Welcome to /monarchy/. I'm editing this top post in order to condense things. This is now the only sticky and a general meta thread. There has been no change in BO, I'm just trying to clean things up a bit more. I may delete out posts in this thread just because I would like keeping the >>1 post for tradition's sake.
Rules: https://8ch.net/monarchy/charter.html
About/Links: https://8ch.net/monarchy/about.html
More specifically, if there is a new BO or volunteer of /monarchy/, it's announced here. If there is a change to the rules, it is promulgated here. This is also a thread I'll use to be a little less aloof and talk about minor and meta stuff: general feedback, complaining about troll threads, accepting submissions for flags, banners, moderation, and rules, etc.. A court, if you will.

First off, because someone has reported >>2173, I must point to >>1003 (*). Given this previous decision, since this seems to be the only ideological /pol/tard or fascist thread I can find, the thread is staying. Even if he is trolling, one is not the end of the world, deal with it. You're just going to have to man up and maybe polish your rhetoric a bit. I am dismissing these reports.
(*) summary when this thread inevitably falls off the board in the future, there was a leftypol poster who was doing something similar. Decision as follows:
>I don't want to protect the users from the outside. Lest the board's rhetoric becomes too dull.
>>Maybe limit debate-threads to one per ideology, so we don't have ten lefties asking the exact same stupid question like it happens on /liberty/.
>That sounds pretty decent. I'll think about a "Locking repeat threads and redirecting to another thread" not necessarily rule, but maybe "executive order."

Same warning as before: it will probably take a while before it shows up on the board. Also, board flags can only be pretty small (11-20x11-16 pixels), so I don't know if I did a good job in scaling it. We'll see.

Some items of business.
I had to go through and clean the board. I edited/spoilered some stuff because of some rule 2/3 stuff that I could find skimming around. Because of this, I rewrote the rules a bit to make things more explicit on those topics, but they're basically the same. Feel free to at least submit a report for that sort of stuff.
I'll be cleaning up some old stuff in this thread in a bit here.
Also, is it just me or has traffic really kicked off on this board in the last month or so?

There are getting to be a lot of repeat threads of the following:
- Burgerland Monarchy.
- Communism & Monarchism.
- Absolutism
I established previously to lock certain repeat threads, because I don't want to discourage new posters who are trying to make a serious thread by just deleting it. However, in the same vein, I'd like to redirect them to the "main" thread.
Problem 1: What's the "main" thread? The burger threads is a good example:
>>2256
>>6599
>>824
Which is the main one?
Problem 2: If I do something about it too late (which is probably always going to be a problem) and enough discussion crops up on it, then I kind of don't want to do anything about it because I'd rather have a duplicate thread than squash the discussion already going on.
Problem 3: There are a few threads that I take to be "some neighborhood boys rough-housing and having fun shitposting." E.g., >>6804. I don't want to rule-lawyer like some autistic faggot and tell everyone to go to >>950 (or is it >>2752?) when they're just having some fun.
I'll probably just leave this sort of stuff alone for now, but it has been in the back of my mind recently.

Tbh, If Cortés obeyed those orders, Spain wouldn't have been the over seas power that it was after Cortés conquered in the name of his king. Sure he disobeyed orders, but he did so out of love for his monarch and his actions ended up making the monarch much richer in wealth and power.
If I was in King Charles' shoes I would have done the same thing: under-reward him as punishment for his disobedience.

Thanks for the help.
I'll probably leave the font and other colors as it is. I think I like the borders as they are. It would be nice if they could have a tiny flourish, but I'd probably screw that up, so I'll take what I can get there.
Regarding fonts, I was not referring to the color, but I was getting at the actual font. I wanted to find something that looks like the kind of print used in an 18th century newspaper (and ended up with that garish cursive font in testing), but the 8ch limits the css here to what you can find in Google fonts.
Also, I don't know whether it might be worthwhile to throw an embassy thread in /fascist/.

Banners are a waste of time, imo. I have an ad-block installed in my brain, so I personally don't notice anything that looks remotely like a banner. The same energy can be spent on drawing Grace-chan.

If there's anything we could gain from /fascist/, I think they have a nice set of banners. /monarchy/ is definitely a more light-hearted board and that is a good thing. I was kinda hoping with all these /fascist/ anons on the board, they'd also import their banner-making craft and help in that thread.
>Banners are a waste of time, imo. I have an ad-block installed in my brain
The cultural renewal on /monarchy/ has been a steady success so far. I like that we have a new style board and slowly moving towards emblems/banners. I like coming into a thread and seeing the banners on top.
>The same energy can be spent on drawing Grace-chan.
I've worked behind quite a few Grace Chan pics and I'm spent. All my resources and draw friends are spent. If only someone else could commission a piece I know where cheap artists are who charge very cheap … or, if some anon could bring over a drawfag they know. It would be tremendous assistance. I cannot provide another Grace Chan with the situation I'm in.
>Based.
That was the plan! An 8chan renaissance of board-tans resurging as a popular medium here. An underground board-tan culture between /monarchy/, /liberty/, /fascist/, /pol/, and /leftypol/.
As for the cultural renewal and board-tans, I was kinda hoping that Intelligentsia had a few arts and crafts up his sleeve this run for the banners. I was surprised at all the Russian content like the 'Third Rome' picture and Tsar waifu.
…
We'll have to see what resources the board has. If only we had an extra drawfag, or someone willing to get us a few pieces of Grace Chan art. T'was my greatest hope that anons would start drawing Grace Chan themselves without my working.

You know what would be cool? Having images at the bottom-right corner of the screen which change on a weekly basis, like maybe Grace-chan, or the emblems you guys have made, or at least a floral to fill up the empty space.
>That was the plan! An 8chan renaissance of board-tans resurging as a popular medium here. An underground board-tan culture between /monarchy/, /liberty/, /fascist/, /pol/, and /leftypol/.
Sounds like you can make a slice of life anime out of this. What about going to /loomis/ or some other art board, and asking those guys if they would be interested in doing a piece featuring all these mascots? It's not like they would be shilling for any one particular mascot, so they might be interested.
>I was kinda hoping that Intelligentsia had a few arts and crafts up his sleeve this run for the banners.
Yeah, well, Intelligentsia is a faggot. He said he doesn't like banners, but now he'll probably make some anyway.
>T'was my greatest hope that anons would start drawing Grace Chan themselves without my working.
Oh, I totally know that feel, it sucks to be the only one memeing. I'm doing the mascot for /liberty/ right now, so my hands are full with that, but I'd love to do lots of Aurelia x Grace anime crossovers later on.

<Struggling with the absolutely babby-bitch basic board css (like changing colors or fonts) without screwing everything up.
Let me think about how to do this, or if it's even possible.
Also, let me know if there's something in >>8234 that I should be looking at in particular. Because it looks like there's a lot of fun stuff in there.
Also also, I maybe should've said this a while ago:
>Flags are 11-20 x 11-16 px, no larger than 48kb
>Banners are 300x100px exactly, no larger than 500kb

Finding commissions and talents aren't too hard.
There's Deviant Art, Twitter, and plenty of artists who take commissions on other websites. I've actually gotten one from /v/ before in a request thread. They're a pretty nice board, but I wouldn't pester them about it.

If anyone gets to producing a Grace piece and doesn't have an idea, here are a few ideas I had written down long ago.
#1. Grace Chan rising from the lake, presenting Excalibur.
#2. Grace Chan with glowing eyes and SHUT THE FUCK UP, MONARCHOMACHIST
#3. Grace Chan with Alunya put in a Guillotine, singing "Guilotine Permeante"
Grace Chan is sitting on top of her. She is somewhat nonchalant. Alunya is
strapped in the guillotine like a reverse of events.
#4. Grace chan with Alunya, holding a Noose around her neck.
The noose is held with her behind, in a semi-lewd fashion, as Grace says,
"Hanged, drawn, and quartered." Almost in a sardonic way, but seductive.
#5. Grace Chan in solemn prayer.
#6. Grace dressed up as a cavalier, but purple garb.

Warning: css testing to see if I can get a floating emblem to work or not. It might break the entire goddam board because I don't know how the hell to properly do unit testing with the limited tools I'm given here…

Alright, it's not working. I tried to use the following on the body tag:
background-image: url("https://i.imgur.com/RpLoehA.jpg") repeat center, url("https://media.8ch.net/file_store/70ef3217f6f8924b250912086832ba8cd761fb0b5934080a603d14ccb18a6fb4.png") no-repeat right bottom;
background-attachment: fixed, fixed;
background-size: auto, 50 px;
But instead it's just sprawling the Russian emblem all over the page like one of Intelligentsia's wet dreams.
Anyone have a thought on what to do here?

One of the things I tried before might have worked before, actually. It's hard to know because this site sucks trying to do any sort of testing with it. For example, I reverted back to the old css over an hour ago, there have been new posts, my cache has been cleared over several browsers, and yet I'm still seeing the emblem as the background instead of what we had yesterday.

background-attachment: fixed;
background-size: 250px, auto;

You can test the CSS in realtime with ctrl + shift + I if you're using Chrome, just go to the sources tab, click on "stylesheets" > "board" > "monarchy.css", and it's easy to see your changes. I'm sure it's something similar for other browsers.

Thank you for the tips. I knew about the inspector, but somehow never realized you could edit it in realtime.
Also, after some more testing (thanks for the code though), I think I might leave it as it is. There are a number of browsers I find that trying to put a layered background ends up breaking everything.
