A federal judge has handed the Biden administration a crushing defeat by refusing to block Texas’ Heartbeat Law, which forbids providers from administering abortions outside of six weeks.

“BREAKING: A federal judge has denied Joe Biden’s emergency request to block the Texas abortion ban that has saved almost 2,000 babies from abortion,” LifeNews reported.

“United States District Judge Robert Pitman in a one page decision this afternoon denying Biden’s request to block the law while the lawsuit against it continues,” the website reported.

“[T]his case presents complex, important questions of law that merit a full opportunity for the parties to present their positions to the Court,” Judge Pitman, an Obama appointee, wrote. “Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that the United States’ Opposed Motion for Expedited Briefing Schedule, (Dkt. 13), is DENIED.”

The Supreme Court in early September handed the organized left a stunning moral and legal defeat by essentially upholding Texas’ Heartbeat Law. A number of the state’s abortion providers had brought lawsuits over the legislation, which gives expectant mothers six weeks to decide whether or not to terminate the life of a developing child.

As National Review notes, the 5-4 decision “came down along ideological lines, with Chief Justice John Roberts and the Court’s three liberal justices dissenting.”

“The applicants now before us have raised serious questions regarding the constitutionality of the Texas law at issue,” the court’s majority wrote. “But their application also presents complex and novel antecedent procedural questions on which they have not carried their burden.”

“In reaching this conclusion, we stress that we do not purport to resolve definitively any jurisdictional or substantive claim in the applicants’ lawsuit,” the decision said. “In particular, this order is not based on any conclusion about the constitutionality of Texas’s law, and in no way limits other procedurally proper challenges to the Texas law, including in Texas state courts.”

The decision forestalls an October hearing of a Mississippi case that could determine the constitutionality of the issue, which was purportedly addressed by Roe v. Wade in what is considered by several legal scholars to be a flawed and questionable decision.

Thursday’s court ruling is yet another rebuke of a Biden administration that apparently does not grasp the concept of the rule of law.

Jake Sullivan, already in the hot seat as President Joe Biden’s national security adviser amid the Afghanistan fallout , could find himself under further scrutiny for his 2016 role in promoting a Trump-Russia collusion claim at the heart of a possible indictment by special counsel John Durham.

In the closing days of the 2016 race, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tweeted : “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank.”

She also shared a lengthy statement from Sullivan, one of her top advisers.

“This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow,” Sullivan claimed . “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank. He also said he met with Fusion GPS only one time, when he and Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta met with Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson in February 2017, at which point Sullivan said he and Podesta asked Simpson about the dossier.

Sullivan said Simpson called the British ex-spy “highly credible” and “really effective.”

World Bank probe finds now-IMF chief pushed staff to lift China ranking

World Bank leaders, including then-Chief Executive Kristalina Georgieva, applied "undue pressure" on staff to boost China's ranking in the bank's "Doing Business 2018" report, according to an independent investigation released Thursday.

The report, prepared by law firm WilmerHale at the request of the bank's ethics committee, raises concerns about China's influence at the World Bank, and the judgment of Georgieva - now managing director of the International Monetary Fund -- and then-World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. Georgieva said she disagreed "fundamentally with the findings and interpretations" of the report and had briefed the IMF's executive board. The World Bank Group on Thursday canceled the entire "Doing Business" report on business climates, saying internal audits and the WilmerHale investigation had raised "ethical matters, including the conduct of former Board officials, as well as current and/or former Bank staff."

The U.S. Treasury Department, which manages the dominant U.S. shareholdings in the IMF and the World Bank, said it was analyzing what it called the "serious findings." The WilmerHale report cited "direct and indirect pressure" from senior staff in Kim's office to change the report's methodology to boost China's score, and said it likely occurred at his direction. It said Georgieva, and a key adviser, Simeon Djankov, had pressured staff to "make specific changes to China's data points" and boost its ranking at a time when the bank was seeking China's support for a big capital increase. Kim did not respond to a request for comment. Djankov could not be immediately reached.

China's ranking in the "Doing Business 2018" report, published in October 2017, rose seven places to 78th after the data methodology changes were made, compared with the initial draft report. The "Doing Business" report ranks countries based on their regulatory and legal environments, ease of business startups, financing, infrastructure and other business climate measures. The report comes nearly two years after Georgieva took over as IMF chief, shortly before the biggest global economic crisis in the Fund's 76-year history, prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Treasury is analyzing "serious findings" in the WilmerHale report, Treasury spokeswoman Alexandra LaManna told Reuters. "Our primary responsibility is to uphold the integrity of international financial institutions." The WilmerHale report also cited pressures related to data used to determine rankings for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan in the "Doing Business 2020" report published in 2019, but found no evidence that any members of the World Bank's Office of the President or executive board were involved in these changes. Saudi Arabia climbed 30 places to 62nd in the "Doing Business 2020" report. "Going forward, we will be working on a new approach to assessing the business and investment climate," the World Bank said.

According to Son, their Vision Fund is collaborating with 18 companies in developing AI-enhanced machines that go far beyond Pepper's dancing and door-greeting capabilities.
