Russian forces have carried out high-precision strikes on drone and missile production facilities in Kiev, as well as military-related port infrastructure in Odessa, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.

Among the targets was the state-owned enterprise Radioizmeritel,which the ministry described as a key supplier of electronic components for Neptun-MD guided missiles and FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles produced by Fire Point. The company was promoted internationally by Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and has been linked to his former business associate Timur Mindich, who has been accused of running a large-scale corruption scheme.

The ministry also said it struck the Kiev-79 enterprise, which assembles warheads for Ukrainian drones and missiles and serves as a logistics hub for military equipment.

In Odessa, Russian missile and drone strikes targeted fuel storage facilities supplying the Ukrainian military, the ministry said. It added that a cargo vessel carrying military equipment and a tanker were also hit.

Last week, the MOD said that its long-range strike campaign had demonstrated thatRussian weapons can “reliably penetrate any anti-aircraft air or missile defense systems provided to Zelensky by Western sponsors.” It added that Kiev had deployed virtually all available Western air defense systems to protect the capital but failed to prevent Russian strikes from reaching their targets.

Moscow has intensified long-range attacks on Ukraine’s military-industrial and dual-use infrastructure in recent weeks. The Defense Ministry has described the campaign as retaliation for Ukrainian terrorist attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, which it says have increased as Kiev’s forces have suffered setbacks on the battlefield.

Earlier this month, Russia announced that it had captured Konstantinovka, a major Donbass city on the southern edge of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, the last major urban stronghold under Kiev’s control in the region.

House Republicans scored another major victory Thursday after the House Budget Committee advanced the SAVE and Protect America Act through the budget reconciliation process.

The House Budget Committeeadvanced a framework for a third reconciliation bill.

Speaker Mike Johnson announced the committee’s approval,calling it a critical milestone in the Republican effort to enact the SAVE America Actdespite months of Democrat obstruction and Senate procedural roadblocks.

The reconciliation strategy is designed to allow the measure to pass the Senate with a simple majority rather than the traditional 60 votes required to overcome a filibuster,although Senate rules will ultimately determine which provisions qualify.

“Today, the Budget Committeeadvanced the SAVE and Protect America Act. This is the next step toward advancing the SAVE America Act — our party’s top legislative priority,” Johnson wrote.

He also blasted Democrats for refusing to participate in the effort.

“Democrats have chosen not to engage on these important issues. Ultimately, they’ll have to answer to the American people.”

The next step after the House Budget Committee advances a budget resolution containing reconciliation instructions is for the full House of Representatives to debate and vote on the resolution, which is expected to occur as early as the week of July 20, 2026.

The House has already passed versions of this bill multiple times.Each time, Senate Democrats and a handful of RINOs have blocked it, hiding behind the filibuster while refusing to explain to voterswhy they oppose basic safeguards against non-citizen voting.

It can be recalled that on Wednesday, the House ==Republicans delivered a major victory for election integrity after passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with the SAVE America Act language included•=, sending the combined legislation to the Senate in a 217-209 vote.

Now the path is clearer. Because this is moving through reconciliation,it only needs a simple majority in the Senate, 50 votes plus Vice President JD Vance to break any ties.

Vance blasted Senate Republicans over what he called “procedural bullsh*t,” arguing there is no constitutional requirement for the Senate’s 60-vote legislative thresholdand insisting Republicans should use the reconciliation process to enact election integrity reforms.

Speaking alongside Vice President Vance on Wednesday, Johnson called the reconciliation package “our best shot” at passing the legislation.

“It’s our best shot at enacting our party’s top priority legislation, the SAVE America Act. It is important to the American people and it’s important to the future.And there is nothing in this bill that every Republican in Congress cannot proudly get behind.”

An LGBTQ venue called the Unholy Playhouse, later renamed the Divine Playhouse, opened in the site of a 158-year-old former Catholic church in Sydney with taxpayer funding. Christian groups protested because the shows directly mocked Christianity. In the end, the landlord, Revelop, issued a breach notice demanding that the venue “cease engaging in offensive trade” within two days or face lease termination.

However, the intense debate in support of the venue, particularly the rhetoric condemning Christians for opposing it, illustrates the shift toward a post-Christian world.

The building, St. John the Evangelist Church, was built in 1868, owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, and deconsecrated around 1932. It later housed the Genesian Theatre for roughly 80 years, and the property was sold to developers in 2017. The Divine Playhouse opened on July 8, 2026, operating on a one-year lease with an option to extend, at 422-424 Kent Street in Sydney’s CBD.

The venue was produced by Kat Dopper, known for Heaps Gay and Pleasures Playhouse, and operated by Heaps Gay Events. It was marketed as “a sanctuary for divine mischief.” Programming included live music, DJ sets, karaoke backed by a gospel choir, a cabaret series called Holy Flesh, a Harry Potter-themed party, and an event titled Possession, billed as Australia’s first live exorcism, scheduled for October. A weekend event was billed as Sunday Mess: An Unholy Brunch Party – The Resurrection.

Opening-night staff included performers dressed as nuns in blue habits. The project received a $100,000 grant from the New South Wales government arts agency, Create NSW, to support a four-month program. The opening event, titled “The First Rite,” featured men dressed as nuns in sexualized pig angel suits. The following night, the venue hosted a comedy show titled Two Queers Walk Into A Bar.

A spokesperson for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney said the church “holds a strong Catholic history, and to see it used for direct mockery of our beliefs – events built around the resurrection and purgatory – is genuinely hurtful to our community,” and called on the NSW Government to “apply the same standard to all faiths.”

The venue drew immediate opposition. On opening night, roughly 70 people from Christian groups Fit for the Kingdom and The Prodigal Sons gathered outside the venue, chanting hymns and filming attendees. One protester, Lewis Anderson, filmed himself confronting patrons entering the venue and posted the video to Instagram. Catholic petitioner Chris Nave’s Change.org campaign calling on the NSW Government to withdraw support for the venue reached 5,200 signatures.

The two Christian groups gave specific reasons for their opposition. A Prodigal Sons spokesperson said the choice of a former church was deliberate rather than incidental. “There is no shortage of venues across Sydney where the LGBTQ community is free to express itself and its artistic creativity,” the spokesperson said. “The selection of a former church is a deliberate and conscious decision.”

The groups pointed to a specific opening-night performance, in which a performer dressed as a pig offered McDonald’s fries as a parody of Holy Communion, as an example of what they found offensive. A Fit for the Kingdom spokesperson said the group’s objection was to performances that “mocked Christian beliefs.”

Both groups said their goal was not to silence artists but, in the words of Prodigal Sons, to communicate “how deeply this material has wounded a community of faith.”

Shabir Ahmed was convicted of 30 rape offenses against girls as young as 12 in Rochdale in 2012

Pakistan-born Shabir Ahmed, the rape gang ringleader recently released in the UK after serving a prison term for dozens of child sex offenses, committed his crimes because of his upbringing in England, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said on Thursday.

The 73-year-old, who first came to the UK as a teenager, was a leading figure in the Rochdale grooming gang, which sexually abused and trafficked British girls as young as 12 in the Greater Manchester borough during the 2000s.

Ahmed was released from prison under supervision in early June after serving 14 years. British authorities have been unable to deport him because of a provision protecting certain Commonwealth citizens who were resident in the UK before 1973, despite his British citizenship having been revoked following his 2012 convictions.

“The matter in question is entirely an internal matter of the United Kingdom,” Andrabi said at a press briefing.

Regardless of where [Ahmed] was born, the onus lies on where he grew up, was raised, groomed, and, unfortunately, was spoiled... His heinous crimes demand serious introspection rather than a quest to search for extraneous causes.

The spokesman stressed that Islamabad strongly condemns child sexual abuse, which should be “punished to the fullest extent of the law, irrespective of race, ethnicity, or religion,” but insisted that Pakistan “has no connection whatsoever with this matter” and “cannot be associated” with any related decisions.

On Monday, UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced plans to amend the Immigration Act to remove the legal barrier preventing Ahmed’s deportation.

The Rochdale rape gang was one of many grooming gangs, predominantly composed of men of Pakistani origin, that systematically raped and sexually trafficked vulnerable young British girls across the UK over decades.

The grooming gangs scandal returned to the spotlight of British politics last year, forcing the Labour government to announce a nationwide inquiry, which unearthed “blindness, ignorance, prejudice, defensiveness” and systematic failures by police and public bodies to protect victims and act on reports of abuse.

According to a D.H.S. review of state voter rolls and public records, they identified approximately 278,000 non-citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections. I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the ability of persons located, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections, including through the unauthorized accessing of election and campaign infrastructure or the covert distribution of propaganda and disinformation, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. Although there has been no evidence of a foreign power altering the outcome or vote tabulation in any United States election, foreign powers have historically sought to exploit America’s free and open political system. In recent years, the proliferation of digital devices and internet-based communications has created significant vulnerabilities and magnified the scope and intensity of the threat of foreign interference, as illustrated in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.

Accordingly, I hereby order:

Section 1. (a) Not later than 45 days after the conclusion of a United States election, the Director of National Intelligence, in consultation with the heads of any other appropriate executive departments and agencies (agencies), shall conduct an assessment of any information indicating that a foreign government, or any person acting as an agent of or on behalf of a foreign government, has acted with the intent or purpose of interfering in that election. The assessment shall identify, to the maximum extent ascertainable, the nature of any foreign interference and any methods employed to execute it, the persons involved, and the foreign government or governments that authorized, directed, sponsored, or supported it. The Director of National Intelligence shall deliver this assessment and appropriate supporting information to the President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Defense, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of Homeland Security.

The state is now spending more on its massive Medicaid program than it does on K-12 schools — as it already pays more per person than anywhere else in the country, a shocking new analysis showed.

New York taxpayers paid an eye-watering $39.4 billion for the Medicaid program in the 2025-26 fiscal year — 26.5% of the entire state budget — and more than the $37 billion it dished out for education, according to a new report from state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.

The soaring spending comes as the federal government probes Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration and its Medicaid program for possible waste, fraud and abuse.

“When Medicaid outranks math, the state’s fiscal diagnosis isn’t complicated,” Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, told The Post. “Every tough decision New York makes to clean up Medicaid ensures that education is not crowded out.”

The Trump administration most recently set its sights on numerous adult care centers for seniors located in New York City over possible fraud.

Medicaid is the national health insurance program for the needy, with costs shared by the federal, state and local governments.

New York already spends more per resident on Medicaid than any state in the US — and it pays more on education per student than anywhere else.

State spending on Medicaid has more than doubled over the last decade.

“In recent years, all [state] agency Medicaid spending has overtaken spending on School Aid,” DiNapoli’s report said, analyzing the effects of the state’s record-high $269 billion budget for 2026-27.

Combined spending on Medicaid and education accounts for more than half the current state budget.

DiNapoli’s analysis, citing Hochul’s budget division projections, said state Medicaid will soar in three years to $53.3 billion — 29% of state spending in three years — while School Aid spending will jump to $43.7 billion, or 23.8% — a nearly $10 billion gap.

“Spending on Medicaid is too high. It’s a free for all. There’s no accountability. They don’t care about the results,” said Bill Hammond, a fellow with the Empire Center for Public Policy who monitors New York’s health care policy.

Every sector of the influential health care industry receives Medicaid dollars — hospitals, nursing homes, medical clinics, drug manufacturers and home care services, Hammond said.

“It’s not about serving the public interest. It’s about serving special interests,” he said.

The Dust Trail of Comet Tempel 2

Comet 10P/Tempel 2 orbits the Sun once every 5.4 years. Currently visible in binoculars or small telescopes toward the constellation Capricornus, the periodic comet is captured in this sharp telescopic image from July 11 sporting a bright nuclear region and pretty greenish coma. Remarkably, a thin dust trail, not a typical dust tail, is also seen extending both east and west of the Tempel 2 nucleus. Unlike a comet dust tail, which tends to temporarily fan out in a direction away from the Sun, this dust trail is due to the residual dust shed during many past orbits along this ancient periodic comet's orbital plane. In fact, Tempel 2's dust trail may get a little narrower and brighter from our perspective as Earth crosses through the comet's orbital plane on July 20. Comet 10P/Tempel 2 will reach a perihelion on August 2, and make its closest approach to Earth on August 3.
