ITT your /toy/ disappointments.

You see this guy here? How he's holding that axe in a way that no human ever would? It's because he can't move from that position. He can't bend his elbows. He can't move his torso. He can just barely move his wrists. And because of the way the leg joints are molded he can't sit down or even really crouch.

He's perfect for all your T-posing needs, and absolutely nothing else.

>hear all these horror stories about NECA

>buy the red genocide xenomorph

>no joint stuck or warped parts

>more articulation than the revo and monsterarts xenos

>better sculpt and paintjob

Either I got extremely lucky or they have improved and most QC complaints are due to their lack of quality in older series/waves.

I got the Halo:CE Anniversary Chief. I liked the look and it's the only one with that design. But holy shit.

I mean there's 'articulation limited by sculpt' and then there's this. 28 points of articulation my ass.

>head up/down is a negligible amount

>barely moves at the shoulders

>elbows move ~45 degrees

>knees about 30 degrees

>clicky joints on ankle but knees are loose and floppy

>all joints hard to turn if they get flipped around the wrong way

>limbs don't seem to be removable

>why even have an ab crunch when it barely moves

>Halo 3 rifle

>holds the piece in front of the trigger with his thumb because no trigger finger

>have to force him to hold his gun because elbows can't bend

>tips over super easily

I mean holy shit all I can say is at least he looks cool.

This fucker.

Legends are known for gummy plastic, but this one was so terrible in that regard. His arms felt like they were gonna snap at the bicep and then they actually did.

Not to mention how hard he was to stand. What a disappointing mess he was.

That entire wave was so weak. Most legends waves as of late have been actually. Hasbro as a whole has been pretty poor with the line up until recently, even then most waves are hit or miss bordering mostly on miss. The cheaper plastic, less detailed paint work. I know toybiz weren't without their faults and all but how does a toy company keep finding a fine line balance between progression and regression in quality and walk it like a fine tightrope performer.

The only decent thing out of the year was the Hobgoblin wave and even then it was full of rehashes.

Hasbro and Marvel need to step up their games all around.

Honestly, I'd argue that the Rhino wave has some worthwhile things in it too, but you're not wrong. I want to complete the Hulkbuster, but I can't. Most of the wave just sucks.

That's the name of the game, though. I don't mind most reuse since comic heroes usually do just have the same body with different paint jobs but sometimes it can be inexcusable.

The only waves worth completing are the Hobgoblin wave, as you said, and the Rhino wave in my opinion. Next year is looking better in concept but execution can make or break it.

The only iron men that you'll find that fit your criteria are marvel select/legends. Foreign toy makers are only doing movie suits. However if your willing to spend $200 I would REALLY recommend sen-ti-nel's re:edit line, which has great articulation and sculpting along with led lights for his eyes and reactor. Hey /toy/

I'm not very well versed in the collection of figures, but I recently watch jin-roh wolf brigade and want a kazuki fise figure. I've looked over eBay and amazon and all I find are figs over 150$ or revoltecgs for 16$

So I have two questions

1. Why the fuck is everything so expensive when revoltecgs is pocket change

And 2. Where do I find good quality models for preferably less than 100$

Bonus points for mad max content

I know this is months late, but I'll answer.

The other figs are super expensive because they're 1/6 iirc, also the show didn't get a lot of merchandise, so it goes up in price. 150 isn't that much for figures though nigga

The revoltech is shit and garbage, avoid that thing at all costs. Bad mold, articulation, and lots of pieces get stuck because of the shit paint.

Has anyone here picked up the new wave of Bionicles? I just got them all last week, what is /toy/'s thoughts on them?

My complaints just go to their names, (skull basher, kulta, etc) and their color schemes. There is way too much red where it doesn't belong, and the chest piece is very situational.

What do you think about them?

PLEASE no ccbs shitstorm

I just picked up 2 copies of each set today. One to keep MIB and the other to use for mocs/spare parts. I now have 5 pairs of the new shoulder piece and 6 of the new swords. It seems TLG is shelling out new molds just for the sake of spreading the new pieces, the last wave every set had at least 2 of the piston shells.

All I wish is as OP said more consistent color schemes. 2001 had some of the best looking figures because of the 2 base colors and 1 accent. Now all the ones in Gen2 have tons of gold, trans red and silver. They really need to add elements back, or do add Hershey Brown back and Bronze Gold. The gear boxes work fine, but the Skull Bashers punch function is horrible. I removed the rubber pipe for a quick fix.

The Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder is neato. I had to add longer legs to the MM and the big-ass tool on the SG was condensed to a smaller staff. TMoC has a very nice mold, but doesn't fit well on the skulls.

The Skull Scorpio(n) is hideous, I scrapped him after doing the initial build. It is a nice parts pack, which I think was the sets intended purpose.

Those are my thoughts on those select sets, but there are tons of reviews on BZP I know right and youtube. Hopefully the next wave is better, skeletons get generic fast, which is what happened here.

really depends. usually, it means your fucked. but if they get one in, they will silently restock it. At least Amiami does. HLJ usually doesn't. Amiami also gets in used stuff, so its worth it to check every couple of weeks. But if you need it now, forget it. Head to evilbay or secondhand.

I'm not in a rush to buy figures, so I can wait if I need to. I know Amazon has lots of figures, but they tend to be pricey. Which is fine by me, but it would take longer for me to save up some cash for them.

A friend of mine left me all their old Spawn toys and Transformers. They're in decent condition except for a heaping helping of dust they got before going into storage. They're all obviously loose figures, some are broken, some are intact but I don't know what goes to who. Are any of them worth actually cleaning up to sell, or should I toss them in a bin at a yardsale for pennies just to get rid of them? More pics in coming.

I actually did end up going there, and got some advice (though I don't think I can post multiple images at a time and the captcha shit got annoying after a few posts). I guess there isn't much here to post activity, unless old /toy/ suffers an exodus for some reason. Which seems unlikely, because how badly could anyone fuck up a toy board?

If they start pushing the SJW shit on 4chan much like they did on /v/, /pol/, and /co/ then we may see more traffic.

They already have started doing stuff like that, though very subtly. A few months ago there was a minor shitstorm over some women-like action figures and a mod deleted some posts that were in disfavor over them. No one really noticed, but it still happened.

I don't know much about the the brand of toys you have, but I think my advice apples to most action figures. Most of the toys seem to be in good condition, I would recommend cleaning them in warm water with half a teaspoon of dish soap (Don't do that for the ones with cloth!). For the ones that have pieces that need to be snapped on, do so and for the broken ones, just put them in a bin for now.

I would recommend to save the good looking ones, they probably won't sell for much and are most likely currently unobtainable for a fair price. For the fair ones, sell them on Ebay or at your local toy group or something. You can probably sell or trade them for some good stuff. The really messed up toys are most likely just worth pennies, so you can trash them if you want. You got a good lot, OP. At the very least they will make good shelf-fillers.

I got a pair of Play Arts: Kingdom Hearts 2 Edition figures for $4, they are Sephiroth and Cloud Strife. I am missing the swords for both, and Sephiroth's wing is broken off at the joint. [I have the wing.] What do you all estimate they'd be worth? Market for new condition is $135/125 respectively. Also, should I use a super glue/epoxy to repair the wing, or would that lower the value, even if done very neatly, to the point you could barely even tell upon inspection? [I'm pretty damn good at repairs.] Pic related, it is the two figures. [disregard the middle figurine [sora], I got the pic from a search engine]

Sorry if the post is a little rambling, but I'd deeply appreciate help…

No, sell it broken with lots of pictures, but also say you think if it was repaired it would be invisible.

I think without the weapons It might chop the price on both of them in half. If you're getting your prices from ebay, keep in mind those are the ones that haven't sold. See if you can dig up ones that have to get a better idea of pricerange.

I figured selling it broken was best, and I'm planning on trying to find replacement weapons online. The prices I quoted are from Disney's Amazon account.
