CNN, MS NOW, Politico Notify Trump They’re Suing over Vetoed White House Access

CNN, MS NOW and Politico announced Monday they will launch legal action against President Donald Trump and unnamed senior administration officials after they were denied access to the White House as punishment for reporting “fake news.”

The lawsuit is alleging the ban constitutes viewpoint discrimination that violates the First Amendment and is the first formal action taken in response to the president’s action.

As Breitbart News reported, reporters from the three news organizations were blocked from access to the presidential mansion on Saturday, a day after Trump made clear his displeasure with their reporting.

Trump did not say what directly prompted the move but added “media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States.”

The president made clear he simply wants fair, untainted coverage.

Trump announced his decision in a Truth Social post:

I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them “alive.” Seems like corruption to me!), from the White House as a result of their constant “reporting” FAKE NEWS!

Trump added he will bar more outlets he deems “Fake News” from the White House campus as well.

Trump has previously criticized MS NOW’s White House correspondent Jake Traylor as being “one of the worst in the business,” and has told Politico‘s Dasha Burns that the outlet has “been so wrong about everything” and that “Politico is fake news.”

AP confirms White House reporters from the two cable networks — Betsy Klein of CNN and Akayla Gardner of MS NOW — went live to report they’d been turned away, their press badges deactivated, when arriving for their jobs at the White House.

Soon after, Politico said its White House reporter Cheyenne Haslett was also denied entry and had her badge confiscated.

The AP report continues to note that three news outlets had hinted at legal action as a response.

“Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists’ credentials because it objected to our reporting,” the outlets said in a joint statement posted on X.

“Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.”

President Trump to Meet with France’s Emmanuel Macron on Monday

President Donald Trump is expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday afternoon on the eve of this week’s United Nations General Assembly debate.

Le Monde, citing information from the White House, reportsTrump and Macron are scheduled to meet in in New York at 05:35 p.m. (EST).

The upcoming encounter will take place just hours after Macron met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Sunday at Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French archipelago off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Dozens of presidents and heads of state are gathering at New York this week to participate in the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly, with high-level debates running from September 22-28. Macron will directly travel from the French archipelago to New York to participate in the U.N. General Assembly, meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the U.N. event.

The French leader is also expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his stay in New York. Per RFI, a spokesperson from he French Foreign Ministry detailed that France is convening a U.N. Security Council meeting on Ukraine that will also touch upon the subject of “Black Sea food security and grain exports.”

Le Figaro detailed that the Élysée Palace is currently in the process of arranging several meetings between Macron and Middle Eastern leaders, including Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian at a time when France faces record-high fuel prices due to soaring oil prices caused by ongoing hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis.

“The French president will also meet with key global players in the field of artificial intelligence, a topic that Paris hopes will receive greater attention in international forums,” Le Firago wrote.

According to Le Figaro and other French outlets, President Macron will deliver his 2026 U.N. General Assembly speech on Tuesday.

Throughout his speech, the Macron is reportedly expected to announce plans to advocate “effective multilateralism,” which Le Figaro, quoting the Élysée Palace, said is “based on coalitions of states and actors capable of producing concrete results.”

Speaking during a Friday press briefing, Macron affirmed the United Nations is presently “in trouble,” and questioned the “effectiveness” of current multilateral action. According to the United Nations, the theme of its upcoming 81st General Debate sessions will be “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”

Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party won a record supermajority in the Duma, authorities announced Monday after a tightly controlled three-day election without parties critical of the Kremlin or the war in Ukraine.

Electoral chief Ella Pamfilova said preliminary results showed United Russia — which has dominated Russian politics for 25 years — won 355 of the Duma’s 450 seats.

The result handed Putin’s party an increased supermajority and beat its previous record of 343 seats. The supermajority means it can change the constitution, if it needs to.

The Kremlin said the result of the first parliamentary election since Moscow sent troops to Ukraine in 2022 showed Russians were united around Putin, who has been in power since New Year’s Eve 1999.

The conflict has killed hundreds of thousands, displaced millions and hit ordinary lives in Russia more than ever this year. Moscow has banned criticism of its military campaign and the only party that called for an end to the war was removed from the election.

“These indicators, of course, point to the highest level of consolidation within Russian society around the head of state,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing with journalists.

Elections under Putin are tightly controlled and few in Russia doubted United Russia would win.

Putin had encouraged Russians to vote in support of troops in Ukraine and Moscow also organised voting in occupied Ukraine.

Pamfilova said turnout was over 59 percent, thanking Russians for voting despite what she called “psychological pressure on Russia.”

Russia’s Ukraine campaign broke its ties with the West. Kyiv hit Moscow with its biggest drone attack of the war Sunday, the last day of voting, killing two people and setting an oil refinery ablaze.

“Despite the extreme situation, we were successful in ensuring the maximum security of these elections,” Pamfilova told a Moscow press conference, thanking security services for ensuring the vote went ahead.

Two employees of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad are suing CNN and one of its senior international correspondents, Arwa Damon, claiming that she was “seriously intoxicated” and “unruly and violent” on July 19 when she allegedly bit them both as they provided her medical aid.

Charles Simons and Tracy Lamar, EMTs working for a private contractor in Baghdad, claim CNN has continued to employ the Emmy-award winning journalist despite her “history of becoming intoxicated and then abusive.”

The 36-year-old was “totally out of control” the day of the incident, forcing embassy staff to call the medics to calm the correspondent, David Jaroslawicz, an attorney for Simons and Lamar, told the Daily News. Damon then boasted her credentials as “a major reporter for CNN” as she struggled and thrashed against Simons and Lamar, each of whom were bitten and bruised during the incident, the suit, filed Monday in New York State supreme court, claims.

“She was biting them both pretty furiously. She has good teeth,” Jaroslawicz said. “Eventually they subdued her.”

A day after the incident, a sober Damon apologized in an email to U.S. Embassy staff, saying she was “beyond embarrassed.”

“It’s been an extremely stressful time, I was exhausted, I had not had proper food all day and clearly miscalculated how my body would handle the alcohol consumed,” Damon wrote in her email. “Needless to say, I am utterly mortified and take full responsibility for my actions, which are inexcusable.”

She went on to say she is “being filled in on the details of my behavior. I am beyond embarrassed. My actions and words were entirely out of my character, and I hope that everyone can at some point forgive me.”

Jaroslawicz said Damon’s email will likely become Exhibit 1 in the suit.

“Legally, this is an admission,” Jaroslawicz said.

The suit claims Damon had a “history of and penchant for violence even when sober.”

The Department of Justice is investigating the incident, Jaroslawicz said, while the State Department is conducting an internal investigation.

Minnesota County Quietly Ends Anti-ICE Reimbursement Fund Due to Rampant Fraud

A Minnesota county has quietly canceled a fund meant to help businesses that have been impacted by the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the fund became inundated by fraudulent claims.

Officials of Hennepin County, home to the left-wing Mecca of Minneapolis, has ended its $2 million fund meant to help businesses that supposedly lost money due to ICE’s Operation Metro Surge after only being able to verify 82 out of 300 claims filed to the fund.

Operation Metro Surge was launched in December and ended with more than 4,000 illegal migrants arrested across Minnesota.

The county entertained about 300 applications for the reimbursement funds, but while trying to verify the filings, officials found that most of the filings are blatantly fraudulent.

“The fact that people, after all this fraud, felt that they could apply and get away with it, I think it’s a problem because clearly there’s no fear out there,” Hennepin County Commissioner Jeffrey Lunde said, according to KARE-TV. “Until we get it where people fear things, then they’re gonna keep doing it.”

Officials found that many of the applications had false addresses or had information scripted by AI and then cut and pasted on other filings. Some supposed businesses did not even exist when county officials tried to track them down.

“Then at a certain point we’re like, ‘OK, we’re getting declining results on that.’ And so we said it’s time to stop the program. So, we just stopped processing at that point,” Lunde said.

Minnesota has been at the center of a massive wave of fraud, much of it committed by the growing Somali community where the $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal has netted dozens of arrests and convictions.

But the Feeding Our Future scam is far from the only scandal of waste, abuse, and fraud seen in the North Star State. The Department of Justice has arrestedand charged many others in a series of separate schemes and frauds that have wasted hundreds of millions of tax dollars.

VIDEO:DOJ Crackdown on Illegal Alien Voting Picks Up Steam with Charges Announced in Seven States

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has put illegal voters on notice with the 2026 midterms only weeks away, announcing charges against 16 people in multiple states for election crimes that include noncitizens casting ballots.

As one DOJ official put it, “American elections are for Americans.”

The charges, which include illegal voting, illegal voter registration, wire fraud, passport and identity fraud, and even firearm offenses were detailed in a lengthy DOJ release Friday.

It was followed by a warning on social media, with the DOJ writing, “If you are not allowed to vote in our elections, you shouldn’t. And if you do, that’s a CRIME. This isn’t a partisan issue!”

In addition to these charges, U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stepped up to a White House lectern on Tuesday and announced charges against 11 individuals for illegally voting or fraudulently registering in the 2022 and 2024 elections.

“We are seeing illegal aliens voting,” Blanche told reporters.

According to the DOJ release, eight noncitizens residing in Texas were charged, while the other cases involved defendants in Idaho, Georgia, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Michigan.

The cases are part of a Trump administration crackdown on threats to the integrity of the U.S. election system.

The examples in the DOJ statement were striking.

According to a Fox News summary:

In Georgia, DOJ said Analiea Milliscent Eccles, a Venezuelan national and DACA recipient, voted nine times between 2008 and 2024. She was charged with voting as a noncitizen and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to vote.

Avila Gomez, a Mexican national residing in Idaho, is accused of falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to register to vote and then voting in May 2022 and November 2024. The indictment also includes wire fraud, passport, identification-document and firearm-related charges.

The DOJ also highlighted a case involving a lawful permanent resident in New Jersey, Santana Coulibaly, who registered to vote in 2016 and voted in federal elections through the 2024 presidential election. Coulibaly also faces charges connected to her naturalization applications.

Fox News spoke with Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald of the DOJ’s Fraud Division. He told the outlet the Trump administration has now charged 50 noncitizens with illegal voting.

“America’s elections are for Americans,” McDonald said.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Fox News a broader investigation is underway.

Mullin told the cable news outlet that officials have more than 1,620 open cases and have made 151 arrests, with 300,000 more suspected cases on the books.

“Every single vote that was at the hands of an illegal (immigrant), canceled out a citizen that was legally registered and able to vote,” Mullin said.

On Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “The Will Cain Show,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) called Democratic Socialist congressional candidate Claire Valdez’s pledge to “fight for Mexico” “embarrassing.”

Luna, a self-identified Mexican American, said Valdez’s statement underscored the need to ban dual citizenship for members of Congress.

“You brought up Mexican Americans,” host Will Cain said. “So, what do you make of the person that wants to join you in Congress, this woman from New York who is proclaiming that she will fight for Mexico?”

Luna replied, “I think that that’s embarrassing, and I say that as someone that, again, is the first Mexican American elected to Congress from the state of Florida. I saw her posting, and she’s calling out corporations, but she can’t call out the corrupt government of Mexico that’s responsible to one of the bloodiest election cycles in the last decade with people actually running for office? I would not be surprised that if people in that very photo are actually on the cut from cartel, because, frankly, the cartel was murdering people that were speaking out about corruption within the government of Mexico.”

“So, you’re running for U.S. Congress, not Mexican Congress,” she continued. “Maybe understand the two. But this is again why I think that members of Congress should require to disclose whether or not they are dual citizens. You cannot have allegiances to two countries.And, in this instance, she’s literally running on a platform that would represent Mexico, not the United States, and that should be called out for what it is.”

U.S. and China open communication line over alarming AI incidents

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Monday that the U.S. and China are speaking directly about the dangers of artificial intelligence and that companies, not the government, are primarily responsible for keeping the fast-growing technology in check.

Mr. Bessent said he set up the “USA-China AI Dialogue” with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng over the weekend. The superpowers plan to alert each other about alarming AI-related incidents.

Officials will reconvene in Shenzhen, China, in two months to discuss the issue.

Speaking to CNBC, Mr. Bessent said the countries will have a recurring line of communication on AI dangers and an “incident line” to report alarming episodes.

Topics of discussion include uncontrollable AI agents or the use of AI by nongovernment organizations that hold influence in a given country.

The countries agreed to talk as debate rages about the potential dangers of unchecked AI, with some predicting it will eradicate humanity.

Some are calling for stringent regulation of the industry, which is reaping huge investments and is intertwined with the stock market.

Mr. Bessent put the onus on companies to behave responsibly, saying the Trump administration has no interest in granting its request for liability waivers.

“These labs need to take responsibility for themselves. They can slow down anytime they want to,” Mr. Bessent said.

Liability waivers for AI companies would be “good business for them, bad business for the American people,” he said.

President Trump has characterized the pursuit of AI technology as a geopolitical race against China and other countries.

“The Chinese models are very powerful, even though they’re open models,” Mr. Bessent said Monday.

However, the Chinese “agreed that we are in the lead,” he said.

The U.S. and China agreed to speak about AI ahead of a state visit to the White House this week by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Mr. Bessent said everything is on track despite unsubstantiated online rumors that Mr. Xi suffered a health incident in recent days.

“Everything’s a go,” the secretary said. “I think we’re going to have a great visit.”

Mr. Bessent said Mr. Trump and Mr. Xi “at the personal level, have a very good relationship, and we try to bring that down to the working level.”

A tiny wild cat hidden away in the cloud forests of Bolivia has become an unlikely tourist attraction, drawing a stream of visitors hoping for a glimpse of the animal that scientists have identified as a brand new species.

There is just one problem: Tigrino, as he has been affectionately dubbed, doesn’t like the attention.

The small, spotted feline with large, leopardlike spots is easily stressed, so caretakers at the wildlife sanctuary near La Paz keep him out of public view, turning away the crowds eager for a closer look. When The Associated Press visited Sunday, Tigrino cautiously emerged from his shelter, sniffed the air and paced around for a few minutes before slipping back into the foliage.

The discovery published Thursday in the journal Current Biology set off a flurry of excitement on social media. Visitors from across Bolivia and beyond have flocked to the Senda Verde Wildlife Sanctuary, where Tigrino has lived since 2017, when a family brought him there after trying unsuccessfully to make a house cat of him.

“Tigrino has become, in just a few days, an ambassador for conservation,” said sanctuary co-founder Marcelo Levy, adding that the new species designation has helped raise awareness about the need to protect wild cats and their habitat in Bolivia’s tropical forests.

“He’s such a tiny animal, and he has become something so important,” Levy said.
