Scientists ‘confident’ that Saturn’s moon has the ingredients for alien life

The presence of phosphorus in a subsurface ocean could be home to extraterrestrials

Saturn’s moon, Enceladus, has oceans that are rich with the materials needed to generate life, a new study has suggested.

“Enceladus is one of the prime targets in humanity’s search for life in our solar system,” said Dr Christopher Glein from the Southwest Research Institute, who studies extraterrestrial oceanography.

“In the years since Nasa’s Cassini spacecraft visited the Saturn system, we have been repeatedly blown away by the discoveries made possible by the collected data.”

The spacecraft studied plumes of ice grains and water vapour bursting through the surface of the moon and found that there is likely to be huge quantities of dissolved phosphorus – although the element is yet to be identified directly – which is essential for the development of DNA and RNA.

Planets like Earth – with surface oceans – must exist a particular distance from their host star in order to avoid overheating or freezing, known as the ‘Goldilocks Zone’. However, planets with subsurface oceans can potentially produce life at greater extremes and thus expands the probability that we will discover life on other planets.

“The quest for extraterrestrial habitability in the solar system has shifted focus, as we now look for the building blocks for life, including organic molecules, ammonia, sulfur-bearing compounds as well as the chemical energy needed to support life,” Dr Glein said.

“Phosphorus presents an interesting case because previous work suggested that it might be scarce in the ocean of Enceladus, which would dim the prospects for life.”

The research suggest that a new probe be sent to Enceladus to investigate the habitable ocean. “The underlying geochemistry has an elegant simplicity that makes the presence of dissolved phosphorus inevitable, reaching levels close to or even higher than those in modern Earth seawater,” Dr Glein continued. “What this means for astrobiology is that we can be more confident than before that the ocean of Enceladus is habitable.”

Saturn is not the only planet that might have life in its vicinity; the presence of ammonia has also led some researchers to suggest that Venus could have alien life in its sulfuric atmosphere “very unlike anything we’ve seen”

While the planet itself is too hot to have life, there could be microscopic organisms in the clouds, producing ammonia to neutralise the acidity in the same way that animals on Earth do.

The research has been published in PNAS, a journal of the National Academy of Sciences.

Caroline Edmunds tweeted that she was on BA0624 from London to Rhodes, Greece, on Saturday afternoon when it was forced to land in Athens after the windscreen "broke".

Edmunds, who posted a picture of the Airbus's windshield after landing in Athens, said the experience was "terrifying" while thanking the pilots for diverting the plane safely.

"Now happily waiting for another not so dramatic flight to Rhodes!" she added.

Data from FlightRadar24 shows the flight was diverted to Athens on Saturday afternoon. It quickly descended from about 36,000 feet, suggesting the incident occurred at high altitude.

A BA spokesperson told Insider in an email: "Due to a technical issue, the flight diverted to Athens and landed safely. We apologised to the customers and a replacement aircraft was arranged to get them to their final destination."

Flight tracking data shows the flight eventually departed again from Athens to complete its trip to Rhodes early on Sunday morning. British Airways told Insider it was operated by a different aircraft.

Shattered windows might be more closely associated with a plane hitting a foreign object, such as a bird strike at a low altitude, but a faltering windshield at higher levels is not unheard of.

In April, a Delta flight from Salt Lake City to Washington, DC, was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver when the windshield cracked in mid-air.

A pair of MiG-29s was shot down in the southern part of the country, the Defense Ministry says

Russian fighter jets have shot down two Ukrainian MiG-29 warplanes modified to fire US-made anti-radar weapons, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

According to the ministry, the planes that were intercepted in Ukraine’s southern Nikolaev Region were capable of carrying AGM-88 High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARM) that are used to destroy radar stations on the ground.

The ministry reported that 12 Ukrainian drones were shot down, and 21 missiles, mostly from US-supplied HIMARS launchers, were intercepted mid-air.

The news comes as Ukraine’s Kherson Region and large parts of neighboring Zaporozhye Region, both controlled by Russian troops, are holding five-day referendums on joining Russia. The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), which broke away from Ukraine in the wake of the 2014 coup in Kiev, are also voting on becoming parts of Russia.

An RT news team came under fire in the city of Kherson on Sunday when a Ukrainian missile hit a hotel they were staying in. The journalists were unharmed, but two civilians were killed in the attack, including a former member of Ukraine’s parliament, local officials said.

COLOGNE, Germany (AP) — For 90 years, Engelbert Schlechtrimen’s family has been baking wheat rolls, rye bread and chocolate cakes in this western German city. Next month, they will turn off the ovens for good, because they can no longer afford rising energy prices resulting from Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Schlechtrimen’s grandparents founded the bakery in Cologne before World War II. The 58-year-old took over the business 28 years ago from his father and turned it into an organic store that uses traditional recipes and bans chemical additives in the bakehouse.

Still, even these innovations won’t save him from closing down the family business — consisting of a bakery and two stores that employ 35 people — after almost a century. It’s one victim of a European energy crisis driven by Russia’s cutbacks of natural gas, used to heat homes, generate electricity and power factories.

The resulting hikes in energy and power prices have squeezed businesses already struggling with a rise in other costs as inflation rises.

“For some time now, we have been juggling several crises at the same time: job vacancies, lack of personnel, closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, extreme increases in raw material costs, and now the explosion of energy costs and the further increase in personnel costs,” Schlechtrimen said this week.

He pointed to the costs of materials going up 50%. And “now, there is also the energy cost crisis. So far, we have only seen an increase of around 70%, because we heat the furnaces with diesel oil. A fourfold increase in price is to be feared.”

Schlechtrimen tried to save energy wherever possible — but that wasn’t enough to make up for growing expenses.

He also raised the prices of his products to cover his spiking costs, but customers, who also are tightening belts as inflation rises, stayed away and turned to discounters selling industrially manufactured baked goods for less money.

Eventually, the Cologne baker had to concede that he’s no longer making enough profit to sustain his business.

Schlechtrimen isn’t the only baker struggling to make a living in Germany these days. Small, family-owned bakeries across the country are having a hard time covering their costs.

“Many businesses in the bakery trade are worried about how they are going to get through the next few months. They are facing a cost tsunami,” said Friedemann Berg, managing director of the German Bakers’ Confederation.

“We would like to see a financial bailout for our bakeries, with the federal government providing aid to help our businesses effectively, quickly and unbureaucratically,” Berg said.

The German government this month announced an additional 65 billion-euro investment in a new round of measures aimed at easing the sting of inflation and high energy prices for consumers.

But for people like Schlechtrimen, the aid may be coming too late.

We knew this was coming. That is, if “we” have been paying attention or not in a state of denial.

Former President Donald Trump and presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis are widely seen within the Republican Party as potential rivals for the 2024 presidential nomination. Obvious public contrasts exist, yet both men have kept their powder dry, but behind-the-scenes tensions have reportedly already erupted.

Trump has all but announced his candidacy while DeSantis remains noncommittal — publicly, at least.

As I suggested in a June Article titled, Trump Plays Nice About Potential 2024 Showdown With DeSantis, but How Long Will the Geniality Last?, “Let’s just hope those wheels don’t fall off before it’s over.” While we’re far from the race officially beginning, no wheels have fallen off, yet, but they’re already wobbling.

While there have been hints along the way, according to sources familiar with both camps, “stuff” just got real. And by “real,” I mean in Trump’s mind, his former “great friend” and “tough, brilliant cookie” is now an unappreciative, “ungrateful” self-serving politician, about whom Trump reportedly grouses: “I made him.”

As reported by The Washington Post, Trump has yet to endorse DeSantis as he seeks a second term and is unlikely to campaign for him, according to Trump advisors with knowledge of the former president’s intentions. The two men once spoke regularly, a close Trump adviser said, but, “those days are gone.” The two haven’t talked since early in the summer, said people familiar with the situation, and DeSantis has not asked Trump to campaign for him, undoubtedly taken as a slight by Trump.

DeSantis, who’s favored to win re-election over Republican-turned-Democrat challenger Charlie Christ, is also trying to build support on the national stage, appealing to Trump supporters and headlining rallies in swing states for other Republicans on the ballot this fall, as he subtly distances himself from Trump, while not explicitly criticizing the former president — currently a bad political move for a Republican politician.

Don Tapia, the U.S. ambassador to Jamaica during the Trump administration and now a DeSantis donor, told WaPo that during a recent gathering with “a few dozen donors,” “everyone asked him about 2024.” But “right now, the Republican base is Donald’s base,” he added.

In recently flying migrants from Texas to a liberal enclave, Martha’s Vineyard, DeSantis took a polarizing step that Trump considered as president but eventually scuttled. It drew attention and outrage from Democrats and human rights advocates and delighted the conservative base on an issue core to Trump’s political identity: immigration.

The former president tracks DeSantis’s public appearances and polling numbers, according to his advisers who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity to share private conversations. He has also soured on DeSantis, repeatedly criticizing him and telling advisers: “I made him.”

“He’s ungrateful,” Trump has said, according to two people close to him. “I knew him from watching Fox, and he’d done a good job about me and other things. He’s an Ivy League baseball player,” Trump has said, explaining his 2018 endorsement according to a person who has visited his Mar-a-Lago Club and heard him talk about DeSantis. “I don’t understand what happened here. I don’t understand why he doesn’t appreciate me more.”

Top Vaccine Expert and FDA Adviser Says Young Healthy People Should NOT Get the New Booster Shot – No Clear Evidence of Benefit

A top vaccine expert and FDA adviser has warned that there is insufficient evidence to recommend the new booster shot for healthy young adults and said it could carry risks.

Dr. Paul Offit, MD is an American pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases, vaccines, immunology, and virology. He is also the co-inventor of a rotavirus vaccine.

Dr. Offit is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of virology and immunology, and was a member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is a member of the Food and Drug Administration Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, and a founding advisory board member of the Autism Science Foundation and the Foundation for Vaccine Research, a member of the Institute of Medicine and co-editor of the foremost vaccine text, Vaccines.

During an interview with CNN earlier this month, Dr. Offit said this new Covid booster shot is unlikely to benefit healthy young people and said it’s ‘unfair to make them take a risk.’

Dr. Offit: “When you’re asking people to get a vaccine, I think there has to be clear evidence of benefit. And we’re not going to have clinical studies, obviously, before this launches, but you’d like to have at least human data on people getting this vaccine. You see a clear and dramatic increase in neutralizing antibiotics, and then at least you have a correlate of protection against BA4, BA5. Because if you don’t have that, if there’s not clear evidence of benefit, then it’s not fair [to ask people to take a risk]. The benefits should be clear.”

Earlier this month, a CDC panel voted in favor of approving the latest Covid booster shot that hasn’t even been tested on humans.

The latest Covid booster, bivalent, was supposedly reformulated to ‘protect’ against Omicron subvariants.

Bivalent boosters contain the original Covid-19 strain and the genetic code of the Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5.

The new COVID boosters were not tested on humans – only on mice.

The updated booster has only been tested on animals, not people. “There’s no clinical trial data specifically for bivalent BA.4, BA.5 boosters in humans yet, but there will be,” said Dr. Fryhofer.

Dr. Offit wrote an OpEd in Wall Street Journal on September 21.

He said preliminary data suggested the new bivalent vaccines were actually worse at warding off COVID infections than the first generation of shots, Daily Mail reported.

The data suggested shot was not as effective as the first batch.

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone over 12 receive a “bivalent” Covid-19 vaccine as a booster dose. But only a select group are likely to benefit, and the evidence to date doesn’t support the view that a bivalent vaccine containing omicron or its subvariants is better than the monovalent vaccine. The CDC risks eroding the public’s trust by overselling the new shot,” he wrote.

That is how Democrats are on almost every issue, but there’s one in particular they desperately need to fool people on not only so they can use it as a weapon, but also so they can hide the horrors their political philosophy have committed against the people unfortunate enough to live under their absolute reign.

The real “big lie” is the creator of the concept of a big lie was somehow “right-wing.” The simple truth is every single despotic totalitarian is a left-winger. Under the umbrella of “progressive” lives socialism, communism and fascism. But to hide the reality of what their ideological brethren have committed, Democrats lie and say monsters like Mao, Stalin and Hitler were of the right. This is impossible.

There’s a very simple way to think about this: think of political philosophy as a line with a right and left direction. One side wants a government that does more, that grows in size and scope, and the other wants one with a shrinking, smaller government doing less. Where do all of those “isms” fall on that spectrum? They all feature massive government taxing the hell out of everyone, mandating behavior and regulating lives.

FBI Whistleblower Comes Forward, Alleges Many Agents ‘Don’t Agree’ With Bureau’s Direction

An FBI whistleblower recently came forward and issued warnings about alleged politicization at the FBI, saying that the bureau is spying on law-abiding Americans and that many of its domestic counterterrorism cases are tantamount to “entrapment.”

Kyle Seraphin, who has spent six years in the FBI, was suspended without pay and cannot seek another job without quitting or asking for permission. It’s not clear when he was suspended, but he said that he had run-ins with his managers about his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine although he was granted a religious exemption.

“The number of guys who say, ‘I don’t agree with what’s going on here, but I’ve got three years to retire,’ it’s heartbreaking,” he told podcast host Dan Bongino.

In one instance, Seraphin said he was forced to blow the whistle last year when Attorney General Merrick Garland told lawmakers that the Department of Justice was not targeting parents. He gave to a member of Congress an email that was circulated in the FBI, which said that Garland ordered the usage of the controversial PATRIOT Act to target parents with a tag, “EDUOFFICIALS.”

At the time, in May 2022, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Mike Johnson (R-Ind.) alleged that the investigations involved parents who were “upset about mask mandates and state elected officials who publicly voiced opposition to vaccine mandates,” accusing Garland of making false statements to Congress.

“That’s when you become part of political hatchet jobs, and I didn’t sign up for that, and nobody I know signed up for that either,” Seraphin told Bongino. “That’s not what people want to get involved in.”

In an interview with the Washington Times last week, he said the bureau’s investigations into domestic violent extremism, white nationalists, and right-wing extremists are mostly entrapment operations with questionable moral and ethical underpinnings.

“My team was deployed to 20 or 25 different high profile, national terrorism organization or terrorism investigations between 2018 and 2021. And what I saw, as the most obvious statement, is that there are three things about counterterrorism investigations,” he said.

Seraphin stated: “Number one, the demand for white supremacy vastly outstrips the supply of white supremacy.”

“Number two,” he added, “the FBI‘s playbook when it comes to counterterrorism investigations is always and unequivocally morally equivalent to entrapment, even if there’s a legal definition that allows them to skirt that.”

‘Inaccurate’

As for No. 3, Seraphin added to the Washington Times that the FBI doesn’t have an objective metric on how they prioritize cases.

“There’s an entirely ridiculous internal process for determining every single national priority,” the whistleblower said.

The Epoch Times has contacted the FBI for comment. A bureau spokesperson told the paper that his claims about entrapment lacked merit.

“This comment is inaccurate and represents a clear misunderstanding of the policy and practice in FBI investigations,” the FBI said in a statement to the outlet.

George Soros’s Open Society Foundation Funded Pro-Prostitution Organizations

George Soros’s Open Society Foundation (OSF) has donated over $1 million to organizations that work to normalize and legalize prostitution.

George Soros’s OSF donated a total of $185,000 to an organization called the Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) in 2019 and 2020. The organization is just one of several groups that has received funding from OSF and advocates for the normalization of prostitution.

According to their mission statement, the organization calls itself “a national grassroots social justice network dedicated to the fundamental human rights of sex workers and their communities,” with a focus on “ending violence and stigma through education, community building, and advocacy.”

Their website also explains that the organization was founded when prostitutes in California’s Bay Area protested the arrest of a prostitute named Shannon Williams, who was also an employee at Berkeley High School.

The website also notes, “SWOP has grown into a national network of regional chapters and local activists. This network works together to address stigma and criminalization.”

Founded in 2003, the organization received five grants from George Soros’s Open Society Foundation in 2019 and 2020. The largest grant supplied $60,000 “to support policy advocacy on sex work reform.”

The organization’s “values” page indicates that they support the decriminalization of prostitution.

While one grant was intended “to provide general support,” another went to support SWOP’s attempt “to reduce the stigma and dehumanization associated with sex work and to increase power and collaboration among sex workers.”

The organization published a guide on “How to Be an Ally to Sex Workers.” The guide includes a number of suggestions, all of which are intended to normalize prostitution.

Business owners were told to “Put up sex-work-positive signs in your window,” while those in hiring or admission roles were instructed to “Ignore prostitution, drug, and non-violent convictions or arrests when they appear on applicant background checks.”

Meanwhile, the guide told policymakers to “Work to eliminate policies/laws that discriminate against individuals currently or previously involved in the sex trade.”

SWOP, which has also received monetary support from Neo Philanthropy and the Comer Family Foundation, is just one organization that works to normalize prostitution and has received support from OSF.

OSF has also poured about $700,000 into a group called “Mama Cash” from 2016 to 2020. The four grants all go to support a project of Mama Cash called the “Red Umbrella Fund” (RUF).

The fund calls itself “the first global fund guided by and for sex workers. Launched in 2012, Red Umbrella Fund joins together funders and sex workers in support of the human rights of sex workers.”

The organization articulates its agenda by saying, “We oppose criminalization and all forms of stigma and discrimination against sex workers. We recognize that sex work is work, RUF’s website reads.”

Pope joins population control activist Jeffrey Sachs to push ‘climate change’ agenda at conference

Jeffrey Sachs has been a supporter of the initiative since its inception a few years ago.

Pope Francis has joined forces with population control activist Jeffrey Sachs in the Pope’s youth initiative the “Economy of Francesco,” promoting “a process of inclusive dialogue and young, vibrant, global change, moving towards a new economy,” and addressing “climate change.”

Taking place September 22 through 24 in Assisi, “The Economy of Francesco” (EoF) conference is now in its third year, with this event being the first to be held in-person.

Vatican News reports that over 1,000 “young economists and entrepreneurs” from over 120 countries have gathered in Assisi where they have been examining how to give “a new soul to the economy.” They also looked at issues such “as climate change, the energy emergency.”

Though held in Assisi, the home of St. Francis, the conference fails to mention religion in its promotional materials, and instead focuses on an irreligious style of economical and global assessment.

The climax of the event was Pope Francis’ visit and address to the participants on September 24, along with the signing of the EoF “pact.” That document, which Francis joined in signing, made no mention of Christianity apart from referring to “an economy of the Gospel.”

Outlining their shared dreams for this new economical goal, the signatories appeared to suggest that it could create a perfect world. They wrote that their goal “is not a utopia,” precisely “because we are already building it.”

“And some of us, on particularly bright mornings, have already glimpsed the beginning of the promised land,” the document concluded.

The key theme underpinning the entire event was not religion, but attention to the climate, as repeatedly promoted by Francis. Calling them to build a new economy, Francis said it “must be an earth-friendly economy, and an economy of peace,” one centered upon “an ecological conversion.”

Earlier this month, activists and comic book fans alike were in uproar over Marvel Studios’ announcement that Israeli actress Shira Haas will play Zionist superhero Sabra in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Captain America: New World Order. Many Palestine advocates accused Marvel’s decision to add Sabra to the MCU as exalting Israeli abuse and war crimes.

“By glorifying the Israeli army & police, Marvel is promoting Israel’s violence against Palestinians & enabling the continued oppression of millions of Palestinians living under Israel’s authoritarian military rule,” the Institute for Middle East Understanding wrote in a tweet.

Following the backlash, Marvel said in a statement to Variety that it will take a “new approach” to the character, in a perceived attempt to placate criticisms.

Yet vows to reimagine the Sabra character, a former spy for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, may come across as disingenuous, especially when, upon closer examination, Marvel appears closely connected to the Israeli government and its main intelligence agency Mossad.

Marvel and Israel’s deepening relationship

Many individuals who have held or still maintain roles at Marvel are associated with the Israeli military, Israeli intelligence and Zionist institutions that uphold apartheid. For instance, Isaac Perlmutter, the current chairman of Marvel Entertainment who served on Marvel Comics’ board of directors until 1995, grew up in 1948-occupied Palestine (or modern-day Israel) and served in the Israeli military during the 1967 Six-Day War. Avi Arad, the CEO of Marvel Entertainment, also grew up in modern-day Israel and served in the Israeli army during the Six-Day War.

Along with his wife, Laura, Perlmutter oversees a foundation that contributes to several pro-Israel causes such as the Anti-Defamation League, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, the America-Israel Friendship League, the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County in Florida, and the Jewish Agency for Israel. The Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Foundation has also supported the Hebrew University and Israel’s Technion Institute of Technology.

The Perlmutters are also heavily linked to the Trump family. In 2016, their organization donated $25,000 to the Eric Trump Foundation. According to Open Secrets, a campaign finance tracker, in 2016, Laura Perlmutter donated $5,400 to former President Donald Trump’s campaign and nearly $450,000 to the Trump Victory Committee, a joint fundraising initiative by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee. The couple then gave more than $1 million to the Trump Victory Committee in 2019 and 2020 and contributed another $11,200 to Trump’s reelection campaign in 2019.

A study by a risk consultancy firm ranks Mexico near the top of the list of the world’s most dangerous countries.

The Criminality Index created by Verisk Maplecroft evaluates the risk to people, businesses and economies caused by violent crime in 198 countries.

Mexico ranked behind only Afghanistan and Guatemala.

Ukrainian Army War Crimes Include Shelling of Ambulences, Firetrucks, and Rescue Workers in the Donbass Republics—Similar to Israelis and U.S. Backed Terrorists in Syria

In the more than eight years of bombing the civilians of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Ukraine has committed untold numbers of war crimes. These include bombing residential areas, markets, hospitals, schools, parks—including with prohibited heavy weapons and banned cluster munitions—and, since late July, raining banned “Petal” mines down on populated civilian areas, including the very center of Donetsk, including as recently as September 7.

A lesser-known war crime is Ukraine’s routine targeting of ambulances, fire trucks, medics and rescuers, and their headquarters and stations. Many of the times Ukraine bombs such heroic rescuers, it is when they are on the way, or already on site, to help civilians often themselves just bombed by Ukraine.

On August 21, Ukrainian shelling of the DPR’s Gorlovka wounded twelve, including five firefighters.

The day prior, Ukrainian shelling targeted an ambulance station in the LPR’s Lysychansk, wounding several and damaging some of the ambulances.

On June 23, the Kievskiy District of Donetsk came under repeated shelling over the course of the two hours I was visiting the Emergency Services headquarters there. On the grounds, I saw the remnants of a “Hurricane” missile from a previous Ukrainian attack.

The previous day, Ukrainian forces targeted an Emergency Services fire truck on call, leaving the driver hospitalized in critical condition. According to his colleagues, they saw a drone above them just prior to Ukraine’s strike. The targeting was unquestionably deliberate.

On June 18, Ukraine targeted a central Donetsk district after Emergency Services had arrived, killing a firefighter and the driver, and injuring three more rescuers.

In early June, heavy Ukrainian shelling of Kuibyshevsky District, Donetsk, destroyed an ambulance and seriously injured the driver.

Ukraine’s attacks on emergency workers is not new; Ukraine has been doing so for years.

In June 2021, during a humanitarian cease-fire, Ukrainian forces targeted an ambulance which had arrived to evacuate three injured DPR soldiers.

In October 2019, Ukrainian forces fired an anti-tank guided missile at a DPR military ambulance en route to help a child, wounding the driver and a paramedic.

In August 2018, Ukrainian forces fired a missile at a DPR ambulance, killing the driver and two female paramedics.

When I first visited the DPR in September 2019, going to hard-hit areas around Gorlovka, I was told by Zaitsevo administration that ambulances could not reach the villagers.

“The paramedics don’t go farther than this building; it’s too dangerous. If somebody needs medical care near the front lines, someone has to go in their own car and take them to a point where medics can then take them to Gorlovka. The soldiers also help civilians who are injured.”

This is something I was very familiar with in Gaza, occupied Palestine, where Israeli soldiers routinely fire at Palestinian farmers and other laborers on agricultural land, a policy of harassment to drive Palestinians off their land. In most cases, ambulances likewise could not reach the injured due to Israel’s policy of targeting ambulances. Consequently, seriously injured Palestinians bleed to death.

In Zaitsevo, I was told this had happened there, too. “A woman died due to huge blood loss because no one could reach her house to take her away in time. She was injured in the shelling and bled to death.”

A Chief Behaviour Advisor tasked with improving behaviour in NSW's public and private schools will be appointed by the state government after an "inappropriate" group chat run by students at one of Sydney's most exclusive schools was uncovered.

Earlier this month, material from a group chat run by students of Knox Grammar School, on the north shore, was referred to police due to the "unacceptable" nature of the messages, according to the school's headmaster.

Several students from the elite school were suspended or expelled over the messages, some of which were racist, misogynistic or anti-Semitic.

It was later revealed that students from other schools were in the closed chat, with email addresses linked to James Ruse Agricultural High and North Sydney Boys High also used to access the group.

The NSW Police child abuse and sex crimes squad reviewed the material and found no child abuse material in the message stream.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said the actions of the students were appalling and needed to be tackled head on.

"We've got to look at the root cause of some of these behaviours and why kids are acting out this way," she said.

"It is never OK for young people to behave like that, whether it is in social media or in person."

Premier Dominic Perrottet said a "radical move" was needed, and on Monday announced the government would create the role of Chief Behaviour Advisor.

The adviser will assist teachers across government, independent and Catholic schools in dealing with disruptive students and advise parents and carers on what they can do to stamp out unacceptable behaviour.

"Teachers across school sectors have told us they want greater support for dealing with disruptive students," Mr Perrottet said

"And that's why we're introducing the role of NSW Chief Behaviour Advisor, to lead on best practice for improving and maintaining respectful student behaviour."

We know on social media one must be careful about talking about Covid. “Wrong think” can lead to getting banned or deleted from sites such as YouTube, Facebook, and of course, Twitter. I spoke out against the Covid vaccines on Facebook and I kept getting banned, so I finally deleted my account. Due to my anti-medical tyranny cartoons and anti-vaccine cartoons in particular, Facebook pulled the plug on our main 60k followers cartoon page. We had a backup page with far less followers, but our interest in actively participating on Facebook waned greatly.

I have been drawing editorial cartoons to warn people against vaccine abuse long before Covid arrived and shortly after the manufactured bioweapon was unleashed, I found I had enough cartoons to put together a book. “Make America Well Again” was published in 2021. Kent Heckenlively was kind enough to write a forward for it. Fortunately it was not banned on Amazon—perhaps because I chose a positive title and cartoon of President Trump as a doctor diagnosing America. Trump must renounce the vaccines that he helped rush out. He wanted to be a hero—I get that. Still, the billions of taxpayer Covid money sent to Big Pharma should be clawed back due to their flawed trials and inadequate research.

Many respected scientists and doctors vociferously warned about the dangers of the rushed-out mRNA vaccines. They were silenced by social media. The mainstream media depends on Big Pharma advertising so naturally they pushed the deadly Covid injections instead of doing real investigative journalism. The general public got brainwashed and bullied into taking the jabs and wearing the masks—both dangerous to health. Even some corporations that should have known better such as Fox News made vaccination mandatory for their employees. Too many people had to get the poison pokes in order to keep their jobs.

Now many among the vaccinated are suddenly dropping dead.

Way too many children and teenagers are getting myocarditis. We keep reading stories about young, physically fit doctors and athletes who suddenly die of heart attacks. Morticians say they are finding long clot material inside the veins of the dead. The side effect list is long and disturbing, but what’s more disturbing is Big Pharma is permitted to push boosters based on testing a half dozen mice.

It’s about money and control, and I believe the so-called ‘elite’ globalists running the show had long planned a deadly virus.

Their point man, Fauci, saw to it that gain of function occurred at a communist Chinese military bioweapons lab in Wuhan. It may have been released prematurely. After all, the safety standards were proved to be sloppy at the lab. To be sure, they were working on a contagious respiratory virus, but it wasn’t yet deadly enough. So when it was accidentally released Fauci, the World Health Organization, and others controlling the ‘science’ used the mainstream media to magnify the danger. Meanwhile, Fauci and his operatives tried to cover up their complicity.

Thanks to dictatorial government agencies who insisted they alone had the final word on the ‘science,’ and a puppet corporate media that fanned the flames of fear, people were wearing masks, agreeing to lockdowns, and accepting mandatory jabs. We all got a good glimpse into the globalists’ plan.

They wanted vaccine passports to track and control us. They also wanted to determine what would go into our bodies. Those that resisted were smeared and dehumanized.

Biden told us that if we got the mRNA ‘vaccine,’ we wouldn’t get Covid. That was a lie. Not only did the fully vaccinated get Covid, they could also spread it and many died of it. Even more died from the vaccine itself. It was neither safe nor effective! During the blitz of bullshit delivered by so-called leaders, there were many courageous, expert voices warning us about the so-called vaccines.

Too many didn’t listen. Too many remain brainwashed today. I still see people wearing masks alone on a sunny day. Some like to brag about getting the latest ‘booster’ despite a rising tide of evidence of how dangerous those boosters are. Too many are not paying attention even now!

What’s next? Probably mandatory flu vaccines. See how that works? They accustom us to obeying and then the medical tyranny never goes away. Resist!

We need investigate the Covid scandal. Fauci lied to Congress. Bill Gates and Fauci belong in prison along with Big Pharma executives.

Pope Francis has ordered that the Holy See and connected entities move all financial assets to the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR), commonly known as the Vatican bank.The pope’s rescript, issued Aug. 23, clarifies the interpretation of a paragraph in the new constitution of the Roman Curia, Praedicate Evangelium, promulgated in March. According to Francis’ rescript, financial and liquid assets held in banks other than the IOR must be moved to the Vatican bank within 30 days of Sept. 1, 2022. The IOR, based in Vatican City State, has 110 employees and 14,519 clients. As of 2021, it looked after 5.2 billion euros ($5.6 billion) of client assets.

Though commonly called a “bank,” the IOR (Institute for Works of Religion) is technically a financial institute, with no branches, working within Vatican City State to provide services to clients, which include the Holy See and connected entities, religious orders, clergy, Catholic institutions, and Holy See employees.

The IOR saw its number of clients decline by 472, from 14,991 clients at the end of 2020 to 14,519 in 2021. Nearly half of its clients in 2019 were religious orders. According to its annual report, the financial institution’s $19 million net profit in 2021 was also down from $44 million in 2020 and $46 million in 2019. In his Aug. 23 rescript, Pope Francis said article 219, paragraph 3 of Praedicate Evangelium “must be interpreted to mean that the activity of asset manager and custodian of the movable patrimony of the Holy See and of the Institutions connected with the Holy See is the exclusive responsibility of the Institute for Works of Religion.” The decree will force Holy See institutions, including the Secretariat of State, to move their financial assets to the IOR by the end of September. The Secretariat of State is known to have had accounts in Swiss financial institutions, including Credit Suisse, through which the controversial London building investment was initially carried out. Article 219, paragraph 3 of the new curial constitution says: “The execution of the financial transactions referred to in §§ 1 and 2 is carried out through the Institute for the Works of Religion,” the IOR. The financial transactions described in paragraphs 1 and 2 of article 219 are the administration and management of the Holy See’s real estate and movable assets and entities entrusting their assets to the Holy See.

Eventually the CIA was able to shut down virtually every intelligence relationship I had built over the course of seven years of liaison work.

But that was not enough. Using the U-2 imagery sharing program with Israel as an excuse, the CIA’s Directorate for Operations notified the FBI that I was committing espionage by taking classified U-2 imagery to Israel.

This ignored the reality that the U-2 imagery sharing program had been approved by the CIA in July 1995, at the Princeton Club meeting, and that the CIA had turned over every roll of film involved to UNSCOM for the purpose of joint exploration.

I resigned from my position as an UNSCOM inspector in August 1998. Before I departed, I was called into the CIA offices at the US Mission to the United Nations, in New York City. Larry Sanchez, the CIA official responsible for the UNSCOM account, met me.

“If you resign,” Sanchez warned me, “the FBI is going to be unleashed. They will charge you with espionage, and you’ll probably be arrested.”

My only alternative would be to remain at UNSCOM, and become a compliant tool of the CIA.

I opted to resign. The rest is history.

The pettiness and total lack of integrity that underscored the nature of my relationship with the CIA is not an isolated event. The CIA may be staffed with some good people, but as an institution, it is rotten to the core.

Not only did the CIA do its level best to destroy me as an individual, but it also conspired to destroy UNSCOM as an institution. The result was one of the greatest intelligence failures of any intelligence service in modern history – the fundamentally flawed CIA case that Iraq possessed WMDs, which was used to justify the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.

The CIA refused to take responsibility for its failure. Stu Cohen, who I worked with from 1992-1994, was brought in to attempt a whitewash, but history has shown how intellectually dishonest his effort was.

Just like the agency he worked for.

My personal interaction with the Central Intelligence Agency helped me to see through its legend-infused mystique and realize it did little more than serve as a bodyguard of lies. Which is why my only wish for its 75th birthday is that there isn’t a 76th.

London Banks Prepare For Possible Blackouts

Banking and financial firms in London are closely studying and updating contingency electricity supply plans to protect themselves and their customers in case power outages hit the UK this winter.

Some banks are discussing the idea of again encouraging the work-from-home policies from previous Covid lockdowns or using offsite locations, representatives of the trade association UK Finance, coordinating the talks, told Bloomberg.

The UK and the rest of Europe are preparing for potential blackouts this winter, especially if the weather is colder than usual and gas and power shortages strain the grids. Governments in Europe are asking people to conserve energy to avoid rolling outages.

In the City of London, banks are paying closer attention to plans for backup power supply in case of blackouts.

“There is no sense of panic, just everyone is making sure that their ducks are in a row,” Andrew Rogan, director of operational resilience at UK Finance, told Bloomberg in an interview.

This summer, London narrowly avoided a blackout in the eastern part of the city at the end of July. While London and much of the UK were reeling from the hottest day on record in Britain, high power demand and a bottleneck on the grid left parts of East London close to blackout. The UK, however, managed to avoid a blackout in London by buying more electricity from Belgium at a mind-blowing price of $11,812 (£9,724) per megawatt-hour (MWh), which was more than 5,000% higher than the typical price.

Outside the UK, banks across Europe are bracing for energy rationing and possible power outages this winter by getting backup generators ready so that they won’t leave bank transactions and ATMs in the dark if the energy crisis worsens, sources familiar with plans told Reuters earlier this month. As governments in Europe appeal for voluntary gas and electricity conservation and even consider rationing, banks are also bracing for a difficult winter. The banking system is too important for Europe and its economy to be left affected by power outages.

Our so-called “health experts” have clearly lost the faith of the American people because, despite their endless pushing of COVID-19 vaccines and regular boosters, few Americans who are eligible to receive the updated COVID booster shot have actually gotten it.

Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized the distribution of updated Moderna and Pfizer boosters.

“The updated COVID-19 boosters are formulated to better protect against the most recently circulating COVID-19 variant,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at the time. “They can help restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination and were designed to provide broader protection against newer variants. This recommendation followed a comprehensive scientific evaluation and robust scientific discussion. If you are eligible, there is no bad time to get your COVID-19 booster and I strongly encourage you to receive it.”

However, the pandemic shed light on some unsightly facts about the government officials in charge of our response to health crises. They are not only inept but also susceptible to political pressure in the same way that politicians are. As such, Americans are neither concerned about the latest variant nor convinced the booster would do anything about it, as evidenced by the fact that only 1.5% of eligible U.S. citizens have gotten the new and improved COVID booster, according to the CDC’s own data.

In addition to the credibility problems of our health experts, the lack of enthusiasm for booster shots may also be due to Joe Biden recently declaring in an interview on 60 Minutes that the pandemic is over.

“The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lotta work on it,” Biden insisted. “But the pandemic is over.”

He added, “If you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so, I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it.”

The White House was forced to walk back Biden’s remarks, but the damage was done.

An 84-year-old woman canvassing in Lake Odessa, Mich., for a pro-life group was shot in the shoulder after a heated argument, according to a press release by Michigan Right to Life

The woman was passing out pamphlets and speaking out against Prop. 3, which is an attempt to enshrine abortion rights into the state’s Constitution. She claims an unidentified man degenerate, who was not part of the dust-up, shot her as she was walking away from the raucous squabble.

The injured woman drove herself to the Lake Odessa Police Dept. They whisked her to the hospital, where she was treated and released. Her injuries are not life-threatening. She is recovering at home and wishes to remain anonymous.

GEOGRAPHY-O-RAMA! Lake Odessa is 42 miles from Bath Township, where the worst school massacre in U.S. history took place. Andrew Kehoe blew up an elementary school, killing 44 people, 38 of whom were kids, and injuring 58. Almost 500 more pounds of dynamite miraculously did not explode. The tragedy was forgotten when, days later, Michigan native Charles Lindbergh flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Michigan State Police are investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made yet.

Early turnout numbers for referendums on joining Russia revealed

Preliminary results on the third of five voting days shows the threshold having been reached in Donbass and Zaporozhye and almost met in Kherson

The referendums on joining Russia are continuing in the Donbass republics and Russian-controlled regions of southern Ukraine. On Sunday, the turnout already reached the required 50% threshold in the Donetsk and Lugansk republics and Zaporozhye Region, with only Kherson lagging behind.

In the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), more than 76% of eligible voters have already cast their votes, according to official figures. The referendum in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) is proceeding at a similar pace, with some 77% of voters having shown up at the polling stations.

Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, which were largely seized by Russian forces amid the ongoing conflict, have demonstrated a lower turnout. Still, the latter region has already met the required legal threshold, with some 51.55% of registered voters already casting their ballots, according to the head of the Zaporozhye electoral committee, Galina Katyshenko. Kherson has so far demonstrated lower turnout, with nearly 49% of voters showing up for the referendum. Polls across the two regions and in the Donbass republics are set to stay open for the next two days.

Ukraine and its Western backers have rejected the referendums on joining Russia as illegal and have vowed to not recognize them regardless of their outcome. Speaking to US broadcaster CBS on Sunday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky warned that should Russia complete the referendums, it would “make it impossible, in any case, to continue any diplomatic negotiations” with Moscow.

Zelensky admits he doesn’t think Putin is bluffing

The Ukrainian president, like the leaders of the EU, believes that the Russian leader’s nuclear warning should be taken seriously

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told CBS News on Sunday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin could use nuclear weapons. Putin earlier said that Russia would use “all the means available to us” to defend Russian territory.

“Look, maybe yesterday it was a bluff,”Zelensky told CBS host Margaret Brennan. “Now, it could be a reality.”

Putin himself said on Wednesday that he was “not bluffing” when he warned that Russia would consider defending its land with “various weapons of destruction.” That land could soon include the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the regions of Zaporozhye and Kherson, where referendums are currently being held on joining the Russian Federation.

Western leaders are taking Putin at his word. "When people say it is not a bluff, you have to take them seriously," the EU’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, said on Saturday. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told CBS earlier on Sunday that Washington has told Moscow that “any use of nuclear weapons will be met with catastrophic consequences for Russia.”'

Zelensky also told Brennan that Ukraine considers the Russian occupation of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant “nuclear blackmail,” despite Ukrainian forces repeatedly shelling the facility in recent months. Ukrainian forces bombed the plant again last week in an attempt to “create the threat of a man-made disaster,” Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

Despite Russia’s recent mobilization of 300,000 more troops and the likelihood of four new territories falling under Russia’s nuclear protection in the near future, Zelensky insisted that Putin “knows that he’s losing the war.”Nevertheless, the Ukrainian president told CBS that his government needs billions more dollars, more weapons, and more sanctions on Russia to continue the fight.

“We need to keep putting pressure on him and not allow him to continue,” he said, referring to Putin.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has called for a bolder strategy, saying Dems are ‘getting crushed’ by ‘ruthless’ Republicans

Observers of America’s vitriolic political discourse might suppose that the last thing the major parties need right now is to employ even more aggressive tactics, but that’s just what a leading Democrat, California Governor Gavin Newsom, has recommended.

“These guys are ruthless on the other side,”Newsom said on Saturday at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, Texas. “Where are we? Where are we organizing, bottom up, a compelling alternative narrative? Where are we going on the offense every single day? They’re winning right now.”

Newsom, who’s considered a top contender for the Democratic party’s presidential nomination in 2024, argued that Republicans have seized the initiative and forced members of his party to respond to their stunts. “They dominate the most important thing in American politics today, and that’s the narrative.”

Facts become secondary to narrative, and we are getting crushed. We are on the defense over and over again.

The governor insisted that he wasn’t directing his criticism at Joe Biden, saying the president has been busy performing “a master class on substance and policy” during his first two years in the Oval Office. However, good governance isn’t enough to win elections, he added, “otherwise Biden would be at 75% approval.”The latest ABC News/Washington Post polling pegs the president’s approval rating at 39%.

Strategies that were effective in the past, such as Michelle Obama’s mantra of “when they go low, we go high,” are no longer politically viable because “that’s not the moment we’re living in right now,” Newsom said.

Newsom’s suggestion that Democrats aren’t being ruthless enough is ironic, given that the party has used its control of Congress to twice impeach Donald Trump and push for the former president to be criminally indicted. Party leaders, including Biden, have suggested that Republicans are a “clear and present danger” to American democracy. Speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, the party’s 2016 presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, likened Trump supporters to Nazis.

Apart from Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Newsom is considered the No. 2 contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2024, according to an analysis published by CNN on Saturday. Only Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg ranks higher. Although Newsom has taken steps to raise his national profile, such as posting billboard ads in seven Republican-controlled states encouraging women to get their abortions in California, he told the Texas audience that he definitely won’t enter the race.

While Newsom stopped short of criticizing Biden, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke blamed the president for the fact that Hispanics are increasingly voting for Republicans. “Candidate Biden didn't spend a dime or day in the Rio Grande Valley or really anywhere in Texas, for that matter, once we got down in the homestretch of the general election,” O’Rourke said on Saturday at the Texas Tribune Festival.

Newly Unsealed Court Documents Reveal FBI Got Warrant For Beverly Hills Raid of 1,400 Safe-Deposit Boxes, Seizure of $86 Million in Cash by Misleading Judge

As previously reported, the feds seized $86 million in cash, precious metals and family heirlooms stored in about 800 safe deposit boxes in Los Angeles in spring 2021.

A class-action lawsuit claimed the FBI “exceeded the search warrant approved by the court” when it raided storage provider, US Private Vaults (USPV) and snooped through the contents of the safe deposit boxes.

USPV was indicted by the feds for conspiracy to sell drugs and launder money, however the owners of the boxes are not accused of committing any crimes.

The search warrant only authorized the FBI to inspect the safe deposit boxes to “identify their owners in order to notify them” about claiming their property.

The FBI agents were caught on video going through the boxes, tearing open packages with coins after already identifying the owner’s name.

“Items appear to be missing” – The owner’s lawyer told the Los Angeles Times the FBI’s list of inventory left out $75,000 in gold coins.

The Institute for Justice, a watchdog accountability group is spearheading the fight and filed a temporary restraining order last year on behalf of several owners who stand to lose the contents of their safe deposit boxes if a federal judge doesn’t intervene.

This is the “most outrageous Fourth Amendment abuse that the Institute for Justice has ever seen,” Frommer, the IJ attorney, said when it announced the case. “It is like the government breaking into every apartment in a building because the landlord was dealing drugs in the lobby.”

In June 2021, US District Judge R. Gary Klausner, a George W. Bush appointee issued a temporary retraining order preventing the federal government from seizing safe deposit boxes from four individuals who are seeking the return of their assets until the feds can provide the “specific factual and legal basis” for trying to initiate civil forfeiture.

The judge scolded the feds and said the planned forfeiture likely violates the individuals constitutional due process rights.

According to newly unsealed court documents, the FBI and US Attorney’s office in Los Angeles obtained the raid by misleading the judge who approved of the raid.

“Records from dozens of lawsuits stemming from the raid make clear, though, that it produced a windfall of tens of millions of dollars for the Justice Department. Local police departments that assisted in the raid have sought shares of the money.” The Los Angeles Times reported.

Outrage over the killing of the 19-year-old, who worked as a receptionist in the Vanantara resort in Pauri district, owned by Haridwar BJP leader Vinod Arya’s son Pulkit Arya, escalated as details emerged of her trauma in the days preceding her death.

Bhandari had been under pressure from Pulkit Arya, who was arrested on Friday along with resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta and sent to 14 days judicial custody, to provide “special services” to guests, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar said.

This had been gleaned from her chat with a friend, he said. Earlier in the day, Bhandari’s Facebook friend reportedly alleged that she was killed because she refused to have sex with guests as demanded by the owner of the resort.

The Catholic Archdiocese, which is responsible for the state's large Catholic education sector, received a large amount of the JobKeeper wage subsidy claimed by its South Australian schools.

Figures from the Parliamentary Budget Office, analysed by the ABC, show 73 Catholic schools received $85.6 million in funding from the former federal government's JobKeeper program.

Corporate governance researcher Dean Paatsch looked at Catholic school funding as part of a wider investigation into independent schools and JobKeeper.

"The Catholic Church in South Australia has had an absolutely ripping pandemic," he told the ABC.

The wage subsidy was available to businesses based on a real or forecast downturn in their turnover of 30 per cent in the early months of 2020.

But Mr Paatsch said many schools' incomes ultimately increased, exclusive of JobKeeper.

"This [JobKeeper] increased the profit of those Catholic schools by $66 million, which is to say that all the JobKeeper paid to South Australian Catholic schools was simply a sugar hit to their profits," he said.

The schools remitted unused funding to the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide, which oversees Catholic Education SA.

In its report to the Australian Charity and Not-for-profits Commission, the Catholic Church Endowment Society — which oversees the Catholic Education Office — said it had received $57 million of funding from schools and would use it for future projects.

"The federal government's JobKeeper scheme enabled schools in 2020 to provide significant fee relief for families in need whilst meeting all legislative criteria for keeping staff employed," the 2020 financial report states.

"Surplus untied funds has been returned to the Catholic Education Office for strategic allocation to schools in coming years."

After Attorney General Letitia James accused Donald Trump of "staggering" fraud, Maggie Haberman of The New York Times tweeted that the former president has long tried to avoid the day when a prosecutor told the world that he's worth less than claimed.

For a long time people suspected that Trump's claims of vast wealth were fantasy, but those who knew weren't saying or their lips were sealed because of legal settlements. So I was mighty pleased to poke an early hole in Trump's billionaire claims. The 2016 story was the most explosive scoop of my career.

Of course I'm pleased to recount how it happened.

Journalists digging through Trump’s extremely limited public financial records never examined his property tax bills. Those are public records in the city and in May 2016 a Crain’s editor, Peter Green, said we should take a look. Real estate reporter Joe Anuta used the city database Acris to translate Trump's address in Trump Tower into the block and lot codes used for tax purposes. Tap those code numbers into the Department of Finance website and, voila, we had many years' worth of Trump's property tax bills.

At first glance they didn't look interesting. Trump paid $175,000 a year in property taxes for his penthouse, but he's really rich, right? But the key to investigative reporting is to turn every page, and on closer look I saw something strange: Trump received a $302 tax credit under the STAR program.

STAR stands for the New York State School Tax Relief program. To qualify, you must do two things. First, you must ask for the credit. Second, your household adjusted gross income must be less than $500,000 a year. Trump passed both those tests and did so for years.

How did an alleged billionaire get a tax break for middle-class New Yorkers? I emailed Hope Hicks, who had pitched Eric Trump to be on Crain's 40 Under 40 list. (Unsuccessfully, because we couldn't figure out what Eric did.) Hicks passed along my question, and a few hours later I got a call from Trump flak Corey Lewandowski, screaming as if he'd stepped on a rusty nail.

The city made a mistake, he bellowed, Mr. Trump did not ask for the STAR credit. I asked a city spokesperson; no, they didn't make a mistake.

A few weeks later Trump said he didn't want the tax break anymore.

Shortly before the 2016 Republican convention, I asked Trump how he got the STAR credit. Charming Donald gave way to defensive Donald and he insisted he had no idea what happened, maybe he'd heard something, maybe I wrote something, but there were deductions he was entitled to.

Which deductions?

"You'll figure it out, OK?" he said. "Take care of yourself." Then he hung up.

Looks like the New York attorney general figured it out.

Israeli Researchers Raise Alarm on Pfizer Shots, Warn of ‘Severe Side Effects’

Israeli researchers have raised the alarm about Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, warning that the shots can cause “severe and long-lasting side effects.”

In December 2021, Israel’s Ministry of Health commissioned researchers to investigate Pfizer’s Covid shots for adverse events.

The probe was launched a year after the roll-out of the mRNA vaccines started due to mounting concerns about the drug’s side effects.

However, the research was shut down after a leaked video showed the lead researcher discussing the findings.

The video shows Prof. Mati Berkowitz, a pediatric specialist, head of the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology unit at Shamir Medical Center, and head of the research team appointed by the Israeli Ministry of Health (IMOH), revealing that the researchers uncovered evidence of severe side effects.

Berkowitz warns of the “medical-legal” consequences of making the research findings public.

Despite a near-total media blackout of the scandal, it is a real story that has been commented upon by highly credentialed medical researchers.

Dr. Harvey Risch, Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology at Yale, and Dr. Yaffa Shir-Raz, a researcher at the University of Haifa Health and Risk Communication Research Center, are among the high-profile experts who are raising the alarm about the research.

Dr. Shir-Raz, the Israeli medical researcher who broke the news story, joined GB News’s Neil Oliver to discuss the alarming report.

“Israel having found evidence of severe and long-lasting adverse side effects caused by the Pfizer vaccine, a leaked video recording of a meeting between the researchers and the Israeli Ministry of Health made plain,” Oliver said.

Asian country hit with shortage of national dish

Extreme weather has damaged the cabbage crop in South Korea, driving up prices and leaving kimchi in short supply

South Koreans face soaring costs for kimchi, a key staple of their daily diets, after extreme heat and flooding rains wiped out much of the country’s cabbage crop, making the pickled radish dish far more expensive to make and increasingly difficult to buy.

Prices for the cabbage used to make the most common type of kimchi have more than doubled in the past year and have surged 41% in just the past month to about 3,300 won ($2.32) per kilogram, according to data from the state-run Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. Prices for white radish used in another popular type of kimchi have surged even more in the past year, by 146%, to more than 2,800 won.

The increases couldn’t come at a much worse time, given that South Koreans are already being squeezed by historically high inflation and are heading into kimchi-making season in November, when families typically produce stockpiles of pickled vegetables to eat during the winter months. “Every time I go grocery shopping, I see the prices of vegetables going up,” Seoul resident Hong Seong-jin told Arirang News.

With costs of making the iconic staple at home soaring, consumers are increasingly looking to buy factory-made kimchi. However, shipments of the product to supermarkets have dropped by about half from normal levels, and supplies have “completely disappeared” from online shops, YTN News reported last week.

Major kimchi makers, including Daesang and CheilJedang, have raised their prices by 10-11%, and more increases are expected. Many consumers jokingly refer to the pickled radish as “geumchi,” suggesting that it costs as much as gold.

Restaurants have responded by being stingier with kimchi, which is historically included with many meals as a free side dish. For instance, a chicken restaurateur in Seoul told YTN that he’s charging 3,000 won when customers request a small serving of kimchi. A head of cabbage costs three times the price of a raw chicken, he explained.

South Korea’s consumer price index jumped 5.7% from a year earlier in August after climbing 6.3%, a 24-year high, in July. Food prices have risen even more, running 8% higher than a year earlier for two straight months.

Prices for some popular foods are rising at a much faster pace. For instance, fried chicken prices surged 11.4% on year in July. The average price of gimbop, a popular rice dish rolled in seaweed paper, jumped 11.5%, exceeding 3,000 won for the first time, according to the Korea Consumer Agency. Gimbop sold for as little as 1,000 won at some Seoul eateries just a few years ago. A bowl of jajangmyeon, or black bean noodles, now costs 6,300 won, on average, up 15.3% on year.

Small and medium-sized businesses can’t cope with soaring energy bills, Corriere della Sera reports

Over 100,000 businesses in Italy are in danger of closing down due to soaring energy bills, the news outlet Corriere della Sera reported on Saturday, citing Carlo Sangalli, head of the Italian business association Confcommercio.

“Already today many companies are reorganizing or reducing services… Between now and the first half of 2023, at least 120,000 small businesses in the service sector are at risk… This is a cautious estimate that does not take into account the largest companies,” Sangalli told the news outlet.

According to the official, the situation could lead to the loss of more than 370,000 jobs. Sangalli noted that energy prices in Italy are much higher than in other countries, which puts a strain on small and medium-sized businesses.

“In terms of energy costs, our hotels, bars, restaurants and stores will pay 40-60% more on their bills this year than in Germany, and three times that than in France,” Sangalli said.

He noted that the energy crisis may deal the final blow to many businesses that have already been made vulnerable by the Covid-19 pandemic. The official said the country needed “good reforms and good investments” that will “make our country work better and in a simpler way,” and called for some of the support measures introduced during the pandemic to be reinstated.

Italy, along with other EU countries, has been battling record-high inflation. Annual inflation in the country reached 8.4% in August, driven largely by energy costs. Italy relies on imports for nearly 75% of its energy. At the start of this year, it was importing 40% of its gas from Russia, but in July its Russian purchases dropped to 25% due to sanctions. Earlier this month, Italy lost much of its supplies from Russia when Gazprom halted flows via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline due to technical issues.

According to a recent survey, over 70% of Italians are having difficulty or are simply unable to pay their energy bills. Nine out of ten plan to cut spending in order to pay for energy, which they intend to do by curtailing going to restaurants, bars, on holidays and buying clothing.
