2026 Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test
FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at approximately 2:20 p.m. Eastern Time, Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
About the Test
FEMA is required by law to conduct a nationwide test of the public alert and warning system at least once every three years. The Emergency Alert System is a national public warning system made up of thousands of radio, television, cable, satellite, and wireline broadband providers. These tests allow FEMA to identify technical or operational issues before the system is needed during an actual emergency.
What to Expect
On November 17, 2026, radio and television broadcasters nationwide will interrupt normal programming to relay a test message.
- The test message will state, “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This is only a test. No action is required by the public.”
- The test message will include standard EAS alert tones to support accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The small, northern constellation Triangulum harbors this magnificent face-on spiral galaxy, Messier 33. Its popular names include the Pinwheel Galaxy or just the Triangulum Galaxy. M33 is over 50,000 light-years in diameter, third largest in the Local Group of galaxies after the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), and our own Milky Way. About 3 million light-years from the Milky Way, M33 is itself thought to be a satellite of the Andromeda Galaxy and astronomers in these two galaxies would likely have spectacular views of each other's grand spiral star systems. As for the view from the Milky Way, this sharp telescopic image shows off M33's blue star clusters and pinkish star forming regions along the galaxy's loosely wound spiral arms. In fact, the cavernous NGC 604 is the brightest star forming region, seen here at about the 5 o'clock position from the galaxy center. Like M31, M33's population of well-measured variable stars have helped make this nearby spiral a cosmic yardstick for establishing the distance scale of the Universe.

You may recall that SBF was a big advocate of a regulatory structure for cryptocurrency and was one of the largest donors to the Democrat Party back when he was a free man. He worked assiduously on Washington connections and made much the same set of arguments for regulation and how it should be implemented as the AI titans do now. The parallels are everywhere, and that is no accident. It is largely the same group of people.
Even the "whistleblowers" are part of this same set of people, which should at least make you suspicious. I can't wait to learn about the bizarre Polycules, should they exist, and wonder why such unattractive people wind up in the same cult.
Now the Effective Altruists start with some non-crazy ideas — that we should prioritize our charitable giving to the highest-value projects, not the most sexy ones. But from there, they go off the rails into arguments such as "giving money to rebuild Notre Dame is a form of murder, since that money could be used to save lives.
And one of the principles that pops out here, as we saw in the FTX scandal, is the strong belief that making gobs of money is necessary to be as altruistic as possible. SBF often justified his sketchy practices by claiming he did so much good with it.

Backed into a political corner, first-term New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill held a press conference earlier this summer to let everyone know that she was on top of a preventable assault on election integrity. “There’s still a lot we don’t know about, why this happened and why it took so long for the public to know about it,” Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., who chairs the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, said this week during a Capitol Hill hearing on New Jersey’s voter registration debacle.
Titled “Restoring Election Integrity: Oversight of Voter Fraud in New Jersey,” the hearing gave Republicans on the subcommittee the chance to shine more light on an issue that Democrats desperately want to keep in the dark, while offering subcommittee Democrats like the ever race-baiting Rep. Jasmine Crockett the opportunity to turn the whole thing into a sideshow on Orange Man Bad. Judiciary Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, the insufferable blowhard rep. from Maryland, jumped in for his own dose of Trump Derangement Syndrome theater.
In between the grandstanding, election integrity experts testified that the reported noncitizens on New Jersey’s voter rolls are likely just the “tip of the iceberg” in the Garden State — and in a lot of other states. That’s troubling less than 50 days until November’s general election.
In late July, Sherrill held her “it wasn’t me” press conference to confess that some 6,600 noncitizens had landed on New Jersey’s voter rolls in 2023 and 2024 — and about 400 went on to vote. She has since amended the numbers, asserting that only about 340 of the 6,600 “accidentally” registered noncitizens voted. The state has removed and placed approximately 5,100 of the wrongly registered in “deleted status,” the governor said. Another 1,450 or so have had their registration status changed to rejected, pending further review.
Sherill blames the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission’s longtime license printing vendor for what she has described as a software glitch. A spokeswoman for the firm, IDEMIA, which has contracts with several New Jersey agencies as well as the federal government, has said “there was no glitch or software error,” and the problem was not on the vendor’s end.
Van Drew said the company has been cooperating with his subcommittee’s investigation; Sherrill and her administration have not.

At the beginning of August, Townhall reported on a young migrant woman who claimed she was trafficked and abused because of Xavier Becerra and the Biden administration's policies concerning unaccompanied migrant children. That came on the heels of a damning whistleblower report about the thousands of missing migrant children.
Tarek Kadourah was a site supervisor for MVM in the summer of 2021.
"MVM received a contract with Health and Human Services," Kadourah said. "Kids that were rescued, obviously. Their job was to make sure that they were fed, kept healthy, and then transported to sponsors. That transportation part is where we came in."
Kadourah said he was a liaison, meaning he was the on-site supervisor working directly with Health and Human Services (HHS) and the White House.
"I was the middleman. So I oversaw everything. The children always seemed to look like they were scared and uncomfortable and vulnerable, when they were supposed to be safe," he continued. "To me, those kids looked like, there's no other way to say it, they were still being trafficked."
Agents whom Kadourah worked with had concerns too.
"They were worried. Because, I mean, they felt like they were accomplices in a human trafficking operation," Kadourah said.
"He was telling me every time he was dropping off some of those kids, they would immediately cry and refuse to get in a van or the vehicle of that sponsor at the drop-off site," he added. "So I asked him, 'Why? Did you ask the kids why?' and they said they didn't know who those people were."
"And when I said the agents had paperwork from HHS saying that … this person was somehow related to that child — uncle, aunt, sister, whatever, right? None of it was verified," Kadourah said. "So Health and Human Services was giving us paperwork that was not fricking verified."
"All they were doing was picking up phone calls and saying, 'Oh, okay. You're so-and-so's uncle whatever?' and then stamping it and moving it forward," he went on. "They were treating it just like Becerra said: like assembly line. That's exactly how it ran."
Kadourah continued, "At this point, they were noticing a pattern. When it's not just one or two children crying, refusing to get in a vehicle with strangers, but it's like 20, 30 of them crying, saying, 'We don't know who these people are,' 'That's not my aunt and uncle.' That raised a lot of red flags and I think that's when they completely shut me out."
Under Becerra's watch, 319,000 migrant children went missing. To date, roughly 140,000 remain unaccounted for, and most were under the age of 13. Federal investigators, prosecutors, and Becerra's own staff said some of these children were released into "sexual exploitation" and "brutal jobs," including night-shift factory work, slaughterhouses, and construction sites.

I remember in my early 20's being broke and having no food in the fridge and going prairie chicken hunting with my half-breed native friend that didn't need a hunting license. Used to fish a lot as a kid too and learned to clean 'em and scale 'em back then too. Never had the chance yet to try bow hunting though, always wanted to try that. Are you aware that in 2019 Ilhan Omar changed her birth year from 1981 to 1982 on her Minnesota legislative page, Wikipedia, and her U.S. Congressional page? After I published a video explaining that she was actually 18 years old when her father became 'eligible' to apply for citizenship… Omar changed her birth year just a few days later. She had to maintain her story of deriving citizenship through her father as a minor. So, she changed her birth year.

The MN SOS does not verify citizenship of the foreign born. The office has adopted a 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy. Refugees in Minnesota do not need to officially naturalize to gain all the benefits of being an American citizen. They are voting.

At the time, I wrote that the visitor "may be reshaping more than science—its presence is quietly reorganizing planetary defense on a global scale." - Samuel López | USA Herald (Dated 12/2/2025).
That sentence reads differently this week.
On September 14, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink told the Air, Space and Cyber Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, that the United States now has, in his words, "on-orbit space control weapons capable of defending the joint force against hostile adversary action."
It was the first time a U.S. official has publicly confirmed that armed systems are already circling the planet, ending decades of official silence on a capability long assumed but never acknowledged.
Meink did not say what the weapons are, how long they have been up there, or whether they strike kinetically or through other means. He did call the phrasing "very well thought out," a detail that suggests the disclosure was deliberate rather than a slip up.
Space-policy watchers reacted with something close to alarm.
Victoria Samson of the Secure World Foundation called the admission "huge," noting that no prior U.S. official had ever said anything like it, and warned that Washington has effectively invited Beijing and Moscow to stop being coy about their own orbital arsenals.
Other analysts framed it as a deterrence signal timed to a moment when China and Russia continue to test counterspace capabilities of their own, and as part of a broader push to establish the Space Force as a warfighting branch rather than a support arm.

Last fall's drills were the largest planetary-defense exercises on record: the European Space Agency ran a three-day activation of its full detection-and-response triad, Japan staged an accelerated asteroid-coordination exercise across civilian, military, and commercial operators, and the U.S. Space Force moved up a high-altitude orbital-tracking rehearsal originally slated for late 2026.
Countries that almost never disclose this kind of activity, including Australia, South Korea, and Brazil, took part in joint drills built around tracking "non-gravitationally accelerated objects," language that had one obvious referent at the time.
The object driving that language has not gotten less strange. 3I/ATLAS did display an anti-tail pointed sunward, brightness swings inconsistent with a simple icy nucleus, and a small non-gravitational acceleration that standard cometary outgassing does not fully account for.
At the time, Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb floated a more provocative reading: hypothesizing that the anti-tail could be a loose cloud of compact objects traveling alongside the main body which he referred to as a “swarm of objects” rather than an ordinary gas plume.
It's worth being clear about what that is and isn't. It is a hypothesis from one prominent but frequently contrarian astronomer, not a conclusion that was ever adopted by the wider community that has studied the object.
The strongest link between this week’s announcement of active on-orbit space control weapons and the 2025 space drills during the peak of interest in 3I/Atlas is the push to detect, track, and understand orbital objects.
More specifically, it highlights the drive to gain a tactical edge in tracking "non-gravitational accelerated objects"—a capability at the bleeding edge of space defense.
The International Asteroid Warning Network organized a 3I/ATLAS observing campaign from November 27, 2025, through January 27, 2026.
Its purpose was to improve measurements of comet positions, which are complicated by diffuse clouds and tails that can distort calculations. The object supplied a useful target for an existing training objective.
Europe also demonstrated measurable gains. On November 14, 2025, ESA reported improving 3I/ATLAS’s predicted location tenfold by combining Earth observations with measurements from its ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter.
Watching from near Mars provided a different angle, allowing scientists to narrow the object’s position more accurately.
Military exercises held during the same period provide a more direct connection to U.S. and allied readiness.
Resolute Space 2025, which began July 8, tested command arrangements and cooperation with allies under demanding military scenarios.
An Australian officer served as deputy commander for the exercise’s friendly forces. Officials reported identifying lessons for improving coordination across commands and partner forces.
On April 17, 2025, the Space Force released its Space Warfighting framework, outlining orbital, electromagnetic and cyberspace warfare.
Planetary defense and military space control therefore remain distinct and active missions. The former addresses natural impact hazards; the latter concerns operating in space against adversaries.
Whether that shared foundation reflects real technology transfer, parallel investment, or coincidence is a fair question.

NASA’s Hubble Spots an Out-of-Sync Galaxy

Though the spiral galaxy in this new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope seems serene, it hides a chaotic secret.
This galaxy is NGC 4698, and it lies about 55 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. It’s one of over a thousand galaxies in the Virgo Cluster, the nearest large cluster of galaxies bound together by gravity.
As a spiral galaxy similar to our own Milky Way galaxy, NGC 4698 has spiral arms that curl around within a thin disk of stars, gas, and dust.
These arms are marked by opaque clumps of brown dust and dotted with small collections of bright blue stars. Unlike many other spiral galaxies, like this one recently photographed by Hubble, NGC 4698’s delicate spiral arms are only prominent in the outer reaches of the disk; spiral arms often wind down to the very center of a galaxy, but NGC 4698’s spiral arms appear to shy away from its glowing center. The arms instead hover in a ring-like structure around the perimeter of the galaxy.
NGC 4698’s center is dominated by an elongated galactic bulge . The diffuse off-white glow of the galaxy’s bulge comes from stars smaller, older, and cooler than the massive blue stars that dot the galaxy’s outer disk.
These tightly packed stars orbit a supermassive black hole containing millions of times the Sun’s mass. Scientists have found signs that this black hole is actively growing, drawing gas inward with its gravitational pull.
With a flat, starry disk and diffusely glowing center, NGC 4698 looks a lot like a typical spiral galaxy — but this galaxy is far from normal. NGC 4698 is one of only a few known spiral galaxies with a bulge that extends out from the disk at a right angle.
The elongation is faintly visible in this Hubble image, which shows the ghostly glow of the starry bulge peeking above and below the dusty disk. What’s more, the stars and gas nearest the galaxy’s center rotate perpendicular to the rest of the disk!
What could cause a galaxy to be so out of sync? Astronomers have found that the culprit likely lies outside the galaxy.
If NGC 4698 funneled in gas from an outside source, the newly collected gas could have formed a disk of gas and stars in the galaxy’s center, at an angle relative to the rest of the disk.
Some observations suggest that this galaxy once experienced a minor galactic merger, as evidenced by a short ‘tail’ of hydrogen streaming from one side of the galaxy.
The data used to create this image come from an observing program focusing on galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. This program zooms in on the details of these relatively nearby galaxies, such as individual star clusters and nebulae.
At the same time, researchers will use these data to take stock of the larger picture, learning how a galaxy’s journey through a cluster affects the galaxy’s evolution and ability to form new stars.
