UFO files: Avi Loeb puzzled by unusual objects in sightings being soundless

Harvard University theoretical physicist Avi Loeb says the Pentagon’s latest batch of UFO files is particularly perplexing because of one specific detail.

“What was most puzzling based on the new information is that these objects were moving up to five times the speed of sound, but not making any sound,” Loeb told “NewsNation Prime.”

Friday’s drop included declassified documents, plus an audio recording and transcript of a Project Blue Book presentation given in March 1952 by Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt, which Congressman Eric Burlison, R-Mo., had been pushing to have released.

Ruppelt explains that 20% of the 800 UFO reports the Air Force was investigating were still unidentified.

He also noted certain concentrations of sightings, some around U.S. ports as well as around White Sands, a hub for missile testing, like Los Alamos and Camp Hood in Texas.

The disclosure marked the sixth release under President Donald Trump’s administration in an effort to make records about UFOs public.

One of the files could be a national security issue: Avi Loeb

Loeb also spotlighted another report in the files, which addressed video footage from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform over the Middle East last year.

The footage showed six small spherical objects that are grouped and are moving at 480 miles per hour, 63% of the speed of sound.

“There aren’t any drones that can move that fast, not to speak about the fact that usually formation or clusters of drones move much slower, because otherwise they are at risk of colliding with each other,” he said.

The video also left Loeb with questions because the cluster of drones “can’t really communicate fast enough to move together at that speed,” he said.

“So that is extremely puzzling. Unless the Chinese have some drone technology we’re not aware of. At the very least, we’re dealing with a national security item of great importance.”

The 965-G Mystery and Blue Book's Unfinished Business

A second thread of the release looks backward more than seventy years.

It includes a long-sought audio recording of a March 1952 briefing given by Air Force Captain Edward Ruppelt, the officer credited with coining the term "UFO" and who went on to lead Project Blue Book.

In it, Ruppelt discusses the Air Force's work with the Battelle Memorial Institute and says nearly one-fifth of roughly 800 early sightings reviewed at the time came from witnesses he considered credible and were never resolved — a review that predates Blue Book's formal launch that same month.

The batch also contains a report on an unidentified object spotted off Okinawa in November 1950, a 1952 memo dismissing any attempt to recover it as impractical, and a previously known 1953 document estimating that an object accelerated at 965 times the force of gravity, a figure no outlet has independently confirmed.

The Ruppelt recording has its own backstory: Republican Rep. Eric Burlison had spent months pressing MIT's Lincoln Laboratory to locate and hand over the tape, according to NewsNation.

Friday's release suggests that campaign paid off — the recording is now public record rather than still pending.

New Video: From a 1952 Utah Swarm to 2025 Orbs Over the Middle East

Visually, the standout is Kodachrome footage filmed near Tremonton, Utah, showing a cluster of objects moving in formation, according to LiveNOW from FOX.

More recent material includes a brief infrared clip, just 59 seconds long, filmed over the East China Sea during 2023 and passed to investigators by the Indo-Pacific Command, along with footage of small metallic spheres moving in formation at roughly 480 miles per hour — about 770 kilometers per hour — over the Middle East in 2025.

What Investigators Say They Haven't Found

The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office maintains that small metallic orbs remain the most frequently reported type of UAP and that no case it has reviewed shows verifiable evidence of extraterrestrial technology, though the agency says many files remain open.

Friday's batch is the sixth published under the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, or PURSUE, following earlier releases on May 8, May 22, June 12, July 10 and August 7, drawing on material from the Department of War, the FBI, the CIA, the State Department and the White House, per the department's own official release.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the effort is "in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency" and framed decades of classification as fuel for public speculation.

What Comes Next

Officials say additional batches will keep arriving on a rolling basis.

With the Ruppelt tape now out, Burlison and other lawmakers are shifting pressure toward other contractor-held recordings and historical files they say remain locked away.

What we discovered

To understand how these strange structures formed, we combined several investigative techniques.

First, we mapped the trenches using drone and aerial photography, as well as detailed satellite-based digital landscape models. Then, the layers of soil and rock were measured in boreholes and caves.

Finally, we used specialized geophysical techniques to "see" inside the Earth, somewhat similar to the way an X-ray enables us to see our internal body structures from the outside.

Our work demonstrated that the shallow surface trenches sit above deep zones of broken rock and, in places, line up with known cave systems and sinkholes.

This means the trenches are merely muted surface expressions of deeply buried cave systems. These systems are slowly, over millions of years, "collapsing upwards" through the overlying rock layers to reach the surface.

Caves are scientific archives

The results of this work will change how scientists interpret cave landscapes globally. They show that to explain the surface structures we see, we must look deeper than we might think.

Understanding where voids may exist underground can be important for planning both surface (buildings, roads) and subsurface (tunnels, sewers) engineering works, mitigating geological hazards and accessing and protecting groundwater resources.

Pockmarked karst landscapes (where rocks are dissolved by water, resulting in caves and sinkholes) represent 15% of the ice-free Earth's surface and supply water to 10–25% of the global population.

More fundamentally, caves are important scientific archives. Because caves are sheltered from surface weathering and erosion processes, they can preserve snapshots of ancient environments and ecosystems that would otherwise be lost to time.

Furthermore, they may host an array of strange and vulnerable life forms that have evolved and adapted in isolation. These are some of the least studied organisms on Earth.

To learn more, we must first locate the cave structures. And the results of our study could be very important in this regard.

Caves on other worlds

The implications of this new work even extend beyond our own planet. Because caves offer a stable environment and shelter from damaging space radiation, they provide promising exploration sites for life on other planets.

Mapping of planetary surfaces within our solar system has identified numerous potential caves, including some thought to be related to karst on Mars.

The Nullarbor's dry, stable surface is an excellent analogue to help locate the subtle surface fingerprints of hidden cave systems on planets that now lack a dynamic water cycle—such as Mars.

Even if the caves are barren of life, they could be attractive bases for future human explorers.

How many other apparently simple landscapes around the world or on other planets are concealing large cave systems underneath?

We don't yet know, but the trenches we studied are unlikely to be unique. Similar subtle landforms are likely to have been overlooked elsewhere, too.

Sometimes the most remarkable discoveries await us in understated landscapes, in plain view, that we think we already understand.

Potential export restrictions, or extensions of existing restrictions, are compounding the squeeze. A report on Tuesday said Moscow was considering extending its diesel export ban, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters that day he was "open to exploring" a US diesel export ban.

The squeeze was even more severe in refining spreads. The US heating oil crack, which measures the difference between fuel and crude prices, surged to $117 a barrel on Wednesday, the highest level in Bloomberg data going back to 2009.

Elor Azaria shot Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, an alleged knife attacker who was already incapacitated by IDF troops, in a controversial 2016 case

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has cleared the criminal record of former IDF soldier Elor Azaria, who was convicted of manslaughter for shooting a wounded and incapacitated Palestinian dead in Hebron in 2016.

The case dates back to 2016, when Azaria, then an IDF sergeant and medic, was filmed shooting alleged knife attacker Abdel Fattah al-Sharif in Hebron’s Tel Rumeida neighborhood.

According to accounts of the incident, al-Sharif and another Palestinian man, Ramzi Aziz al-Tamimi al-Qasrawi, approached an Israeli military post and stabbed an Israeli soldier, lightly injuring him. Since 2025, Trump Made More Stock Trades Than All 535 Congress Members Combined

This amounts to more than 80 trades per market day for the president in his first 17 months back in office.

President Donald Trump made nearly 30,000 stock trades since his return to office, marking a far higher volume of trades than all 535 members of Congress combined, a new Bloomberg analysis finds.

Between his inauguration in January 2025 and the end of June, Trump and his team made nearly 28,700 trades, his financial disclosures show. That amounts to roughly 80 trades per market day for nearly a year and a half.

In that period, House lawmakers reported making 19,400 stock trades, while senators reported 2,900, for a total of 22,300 transactions. A few lawmakers were responsible for a large portion of the trades, like Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California), who reported 8,000 transactions in that time.

Trump’s trades have been a major boon for him, as the only modern president who’s ever disclosed trading individual stocks. Previous reports have found that Trump’s 2025 trades alone were worth as much as $1.8 billion, and his trades in the first three months of 2026 were worth as much as $750 million.

These trades have come as he’s driven policy for and outright publicized companies that he has bought stock in; a recent report by Democrats on Congress’s Joint Economic Committee found that Trump has made up to $15.5 million in profits on his oil and gas holdings as the companies’ stocks have risen due to his war on Iran.

Bloomberg also highlights a time when Trump bought as much as $1.4 million in DoorDash stock in the first quarter of 2026, then, in April, staged a stunt where he used DoorDash to deliver McDonald’s to the White House.

The White House has denied accusations of insider trading or improper conduct, saying that his stock portfolio is managed independently and uses a strategy based on computer models. “Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence, or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold,” spokesperson Davis Ingle said.

But Trump has also outright opposed any legislation that may prevent him from conducting stock trades — even while he’s backed proposals to bar members of Congress from doing the same.

Last year, Trump attacked Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) for supporting the inclusion of presidents in his bill to ban Congress from trading individual stocks, calling him a “second-tier Senator” and a “pawn” of Democrats.

Even still, during his State of the Union address this year, Trump called for a congressional stock ban to be passed so that members “cannot corruptly profit from using insider information.” Ignoring Trump’s trades, Republicans are using some members’ supposed support of a stock trading ban as a selling point for the party ahead of the midterm elections.

Though construction has not yet started, President Donald Trump announced Sunday his planned Triumphal Arch project would take on a key national security role.

“At the strong request of the United States Military, and for National Security purposes, I have agreed to convert the magnificent Triumphal Arch, planned since the Civil War Era many years ago, at the Receptive Circle adjoining the Arlington Memorial Bridge, into a top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch, to house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large numbers of drones, plus Snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas, and additionally have and hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage,” the president posted on Truth Social.

After teasing it in October 2025, Trump has continued to promote his vision for a 250-foot triumphal arch situated between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The arch will “celebrate the triumphs of the American people, inspire patriotism and love of country, and beautify our nation’s capital,” the Department of the Interior, as its sponsor, declared in its project materials.

The arch is currently awaiting final approval from the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), a federal review panel dominated by Trump appointees. The Commission had been chaired by William Scharf, Trump’s staff secretary who has since been appointed White House counsel, effective Sept. 1. Trump appointed Mark Paolettal, the general counsel of the Office of Management and Budget, as well as the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to be the new NCPC chairman on Aug. 26. It does not currently appear that NCPC will consider the project for final approval at its Oct. 1 meeting.

Meanwhile, the project is the subject of a lawsuit filed in February by Public Citizen, a left-wing group — partly funded by leftist billionaire George Soros — which advertises itself as an advocate for consumer protection and government transparency.

Among the lawsuit’s plaintiffs are three Vietnam War veterans and diplomats who object to the proposed arch. They argue the arch “would dishonor their military and foreign service and the legacy of their comrades and other veterans buried at Arlington National Cemetery,” as well as “degrade their personal experience” when traveling through and observing the area.

Iran’s military command says it’s been informed US plans to resume strikes

Iran’s central military command said in a statement on Sunday that it had received information that the United States, with the backing of some regional countries, was preparing to resume military actions against it, state media reported.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a 35-year-old male with no personal or family history of malignancy and no identified hereditary cancer predisposition who was diagnosed with primary cardiac intimal sarcoma of the left atrium with multifocal cerebral metastases 170 days after his first dose, and 146 days after his second dose, of the Pfizer-BioNTech BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. The diagnosis was established only at surgical resection. Comprehensive molecular profiling at a CLIA-certified reference laboratory demonstrated MDM2 and KDR (VEGFR2) amplification, consistent with intimal sarcoma. Whole-body FDG PET/CT showed no extracardiac disease besides cerebral metastases, supporting a cardiac primary. In 2025, archived tissue from the resected left atrial tumor underwent two qualitative research-use analyses. Polymerase chain reaction of total tissue DNA detected three codon-optimized vaccine spike (S) protein coding fragments — distinguishable from wild-type SARS-CoV-2 — and the plasmid backbone origin of replication (ORI) sequence; the SV40 enhancer was not detected. A separate analysis of the same material found no viral S protein nor SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein, ruling out infection as a source of genetic material. Despite multimodal treatment including surgical resection, doxorubicin-based chemotherapy, radiotherapy, gamma knife radiosurgery, and a total of four craniotomies, the patient developed progressive multifocal cerebral metastases, sustained an intratumoral brainstem hemorrhage, and died 675 days after diagnosis. Serial neuroimaging documented a tumor volume doubling time of approximately 10 days. At that rate, growing the 175 cm³ primary from a single transformed cell would have taken 350 to 385 days — and over 900 days at published sarcoma doubling times — yet only 170 days elapsed between vaccination and diagnosis, indicating acceleration of pre-existing occult disease.

Conclusions: This case documents the recovery of vaccine-derived plasmid DNA sequences from tumor tissue in a patient who developed an exceptionally rare and aggressive cardiac malignancy within 170 days of mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, in the absence of any identified oncologic risk factor. mRNA COVID-19 vaccination is a potential determinant of this malignancy. These findings add to converging in vitro, case-level and population-level evidence concerning the oncogenic potential of residual plasmid DNA in mRNA vaccine products and warrant urgent systematic investigation.

US issues security alerts across Middle East

Washington has warned that renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis could “escalate rapidly”

The US has issued security alerts for its citizens across the Middle East, warning of further escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.

The notices cover Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman.

“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions,” the US State Department said on Saturday night.

“Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports. This military conflict has the potential to escalate rapidly,” the notice read, urging Americans to refrain from traveling to the Middle East.

“Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other US interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.”

The alert came amid anticipation of potential new US strikes on Iran or Houthi targets in Yemen, as Saudi Arabia reportedly sought assistance in repelling the militant group’s offensive against forces of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid said US President Donald Trump cut his weekend stay at Camp David short and will return to the White House on Saturday evening, one day earlier than planned.

CNN national security analyst Alex Plitsas cited sources as saying that Trump held a meeting at Camp David to “deliberate and review Yemen strike options.” ABC News previously reported, citing US officials, that Washington would limit its involvement to providing intelligence and targeting assistance to Saudi Arabia.

In recent weeks, the Houthis have expanded the territory they control in western Yemen, capturing the port city of Mokha and Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key shipping chokepoint connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

Saudi Arabia recently suspended operations on its East-West oil pipeline, also known as Petroline, after it was damaged in a drone attack that Riyadh blamed on Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The pipeline carries crude oil from the kingdom’s eastern oil fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.

The Houthis previously declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia in response to what the group described as an illegal siege of the parts of Yemen under its control.

A Saudi-led coalition first intervened in the Yemeni civil war in 2015 after the Houthis captured the capital, Sanaa, the previous year. The current hostilities mark the biggest escalation in the conflict since the UN-brokered truce of 2022.
