Drapatyi’s rise within the Ukrainian military has been entirely bound up with the NATO-backed war against Russia. His first major deployment came in 2014, after the coup in Kiev and the annexation of Crimea set off a civil war in East Ukraine.
As part of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation,” Drapatyi was sent to the Donbass to oversee the suppression of pro-Russian separatists.
After completing his studies at the National Defense University of Ukraine in 2021, he was awarded the “Transitional Sword of the Queen of Great Britain” for the best graduate.
In the following years, Drapatyi continued to climb up the military ladder. He served as deputy to the General Staff and as commander of Ukraine’s ground forces.
In this capacity, Drapatyi played a central role in the Ukrainian invasion of Russia’s Kursk region. The invasion ended in a military debacle, and Drapatyi was eventually forced to resign his post as Infantry Commander.
This part of his biography has been conveniently omitted in the Western coverage of Drapatyi. Nevertheless, his involvement is indicative of his alignment with those sections of Ukraine’s military and state apparatus that favor an aggressive development of military strikes, be it with drones or with ground troops, on civilian and energy infrastructure within the Russian Federation.
The strikes have targeted, in particular, oil refineries, triggering a severe fuel shortage in Russia, one of the world’s largest oil producers.
Earlier this week, the Russian government officially began importing oil to address the fuel shortages, which have forced thousands to wait in lines for fuel, for hours, sometimes even days.
Fedorov was also a key figure in the recent targeting of Crimea’s infrastructure, which has led to major blackouts and fuel shortages. Increasingly, these strikes also openly target civilian and general economic infrastructure.
Over the weekend, at least seven workers were killed and dozens injured in drone strikes on warehouses of Russia’s online retail giant Wildberries.
Many of the workers were trapped in the warehouse when it was hit by drones and set on fire. Wildberries, which functions much like Amazon, delivers household goods, clothing and other items to millions of households but also to Russian soldiers on the front lines.
In the two days since Drapatyi’s appointment, Ukraine has continued its strikes on targets within Russia.
On Wednesday, a drone hit yet another Wildberries warehouse. The pro-Western Russian outlet Meduza reported that 10 percent of Wildberries’ warehouse space, including the commodities stored there, have now been destroyed by Ukrainian drones.
In a rare admission of the impact of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russia’s economy, the Kremlin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov acknowledged, “The situation is indeed difficult because of the losses suffered both by the company [Wildberries] itself and by representatives of small- and medium-sized businesses” whose goods were destroyed.
The Kremlin has not released figures about the growing death toll of these strikes, but, based on Russian reports, it is likely that this year hundreds of civilians have been killed, if not more.
In the night from July 22 to July 23 alone, 18 regions in Russia were hit by drone strikes. At least two people died in drone attacks on Crimea; a 3-year-old was killed in the Voronezh region; and one man was killed in the Belgorod region.
Also on Wednesday, July 22, two people, including one young girl, died in a hospital in the Krasnodar region from injuries suffered during drone strikes.
In addition to the growing civilian death toll on the Russian side, Ukrainian drones are now also responsible for by far the largest share of Russian casualties on the battlefield.
Russia has responded with an intensification of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. On Thursday, Russia hit the port infrastructure and drone industry facilities in the city of Odessa.
The U.N. Human Rights Office has recorded 1,396 civilian deaths in Ukraine for the first six months of 2026, a 37 percent increase compared to the first half of 2025.

cap it now, thank anon latah
The vulnerabilities of modern robots (bipeds, quads, and drones) are often categorized as Cyber-Physical risks. Because these machines bridge the gap between abstract code and kinetic movement, a flaw in one layer (software) can have catastrophic consequences in the other (physical).
Here is a breakdown of their primary vulnerability vectors:
1. Communication & Network (The "Connection" Layer)
Almost all modern mobile robots are either semi-autonomous or teleoperated, relying on wireless links (WiFi, 5G/LTE, SatCom) for control, telemetry, and updates. This reliance creates a massive, exposed surface area.
• Signal Jamming & Blocking: Since these robots often navigate based on external data or operator input, intentional RF interference (jamming) can render a unit "blind" or cause it to enter an emergency safety hold (or, if improperly configured, a "return to base" loop that an attacker can predict).
• Spoofing & Man-in-the-Middle (MITM): An attacker can intercept the command stream between the operator and the robot. By injecting malicious packets, they can alter the robot’s perceived location or commands.
• GPS Spoofing: For drones and outdoor quadrupeds, the reliance on GNSS (GPS) is a critical single point of failure. Attackers can broadcast stronger "fake" satellite signals to trick the robot into thinking it is somewhere else, potentially steering it into a prohibited area or off a precipice.
• Default Credentials: Many industrial robots ship with default SSH or web-interface passwords. If these are connected to a network without being hardened, they become "low-hanging fruit" for unauthorized remote access.
2. Software & Control Systems (The "CPU" Layer)
The "brain" of the robot is usually running an OS like Linux, often utilizing frameworks like ROS (Robot Operating System).
• Framework Vulnerabilities: Standard robotics frameworks like ROS (especially older versions) were historically designed for research environments and lacked robust security by default. If the internal message-passing system is exposed, an attacker can "publish" false data to the robot’s sensors or "subscribe" to its control nodes, effectively hijacking its logic.
• Unauthenticated Ports: Many robots feature physical maintenance ports (USB, RJ-45) or open debug interfaces for developers. If a robot is physically accessed, these ports can be used to bypass software security, dump firmware, or inject malware.
• Supply Chain Attacks: Because robotics rely on global hardware and software components, a compromised dependency in a library (e.g., an vision-processing module or motor controller firmware) can be "baked in" to the robot before it even leaves the factory.
3. Physical & Sensory (The "Hardware" Layer)
This is where robotics differ from standard IT systems. The vulnerability is not just to data, but to the machine’s ability to "see" and "touch."
• Sensor Manipulation: Cameras, LiDAR, and ultrasonic sensors can be deceived.
◦ Lidar/Camera Spoofing: Attackers can use laser-projection or specific visual patterns to "blind" a robot or force it to misclassify an object (e.g., masking a hole in the ground so the robot perceives it as a flat surface).
• Calibration Tampering: Even if the software is secure, if someone physically modifies the robot's calibration (e.g., slightly offsetting a joint encoder or camera angle), the robot's "world model" will deviate from reality, causing navigation errors or erratic movement.
• Kinetic Risks: Unlike a hacked laptop that just leaks files, a hacked quadruped or biped can become a kinetic weapon. If an attacker gains control of the motor controllers, they can bypass safety limits to move at unsafe speeds or exert dangerous force.
Summary of Risk Profile
Vulnerability Vector
Typical Impact
Mitigation Strategy
Wireless/Radio
Loss of control, redirection
Encrypted VPN tunnels, frequency hopping
Software/Firmware
Remote takeover, data theft
Signing firmware, closing dev ports
Sensor/Perception
Navigation failure, "blindness"
Sensor fusion (cross-checking GPS/IMU/Vision)
Physical Access
Firmware extraction, hardware modification
Tamper-evident seals, encrypted storage
Engineering Perspective: If you are building or integrating these, the most robust defense is "Zero Trust" at the hardware level. Treat every sensor input as untrusted and ensure the robot has an "air-gapped" logic path for emergency safety stops that cannot be overridden by the primary (and potentially vulnerable) networking stack.

Technically speaking, the hardware capable of performing signal interference falls under the category of RF (Radio Frequency) Test and Measurement Equipment.
In legitimate engineering contexts—such as developing resilient robotics or testing drone communication protocols—engineers use this equipment in shielded, authorized environments (like Faraday cages) to ensure their devices can withstand noise or interference.
The Hardware Categories
These tools are essentially highly configurable radio transmitters designed for signal analysis and generation:
• Software Defined Radios (SDRs): These are the most common tools for security research. Devices like the HackRF, BladeRF, or LimeSDR allow a developer to control the entire radio stack via software. Because they are programmable, they can be configured to generate signals across a vast range of frequencies (from MHz to GHz), which covers the bands used by WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and common RC (radio control) links.
• RF Signal Generators: These are precision laboratory instruments used to create specific, modulated radio signals. An engineer uses them to "stress test" a receiver’s sensitivity or to calibrate the device’s ability to filter out noise.
• Power Amplifiers: Often paired with the above, these boost the transmission power to ensure the generated signal is strong enough to overwhelm a target receiver.
The Technical Mechanism
When these devices are used to disrupt a connection (interference), the mechanism is relatively straightforward:
1. Frequency Matching: The device is tuned to the specific carrier frequency of the target robot’s communication link (e.g., 2.4 GHz for standard WiFi/ISM bands).
2. Noise Injection/Overpowering: The device outputs a signal—either white noise or a specific signal that mimics the robot's control protocol—at a higher power or signal-to-noise ratio than the legitimate controller.
3. Reception Failure: The robot’s receiver becomes "saturated" or "deafened," unable to distinguish the actual command data from the interfering noise, triggering its fail-safe protocols.
A Critical Note on Legality
While these devices are essential for legitimate R&D and compliance testing, the operation of any device intended to jam, block, or interfere with authorized radio communications is strictly illegal in the United States and most other jurisdictions.
• FCC Enforcement: The FCC treats the operation, marketing, or sale of jamming equipment as a serious violation of the Communications Act of 1934. It is not legal to operate these devices in public spaces, even for "testing" purposes, because they often cause collateral damage to emergency services (e.g., 9-1-1 calls), aviation, and other critical infrastructure.
• Authorized Testing: If you are building robust systems, the standard professional approach is to conduct all RF resilience testing within shielded chambers or anechoic rooms. This allows you to perform the necessary security auditing without radiating signals that could disrupt legitimate communications outside your facility.
If you are working on the architectural side of robot security, focusing on sensor fusion (making the robot smarter than its individual sensors) and hardened, multi-link communication (using redundant protocols like LoRa alongside standard WiFi) is the standard approach to mitigating these physical-layer risks.

Trump’s new forced-labor tariffs met with bewilderment
US trading partners have rejected Washington’s rationale for new duties covering virtually all American imports
Published 24 Jul, 2026 13:23 |
Washington’s decision to impose sweeping new tariffs over alleged failures to combat forced labor has triggered protests and bewilderment among some of its largest trading partners.
The duties, which took effect on Friday, target goods from 60 economies that account for more than 99% of US imports. The EU, Australia, Brazil, Norway, Japan and China have all challenged the justification behind them.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas rejected Washington’s accusations as unfounded and claimed the bloc offered stronger protections for workers than the US. “We have paid vacations, we have very good labor conditions for our employees, so it’s not really grounded,” she said.
Kallas also claimed that European companies valued “predictability” and stressed that Brussels had honored its trade commitments to Washington. Her remarks come as the EU struggles with high energy prices and weakening industrial competitiveness after abandoning cheap Russian gas.
Australia called the tariffs “unjustified,” whileBrazil accused Washington of exploiting a human-rights issue to impose new trade restrictions. Norway said there was “no basis” for the measures, Japan defended its labor and trade standards, and China rejected the allegations along with unilateral tariffs.
The new duties range from 10% to 12.5% and replace a temporary 10% global tariff that expired on Friday. Countries that have adopted or pledged to enforce bans on forced-labor imports generally face the lower rate, while the others have been assigned 12.5%.
Oil, gas, fertilizer, certain food products, aircraft, critical minerals and goods already covered by separate US tariffs are exempt.
Defending the move, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer saidWashington had enforced a ban on forced-labor imports for nearly a century and argued that its trading partners should do the same. He said the tariffs aim to address “both a human rights abuse and distortive trade practice” and improve conditions for workers.
The Trump administration adopted the new measures after the US Supreme Court struck down the president’s earlier global tariffs imposed under emergency powers. Washington has now turned to a different trade law, arguing that weak enforcement abroad gives foreign producers an unfair advantage over American workers.
Critics have argued that the forced-labor rationale is primarilya way to rebuild Trump’s global tariff system on a firmer legal basis.
The immediate economic impact is expected to be limited because the duties largely replace the expired 10% rate. However, Washington is also pursuing a separate investigation into alleged industrial overcapacity involving 16 major trading partners, including the EU and China, which could lead to further tariffs.

US slaps 10% tariffs on India for forced labor
The rate is lower than the 12.5% proposed earlier after New Delhi amended its Foreign Trade Policy on June 14
The US has imposed 10% tariffs on imports from India, citing a forced-labor investigation, replacing the previous 150-day tariff that lapses on Friday.
The rate is lower than the 12.5% proposed earlier after New Delhi amended its Foreign Trade Policy on June 14. The latest tariffs put India on par with neighboring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, along with several Latin American and Asian economies.
India is seeking to ensure a competitive advantage over what is being paid by countries in the same stage of development, Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said in June, naming ASEAN nations and neighboring countries, including Bangladesh.
The US imposed a temporary 150-day 10% tariff in February on all of its trade partners. In March, the office of the US Trade Representative launched two separate investigations under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. ns
Indian industry bodies and government officials defended the country’s record on forced labor during the probe. India also amended its foreign trade policy earlier this month to prohibit importing goods made with forced labor, in a preemptive move aimed at lowering the proposed US tariff.
Though this is a relief for Indian exporters vis-à-vis regional competitors, additional concerns remain. Another probe into whether other countries are using excess manufacturing capacity to export to the US in a manner that is hurting the US economy is ongoing.

"USA Isn't A PiggyBank For Europe": Trump Launches Section 301 Probe Into EU Over Big Tech Fines
Summary:
Trump Opens Section 301 Investigation On Europe Over Big Tech Fines
Trump Slaps Forced-Labor Duties On 60 Countries
Trump Begins Rebuild Tariff Wall After Supreme Court Ruling Earlier This Year
Trump Says US Begins Section 301 Investigation on Europe
President Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US will launch a Section 301 investigation into the European Union for "robbing American companies, in turn, the American Taxpayer."
Trump said Brussels is using America as a "PIGGYBANK" by fining Big Tech companies billions and billions of dollars.
Trump listed the technology companies that have been fined a combined billions of dollars:
After having fined Apple, for no reason at all, 15 Billion Dollars, Meta, 3 Billion Dollars, Amazon 2.5 Billion Dollars, and many others, we have just been informed that Google, a truly advanced and amazing group, has been fined yet another 1 Billion Dollars, without explanation. This brings the Google total to over 18 Billion Dollars!
Trump continued:
This illegal and highly discriminatory practice started at these high levels during the first year of the Sleepy Joe Biden Administration, but it's not going to continue during the Trump Administration.
He added:
The United States of America is not a "PIGGYBANK" for Europe, nor will we allow it to be!
Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that we will immediately initiate a 301 Investigation into the practice of "ROBBING" American Companies and, in turn, the American Taxpayer.
The European Union will pay a very big price for this illegal and highly unethical conduct, which I have consistently warned them about.
The penalties will be entirely reversed and, we anticipate, a substantial TARIFF to be placed on them at the earliest possible moment.

Bangladesh president resigns
Mohammed Shahabuddin oversaw the country’s transition after the ouster of then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024
Bangladesh’s president, Mohammed Shahabuddin, has resigned, citing health issues. The speaker of the National Parliament will now become the country’s interim president until a new person is elected.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad confirmed Shahabuddin’s resignation at a press briefing on Friday evening. In his resignation letter submitted to the speaker, Shahabuddin said that he was suffering from several health conditions.
He said he was diagnosed with autonomic neuropathy and that he occasionally loses consciousness for brief periods as a result of this illness.
Reports said Shahabuddin received treatment at the Combined Military Hospital over the past two days.
Shahabuddin’s resignation comes much ahead of the official end of his tenure in April 2028. The president’s office in Bangladesh is largely ceremonial.
Shahabuddin, 76, was elected unopposed for a five-year term in 2023 as a nominee of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party.
The resignation assumes significance as Hasina has announced that she would return to Bangladesh in December.
In November 2025, a Bangladeshi court sentenced Hasina to death in absentia for her role in a violent crackdown on protesters that led to her ouster.
Shahabuddin, who remained in office after Hasina fled to India in August 2024, oversaw a transition that first saw a caretaker administration led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus.
Elections held this past February propelled Bangladesh National Party’s Tarique Rahman to power. Hasina’s Awami League, which is now banned, was not allowed to participate.
A Reuters report quoting three sources said that the Tarique Rahman government had pressed Shahabuddin to step aside because of his long-standing ties to Hasina.

Trump Treasury Cracks Down on Terror-Financing Network Linked to Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas.
The Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on a network of Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas operatives, exposing how front organizations and underground banks fund violent extremism.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Trump administration would continue pursuing those who finance terrorist groups, regardless of whether they operate under the guise of charitable or commercial activities. According to the department, Mahmoud al-Abyari, Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood General Secretariat, helped manage relationships with Hamas and raise funds for previously sanctioned organizations. Treasury also accused Indonesia-based Tujah Bulah Global, also known as Seven Spikes Global, Gaza-based Madad Palestine Charitable Society, and Turkey-based El-Kahira for General Trading of directing money to Hamas, while alleging El-Kahira also provided underground financial services to criminal organizations, including Sweden’s Foxtrot Network. The action is the latest in a series of Treasury sanctions aimed at disrupting Hamas’s financial operations.
“The Trump administration will relentlessly pursue terrorists and those who finance them,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “Those who enable Hamas will be exposed, sanctioned, and held accountable.”

Russia’s football exile is ending – but Europe may not survive the comeback 1/3
FIFA is ready to bring Russian teams back. The real battle won’t be on the pitch, but over money, politics, and boycotts.
Published 24 Jul, 2026 15:33
I didn’t watch a single full game of this FIFA World Cup and was asleep before the final kicked off on Sunday. It would have been awkward watching a match wanting both teams to lose. The best things to witness at this jamboree were the mindbending, moral amnesia of the anti-Trump and pro-Palestine mob, and the whining of sports media and pundits at the length of the half-time show. Even Granny grabber Wayne Rooney criticized the performance of a 70-year-old woman [Madonna]. Then again, who’d know better than the man who has a penchant for women twice his age. It was off the field that the best news, for many, came and it opened a way for Russian football to come in from the cold.
Background
Russian football had been under the US- and UK-led pogrom against Russian sports since 2010. Triggered by receiving the hosting rights for the FIFA 2018 World Cup, Russia got caught in the battle for control of the lucrative anti-doping industry. After a series of major doping scandals on their watch and their federal funding under threat, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) battled the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), using Russia as a convenient, and deserving, whipping boy.
From December 9, 2019, Russian national teams were not allowed to display the flag and badge in competition by WADA decree. Russian football fans were generally accepting and then the conflict in Ukraine escalated. I was live on air that night with Capital Sports and we were first to break the news of the UEFA and FIFA agreement with the Russian Football Union (RFU). I supported the freeze then and still do now. It was the safest thing to do and given the total lack of respect towards human life shown by Ukraine in recent months, as well as their US and European backers. I still err on the side of caution. Football stadia are too wide open for terror attacks, however, FIFA are for turning.
Coming in from the cold
Despite the difficulties facing Russian teams and athletes as bans and suspensions are gradually being lifted and teething problems being sorted, the most important sport in the world is strongly considering bringing Russia back.
By inviting Russia to take part in their inaugural under-15 World Cup, FIFA knew they were going to catch flak. In 2023, UEFA wanted to re-admit Russia’s under-17 boy’s and girl’s teams to continental competition, but the football associations of England, Ireland, Sweden, Romania, and Poland showed it a red card. The timing for the Irish announcement was telling, September 28, a little over a week before Israel began her brutal response to the October 7 Hamas terror attack. None of the aforementioned associations have refused to play Israel. Indeed, Ireland will play Israel twice this fall.
However, FIFA and UEFA are determined to normalize relations with Russia, and keep them in Europe, as a specter has returned to haunt the Europeans.
Upward and east
In July 2022, I completed a survey of 31 Asian football associations to gauge their feelings on accepting Russia as a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This was a follow up to one I carried out in March-April that same year. Within the space of a few months, there was a positive change. From eight of nine wanting Russia initially, 25 of 31 said ‘yes’ in the follow-up survey. And even the clause of cessation of hostilities in Ukraine showed a marked contrast. In July, only six of 31 believed that for Russia to play in Asia the conflict had to end, with a surprising 22 saying it didn’t matter. Asian nations wanted to welcome Russia to the club.

2/3
“There is an appetite for Russia to join [the AFC] and you get it from here (Thailand) to China to even Japan,” top sports marketing executive Marcus Luer told me last year. The CEO of Total Sports Asia was keen to point out that money would play a large part. “Of course, Russian companies would bring funds in to make Asian sports more attractive.”
Former General Secretary of the All-India Football Federation, Shaji Prabhakaran, echoed those sentiments in a discussion with me earlier this year.
“If Russian teams, clubs were to play here [Asia] the big local companies, in India for example, would come in and invest because it’s then national [pride].”
Russia’s Gazprom had been a major sponsor of UEFA and European competitions, Aeroflot were a partner of the biggest football club in the world, Manchester United, until February 2022, now that ‘easy money’ is needed.
What will happen?
Easing Russia back into the football family will begin with boy’s and girl’s youth competitions. Beach soccer and Futsal will come next, then women and teams. Men’s football, club and national team, will be a harder re-admittance. And there’s a simple reason why. Profile and security.
Nobody will be bothered, apart from the Baltic states, about Russia’s under-15 girl’s team playing their German counterparts. Nobody will care about the Russian Beach Soccer team rolling around on the sand in Italy or Georgia. They don’t matter because there isn’t the TV or fan interest, but in the UEFA Champions League or European Championship qualifiers…
“Security concerns alone are, God, terrifying,” a UEFA official said on condition of anonymity.“You’d find the majority of nations not just willing, but ok with Russian teams and clubs back. Though, apart from security and danger, there’s a bigger worry here [within UEFA].”
“Boycotts!”
This has been a bane of UEFA’s disciplinary committees and officials since 2022. The Baltic states of Estonia,Latvia, and Estonia have shown their ‘solidarity’ with Ukraine by refusing to allow their kids to play with kids from Belarus. Now before you get on your high horse, I admire them for this stance. And before you think of getting into the saddle to attack me, think. If more nations followed through on their morals and principles, wouldn’t that be better?
Ireland would refuse to play Israel in September and October, Iran and fellow Asian nations would have boycotted the 2026 World Cup over mistreatment. European nations would stay home due to the unprovoked bombing and assistance in said bombing by two of the hosts [US and Canada]. The world would be a better place because nations put sports at the same level as humanity and human well being.
“The boycotts would play havoc with organization,” the UEFA official noted, “which would then affect finance, media, TV, sponsors, everything.”
I asked, on our call, in his opinion would it only be the Baltic trio?
“Good God no, the Brits would carry on a treat. Poland, maybe. Ukraine, can you imagine Lokomotiv Moscow and Shakhtar Donetsk get drawn together? And for national teams, we’d have to have the Russia games behind closed doors in, Timbuktu.”
Russian off to…
I’m old enough to remember the 1985 Heysel Stadium disasterwhen ‘fans’ of Liverpool FC from England killed 39 fans of Italy’s Juventus FC.English clubs were banned indefinitely by UEFA, even if English national teams were allowed to continue play. The disgusting behaviour of English fans at the 1988 European Championship, where they rioted and rampaged across West Germany, did seem at odds with UEFA’s stance from 1985. And even after English fans, following their national team at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, ran amok in Italy, their clubs were allowed back into continental competition from 1990-91. Except for Liverpool FC, who served an additional year.

President Trump: Today we're celebrating a historic milestone for civilian nuclear industry, and the incredible renaissance of nuclear power in America...last year I signed four historic executive orders to reignite a wave of progress in America's nuclear power production, and promote this abundant, affordable, unlimited supply of energy for the American people. As part of this effort, I directed Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, to establish a pilot program for advanced reactors, and see at least three cutting-edge reactors started up by the Fourth of July, and what we've done has been pretty much of a miracle. Most believed the goal was impossible, but I'm delighted to say that four companies succeeded in meeting that deadline. Four of the greatest in the world at this subject. These are the first, new, privately-funded advanced reactors to turn on in the United States in over four decades.

Swiss politician who backed anti-pedophile bills charged with raping minor
Prosecutors allege that Patrick Frei systematically drugged and abused his partner and her underage daughter
Published 24 Jul, 2026 03:53 |
Swiss prosecutors have requested a life sentence for a right-wing politician who backed multiple child-protection bills and now faces charges including drugging and raping a minor.
Patrick Frei, formerly of the Swiss People’s Party, allegedly sedated a woman and her daughter, who was underage at the time, and systematically sexually abused them, according to a press release issued on Monday by the Aargau Public Prosecutor’s Office. The 57-year-old is also accused of drugging and raping another adult woman.
“The victims were repeatedly placed in an acutely life-threatening conditionby the administration of the substances, which could have caused them to suffocate at any time,” the press release said.
Because Frei allegedly “accepted the possible death of the victims,” he has also been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, prosecutors said.
The investigation was launched in 2023 afterthe girl’s mother reportedly caught the politician in the act and called the police. He was arrested shortly afterward and has remained in custody ever since. According to prosecutors,Frei left behind a trove of evidence, including pornographic videos and photographs documenting his alleged crimes.
The victims, a Polish mother and daughter, moved to Switzerland after living in Ireland, according to the Swiss news outlet Watson. The mother was Frei’s partner and worked for him under an employment contract that supported her residence permit. After his arrest, she lost her job and later applied for welfare.
The migration authorities questioned whether the employment arrangement was genuine and opened proceedings that could result in both victims being deported, Watson reported.
The daughter, now 18, “has lost faith in the authorities”. because of the abuse she suffered and the lack of support she received from Swiss institutions afterward, her lawyer told Swiss public broadcaster SRF on Wednesday.
The local migration office is continuing to review the case, Aargau State Councillor Dieter Egli told SRF.

Germany paying five times more for gas after ditching Russian imports – media
Long-term contracts with Moscow were not vulnerable to external shocks or market fluctuations, Berliner Zeitung has said
Published 23 Jul, 2026 21:23 |
Germany is paying five times as much for imported gas as it did before abandoning its long-term Russian supply contracts as part of the EU sanctions, Berliner Zeitung has reported.
Berlin now has to rely on the volatile international energy market, which is reeling from the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz during the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, the newspaper wrote on Wednesday.
Once Europe’s industrial powerhouse, Germany abandoned cheap Russian gas imports in 2022 as part of the EU’s sanctions campaign against Moscow following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.Combined with the phaseout of nuclear power in favor of renewables, this self-imposed embargo has dealt a major blow to Germany’s industrial sector.
Before the embargo, Russia supplied 55% of the country’s natural gas imports. Germany now sources its gas from Norway (44%), the Netherlands (24%), and Belgium (21%), with US liquefied natural gas (LNG) accounting for most of the remainder.
According to Berliner Zeitung, Germany’s gas import price has risen from €12 ($13.65) per megawatt-hour in 2020, when long-term contracts with Russia were still in force, to more than €60 ($68.25) this week amid the continued exchange of strikes between the US and Iran.
“The old Russian contracts were cheaper than the market price,” the media outlet said, adding that Germany would also be unable to increase gas imports if needed since “the pipelines from Norway are at their [full] capacity” and “cannot handle much more.”
The decision toabandon cheap Russian energy played a major role in slowing down the German economy. It contracted in both 2023 and 2024, the first back-to-back annual decline in more than two decades, and is forecast to grow by just 0.5% this year. Corporate insolvencies also rose by more than 22% in each of those years, according to official data.
On Monday, Chancellor Friedrich Merz acknowledged that the energy crisis was caused by “the lack of Russian gas.”
Moscow has said it is ready to resume gas deliveries through the Nord Stream pipeline string that survived the 2022 sabotage attack but has received no response from Berlin.
Germany plans to impose new tariffs on its already struggling industrial sector to fund the construction of a national gas reserve.
The EU also pledged to end all Russian gas imports by 2027, with EuropeanCommission President Ursula von der Leyen stating in March that Brussels would stick to this course even in the event of physical gas shortages or the threat of power cuts.
(The EU and countries are willing to bankrupt their countries, for Ukraine, then to pay significantly less money for Russia gas etc. To sustain their countries. The EU is bankrupting these countries only because of politics. And to feed the vampire of Ukraine!)

Republican Kurt Alme is a terrific candidate for the U.S. Senate in the Wonderful State of Montana, which I love and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He loves the U.S.A., and is a truly Great American Patriot! Kurt is running against a Radical Left Democrat named Alani Bankhead, who loves High Taxes, Open Borders, No Consequences for Violent Criminals, Men in Women’s Sports, and Transgender for Everybody, among other CRAZY ideas!
Kurt is one of the Strongest, and most Conservative, Republican Candidates in the Country, whereas his Opponent, Alani Bankhead, is a Radical Left Extremist, who will put our Country, and Safety, LAST. Kurt, on the other hand, will ALWAYS put Montana, and America, FIRST. Alani Bankhead is a Radical Left LUNATIC Dumocrat, whose values are not those of the people of Montana, or the United States of America — But the good news is that Kurt Alme is the PATRIOT that everyone is looking for, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement — KURT WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!

President Trump Notes Europe’s Refusal to Accept Elimination of Marshall Plan – New EU Scheme to Fine U.S. Tech Companies 1/2
July 24, 2026 | Sundance |
Most casualEU observers have missed the connection between President Trump eliminating the U.S-Europe Marshall Plan via entirely new trade and tariff policies, and the aggregate financial collapse of the European Union.
Over four years (1948-1952), the United States provided $13.3 billion (equivalent to approximately $137 billion in 2025) directly to 17 Western European countries, including the United Kingdom, France, West Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The intent was to rebuild Europe after World War II.
However, included in theplan was a later system of one-way tariffs, where EU Countries would high-tariff U.S. goods andthe U.S. would not tariff EU goods imported.
The direct funding ended in 1952,but the indirect funding via tariffs never ended until President Donald J Trump triggered reciprocal tariffsagainst Europethereby removing the one-way benefit. This created an immediate and growing problem for Europe – particularly noted in the EU industrial base.

Simultaneous to this EU tariff reset, PresidentTrump levied tariffs against China. To offset the possibility of economic losses, and specifically to fund Beijing’s subsidies to impacted Chinese manufacturing,China stopped purchasing European industrial machines. [That’s the source of the picture above at the G7 in Canada]
This trade and tariff approach hit Europe twice as hard. First from American tariffs and second from diminished Chinese industrial purchasing.Immediately, Europe started looking for alternate sources of funds. That’s where the idea to tax American tech companies entered the discussion in Brussels. Today, President Trump addressed this directly.

• TRUTH SOCIAL – “The European Union is at it again and, as usual, taking direct aim at GREAT American Companies!
•This illegal and highly discriminatory practice started at these high levels during the first year of the Sleepy Joe Biden Administration, but it’s not going to continue during the Trump Administration. The United States of America is not a “PIGGYBANK” for Europe, nor will we allow it to be! Please let this TRUTH serve to represent thatwe will immediately initiate a 301 Investigation into the practice of “ROBBING” American Companiesand, in turn, the American Taxpayer.
•The European Union will pay a very big price for this illegal and highly unethical conduct, which I have consistently warned them about. The penalties will be entirely reversed and,we anticipate, a substantial TARIFF to be placed on them at the earliest possible moment. Stay tuned!”
~President DONALD J. TRUMP
Keep in mind, all of this EU regulatory and compliance control is at the forefront of another element, the AI race.
In the USA we do not want a singular AI model to win support of the United States government and then end up with an AI regulatory system where the govt can start defining terms of “safety” to eliminate information adverse to the interests that regulate it.However, we can almost guarantee that Europe will select an approved singular AI model, predictably regulating it and taxing the use of it accordingly.

What blows my mind is the EU have lost each time on tariffs but they think they can outfox Trump. It’s bizarre arrogance
