You are not alone in this. There are many in your same situation and also many in other parts of the world who have it worse. There is strength in numbers but, you have to take initiative sometimes. A simple hello in the store can change your life, the conversation could lead to an already established group who is working towards holding elected officials accountable. Another place to look would be school board or city/county commission meetings.

Many citizens have become very vocal at these meetings across the states and would be an excellent way to meet some individuals who have already started the fight.
