Traffic analysis is the process of intercepting and examining messages in order to deduce information from patterns in communication, which can be performed even when the messages are encrypted. In general, the greater the number of messages observed, or even intercepted and stored, the more can be inferred from the traffic. Traffic analysis can be performed in the context of military intelligence, counter-intelligence, or pattern-of-life analysis, and is a concern in computer security.

Traffic analysis /meta data can tell everything about an individual without ever knowing real world identities. Where we shop, how we vote, and if we vote, why and for whom. If a subject's real world identity matters, it is trivial to 'unmask'and identify by name, social security number or any other registry system.

But there's no reason to care about our real-world identities. An opponent doesn't need to have a name to manipulate an individual news feed and to provide specially prepared media content that will prompt the target to voluntarily choose a given course of action - to act and think in ways harmful to that individual and the community they are part of.

Media news content can make us angry or sad, stimulate us sexually, make us recall old grievances, encourage us to drink or take drugs, make us feel more threatened by, or less conscious of, race, religion and economic status. Using out metadata allows marketers and digital enemies to modify that news and media content that shapes our beliefs and forms our understanding of the world.

To defeat traffic analysis and remove the possibility of this type of control we need to engineer a specific type of advanced network.

An identity based secure network which use a series of specially configured servers called a "mix net" which scrambles the data of millions of users messages at the same time; encrypting, mixing and routing the messages through multiple servers, re mixing and encrypting at each stage, making it impossible for others to determine where a message came from, defeating "traffic analysis."

Mix nets are only one component of a secure information distribution system, one that the world needs to secure our common information supply and prevent the most common and widely used forms of surveillance, manipulation and social control.

The chief requirement of a secure network is identity. We need a single, permanent lifetime identity in virtual space for the same reason we need one in the real world.

If our friends or neighbors could switch identities and appear to be someone else in the real world we would not know who to trust. We'd be surrounded by shapeshifters -like the internet -where there is no fixed or permanent identity. On an anonymous insecure network it is possible to spoof credentials and present a convincing and deceptive appearance to cheat and manipulate others.

We need a single permanent lifetime identity - but we also need assured anonymity.

There are lots of good reasons for someone to want to be anonymous. To make a gift. To blow the whistle on crime. To buy and sell without giving your real-world identity to a merchant who sells it to others.

On a secure "identity based" network it is possible to do everything anonymously - credentials can be split many ways. If an anonymous user wants to offer proof of expertise while remaining anonymous it is possible to do that. We can display credentials and others can see they are real without revealing any more of ourselves.

Networks are not secure for anybody until they are secure for everybody.

We need to build the information system of the future as an international engineering project, so the safety and engineering are open to all the nations who will depend on this infrastructure to support civilization.

We can not allow an enemy to capture our information systems again. The way to prevent this happening is to make the network a public utility owned and controlled by users used to provide media content provided by trusted individuals or companies, unmanipulated by anyone else. Secure for all, because it is secure from all, even the people who build it.

The NSA was once jokingly referred to as No Such Agency because of its penchant for secrecy. The National Reconnaissance Office, founded in 1961, was only declassified in 1992—before that, it didn’t officially exist. NATIONAL UNDERWATER RECONNAISSANCE OFFICE

It took thirteen years for the public to learn about the existence of the National Reconnaissance Office, by way of a short piece in the Washington Post. The National Underwater Reconnaissance Office, on the other hand, remained a secret for twenty-nine years. Where the NRO began as a joint CIA-U.S. Air Force agency, the NURO is the intersection of the CIA and U.S. Navy. The agency was pivotal during the Cold War, enabling the United States to spy on the Soviet Union using submarines and by tapping undersea communication lines.

SPECIAL COLLECTION SERVICE

Sometimes the Utah Data Center isn’t enough and the NSA needs to get hands-on in foreign countries. Sydney news: Train timetables slashed due to falling passengers, isolating staff

From today, NSW public transport services will run on a weekend timetable due to staffing impacts from COVID-19.

There will be fewer buses, trains and light rail services for a number of weeks until further notice.

Transport for NSW chief operating officer Howard Collins said patronage across the network was down 70 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels.

"It's about maintaining the continuity of those services and it's dealing with the fact that [with] the impact of COVID-19, like any other business, we're starting to see hundreds of staff off or isolated and also there are less people travelling," he said.

He also said almost 1,000 workers were in isolation after testing positive or becoming close contacts.

"If you are thinking your train or bus is going to turn up on a Monday to Friday schedule … it's going to be a weekend service so check [the timetable] and allow some more time," he said.

Fox News anchor Bret Baier confronted CDC Director Rochelle Walensky Sunday over several topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including whether she could explain how many COVID deaths in the United States are "from COVID" versus "with COVID."

What is the background?

More than 836,000 Americans have died from COVID, but the government has yet to distinguish deaths from COVID and deaths with COVID. The key difference being: Did the person die from their COVID infection or did they die for another reason, but tested positive for COVID before they passed away?

In fact, the CDC explains that up to 95% — or perhaps even more — of all COVID deaths happened in Americans with co-morbidities or other conditions.

"There were co-morbidities or other conditions listed on the death certificate for as many as 95% of all COVID-19 deaths," the CDC explains. "The other 5% of death certificates in which COVID-19 was the only condition listed was likely related to a lack of detail listed about other conditions present at the time of death."

During an interview on "Fox News Sunday," anchor Bret Baier confronted Walensky about whether she could explain how many Americans have died from COVID versus with COVID.

"How many of the 836,000 deaths in the U.S. linked to COVID are 'from COVID' or how many are 'with COVID,' but they had other co-morbidities? Do you have that breakdown?" Baier asked.

Walensky, however, failed to provide the breakdown.

"Yes, of course with Omicron we’re following that very carefully," Walensky said "Our death registry, of course, takes a few weeks to — and is a — takes a few weeks to collect, and of course, Omicron has just been with us for a few weeks, but those data will be forthcoming."

Later in the interview, Baier asked Walensky if her leadership has eroded the public's trust in the CDC, which she promised to repair when Joe Biden appointed her to lead the agency.

"Do you think that it's fair to say that the trust and confidence the public has gone down with the CDC?" Baier asked.

In response, Walenksy noted how "hard" her job has been.

"You know, this is hard," Walenksy said. "We have ever-evolving science with an ever-evolving variant and my job is to provide updated guidance in the context of rapidly rising cases. And that is what we've done and I'm here to explain it to the American people and I'm committed to continuing to do so and to continuing to improve."
