Chinese Company that Makes Forehead Thermometers ‘Jokes’ About Making Faulty Product for Sale in US in Order to Spread Disease

The owner of a Chinese factory in an online group chat suggested intentionally calibrating forehead thermometers shipped to the United States a few degrees cooler than what the actual temperature is.

That way Americans who are sick will not register as having a fever and will then spread the coronavirus.

Writer Jennifer Zeng posted this thread on Twitter.

Zhang Xuandong, owner of Haofeng Electronic Technology Co. in Dongguan, #Guangdong Province in #China, says in a chat group of orehead thermometer producers which has 178 members, “Produce some fake products and sell them to the US. They (thermometers) should read 36.5 ºC when the actual temperature is 39 ºC. In this way, more and more American people will be infected. WorkWeek host Steve Zeltzer interviews Dr. Fancis Boyle who is a law professor at the University of Illinois.

He was the draft author of the U.S. domestic implementing legislation for the Biological Weapons Convention, known as the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, that was approved unanimously by both Houses of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.

He discusses the likelihood in his view that coronavirus or 2019-nCoV virus was a genetically engineered virus that may have been accidentally released from the Biosafety (BSL-4) laboratory located in Wuhan, China.

He also has said that the sars virus may also have been released from the same laboratory.

He reports that the World Health Organization WHO is also aware of this release and is keeping it a secret from the public.

Boyle also calls for the shutdown of all (BSL-4) laboratories both in China and the United States and around the world and discusses the dangerous lack of health and safety at these biotech laboratories including in California where there is a large biotech industry.

Jeremy Hunt today demanded the government speeds up progress on mass testing - saying it is the fastest way to end the coronavirus lockdown.

The former health secretary - now chair of the influential Commons health committee - pointed to the regime in place in South Korea, where 'restaurants are open'.

The call came as Tony Blair warned Britain might have to carry out 180million coronavirus checks to defeat the deadly disease.

The ex-PM said testing will need to carry on for a long time, as even if the outbreak subsides there will be a threat of 'resurgence'.

He said 'virtually everyone' will need to be tested for whether they have coronavirus.

And Mr Blair warned that might need to happen two or three times to combat any return of the outbreak. That could potentially mean in the region of 180million individual tests.

Cabinet minister Michael Gove confirmed this morning that the number of UK tests per day has reached 10,000.

At that rate it could take more than 50 years to check the whole 66million-strong population three times - although Mr Gove stressed that the numbers are being urgently increased.

He declined to give a timescale for when all frontline NHS staff will get access to checks, after small-scale trials were launched.

And there is still no clear idea when the UK will be conducting the 25,000 tests a day promised by Boris Johnson.

I've been trying to understand why we are scrambling for ventilators that obviously aren't for corona virus use. What if the opioid supply is going to be turned off completely all at once? Millions of opioid withdrawals will take place. Many ventilators will be needed.

Just to demonstrat what we can find from this style of historic digging:

The Drummond Tobacco Company was sold to the American Tobacco Company in the late 1890s.

The American Tobacco Company became American Brands, Inc. in 1969.

The tobacco operations were sold to Brown & Williamson in 1994

and American Brands restructured as Fortune Brands.

Brown & williamson was sold to the British American Tobacco company in 1994. Lorillard Tobacco COmpany was involved in the deal as well.

A common theme I've come across with many of these industries is that they go through consolidation efforts especially through the 80s and 90s.

Those efforts OFTEN end up in the hands of a british based company.

Digging into those companies you find heavy royal and aristocratic influences.

Another example besides British American Tobacco is BTR, plc. They acquired Dunlop and an earlier company that turned into Henniges that joe biden sold off.

If the heirarchy of corporate influence in the US is based on consolidation and kicking value up the chain,

the brits have a heavy influence in peeling off the top all the companies that are useful to them.

This is pure speculation on my part, based on my gut feeling and previous research. The last time Dr. Anthony Fauci did the Sunday Shows a few weeks back, he achieved a vaunted Washington milestone by doing all five network and cable Sunday shows - NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News & CNN - in one day. That was back when President Trump's approval rating was soaring, and the good doctor was indisputably the lead 'subject matter expert' guiding the White House's response.

That was less than a month ago. But in that time, so much has changed.

President Trump and the good doctor are said to be at odds over some vaguely critical statements made by Fauci. Of course, that didn't stop the administration and that task force's media team from sending him out to do more Sunday Show appearances as officials hope futures will open higher after Friday's selloff following the first three-day rebound since February.

Still, as the death toll in the US crept above 2,000, Dr. Fauci, officially the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House coronavirus task force told CNN's "State of the Union" that models suggest the coronavirus will infect millions of Americans and could kill between 100,000 to 200,000.

However, he stressed that these projections are really a "moving target", and that it's possible the numbers could be much lower - or much higher - depending on how the US handles the response. So far, the disorganized response at the federal level has left a hodge podge of states to deal with their own problems, which is why Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards - a Democrat - is begging the Feds for help before the outbreak completely overruns his state's capacity to handle it.

Back to the interview, Dr. Fauci told Jake Tapper that "Looking at what we are seeing now, I would say between 100,000-200,000” deaths from the coronavirus. “We’re going to have millions of cases," he added.

"But it's such a moving target and you could so easily be wrong...what we do know is we have a serious problem in New York, we have a serious problem in New Orleans and we're going to be developing serious problems in other areas. Although people like to model it, let's just look at the data that we have, and not worry about these worst case and best case scenarios."

Dr. Fauci also cautioned the public about how to interpret models:

"There are things called models, and when someone creates a model, they put in various assumptions. And the model is only as good and as accurate as your assumptions."

"And whenever the modelers come in, they give a worst case scenario and a best case scenario. Generally, the reality is somewhere in the middle. I've never seen a model of the diseases that I've dealt with where the worst case scenario actually came out. They always overshoot."

The monsters over at the New York Times have published a call for there to be “more abortions” during the coronavirus outbreak — and for taxpayers to pick up the bill.

The newspaper also called for the medication to perform abortions at home to be available to women without them ever having to visit a doctor.

In Thursday’s call to action titled “Make Abortion More Available During the Pandemic — Not Less,” the New York Times whined that elective abortions have been deemed “non-essential” in some places as local governments seek to save medical equipment like masks and gloves for coronavirus patients.

“In recent days, leaders in several states — including Texas, Ohio and Louisiana — have pushed to close abortion clinics or severely curtail access, arguing that abortion is a nonessential procedure that ought to be delayed,” the editorial board wrote.

The Times takes aim directly at Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, a Democrat who is opposed to abortion. He recently passed an abortion law similar to the one in Texas, which the newspaper notes, will “close all but one abortion clinic in Louisiana.”

Though people could actually die from coronavirus, through no fault of their own, and there is a shortage of the supplies needed to treat them, the Times worries that the “consequences of being unable to obtain an abortion profoundly impact a person’s life, health and well-being.”

“Ah, yes, killing kids is as essential as the ER doctor saving lives. This is just a dark Orwellian leftist game. The notion that someone wanting an abortion (A CHOICE) is an equal emergency to someone’s imminent death from coronavirus or a heart attack is not convincing,” Newsbusters writer Gabriel Hays remarked about the article.

The editorial board goes on to call for the medication needed to kill a fetus to be available “by mail.”

“Given the coronavirus pandemic, it is incumbent on the F.D.A. to relax its regulation on mifepristone, at least temporarily. Doing so would allow many women to get a prescription for abortion-inducing drugs from a doctor via telemedicine, at which point the medications could be mailed to the patient,” they argued. “Unfortunately, 18 states effectively ban abortion care via telemedicine — measures that also ought to be lifted, at least for the time being.”

Perhaps worst of all, the newspaper calls for taxpayers to have to cover the bill for abortions.

“Finally, it’s long past time to end America’s bans on government funding for abortions, like the federal Hyde Amendment and similar state measures. These bans mean that poor women already struggle to afford reproductive health care — an issue that’s sure to be exacerbated during the coronavirus crisis and the economic fallout from it,” they wrote.

The Times describes their editorial board as “a group of opinion journalists whose views are informed by expertise, research, debate and certain longstanding values. It is separate from the newsroom.”

US forces pack up and leave Kirkuk airbase… but pulling out of Iraq still off the table

US and coalition troops have left an airbase in Kirkuk, Iraq, and given a million dollars-worth of equipment to Iraqi security forces. However, the full-scale withdrawal demanded by the Iraqi government has still some way to go.

With the Covid-19 pandemic grabbing headlines at home, US forces in Iraq have been engaged in a quiet retreat abroad. Despite President Donald Trump’s insistence on leaving troops in Iraq following a series of clashes with Iranian-backed militias, coalition forces have withdrawn from three bases in the country this month.

The third withdrawal, from the K1 Airbase near the northern city of Kirkuk, was announced on Sunday by coalition spokesman Col. Myles Caggins. Claiming that the coalition’s goal of defeating Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) was “successful,” Caggins said that the base’s 300 coalition soldiers and sailors would be “repositioned to other locations to continue the anti-ISIS partnership.”

A rocket attack on the base by an Iran-aligned militia group in December killed an American contractor and triggered a series of retaliatory attacks, eventually leading to the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani by the US in January. Soleimani’s killing, and the Iranian missile strike on another American base that followed, brought the US and Iran to the brink of open war.

Now, the US is abandoning many of these facilities. Bases at Qaim and Qayyarah – both flashpoints for clashes with pro-Iranian militias – were vacated earlier this month, and US troops will pull out of more locations this year.

After Receiving $25 Million Coronavirus Bailout, JFK Center Stops Paying Musicians

After receiving a controversial $25 million bailout (which would pay for a lot of respirators), the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts notified nearly 100 musicians with the National Symphony Orchestra that they won't receive paychecks after April 3rd, according to the orchestra's COVID-19 Advisory Committee obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

"The Covid-19 Advisory Committee was broadsided today during our conversation with [Kennedy Center President] Deborah Rutter," reads the email. "Ms. Rutter abruptly informed us today that the last paycheck for all musicians and librarians will be April 3 and that we will not be paid again until the Center reopens."

The email went out to members on Friday evening, shortly after President Trump signed the $2 trillion CARES Act, a stimulus package intended to provide relief to people left unemployed by the coronavirus pandemic. Congress included $25 million in taxpayer funding for the Kennedy Center, a provision that raised eyebrows from both Democrats and Republicans, but ultimately won support from President Trump. The bailout was designed to "cover operating expenses required to ensure the continuity of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and its affiliates, including for employee compensation and benefits, grants, contracts, payments for rent or utilities, fees for artists or performers," according to the law's text. The arts organization decided that the relief did not extend to members of the National Symphony Orchestra, its house orchestra. -Washington Free Beacon

"Everyone should proceed as if their last paycheck will be April 3," the email continues. "We understand this will come [as a] shock to all of you, as it did to us."

One veteran member of the orchestra (who we suspect forwarded the email to the Beacon) told the outlet that the decision has "blindsided" musicians.

"It's very disappointing [that] they're going to get that money and then drop us afterward," the musician said. "The Kennedy Center blindsided us."

The cente, which received $41 million from taxpayers in 2019, just completed a $250 million renovation - however it faced insurmountable deficits after shuttering its doors on March 12 due to COVID-19.

The suspected predator cop was arrested on February 15th a full six months after the rapes were reportedly alleged to have started. At the time of Agovino’s arrest Peekskill Mayor André Rainey called the officer’s arrest an “embarrassment to our police department and our entire city.”

As unfortunate as this is, I’m very optimistic this isn’t a reflection of our police department, however, we will not tolerate this behavior at all…We’ve come too far and we will continue moving forward and deal with this situation accordingly if these allegations are true.

Bail was originally set at $50,000 but was raised to $100,000 apparently a result of the seriousness of the charges. Officer Agovino posted bail and is out of jail awaiting trial. Following his arrest the Peekskill officer was placed on administrative leave and is currently drawing his peace officer salary pending the outcome of the trial which could take months and even years.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Agovino’s arrest and said he committed the crime of sexually abusing the female victim while he was acting in the course of his duties as a Peekskill Police Officer. He was arraigned on a 20-count indictment before Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace charged with the following crimes:

3 counts of Burglary in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a class C felony

2 counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, a class C felony

2 counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony

1 count of Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a class D felony

1 count of Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree, a class D felony

1 count of Stalking in the First Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a class D felony

1 count of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a class E felony

4 counts of Official Misconduct, a misdemeanor

2 counts of Forcible Touching/Forcibly touch other person’s sexual/intimate parts, a misdemeanor

3 counts of Coercion in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor

DA Scarpino said in his press release of the arrest and arraignment of the Peekskill police officer:

The charges in this indictment are based on several incidents where, prosecutors allege, that Michael Agovino, while dressed in his Peekskill Police uniform coerced a victim, illegally entered her home, and sexually abused her. He is also accused of filing false reports. At least four separate incidents took place on several dates starting July 9, 2019 and ending Jan. 22, 2020 when the victim reported it.

While we do not know the age or identity of his alleged victim we, at TFTP, would like to praise her heroism displayed when she took the very risky decision to audio record at least one of the incidents of rape which took place in her apartment.

We would like to encourage any and all potential victims of Officer Agovino to come forward and report any and all criminal activity to the Westchester County District Attorney’s office. At the same time, ordinary people in Norway are prohibited from visiting their cottages until at least Easter, a measurement the government took to curb the virus’s spread.

MANILA (Reuters) - A medical evacuation plane exploded during take-off in the Philippine capital on Sunday, killing all eight passengers and crew, including an American and a Canadian, officials said.

The plane, owned by a Philippines-registered charter service Lionair, had been bound for Haneda, Japan, but burst into flames at the end of the runway around 8 p.m. (1200 GMT), Manila's main airport said.

Indonesian carrier Lion Air issued a statement making clear that it is unrelated to Manila-based Lionair.

Video footage showed a huge plume of smoke rising into the night sky as fire crews doused the fuselage with foam.

The twin-jet West Wind 24 plane was carrying three medical personnel, three flight crew, a patient and a companion, Richard Gordon, a senator and head of the Philippine Red Cross, said on Twitter.

"Unfortunately, no passenger survived the accident," the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in a statement.

An investigation by the Civil Aeronautics Authority of the Philippines was under way, MIAA said.

The runway has been closed temporarily, affecting an arriving Korean Air flight that was diverted to Clark airport in northern Philippines, said MIAA General Manager Eddie Monreal.

The aim is to reopen the runway about two hours after midnight, he said in a press briefing.

Monreal confirmed that an American national and a Canadian citizen were among those killed, but could not provide further detail. The six others were all Filipinos, he said.

A CBS News producer who tested positive for the coronavirus has died just weeks after the network shutdown its New York City office when at least six employees fell ill with the virus.

CBS announced the loss of their 'beloved' CBS News colleague Maria Mercader, in a statement shared on Twitter.

How Much Should the Public Know About Who Has the Coronavirus?

SAN JOSE, Calif. — When the first case of the coronavirus in Silicon Valley was discovered in late January, health officials were faced with a barrage of questions: What city did the patient live in? Whom had he come in contact with? Which health clinic had he visited before he knew he was infected?

Dr. Sara Cody, the chief health officer for Santa Clara County, which has a population of 2 million across 15 cities, declined to give details.

“I can’t give the city,” she said, adding “we are not going to be giving out information about where he sought health care.”

As the coronavirus spreads across the United States the limited disclosure of data by officials would seem to be a footnote to the suffering and economic disruptions that the disease is causing.

But medical experts say that how much the public should know has become a critical question that will help determine how the United States confronts this outbreak and future ones.

Residents are clamoring to see whether the virus has been detected in their neighborhoods so they can take more steps to avoid any contact. American researchers are starved for data, unlike their colleagues in other countries who are harnessing rivers of information from their more centralized medical systems. And local politicians complain that they cannot provide basic information on the spread of the virus to their constituents.

In the perennial tug-of-war between privacy and transparency in the United States, privacy appears to be winning in the coronavirus pandemic.

The bare-minimum approach to public disclosures in places like the San Francisco Bay Area are common across the United States. Armed with emergency powers in many areas, public health officers have vast discretion over what information they want, and do not want, to release to the public. Coronavirus cases in California are often listed by county, generally with very little additional information — such as gender, city of residence or age — provided.

Critics of the threadbare public reporting say it is striking that even in Silicon Valley, which is home to leading technology companies that thrive off the collection of data, residents are given very little information about the movement and dynamics of the virus.

Ontario doctors told to stop prescribing unproven drug combination touted by Donald Trump

Medical and health associations in Ontario issued a warning Saturday as the province — and country — see a surge in the prescription of two drugs that appear to be circulating as treatments for COVID-19 despite both a “serious lack of evidence” that they work and significant potential side-effects.

“Pharmacists across Ontario and across the entire country have reported significant growth in the number of prescriptions being issued for one or a combination of these two products,” says a joint statement from the Ontario Medical Association, Ontario Pharmacists Association and Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.

The prescriptions in question involve a combination of two medications, hydroxychloroquine sulfate (brand name Plaquenil) and azithromycin (brand name Zithromax). Medical and health associations in Ontario issued a warning Saturday as the province — and country — see a surge in the prescription of two drugs that appear to be circulating as treatments for COVID-19 despite both a “serious lack of evidence” that they work and significant potential side-effects.

“Pharmacists across Ontario and across the entire country have reported significant growth in the number of prescriptions being issued for one or a combination of these two products,” says a joint statement from the Ontario Medical Association, Ontario Pharmacists Association and Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.

The prescriptions in question involve a combination of two medications, hydroxychloroquine sulfate (brand name Plaquenil) and azithromycin (brand name Zithromax). The first is often used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and acute malaria attacks, while the latter is prescribed for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by pharyngitis, tonsillitis and community-acquired pneumonia among others.

Thomas J. Pritzker went to Bejing, China in 2012 to present the award to Wang Shu. Many Chinese dignataries were there. He made the presentation at "the prestigious Great Hall of the People". Pope backs UN chief's call for global ceasefire to focus on coronavirus

Pope Francis on Sunday backed a call by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for a global ceasefire so the world can focus on fighting the coronavirus pandemic, reported Reuters.

Speaking at his weekly blessing, delivered from the official papal library instead of St. Peter’s Square because of the lockdown in Italy, Francis specifically mentioned the appeal Guterres made in a virtual news conference on Monday.

Saying the disease knows no borders, Francis appealed to everyone to “stop every form of bellicose hostility and to favour the creation of corridors for humanitarian help, diplomatic efforts and attention to those who find themselves in situations of great vulnerability”.

More than 662,700 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus across the world and 30,751 have died, according to a Reuters tally.

About a third of the deaths have been in Italy, where the toll passed 10,000 on Saturday, a figure that made an extension of a national lockdown almost certain.

Lawmakers already planning more coronavirus stimulus after $2T package

Lawmakers are already planning another round of legislation aimed at keeping companies flush with capital and millions of workers on payrolls amid the coronavirus pandemic, even after passing a $2 trillion relief bill this past week, the largest stimulus of its kind in U.S. history.

The Senate plans to be on recess until April 20, and the House will take an extended break as well, though members say they could return sooner depending on how the economy reacts in the next few weeks.

Businesses, trade associations and state governments are already jockeying for more federal relief, calling the package that President Trump signed Friday a good “first step” but not enough to keep the economy on track if the coronavirus crisis extends beyond the end of April.

Lawmakers in both parties say they expect discussions on a “phase four” coronavirus response bill in the weeks ahead as travel restrictions, social distancing and sick workers squeeze or shutter businesses nationwide.

“I think the odds are we’ll need more legislation. First, we don’t know the extent of the crisis in terms of the magnitude, so that could rise. But there are going to be problems that we don’t realize now that we’re going to have to grapple with,” Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) said.

“So I think the odds are high there will be a Covid-4,” he added, referring to the anticipated next bill.

The need for additional action from Congress was highlighted by a report Thursday that more than 3 million Americans applied for their first week of unemployment in the week ending March 21, a tremendous spike from recent numbers well under 300,000.

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz warned Friday that the company will likely have to lay off workers in the fall because the stimulus package was not big enough.

“Being honest, fair and upfront with you: If the recovery is as slow as we fear, it means our airline and workforce will have to be smaller than it is today,” he said.

The stimulus package includes language in its air carrier worker support subtitle that prohibits airlines from furloughing workers or cutting benefits before Sept. 30, but Munoz warned Friday the slowdown in travel may last into next year.

Senate Republican Policy Committee Chairman Roy Blunt (Mo.) said he expects another relief bill soon.

“The minute we’re done with phase three, we’ll start talking about phase four because all of us know that phase three can’t have included everything that needs to be included,” he said.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also says another stimulus package is needed and on Wednesday vowed that House Democrats would seek to send out another round of direct rebates to low- and middle-income Americans.

"We had bigger direct payments in our bill, and we think we'll get more direct payments in another bill," she said in an interview with CNN.

The package Trump signed into law Friday will send $1,200 rebate checks to American adults earning up to $75,000, with the amounts phasing out above that threshold.

CBS News Journalist Maria Mercader Dies From COVID-19

Maria Mercader, a longtime CBS News journalist, died of COVID-19, the network confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

Mercader, 54, succumbed to the CCP virus in a New York hospital that was not disclosed. She had been on medical leave for an unrelated issue since February, the network said, adding that she had battled against cancer and related health problems for decades.

How Far-Right Media Is Weaponizing Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has been marked by medical uncertainty, rapidly changing information, and partisan rancor, making it a prime target for the spread of disinformation: some of that disinformation is about unproven cures, for both the disease and the disintegrating economy; some is intended to delegitimize the politicians who may or may not be in a position to steer the nation through it (and some of it comes not via the internet but from the president himself; see the man who died after heeding Trump’s assurances that chloroquine was a possible answer to coronavirus). Jiore Craig is a political consultant at a research firm, GQR Insights and Action, who has spent the past four years tracking the spread of disinformation online, much of it originating with, or being propagated by, the far-right political media — sites like Breitbart and Infowars. The Cut spoke to her about the patterns she’s seen and how they’re playing out in the midst of this pandemic.

Can you describe what you do for a living?

I try to figure out how public opinion is being formed online. We’re looking at what is going on on social media, and especially how disinformation is affecting what the public thinks about issues, candidates, and policy proposals. So we study conservative bad actors, those known for putting out disinformation, and what’s been interesting in the midst of COVID-19 is that even they needed to take a moment to get their bearings. Typically bad actors on the right — conservative online media which rampantly spreads disinformation — are very quick to align, and get their messaging straight, which usually comes down to reaching for handy attacks, targeting women, etc. But in this moment, it took a while for them to turn their cannons in the same direction.

Who are these conservative bad actors you’re referring to?

Obviously there’s Fox News, but I’m talking about more specialized online publications, like Breitbart, the Daily Caller, Red State, Town Hall, and people like Ben Shapiro and Tomi Lahren. There’s something called Salem Media Group; they control niche Facebook pages like I Am A Conservative Woman and Shut Down Planned Parenthood, and the social network only recently identified that both of those pages were controlled by Salem. These sites are different from Twitter. Twitter is where more journalists and opinion elites are, and so journalists write a lot about trends they see on Twitter. But I focus on what’s being shared on Facebook and other platforms where the majority of voters are spending their time. We know that Facebook increasingly has an older audience, so I look at what’s spreading there.

You mentioned that one of the key moves of these sites is targeting women. Is that the case even in the midst of COVID-19 panic?

What I should explain is that when multiple publications act at once on a social-media platform they get an algorithmic benefit. So those pages I mentioned often coordinate; they’re posting at the same time and coordinating around specific attacks, and one area where they do that is attacks on women. And there is a good example involving coronavirus. When Trump called out individual politicians, including governors like Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer, it was very easy for these sites to use a typical framing right away: an unflattering picture of her, where she looks drunk or cross-eyed, or appears dumb, crazy, emotional, unhinged, angry. The sites are ready to echo each other, and so they amplified an attack on Whitmer more than they amplified attacks on other male governors that Trump got into fights with last week. Now part of that is that Whitmer is in a swing state, while Andrew Cuomo, for example, is not. But it’s also that those misogynistic frames are so readily available to them.

Can Companies Dock Stimulus Money from Employee Pay? Texas Company Looking to Do Just That

Before President Donald Trump signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (H.R. 748[1]), also known as the CARES Act, there were a lot of “What if?” questions as to where the money was headed and who would receive it.

For employees of a company in Austin, Texas, the “what if” questions are being replaced with one big “Why?” question: Why is the company looking to dock the pay of employees who receive the stimulus “checks” scheduled to be sent out in a few weeks?

According to an unnamed employee of the as-yet-unidentified company who spoke to local news station KXAN, the company sent a form to workers titled “Employee Acknowledgement of ‘Government Assistance’ Pay Reduction.” The employee said, “The form says they are preemptively deducting funds from our paychecks. That number is based on what they’re anticipating the government relief fund to be.”

People whose tax filing status is single and earn less than $75,000 / year will receive $1,200. Joint filers with incomes less than $150,000 will get $2,400. Another $500 for each dependent child will be paid regardless of the parents' filing status.

The anonymous employee said that about 25% of the workforce was already laid off and these employees are expected to receive the household payments along with a boost over normal unemployment benefits.

Workers who remain on the job cannot collect any unemployment cash but would receive their normal wages along with any stimulus payment. If the company cuts wages equal to the stimulus payment plus half of any stimulus payment for any children, that would put the employed worker at quite a disadvantage compared to the laid-off worker.

The obvious allegation is that the company wants to replace a worker’s pay with the government’s payments meant for the consumer to spend and in theory, help the American economy.

Unemployed people have another advantage in that laws generally favor their rights over the former employer over disputes about benefits. Laws that protect the employed are not as strong, according to labor attorney Austin Kaplan.

Kaplan told KXAN, “Employers can lay them off or fire them for good reason, bad reason or no reason at all as long as it’s not for an illegal reason with no notice whatsoever. From a legal standpoint, in Texas, the law isn’t as strong in employee rights as I would like it to be, but there is a federal law called the ‘Fair Labor Standards Act.' That law says that employees have to get at least minimum wage from the employer during their regular pay period.”

Crucially, those who began by claiming that we faced half a million deaths from the coronavirus in this country have now greatly lowered their estimate. Professor Neil Ferguson was one of those largely responsible for the original panic. He or others from Imperial college have twice revised his terrifying prophecy, first to fewer than 20,000 and then on Friday to 5,700.

He says intensive care units will probably cope. And he conceded a point made by critics of the panic policy – that two-thirds of people who die from coronavirus in the next nine months would most likely have died this year from other causes.

Could he have softened his stance because of the publication early last week of a rival view, from distinguished scientists at Oxford University, led by Sunetra Gupta, Professor of theoretical epidemiology? It suggests that fewer than one in a thousand of those infected with Covid-19 become ill enough to need hospital treatment.

The vast majority develop very mild symptoms or none at all. Millions may already have had it.

This report is being unfairly sneered at by Government toadies, but we shall see. It seems unlikely that Oxford University would have bungled their work.

It is more likely that the panic-mongers, having got their way by spreading alarm and frightening the Prime Minister, are now trying to get us to forget how ludicrous their original claims were. But first let me issue another warning. If the Government do decide to release us from mass arrest, they will say, as Prof Ferguson is doing, that this is because their repressive economy-wrecking measures worked.

We must demand proof, after a thorough independent inquiry, that this is true. For, if it is not, as I very much suspect, then we are in endless danger.

Any government, using the same pretext, can repeatedly put us through this misery, impoverishment and confinement. In the end, like the peoples of other despotisms, we will be grateful to be allowed out at all.

We identified several FDA-approved drugs that had good activity against stationary-phase B. burgdorferi. The anti-persister activities of some drugs were significantly higher than the frontline antibiotics, doxycycline and amoxicillin (Table 1). Antimalarial antibiotics(amodiaquine and quinine), aminoglycoside streptomycin, bismuth, tetracycline, and sulfa drugs also had relatively high activity against B. burgdorferi persisters (Table 1). We also included the currently used Lyme disease treatment antibiotics for comparison with the new active hits. It is interesting to note that cephalosporin antibiotics, ceftriaxone and cefuroxime, and tigecycline had some activity against persisters, but their anti-persister activities were not as strong as cefoperazone, daptomycin, clofazimine or carbomycin (Table 1). Doxycycline, amoxicillin, penicillin G, macrolide antibiotics, azithromycin and clarithromycin had relatively poor activity against B. burgdorferi persisters (Table 1).

If you ask a doctor for something you read somewhere, they are right to refuse you because you have no facts, just rumors. But when you present a doctor with a scientific paper that confirms effectiveness of a drug, it is harder to refuse you, because they risk being sued for negligence and malpractice. Be nice to your doctor and say, here is the scientific evidence, do you have a scientific reason why we should not try this?

The Federal Reserve Act transferred the money-making powers of the United States to a private group of bankers who then set up the fractional reserve system of banking.

Under the charter granted to this private corporation, there was a stipulation that if the American people did not agree with its operation, the people had 20 years to oust the corporate charter.

They could (or were entitled to do this) by the use of an ancient Common Law Writ called a Quo Warranto ["quo warranto" means "by what right?"]

After 20 years it becomes a matter of Public Policy; Public Policy being a part of the Law of Nations under the Law Merchant.

Twenty years puts us to the year 1933, which is the infamous year the Congress suspended our Public National Money System (Gold Standard, House Joint Resolution 192, June 5, 1933) and put an end to the American people being able to "pay" their debts "at law."

Upon reading the debates of the 73rd Congress in 1933 on the subject of the gold standard, one learns that on June 5, 1933 America became bankrupt; being unable to tender in "payment" of debts.

But that is only part of the story.

What you probably also missed was the part where America was re-insured by a credit policy and this was done under the Statute of 19 George II c. 37.

At the stroke of the pen, American lost its Constitutional government in "payment" of debts and its 18-delegated powers, along with its allodial land titles and all the "law" that went with it.

Instead of "paying" taxes to support a democratic-republican form of government, where the people are sovereign, we now have a parliamentary-republic in which the Congress is the sovereign.

But more importantly, all we can do is a compelled performance in "discharge" (NOT PAYMENT) of debts.

These "discharges" are nothing more than insurance premiums to the Federal Reserve, which is a Tontine policy, which is re-insured by a credit policy.

1st: Martial Law is declared by President Lincoln on April 24th, 1863, with General Orders No. 100; under martial law authority, Congress and President Lincoln institute continuous martial law by ordering the states to either conscribe troops and or provide money in support of the North or be recognized as enemies of the nation; this martial law Act of Congress is still in effect today. This martial law authority gives the President (with or without Congress) the dictatorial authority to do anything that can be done by government in accord with the Constitution of the United States of America. This conscription act remains in effect to this very day and is the foundation of “Presidential Executive Orders” authority; it was magnified in 1917 with The Trading with the Enemy Act (Public Law 65-91, 65th Congress, Session I, Chapters 105, 106, October 6, 1917). and again in 1933 with the Emergency War Powers Act, which is ratified and enhanced almost every year to this date by Congress. Today, these Acts address the people of the United States themselves as their enemy.

2nd: The District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871 created a private corporation (hereinafter “Corp. U.S.”, Trademark name, “United States Government”) owned and operated by the actual government for the purpose of carrying out the business needs of the government through contractual relationships made under martial law. This Act was authorized under the constitutional authority for Congress to pass any law within the ten mile square of Washington, District of Columbia (link to PDF image file of the full 1871 Act).

3rd: In said Act, Corp. U.S. adopted their own constitution (United States Constitution), which was identical to the national Constitution (Constitution of the United States of America) except that it was missing the national constitution’s 13th Amendment and the national constitution’s 14th, 15th and 16th amendments are respectively numbered 13th, 14th and 15th amendments in the Corp. U.S. Constitution. At this point take special notice and remember this Corp. U.S. method of adopting their own Constitution, they will add to it in the same manner in 1913.

4th: Corp. U.S. began to generate debts via bonds etc., which came due in 1912; but, they could not pay their debts; so, the 7 families that bought up the bonds demanded payment and Corp. U.S. could not pay. Said families settled the debt for the payments of all of Corp. U.S.’ assets and for all of the assets of the Treasury of the United States of America.

5th: As 1913 began, Corp. U.S. had no funds to carry out the necessary business needs of the government; so, they went to said families and asked if they could borrow some money. The families said, “No.” (Corp. U.S. had already demonstrated that they would not repay their debts in full). The families had foreseen this situation; and, had the year before finalized the creation of a private corporation of the name “Federal Reserve Bank”. Corp. U.S. formed a relationship with the Federal Reserve Bank; whereby, they could transact their business via note rather than with money. Notice that this relationship was one made between two private corporations and did not involve government (see: The Clearfield Doctrine); that is where most people error in understanding the Federal Reserve Bank system—again, except by contract with Corp. U.S., it has no government relation at all. The private contracts that set the whole system up even recognize that; if anything therein proposed is found illegal or impossible to perform it is excluded from the agreements and the remaining elements remain in full force and effect.

6th: Almost simultaneously with the last fact (also in 1913), Corp. U.S. adopts (as if ratified) their own 16th amendment. Tax protesters challenge the IRS tax collection system based on this fact; however, when we remember that Corp. U.S. originally created their constitution by simply drafting it and adopting it, there is no difference between that adoption and this—such is the nature of corporate enactments. You must also note that this amendment has nothing to do with our nation, with our people or with our national Constitution; which already had its own 16th amendment. The Supreme Court ruled that it did nothing that was not already done other than to make plain and clear the right of the United States (Corp. U.S.) to tax corporations. We agree; considering that the IRS was created under the authority of Corp. U.S.

7th: Next (also 1913) Corp. U.S., through Congress, adopts (as if ratified) its 17th amendment. This amendment is not only not ratified, it is not constitutional; the nation’s Constitution forbids Congress from even discussing the matter of where Senators are elected: which is the subject matter of this amendment. According to the United States Supreme Court, for Congress to propose such an amendment they would first have to pass an amendment that gave them the authority to discuss the matter.

8th: Accordingly, in 1914, the Freshman class and all Senators that successfully ran for reelection in 1913 by popular vote were seated in Corp. U.S. Senate capacity only; respectively, the original jurisdiction Senate seats from their respective States remained vacant; because, neither the State Senates nor the State Governors appointed new original jurisdiction Senators to replace them; which is still required by the national Constitution for placement of a national government Senator.

9th: In 1917, Corp. U.S. enters W.W. I and passes their Trading with the Enemies Act.

10th: In 1918, President Wilson is reelected by the Electoral College; but, Electoral College elections are required to be confirmed by the constitutionally set Congress; and,where the new Corp. U.S. only Senators were allowed to participate in the Electoral College vote confirmation, the only authority that could possibly have been used for electoral confirmation was limited to corporate only. Therefore, President Wilson was not confirmed into office for his second term as the President of the United States of America; rather, he was only seated in the Corp. U.S. Presidential capacity as the President of the United States. Therefore the original jurisdiction government’s seats were vacated because the people didn’t seat any original jurisdiction government officers. It is important to note here that President Wilson retained his capacity as Commander in Chief of the military. Many people wonder about this fact imagining that such a capacity is bound to the President of the nation; however, When John Adams was President he assigned George Washington to the capacity of Commander in Chief of the military in preparation for an impending war with France. During this period, Mr. Adams became quite concerned because Mr. Washington became quite ill and passed on his acting military authority through his lead General Mr. Hamilton; and, Mr. Adams was concerned that if war did break out Mr. Hamilton would use that authority as Commander in Chief to create a military dictatorship out of the nation. Mr. Adams worked extra hard to, and, averted the war through diplomacy; and, the title of Commander in Chief was returned to the President. (See: John Adams, by David McCullough, this book covers Mr. Adams concerns over this matter quite well. Mr. Adams was a fascinating man.)

11th: In 1933, Corp. U.S. is bankrupt; which forced what was called “a banking holiday” to exchange money backed Federal Reserve Notes with “legal tender” Federal Reserve Notes; accordingly, the Trading with the Enemies Act was adjusted to recognize the people of the United States of America as enemies of Corp. U.S.

12th: In 1935, the Social Security Act was formed to provide Corp. U.S. the “excess capital” needed to at least start paying some of the interest Corp. U.S. owed in the bankruptcy. Thereafter, if you were to ask the Social Security Administration for a relationship with their program (by filing an S5 form), they would [with the express purpose of generating Beneficiary funds to United States General Trust Fund (GTF) the Social Security Administration] create an entity with a name (that sounds like your name but is spelled with all capital letters) and an account number (Social Security number). Ethnobotanical medicine is effective against the bacterium causing Lyme disease

The researchers show that plant extracts from black walnut, cat’s claw, sweet wormwood, Mediterranean rockrose, and Chinese skullcap had strong activity against B. burgdorferi, outperforming both tested antibiotics.

But by far the strongest performers were Ghanaian quinine (Cryptolepis sanguinolenta; also known as yellow-dye root, nibima, or kadze) and Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum).

Ghanaian quinine is a shrub from West Africa containing the antimicrobial alkaloid cryptolepine, and is used in ethnomedicine to treat malaria, hepatitis, septicemia, and tuberculosis. Japanese knotweed is a traditional medicine in India and China that contains the polyphenol resveratrol. In other preclinical studies it has been found to have anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory effects and protect the nervous system and heart. Extracts from both plants were found to kill microcolonies of Borrelia burgdorferi and inhibit division of the planktonic form, even at low concentrations (0.03-0.5%). Remarkably, a single 7-day treatment with 1% Ghanaian quinine could completely eradicate the bacterium – it did not regrow, even under optimal conditions in the drug’s absence.

“This study provides the first convincing evidence that some of the herbs used by patients such as Cryptolepis, black walnut, sweet wormwood, cat’s claw, and Japanese knotweed have potent activity against Lyme disease bacteria, especially the dormant persister forms, which are not killed by the current Lyme antibiotics,” says Dr Ying Zhang from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Physicians in Wuhan, China, the epicenter for COVID-19 coronavirus that is now infecting human populations around the globe, report a shortage of test kits for this infectious pathogen. But maybe doctors rather than test for a virus ought to be testing for a viral vulnerability factor – an unstable form of haptoglobin (HAPTO-G), genetically prevalent in Asian populations. Then they wouldn’t be likely to run out of test kits as they are manufactured, in of all places, right there in Wuhan.

What is haptoglobin? (hap-tow-glow-bin) This blood protein binds to hemoglobin, the red protein in red blood cells that carries both oxygen and iron. By virtue of its binding power, haptoglobin mops up hemoglobin and loose iron when red blood cells die off so as to limit the availability of potentially destructive unbound iron. Haptoglobin also reduces the amount of iron lost in the kidneys and recycles it.

Out of three types of haptoglobin (HAPTO-G), one type doesn’t bind as well to hemoglobin, releases excess iron which then increases iron-induced oxidation (rusting), and increases oxidation (hardening) of cholesterol and degradation of vitamin C.

Haptoglobin & vitamin C

The type of unstable haptoglobin that leads to the oxidation of vitamin C is very prevalent among Asians.

Unstable haptoglobin is prevalent in up to 56.4% of Chinese males and females, whereas the two more stable forms are distributed in 10% and 33.6% of genetic groups in Chinese populations. The more stable form of HAPTO-G is prevalent among 35% of Caucasians.

Vitamin C blood concentrations are lower among Asians with unstable Hapto-G. Among individuals who don’t consume the Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamin C from their diet, the likelihood a person will be vitamin C-deficient is ~3-fold greater among individuals who inherit the unstable form of HAPTO-G.

Because unstable HAPTO-G does not as efficiently bind to iron, blood storage levels of iron (ferritin) are obviously higher among many Asians.

The aircraft has landed succesfully in the airport at 23.45 local time, emergency services said in a statement.

Houthi rebels in Yemen over the weekend launched what's being described as among the largest assaults on Saudi Arabia since the start of the war five years ago.

Kurdish Militias Start New Dangerous Game in Northern Syria

An armed group named the Islamic Revenge Movement (IRM), hostile towards both Turkish forces and the Syrian Army announced its existence in northern Syria. In a video message released on March 20, the IRM claimed that in 2019 its members conducted 118 attacks killing 13 Turkish officers, 187 Turkish-backed militants and 24 pro-government fighters. The IRM also vowed to continue its fight against the “tyrant state” of Turkey and the “Assad regime” in 2020. The claims of the IRM are very questionable, as the group provided no evidence with which to confirm them.

Furthermore, pro-Kurdish sources were first to release the IRM video arguing that the group consisted of former al-Qaeda members. They also released the name of the supposed group leader: “Abu Osama al-Shami.” Syrian opposition and pro-al-Qaeda sources called the group fake. According to them, the video is just a coverup for actions by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG). Both groups prefer to distance themselves from acts of direct aggression against the Syrian military and the Turkish Army in northern Syria. In the public sphere, the YPG plays a victim oppressed by the bloody Assad regime and Erdogan the Invader. In reality, it already has a special brand created to distance the group from attacks on Turkish troops and proxies in Afrin – the Afrin Liberation Forces. The Turkish-rooted PKK pretends that it has no bases and fighters in the region despite the fact that a large part of YPG commanders and members is linked with the PKK.

Iran reportedly increased its military presence in southern Damascus. According to pro-opposition sources, the Shiite-majority area of Set Zaynab was turned into a stronghold of pro-Iranian forces. Syrian government sources deny these reports.

On the evening of March 26, Israel shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of Hezbollah, which allegedly violated “Israeli airspace”. The photo released by the Israeli military allows to identify the UAV as a modified variant of the commercially-available Skywalker X8. Armed groups across the entire Middle East modify such drones for combat purposes installing on them submunitions as well as use such UAVs for reconnaissance.

In Iraq, the United States withdrew its forces from the al-Qayyarah Air Base and handed it over to the Iraqi military. A spokesman for the US-led coalition, Col. Myles B. Caggins III, said hundreds of coalition troops will “temporarily” evacuate the base as a protective measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus. About 800 troops of the U.S.-led coalition were deployed at the airbase, which hosted approximately $1,7 million dollars worth of coalition equipment. The al-Qayyarah Air Base became the 2nd important military facility abandoned by US forces in March. The withdrawal of US troops from the previous one – al-Qaim – took place last week. These developments are being carried out under the pretext of the COVID-19 outbreak and the defeat of ISIS, but local sources link them with the increasing number of attacks on US forces across the country that the Pentagon cannot contain successfully without a large-scale military escalation.

White House Outlines 5G Security Strategy, Warns of ‘High-Risk’ Vendors

The Trump administration recently released a security strategy for 5G wireless network technology. The United States needs to lead the development of 5G standards, assess its vulnerabilities to hacking, and address national security dangers posed by “high-risk” 5G vendors, according to a document, titled “National Strategy to Secure 5G.”

The strategy makes no mention of who the “high-risk” 5G vendors might be, but the field of candidates is so narrow as to make clear the target is Huawei.

Washington has stressed that the Chinese company—founded in 1987 by a former People’s Liberation Army engineer—is an extension of the Chinese regime and that it assists Chinese intelligence. Huawei denies it.

The strategy refers to President Donald Trump’s May 2019 executive order, which “establishes the authorities to prohibit certain transactions that involve information and communications technology or services designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied by persons owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of a foreign adversary that pose an undue or unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States.”

To outmaneuver the Chinese regime in the 5G market, the United States will focus on leading the development of robust standards for 5G that would be quickly developed under “open and transparent processes.”

Regarding the hacking risks, the administration “will work with the private sector to identify, develop, and apply core security principles—best practices in cyber security, supply chain risk management, and public safety—to United States 5G infrastructure,” the strategy document says (pdf).

In addition, the United States will work to promote “vendor diversity,” the document says, including by the use of “incentives” and “accountability mechanisms.”

The diversity likely applies to the promotion of Huawei competitors. The two likely candidates would be Erricsson and Nokia, both advanced players in the 5G field and both floated before as companies that could be propped up to undercut Huawei.

It may be unrealistic for the companies to outcompete Huawei on their own. The Chinese giant has received some $75 billion in state subsidies from the Chinese regime, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The United States has gone to some lengths to exclude Huawei and other key Chinese players from its telecom infrastructure. On March 12, Trump signed the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act, which provides $1 billion to replace any equipment made by Huawei or ZTE, another Chinese company, used by rural telecom carriers in the United States.

Other countries, however, are not so eager. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Huawei will supply up to 35 percent of the country’s 5G communications infrastructure. Excluding Huawei would have delayed the 5G rollout and cost consumers more, Britain argued.

5G technology enables cell phone networks to reach data transmission bandwidth comparable to WiFi networks. However, it has a more limited reach, so it requires a denser web of cell towers. Aside from faster mobile internet, it’s expected to allow billions of other devices to be connected to the internet.

US Global Center on Propaganda Pivots to Address COVID-19 Disinformation

Foreign actors—namely China, Russia, and Iran—have been using the global pandemic to “exploit the information space for harmful purposes” according to the top official with the Global Engagement Center (GEC), which is dedicated to exposing and countering disinformation.

At a recent on-the-record briefing, special envoy Lea Gabrielle, the coordinator of the State Department’s GEC, said they have tracked narratives promoted by the three countries on the virus since January. One of the center’s main responsibilities is to keep the State Department’s leadership informed on the international information landscape.

Gabrielle spoke at length about the disinformation campaign launched by the Chinese Communist Party. She said they monitored China’s malign disinformation efforts to falsely blame the United States as the origin of the CCP virus, and their efforts to paint a picture of the CCP’s “supremacy” in handling the health crisis.

“What we’ve seen is the CCP mobilizing its global messaging apparatus, which includes state media as well as Chinese diplomats, to push out selected and localized versions of the same overarching false narratives,” she said at a March 27 teleconference.

“I will say that the information space is ever evolving,” she said, referring to Beijing’s disinformation efforts. “It’s been very fluid and China’s approach to it has been as well.”

One aspect the GEC is continuing to take note of and assess is the fact that they are seeing Russian, Chinese, and Iranian state information operations “converging around the same disinformation narrative themes about COVID-19” according to Gabrielle.

Maria Mercader, a CBS News journalist for three decades, died at age 54 from the coronavirus, CBS News announced Sunday.

Mercader worked on-air for CBS News as a breaking news reporter before she became director of talent strategy and worked on expanding the news division’s staff diversity. She started at CBS News in 1987 and soon worked at the foreign and national news desks, CBS News reported.

Have any autists tried to estimate COVID19 death rate to that of influenza yet?

Comments on method appreciated:

My ballpark estimate is that COVID-19 is 2.1 times as deadly as influenza (and likely lower since some places are assigning COVID19 as the cause of death all to freely).

The CDC published influenza death rates are based on the TOTAL ESTIMATED number

of infected based off of hospitalization rate using mathematical models(and not test confirmed cases). In 2018-2019, 35.5 M people in US were estimated to have been influenza infected.

But all we have for COVID19 is TEST CONFIRMED and not TOTAL ESTIMATED infected.

Has anyone seen total estimated US infected numbers for COVID19? I have not.

So in trying to compare apples-to-apples, I decided to use deaths to hospitalization rate because NY gave an estimate for test confirmed to those hospitalized(1) of 12% (that

is 12% of test confirmed cases were hospitalized).

US numbers for influenza (2018-19 season) and COVID-19 (as of 3/29/20):

34,200/490,600 = 6.97% (34K Influenza deaths/Influenza 490K hospitalizations)

2,409/136,880 = 1.76% (2,409 deaths/COVID-19 test confirmed)

But we want to compare deaths/hospitalization rates for flu and COVID-19 for a apples-to-apples comparison. Let's assume 12%(1) of current test confirmed COVID-19 cases are hospitalized. 12%(1) of US 136,880 test confirmed cases is 16,425 people in hospitalized in US:

2,409/16,425 = 14.67% (2,409 deaths/COVID-19 estimated hospitalizations)

So based on deaths to hospitalizations rate, we have:

14.67% (COVID19)/6.97% (flu) = 2.10

So COVID-19 is estimated to be about 2.1 times as deadly as influenza BASED on deaths to hospitalization rate.
