RUSH: Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook was on Fox yesterday afternoon. He was on the Dana Perino show, and he said that he disagreed with Twitter fact-checking President Trump. He said, “We have a different policy, I think, than Twitter on this. So I just believe strongly Facebook should not be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online.

“I think in general private companies probably shouldn’t be in the position of doing that.” But Facebook fact-checks too. Facebook even has a page that explains how their fact-check system works, and Facebook exiles people they don’t like. They even label them as “haters.” Facebook has put mainstream conservatives like Candace Owens on a hate agent’s review list.

When Zuckerberg says this stuff, nobody points this kind of thing out to him. Now, of course, he’s taking the occasion of disagreeing with Dorsey. And, folks, I want to tell you again: A lot of people are picking up on a point that I shared with you yesterday that Marco Rubio made, and that is that Twitter may have seriously stepped in it by doing this, because they have crossed the boundary line now from simply providing a service to being a content provider.

When they do that, they open themselves up to liability. It’s one thing for Twitter to just be an empty vessel and all of its content be determined by what its users say, but not of what Twitter itself says. But if they’re gonna introduce fact-checking, that means they are going to be responsible for content on the site, and that opens them up to liability.

There’s a piece that ran at Hot Air today. “Twitter Is Digging Its Own Grave,” ’cause once they start tagging some tweets and not others with “what you need to know” or “fact checks,” then they’re gonna be staking out partisan positions — and that’s exactly what they’ve done with Trump. They are staking out a partisan position, and it’s gonna cause them big trouble because some lawyers are gonna spot this as a grand opening to go after ’em to make them liable.

Pope Francis Reveals Catholic Priests Used Nuns As Sex Slaves

Pope Francis' statements come after a report was released last week by a Vatican women's magazine which detailed nuns forced to abort priests' children.

In a historical first, the Roman Catholic Church has not only acknowledged the sexual abuse of nuns on behalf of its own clergy, but detailed how nuns were used as sex slaves by priests and bishops alike.

Pope Francis said on Tuesday that he was devoted to ending the rampant issue: “We have been working on this for a long time. We have suspended some priests because of this.”

The unusual transparency came in response to a reporter’s questions about an article published by Women’s Church World, the Vatican’s women’s magazine, which exposed this sexual abuse by clerics — and described the abortions these nuns would have to undergo, or the difficulties of giving birth to children fathered by priests.

“It is true … there have been priests and even bishops who have done this. I think it is still going on because something does not stop just because you have become aware of it,” Pope Francis conceded.

Last week’s Vatican magazine article claimed priests operating in Africa specifically used nuns for sex because they were deemed physiologically safe in the face of the continent’s AIDS crisis. The article also gave nuns in India and Chile a chance to detail their experiences with clerical sexual abuse.

The growing spotlight on the church is twofold: the willingness to speak up in the era of the #MeToo movement, and subsequently, the extensive investigations into the church’s sex crimes.

The Associated Press published its thoroughly researched findings into these allegations last year and found that the sexual abuse of nuns by clergy was “global and pervasive.”

The BBC reported that one bishop in India, for instance, was arrested last year over allegations that he had raped a nun 13 times between 2014 and 2016. A Vatican investigation into similar reports from Chile resulted in the women removed from the order.

This global system of abuse has reportedly become so insidious that church leaders either allow it to continue in the face of complicity or exasperation or dissolve entire congregations irrevocably affected by it. Pope Francis himself mentioned his predecessor, Benedict XVI, as a prime example of the latter.

Benedict XVI reportedly dissolved an entire religious order of nuns in 2005 “because a certain slavery of woman had crept in, slavery to the point of sexual slavery on the part of the clergy or the founder.” A Vatican spokesperson later reported that this instance referred to the Contemplative Sisters of Saint-Jean, a small group in France.

Congress Is Poised to Pass Far-reaching Israeli Wish List

Congress is set to pass its most far-reaching bill related to Israel at the height of a national public health emergency.

With the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s passage of the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2020 last week, the current Congress is now poised to enact with little transparency its most far-reaching bill related to Israel at the height of a national public health emergency.

According to Lara Friedman, President of the Foundation for Middle East Peace (FMEP), the committee vote took place “without even bothering with a pretense of public discussion” and was especially egregious because the committee voted on a wholly new version of the bill which “was not made public until long after the hearing ended.”

The opacity of the committee’s vote on the bill was even more shocking considering its importance.

Ostensibly the main purpose of the bill, S.3176, is to codify in law the levels of military aid and funding for missile defense agreed to by the United States and Israel in a 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This MOU, pledging a record-breaking $38 billion for Israel between 2019 and 2028, solidified President Obama’s legacy as the president most munificent to Israel.

However, a presidential pledge of weapons to Israel does not automatically result in their delivery. According to the constitution, Congress passes spending bills, and funds first need to be authorized and then appropriated before they can be obligated and expended by the president.

If passed, S.3176 would authorize Congress to appropriate funds for the remaining budgetary years of the MOU. However, if that were the sole purpose of the bill, it merely would be an inconsequential act of grandstanding since it is inconceivable that Congress would fail to appropriate the funds as scheduled every year.

Instead, the real purpose of the bill is to potentially boost military aid to Israel even higher and further enmesh the US-Israeli relationship in various military and economic fields.

According to the MOU, $3.3 billion per year in foreign military financing (FMF) and $500 million in missile defense was supposed to have served as a very generous ceiling for US aid. Both sides committed to “respect the FMF levels specified in this MOU, and not to seek changes to the FMF levels for the duration of this understanding.”

S.3176 would authorize $3.3 billion annually in FMF not as a ceiling, as negotiated by the Obama administration, but as a floor. The bill seeks to do so surreptitiously by amending existing statutory authorization for military aid to Israel by replacing an amount “equal to” with “not less than” $3.3 billion annually.

Ukraine’s Zelenskyy Pivots Back to Peace Talks With Russia’s Putin

KYIV, Ukraine—As Ukraine’s coronavirus lockdown incrementally winds down, Kyiv is pivoting its focus back to ending the war in the eastern Donbas region, where Ukrainian troops have held a Russian invasion force at bay since spring 2014.

At a press conference last week to mark his first year in office, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made it clear that, with the pandemic under control inside Ukraine, he is open to holding direct peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“There are some things you can understand only when you are one on one,” Zelenskyy said. “There are some answers to what you can do and want, and it is better to hear them when you are one on one, to draw crystal clear conclusions and proceed with another plan—plan B.”

With a population 3.4 times that of Ukraine’s, Russia has more than 16 times the number of Ukraine’s total 20,148 reported COVID-19 cases.

Russia had reported a total of 326,448 COVID-19 cases as of May 22. Putin has taken a hit in his popularity among the Russian people due to his government’s management of the coronavirus crisis.

Many in Russia believe Moscow is hiding the true toll of the pandemic, underreporting the numbers of infections and deaths.

In 2014, the United States and the European Union levied punitive economic sanctions on Moscow for its aggression in Ukraine. Now, Russia is facing an additional economic pinch as American liquefied natural gas and oil deliveries ramp up in Central and Eastern Europe, reducing Russia’s share of the market.

Thus, on top of the global drop in oil prices and fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, many say Russia’s economy is facing a crisis. And some say that economic pressure ultimately could spur Putin to the negotiating table with Zelenskyy.

“Against such a background, a new round of negotiations would make sense, as the Kremlin may be more willing to compromise under the currently increasing socio-economic pressure,” said Andreas Umland, senior expert at the Ukrainian Institute for the Future.

“If one assumes more or less rational calculations in the Kremlin, then ending the EU’s Donbas-related sanctions could be higher on the agenda today than before the corona crisis,” Umland told The Daily Signal.

New Study Links Brain Tumors to Power Lines Exposure

It may seem like warnings have only been cited about the many health risks associated with exposure to sources of wireless radiation (i.e. 5G, Bluetooth, cell phone and WiFi radiation). However, there have been warnings about exposure risks from additional sources of Electromagnetic Radiation (aka “Electrosmog”) for many years as well. This includes power lines.

Thanks to Environmental Health Trust for reporting about a new study that determined a link between power lines and brain tumors, as well as including additional research that proves harm from exposure.

The journal Environmental Research has published a new study entitled “Residential proximity to power lines and risk of brain tumor in the general population” which found an increased risk of brain tumors was associated with living near power lines. Powerlines are a source of residential exposure to magnetic field electromagnetic radiation (EMF) and repeated research studies for decades have associated magnetic field power-line frequency ELF-EMF from power lines to a type of childhood leukemia.

In 2001 the International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded that exposure to power-line frequency ELF-EMF is a “possible” human carcinogen- a decision based largely evidence of an increased risk for childhood leukemias with residential exposure .

Kaiser Permanente researchers have published several studies linking pregnant women’s exposure to magnetic field electromagnetic fields to not only increased miscarriage and but also increased ADHD, obesity and asthma in the woman’s prenatally exposed children.

Two published studies by the Ramazzini Institute “Carcinogenic Synergism of S-50 Hz MF Plus Formaldehyde in Rats” (2016) and “Life-span exposure to sinusoidal-50 Hz magnetic field and acute low-dose γ radiation induce carcinogenic effects in Sprague-Dawley rats” (2016) found that ELF exposed rats had statistically significant increased incidence of several type of malignant tumors when combined with a known carcinogen.

Over a dozen countries already have some level of protective policy in place regarding this type of electromagnetic radiation. The countries of Croatia, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Belgium (Wallonia, Flanders) Denmark, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Lithuania, Poland have a magnetic field radiation limit for “sensitive areas” far far lower than ICNIRP. Sensitive areas are generally defined as areas where children live and play such as schools, kindergartens or recreation areas. Sometimes the definition includes hospitals and residential areas. These countries’ magnetic field EMF limits are 3 or 4 milligauss, the level of milligauss associated with childhood leukemia in repeated published studies. However ICNIRP recommends a residential magnetic field exposure limit of 2,000 milligauss (mG) and an occupational exposure limit of 10,000 mG.

The United States has no limit on legal levels of milligauss electromagnetic radiation. However the California Department of Education enacted a regulation to require minimum distances between new schools and the edge of a transmission line “right-of-way.”

In this study, ELF-MF exposure was estimated from power line location and exposure to power lines was assessed by a lifetime geographical index.

Michelle Obama: ‘I’m Exhausted By A Heartbreak That Never Seems To Stop’

Former first lady Michelle Obama said it was “up to all of us — Black, white, everyone” to root out racism as she responded on social media to the death of George Floyd.

Obama revealed in an Instagram post on Friday that she was “pained “and “exhausted by a heartbreak that never seems to stop,” noting how “race and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with.”

“Right now it’s George, Breonna, and Ahmaud. Before that it was Eric, Sandra, and Michael. It just goes on, and on, and on,” she wrote.

“But if we ever hope to move past it, it can’t just be on people of color to deal with it,” Obama continued. “It’s up to all of us — Black, white, everyone — no matter how well-meaning we think we might be, to do the honest, uncomfortable work of rooting it out.”

Obama said it “starts with self-examination and listening to those whose lives are different from our own” and “ends with justice, compassion, and empathy that manifests in our lives and on our streets.”

“I pray we all have the strength for that journey, just as I pray for the souls and the families of those who were taken from us,” Obama concluded the post, which featured illustrations by artist Nikkolas Smith.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - Local elections will be held in Missouri next Tuesday and Governor Mike Parson says he hopes people will feel safe to vote. But if you don't feel safe, he says, don't go out and vote.

As the state does not allow absentee "no-excuse" voting, so most Missouri voters are only eligible to cast a vote in-person.

"I hope people feel safe to go out and vote, but if they don’t, their safety should be No. 1," Parson said in his press conference on Thursday. "If they don’t, then 'don’t go out and vote."

There's a bill awaiting Parson's signature that could allow anyone to vote by mail, but it can only be in place soon enough to apply to the August primary and November presidential elections. Parson said on Friday morning he plans to make a decision on that legislation sometime next week.

The election on June 2 was moved from the original April 7 date due to the coronavirus pandemic. There won't be an election in St. Louis City.

Parson did stress that he hopes everyone feels safe enough to vote on Tuesday and said voting is "one of the most important things you can do."

"I would never insinuate people shouldn't go vote," Parson says. "But I would never tell anyone to put yourselves in harm's way if they really felt that way about going out."

MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. The residence permit of former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who is staying in Russia, has been automatically extended until July 15 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and Russia’s measures to curb the infection, a law enforcement source told TASS.

Snowden’s residence permit expired on April 30. He submitted all documents for its extension in mid-March. In late March, the Russian Interior Ministry decided to automatically extend residence permits for all holders.

"Due to anti-coronavirus measures, Snowden, just like all other residence permit holders, had this document automatically extended until June 15. Therefore, his residence permit remains valid. Later, a decision will be made about whether it should be extended by three more years upon Snowden’s request and in line with the current legislation," the source said.

Meanwhile, Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told TASS that his client stays in home and observes the self-isolation regime.

"There is nothing we can say as long as self-isolation remains in place. We are all staying home," he said.

In 2013, Snowden leaked information on the methods of electronic surveillance by US intelligence services, including illegally wiretapping foreign leaders. Fleeing from prosecution, Snowden sent requests for asylum to some countries, including Russia. On August 1, 2014, he received a Russian residence permit valid for three years, which was later extended for another three years. In February, Kucherena announced that Snowden’s residence permit in Russia would expire in April and the paperwork was underway to extend it. On April 16, he said the request had been filed.

In the United States, Snowden is charged with two counts of violating the Espionage Act. He may face up to ten years in prison on each of the counts. The US authorities have repeatedly stated that they consider Snowden a traitor who caused grave damage to national security.

President Trump’s battle with Twitter intensified on Friday, sparking new debates around the combustible themes of race, policing and protest.

Trump has been accused of inciting violence. The president has suggested that he would like to shut Twitter down if he could.

The question is where the row might go next, given the conflicting dynamics at play.

Twitter enables Trump to go around the traditional media and communicate directly with his 80 million followers — even as he fulminates about alleged bias in Silicon Valley.

Twitter benefits from the news Trump makes on its platform and the engagement he drives — even as it has come under increasing pressure to police his misstatements more forcefully.

The most explosive moment yet came in the early hours of Friday, as unrest flared in Minneapolis following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd at the hands of police earlier in the week.

Shortly before 1 a.m. — with a police precinct evacuated and ablaze —Trump tweeted that protesters were “THUGS,” a term that has come to be seen as racially loaded. Trump said that the federal government was willing to help restore order and then added, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Those words sparked immediate backlash and were widely seen as a threat of violence against protesters. The phrase appears to have its provenance in comments made by a hardline Miami police chief in the late 1960s in reference to upheaval in black neighborhoods.

Trump has since insisted that this is not what he meant. In a Friday afternoon tweet, he said “looting leads to shooting…and that’s what the expression put out last night means.”

By then, however, Twitter had appended a warning to the original tweet, stating that it violated the platform’s rules against “glorifying violence.”

This followed on from an earlier fracas, when Twitter added a fact-check to a Trump tweet alleging that voting by mail would lead to widespread fraud.

The action — the first of its kind, despite the many previous Trump Twitter controversies — sparked a furious counterblast from the president, including the release of a new executive order on Thursday. Unveiling that order at the White House, Trump said of Twitter that he would like to “shut it down” if he deemed the company to have behaved dishonorably.

Virtually no-one believes a president has the power to shut down a company over the kind of issue that is the focus of Trump’s complaints. But his actions — and Twitter’s reactions — have created a deepening maelstrom.

Even some right-of-center voices worry that Trump’s proposed actions could be counterproductive.

George Floyd was deliberately murdered, right on schedule to unleash race riots across America to cause even more chaos

After reviewing the videos surrounding the arrest and killing of George Floyd, it’s clear to me that he was deliberately murdered. I understand there are different interpretations of what happened, and new evidence may emerge that will alter my view, but based on what I’ve seen so far, it seems abundantly clear that Mr. Floyd was deliberately murdered in broad daylight.

As I know very well due to my many years of training alongside law enforcement and military veterans, police officers are specifically trained to avoid pushing their body weight, through their knee, onto a suspect’s throat or neck for the simple reason that doing so causes severe injury or death. Any police officer that deliberately places their knee (and hence, their body weight) on the neck of a suspect who is pinned against the ground is doing so out of a premeditated desire to cause death.

The question isn’t whether George Floyd was murdered — he clearly was — the real question is why he was murdered.

Put another way, who benefits from the death of George Floyd?

The answer, of course, is that the forces of chaos and destruction (i.e. anti-American, anti-Trump) benefit from his murder. The more chaos and destruction is unleashed during this election year, the more the media hypes up the disaster and assigns blame to President Trump. Logically, it’s absurd, since President Trump had nothing to do with the murder of George Floyd. But emotionally, the media propaganda messaging whips up fear, anger and frustration — emotions that will largely be translated into anti-Trump sentiment in the coming elections.

This comes on the heels of Joe Biden telling a black interview host, “You ain’t black” if you don’t vote for me. The black community was rightfully outraged. Democrats experienced a wave of horror in old “crazy Joe’s” comments, realizing that if they didn’t do something to get the black vote to swing back to their side, many black Americans would vote for Trump, who isn’t someone who talks condescendingly to the black community (like Biden just did).

Military Could Deploy Troops to Minneapolis 'Very Quickly', Trump Says

Some active-duty US military police officers have reportedly been ordered by the military to prepare to deploy if local authorities request their assistance.

The Pentagon has announced an increase of alert status of some US military units in order to potentially support Minnesota which currently struggled with civil unrest.

The announcement comes as US President Donald Trump said that the military could "very quickly" deploy troops to Minneapolis to respond to the ongoing protests that were sparked by the death of an African-American man named George Floyd.

"We have our military willing, ready and able... We can have our troops on the ground very quickly if they want our military. They are using their National Guard right now," Trump said.

One US official said on condition of anonymity that some active-duty military police officers have already been ordered by the military to prepare to deploy if local authorities ask for their help, Reuters notes.

The Pentagon further noted that some US military units are now on four-hour recall status, though Minnesota governor apparently hasn't yet sent a request for the support of US military troops.

Trump also berated the "radical left", accusing them of staging the riots in question.

"These people are antifa, there is a lot of radical left, bad people and they've got to be taught that you cannot do this," he declared

Earlier, Trump reportedly asked Secretary of Defence Mark Esper for rapid deployment options in case the situation in Minneapolis goes out of control.

How the Protests Started

George Floyd died in police custody after being pinned to the ground and handcuffed by police officers who arrived in response to a call from a grocery store claiming Floyd had tried to pay for his purchase with an allegedly counterfeit banknote.

One of the officers involved in the incident had held a knee to the neck of Floyd, who was saying "I can't breathe" multiple times but was ignored by police.

A wave of protests erupted in Minneapolis after the footage of the incident went viral, to which police responded with tear gas and non-lethal ammunition, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ended up calling in the National Guard to help deal with the unrest.

By 30 May, however, Walz said that he didn't have enough troops, and that he is moving to mobilize over a thousand additional National Guard members, for a total of 1,700, adding that he was considering the potential offer of federal military police.

Sixty suspected looters were detained in a protest that quickly devolved in Oakland Friday night, as demonstrators smashed windows and set fires inside buildings in a show of outrage about the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

It was not the first time downtown Oakland has become a central stage for an anguished national debate about police violence against African Americans. But Friday’s protest flared against the backdrop of a pandemic, a severe economic downturn and collective anxiety from Bay Area residents who have spent weeks pent up in their homes.

Oakland police made 18 arrests, according to a preliminary report the department released at 5 a.m. It said that six Oakland officers were injured, along with seven from outside agencies. Those agencies made four additional arrests.

One person was cited, and one vehicle was towed, according to the report.

The chaotic events coincided with a shooting at the Ronald V. Dellums federal building downtown that left one contract security officer dead, and another wounded. It’s unclear whether the two events are related.

Friday’s demonstration began peacefully, as law enforcement tried to “provide safe ... and respectful spaces for our demonstrators,” Police Chief Susan Manheimer said in a video posted on Twitter.

She then pleaded for protesters who “come to Oakland and stand with us” to refrain from trashing downtown and vandalizing businesses that have suffered since the pandemic began.

The city has long been a hub for protests that often leave severe damage on the downtown core and nearby Auto Row. Merchants and city politicians widely perceive the trouble as coming from outside agitators who pour in from other cities.

Trump signs the Never Again Education Act into law

The law expands the US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s (USHMM) educational mission to include teachers across the country.

US President Donald Trump signed the Never Again Education Act into law on Thursday, JNS reported, expanding the funding and educational mission of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM).

The bill requires the USHMM to create educational materials with the intention of increasing awareness about the Holocaust and its meaning among teachers across the country. For this purpose, $2 million will be awarded to the USHMM Holocaust Education Assistance Program Fund annually by the US Treasury from 2020 to 2024.

Additionally, an online data-bank with educational materials meant to teach middle school and high school level students about the Holocaust will be created to help teachers tackle the issue. The data-bank will also be created by the USHMM.

Sen. Jacky Rosen called the bill a “first step in centralizing a good quality and authentic curriculum to teach the Holocaust to future generations," the Jewish Insider reported.

The curious case of the SF doctor who’s been coronavirus-positive nearly 90 days and counting

Dr. Coleen Kivlahan knew what the result of her coronavirus test would be the moment she stepped outside her San Francisco home and sensed she was smelling a forest fire, a symptom that can accompany loss of smell.

Then that persistent cough kicked in. Those are two of the lasting symptoms. So it was no surprise that she tested positive on Wednesday. The surprise was that it had been at least 85 days that she has been infected with the coronavirus and 62 days since she first tested positive. That she is both alive and still has symptoms may be some kind of record for longevity for suffering the disease without hospitalization.

“I belong to the very small club of persistent positives,” said Kivlahan, who is executive medical director for all primary care at UC San Francisco. She has seen some 60 UCSF colleagues come down with the coronavirus, almost all going through a miserable few weeks and then test negative and be allowed to return to work.

For Kivlahan, the worst of the symptoms are over. She narrowly avoided hospitalization and the dreaded intubation. She is able to get out of bed and even enjoy the luxury of walking up a flight of stairs. But she has lived essentially in isolation with her husband at their home in Crocker-Amazon since March 6, 10 days before the citywide shelter-in-place order, and has no idea when it will end.

“We don’t know why I am persistently positive and when I am going to turn negative,” she said in a phone interview following her test on Wednesday. “I’m anxious to join the world again.”

Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease specialist at UCSF, does not know Kivlahan and is unfamiliar with her case. But this is the first time he has heard of a patient still testing positive for the coronavirus nearly three months after infection. Within eight days of the onset of symptoms, the virus is normally dead.

“I would be shocked if that is live virus,” he said of Kivlahan’s positive test this week. “My gut sense is that it is persistent fragments of the virus. This patient may be the exception, but no one really knows.”

Chin-Hong said there are not enough data yet on COVID-19 survivors, but with other viruses there have been survivors who develop chronic symptoms like the ones Kivlahan cannot shake.

“This is a club,” she says, “that I don’t want to be in.”

Kivlahan, who is 66 and in otherwise excellent health, is not sure when she joined the club. It was either Feb. 25 or March 3, the last two days she took time away from her administrative and faculty duties to work in the urgent care clinic at UCSF Parnassus.

George Floyd died from a drug overdose not from the knee of Officer Derek Chauvin, who followed proper police procedure.

1. A clerk in the Cup Foods store called the police on George Floyd.

2. Mr. Floyd paid for goods with photocopies of $20 bills.

3. Mr. Floyd was acting erratic, inebriated, and obviously under the overwhelming influence of drugs.

4. The clerk called the police to report the counterfeit bills and to prevent Mr. Floyd from hurting himself or others due to his inebriated state.

5. Police also saw he was extremely drugged out. While standing up next to the squad car, it worsened. Mr. Floyd became confused and agitated, with ever more erratic behavior. He said he was having trouble breathing (while standing upright). He called out for his "Mama", an indication of a sense of impending doom, which often precedes death.

6. Mr. Floyd went into "excited delirium" a medical condition that precedes death.

7. In an "excited delirium", people can scream, run wildly into oncoming cars, thrash around, fall over, and so forth.

8. If the "excited delerium" state is recognized, police are trained to put the person in a "body wrap", where four or more officers grab around all parts of his body, pick him up, lay him on the ground, restrain him, until an ambulance arrives. This way he will not hurt himself or others.

9. Witnesses say they heard the police mention excited delirium before and after they took Mr. Floyd down with the body wrap procedure.

10. Police training videos (see links below) teach that *half* of the time they encounter a person with excited delirium, that person will die on the scene before getting to a hospital. So be prepared for that.

11. Videos show clearly that Officer Chaupin's knee was on the side of the neck and not the windpipe. Mr. Floyd's head was in an optimal position for good breathing through a clear airway (tilted up and to the side slightly). Officer Chaupin's knee did not obstruct Mr. Floyd's airway. There was no weight on Mr. Floyd's torso to prevent normal respiration. The restraint position was correct.

12. The surrounding crowd did not have a clue about what was transpiring before their eyes, and so jumped to the wrong conclusions.

13. The initial autopsy report said there were no sign of suffocation or asphyxiation. Police coverup? Nope. the many videos prove no blockage of airway so this autopsy report would is expected.

"Officer Chauvin performed exemplary under difficult circumstances, protecting Mr. Floyd and others from possible harm, and will eventually be exonerated."

Pew: Democrats Represent 41 Of 44 Districts With Highest COVID-19 Death Tolls

Pew Research Center is out with an analysis of coronavirus deaths. It shows they are overwhelmingly concentrated in Congressional districts represented by Democrats.

Democrats represent 41 of 44 districts with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths.

The coronavirus outbreak has taken the lives of nearly 100,000 Americans. Yet since the start of the outbreak, the death toll has been concentrated in a just a few places – mostly large metropolitan areas, especially the New York City area.

The places hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak – which have relatively large shares of ethnic and racial minorities and residents living in densely populated urban and suburban areas – are almost all represented by congressional Democrats.

A new Pew Research Center analysis of data on official reports of COVID-19 deaths, collected by the John Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering, finds that, as of last week, nearly a quarter of all the deaths in the United States attributed to the coronavirus have been in just 12 congressional districts – all located in New York City and represented by Democrats in Congress. Of the more than 92,000 Americans who had died of COVID-19 as of May 20 (the date that the data in this analysis was collected), nearly 75,000 were in Democratic congressional districts.

Of the 44 hardest-hit congressional districts – the top 10% in terms of deaths – 41 are represented by Democrats, while three are represented by Republicans. These include the New York-area districts, as well as those in the Boston, Detroit and New Orleans metropolitan areas. The average death toll in each of these hardest-hit districts was 1,122 as of May 20.

The next 100 hardest-hit districts, which represent the remainder of the top third of districts, with an average of 270 deaths, also are disproportionately represented by Democrats: 75 are represented by Democrats, 25 by Republicans.

About two-thirds (68%) of the 44 least affected districts – the bottom 10%, with an average 13 deaths in each district – are represented by Republicans in Congress.

Note: Pew finds there are differences in death rates in terms of race but not poverty level.

Mossad Chief Cohen Flew To Egypt for Secret Talks, Report Says

Egypt became the first Arab country to establish relations with Israel in 1979, with the two countries engaging in security cooperation in Sinai, and Cairo occasionally helping to mediate between the Israel and the Palestinians.

Mossad chief Yossi Cohen paid a secret visit to Egypt earlier this week and met with high-ranking Egyptian officials, The New Arab has reported, citing sources close to the Egyptian government.

Abbas Kamel, chief of Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate, was said to have taken part in the meeting, as did Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

Cohen’s trip is said to be connected to Israel’s plans to ‘apply sovereignty’ to large swathes of the West Bank territories beginning July 1, with the intelligence chief said to have gauged possible reactions to the decision from Palestinian actors, including Hamas.

According to the paper’s source, the two sides discussed the possibility of events “going out of control” and the dangers of a violent reaction amid the Palestinians.

The Egyptian side is said to have conveyed Cohen’s comments to Jordanian officials. Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz threatened to reconsider his country’s relations with Israel over its West Bank plans last week, stressing that Amman would “not accept unilateral Israeli moves to annex Palestinian lands.” King Abdallah II warned that the move would lead to a “massive conflict with Jordan,” and mean a possible end to the 1994 Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty.

Egyptian officials have yet to comment on the plans. Egypt and Jordan are currently the only Arab countries which recognize the state of Israel, with Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries, as well as Libya, refusing to do so.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced last week that East Jerusalem would no longer be bound by agreements with the US and Israeli governments, “including those related to security” amid Tel Aviv’s “annexation plans.”

Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated he had no intention of deviating from the project, which would put about 1,200 square km, or 20.5 percent of the UN-recognized Palestinian territory under Israeli control.

FBI’s Top Lawyer Boente Gets The Ax

After a 38-year career with the Justice Department, the FBI’s top lawyer Dana Boente was asked to resign on Friday. Two sources familiar with the decision to dismiss Boente said it came from high levels of the Justice Department rather than directly from FBI Director Christopher Wray.

His departure comes on the heels of recent criticism for his role in the investigation of former Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

A spokesman for the FBI confirmed to NBC News that Boente did in fact resign on Friday.

Boente has been under fire for his role in the investigation of Flynn, whose criminal charge for lying to the FBI was recently dropped by the Justice Department based in part on the argument that his lies were not material to an underlying investigation. Boente signed one of the warrants renewing the FBI’s authority to surveil Flynn. The warrants, known as FISA warrants, were renewed several times and had to be approved by a judge.

Boente also said in a recently leaked memo that material put into the public record about Flynn was not exculpatory for the former national security advisor. The memo undermines the Justice Department’s latest position that material about Flynn was mishandled by prosecutors.

Wray formally asked for Boente’s resignation, but the decision to end his tenure at the FBI came from Attorney General William Barr’s Justice Department, which oversees the FBI, according to two sources.

A spokesman for the FBI said Boente announced on Friday his decision to retire, which will take effect June 30.

Not sure. Really hard to tell, since one photo is head on, the other is not. But:

1. Ears on right stick out way farther.

2. Graying pattern does NOT match - very little on right, very much on left. Hair is a different color - effect of lighting?

3. Nothing to distinguish, can neither agree or disagree'

Portland, Oregon Mayor Ted Wheeler on Saturday declared a local state of emergency in his city and imposed a strict curfew, efforts meant to counteract the violent protests taking place there as part of a nationwide series of riots over the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd.

Floyd died after police officers in Minneapolis on Monday arrested him and pinned him to the ground, with one officer kneeling on Floyd's neck while he screamed "I can't breathe!" Cities from Los Angeles to New York have seen rioting in response to that death. Minnesota's Minneapolis and St. Paul have both been ablaze for several days.

Protests in Portland turned violent overnight Saturday as rioters smashed businesses and set fires while clashing with police officers. Wheeler on Saturday said he "cannot condone last night's violence," nor "stand by and watch our city be destroyed, buildings set aflame."

The mayor's curfew forbids outdoor travel between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Those who violate the order can face arrest and up to $500 in fines.

Afghan Government Releases 710 Taliban Militants As Fighting in Country Resumes

The Afghan government has released another 710 Taliban* prisoners as part of President Ashraf Ghani's commitment to free 2,000 militants in response to the Eid ceasefire, the Afghan National Security Council said in a statement.

"The Government has released 710 Taliban* prisoners from Pul-e Charkhi, Parwan and other prisons in the provinces since yesterday", the National Security Council said. The releases will continue "tonight and tomorrow morning" to meet the 2,000 target.

On Tuesday, 900 Taliban* prisoners were released across the country. The released prisoners were mainly from the Pul-e-Charkhi prison in Kabul and the Bagram prison in the central Afghan province of Parwan, National Security Council's spokesman Javid Faisal said, as quoted by local media.

On 23 May, the militant group declared a three-day ceasefire in Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim holiday marking the end of the fasting period. Fighting resumed in Afghanistan after the Eid festival ceasefire expired on 26 May.

The exchange of prisoners, ceasefire, and launch of intra-Afghan talks — as components of a peace deal negotiated with the mediation of the United States earlier this year — are expected to pave the way for ending the almost two-decade-long confrontation between Kabul and the Taliban*.

New Allegations Of Massive Corruption In Colombian Armed Forces And Threats Against Whistleblowers

Local media in Colombia this week have been scrutinizing the statements of the retired colonel, Martín Arrauth. The former military intelligence officer participated in the Bastón operation, an investigation that revealed a major corruption scandal within the Colombian Army after details were first published by the Semana media outlet.

According to sources within the institutions, Arrauth was a long-time confidant of the former commander of the military forces, General Alberto José Mejía, today Colombia’s ambassador to Australia.

Colonel Arrauth was one of the Army’s Counterintelligence Commanders from December 2015 to July 2018.

He took part in the restructuring and reorganization of the National Army’s Counterintelligence during that period, and took part in planning not only the Bastón mission, but more than 700 other related operations pursuant to orders and directives of his superior officers.

According to the officer, the objective of the operations was to identify, prevent, detect, interrupt or counteract foreign intelligence activities, terrorist organizations, subversive agents or activities and other possible threats to the preservation of personnel, facilities, infrastructure, equipment and information, all within the framework of the relevant constitutional and legal foundations and requirements.

This week he has been identified both from within the Armed Forces as well as by other sources as one of the people who has delivered to the press a large number of documents about the alleged irregular, criminal and corrupt actions of officers, which he found during the almost three years that he was at the forefront of military counterintelligence.

Regarding his work, retired Colonel Arrauth affirmed that many of the processes were carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office, and that they possess all the relevant documents and inquiries as well as more than 25,000 polygraph tests and recordings.

And in the face of the leaking of the documentation to the media, the officer, in a communication that he sent to Caracol Radio, said that “he will never violate the legal requirements and obligations of the work missions, let alone the intelligence law, as some journalists have alleged who are unaware of the reality of planning and directing, synchronizing information, processing and dissemination, as a tool for command decision-making.”

And while you have Frey’s tacit permission to burn and pillage, under no circumstances are you to attend church services.

Before George Floyd died in police custody this week, triggering destructive riots as large crowds protested in Minneapolis, the city’s mayor, Jacob Frey, warned that allowing 25 percent capacity in churches would be “a recipe in Minneapolis for a public health disaster” due to the coronavirus.

Now, as his city is overwhelmed by crowds causing property damage and clashing with police, Frey’s own government said that it is giving out masks to the rioters — even though the state has prohibited gatherings of 10 or more people because of the pandemic.

Truly surreal. The statement that accompanied the “suggestion” that rioters wear mask cannot be believed.

“The City encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” a press release read. “The City has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.”

“Remain calm. All is well.”

So when do the adults decide the kids have played at running the city long enough and it’s time for them to come home and wash up for dinner? After another night of mayhem last night, it may be sooner than anyone thinks. Trump has asked the Pentagon to put military police on alert to go to Minneapolis.

As unrest spread across dozens of American cities on Friday, the Pentagon took the rare step of ordering the Army to put several active-duty U.S. military police units on the ready to deploy to Minneapolis, where the police killing of George Floyd sparked the widespread protests.

Soldiers from Fort Bragg in North Carolina and Fort Drum in New York have been ordered to be ready to deploy within four hours if called, according to three people with direct knowledge of the orders. Soldiers in Fort Carson, in Colorado, and Fort Riley in Kansas have been told to be ready within 24 hours. The people did not want their names used because they were not authorized to discuss the preparations.

It should go without saying that military police do not have the training to deal with an urban riot. The irony is that the Minneapolis police are very well trained to handle urban unrest but have been told to stand down by the mayor. Trump is courting disaster if he sends MP’s to do the work of cops.

The issue is how to get Mayor Frey to do his job and not look upon the rioters with “understanding and compassion.” Everyone is sad George Floyd is dead. No race, no ethnic group has a corner on sympathy when the police make a fatal error involving an unarmed civilian.

But Frey’s forbearance in the face of violence and anarchy is misplaced. This isn’t some social experiment where Frey can be allowed to tinker with mob psychology. It’s a riot. And the anti-social criminals who are looting and burning do not want or deserve our “understanding.” They don’t care.

Frey has opened Pandora’s Box and unleashed forces he can’t possibly understand. Someone has got to intervene and take control of a situation that is still spiraling out of control.

US Employment News: Google Cancels Job Offers To More Than 2,000 Workers

For the longest time, Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) subsidiary Google has been known to depend heavily upon a workforce of temporary employees and contractors. Google employs so many temps and contractors, in fact, that its non-employee workforce actually outnumbers Google's actual employees.

That mismatch is shrinking a bit this month - but not in a good way.

Rather than convert more temps into full-time employees (which would be a good thing for the workers), the New York Times reported Friday that Google has rescinded job offers to "several thousand" temporary and contract workers at locations around the world, workers that the company had previously planned to hire.

"We're slowing our pace of hiring and investment, and are not bringing on as many new starters as we had planned at the beginning of the year," said Google in an email sent to the staffing firms that it had planned to hire from, explaining that it "will not be moving forward to onboard" the workers in question. Indeed, in April, as the recession gathered steam, Google pulled job offers it had extended to "several dozen" temporary and contract workers - but this latest wave of rescissions is multiple times larger in scale.

The staffing firms, too, could see an effect from Google's move. Accenture (NYSE:ACN), Cognizant (NASDAQ:CTSH), and Adecco are all said to be among the companies whose employees will not be taken on as temps and contract employees at Google, and this will reduce the revenues those firms would have received from placing the workers.

In a statement, Google spokeswoman Alex Krasov noted that Google is also slowing down its hiring pace of full-time employees.

Indigenous Chilean Flag, Symbol of Leftist Riots, Appears in Minneapolis

The flag of the Mapuche indigenous people of Chile, whose use became prominent among violent leftist protesters in that country last year, was spotted amid anti-police brutality protests in Minneapolis on Thursday.

A protester appeared on video waving the flag in a crowd of protesters outside of a Minneapolis police department station on Thursday chanting, “F*ck the police,” as captured by the Daily Caller and screenshotted by MRC Latino Director John Bonilla.

It is not clear why the Mapuche flag appeared in Minneapolis to protest against the police for the death of black man George Floyd, but its presence indicates that radical leftist groups could be using Floyd’s death to assert themselves despite their unclear ties to the incident.

The flag represents the Mapuche people who live in Chile; the Mapuche Nation extends throughout both Chile and Argentina. Protesters waved the Mapuche flag during violent protests last year against the centrist government of Chile. The protests began as peaceful demonstrations against a proposed subway fare hike in the capital, Santiago, but were hijacked by violent leftist groups who began burning down churches, destroying statues of historical figures, and killing people. Chilean authorities found several foreign nationals from leftist dictatorships like Venezuela and Cuba among the rioters.

The Mapuche people comprise the largest of Chile’s native groups — ten percent of 17 million, according to the Guardian. Radical Mapuche groups have protested against socioeconomic grievances stemming back 150 years, and have firebombed more than 900 targets since 2011 and claimed 20 lives.

In 2018, a Mapuche farmer named Camilo Catrillanca was killed by Chilean police, which provoked widespread anger.

“The Mapuche flag cannot only be seen as symbol in favour of the Mapuche cause,” Kenneth Bunker, a Chilean political scientist, told the Guardian, “but also as an anti-system emblem.”

Middle- and working-class protesters in Chile last year adopted the Mapuche flag as a symbol during the mass protests against the subway fare hikes. Some of those arrested for rioting and looting and deported were found to be Cubans, Venezuelans, Bolivians, and Dominicans who hailed from communist or socialist governments.

Top FBI Lawyer Who Targeted General Flynn, Dana Boente, Ousted From Bureau

The FBI’s top attorney Dana Boente was asked to resign on Friday.

Recall, Dana Boente was involved in the targeting of General Flynn.

Dana Boente signed one of the FISA renewals to surveil Flynn and was accused of withholding exculpatory evidence in Flynn’s case.

According to NBC, FBI Director Wray formally asked Boente to resign, but the decision to oust him came from high levels of Barr’s Justice Department.

NBC News reported:

After a 38-year career with the Justice Department, the FBI’s top lawyer Dana Boente was asked to resign on Friday. Two sources familiar with the decision to dismiss Boente said it came from high levels of the Justice Department rather than directly from FBI Director Christopher Wray.

A spokesman for the FBI confirmed to NBC News that Boente did in fact resign on Friday.

Fox News has recently criticized Boente’s role in the investigation of Flynn, whose criminal charge for lying to the FBI was recently dropped by the Justice Department based in part on the argument that his lies were not material to an underlying investigation. Boente signed one of the warrants renewing the FBI’s authority to surveil Flynn. The warrants, known as FISA warrants, were renewed several times and had to be approved by a judge.

Of course FBI Director Wray praised Boente on his way out.

“Few people have served so well in so many critical, high-level roles at the Department,” Wray said in a statement. “Throughout his long and distinguished career as a public servant, Dana has demonstrated a selfless determination to ensure that justice is always served on behalf of our citizens.”

Chinese cheating rampant in U.S. college applications, and in classrooms

As lawmakers mount pressure on Chinese foreign students, Campus Reform reexamines a scandal that has affected campuses across the country: rampant cheating from Chinese students.

Reports indicate that not only do Chinese students cheat on their college applications, but many continue to cheat even after they’ve arrived in the U.S.

Fake transcripts and essays, falsified letters of recommendation and test scores, paid consultants, and fake passports and IDs. These are just some of the many methods that Chinese nationals have reportedly used to gain acceptance into U.S. colleges and universities.

What once might have been a few isolated incidents has now turned into a vast, international money-making industry.

Hiu Kit David Chong, an admissions official at the University of Southern California (USC), pleaded guilty in April to wire fraud in and helping Chinese students defraud their college applications. According to the Department of Justice, Chong admitted to making $40,000 from clients over the years by providing “false college transcripts with inflated grades,” “fraudulent personal statements,” and “phony letters of recommendation” for the applications of his Chinese clients.

He also offered to provide surrogate test takers for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam for international students.

Chong was not the only person offering such services. In fact, according to a 2012 report by Time Magazine, a “huge industry of education agents” has emerged to appeal to the increasing number of Chinese nationals who want to study abroad at U.S. universities.

Springfield's Target closes Saturday afternoon, company announces some temporary closures nationwide

Target has also announced temporary closures for dozens of locations nationwide, including many in Minnesota, until further notice.

As of 5 p.m. Springfield and a few other Missouri locations near St. Louis were added to the list.

The company released the following statement on the listed closures:

"We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing communities across the country. At this time, we have made the decision to close a number of our stores. We anticipate most stores will be closed temporarily. Our focus will remain on our team members’ safety and helping our community heal. We’re providing our team members with direct communications updates regarding any store impact where they work. Additionally, team members impacted by store closures will be paid for up to 14 days of scheduled hours during store closures, including COVID-19 premium pay. They will also be able to work at other nearby Target locations."

Biden staff donate to group that pays bail in riot-torn Minneapolis

At least 13 Biden campaign staff members posted on Twitter on Friday and Saturday that they made donations to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which opposes the practice of cash bail, or making people pay to avoid pre-trial imprisonment. The group uses donations to pay bail fees in Minneapolis.

Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement to Reuters that the former vice president opposes the institution of cash bail as a “modern day debtors prison.”

But the campaign declined to answer questions on whether the donations were coordinated within the campaign, underscoring the politically thorny nature of the sometimes violent protests.

Bates instead pointed to Biden’s comments that protesters have the right to be angry but that more violence won’t solve justice problems.

President Donald Trump, a Republican who has described himself as a “law and order” president, on Friday criticized violent protesters as “thugs,” and on Saturday said states and cities must get “much tougher” on anti-police protests or the federal government will step in, including by using the military and making arrests.

Trump has also expressed sympathy over the case of George Floyd, who died on Monday after a police officer pinned him to ground by kneeling on his neck.

It is unclear how many people have been jailed after four nights of protests. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Saturday said many of those arrested have been from out of state.

Minnesota could be critical in determining the winner of the Nov. 3 presidential election.

The Democratic candidate in the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton, narrowly won the state by a 1.5 percentage point margin. Trump hopes to win the state this year and held a large rally in Minneapolis in October.

Trump has struggled to attract African American voters, with only 8% of African Americans voting for him in 2016, according to a Reuters/Ipsos Election Day poll. However, a nationwide decline in black voter turnout in 2016 was widely seen as contributing to Trump’s victory.

Biden’s campaign staff, in their Twitter posts, called attention to U.S. inequities based on race and income.

“It is up to everyone to fight injustice,” Colleen May, who identified herself as an campaign organizer for Biden in South Carolina, Wisconsin and Florida, said in a Twitter post that included an image of her receipt from donating $50 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.
