Tillis Goes on Unhinged Rant Against SAVE America Act From Senate Floor, Vows to Block Measure(VIDEO)

Senator Thom Tillis (NC) on Thursday went ballistic in a long-winded rant against the SAVE America Act from the Senate floor.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed the SAVE America Act as part of a National Security bill.

On Thursday the House Budget Committee advanced the SAVE and Protect America Act through the budget reconciliation process.

The House Budget Committee advanced a framework for a third reconciliation bill.

The reconciliation strategy is designed to allow the measure to pass the Senate with a simple majority rather than the traditional 60 votes required to overcome a filibuster, although Senate rules will ultimately determine which provisions qualify.

Tillis, a bitter Trump hater and RINO of all RINOs who announced he is not seeking reelection this year, vowed to block the bill as he went off on President Trump.

“If I see a reconciliation bill come from the House with another failed attempt to confuse this election, I will use every device I have available to slow down the wheels of government until people cop a clue and do the math,” Tillis said.

“Don’t fool the American people into thinking you can implement something of this complexity over 60 days, my God it needed to happen two years ago,” Tillis said.

“I have been trying to explain for nearly a year that the SAVE Act, whether it’s the SAVE Act, the SAVE America Act, the new SAVE legislation that’s being proposed in the House, SAVE goes to Hollywood, SAVE goes to Hawaii, whatever the sequels are, all of them are fundamentally flawed and impossible to implement by this election,” Tillis said, mocking President Trump’s proposal.

“Requirement for Voter I.D. to vote should be something that NO American should oppose. If you want to register to vote in the United States, you have to be a citizen in the United States,” the White House previously said in a statement.

The White House previously touted a poll that showed more than 70% of Americans support the SAVE America Act.

Iran Tells Houthis to Close Red Sea Gateway if U.S. Hits Power Network

Reuters July 16, 2026

DUBAI, July 16 (Reuters) – Iran has asked Yemen’s Houthi movement to stand ready to close the Red Sea oil route if the United States strikes Iranian power infrastructure, three sources told Reuters on Thursday, posing a potent new threat to global energy supplies.

The idea has been discussed within the Islamic Republic’s leadership, and the message has been conveyed to Iran’s Houthi allies, two senior Iranian sources and a regional source familiar with the matter said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The sources said the Houthis had been informed recently of Tehran’s request, which has not been previously reported.

They did not give further details on how it had been conveyed or whether it was after U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to attack Iranian power infrastructure on Tuesday.

Iran’s foreign ministry and a spokesperson for the Houthi group were not immediately available to respond to Reuters’ request.

HOUTHIS DEPLOY DRONES NEAR BAB EL-MANDEB, SAYS SOURCE

A source close to the Houthis said the group had completed preparations to attack shipping by deploying missiles and drones near Bab el-Mandeb strait, the gateway to the Red Sea, in Yemen’s highlands overlooking Hodeidah and the Gulf of Aden and was awaiting the order to begin.

Any threat to the Red Sea and its Bab el-Mandeb gateway risks hugely exacerbating the global energy crisis triggered by Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and underscores the explosive risks stemming from a new round of warfare.

With the Hormuz strait already shut, any Houthi attacks on vessels or ports in the Red Sea would leave the Middle East’s two main oil export routes disrupted simultaneously, opening a new front in both the energy crisis and Iran’s wider conflict with the United States.

Representatives of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who are already in Yemen will control the decision on when to close the Bab el-Mandeb strait, said the source close to the Houthis.

In a sign of escalating tensions in the region, the Houthis fired missiles at Saudi Arabia after accusing the kingdom of bombing an airport under their control on Monday, breaking a four-year truce in the conflict between the kingdom and the group.

Torbjorn Solvedt, principal Middle East analyst with risk intelligence company Verisk Maplecroft, said the flare-up between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia had come at a bad time.

“If fighting intensifies and spills over into Red Sea export infrastructure and shipping, it will threaten the only major alternative route for oil exports from the region,” he said.

Two regional sources close to Riyadh said the kingdom was taking threats from Iran and the Houthis very seriously, adding that Riyadh was aware the Yemeni group was now closely coordinating with Iran over the Red Sea.

The conflict began on February 28, when Israel and the United States attacked Iran, leading Tehran to shut the Strait of Hormuz, the main route before the war for around a fifth of global energy supplies.

Tensions have mounted since a fragile June truce between Tehran and Washington collapsed, reviving fears of full-scale war and disrupting energy flows through the Strait.

RED SEA CLOSURE WOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT, SOURCE SAYS

A significant amount of Gulf oil has since been diverted to the Red Sea through a Saudi pipeline, and the waterway now carries around 7% of global energy supplies.

When the Houthis attacked shipping during the Gaza war, major shipping companies diverted their cargoes to the much longer, more expensive route around Africa.

With Saudi Arabia having itself diverted 70% of its energy exports through its Red Sea port of Yanbu, any direct attacks there would also be a big problem for oil markets.

One of the regional sources said Iran’s clerical rulers were seeking to pressure the United States by raising the potential cost to the global economy, threatening Red Sea shipping and the flow of Saudi oil exports through the waterway, in what the source described as part of “Iranian thinking.”

Closing down the strait would not be difficult, the source said, adding: “Anybody with a firing rifle can interrupt the shipping. You don’t have to have sophisticated missiles to interrupt the shipping.”

Iran views the Houthis as part of its regional “Axis of Resistance,” an alliance that also includes Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Iraqi Shi’ite armed groups that have already joined the regional conflict between Tehran and Washington.

But the Houthi rebels have not formally entered the fray.

The United States says Iran has provided the Houthis with weapons, funding and training, including support channeled through Hezbollah. Tehran has denied the accusation.

Trump claimed that China wanted him to lose the 2020 election. 'I was wise to them, charged them billions and billions of dollars worth of tariffs,' Trump said of his first term.

He also announced the release of hundreds of previously classified files about US elections. Many of the files are heavily redacted.

Referencing newly declassified files, Trump said that some documents reveal 'that members of the deep state' worked to 'actively suppress and downplay information about the extent of China's sinister election rally.'

Despite all of his accusations lobbed against China, the President did not threaten any consequences. President Xi Jinping and his wife are still scheduled to travel to Washington, DC, for a state visit in September following Trump's trip to China in May.

Referring to another newly unclassified CIA report, Trump said the Nicolas Maduro regime developed methods to digitally alter vote totals in ways that could not be detected, even with an audit, no matter how deep they went.'

The 2021 report also claims that though ex-Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro may have wanted to sway US public opinion against Trump during the 2020 election, he lacked the ability to do so.

Included in the White House's document release was a mention about a Department of Homeland Security review that identified 'approximately 278,000 non-citizens who are registered to vote in federal elections.'

Though the number may be much higher since the administration alleges that Democrat-led states did not cooperate with the Trump administration and withheld their voter files.

The President has maintained for the better part of a decade that he won the 2020 election against Joe Biden.

Delivering his speech from the White House's East Room, the President was joined by a number of top Cabinet officials.

Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and more were in attendance, a picture posted by White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shows.

'The 2020 election was not stolen. We won, and he lost,' former Vice President Kamala Harris posted on X Thursday night.

The administration has been investigating the circumstances of Trump's 2020 loss, including the seizure of election records in Fulton County, Georgia, the hotly contested area around Atlanta.

Additionally, the White House unveiled alleged evidence recovered after a Michigan state police raid on voter registration fraud by Democrats in Muskegon.

The administration accuses Biden's DOJ of slow-walking an investigation into the matter and Trump has told the FBI to investigate.

The President's fresh allegations about the 2020 election had his MAGA supporters in an uproar about the alleged plot against the Republican.

Beyond the White House, a significant portion of Republicans believe the 2020 election was 'stolen.'

According to an April Reuters poll, nearly two in three Republicans (63 percent) agree that the 2020 contest was stolen from Trump via election fraud.

One in five (21 percent) independents agreed, while just 9 percent of Democrats also said the 2020 election was taken from Trump.

The speech comes amid the backdrop of the administration's efforts to have the Senate pass the SAVE America Act.

If passed, the measure implements election reforms such as requiring proof of US citizenship to register or update voter registrations for federal elections.

It also would mandate the removal of noncitizens from voter rolls and force states to check federal databases to see if voters are allowed to cast ballots.

The measure has passed the House but has been stalled in the Senate, where it would need 60 votes to pass, including support from a handful of Senate Democrats.

Critics say the bill establishes barriers preventing eligible voters from casting ballots, while proponents argue it secures the electoral process.

The White House announced the address on Monday but gave few details about what the special event would focus on.

The following day, the President teased, 'What we’re going to talk about Thursday, it doesn’t get bigger because without free and fair elections, you don’t have a country.'
