Attorney General Bill Barr traveled with President Trump to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday to survey the extensive damage by the far left rioters.

Last week Antifa-BLM ransacked, looted and destroyed the small midwestern community after a dangerous felon was shot several times in the back during an arrest.

Attorney General Bill Barr said mob rule will not be tolerated.

This must have been a huge blow to the Democrat Party.

AG Bill Barr also said officials are reviewing video in several cities and far left criminal rioters will be arrested.

Attorney General Bill Barr: We don not allow judgements to be reached because of mob violence. We do not have mob violence in this country make our decisions over the fate of individuals when their actions are challenged. The violence that erupted shortly after this shooting is simply not a legitimate response. We saw a hijacking of a protest by a hardcore group of radicals who were carrying out, planning a violent attack on law enforcement and that can’t be tolerated. There’s going to be accountability. What people don’t see that in all of these cities there are task forces and state officers reviewing all of the video that we can get our hands on. And when we are able to identify people who are committing crimes in these riots going all the way back to the beginning whether they are burning police cars or throwing rocks at people, which are deadly, they will be prosecuted. That’s a large scale effort and it’s going to continue.

Oregon Governor's New Portland Police Plan Goes up in Smoke as Neighboring Counties Say No Thanks

On Sunday, after internal polling became available the day after the deadly shooting of a Trump supporter in downtown Portland, Ore., Governor Kate Brown released a comprehensive policing plan to quell the riots. The plan called for federal, state, and county back-up support for the Portland Police Bureau. In addition to Oregon State Police, Brown’s plan requested the assistance of sheriff’s offices in neighboring Washington and Clackamas Counties. In a now-familiar pattern of incompetence, however, Brown failed to inform the other agencies of her request prior to going public. When informed of Brown’s plan, Washington County and Clackamas County both, not so politely, declined.

The statement from Washington County Sheriff Pat Garrett reads, in part:

At this time, I do not plan to send deputies to work directly in Portland. PPB is a terrific partner and I am very sympathetic to what they are enduring. However, the lack of political support for public safety, the uncertain legal landscape, the current volatility combined with intense scrutiny on use of force presents an unacceptable risk if deputies were deployed directly. Lastly, I support the steps outlined in the Joint Media Release by the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association and the Oregon Association of Chiefs of Police, and remain committed to work with partners and community leaders towards peace and an end to violence.

According to the Portland Tribune, Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts released a statement and answered questions about his decision:

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded with the following statement: “The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office will not be sending our staff into the city of Portland. We will assist the Oregon State Police with their calls for service in Clackamas County as needed while their resources are deployed in Portland.”

Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said Brown did not divulge her Unified Law Enforcement Plan with his agency before making it public. Roberts said if he had been made aware of it, “I would have told her it’s about changing policy not adding resources. Increasing law enforcement resources in Portland will not solve the nightly violence and now, murder. The only way to make Portland safe again is to support a policy that holds offenders accountable for their destruction and violence. That will require the DA to charge offenders appropriately and a decision by the Multnomah County Presiding Judge not to allow offenders released on their own recognizance, and instead require bail with conditions.”

US President Donald Trump spoke again about a plane filled with "the looters, the anarchists, the rioters," before boarding Air Force One in the Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, on Tuesday.

"I can probably refer you to the person, and they could do it. I'd like to ask that person if it was OK, but a person who was on a plane said that there were about six people like that person, more or less. And what happened is the entire plane filled up with the looters, the anarchists, the rioters, people that obviously were looking for trouble. And the person felt very uncomfortable in the plane," said Trump.

"This would be a person you know, so I will see whether or not I can get that person. I'll let them know and I'll see whether or not I can get that person to speak to you. But this was a firsthand account of a plane going from Washington to wherever, and I'll see if I can get that information for you. Maybe they'll speak to you, maybe they won't," he added.

During an interview on Monday, Trump commented on a suspected plane carrying people he referred to as "thugs" that was purportedly heading for the Republican National Convention in order to cause disruption.

No evidence has been found of Trump's allegations with many media outlets drawing parallels between the president's assertions and debunked rumours that surfaced on social media in June about black-clad left-wing demonstrators flying into Idaho in order to attack businesses.

Fort Hood Commander Removed From Post Amid Investigations Into Several Missing, Dead Soldiers

WASHINGTON — Gen. Michael X. Garrett, commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, is directing that Maj. Gen. John B. Richardson IV formally assume duties as deputy commanding general for operations of III Corps and acting senior commander of Fort Hood on Sept. 2. This previously-scheduled change in leadership will enable continuity of command as III Corps returns from its role leading the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve.

Maj. Gen. Richardson previously served as FORSCOM’s director of operations from 2019-2020, and was selected in March 2020 by the Department of the Army to serve as the next DCG for III Corps.

Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt will continue to serve as the deputy commanding general for support and will remain at Fort Hood to assist with the reintegration of III Corps as they return from their mission supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

With Maj. Gen. Efflandt remaining at Fort Hood, the Army will announce the name of a new commander for the 1st Armored Division, which Efflandt had previously been designated to lead. That announcement is expected in the coming days.

The Army also announced that Garrett will appoint Gen. John Murray, commanding general of Army Futures Command, and one of the Army’s most senior commanders to lead an in-depth investigation into the chain of command actions related to the death of Spc. Vanessa Guillen.

There are currently several investigations underway at Fort Hood which are tasked with reviewing a wide range of topics and concerns. Gen. Murray will roll those efforts into a more complete and comprehensive investigation that will delve into all activities and levels of leadership.

Murray’s investigation, which will be conducted under the provisions of Army Regulation 15-6, is separate from the Independent Review of Fort Hood, which began in August.

CISA and FBI say they have not seen cyber-attacks this year on voter registration databases

CISA and the FBI issue a joint statement about election and voter database hacking threats after a misleading article in Russian media today.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said today that they have not seen any cyber-attacks target US voter registration databases and voting systems this year.

The two agencies issued a joint statement today after an article in Russian media had gone viral earlier this morning.

The article, published by Russian news agency Kommersant, claimed that a Russian hacker had obtained voter records for more than 7.6 million Michigan voters following an intrusion into the state's database earlier this year, in March.

According to Kommersant, the hacker also claimed to be in possession of voter records for Connecticut, Arkansas, Florida, and North Carolina voters, but in smaller numbers, and was making all the databases available for free on a hacking forum since July.

While most voter records in US states are available for free, the hacker claimed that at least the Michigan voter database contained fields that were meant to be private, such as emails and dates of birth.

CISA and the FBI say there was no hack

But in a joint statement published on Twitter today, CISA and the FBI claim that such a hack never happened. In fact, they haven't seen any cyber-intrusions into election systems at all.

"CISA and the FBI have not seen cyber-attacks this year on voter registration databases or on any systems involving voting," the two agencies said.

Furthermore, later in the day, Michigan and Connecticut state officials have also denied claims that they've been hacked, in statements released to NBC News reporter Kevin Collier.

The two states also reminded US voters that their respective voter databases are public, and anyone can obtain them for free, or by filing an FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, effectively calling the Kommersant report a non-story.

Nonetheless, this didn't stop today's Kommersant article going viral and causing panic among some US voters, with the report trending on Twitter US at one point earlier this morning.

The ludicrousness of thousands of Americans sharing a story from a Russian news site without questioning its reporting or authenticity was punctuated later in the day when both Facebook and Twitter announced they shut down a Russian-sponsored news site for misleading articles on US politics.

Powerful Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Strikes Northern Chile - EMSC

Early readings of the Tuesday phenomenon from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) recorded a magnitude 6.5 earthquake off the shore of Atacama, Chile.

The center's Twitter account revealed that the earthquake struck some 129 kilometers southwest of the Chilean city of Copiapó. Initial seismograph readings were revised from magnitude 6.3 to magnitude 6.5 within the first hour after the event.

The possibility of the event triggering a tsunami has been ruled out by the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy.

Eyewitness footage, like that of Twitter user Sebastian Antonio Tirado Rufatt, has provided netizens with a glimpse of the quake

Spanish-language testimonials spanning more than 600 kilometers from the quake's epicenter have claimed the quake was noticeable and on the stronger side.

Hours prior, Chile's northern coast was assaulted by a magnitude 6.8 earthquake, the EMSC reported. The event was followed by several aftershocks, one of which reached magnitude 6.3.

Philadelphia Mayor Shamed After Eating Indoors In Maryland While His City Remains Shut Down

In yet another example of liberal hypocrisy, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney is being shamed by his city - whose restaurants he has barred from operating - and forced to apologize after he was spotted dining indoors in Maryland, without a mask, while his city remains shut down. Restaurant owners in the city are irate.

A photograph of Kenney went viral early this week and the mayor's office later confirmed that Kenney was visiting a "friend's restaurant" on Sunday, according to ABC Philadelphia.

Well known Philadelphia restauranteur Marc Vetri unloaded on the mayor on Instagram, writing: "Glad you’re enjoying indoor dining with no social distancing or mask wearing in Maryland tonight while restaurants here in Philly close, suffer and fight for every nickel just to survive. I guess all your press briefings and your narrative of unsafe indoor dining don’t apply to you. Thank you for clearing it all up for us tonight."

Another Philadelphia bar operator commented on a Facebook post about the photo of Kenney: "This took some balls. This f*cker should be flagged from every bar and restaurant in the city."

Meanwhile, indoor dining in Philadelphia isn't set to resume until September 8, with several restrictions and a 25% capacity limit. Kenney has "staunchly stood by" his decision to wait until that date to resume indoor dining. Kenney said earlier this month: "We need to follow what we are being asked to do by the health department. I beg you to follow the rules."

The mayor's office commented on the photo:

"The mayor went to Maryland earlier today to patronize a restaurant owned by a friend of his. For what it's worth, he also went to Rouge to enjoy outdoor dining in Philly on the way home. He looks forward to expanding indoor dining locally next week.

Throughout the pandemic the Mayor has consistently deferred to the guidance of the Health Commissioner, who in this case felt strongly about waiting until Sept. 8 to resume indoor dining. If elected officials at the federal level had similarly deferred to health experts over the past five months, this might not even be an issue by now.

Of course we understand the frustrations of local restaurant owners who have been among the hardest hit by the pandemic. But there are 782 total cases in the county the mayor briefly visited, compared to over 33,000 cases in Philadelphia. Drastically different circumstances."

But the backlash was so prominent, Kenney eventually took to Twitter to offer up a mea culpa:

"I'm sorry if my decision hurt those who've worked to keep their businesses going under difficult circumstances," he wrote.

Elvis Presley’s Graceland Vandalized with ‘Black Lives Matter,’ ‘Defund Police’ Graffiti

Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, has been vandalized with “Black Lives Matter” graffiti, as well as leftist slogans “Defund the Police “Abolish ICE,” and “Fuck Trump.”

“The wall outside @VisitGraceland in #Memphis where #Elvis fans write their names and tributes to The King was vandalized overnite,” wrote WMC Action News 5’s Joyce Peterson Tuesday on Twitter. “#BlackLivesMatter #DefundMPD #AbolishIce & #BreonnaTaylor were spray painted all over the wall.”

Graceland was once owned by Elvis Presley. It has been owned by his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, since the rock legend’s death in 1977.

Vandals also hit the Levitt Shell in Overton Park, leaving graffiti that contained messages such “Fuck Trump” and “Fuck Strickland,” — the later in reference to Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland — as well a s “BLM,” “Defund MPD” — which stands for Memphis Police Department — and “Eat the Rich,” among other phrases, according to a report by The Commercial Appeal.

The Levitt Shell in Overton Park is the venue where Presley performed his first-ever paid concert.

The report added that the graffiti had also covered up a lot of the handwritten messages that have already been on the wall, which include “words of love and devotion to Elvis, penned in ink, felt-tip marker and paint by fans of the singer, often while standing in line to visit the Elvis grave during the annual ‘Candlelight Vigil.'”

By mid-morning on Tuesday, workers with power-wash equipment were removing the graffiti on the Graceland mansion, according to the Commercial Appeal.

Renters in U.S. cannot be evicted through the end of the year due to coronavirus, CDC order states

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention implemented a temporary eviction moratorium through the end of the year, protecting U.S. renters from losing their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trump administration announced Tuesday. The CDC’s moratorium will apply to all rental units nationwide until Dec. 31 and goes into effect immediately, senior administration officials said of an unpublished CDC agency order. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told a U.S. House of Representatives panel Tuesday that the moratorium would cover around 40 million renters.

A previous federal eviction moratorium created by the CARES Act ended in late July and only applied to federally-funded housing, including rental units with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae FNMA, -1.33% and Freddie Mac FMCC, -1.78% . The moratorium will apply to any state in which there is not already a more protective ban in effect, according to the order. Multiple states have eviction moratoriums in place, including California, which established new rules in a late-night vote Monday.

Renters will be eligible for the moratorium’s protection if they received an economic impact payment, or stimulus check, as provided for by the CARES Act. Therefore, single renters must earn no more than $99,000 a year, while couples filing jointly can earn up to $198,000 annually.

On Sunday, DNI John Ratcliffe said on Fox News Sunday that he was coordinating with U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review of the investigation into the non-existent links between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign. He said that he’d be declassifying additional documents soon: “I pledged to a bipartisan group of senators that I would look at all of the underlying intelligence surrounding the intelligence community’s assessment of Russia’s interference and this idea of Trump-Russia collusion,” Ratcliffe told “Sunday Morning Futures.” “But I’m not going to prejudice John Durham’s work in connection with that, so we’ve had to coordinate with his office about the timing of that. But I’m optimistic that I’ll be declassifying additional documents soon.”

During an appearance on Newsmax TV Monday, former Acting DNI Ric Grenell gave a preview of what to expect. According to Grenell, Ratcliffe’s congressional intelligence briefings will expose leakers and end how the leaking of cherry picked intel has been weaponized.

Grenell told host John Bachman: “We have a problem in Washington: They like to take the information that they get and spoon feed it to the public in nefarious ways publicly. But, when they’re under oath, they say completely the opposite. By putting it in writing, it’s going to be very difficult to pick and choose, cherry pick to reporters, the information.”

Of Adam Schiff, Grenell said “He is doing what he always does, which is leak one-sided information that creates just a false narrative,” saying Schiff is “focusing on a problem while ignoring the crisis” for political purposes. “We all know this and Adam Schiff can’t say it,” Grenell continued about the “crisis” with China vs. the mere social media propaganda from Russia. “He has to gloss over it, because it’s not good for Biden or the Democrats when the Communist Party of China outright wants them to win.”

Ratcliffe has announced he would no longer feed classified intelligence to Schiff in a verbal briefing, instead putting it all on paper and creating a paper trail — one that might also help expose the criminal leaks of classified intelligence.

“What Adam Schiff says on CNN and MSNBC is not what people tell us under oath,” Grenell said. “When they leak something verbally to a reporter, there’s no paper trail, and the reporter and you get to say, ‘oh, I don’t know where we got this’ and pretend like it’s a credible source.”

Grenell issued a caution to reporters: Do not take Schiff or his staffers’ word for it any longer. Ask to see the documents.

“You should know now the intelligence briefing is written, and you should ask, if you’re a reporter, ‘let me have the full context, let me have the full writing, because I know it’s in writing,'” Grenell said.

Last week Trump accused Schiff of leaking classified material. “Director Ratcliffe brought information into the committee and the information leaked. Whether it was Shifty Schiff or somebody else, they leaked the information,” Trump said. “And what’s even worse, they leaked the wrong information. And he got tired of it.”

President Trumps’ ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations have run to ground and deported over 2,000 foreign national rapists, child molesters, murders, kidnappers, domestic abusers, and rioters in one of the largest round-ups of illegal criminal aliens to date. WASHINGTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Tuesday the results of recent enforcement actions targeting removable aliens who have been arrested for, or have pending charges or convictions, for crimes involving victims.

“The aliens targeted during this operation preyed on men, women and children in our communities, committing serious crimes and, at times, repeatedly hurting their victims,” said Senior Official Performing the Duties of the ICE Director Tony H. Pham. “By focusing our efforts on perpetrators of crimes against people, we’re able to remove these threats from our communities and prevent future victimization from occurring. Through our targeted enforcement efforts, we are eliminating the threat posed by these criminals, many of whom are repeat offenders.”

Data captured from July 13 to Aug. 20 shows that ICE officers arrested more than 2,000 at-large individuals living illegally in the U.S., or who are removable from the U.S. due to their criminal histories. About 85 percent of those arrested by ICE on immigration charges also had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.

Many had multiple criminal convictions and pending charges for crimes committed against victims. (Note: these numbers represent criminal charges and convictions, not individuals. Individuals can have multiple criminal charges and convictions.) Those crimes included:

388 convictions and 386 pending charges for assault – including simple assault, battery against family and non-family members and assault against law enforcement;

291 convictions and 216 pending charges for domestic violence;

136 convictions and 63 pending charges for family offenses – including neglect and cruelty towards a spouse or child;

There are 4 key pieces of information to help Americans understand the significance of what the CDC admitted on August 26, 2020.

“For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death.”

1. For 17 Years, Medical Examiners, Coroners, and Physicians have been using nationwide guidelines for reporting fatalities with comorbidities. The guidelines were published by the CDC in 2003 and have been so effective that they haven’t needed to update them. These guidelines are known as

Medical Examiners’ and Coroners’ Handbook on Death Registration and Fetal Death Reporting & the Physicians’ Handbook on Medical Certification of Death.

2. On March 9th, the CDC admittedly knew that the highest risk and greatest number of fatalities would come from Americans over 60 WITH comorbidities, yet inexplicably did not make the data collection on this a point of emphasis nationwide. As a result, and as we have been reporting on weekly since April 5th, 2020, only 7 states are currently publishing data on comorbidities in a way that can be analyzed statistically. These states are NY, MA, PA, OK, IA, UT, GA.

If the CDC knew, then why wouldn’t they make the collection of this data a point of emphasis nationwide?

3. Instead on March 24th, the CDC decided to discard the use of the medical examiner’s, coroner’s, and physician’s handbooks that have been proven and in use for 17 years in favor of an unproven new method exclusively for COVID-19 ,that both emphasized COVID-19 reporting at the top of part 1 of death certificate reporting, while also de-emphasizing comorbidity reporting by relegating it shockingly to part 2 of the death certificate.

For context, the CDC’s 2003 Handbooks are very clear that comorbidities should be listed in part 1 of the death certificate for accurate statistical counting and any initiating/contributing factors such as an infection like the H1N1 Flu virus or the SARS-CoV-2 virus would be listed at the bottom of part 1 or more correctly in part 2.

Why such an abrupt reversal exclusively for COVID-19? And why move to a new reporting system that is unproven and was never peer-reviewed? Why do this during a crisis?

4. On August 26th the CDC confirmed that what the COVID Research Team had estimated to be 90.2% on July 24th was actually much higher. Incredibly, 94% of all COVID-19 Fatalities have on average 2.6 comorbidities. AND IN EACH CASE THE COMORBIDITIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTED IN PART 1 OF THE DEATH CERTIFICATE AS THE CAUSE OF DEATH…and COVID-19 should have been listed correctly as the initiating/contributing factor NOT THE CAUSE OF DEATH. :)

This is a crucial distinction and explains exactly why our fatality counts are so dramatically higher than all other countries in the world. As Dr. Birx said, “Unlike Some Countries, "If Someone Dies With COVID-19 We Are Counting That As A COVID-19 Death."

That means is doesn't matter if the American was over 80, had 2.6 comorbidities on average, or even died due to injuries or poisoning, as 5,133 Americans did according to the CDC. They are still going to get counted as caused by COVID-19.

And even with such unproven methods of reporting, we know that Americans under 70 have a collective 99.05% recovery rate and 5,382,345 Americans have recovered as of August 30th.

All other countries used their standard method of cause of death reporting similar to what the CDC published in their 2003 Handbooks…while the CDC dramatically changed how cause of death is reported exclusively for COVID-19.

Here’s a key excerpt from the CDC’s 2003 Medical Examiners’ and Coroners’ Handbook on Death Registration and Fetal Death Reporting.

“Because statistical data derived from death certificates can be no more accurate than the information provided on the certificate, it is very important that all persons concerned with the registration of deaths strive not only for complete registration, but also for accuracy and promptness in reporting these events.”

“The principal responsibility of the medical examiner or coroner in death registration is to complete the medical part of the death certificate.”

“The cause-of-death section consists of two parts. Part I is for reporting a chain of events leading directly to death, with the immediate cause of death (the final disease, injury, or complication directly causing death) online (a) and the underlying cause of death (the disease or injury that initiated the chain of events [SARS-CoV-2 in this case] that led directly and inevitably to death) on the lowest used line. Part II is for reporting all other significant diseases, conditions, or injuries that contributed to death but which did not result in the underlying cause of death given in Part I.”

In the presence of comorbidity, Part 2 is where H1N1 or any infective disease would likely be listed and therefore the initiating factor would not be statistically counted as a CAUSE of death, but rather something that CONTRIBUTED to death.

How unscientific and illogical can the CDC be during a crisis? Telling medical examiners, coroners, and physicians that ‘COVID-19 will be the underlying cause more often than not’ AND ‘If the decedent had other chronic conditions such as COPD or asthma that may have also contributed, these conditions can be reported in Part II.’

The CDC is directly saying COVID-19 will be the CAUSE of death even if it is only presumed to be present and that comorbidities will be the CONTRIBUTING FACTOR of death even though this is in DIRECT CONFLICT with their 2003 published handbooks.

In Unprecedented Move, CDC Halts Most Rental Evictions Until End Of 2020

In an unprecedented move on Tuesday, with Congress unable to reach a common ground on virtually any stimulus extension, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention unveiled today it would temporarily - at least through the end of 2020 - suspend most rental evictions for Americans struggling to pay rent due to the pandemic, in a step which CNN dubbed was "broader than eviction protections already in place." The move comes as negotiations on further coronavirus aid have been stalled as Republicans and Democrats refuse to budge on topline numbers for what a new relief package would cost.

In a phone call with reporters, officials said the order will apply to Americans who qualified for direct payments under the CARES Act.

To be sure there are some hurdles: renters will have to prove that they’ve taken "best efforts possible to seek government assistance to make their rental payments," and will have to "declare that they are unable to pay rent due to Covid financial hardship," and must show they "will likely become homeless or move into congregate housing settings if they are evicted", but that should not be a problem for anyone willing to live rent free indefinitely.

Renters will also have to fill out several forms, found on the CDC’s website, and give them directly to their landlords to qualify for the program.

"This will be a declaration presented to the landlord, if that landlord approaches a tenant with an intent to evict,” an official said. Because the move is federally mandated, it “would become a criminal offence” if the landlord chose to ignore the declaration. But it could still end up in courts, possibly leading to legal actions that could show up on background checks or credit reports.

And while landlords are being effectively stripped of most if not all of their rights with this extraordinary intervention, they will still be able to remove tenants for "committing criminal acts, threatening the health and safety of other residents, damaging property or other health and safety considerations," an official added although good luck getting through to the local police station and reporting a crime in a country where defunding the local law enforcement is seen as the pinnacle of progressive thought.

"To the extent that there is a dispute between the landlord and the renter about whether or not an eviction protection is in place here, it can be filed, and that would be for the local courts, which are not federal to adjudicate,” an official said, without clarifying how long before defunding the local courts becomes the next progressive ideal. On the other hand, in places like Portland they won't even have to do that: after all, everyone arrested for rioting is released the next day with the blessing of the judicial branch so they can resume rioting post haste.

Under the CARES Act, only renters in federally-backed rental units were protected from eviction. “This covers any rental unit in United States, so long as the renter meets those requirements, where they've demonstrated that they are at risk of becoming evicted,” an official said. There’s also currently a moratorium on evictions for federally-backed, single family home mortgages.

By the numbers: Under one of the group’s modeling scenarios, Trump could hold a projected lead of 408-130 electoral votes on election night, if only 15% of the vote by mail (VBM) ballots had been counted.

Once 75% of mail ballots were counted, perhaps four days later, the lead could flip to Biden’s favor.

This particular modeling scenario portrays Biden as ultimately winning a massive victory, 334-204.

The scenario is eerily similar to Farage’s forewarning of how “dark art operatives in the Democrats” are intent on “abusing” mail-in ballots to secure a victory for Biden. Farage noted President Trump would “absolutely” win the Electoral College but warned of Democrats weaponizing mail-in ballots in the following days:

AntiFa and their allies are closely on hand to help them and I’ll get into that in a second. […] No wonder they wanted the police neutered and defunded so quickly. They want lawlessness. They want carnage,” he continued.

The words of Hawkfish’s CEO serve as a testament to Kassam’s conviction that “Biden, Clinton, and the gang will march the Open Society Foundations “experts” in front of Congress one day after the election and refuse to accept the result. They’ll claim every victimhood status under the sun and they’ll lie, cheat, and steal to drag a process on beyond inauguration day.”

And The National Pulse has been highlighting a potential proxy – the Transition Integrity Project – to wage this democracy-subverting warfare.

The project presents itself as a bipartisan bulwark against President Trump refusing to concede the election should he lose; however, the effort is filled to the brim with establishment, anti-Trump figures like Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign Chair and Obama-era Counselor John Podesta, Never Trump Republican National Committee (RNC) Head Michael Steele, and acting chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Donna Brazile who leaked presidential debate questions to Clinton in 2016.

The Transition Integrity Project is also in lockstep with establishment media figures and “people who had worked for big tech companies.”

Its founders have links to George Soros’s Open Society Foundation as well as the Berggruen Institute, a think tank linked to the Chinese Communist Party – a government that has similarly expressed a preference for Biden in the 2020 election.

Highlighted by The New York Times, the group notoriously held war games where Biden refused to concede the election, prompting states to threaten secession if President Trump assumed office:

Penning a piece entitled “Three Ways to Get Rid of President Trump Before 2020” in Foreign Policy just 10 days after his inauguration, Brooks declared “four years seems like a long time to wait,” and plotted several methods to see the duly-elected president removed.

She championed impeachment, reveling in weaponizing the seldom-used maneuver without any evidence of an actual crime: “If impeachment seems like a fine solution to you, the good news is that Congress doesn’t need evidence of actual treason or murder to move forward with an impeachment: Practically anything can be considered a “high crime or misdemeanor.”

She also floats the prospect of “a military coup, or at least a refusal by military leaders to obey certain orders.”

Brooks also serves as a fellow at the New America Foundation (NAF), which enjoys financial backing from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Google. NAF’s CEO Anne Marie Slaughter served as Director of Policy Planning in the Obama administration and the foundation’s board features individuals like Fareed Zakaria, a CNN host and Washington Post contributor who was recently exposed by the National Pulse for collaborating with a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) funded “Marxist journalism” school.

Gilman serves as the Vice President of Programs at the Berggruen Institute which hosts the Berggruen China Center and has funneled tens of millions of dollars into CCP-run universities such as Peking University – merely scratching the surface of the institute’s CCP overtures.

The result of the war game?

Grindr sold by Chinese owner after US raised national security concerns

Five month old news but I heard nothing About this until now so...

Chinese gaming giant Beijing Kunlun has agreed to sell popular gay dating app Grindr for about $608 million, ending a tumultuous four years under Chinese ownership.

Reuters reports that the Chinese company sold its 98% stake in Grindr to a U.S.-based company, San Vicente Acquisition Partners.

The app, originally developed in Los Angeles, raised national security concerns after it was acquired by Beijing Kunlun in 2016 for $93 million. That ownership was later scrutinized by a U.S. government national security panel, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), which reportedly told the Beijing-based parent company that its ownership of Grindr constituted a national security threat.

CFIUS expressed concern that data from the app’s some 27 million users could be used by the Chinese government. Last year, it was reported that while under Chinese ownership, Grindr allowed engineers in Beijing access to the personal data of millions of U.S. users, including their private messages and HIV status.

Beijing Kunlun had agreed to sell the unit by June.

Little is known about San Vicente Acquisition, but a person with knowledge of the deal said that the company is made up of a group of investors that’s fully owned and controlled by Americans. Reuters said that one of those investors is James Lu, a former executive at Chinese search giant Baidu.

“I felt someone trying to yank on it, the top part of the slide. They’re yanking on it really hard. After the second or third jerk, the gun goes off," Aaron S. Collins, 38, told The Oregonian/OregonLive, describing how he unintentionally shot a man later identified as Michael Reinoehl on July 26, 2020 in downtown Portland.

Reinoehl gave his account soon after the July 26 encounter to a Bloomberg videographer but now the man whose gun went off and wounded Reinoehl has come forward with his version of what happened that Sunday night.

Portland police are continuing to investigate the skirmish that sent both Reinoehl and the owner of the gun to the hospital. They have made no arrests.

The confrontation was the second time that month that Reinoehl was involved with a gun in downtown. He had been cited by police July 5 for allegedly having a loaded gun in public, though by the end of the month prosecutors had dropped the charge.

Reinoehl’s wounding occurred after a brawl began in Lownsdale Square, the city park across the street from the federal courthouse – the site in July of nearly nightly showdowns between protesters against police violence and federal officers whose ranks were boosted by the Trump administration to protect the building.

Joining the fight was a man who ended up getting arrested in a separate assault in August, accused of kicking another man in the head and knocking him unconscious on Southwest Broadway. The attack was caught on video and went viral.

The July 26 clash where the gun went off began when Aaron Scott Collins, 38, said he and a friend left Kells Irish Pub downtown and walked into Lownsdale Square. Collins, who has a concealed weapons permit, was carrying a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun in a holster on his hip.

Collins said his friend used a cellphone to start filming a group of youths of color who appeared to be harassing an older Black man on a park bench.

“Somebody said, ’He’s recording us. He’s a Nazi. Get his phone,” Collins told The Oregonian/OregonLive.

The crowd turned on Collins and his friend, kicking and striking them, he said.

At one point, as the two men moved into Southwest Salmon Street, Collins said he was struck in the head from behind with a skateboard and fell. People were trying to take the gun from his holster while he was down, he said.

Collins knelt on the ground, balancing on his left hand and reaching for his gun with his right hand, he said. He was trying to make sure no one would take it, he said.

“My gun was halfway out of its holster. I decided to take it out at that point as I’m being attacked,” Collins said.

He took the gun out of the holster, brought it in front of him and tried to keep it trained toward the ground, he said.

Reinoehl had by then joined the fray and tried to grab the slide of the pistol, Collins said. As Reinoehl moved to take the gun, it discharged, Collins said.

“I realized people were trying to pull the gun out of my hand. I compressed my finger around the grip of the gun, under the trigger guard. I’m fighting for physical control of the gun,’' Collins said. “I felt someone trying to yank on it, the top part of the slide. They’re yanking on it really hard. After the second or third jerk, the gun goes off.”

People immediately scattered, Collins said. He didn’t know anyone had been hurt, he said.

Collins’ friend helped Collins out of the street to the sidewalk by the corner of Southwest Salmon Street and Fourth Avenue. Collins still had his gun.

But some people followed them, tackled Collins from behind and he fell to his knees. The gun went skidding out in front of him and he tried to dive to hold onto it, he said.

Collins said his friend told people that Collins legally owned the gun and just wanted to leave.

“I’m pinned there,” Collins said. “People are yelling, ‘Drop the gun. Kill these Nazis! We are white. We are tattooed. I’m not a white supremacist. I have conservative leanings, but I try to keep them to myself and play nice with everybody.’’

Someone took the magazine out of the pistol and another man tried to stand on the gun, Collins said.

The crowd of people attacking him – about a dozen, he estimated - included Marquise Love, the man now accused of kicking another man in the head and knocking him out on Aug. 16, Collins said.

Collins decided to let go of his gun and ran from the crowd, he said, heading west, then north on Southwest Fourth Avenue.

“I was scared at the moment they were going to take it and use it on me,” he said.

Police had arrived by then, about 7:30 p.m., and ordered him to the ground, Collins said. He was taken by ambulance to OHSU Hospital.

Collins, at 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds, said he suffered a concussion and was bleeding from his lip. He told police his gun was missing and that his and his friend’s cellphones had been stolen. Collins said earlier that night he drank two shots of bourbon within an hour at Kells.

Reinoehl, 48, arrived at a local hospital by a private car that night, according to police.

The next day, on a Bloomberg QuickTake news video, Reinoehl was interviewed while standing across the street from the Multnomah County Justice Center downtown, a bloodied bandage wrapped around his arm above his elbow.

During the interview, he said he’d been shot through his arm in an altercation between a man and a group of minors, though he said he wasn’t sure what started it. He said he tried to wrest a man’s gun away.

“I jumped in there and pulled the gun away … and I got shot through the arm,” he said.

Collins, who lives in Colton, does delivery work for Amazon, helps make ammunition for a private company and had been a Uber driver until the coronavirus pandemic hit, said he wasn’t aware anyone had been hit by the shot from his gun until the day after the incident.

Collins’ gun hasn’t been recovered, police said. Detectives are continuing to conduct interviews and investigate.

Collins said he’s still suffering from the concussion and in “shock and awe” about what unfolded. He’s sorry anyone was shot and wounded, he said, but doesn’t believe Reinoehl “had any right to disarm me.”

In Reinoehl’s video interview, “he admits that he had no idea what was going on” but got involved, Collins noted.

During a protest on July 5, Reinoehl was cited for having a loaded gun in a public place after a struggle with police about 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Southwest Main Street.

During the struggle, a 9mm handgun dropped from Reinoehl and police seized the pistol, according to police. The citation was later dropped, though it’s unclear if Reinoehl ever got that 9mm gun back. Police have not said whether Reinoehl sought to get his gun back and have not responded to an Oregonian/OregonLive public records request for the July 5 police report.

Reinoehl also is wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court, issued out of Baker County on July 8 in a speed racing case from June. On June 8, he and his 17-year-old son were racing in two different cars at speeds of up to 111 mph heading east on Interstate 84 near North Powder, according to state police. He was stopped driving a Cadillac with his 11-year-old daughter as a passenger, police said. Inside the car, police said they found marijuana, “unidentified prescription pills” and a loaded Glock pistol for which Reinoehl didn’t have a concealed handgun license, police said.

He faces allegations including driving under the influence of a controlled substance, recklessly endangering another, unlawful possession of a gun and driving while suspended and uninsured.

On the night of August 17, Reinoehl also was spotted on videotape with an antagonistic crowd outside the 7-Eleven store on Southwest Fourth Avenue, events that led up to Love’s alleged assault on a pickup driver later that night.

Video of Saturday night’s fatal shooting on Southwest Third Avenue shows a man matching Reinoehl’s description at the scene and running away. Reinoehl’s sister said she identified Reinoehl to police as the man in the video. Reinoehl social media posts says he supports the Black Lives Matter movement and show him attending recent protests. He describes himself as “100% Antifa.”

Aaron “Jay” Danielson, 39, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. He had attended a car caravan in support of Donald Trump earlier Saturday. He was wearing a ballcap with the insignia of Patriot Prayer, a right-wing group that has been at the center of a series of street brawls with antifa opponents.

Witnesses to the shooting described yelling between some men who encountered each other on the street about 8:45 p.m., one of them spraying mace or a similar stinging chemical and then two shots.

No arrest has been made.

Enemies list? State Department monitored 13 Americans' social media in possible legal violation

Memos detail effort to monitor social media of Fox News personalities Hannity, Ingraham and Dobbs, as well as president's son Don. Jr. and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Officials at the U.S. embassy in Kiev ordered the monitoring of 13 prominent Americans' social media accounts during the early days of the Ukraine scandal in spring 2019 and later were informed their activities potentially violated the Privacy Act, according to State Department memos made public on Tuesday.

The memos, released under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by the conservative watchdog Judicial Watch, show those targeted for monitoring included President Trump's eldest son, Don Jr., the president's personal lawyer and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Fox News personalities Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Lou Dobbs. This reporter was one of the 13 individuals on the list targeted.

The U.S. ambassador at the time, Marie Yovanovitch, and one of her top deputies, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent, were apprised of the social media monitoring, emails show.

Embassy officials used search terms indicating they were interested in social media posts involving the ambassador, liberal megadonor George Soros, and the controversy around Joe Biden and Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian gas company engulfed in a corruption controversy that hired the vice president's son Hunter in 2014. State officials testified during last year's impeachment proceedings that the Bidens' role in Ukraine created an uncomfortable appearance of a conflict of interest that undercut U.S. efforts to fight corruption inside Ukraine.

"Key thing is to get up to ramming speed from the get go," Kent wrote in a March 27, 2019 email that discussed the social media monitoring efforts, which appear to have been prompted by early stories about the embassy's activities with Ukrainian prosecutors and the Bidens at The Hill newspaper (written by this reporter) and on Fox News.

The same day, Yovanovitch received an email updating her on the social media monitoring.

"Thanks Ambassador — I just wanted you to be aware as we are really trying to help them and recognize how hard everyone is working in this especially trying time," an official whose name was redacted wrote Yovanovitch. "The good news is our social media team back here is now helping to provide them with the reports they want when Kyiv is asleep/offline — through existing PD tools — so this should greatly help."

Zoom Shares Soar Over 40% As Workers Stay Home During Coronavirus Pandemic

Shares of Zoom Video Communications (ZM) soared over 40% on Tuesday after the video-conferencing platform released its second-quarter fiscal 2021 earnings report Monday afternoon.

The company reported Q2 revenue growth of 355% year-over-year as employees across the world worked from home and used the Zoom platform to remotely communicate with colleagues during the coronavirus pandemic.

The pandemic has led several employers to keep their workers home even as stay-at-home orders eased to help prevent the spread of the virus. Amazon announced that workers would not return to the office until at least January 2021, and Google has said that it doesn’t expect workers to return until July 2021. Twitter announced that its employees could continue to work remotely “forever.”

The massive increase in revenue for Zoom caused it to raise its revenue outlook for fiscal 2021 to $2.39 billion, up from the $2.37 billion, or a 284% increase, up from 281%, year-over-year as was previously reported by the company. Total revenue for the company for the quarter was $663.5 million.

“Organizations are shifting from addressing their immediate business continuity needs to supporting a future of working anywhere, learning anywhere, and connecting anywhere on Zoom's video-first platform,” Zoom founder and CEO Eric S. Yuan said in a statement.

Zoom’s total cash, cash equivalents, and markets securities as of July 31 were $1.5 billion with a net cash flow of $401.3 million for the quarter compared to $31.2 million for fiscal Q2 2020. Free cash flow was $373.4 million compared to $17.1 million for Q2 a year ago.

Zoom reported that it had about 370,200 customers with more than 10 employees, which was up 458% from the same time last year.

Future guidance for the company for fiscal Q3 2021 included revenue between $685 million and $690 million and a full-year fiscal 2021.

Shares of Zoom were trading at $453.38 as of 10:34 a.m. EDT, up $128.28 or $39.46%.

China seeks nuclear weapons and bases 'to support offensive operations' against US

China plans to have 200 nuclear warheads capable of reaching the American homeland “in the next five years,” according to Pentagon analysis detailing the communist power’s growing ability “to support offensive operations" against the United States. The report also contains the Pentagon estimate of the size of China’s nuclear arsenal. “Over the next decade, China’s nuclear warhead stockpile — currently estimated to be in the low 200s — is projected to at least double in size as China expands and modernizes its nuclear forces,” the report said. “China has already achieved parity with — or even exceeded — the United States in several military modernization areas,” the Pentagon’s 2020 report on China’s military power states. That observation introduces an extensive comparison of China’s military arsenal, replete with figures suggesting that the People’s Liberation Army has grown stronger in some respects even than the U.S. military. The report dovetails with recent congressional warnings that China could defeat American forces in the Pacific, chiefly through the combination of naval and missile power fortified by a bristling network of surface-to-air defense batteries. “The PRC has the largest navy in the world, with an overall battle force of approximately 350 ships,” the report says, using the acronym for the People’s Republic of China. “In comparison, the U.S. Navy’s battle force is approximately 293 ships as of early 2020. China is the top ship-producing nation in the world by tonnage and is increasing its shipbuilding capacity and capability for all naval classes.”

The 200 nuclear warhead total is lower, though, than some security experts would have predicted given the recent effort by American diplomats to bring China into arms control treaties with the U.S. and Russia. “The doubling is from a much lower number than most people would have assumed, and so, even if the number doubled, it’s still going to be well below the number of nuclear warheads that the U.S. and Russia have in their arsenal,” the American Enterprise Institute’s Zack Cooper said. “So, I think there are going to be more questions about whether this is going to make sense to include China in the nuclear discussions that Russia and the U.S. are considering at the moment.” That said, the report also notes that China is developing the missiles needed to deliver those warheads to the U.S. “The PRC is developing new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) that will significantly improve its nuclear-capable missile forces,” the analysis warns. “The number of warheads on the PRC’s land-based ICBMs capable of threatening the United States is expected to grow to roughly 200 in the next five years.”

The report revealed Pentagon estimates of the size of China’s nuclear forces for the first time because the shift suggests a change in how nuclear weapons fit into China’s military strategy, according to one of the Defense Department’s top officials for China. “An ability to double the stockpile not only demonstrates a move away from their historical minimum deterrence posture but places them in a position where they can readily grow their force beyond this number, which is part of the point,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China Chad Sbragia told reporters Tuesday. Those nuclear capabilities reinforce a substantial conventional missile arsenal, which China already can use to threaten U.S. military forces in Guam and other bases in the Indo-Pacific region. And the report raises the curtain on Beijing’s interest in establishing new bases in twelve other countries that would expand the Chinese Communist Party’s ability to threaten Americans. “The PRC is seeking to establish a more robust overseas logistics and basing infrastructure to allow the PLA to project and sustain military power at greater distances,” the report says, using the acronyms for the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Liberation Army. “A global PLA military logistics network could interfere with U.S. military operations and provide flexibility to support offensive operations against the United States.”

The drug in question is one you have probably heard of, Hydroxychloroquine.

President Trump has spoke of the drug’s benefits with numerous tweets, saying it relieves symptoms and doctors should be using it. However, the FDA says more research is needed.

The mother of 31-year-old Masen Bacon is just hopeful something, anything, can save her son.

“Masen is not good…there's nothing left to do,” Cat Jordan said. “Why not try everything you possibly can?”

Masen has so much life, so many good years still ahead of him, at least that is his mother’s hope.

“This can't be the end,” she said. “I'll turn every stone I can to get him whatever he needs.”

Masen had already been in the hospital for several days, battling another, unrelated illness his mother didn't want to get into, before he got a positive test result. She says she has no idea how he caught COVID-19 while in the hospital.

All she says they do know for certain is that Masen is losing the battle to this virus.

“He's on a ventilator now,” she said. “They are saying now that he is there, it will be hard to get him back off.”

Cat says he is currently sedated, unable to see the crowd of loved ones gathering near the hospital for a vigil Monday afternoon. His mother continues to re-read his last text to her.

“He said, ‘I love you’ and that was it,” she said.

She wants there to be more I love you's in the future. She’s been pleading with anyone she can to please send prayers and positivity to their family. She’s hopeful for miracle in the medical field too.

“I don't care what it is,” she said. “Try something new. He can be a guinea pig for crying out loud. Just try. It's virus, I get that. It's new, I get that. Now is the time to try new things.”

White House Denounces ‘Ludicrous’ Washington, D.C. Plan to Change or Remove Historical Monuments

The White House on Tuesday denounced a proposal from a group appointed by Washington, DC, Mayor Murial Bowser to change or remove historical monuments in the city.

“The radically liberal mayor of Washington, D.C., is repeating the same left-wing narrative used to incite dangerous riots: demolishing our history and destroying our great heritage,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement, describing the report drafted by Bowser’s request as “ludicrous.”

The report proposes a recommendation that the federal government “remove, relocate, or contextualize” monuments such as the Washington Monument, the Christopher Columbus Statue, an Andrew Jackson Statue, and the Jefferson Memorial.

Bowser shared the report on social media on Tuesday.

“This July, I tasked the DCFACES Working Group with evaluating public spaces to ensure the namesake’s legacy is consistent with DC Values,” Bowser wrote on Twitter. “They have delivered the report, and I look forward to reviewing and advancing their recommendations.”

The chairs of the working group said they examined over examined 3,050 properties and monuments and discovered over 153 “persons of concern” that warranted a change.

“Our decision-making prism focused on key disqualifying histories, including participation in slavery, systemic racism, mistreatment of, or actions that suppressed equality for, persons of color, women and LGBTQ communities and violation of the DC Human Right Act,” they wrote in their report.

But the White House said that the president had no interest in participating in any attempt to dramatically transform Washington, DC, adding that Bowser should be “ashamed” for even proposing the idea.

“President Donald J. Trump believes these places should be preserved, not torn down; respected, not hated; and passed on for generations to come,” the statement read. “As long as President Trump is in the White House, the mayor’s irresponsible recommendations will go absolutely nowhere.”

Facebook bans links to fundraiser for Kyle Rittenhouse but allows legal defense funds for others — including convicted murderers, accused murderers and rioters

Is he being singled out?

Facebook has banned users from sharing a crowdfunding link to assist with the legal fees for 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who was charged with homicide last week following fatal shootings that occurred during a riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

But the site allows posts asking for fundraising for several other individuals who have been charged with crimes — including murder — leaving questions about what Facebook uses to determine their community standards and why Rittenhouse — who is entitled to the presumption of innocence and a legal defense team just like every other American — is apparently being singled out.

What are the details?

Rittenhouse is accused of killing two men and injuring a third on Aug. 25 during the third night of riots in Kenosha, following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man. His attorney claims the teen came under attack from rioters and that Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense.

The Washington Times reported Tuesday:

Online fundraisers were made for the teen's legal defense shortly after he was identified as the suspect, but they quickly vanished from fundraising platforms including GoFundMe.

GoFundMe said campaigns for Mr. Rittenhouse violated its terms of service but did not explain further. A campaign on rival service Fundly disappeared without explanation as well.

A fundraiser for Rittenhouse launched at Christian crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo has raised nearly $334,000 as of this writing, but Facebook has banned the link from being shared. If any user attempts to share a link to the fundraiser, an error pops up telling the user that the link violates Facebook's community standards, but does not offer an explanation. However, other GiveSendGo fundraisers can be posted to the social media platform.

TheBlaze reached out to Facebook asking for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Facebook allows links for other fundraisers

Meanwhile, Facebook still allows links to fundraisers for others who have been accused of crimes, including:

Marc Wilson, 21, who was charged with felony murder after killing a 17-year-old girl. Wilson also remains behind bars, and the GoFundMe for him claims he was acting in self-defense after being accosted by "a truckload of angry white men."

A GoFundMe started by far-left filmmaker Michael Moore, to support individuals prosecuted for taking part in tearing down monuments.

The GoFundMe for Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of deceased Breonna Taylor, who was initially charged with attempted murder of a police officer but the charges were later dropped. Walker also claims he was acting in self-defense, and his legal team is asking a "court to ensure they won't be filed again," according to CBS News.

The Minnesota Freedom Fund, promoted on Twitter by Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.), bails out people who were arrested during rioting. According to KMSP-TV, this fund "has bailed out defendants from Twin Cities jails charged with murder, violent felonies, and sex crimes."

A PDX Protest Bail Fund that has raised more than $1.3 million for rioters in Portland, Oregon, who admit on their GoFundMe that "as the number of reported arrests rise ... the severity of the charges have increased."

The legal defense fund for "Tsunami," described as "an Afrolatinx transgender woman" accused of killing a man who the defendant says allegedly raped her. According to the text of the GoFundMe campaign, Tsunami was convicted by a jury, but is also claiming she acted in self-defense.

Facebook said it plans to inform 200 or so journalists who were recruited by the Russian operatives.

One of the journalists who wrote columns for Peace Data, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect his career, said that an editor reached out to him through a direct message on Twitter in July offering $200 per article.

He said he pursued the opportunity in part because he had lost his job in the pandemic. He wrote articles about the conspiracy-theory movement QAnon, the coronavirus, and U.S. militarism’s role in climate change. The journalist, who said he considers himself a socialist, said he had not been informed by Facebook and had no idea that the website, while appearing disorganized, was run by a Russian group.

New York Launches Unsecured Online 'Portal' For Requesting Absentee Ballots

As New York, which successfully managed to hold most of its primary votes mostly by mail, has opened an online portal allowing residents to request an absentee ballot.

Gov Andrew Cuomo acted unilaterally to allow any person concerned about COVID-19 risk to request an absentee ballot, even as some southern states rule that COVID-19 fears aren't a valid reason to vote absentee. ;

NYers have until Oct. 27 to mail in their ballots.

The absentee ballot portal went live Tuesday, and Cuomo heralded the launch as a move toward ensuring free and fair elections.

"As the November election approaches, we know that many voters feel vulnerable in the midst of this pandemic," he said. "In line with the sweeping reforms we have implemented to make it easier for New Yorkers to exercise their right to vote, today we launch the online portal through which every registered voter concerned about COVID-19 can obtain an absentee ballot."

USPS has advised Americans to request ballots no later than 15 days before the Nov. 3 vote.

To request a ballot, users must enter their birth date, county and ZIP code to confirm that you are already registered to vote. You are then taken to a page where you decide how you want the absentee ballot delivered.

Interestingly, when we tested the portal, we found that it didn't include any requests for sensitive private information like an individual's social security number. An individual could request an absentee ballot simply by entering in another individual's birthday, address and zip code - all information that's easily attainable.

We sincerely hope this doesn't create a massive crush of fraudulent requests, as any motivated individual could use social media to fraudulently apply for absentee ballots, if only to prove a point.

Australia Plunges Into First Recession In 29 Years Following Biggest GDP Drop On Record

Nothing good lasts forever, as Australia just discovered when after seemingly defeating the gravity of the business cycle and lasting a record 29 year without an economic contraction, the country tumbled head first into its first recession in almost 30 years, which also happened to be the worst on record as its Q2 GDP plunged -6.3% Y/Y, worse even than the consensus estimate of a -6.0% drop.

GDP plunged 7% sequentially from the first three months of the year - hammered by the renewed Covid outbreak and lockdown in Victoria state - the first back-to-back quarterly declines since 1991. The sequential drop also was larger than economist forecasts of a 6% drop.

As Bloomberg notes, "Australia’s record run of avoiding two consecutive quarters of negative GDP, which included avoiding recessions during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the Dot Com Bubble and the 2008 global financial crisis, has come to an end with the largest contraction on record according to ABS data dating back to 1959. It now joins much of the world in succumbing to a pandemic-induced downturn."

Bloomberg-Funded Group: Trump May Win Election Night, But Joe Biden Will Win Days Later Due to Mail-in Votes

An analytics firm bankrolled by billionaire Michael Bloomberg is predicting that while President Trump will appear to win on November 3, Democrat Joe Biden will actually win the election days later due to mail-in voting.

Josh Mendelsohn, the CEO of Hawkfish — funded by Bloomberg and currently working for various pro-Biden super PACs — told Axios that his firm predicts a “red mirage” where Trump wins on election day but Biden wins the election days later when mail-in votes are counted:

The reason we talk about a red mirage is in fact because we believe that on election night, we are going to see Donald Trump in a stronger position than the reality actually is. We are sounding the alarm and saying that this is a very real possibility, that the data is going to show on election night an incredible victory for Donald Trump. That is likely to be what we see.

Mendelsohn claims it could take weeks before Trump’s election night victory is chipped away at by mail-in votes that will show Biden as the winner.

Specifically, Hawkfish’s models predict that 4-in-10 voters this year will vote by mail. Electorally, Hawkfish’s models predict Trump could win 408 electoral votes on election night to Biden’s 130 if 15 percent of total mail-in votes are counted.

After 75 percent of mail-in votes are counted, days and potentially weeks later, Hawkfish’s models predict the race may flip to put Biden in the lead. This particular model has Biden with a blowout victory of 334 electoral votes to Trump’s 204. Mendelsohn said:

When every legitimate vote is tallied and we get to that final day, which will be Sunday after election day, it will in fact show that what happened on election night was exactly that, a mirage. It looked like Donald Trump was in the lead and he fundamentally was not when every ballot gets counted.

Hawkfish’s claims come as a Democrat operative detailed large-scale mail-in voting fraud conducted for years by him and staff in states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Part of the operation includes rigging elections for Democrats through paying homeless voters off, taking advantage of the elderly, posing as registered voters, and printing up fake ballots.

Democrats have fought to implement universal mail-in voting, where every registered voter on state voter rolls is mailed a ballot unsolicited, though many efforts are being challenged in court.

We Got Our Hands On Trump’s Internal Issue Polling — Jobs, Economy And COVID Take Priority Over Racial Issues And Law & Order

The Daily Caller has obtained a poll commissioned by America First Priorities (AFP), a non-profit group aligned with President Donald Trump’s reelection effort, showing that likely voters still care significantly more about jobs and the economy than any other issue heading into the 2020 election.

Twenty percent of all respondents listed “Jobs/The Economy” as their most important issue, while 16 percent said the same of “Fighting COVID-19.” Notably, only 3 and 4 percent listed “Upholding Law and Order” and “Stop Racial Injustice” as the top election issue respectively. 61 percent either didn’t answer, don’t have a preference, or named an issue outside the the 8 listed survey options as their most important issue.

The ideological breakdown showed Independents’ issue choices aligning more closely with those of Republicans than Democrats. 23 percent of Independents listed jobs and the economy as their top issue, 15 percent said fighting coronavirus, 4 percent selected law and order, while just 2 percent are most concerned with stopping racial injustice. The Republican and Democrat splits for those issues were 28-8-7-1 and 11-24-1-6 respectively.

Additional questions showed potential problems for Democrats. Respondents gave Trump a +14 economic job approval rating (56-42), while Republicans earned an 8 point advantage (50-42) over Democrats when survey participants were asked which party “they trust more to rebuild the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Donald Harris says his roots go back to Hamilton Brown, an infamous, Irish-born, slave-owning British planter in Jamaica.

My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown), descendant of Hamilton Brown, who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown's Town," wrote Donald J. Harris in a 2018 essay for Jamaica Global.

Harris is an economist, scholar, and professor of economics, emeritus at Stanford University, according to his Stanford bio. And he is the father of Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

"The Harris name comes from my paternal grandfather Joseph Alexander Harris, land-owner and agricultural 'produce' exporter (mostly pimento or all-spice), who died in 1939 one year after I was born and is buried in the church yard of the magnificent Anglican Church which Hamilton Brown built in Brown's Town (and where, as a child, I learned the catechism, was baptized and confirmed, and served as an acolyte)," added Harris.

Hamilton Brown was born in County Atrium, Ireland in 1776. He owned several sugar plantations in Jamaica across St. Anne's Parish and represented the parish in the Jamaican House of Assembly for 22 years.

Hamilton owned over 1,100 slaves over the years. According to Jamaican slave registers from the National Archives, London going back to the early 1800s, Hamilton owned babies as young as the one-month-old recorded in an 1817 registry.

In two slave registers excerpted from the archives, Hamilton swears to inventories of Creole and African slaves — identified by name, age, "color," and mother, if known — belonging to two of his plantations. One register lists 86 slaves, the other 124.

At the bottom of the lists, current as of June 28, 1817, Brown swears to their accuracy:

"I Hamilton Brown do swear that the above list and return consisting of two sheets is a true perfect and complete list and return, to the best of my knowledge and belief in every particular therein mentioned of all and every slaves possessed by me as owner, considered as most permanently settled, worked and employed in the Parish of Saint Ann ..."

Hamilton lent his name to Hamilton Town in St. Anne's Parish, which he founded and which is called Brown's Town today. Hamilton not only built St. Mark's Anglican Church, he is buried in its graveyard with an imposing statue.

After the U.K. Parliament passed the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, the Slave Compensation Act, which compensated slave owners, was passed in 1837.

Caribbean plantation owners were opposed to the abolition of slavery. They were represented at the time by the London Society of West India Planters and Merchants, which fought in favor of slavery for decades in London.

The 1837 Act paid substantial sums of money to the former slave owners, but nothing to the liberated former slaves.

According to Legacies of British Slave-Ownership at the University College of London, Brown was awarded the equivalent of over $3 million in 2020 dollars for the slaves on his plantations in St. Anne Parish.

After the African slave trade was shut down by the U.K. parliament, Brown began to bring Irish immigrants to Jamaica. The Irish government stopped it because Brown was turning the Irish immigrants into slaves.

Battleground Michigan: Lawsuits challenge state's coronavirus restrictions, ballot rules

State is 'effectively under the personal rule of a single official,' suit argues.

A pair of lawsuits filed against top-ranking state executives in Michigan seek to challenge the recent policies the two Democrats have put in place as part of their efforts to mitigate the coronavirus outbreak there.

The suits, filed by the Thomas More Society on behalf of several Michigan plaintiffs, argue that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson have, respectively, suppressed political speech and unlawfully altered the state's absentee voting system, according to a press release from the Thomas More Society.

One of the suits, filed in federal court, seeks to challenge several COVID-19 restrictions Whitmer has imposed via executive order on the state, namely limits on both indoor and outdoor gatherings; specifically, Whitmer has banned indoor gatherings that exceed 10 individuals and outdoor gatherings than exceed 100.

Those limits apply to any sort of gathering regardless of its purpose, but the nonprofits Election Integrity Fund and One Nation Michigan argue that Whitmer's order functions as an abridgment of their right to free speech and assembly under the U.S. Constitution.

Whitmer's orders "constitute direct restrictions on [the groups'] right to engage in protected speech and assembly and therefore violate the First Amendment,” the suit argues, stating that any restrictions on constitutional rights "must be narrowly tailored to achieve a compelling government interest."

The suit requests that the governor be enjoined from enforcing the order and that the order itself be voided.

"The rights of the citizenry to assemble and speak in pursuit of jointly held political goals as enshrined in the First Amendment are essential to our democracy," Phill Kline, the director of the Thomas More Society's Amistad Project, said in the organization's press release last week. "Particularly in a year in which our nation will select a president, safeguarding these rights is of fundamental importance."

Second lawsuit challenges relaxation of absentee-vote signature rules

Another lawsuit, also filed on behalf of the Election Integrity Fund, argues that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's recent online absentee ballot application violates state law and opens the door for possible widespread election fraud.

Benson's office in June launched an online application portal where Michiganders can apply for a mail-in ballot using their driver's license and part of their social security number.

State law normally dictates that absentee ballot requests must be accompanied by a voter's signature as an anti-fraud measure. Benson's new system allows voters to "borrow" pre-existing signatures from driver's licenses or state IDs in order to complete the application.

"The applicant need not upload a signature, provide an electronic signature, or otherwise provide a contemporaneous signature at the time of the application," the suit asserts. Rather, "a person need only have the limited personal information required by the online system to request an absentee ballot on behalf [of] another."

The suit further points out that "at least some of" the borrowed signatures are also the ones used to match the voter's signature on the absentee ballot itself — meaning the state could end up verifying absentee ballots by matching "merely a reproduction of the same signature" rather than two unique signatures from the same individual.

Lebanon Erupts In Violent Protest As Political Factions Appoint New Prime Minister

Demonstrators gathered in Lebanon to denounce the formation of a new government by Lebanon’s long-time political barons, declaring that a solution to Lebanon’s multiple crises cannot be solved by the same groups of political and bureaucratic elites that have been systematically plundering the country’s resources for decades.

The demonstration that formed near the parliament building almost immediately turned into disturbances. Demonstrators started throwing stones and explosives at the police and tried to pass over the barriers placed in front of the parliament building.

Demonstrators destroyed traffic lights and the surveillance cameras placed on office buildings. In response, police used tear gas.

The disturbances have been contained, and all central squares and the streets leading to those squares are under the control of the army. Based on the data provided by Lebanon’s MTV, approximately 20 people were injured as a result of the clashes

One of the actions widely denounced by protestors was the appointment on Monday of a new prime minister, little-known diplomat Mustafa Adib, just hours before the arrival to Lebanon of French president Emanuel Macron.

Macron appeared in the country as some type of latter day emperor, meeting with key personalities from most of the political cliques and factions before demanding reforms on behalf of Western creditors.

“We demand progress in the next few weeks,” Macron said during a press conference from Beirut during his second visit in less than a month.

The French president said business would not “be as usual” among Lebanese leaders and that they had promised to implement widespread reforms to address the country’s unprecedented economic and financial crisis. **

As for the new government, Macron said he expected reforms to materialize within four weeks after its formation. If this does not occur, the international community will not release any aid and there will be ‘consequences’, he said.

Macron raised the possibility of sanctions on Lebanese leaders accused of corruption. Such measures will be coordinated with the European Union. No mention was made of whether the Western financial and corporate sector entities that have enabled and managed much of the systematic financial plunder of Lebanon could also face sanctions.

France will host another ‘donor’ conference to evaluate whether Lebanon’s economic reforms satisfy their demands in October. LINK

Meanwhile, in the streets of Lebanon’s capital the protesters that gathered in Beirut on Tuesday called for a ‘new Lebanon’ without its entrenched political leaders, and urged the visiting French president not to cooperate with them.

Clashes erupted in the evening between angry demonstrators and security forces, who responded with tear gas, while earlier in the afternoon, people demonstrating in the capital called for urgent change.

Several held up black versions of the Lebanese flag in mourning for the victims of the massive explosion at Beirut’s port on August 4 that killed 190, injured thousands and ravaged large parts of the city.

A group of eight Venezuelan federal ministers, including the former vice president and minister of communications, Jorge Rodriguez, will leave their posts to participate in the upcoming elections to the National Assembly, President Nicolas Maduro said.

"They consulted with me, and, according to the constitution, must leave their posts three months prior to the election date, 5 September", Maduro said in a televised speech broadcast on his Twitter.

On Monday, the President pardoned more than 50 political figures in opposition parties. Many of those pardoned had been charged for their roles in the series of uprisings against the Venezuelan government in early 2019.

Elections to the Venezuelan National Assembly, led from January 2019 to January 2020 by opposition leader Juan Guaido, will take place on 6 December. A total of 26 opposition parties decided not to run in these elections.

Venezuela is rocked by a political crisis that intensified in January when merely two weeks after Maduro's inauguration for his second term, Juan Guaido illegally proclaimed himself 'interim president' and called on citizens to help him take power in the country.

Guaido immediately received support from the United States and some Latin American countries, including Colombia, while Maduro accused him of trying to stage a coup in Venezuela with the help of the US.

University Athletic Officials Slapped With New Charges in College Admissions Scandal

BOSTON – A federal grand jury in the District of Massachusetts returned a second superseding indictment today bringing additional charges against two university athletic officials in the college admissions case.

The second superseding indictment charges Gordon Ernst, the former Georgetown University tennis coach, with three counts of federal programs bribery and three counts of filing false tax returns and charges Jovan Vavic, former water polo coach at the University of Southern California, with conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery. An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.

The indictment alleges that in addition to accepting bribes from William “Rick” Singer, Ernst also solicited and received bribes from three other prospective Georgetown applicants. Ernst then failed to report a significant portion of those bribe payments on his federal income tax returns. The second superseding indictment also alleges that Vavic conspired to commit federal programs bribery by soliciting and accepting bribes to facilitate the admission of students to the University of Southern California. The new charges are in addition to those brought in an earlier indictment.

Singer previously pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the government’s investigation.

Of the 12 coaches, administrators and employees charged in the initial indictment in March 2019, eight have pleaded guilty or agreed to do so. Defendants Gordon Ernst, Donna Heinel, Jovan Vavic and William Ferguson have pleaded not guilty.

California Legislature Softens Sex Offender Registry Requirements For Sodomy With Minors

The California legislature passed a law late Monday relaxing sex offender registry requirements for sodomy and other acts with minors in efforts to end “discrimination against LGBTQ young people on the sex offender registry,” according to the bill’s sponsor.

Democratic California state Sen. Scott Weiner, a gay politician who represents San Francisco, first introduced SB 145 in January 2019. The bill “would exempt from mandatory registration under the act a person convicted of certain offenses involving minors if the person is not more than 10 years older than the minor and if that offense is the only one requiring the person to register,” according to the text of the legislation.

Under the new bill, which has not been signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, adults less than 10 years older than the minor who are convicted of having anal or oral sex with that minor would not automatically be added to the sex-offender registry, the San Fransisco Chronicle reported.

Current California law requires that adults must register as sex offenders if they are convicted of having anal or oral sex with a minor, though a judge may decide whether to place an adult male not more than 10 years older than the minor on the registry if he has vaginal intercourse with a teenaged girl, according to the Chronicle.

In 2015, the California Supreme Court argued that vaginal intercourse can lead to pregnancy and that requiring a father to register as a sex offender may inhibit his ability to support his child and find a job through social stigmatization, according to the Chronicle.

SB 145 passed the California Assembly by a bare minimum vote of 41-18 before passing 23-10 in the state Senate, the Chronicle reported, though some lawmakers raised concerns that the bill allows for mistreatment of minors.

“I cannot in my mind as a mother understand how sex between a 24-year-old and a 14-year-old could ever be consensual, how it could ever not be a registrable offense,” Democratic California state Rep. Lorena Gonzalez said, according to the Chronicle. “We should never give up on this idea that children should be in no way subject to a predator.”

Though minors cannot legally consent to sex in California,Wiener’s bill would allow a judge to decide whether or not to place an adult on the sex-offender registry if a teenager between the ages of 14 to 17 had sex with that adult.

“SB 145 ends discrimination against #LGBTQ young people on the sex offender registry,” Weiner said in a Tuesday tweet. “Currently, these youth are forced onto the registry for consensual sex — even if a judge doesn’t think it’s appropriate — in situations where straight youth are not. This discrimination destroys lives.”

Wiener did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

US seeks formal alliance similar to Nato with India, Japan and Australia, State Department official says

Washington aims to formalise its closer Indo-Pacific defence relations with India, Japan and Australia – also known as “the quad” – into something more closely resembling the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato), a senior US State Department official said on Monday.

The US government’s goal is to get the grouping of four countries and others in the region to work together as a bulwark against “a potential challenge from China” and “to create a critical mass around the shared values and interests of those parties in a manner that attracts more countries in the Indo-Pacific and even from around the world … ultimately to align in a more structured manner”, said Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun.

“The Indo-Pacific region is actually lacking in strong multilateral structures,” he said. “They don‘t have anything of the fortitude of Nato or the European Union. The strongest institutions in Asia oftentimes are not, I think, not inclusive enough and so … there is certainly an invitation there at some point to formalise a structure like this.”

“Remember even Nato started with relatively modest expectations and a number of countries [initially] chose neutrality over Nato membership,” Biegun added.

Biegun cautioned that Washington would keep its ambitions for a Pacific Nato “checked”, saying that such a formal alliance “only will happen if the other countries are as committed as the United States”.

House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal defeated challenger Alex Morse in their Massachusetts primary, surviving the latest test for establishment Democrats from the party's left. Neal, 71, had a single-digit polling lead on Morse ahead of their Tuesday primary for western Massachusetts's 1st Congressional District. But the incumbent still outraised and outspent the 31-year-old mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts, who's been in office for almost a decade and backs "Medicare for all" and the "Green New Deal." Neal earned endorsements from the likes of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, in part due to his leadership of the House Ways and Means Committee. The panel is influential in federal lawmaking because it shapes tax policy.

But Morse touted support from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and far-left group Justice Democrats, among others. Liberals argued Neal hadn't used his standing to support working families and sweeping reform. Instead, they alleged he prioritized campaign donors, including pharmaceutical companies, and knocked his preference for incremental change. Morse and his allies criticized Neal for not seizing President Trump's tax returns and opposing left proposals, such as one aimed at cutting surprise medical billing. In response, the 31-year congressman, first elected in 1989, talked up his work on the Affordable Care Act, creating renewable energy incentives, and lowering prescription drug costs.

University of Massachusetts Amherst College Democrats marred the race last month after they accused Morse of leveraging his position as an elected official and former guest lecturer to make students feel uncomfortable in social media messages. Morse, who is unmarried and gay, disclosed consensual relationships with students, though none under his instruction, and apologized for making anyone feel uneasy. It later emerged that the College Democrats, at least one of who wanted a Neal internship, engineered the claims. The Neal-Morse contest caps a turbulent year for liberal Democratic activists. Centrist 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden beat their White House hopefuls, Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. Forgoing the presidency, they turned their attention to down-ballot primaries. They then successfully ousted House Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot Engel, a long-term lawmaker from New York, and legacy Missouri Rep. William Lacy Clay via Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush. The bitter, personal Democratic primary between Rep. Joe Kennedy III and Sen. Ed Markey to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate has ended in defeat for the political scion, quashing hopes of a Camelot restoration. Kennedy, first elected to Congress in 2012, trailed Markey, who came to the Senate in a 2013 special election after 37 years in the House, by double digits in a spate of polls before their Tuesday primary. The defeat marks the first Kennedy loss in Massachusetts in modern political history. "Obviously, these results are not the ones we're hoping for," Kennedy told reporters and supporters late Tuesday. "But to everyone who fought with us, for everyone who stood with us, for everyone who believed in us and gave us their sweat, their tears, their hearts, and their souls to this fight, I am so proud of what we accomplished, what we built together."

The battle drew a line in the Democratic Party. Markey earned endorsements from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democrats' campaign arm, and his colleague, Massachusetts Sen. Markey, too, twisted the words of President John F. Kennedy, his opponent's great-uncle, in one of his own ads. “We asked what we could do for our country. Between the late president and his brother, Ted Kennedy, the Senate seat currently held by Warren was occupied by a Kennedy for more than half a century. There was speculation a Joe Kennedy Senate primary win, tantamount to a general election victory in deep blue Massachusetts, and success for his cousin-in-law Amy Kennedy in her New Jersey congressional race would usher in a new Camelot era where the members of the political dynasty enjoyed power at the same time. Amy Kennedy, whose father-in-law is Ted Kennedy, is vying to oust turncoat Rep. Jeff Van Drew on Nov. 3. North Texas men, including church pastor, indicted on child pornography violations

PLANO, Texas – Two North Texas men have been charged with child exploitation crimes in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Cox today.

David Pettigrew, 48, of Denison, Texas, and Chad Michael Rider, 46, of Anna, Texas have been charged in an indictment returned by a grand jury with conspiring to sexually exploit children (also referred to as production of child pornography). Pettigrew was additionally charged with transporting child pornography. Both men have entered “not guilty” pleas to the charges.

Pettigrew came to the attention of law enforcement officials through referrals sent by two electronic surveillance providers and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Those referrals identified a computer user who uploaded suspected child pornography onto their online platforms. On August 6, 2020, Homeland Security Investigations agents executed federal search warrants at Pettigrew’s residence and the Denison Church of the Nazarene, after which, agents arrested Pettigrew. Agents executed a search warrant at Rider’s residence on August 21, 2020. Until recently, Pettigrew had served as pastor of the Denison Church of the Nazarene. Rider is a resident of Anna, Texas.

If convicted, Pettigrew and Rider face a minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison.

The investigation has revealed that a number of children were surreptitiously photographed in private locations or outside of the presence of their parents. Syracuse University removed a professor who used the phrase "Chinese Communist Party Virus" in a class syllabus, but student activists say it's not enough and they want him fired.

Chemistry professor Jon Zubieta is accused of writing the "Chinese Community Party Virus" and "Wuhan Flu" in his syllabus. Students organized under the hashtag "NotAgainSU" on social media to demand the college take action against Zubieta.

The professor was removed from the classroom over the incident.

The university released a statement from Karin Ruhlandt, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and John Liu, interim vice chancellor and provost, to address the matter.

"The derogatory language used by a professor on his course syllabus is damaging to the learning environment for our students and offensive to Chinese, international and Asian-Americans everywhere who have experienced hate speech, rhetoric and actions since the pandemic began," said the joint statement.

Not enough

Activist students say that the university needs to outright fire Zubieta.

"A lot of students are uncomfortable with the decision to place Zubieta on administrative leave. We expected him to be fired," said one sophomore student to NBC News. The student did not want to be identified by name.

The student who first posted the syllabus on Instagram said it should have led to his immediate dismissal.

"It's not safe for students to be in a classroom with a professor who thinks their ethnicity should be blamed for a pandemic," said graduate student Taylor Krzeminski.

"I agree he should be on leave but the investigation better be quick because to me it's incredibly straight-forward," she said. "He used political and racist language in a chemistry class."

In the 2019 annual list of the 10 worst U.S. colleges for free speech compiled by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Syracuse University came in at the No. 9 slot.

The phrases "Kung flu" and "Chinese virus" have been used by President Donald Trump in order to emphasize the source of the global pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of people. His critics have excoriated him for what they say is a racist phrasing that leads to bigoted attacks on Asian Americans.

Why would the FDA ban a drug that safely saves the lives of patients?

The American people have been subjected to a pack of lies and half-truths for three years. Politicians responsible for most of the deceptions enjoy an approval rating hovering somewhere near that of a used car salesman.

Aimed at getting to the bottom of the disparity between doctors' pro and con beliefs regarding the use of hydroxychloroquine to fight the Wuhan virus, on Sunday, August 23, radio talk show host Mark Levin had Dr. Harvey Risch on as one of his cable show guests.

Risch, a distinguished cancer epidemiologist at the Yale School of Public Health, has published over 300 papers and is viewed in the medical profession as an expert at evaluating research data.

Risch, who recently wrote a review article in the American Journal of Epidemiology that cites evidence that he believes supports hydroxychloroquine's use on an outpatient basis against the Wuhan virus, told Levin that the evidence that the drug has saved many lives is "overwhelming." He also stated that there are studies that indicate no harmful effects using the medicine under strict protocol — something the FDA did not consider when it evaluated the drug.

In an interview with The Daily Hayes, Risch cited the evidence found by Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a family doctor from Monroe, New York, who has reported having a 99.7% survival rate for his patients using hydroxychloroquine.

Zelenko emphasized that the high success rate using hydroxychloroquine is effected when administered on an outpatient basis and in the early stages, usually within the first five days of experiencing symptoms. He spoke of how it was imperative to follow a strict protocol, which included using a cocktail containing hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and the antibiotic azithromycin.

Doctors across the country have been coming forward and telling of their positive experience of high success rates when treating patients having the Wuhan virus with hydroxychloroquine.

Dr. Simone Gold, a board-certified emergency room physician, recently stood with a group of other physicians on the Supreme Court's steps and stated, "We brought together physicians from across the country who have successfully treated patients using hydroxychloroquine. Our message to the American people is clear. Hydroxychloroquine works."

It is even harder to understand why he continued to call her over the course of several months to convince her that they get together to talk. And beyond everything, taking into account that he knew that she was a police officer. Those who know him know that he is a friendly, but wary and suspicious person. That he never uses the same route to get to his house at the Central Station. That he sometimes takes a taxi, just to get off at a random corner and take the metro and then, without any obvious reason, gets off at another metro stop – always a different one – and gets on a bus, whichever one happens to be at the bus stop. That when he thinks that he is being followed, he stops in front of a window to see the reflection of everything around him. His neighbors always thought that he was paranoid. But he had reasons to feel followed and since he emigrated from the Dominican Republic and legally established himself in Chile in December 2010 his business has been to traffic immigrants.

El Poli’s real name is Luis Ramirez. He is a heavy-set, dark skinned 31-year-old with a story that he has told everyone that he has known in Chile: that in his country he was part of the police force and that he worked in the border town of Dajabon. In fact, he sports a badge with his name on it and enjoys showing it to everyone while he tells them that he fled the Dominican Republic because of all the enemies he made while fighting the trafficking ‘mafias’. He said that these mafias even infiltrated his ‘colleagues’ in the police force. That is why they call him El Poli.

CIPER has followed his trail for months because he is the leader of a group dedicated to bringing Haitians into Chile. His name, or rather his nickname, first came up when we were investigating a "prostitution trafficking" network that operated for nine years in the heart of the Golf neighborhood in Santiago. And it kept coming up when we were reporting on the mechanisms that are used in Chile to smuggle sexual and labour migrants into the country. Conservatives are up in metaphorical arms after Twitter locked out the account of Lin Wood, the attorney who launched a defense fund for alleged Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, saying he somehow violated their rules.

Wood is the attorney who won sizable settlements for Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann in defamation suits against CNN and the Washington Post. Last week, he volunteered to represent Rittenhouse pro bono and set up a legal defense fund for him.

The lawyer’s account is still visible, but the last post was more than 16 hours ago. Twitter has not specified which rules Wood may have violated.

One of the theories making the rounds is that Wood is linked to ‘QAnon,’ the conspiracy-minded community blanket-banned by Twitter back in July over alleged potential for “real world harm.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congressional candidate denounced by mainstream media as a QAnon supporter for saying the mysterious figure had “given clues” that “have really proven to be true,” said Wood was her attorney. He also has the hashtag #WWG1WGA (“Where We Go One, We Go All”), commonly used by Q aficionados, in his Twitter bio.

It is just as likely that Wood’s timeout might be related to his work defending Rittenhouse, however. The 17-year-old lifeguard is accused of shooting three of the rioters in Kenosha, Wisconsin last week, two of them fatally. His attorneys argue it was legitimate self-defense. Expressing that sentiment on Twitter, however, can get one (figuratively) locked up.

Over the weekend, journalist Cassandra Fairbanks got a 12-hour suspension for tweeting that Rittenhouse “did nothing wrong.” It happened to be an exact quote from his attorneys’ statement to the press, but to Twitter, it represented “content that condones or celebrates acts of violence.”

The French foreign minister has blamed unrealistic expectations of the British government for a stall in talks on post-Brexit trade between the UK and the European Union.

“The negotiations are not advancing because of an intransigent and, let's be clear, unrealistic attitude of the United Kingdom,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Monday.

The rebuke came during a speech to French ambassadors based in Europe, which Le Drian delivered during a workshop he conducted alongside his German counterpart, Heiko Maas. Germany currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

This is what Facebook and Google are really fighting for.

With the rest of the world watching, Google and Facebook do not want a precedent set in Australia over access to the data they gather on users. And it's too late for the Government to back down now, writes David Speers.

A couple of weeks ago, Google started bombarding users with a pop-up yellow alert every time they clicked on the search engine.

It wasn't a warning about offensive content, cyber security or online privacy. Rather, it was about rallying its millions of users to help protect the company's business model and data secrecy.

The Australian Government is boldly going where no other country has gone in taking on tech giants Google and Facebook. It has proposed a new "Mandatory News Media Bargaining Code" which would require these two tech giants to do two things.

One, they would have to pay Australian media companies a fair amount for the use of their journalism.

Two, they would have to hand over a lot more information about the data they collect on their prized algorithms.

Around the same time as these pop-up warnings began to appear, Google quietly reached out to Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. Government sources say the tech giant signalled a preparedness to pay up. Exactly how much it was willing to offer media companies is unclear, but somewhere in the "tens of millions of dollars per year".

Money, it seems, wasn't the main concern.

The red line for Google was apparently the data sharing.

Under the mandatory code proposed by the competition regulator, Google and Facebook would be required to provide media companies with "clear information about the data they collect through users' interactions with news on digital platforms; for example how long users spend on an article, how many articles they consume in a certain period, and other information about user engagement with news content across digital platform services".

They would also have to give "28 days' notice of algorithm changes likely to materially affect referral traffic to news, algorithm changes designed to affect ranking of news behind paywalls, and substantial changes to the display and presentation of news, and advertising directly associated with news".

This information about which news stories and ads appear in your Facebook feed or Google search goes to the heart of the business models of these technology companies.

It's the "special sauce" they will guard jealously to the end. This is what the fight is really about. With the rest of the world watching, Google and Facebook do not want a precedent set here in Australia.

The nuclear option

Facebook has now upped the ante, joining the Google approach of trying to harness its millions of users to pressure the Government. It's threatening to ban Australian users from accessing news content from its site completely to avoid having to comply with this new law.

This is the nuclear option.

Stopping users sharing legitimate news content may not necessarily be easy, but it can be done.

If Facebook does pull the trigger and block all news content, the company's Australian boss Will Easton reckons media companies will be worse off. "During the first five months of 2020 Facebook sent 2.3 billion clicks from Facebook's news feed to Australian publishers," he says, suggesting this traffic was worth about $200 million to the media companies.

The companies themselves scoff at this, arguing it's Facebook making far more by using and monetising their journalism.

Some fear a threat to democracy too if Facebook carries out its threat. Roughly one third of Australians access their news via the social media platform and if trusted journalism disappears from the site, fake news and all manner of conspiracies could prosper.

A high stakes stand-off

This is a high stakes stand-off. If Facebook is right, it won't end well for media companies, millions of loyal users or the Government.

Crushed: Digital giants vs Australian media

Within a couple of years the likes of Google and Facebook will devour more than half local ad revenues, leaving only crumbs for traditional media players.

Communications Minister Paul Fletcher casts doubt on the Facebook threat, pointing out "it's not without precedent for (the tech giants) to make heavy-handed threats".

Privately though, senior government figures don't think Facebook is bluffing at all.

Given what's at stake globally for the tech giants, few doubt they will go ahead with sacrificing the quality of their Australian operations to avoid this law.

So, will there be much political blowback for the Coalition from angry Facebook and Google users? The calculation within the Government is "not much". The view is Australians will support this new law in the interests of "fairness" and will simply seek their news content elsewhere. We'll see.

The reality is, the Government can hardly back down now. To do so, particularly when media companies are cheering it on, would be a humiliating capitulation.

As the Treasurer has said, "we don't respond to coercion or heavy-handed threats". That means no retreat in the big tech battle.

The report notes that China perceives Taiwan as one of the most prominent threats to its national identity and that it has not renounced the use of military force to pursue unification. Despite Beijing's stated preference for a more peaceful approach, its military has a range of options with which to threaten the country, "from an air and maritime blockade to a full-scale amphibious invasion."

According to the report, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been enhancing its readiness for an invasion but hesitates to carry it out due to potential international intervention. It says Chinese armed forces would likely be strained if they decided to launch an amphibious attack against Taiwan.

However, based on DOD analysis, the PLA is already capable of conducting smaller military operations to seize Taiwan's offshore islands. By doing so, it could make territorial gains while showing off its military strength with some restraint.

The Air Force wants to buy six reconnaissance pods from the United States which would allow it to improve its aerial photography of Chinese targets both by day and night, reports said Wednesday (Sept. 2).

The long-range pods are compatible with F-16 jets, cost a total of NT$9.81 billion (US$334 million), and would be delivered in 2024, CNA reported. The details were included in the 2021 budget proposal that the Ministry of National Defense filed with the Legislative Yuan.

The discussion about the need for recon pods was triggered by photos of China's aircraft carrier the Liaoning taken in April. The quality of the images was so poor that somede commentators wondered whether the military had released the pictures on purpose to mislead China about its own capabilities, CNA reported.

The issue led to the military reportedly selecting MS-110 long-range oblique photography (LOROP) pods for their ability to take images at night and in poor weather conditions from a long distance.

Taiwan’s Air Force operates 142 F-16 fighter jets and has ordered 66 more advanced F-16V “Viper” jets. Last month, the country also opened a regional maintenance and repair center for the U.S.-built warplanes.

A coworker at one of the US's largest banks is Chinese and regularly simply goes back to China with his company laptop and works from there without telling anyone. Since he has almost always worked exclusively from home, this appears to go unnoticed.

He has access to literally everything at the bank. Everything.

And presumably he goes back to China after each network security upgrade with his laptop that has all the connection protocols.

They're letting China have unfettered access.

Fourteen people are on trial in France over the deadly attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo more than five years ago.

Most of the alleged accomplices are in court in Paris, but three are being tried in absentia.

They are accused of helping the militant Islamist attackers who shot dead 12 people in and around Charlie Hebdo's Paris office in January 2015.

A third gunman shot dead a policewoman and attacked a Jewish supermarket.

In total, 17 people were killed in a period of just three days. The killings marked the beginning of a wave of jihadist attacks across France that left more than 250 people dead.

In the days following the attacks, millions of people took part in solidarity marches across France and around the world under the slogan "Je suis Charlie" (I am Charlie).

The magazine has marked the start of the trial by reprinting controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that sparked protests in several Muslim countries. President Emmanuel Macron has since defended the freedom of the press and the French "freedom to blaspheme, which is linked to freedom of conscience".

What is happening at the trial?

Eleven of the defendants were present in the courtroom on Wednesday. They gave their names and occupations, and all confirmed they intended to answer questions from the court.

WASHINGTON: The United States seeks to formalise its closer defence ties with countries of the India-Pacific region India, Japan and Australia similar to something like the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) with an aim to counter China, US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun said on Monday.

He said that Washington's aim is to get the grouping of four countries and others in the region to work together as a bulwark against "a potential challenge from China", and "to create a critical mass around the shared values and interests of those parties in a manner that attracts more countries in the Indo-Pacific and even from around the world ... ultimately to align in a more structured manner", South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.

Biegun made the comments while speaking with former US ambassador to India, Richard Verma in an online discussion organised by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.

"The Indo-Pacific region is actually lacking in strong multilateral structures. They do not have anything of the fortitude of NATO or the European Union. The strongest institutions in Asia oftentimes are not, I think, not inclusive enough and so ... there is certainly an invitation there at some point to ormalise a structure like this," Biegun said.

"Remember, even NATO started with relatively modest expectations and a number of countries (initially) chose neutrality over NATO membership," he added.

However, he cautioned that the US would keep its ambitions for a Pacific NATO "checked", asserting such an alliance "will happen only if the other countries are as committed as the US".
