals panel that reversed the conviction of co-defendant Joseph Morrison.

Musico, Bellar, and Morrison were convicted in state court on charges related to the alleged plot to kidnap Whitmer, while several other defendants were prosecuted separately in federal court.

In that earlier ruling, the panel overturned Morrison’s convictions after finding that kidnapping is “not a violent felony” under Michigan law.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office announced plans to appeal the earlier ruling. She called the decision “linguistic gymnastics.”

Nessel stated, “It is clear that all three of these defendants engaged in a coordinated plan to kidnap and harm the governor and cause mayhem and destruction across our communities in the process. My office will not downplay domestic terrorism and will not stand by while criminal statutes meant to preserve public safety are arbitrarily gutted.”

Lawyers for the defendants argued the plot was pushed by FBI informants who infiltrated the men’s group.

Capital flight: Illinois has now become Taxifornia 2.0, where, like California and New York, businesses are voting with their U-Hauls and heading to Texas, and Florida. Trump has said "Job-producing people and companies are being forced to flee at levels never seen before. Remember, once people and companies leave, they are never coming back."

With the most recent departure of True Value Hardware headquarters, Illinois appears to be mimicking California's business-repellent formula, bolstering President Donald Trump's warnings to blue states that higher taxes equate to higher exits.

"Job-producing people and companies are being forced to flee at levels never seen before. Remember, once people and companies leave, they are never coming back," Trump posted to his Truth Social account in April.

True Value joins the ranks of other longtime Illinois companies like Boeing, Tyson Foods, Morton Salt and Caterpillar, the latter of which pointedly cautioned that the state's inability to balance the budget and lower taxes would drive out businesses.

Founded in Illinois in 1948, the hardware wholesaler is relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana, following its 2024 bankruptcy and acquisition by rival Do It Best. The company cited long-term stability and a need for a more business-friendly environment, resulting in the loss of hundreds of headquarters jobs and associated revenue for the state.

The "U-Haul Growth Index" is a leading indicator of where people and companies are moving from and to. The latest data shows an overwhelming number of entrepreneurs and workers ditching Illinois and California for the greener pastures of Texas and Florida. Other states acting as refuges from high taxes and regulatory strangulation include North Carolina, Tennessee and Arizona.

Even the Chicago Bears NFL franchise announced in June that it would be relocating to Hammond, Indiana

In a particularly harsh blow to the Prairie State, the Chicago Bears, the NFL franchise that called Chicago home for over 100 years, announced in June that it would be relocating to Hammond, Indiana.

Soldier Field, home to the Bears, is the smallest in the league by capacity, is exposed to weather in a harsh climate, and despite purchasing 326 acres at the nearby Arlington Park racetrack in 2021 for a potential new site, the business climate was too uncertain for the legacy team to survive. Furthermore, in order to build a new facility with help from the fan base, it would require tax relief to make it feasible, even after a $2 billion private investment.

California: the original pack-your-bags tax climate

The Golden State has its own set of high-profile businesses that have said goodbye to high taxes, burdensome regulations and a punishing business climate. Charles Schwab was one of the first to jump ship in 2019, announcing its move from San Francisco to Westlake, Texas.

Hewlett-Packard called it quits a year later, moving from San Jose, California, to Houston. Tesla bailed in 2021, Chevron and Space X in 2024, and Public Storage this year.

It could take a while for these departures to hurt Democrats. In both California and Illinois, Democrats continue to win statewide and in urban centers.

Despite what detrimental effects may come for these states, their leaders appear to merely be following the will of their constituents. A March 2025 Pew Research Center survey found that 81% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents favor raising taxes on large businesses and corporations. Seventy-four percent support increases on households earning over $400,000 annually and support is even higher among liberal Democrats (90% for businesses, 83% for high earners).

This aligns with earlier 2024 Navigator Research findings showing 94% of Democrats backing taxes on the rich.

More recent 2026 polling from the Bipartisan Policy Center and Data for Progress reinforces the pattern, with Democrats preferring targeted hikes on millionaires and large corporations as a way to address debt or fund priorities.

Turtle Rock on Mars

Is this a fossilized turtle on Mars? No. Although resembling a large Earth tortoise, this is a layered rock outcrop on Mars that is estimated to span about 15 meters, making it much larger than turtles on Earth. NASA’s robotic Curiosity rover came across this unusual mound, dubbed Miraflores, last month during its 4922nd Martian day exploring Mars. The small butte may survive because it was somehow more resistant to erosion than surrounding rock. More recent wind has now covered its top with orange Martian sand. Below the top shell, many layers of stratified rock are visible, possibly indicating a long history of intermittent wind-blown sand being deposited and then hardened by ground water. Similar wind-eroded layered landforms, such as yardangs in the Qaidam Desert of China, exist here on Earth. Curiosity and its companion rover Perseverance continue to investigate the ancient history of Mars as well as searching for signs of primeval life.

Fifty years ago, the Church Committee warned America about what happens when our intelligence agencies turn their immense power against the people they serve. This week, we learned it happened again. Newly declassified documents released by the Trump Administration show that intelligence officials deliberately altered what President Trump was told about China’s operation to influence the 2020 election.

Investigative journalist Catherine Herridge found the proof in their own words, and she started finding it within hours of the release.

The email is dated Friday, November 20, 2020. The sender’s name is redacted, but the signature line identifies the author as a Strategic Intelligence Analyst working on China and North Korea Strategic Assessments. The email reads, “We have deliberately massaged our one pending PDB to avoid any direct links to the election.”

The PDB is the President’s Daily Brief, the most sensitive intelligence document in the United States government. It exists for one purpose, which is to give the Commander in Chief the unvarnished truth so he can defend this nation. These officials admitted, in writing, that they doctored it.

The email confirms what a whistleblower inside the intelligence community alleged years ago.

According to Herridge’s reporting, that whistleblower sounded the alarm in the summer of 2020, right as the country headed into the election.

Analysts were seeing indicators of a Chinese influence operation, which means an effort to shape how Americans vote and how they feel about a presidential candidate. That differs from an interference operation, which means penetrating voter rolls and voting systems.

The whistleblower raised the warning through proper channels, and then the whole thing was suppressed.

Herridge describes what the intelligence community calls a multi-domain operation. Beijing pulled every lever of power it had. That included trade, diplomacy, open-source information, and social media, all aimed at one American election.

The scale goes beyond messaging. Herridge also reports allegations that China hacked the data of more than 220 million American voters. She warns that Beijing can combine those records with stolen security clearance files and health data to build digital dossiers on millions of Americans, opening the door to voter registration fraud, identity theft&espionage recruitment.

A foreign adversary now holds a file on you, your family&your neighbors&the officials paid to sound the alarm chose silence instead.

The bias was even written by hand. Herridge reports that some intelligence documents contained edits in officials’ own handwriting showing they wanted out anything that could help President Trump win reelection.

Personal political feelings drove decisions inside the agencies our tax dollars fund to protect us&the people who wrote those edits knew exactly what they were doing.

When unelected officials hide a foreign adversary’s operation from a duly elected President, they betray their oath, they betray the Constitution, and they betray you.

Our founders gave us Article III for a reason.

They knew the gravest danger to a republic comes from those who aid its enemies from within.

Every official who touched that briefing should face investigation under oath&prosecutors should follow the evidence wherever it leads.

Herridge made one more point worth remembering.

The administration released these documents so the public can fact-check every claim for themselves.

FBI Blocked Interview of Scientist [Peter Daszak] Who Was at Wuhan Lab: Documents

Government personnel were preparing to interview the head of an organization that funneled money from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to a high-level laboratory in Wuhan, China, when the FBI intervened, according to newly released documents.

Officials with Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) National Targeting Center wanted to question Peter Daszak, a scientist who was president of the EcoHealth Alliance organization, about his time in Wuhan as part of a team that investigated the origins of COVID-19, the documents, released by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), show.

They prepared to ask Daszak why he was chosen to be part of the World Health Organization team that investigated the origins; whether he visited the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the lab that was experimenting with bat coronaviruses and was located near the first COVID-19 cases; which Chinese government officials the team met with; and whether he collected any biological samples during the trip, according to a Feb. 2, 2021, email.

“Daszack is an extremely high person of interest and should have a thorough inspection either outbound/inbound,” one official said as Daszak prepared to fly from a New York airport to China.

The emails noted Daszak’s prior research, including experiments with a Wuhan scientist that created a bat coronavirus that could directly infect humans. Daszak’s organization also funneled millions of dollars from the NIH to the Wuhan lab, and he was a friend of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the time.

Ahead of Daszak’s Feb. 5, 2021, return, the request for an interview was rescinded.

“Please disregard,” a CBP official, whose identity was redacted, wrote in one email.

“Please be advised FBI New York requested we do not stop the subject,” another email from a CBP official said.

The FBI and CBP did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.

Federal officials in 2025 banned Daszak and EcoHealth Alliance from federal funding for five years. They said EcoHealth had not properly conducted oversight of experiments at the Wuhan lab.

EcoHealth has said that the allegations against it were not accurate.

The new release came as Paul, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, prepares to question Fauci under oath about the origins of COVID-19 and Fauci’s past testimony that the agency he headed for decades never funded risky gain-of-function research.

A hearing with Fauci is scheduled to take place on the morning of July 29. Paul subpoenaed Fauci recently after Fauci declined a request to voluntarily testify to the panel.

New NASA Earth Missions Gear Up to Start Science Flights

From the Arctic fringes to farm country, NASA’s newest class of suborbital Earth Venture missions is gearing up to deliver science that will benefit communities in the United States and beyond.

The six projects will mobilize hundreds of scientists and pilots from NASA, the U.S. Navy, universities, and other institutions over the next several years.

While the investigations range across topics, a defining feature of suborbital missions is the use of sensors mounted on aircraft.

Airborne remote sensing serves as a bridge between ground-based instruments and satellites.

Data collected via planes, helicopters, drones, and balloons can fill in gaps in computer models used by weather forecasters, city planners, and others.

When wildfires create their own weather

The first project to take wing this summer is Injected Smoke and PYRocumulonimbus Experiment (INSPYRE), led by the Naval Research Laboratory.

From mission headquarters in Colorado, the team will chase one of the least understood forms of severe weather on Earth: towering “fire clouds” generated when extreme wildfires burn hot enough to brew their own thunderstorms.

Smoky and crackling with lightning, these unique storms can create blind spots for aviators above and spark new blazes below.

Measuring and mapping the dangerous storms as they develop in real-time will help scientists forecast them in the future.

Several aircraft, including NASA’s high-altitude ER-2, flying out of Montana, will carry a large suite of instruments over wildfire-generated storm systems.

Among them will be two state-of-the-art infrared wildfire trackers, which were developed at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California and will be flying as part of the agency’s FireSense program.

Testing the air over farmland, megacities

Agricultural emissions represent an important and understudied part of Earth’s land and atmosphere systems. 

The FarmFlux mission, which kicks off this year, will deploy more than a dozen sensors to measure ozone, methane, ammonia, particulates, and other pollutants rising from agricultural lands and animal farms stretching from the Midwest to California’s Central Valley. These emissions affect human health, global climate, and stratospheric ozone. The mission is led by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, along with Colorado State University, and Boston University.

Two North American cities with air quality concerns are Atlanta and Mexico City. But the causes differ, with weather and terrain playing a role.

To explore these differences, the Hemispheric Airborne Measurements of Air Quality (HAMAQ) mission will investigate areas of poor air in the two capitals and test how satellite information can help forecasting and mitigation efforts.

The team will deploy two aircraft at different altitudes: NASA’s P-3B will fly close to the surface, directly measuring fine particle and gaseous pollutants, while the recently acquired 777 science jet will soar high above, mapping pollution with remote sensors.

NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, is leading the mission.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Tuesday he’s stopping more than $1 billion in federal Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota over suspected fraud.

“We are not sending Medicaid dollars out the door until we have confidence that they are being spent lawfully and appropriately,” Kennedy said at an announcement on Tuesday.

Kennedy said if California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) want the money to fund low-income healthcare, “they need to provide documentation that these payments are legitimate.”

Kennedy blamed the Biden administration and the Democratic leadership in both blue states for alleged misuse of taxpayer dollars.

“Instead of protecting your money, they open the floodgates to theft,” Kennedy said. “They dismantle basic program integrity and oversight.”

The health secretary criticized the Biden administration’s oversight of Medicaid, arguing that former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra “looked the other way while fraud, waste, and abuse exploded.”

“The scammers got paid,” Kennedy said. “The taxpayers got stuck with these enormous bills.”

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is deferring over $200 million and over $867 million in federal Medicaid payments for Minnesota and California, respectively. The hold will be in place while federal officers review “high-risk Medicaid claims” and document deficiencies.

In Minnesota, the funding involves 14 high-risk areas that were identified as suspect because of vulnerabilities or evidence of fraudulent activity.

CMS officials suspect the questionable spending in California is rooted in in-home services. Over the past two federal fiscal years, California’s spending in these programs went up 24%, while the rest of the country’s average was 12%, according to CMS administrator Mehmet Oz.

The arrest of Khalid Ahmed Satary and return to the U.S. is the third Most Wanted Fraudster capture from this FBI and our partners in just 5 weeks – continuing the historic run of success for this new initiative.

Satary was indicted in 2019 on charges on Health Care Fraud Conspiracy, allegedly stealing $547 million from 2016-2019 by fraudulently billing Medicare for expensive and medically unnecessary genetic tests, using deceptive marketing campaigns, illegal kickbacks, and bribes.

This is another subject who exploited a program dedicated to helping our most vulnerable and instead stole for himself.

Satary has been on the run since 2022, but we got him thanks to great work and coordination from the interagency and our overseas partners.

This is just the latest example showing President Trump’s and Vice President Vance’s White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud will not be deterred in our mission to track down each and every fraudster who allegedly steals from American taxpayers. And it’s yet another high value target returned from overseas by this FBI - the 27th such transfer since June.
