Mexican Authorities Disarm Acapulco Police, Fearing Infiltration By Drug Gangs

Federal and state authorities in Mexico have disarmed the entire police force in the city of Acapulco as investigators look into suspicions that it has been infiltrated by drug gangs.
According to The Associated Press, officers "were stripped of their guns, radios and bullet-proof vests and taken for background checks. Law enforcement duties in the seaside city of 800,000 will be taken over by soldiers, marines and state police."Mexico News Daily reports that the Acapulco municipal government, headed by Mayor Evodio Velázquez Aguirre, had offered its full cooperation with investigators.
As The Washington Post noted last year, "when … Aguirre took office in October 2015, he said, the municipal police force was 'totally out of control.' "
"Half the 1,500 officers had failed federal vetting and background checks. The police had spent much of 2014 on strike to protest salaries and benefits, leaving state and federal forces in charge," the Post said.
The dramatic step was taken "because of suspicion that the force had probably been infiltrated by criminal groups" and due to "the complete inaction of the municipal police in fighting the crime wave," the state government said.
Officials in Guerrero, the state where Acapulco is located on Mexico's southwestern Pacific coast, also issued arrest warrants for two city police commanders accused of murder.
Guerrero is considered one of the most violent regions in Mexico, with criminal gangs overseeing the cultivation of poppies for the production of heroin. The Washington Post last year described Acapulco, once a glittering resort for foreign travelers, "Mexico's murder capital."
The joint operation by Mexico's armed forces — including the country's navy, as well as federal and state police — caused the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City on Tuesday to reiterate a warning to U.S. citizens against travel to Guerrero, where "Violent crime, such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, is widespread."

I have been thinking about the Speed reference in Q's drops. Here is my theory:
Movie
The main story revolves around a bus full of passengers that is rigged to explode if 1 of 2 conditions are true.
1. The bus drops below 50 mph.
2. The passengers are removed.
During the whole operation, the good guys are being monitored on the bus by the bad guys. One of the things they need to do is figure out how the bad guys are monitoring them.
Theory

Swetnick also allegedly owed $40,303 to the IRS stemming from unpaid 2014 taxes, resulting in a federal tax lien on her home in October 2017. That lien was resolved in March of 2018.
Swetnick, an IT consultant who owns a company called International Business Solutions, says in an online resume that she has worked for the State Department, the Department of Justice, and other federal agencies.
Her attorney, Michael Avenatti, said his client currently holds a federal security clearance.
He told DailyMail.com: 'They have been fully paid and are irrelevant to her claims. Why are you digging up dirt on and attacking a sexual abuse victim?'
Swetnick stepped forward on Wednesday to claim in the early 1980s she witnessed Brett Kavanaugh and his high school classmate Mark Judge drug and sexually assault girls during high school parties.
Swetnick wrote in an affidavit that she met Kavanaugh and Judge at a party in 1980 or 1981. Swetnick, who graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1980, was three years older than the boys at the time.
She also attended a public high school, while the two boys attended the elite Washington prep school Georgetown Prep.
Kavanaugh, who has so far denied all of the sexual assault allegations against him, said he has never met Swetnick.
'This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone,' he said on Wednesday. 'I don't know who this is and this never happened.'
Swetnick's parents Martin and her late mother Elaine were both government workers.
Her father worked for NASA as a lunar scientist and her mother Elaine was a geologist with the Atomic Energy Commission.
He told the Washington Post that he was shocked at the allegations, but had been almost entirely estranged from his daughter for 10 years.
He said she was a 'typical girl', and added: 'She was not shy. She was a good-looking girl.'
But he said he had little insight into her high school years as he had been traveling a lot and added: 'She lived her life. We didn't discuss it.'
She had failed to complete college and later became a web developer, gaining government contracts.
'She never went to college, but she bootstrapped herself and became a computer expert,' her father said. ' She's a sharp woman.'
Swetnick said in an affidavit that she attended at least 10 parties with Kavanaugh and Judge between 1981 and 1983. She claims she witnessed them spiking 'punch' drinks with drugs and alcohol in order to get female partygoers incapacitated and run group sex 'trains' on them.
