At the very last minute, Georgia’s corrupt Governor and Lieutenant Governor stepped in and blocked an election integrity bill that would make major positive changes to the state’s election process.

A key integrity provision to unseal Georgia election ballots was blocked at the last minute on Sine Die by Gov. Brian Kemp and Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan. Duncan prevented the Senate from confirming House changes to SB89 which included language to unseal Georgia election ballots and improve ballot chain of custody procedures. SB89 language would have allowed counterfeit ballots to be detected and electronic votes to be verified. Those provisions are essential to deter fraud in upcoming elections.

Legislators made ballot images public records in 2021 but a year-long, statewide VoterGA analysis found it impossible to use them to verify the 2020 election results. VoterGA produced a 15-point analysis that revealed electronic tampering in over 500,000 ballot images prior to certification. Another VoterGA study determined well over a million ballots across 70 counties were lost or destroyed despite federal and state retention law. Experts previously concluded in court that all of the nearly 5 million images stored have inadequate resolution to authenticate the corresponding ballots. Counterfeit ballots were discovered in the Nov. 2020 Fulton County hand count audit by four senior poll managers and two audit monitors.

Kemp certified the 2020 Election despite a plethora of issues embedded in the election results. Now there is information about ballot mules dropping illegal ballots in drop boxes inserted in the state. There are widespread reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan on Sunday, which some are still chalking up to "rumor" given that neither Taipei officials nor Pelosi's office have confirmed the trip, which would be the first time since 1997 that a US House speaker visited the island (when Republican Newt Gingrich did).

Beijing was quick to slam the trip, urging the US to cancel it immediately, with Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian saying China opposes all forms of such official interaction between the US and Taiwan. He lodged official protest, saying it would violate "one-China" understanding between Beijing and Washington and further would falsely signal pro-independence forces - for which a forceful response would be warranted.

Zhao said in a press briefing, "If she does visit, China will take strong measures and the consequences will be borne by the US," according to Bloomberg, though without providing details as to what these threatened consequences would be.

She's expected in Japan this weekend, and it's being reported from there she'll head to Taiwan, with NBC writing that "The possible visit has not been confirmed by Pelosi’s office or Taiwan’s government, but some Japanese and Taiwanese media reported it would take place after she visits Japan this weekend."

While there have been about a half-dozen US official delegation visits to Taiwan over the last couple years, Pelosi would be by far the most high profile current US government figure, also given that as House speaker she's second in the presidential line of succession after the vice president.

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) spokeswoman Joanne Ou has not yet confirmed the visit. She merely said all "friends" in the US have an invitation to visit the democratic-run island. "We will make details of any such trip public when we are able to do so," Ou said.

On Tuesday President Trump requested that the Clinton-appointed judge overseeing his Russiagate case against Hillary Clinton and others be removed from the case due to obvious conflicts of interest.

President Trump recently sued a number of individuals and former officials for their actions related to the Russiagate hoax and attempted coup of his administration.

Somehow this case was assigned to Clinton appointed Judge Middlebrooks and Judge Ryon McCabe.

President Trump urged the courts to replace the Clinton judge with someone who is not biased in the case.

On Wednesday Judge Ryon McCabe recused himself from the case.

But Judge Middlebrooks will not recuse himself from the case.

Last night Judge Donald Middlebrooks announced he will deny President Trump’s motion to approve Judge Middlebrooks from the case.

Fact Checkers Silent as 8yo Image Goes Viral, Claiming It’s a “Russian Mobile Crematorium” in Mariupol

There is no doubt a slew of war crimes currently being committed in Ukraine by the Russian invading forces. War is hell and it drives people on all sides to carry out atrocities which are unthinkable to most.

As this outlet has reported for the last six weeks, Vladimir Putin is a war criminal whose actions have taken the lives of hundreds of civilians in Ukraine, including many women and children. There is no shortage of evidence of these crimes which makes one wonder, why on Earth legacy media would take to faking it, which begs the next question of why fact checkers aren’t fact checking it?

We are told that fact checkers exist to ensure that disinformation and lies do not go viral and so people have a meter pointing them in the direction of the truth. However, time and again, these fact checkers are exposed pushing the establishment narrative — facts be damned — instead of actually seeking that truth.

A telling example of fact checkers pushing narratives rather than seeking facts can be found in a recent tweet and article about an alleged “Russian mobile crematorium” being used to burn “tens of thousands” of bodies, supposedly killed by Russian forces in Mariupol.

“Mobile crematoria in #Mariupol,” the tweet states, claiming that Russia has carried out a mass genocide.

“Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko said today that #Russian mobile crematoria have started operating in the city.”

“According to him, tens of thousands of people could have died in Mariupol and the cremation, “covering up the traces of crimes.”

The tweet was accompanied by an image of one of these alleged mobile crematoriums.

Senate Votes to End Normal Trade Relations, Oil Imports With Russia

The Senate on Thursday morning voted to end normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus and to bar Russian oil imports into the United States in response to the nations’ invasion of Ukraine.

The bill to end normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus passed in a 100–0 vote, a rare event in increasingly divided Washington. The bill to ban Russian imports of oil also was approved in a 100–0 vote.

“It’s a big, big deal that we are finally getting them done,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Wednesday after he announced the legislation. “Now, I wish this could have happened sooner, but after weeks of talks with the other side, it’s important that we have found a path forward.”

The measures have already won the support of President Joe Biden, who has long called for Congress to take up such legislation. In March, Biden announced an oil ban, which is now codified by the support of the Senate.

In an address at the beginning of March, Biden said he will sign bipartisan legislation that will revoke Russia’s permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) status with the United States, making it more difficult for Russia to do business with the West.

Biden said the move to end normal trade relations with Russia was done in coordination with Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin must pay the price,” Biden said. “He cannot pursue a war that threatens the very foundations of international peace and stability, and then ask for financial help from the international community.”

Biden also said the United States is banning Russian imports of goods such as seafood, vodka, and diamonds. It’s also banning the export of luxury goods into Russia and increasing the list of Russian individuals to be sanctioned.

Efforts to ban the importation of Russian oil began on March 3, when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) led a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers in pushing for a bill that would do just that.

However, as a corollary proposal to his bill Manchin demanded an end to Biden administration policies that have limited the extraction of oil in the United States, particularly oil on federal lands.

Report: U.S. Banks Flagged Over 150 Suspicious Financial Transactions from Biden Family

U.S. banks flagged over 150 suspicious financial transactions from Hunter and James Biden, according to CBS News on Wednesday.

The great number of wire transfers included “large” amounts of money tripped for further review by American banks, CBS News reported about the Biden family business operations.

For years, wire transfers have been the tool of choice for money launderers. To mitigate the risks to the financial institutions, suspicious wire transfers over $10,000 are flagged for review. Wire transactions involving more than $10,000 are also to be reported to the Internal Revenue Service.

Moreover, international wire payments, such as those to James and Hunter, are monitored by the Office of Foreign Assets Control to ensure the money is not a part of corrupt business schemes.

A grand jury is currently investigating the Biden family for tax fraud, money laundering, and the violation of lobbying laws in relation to corrupt business deals undertaken while President Joe Biden was in top positions in the U.S. government.

James and Hunter Biden were both directly paid by Chinese entities and promised retainer fees for their China work, totaling $165,000, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) told CBS News.

The wire transfers could be the intake component of a greater payout mechanism. In 2019, Hunter revealed in texts the Biden family’s payout vehicle. The detailed mechanism indicates a collection of 50 percent of familial salaries for 30 years.

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” Hunter described in texts to his daughter. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike Pop [Joe], I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

According to emails from Hunter’s laptop, Hunter paid Joe Biden’s phone bill and various expenses while Joe Biden served as vice president, the New York Post reported:

[W]hile Joe was vice president, Hunter routinely paid at least some of his father’s household expenses, including AT&T bills of around $190 a month.

We know from an e-mail on June 5, 2010, with the subject “JRB bills” to Hunter from Eric Schwerin, his business partner at Rosemont Seneca, that he was expected to foot hefty bills to Wilmington contractors for maintenance and upkeep of his father’s palatial lakefront property. Joe’s initials are JRB, for Joseph Robinette Biden.

The bills that June included $2,600 to contractor Earle Downing for a “stone retaining wall” at Joe’s Wilmington estate, $1,475 to painter Ronald Peacock to paint the “back wall and columns” of the house, and $1,239 to builder Mike Christopher for repairs to the air conditioning at the cottage of Joe’s late mother, Jean “Mom-Mom” Biden, which was on his property and which he would later rent to the Secret Service for $2,200 a month.

According to former Utah U.S. attorney Brett Tolman, the Biden family’s payment mechanism may reveal the core of an entrenched business enterprise, which could involve legal “predicates” for racketeering charges.

Reports indicate Hunter and Joe shared bank accounts.

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley believes a special counsel should be appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to study Hunter’s corruption. Turley noted Joe Biden has denied any wrongdoing by Hunter and may have influenced the ongoing investigation

NY AG asks judge to hold Trump in contempt

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) on Thursday asked a state judge to hold former President Trump in civil contempt over his failure to comply with a court order requiring him to hand over documents as part of an ongoing civil investigation by James’s office.

James, in a 21-page filing, also requested that Judge Arthur Engoron fine the former president $10,000 for each day he fails to produce the documents amid James’s ongoing probe of whether the Trump Organization unlawfully falsified the value of assets for financial gain.

The latest development comes after Engoron gave Trump a March 31 deadline to comply with the New York attorney general’s subpoena for records and ordered the former president and his two eldest children to comply with subpoenas for their testimony.

Trump is appealing the order granting the attorney general’s request for testimony. But in James’s filing on Thursday, she argued Trump has failed to appeal or otherwise properly contest the order for document production.

“Mr. Trump should now be held in civil contempt and fined in an amount sufficient to coerce his compliance with the Court’s order and compensate [Office of Attorney General] for its fees and costs associated with this motion,” James’s motion reads.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization in a statement called James’s request Thursday “completely baseless.”

“President Trump left The Trump Organization in 2017 and any responsive documents were previously provided to the AG by The Trump Organization,” the spokesperson said in the statement. “This is just more harassment and the latest chapter in the AG’s continued witch hunt.”

James’s office in January said it had uncovered “significant” evidence that the Trump Organization has for years been falsifying the value of its assets for financial gain, including to win tax breaks and attract investors.

It was an attention-grabbing assertion that made headlines around the world: U.S. officials said they had indications suggesting Russia might be preparing to use chemical agents in Ukraine.

President Joe Biden later said it publicly. But three U.S. officials told NBC News this week there is no evidence Russia has brought any chemical weapons near Ukraine. They said the U.S. released the information to deter Russia from using the banned munitions.

It’s one of a string of examples of the Biden administration’s breaking with recent precedent by deploying declassified intelligence as part of an information war against Russia. The administration has done so even when the intelligence wasn’t rock solid, officials said, to keep Russian President Vladimir Putin off balance. Coordinated by the White House National Security Council, the unprecedented intelligence releases have been so frequent and voluminous, officials said, that intelligence agencies had to devote more staff members to work on the declassification process, scrubbing the information so it wouldn’t betray sources and methods.

Observers of all stripes have called it a bold and so far successful strategy — although not one without risks.

It doesn’t have to be solid intelligence when we talk about it,” a U.S. official said. “It’s more important to get out ahead of them — Putin specifically — before they do something. It’s preventative. We don’t always want to wait until the intelligence is 100 percent certainty that they are going to do something. We want to get out ahead to stop them.

While the medical waste center has insisted that the accusations made against it by pro-lifers are inaccurate, it appears the company has subsequently removed some of the controversial content from its website which seemed to give weight to the claims.

Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services in Baltimore, Maryland, appears to have removed some crucial content from their website following startling allegations made by pro-life activists that the company incinerates the bodies of aborted babies to generate electricity.

Curtis Bay has strongly denied the claims they transport or incinerate aborted babies, arguing that handling the remains of aborted children is against company policy which considers both “fetal remains” and “human cadavers” in an “unacceptable waste” category.

However, it appears the company has subsequently removed a crucial piece of controversial content from its website which seemed to give weight to the pro-lifers’ claims.

In a Tuesday article, LifeSiteNews had quoted the company’s “Our Process” webpage in which Curtis Bay had stated it “utilizes Waste-to-Energy incineration to safely convert infectious/biomedical waste and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals into useful energy.”

LifeSiteNews revisited the Our Process page Wednesday and can confirm that the quoted content no longer appears on the site.

Danish Merc Confirms Ukrainian Forces are Killing Russian PoWs

Moscow has accused the Ukrainian military and neo-Nazi battalion fighters of acts of sadism against captured Russian military personnel, with Ukrainian forces themselves openly posting multiple videos of Russian PoWs being tortured and killed in cold blood.

A Danish ‘volunteer’ fighting in Ukraine has confirmed to local media that Ukrainian forces have been killing Russian forces.

“I’ve heard about one successful prisoner exchange, and that’s it. People are being killed,” the fighter, using the pseudonym ‘Jonas’, told Denmark’s TV2. The channel confirmed that that it knows his real identity, and that he really is in Ukraine.

The fighter said he spoke to some of the captured Russian PoWs before their execution. He said one of the troops was an 18-year-old Russian who worked as a computer programmer. “The following morning he was buried. These things follow you,” he said.

‘Jonas’ distanced himself from the war crimes, and insisted that he did not personally participate in the killings of captured Russian troops.

International laws of warfare to which both Russia and Ukraine are signatories prohibit the killing of captured combatants, and demands that they be treated humanely and be provided medical attention if required. The execution of prisoners of war is prohibited.

‘Jonas’ said he’s an experienced sniper with military training and experience in several conflicts around the world, and claims to have killed nearly 100 Russians during his time in Ukraine. “I did what I could. Let’s put it this way,” he said. The mercenary also said that his family back in Denmark was proud of him, and that his father was “happy to hear” that he would be travelling to Ukraine to fight.

The mercenary also spoke about the fallout from the Russian precision missile strike on the military base in western Ukraine in March, saying about half of the foreigners at the base chose to leave the country after the strike.

The Danish government has allowed its citizens to go fight in Ukraine without facing any legal consequences. Despite being widely described in media as “volunteers,” many of the foreign nationals fighting in Ukraine are being paid, whether by private businessmen, GoFundMe campaigns, job postings on sites such as Silent Professionals, or, reportedly, by Ukraine directly.

The Governor-General David Hurley personally lobbied Prime Minister Scott Morrison about a leadership program that was later allocated more than $18 million in federal funding.

Last week's budget included the money for the Australian Future Leaders Foundation Limited, which claimed to have the support of an impressive list of business leaders, was only registered as a charity in April 2021 and is yet to run any leadership programs.

It has been spearheaded by Chris Hartley, who some suggest has used the foundation to climb the social ladder.

The federal opposition is demanding to know why the foundation deserved the funding, which includes $3.6 million this financial year.

"The government should explain why it is that we've got $18 million paid over to an entity which as yet doesn't seem to be operational," Labor senator Penny Wong said.

For the past two years Mr Hartley, who is one of the three directors of the foundation and its secretary, gathered support for his leadership program and successfully asked the Governor-General to pitch the proposal to the Prime Minister.

The ABC has seen correspondence in which Mr Hartley boasted that the Governor-General had given a PowerPoint presentation to Mr Morrison in late 2020.

Mr Hartley said in the correspondence that Mr Morrison was on board with the project and asked his office to press ahead with it.

In another email seen by the ABC, Mr Hartley said that the Prime Minister's Office would "own" the project.

A spokesperson for the Governor-General confirmed there had been "several conversations" between him and Mr Morrison dating back to 2020.

"Ultimately public funding is a decision for the government. The Governor-General will continue to advocate for the program and support it once it is launched."

Promotional material seen by the ABC declared the "Governor-General's Australian Future Leaders Programme" had the in-principle support, including financial and in-kind commitments, of numerous senior leaders from different organisations and groups including Twitter, Tabcorp, Jaguar Land Rover, the Business Council, the Smith Family and Accenture.

Michigan's Democratic governor sues to get rid of 1931 state ban on abortion

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said Thursday she has filed a lawsuit to have the state supreme court decide whether Michigan's constitution protects the right to abortion.

The governor is challenging a 1931 state law that bans abortion at all stages of pregnancy but has not been enforced in the state since the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Planned Parenthood of Michigan has filed a concurrent lawsuit against the same law.

“In the coming weeks, we will learn if the U.S. Supreme Court decides to overturn Roe v. Wade,” Whitmer said in a statement. “If Roe is overturned, abortion could become illegal in Michigan in nearly any circumstance—including in cases of rape and incest— and deprive Michigan women of the ability to make critical health care decisions for themselves. This is no longer theoretical: it is reality. That’s why I am filing a lawsuit and using my executive authority to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to immediately resolve whether Michigan’s state constitution protects the right to abortion."

She explained that she would use her executive authority to go directly to the state supreme court, rather than through the lower courts or the Republican-controlled legislature. The high court has a 4-3 majority of Democrat-nominated justices.

Whitmer wants the court to recognize a constitutional right to abortion under the due process clause of the Michigan constitution. She is also asking for the court to prevent the state government from enforcing the 1931 abortion ban, which does not include exceptions for rape or incest.

"The abortion ban violates Michigan’s due process clause, which provides a right to privacy and bodily autonomy that is violated by the state’s near-total criminal ban of abortion. It also violates Michigan’s Equal Protection Clause due to the way the ban denies women equal rights because the law was adopted to reinforce antiquated notions of the proper role for women in society," the governor's office argues.

Whitmer's lawsuit was filed in anticipation that the 6-3 majority of Republican-nominated justices on the U.S. Supreme Court will either overturn Roe or create new restrictions on the right to abortion this summer with a ruling on Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban. Michigan is one of 26 states that have so-called "trigger" laws on the books that would ban or severely restrict abortions if Roe v. Wade is overturned, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

“Overturning Roe will criminalize abortion and impact nearly 2.2 million Michigan women. If a woman is forced to continue a pregnancy against her will, it can have devastating consequences, including keeping families in poverty and making it harder for women and families to make ends meet," Whitmer said.

Key Player In Ex-Clinton Lawyer’s Trial Intends To Plead The Fifth

A former technology executive who helped spy on the White House intends to invoke his right against self-incrimination if he is called to testify during the upcoming trial of a lawyer who represented Hillary Clinton’s campaign during the 2016 election, according to court documents.

Michael Sussman, the lawyer, is set to go on trial for allegedly lying to the FBI.

Sussman was representing Rodney Joffe, a tech executive, when he went to the FBI and handed over three white papers that contained unsubstantiated allegations against then-candidate Donald Trump, Clinton’s rival in the presidential race, according to U.S. prosecutors.

Sussman says he gave the information to the FBI as a concerned citizen and the parties he was representing at the time are not relevant.

If Joffe were to testify during the trial, he would “offer critical exculpatory testimony,” Sussman’s lawyers said in one of the new filings. Among the angles would be that “Mr. Sussmann and Mr. Joffe agreed that information should be conveyed to the FBI and to Agency-2,” believed to be the CIA, “to help the government, not to benefit Mr. Joffe.”

But Joffe plans on invoking his rights under the Fifth Amendment if called to testify because prosecutors say he remains the subject of an investigation.

Steven Tyrell, representing Joffe, said in a letter just made public that he spoke with Andrew DeFilippis, a prosecutor on Special Counsel John Durham’s team, on March 31 after receiving a subpoena for Joffe to testify.

After receiving confirmation Joffe remains under investigation, Tyrell asked for more details.

“Rather than provide any additional information to aid in our assessment of the risk of prosecution, Mr. DeFilippis stated that in his view, Mr. Joffe’s status in the investigation was sufficient to establish a good faith basis to invoke the privilege against self-incrimination. Mr. DeFilippis further stated that OSC did not want to get into any more detail, and presumed that Latham would understand if Mr. Joffe decided to invoke,” Tyrell said in the letter, which was sent to Sussman’s lawyers at Latham & Watkins.

Sussman’s lawyers alleged that Durham’s team is “manufacturing incredible claims of continuing criminal liability” to force Joffe to not testify, alleging it is “simply inconceivable that Mr. Joffe faces any real continuing criminal exposure in connection with the special counsel’s investigation.”

DUBAI, April 6 (Reuters) - The Middle East and North Africa franchisee of fast-food restaurants KFC and Pizza Hut has hired investment bank Rothschild & Co (ROTH.PA) to advise on a potential initial public offering (IPO), two sources told Reuters.

Americana Group, which is considering a public share sale in the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia, is expected to invite banks to pitch for other top roles in the transaction in coming weeks, said the sources, declining to be named as the matter is not public.

Americana is owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and an investment consortium led by Dubai businessman Mohammed Alabbar, founder of Dubai-listed Emaar Properties (EMAR.DU).

Americana and Alabbar did not immediately respond to a request for comment when contacted by Reuters on Wednesday. Rothschild declined to comment.

The shareholders may also consider a dual listing for the company, the sources said.

Americana was acquired by Alabbar's vehicle Adeptio in 2016. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund bought a 50% stake in Adeptio later that year.

The company was valued at $3.5 billion in 2017 when it delisted from the Kuwait stock exchange.

The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Saudi Arabia's Tadawul bourse in 2019 signed an agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the dual listing of securities in the Saudi and United Arab Emirates financial markets.

Americana was founded in Kuwait in 1964 and operates 1,800 restaurants across the region, according to information on its website. It operates the franchises for KFC, Pizza Hut, Hardee's and Krispy Creme, among many others.

Gulf issuers have raised $3.5 billion so far this year from IPOs, according to data from Refinitiv, exceeding European flotations even as global markets remain volatile in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Gulf markets are highly correlated to oil prices, where Brent crude is trading above $100 a barrel.

Saudi Arabia's Tadawul equity index is up 17% so far this year, while Abu Dhabi's main benchmark is up more than 18% and Dubai is up over 9%.

Duncan prevented the Senate from confirming House changes to SB89 which included language to unseal Georgia election ballots and improve ballot chain of custody procedures. SB89 language would have allowed counterfeit ballots to be detected and electronic votes to be verified. Those provisions are essential to deter fraud in upcoming elections.

Legislators made ballot images public records in 2021 but a year-long, statewide VoterGA analysis found it impossible to use them to verify the 2020 election results. VoterGA produced a 15-point analysis that revealed electronic tampering in over 500,000 ballot images prior to certification. Another VoterGA study determined well over a million ballots across 70 counties were lost or destroyed despite federal and state retention law. Experts previously concluded in court that all of the nearly 5 million images stored have inadequate resolution to authenticate the corresponding ballots. Counterfeit ballots were discovered in the Nov. 2020 Fulton County hand count audit by four senior poll managers and two audit monitors.

Russia's central bank says it will stop buying gold at a fixed price

April 7 (Reuters) - Russia's central bank said on Thursday that due to a "significant change in market conditions" it would buy gold from commercial banks at a negotiated price from April 8.

On March 25, the bank had said it would buy gold at a fixed price of 5,000 roubles a gram until June 30.

Since that announcement, the rouble has strengthened sharply against the dollar. Five thousand roubles was worth around $52 on March 25 and around $63 on Thursday.

Gold prices on the international market have remained stable at around $60 a gram, or $1,900 an ounce.

Russia is one of the world's biggest gold producers, but the country's refiners were barred from selling bullion into the London market, the world's largest, after the Kremlin sent troops into Ukraine in February.

In February the Biden State Department claimed there was intel indicating Russia was going to use crisis actors to carry out a false flag event before invading Ukraine – but AP reporter Matt Lee wasn’t buying any of it and ripped into the Department’s spokesman.

“We have information indicating that Russia has also already prepositioned a group of operatives to conduct a false flag operation in eastern Ukraine – so that, is an action that Russia has already taken,” State Department spox Ned Price said to AP’s Matt Lee.

Matt Lee wasn’t buying it and accused the State Department of fabricating evidence.

“You have shown no evidence to confirm that…I mean this is like crisis actors? Really? This is like Alex Jones territory you’re getting into,” Matt Lee said.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Military Department to begin mass migration response rehearsals along the state’s border with Mexico. The order comes in response to the Biden Administration’s plans to cancel the Title 42 coronavirus protection protocol, which is expected to drive the already record-setting number of 8,000 migrants to more than 18,000 a day, per a federal estimate.

“The National Guard will begin its first phase of mass migration rehearsals tomorrow [Thursday], to begin the preparation for what we are anticipating to be a potential mass influx of people coming across the border,” Governor Abbott said during a Wednesday afternoon press conference in Weslaco, Texas. “All troopers, and specially trained National Guard, will be equipped with riot gear in case of caravan violence like what we have seen occur in Mexico.”

The governor said federal officials estimate the ending of the Title 42 protocol could lead to more than 500,000 migrants per month attempting to cross the border from Mexico. Historically, about 60 to 70 percent of migrant crossings occur in the five Texas-based Border Patrol sectors. This would mean Texas needs to prepare for more than 300,000 per month — roughly equal to the population of Corpus Christi.

In a DHS contingency plan reviewed by Breitbart Texas, under a section titled, Critical Assumptions, officials noted “ICE ATD [Alternative to Detention] will be implemented on a greater scale.”

Either the Russian forces will reach their goals in Ukraine or Moscow and Kiev will reach an agreement in the near future, the Kremlin says

Moscow hopes the Russian military operation in Ukraine might end in the near future, possibly “in the coming days,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Sky News on Thursday. Either the Russian troops will end it by reaching their military goals or Moscow and Kiev will reach an agreement through negotiations, he added.

The prospect of a peace deal would largely depend on the “consistency” of Ukraine’s position and its willingness to agree to Russia’s terms, Peskov said. He particularly said that those responsible for the crimes against civilians in the Donbass should be brought to justice.

When asked about accusations leveled by Kiev against Moscow over the alleged mass killings of civilians in the towns near Kiev, Peskov said that such claims are nothing but a “bold fake.”

“We deny the Russian military can have something in common with these atrocities and that dead bodies were shown on the streets of [the town of] Bucha,” the Kremlin spokesman told Sky News’ Mark Austin. “We are living in days of fakes and lies,” he added.

Russia is “interested in a really independent and objective investigation of all the crimes” committed in Ukraine, Peskov said.

According to Peskov, one of the goals of the Russian operation has been to avert a larger conflict, namely a potential World War III that would likely involve nuclear strikes. Should Ukraine join NATO and then try to seize Crimea through military means, NATO’s members possessing nuclear arms would have to defend it, he argued, adding that it would lead to a global conflict. Ukraine has been an “anti-Russian center” since 2014, the Kremlin spokesman said, adding that NATO is far from being a purely defensive military bloc as well.

Phone call records shed light on what happened near Kiev

Looking for Russian atrocities alleged by Ukraine, Kiev’s security officials and Western journalists find something else

Ukrainian security officials and Western journalists who went looking for Russian atrocities northwest of Bucha in the Kiev region found no signs of human rights abuses, according to phone call records obtained by RT. Instead, locals told journalists the Russian troops gave them food and treated them well. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian official complained that his own side’s militia looted everything.

In a series of satellite phone calls, a reporter identified only as “Simon” tells his colleagues he visited Borodyanka – a town about 25 kilometers northwest of Bucha – and “there’s no bodies in the streets at all,” contrary to what he was led to expect.

The town has been “shelled to pieces,” Simon says, “but there’s no evidence of any rights abuses here at all.” In fact, he and his crew interviewed multiple residents who said the Russian troops had been very friendly and gave them food and water and other supplies. “And we got quotes on camera for that,” he adds.

“I don’t know what the prosecutor was talking about, but we have seen nothing like that, at all. It’s a completely different picture,” Simon tells his colleagues. One French journalist may have seen a body of someone killed by shelling, but “no executions.”

The correspondent ends the call by saying he was going back to Bucha, to “try and find some more evidence of extrajudicial killings there, but there’s no sign of any of that here.”

Ukraine has accused Russia of murdering over 400 civilians in Bucha before retreating from the town near Kiev last week. The US and its allies have accepted Kiev’s claims uncritically, citing them to impose more sanctions against Russia. Moscow has categorically denied the accusations, however, saying that Russian troops pulled out of the town on March 30, and that claims of killings appeared only four days later – after Ukrainian security forces and TV cameras arrived in town.

Another intercepted call, between two Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) officials, revealed the situation in Kukhari, a town about 60 kilometers northwest of Bucha – and it, too, clashes with the prevailing media narrative coming from Kiev and the NATO capitals.

“From March 24 to April 3, after we pushed the ‘orcs’ away from here,” says a SBU official identified only as Sergey Anatolyevich, speaking to someone named Lesogor and using the Ukrainian derogatory term for Russians. “After the unit that pushed them out moved on, the territorial defense came from Malin … and marauded during that time. The dearth of communication between the armed forces of Russia and the US continues

US military leaders have had no communication with their counterparts in Moscow since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reiterated at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday.

General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff “and I myself have frequently reached out to our counterparts in Russia to try to ensure that we maintain a dialogue. That’s in the last – since mid-February,” Austin told the senators.

"That’s not been very successful because the Russians have not responded," he added.

While the Pentagon chief said he was “disappointed” by this, he added, “It doesn’t mean we’ll stop reaching out to engage them. I think we have to have the ability to talk to the leadership.”

Austin had been summoned to the Senate to answer questions about the Pentagon’s requested 2023 budget, the largest in US history.

At a March 30 press briefing, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby admitted there had been “no conversations to speak to” with the Russian military, but professed a “willingness to have those discussions,” after a reporter asked whether Washington had been “in touch” with Russia’s military leadership.

“But it's a two-way street. The Russians have to be willing to pick up the phone and thus far they have not been willing to do that,” Kirby added.

Hackers order Ukrainians to surrender – Meta

A ‘threat group’ is infiltrating Ukrainian news reports with phony surrender orders, says infamous bot-hunter

A ‘threat group’ dubbed Ghostwriter has been spreading phony videos of Ukrainians surrendering and planting fake reports of such surrenders into the chyrons of broadcast news, according to the first quarterly “adversarial threat report” from social media behemoth Meta, published on Thursday.

The Ghostwriter hackers “suddenly” started posting in Polish and English about Ukrainian troops surrendering without a fight and the nation’s leaders fleeing the country the day Russia started its offensive in Ukraine, according to the report, written by Russian troll-hunter turned NATO-backed security ‘expert’ Ben Nimmo. The report attempts to link the Ghostwriter hackers to the Belarusian KGB based on a claim made by fellow hacker-hunters Mandiant Threat Intelligence, which admitted its own assessment was largely based on the hackers’ interests overlapping with those of the Belarusian government.

It’s not clear whether the report’s authors believe that the hackers – government-sponsored or otherwise – actually led anyone to believe the Ukrainians were surrendering on the first day of the war. As the New York Times has admitted, such reports were “not fooling anyone,” suggesting the aim was “to erode confidence in Ukrainian media outlets and institutions.”

Some trust does seem to have been eroded, though as much in Meta’s attribution efforts as in the Ukrainian media. Despite Nimmo’s claims that the Ghostwriter hackers were Belarusian in origin, the Ukrainian experts cited by the Times were certain Russia was to blame. The Meta report focused more on its victory over the group’s efforts to spread the dubious videos via the Facebook accounts of Ukrainian military personnel. While Meta couldn’t stop users from clicking on dubious links in their email, it was apparently somewhat successful at “blocking” the videos hackers had posted from being shared.

The report boasted Meta had removed a “network in Russia” for allegedly abusing the site’s reporting tools in order to “repeatedly report people in Ukraine and in Russia for fictitious policy violations … in an attempt to silence them.” This sounds similar to a tactic Meta users on the other side of the political divide have long accused the platforms’ blue-check “establishment” of using against them. However, not a single such case is cited in the report. It also mentions multiple accounts removed for nothing more than sharing pro-Russian commentary from the Caucasus and Ukraine, admitting that those responsible are merely “politically-aligned non-state actors.”

Meta and its Facebook and Instagram subsidiaries were designated extremist organizations by the Russian government last month after they officially condoned hate speech against Russians amid the conflict in Ukraine and ignored thousands of demands to remove illegal content. While the social media giant later insisted it was only permitting abusive content directed at the “invading Russians” and President Vladimir Putin, it slow-walked the “correction” until the United Nations called out the company for condoning such language.

Nimmo shot to unlikely international prominence in the aftermath of the 2016 US election when several social media users he insisted were Russian bots went on television to prove their humanity. Despite the embarrassment, he has been embraced by groups like the NATO-backed pro-war think tank the Atlantic Council and was hired by Facebook last year to “lead global threat intelligence strategy against influence operations” – something he likely gained insight into from his stint with the covert UK influence operation Integrity Initiative.

Cargo Jet Skids Off Runaway in Costa Rica, Splits in Half

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica—A DHL cargo jet slid off the runway and broke in half while landing at San Jose’s international airport Thursday, shutting down the airport, but not injuring crew.

The fire department said the Boeing 757 had taken off from Juan Santamaría Airport just west of the capital, but decided to return after detecting a failure in the hydraulic system.

Héctor Chaves, director the Costa Rica Fire Department, said that upon landing the aircraft skidded, turned and broke in two, exposing its cargo.

“Units mobilized to remove the pilot and co-pilot,” Chaves said. “Then they applied foam to prevent a spill and now they are working on an earthen dike to avoid any fuel from reaching the drainage system.”

DHL spokesman Daniel McGrath said the company was working with airport authorities to move the plane so flights could resume. He said an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

DHL is a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Luis Miranda, deputy director of civil aviation for Costa Rica, said the plane had gone only about 35 miles from the airport when it requested permission to turn back from its planned flight to Guatemala City. He said the pilot and co-pilot were the only crew members aboard the plane, which was carrying only about 2.5 hours worth of fuel. .

The airport administration said the crash would keep the airport closed to incoming and outgoing flights until at least 6 p.m. Some flights would be diverted to Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, about 125 miles northwest of San Jose.

Rep. Thomas Massie broke the news of the party line vote amidst a Judiciary Committee debate over a domestic terrorism bill via Twitter, revealing “Due to a troubling DHS bulletin, @RepAndyBiggsAZ offered an amendment to prevent the targeting of Americans due to their views on COVID vax.”

”Every Dem. voted against his amdt!,” the Kentucky Congressman continued.

The bill in question, H.R. 350 or the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021, authorizes various federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to use taxpayer-funded resources to “analyze and monitor domestic terrorist activity” and “take steps to prevent domestic terrorism.”

The term “domestic terrorism,” however, has seen its definition reoriented under President Joe Biden, with a recent memo from the Department of Homeland Security claiming individuals spreading “conspiracy theories” and “disinformation” pose a significant threat to American national security.

The document, released February, singled out individuals sharing election fraud and COVID-19-related stories.

“There is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19. Grievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021,” claimed the agency.

“COVID-19 mitigation measures—particularly COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates—have been used by domestic violent extremists to justify violence since 2020 and could continue to inspire these extremists to target government, healthcare, and academic institutions that they associate with those measures,” it continued.

The memo promoted Republican Congressman Andy Biggs to introduce an amendment of a revised version of the bill ensuring that unvaccinated Americans would not be targeted by American intelligence and security agencies.

Osama bin Laden’s niece, Noor bin Ladin, has praised Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) as well as Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) for publicly defending the US Capitol rioters.

In an interview with former President Donald Trump strategist Steve Bannon on Real America’s Voice on Wednesday, bin Ladin described those accused of storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as “patriots” who are being “smeared and crushed” by the media and Department of Justice.

The 35-year-old accused the US government and lawmakers of not doing more to defend those charged in the wake of the attacks.

“This is traitor-level, in my opinion, that those who are supposed to represent the citizens are failing,” bin Ladin said.

“We can be really grateful for representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, [Matt] Gaetz, Sen. Ron Johnson … [they are] among the handful defending and standing up and speaking about these political prisoners,” she added.

Greene and Gaetz have previously said they are unashamed of the violent insurrection and have repeatedly demanded to know how those in custody over the riots are being treated amid allegations of abuse.

Bin Ladin, who told The Post in her first-ever interview in 2020 that another 9/11 attack would happen if Trump wasn’t re-elected, echoed those claims of abuse — specifically arguing that the accused will not be given fair trials.

“It’s so shocking to see they are being presumed guilty and have to be proven innocent,” she said of the rioters.

Bin Ladin, who lives in Geneva, Switzerland, went on to claim that the Jan. 6 attack didn’t amount to an attempt to overthrow the federal government.

“This entire insurrection narrative is a hoax … I’ll keep saying it, this wasn’t an insurrection, it was an entrapment operation,” she said.

Her comments came after she published a 1,500-word statement on her website, which she subsequently sent to the United Nations, that decried the treatment of the Capitol rioters.

“The subsequent crackdown on the Jan. 6 protesters by U.S. security services, the physical abuse of arrested protesters, and the surveillance and intimidation of their political supporters throughout the United States, all constitute a massive violation of UN human rights norms,” she wrote.

Bin Ladin told Bannon in their interview that she penned the statement in a bid to call out what she said was both the “UN’s hypocrisy and the abuses of the US government.”

At least, that looks like what the story is going to wind up being for the Canadian housing market. The country is reportedly set to announce that it will ban foreign purchases of residential real estate for two years.

"The foreign buyers ban will apply to condos, apartments, and single residential units," according to CTV. "Permanent residents, foreign workers, and students will be excluded from this new measure. Foreigners who are purchasing their primary residence here in Canada will be exempt."

The effects will likely be dramatic, as foreign purchases of real estate accounted for a lot of the bid that helped Canadian housing skyrocket to begin with.

"The timing is a classic case of closing the barn door after the horses have left," ForexLive's Adam Button wrote this week. He noted that the market had already started to cool in March amidst interest rate hikes.

Big Media Lobbyists Try to Save JCPA with Sham Amendment

Big media companies are making another attempt to pass the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA), a bill that would protect them from online competition, propping up legacy media in the face of widespread public distrust and a failing business model.

According to an exclusive story published by News Corp’s Wall Street Journal (News Corp has been a major backer of this legislation, and similar efforts around the world), the new version of theJCPA would give an even bigger advantage to legacy media companies, giving them an antitrust exemption for ten years instead of the four years of the original bill.

Publishers would be given the legal authority to form a cartel, usually illegal under antitrust law, to collectively bargain with Silicon Valley tech giants for financial handouts and special treatment, such as prioritization in search results, news feeds, and other core features.

The amended bill would also force Big Tech to come to terms with Big Media, by imposing an arbitration process on them. If Big Tech companies cannot voluntarily make a deal to favor discredited Big Media companies, an arbitrator will force one upon them.

The likely losers of the bill are the new generation of independent journalists and content creators on Substack, YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms, creators that younger demographics increasingly turn to as trust in the legacy media fades. As they are not traditional media companies, this new generation of media creators would likely be excluded from the benefits of the bill.

The previous version of the bill excluded any media creator that is not “similarly situated” to other members of the cartel, which certainly would have excluded the legacy media’s new online competitors.

There is no indication in the Wall Street Journal’s report that this has changed.

Multiple Republican legislators including GOP leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) have all denounced the JCPA, warning that it is a handout to discredited media companies that also deepens their collusion with Big Tech.

Experts including FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington, President Trump’s Big Tech expert Prof. Adam Candeub, and former federal antitrust enforcer Dr. Daniel Francis have all warned that the legislation is misguided.

The Wall Street Journal points to a new amendment, which restricts the bill’s protections to media companies with fewer than 1,500 employees, as evidence that the amended bill is not simply a bailout for the world’s largest and richest media companies.

This is incorrect. Many wealthy and influential national media brands, including MSNBC and the Washington Post, already have fewer than 1,500 employees.

The survey shows Budd with 38 percent support among likely GOP primary voters, compared with 22 percent for McCrory. Former Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.) comes in a distant third with 9 percent, though 23 percent of likely primary voters remain undecided.

The latest survey could be an outlier, as other polls have shown either a tight race or McCrory with an edge over Budd.

Budd appears to get significant help from former President Trump’s endorsement. Fifty-nine percent of likely primary voters in the survey say Trump’s imprimatur makes them more likely to back a candidate.

The latest survey is welcome news for both Trump and Budd ahead of a campaign rally the two will appear at in North Carolina this weekend.

Trump has reportedly been concerned about Budd’s standing and tried to recruit Walker, another ally, to run for a House seat instead of continuing his Senate bid. Walker brushed off that pressure, reiterating in January that he will stay in the race to replace retiring Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.).

The poll also suggests that Budd would fare well against former state Supreme Court Justice Cheri Beasley, the presumptive Democratic nominee in the race.

Budd leads Beasley 50-43 among registered voters, while Walker leads her 47-42 and McCrory trails her 43-41, a difference that falls within the survey’s margin of error.

However, Democrats hope that the ugly Republican primary, which has been fought largely along battle lines related to Trump’s role in the GOP, could give Beasley a leg up given that she is anticipated to coast to the nomination.

Burr’s open seat is also a lynchpin of both parties’ strategies for winning the Senate majority later this year.

The Hill-Emerson College poll surveyed 1,047 registered voters and 508 likely GOP primary voters from April 2 to April 4. The poll has margins of error of 3 percentage points and 4.3 percentage points, respectively.

While there may not be a cool name for the project, the goal is pretty cool: three 5,700 square-foot buildings to be used as barracks on Fort Bliss, Texas, completed in just 10 months. It will be the largest 3D-printed building in the Americas.

The Department of Defense is partnering with ICON, an Austin, Texas-based construction firm that uses a proprietary, high-strength concrete called Lavacrete on the project. The company says Lavacrete can withstand extreme weather conditions, is much more energy efficient than concrete and can be printed at high speeds.

Most importantly, the 3D-printed materials are expected to last longer than traditional construction materials.

A federal appeals court ruled on Thursday to reinstate Biden’s unconstitutional executive order to vaccinate federal employees against Covid-19.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit dismissed the injunction issued by Judge Jeffrey Vincent Brown of the Southern District Court in Texas by a 2-1 vote. The White House and Justice Department have not responded yet to Reuter’s request for comments.

It can be recalled that Judge Brown protected medical freedom and blocked Biden’s last vaccine mandate on federal employees last January.

“The motion is GRANTED as to Executive Order 14043. All the defendants, except the President, are thus enjoined from implementing or enforcing Executive Order 14043 until this case is resolved on the merits,” Brown said in his ruling.

Last February, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals said they would not reinstate Biden’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate to federal workers.

“A federal appeals court said Wednesday it would not reinstate President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate for federal employees while it reviews a lower court’s order putting the requirement on hold — potentially setting the stage for the case to go to the Supreme Court,” CNN reported.

“The 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals did not explain its reasoning in the unsigned order that said the court was expediting its review of the case. The court said the Biden administration’s request to put the lower court’s ruling on hold was being “carried with the case,” signaling that the appeals court would not rule on the request until it had conducted a fuller review of the case,” CNN continued.

From combating Democrats and the liberal media as an anti-Russia hoax House chair, former California Rep. Devin Nunes is now atop former President Donald Trump’s startup social media challenge to leftist Silicon Valley.

“What these companies have been getting away with is something we have never seen in the history of the globe because a lot of these tech tyrants are bigger than what global empires were in history,” Mr. Nunes told me in an interview.

The first item Mr. Nunes wanted to talk about is the same message he had in Washington: Don’t believe “fake news.” In this instance, don’t believe the spurt of negative news articles about the Feb. 21 debut of Truth Social, Mr. Trump’s flagship antidote to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram et al.

The Presidents Day event was not a “full launch,” he says, but a limited opening to early registrars. The rollout provided a chance to work out the bugs for a planned expansion to additional access points, not just the current iPhones and Apple Store. “Bottom line is it’s the fastest-growing social media company in history,” he told me. “There hasn’t been one that has grown faster.”

Mr. Nunes resigned Jan. 3 from his House seat representing a district of rolling fecund farmland to become chief executive officer of Trump Media and Technology Group and its Truth Social blogging platform.

Mr. Nunes declined to discuss Truth Social user numbers or other metrics. He said he is complying with Security and Exchange Commission regulations for the upcoming merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. and the plan to go public in the stock market. The Wall Street regulator must approve such mergers.

The Republican’s political legacy prepared him for combat against big tech liberals. As House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chair, he exposed the Christopher Steele dossier as bogus and the FBI as a willing co-conspirator to get Mr. Trump. Washington liberals added him to their enemies’ list, second only to Mr. Trump.

His new executive post makes him a critical leader in a conservative awakening against tech oligarchs. They have taken it among their ruling-class duties to censor the right and train Americans in the do’s and don’ts of expressing themselves.

Conservatives watched as Twitter banished right-leaning activists and their content, while protecting “woke” liberals no matter how inaccurate their tweets. Beijing's refusal to condemn Russia presents a challenge to the bloc, the secretary general says

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has declared that by being “unwilling to condemn Russia’s aggression,” China has issued a challenge to the Cold War-era alliance. Beijing has remained neutral on the conflict in Ukraine, but has accused NATO of fomenting the crisis by expanding into Eastern Europe.

“We have seen that China is unwilling to condemn Russia’s aggression, andBeijing has joined Moscow in questioning the right of nations to choose their own path(is he saying nations cannot choose their own path??? A weird statement),” Stoltenberg told reporters in Brussels on Thursday, following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, along with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and officials from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea.

“This is a serious challenge to us all,” Stoltenberg added. “It makes it even more important that we stand together.”

China has repeatedly called for a diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine, but has not joined Western powers in sanctioning Moscow, and has continued to trade with its Eurasian neighbor.

The Chinese government has not responded well to what it termed “lectures” by the alliance’s leaders, such as when Stoltenberg called on Beijing last month to “live up to its responsibilities as a member of the UN Security Council” and “refrain from supporting Russia’s war effort.”

With Stoltenberg demanding China condemn Russia, the Chinese Foreign Ministry refused, citing NATO’s deadly bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, Serbia in 1999 as one reason it won’t listen to a “lecture on justice from the abuser of international law.” China’s leaders have likewise been unmoved by threats of sanctions from the US and the EU.

Amid this impasse, Stoltenberg on Thursday threatened a more militant approach to dealing with Beijing. “NATO and our Asia-Pacific partners have now agreed to step up our practical and political cooperation in several areas, including cyber, new technology, and countering disinformation.”

The NATO chief has previously accused China of supporting Russia’s war effort with “lies and misinformation,” likely a reference to Beijing joining Russia in questioning US-funded biological lab activity in Ukraine. US officials have denied claims that Ukrainian research labs were working on biological weapons, despite documents published by Russia suggesting otherwise. However, American officials have confirmed the labs’ existence, and emails suggest the Biden family was involved in their funding.

“We will also work more closely together in other areas,” Stoltenberg continued, “including maritime security, climate change, and resilience.”

Stoltenberg is not the only Western leader with visions of gathering allies to oppose China in the Pacific. Separate from the cooperation he spoke about on Thursday, the US, the UK, and Australia unveiled their ‘AUKUS’ alliance last September. China’s Foreign Ministry has described the three-way alliance as an attempt to build an “Asia-Pacific version of NATO” that is “doomed to fail.”

Before the CNN report revealed the talking point was a hoax, the establishment media jumped to the conclusion that the gap implied “nefarious” activities and equated the story with the Watergate scandal.

"This month, Denise Faustman’s lab at Massachusetts General Hospital (“MGH”) started a new chapter of its decades-long investigation of the Bacillus Calmette–Guerin (“BCG”) vaccine in type 1 diabetes (“T1D”) patients. The lab is now actively recruiting adolescent patients (ages 12 to 17) who have had T1D for at least two years to receive the vaccine in the hopes that it can restore their body’s ability to produce insulin.

Over the years, we’ve followed Dr. Faustman’s research into the effects of BCG on T1D patients closely. This report will briefly survey the history of this research as context for their two current trials, each of which has the potential to be a Practical Cure if the research results bear out.

BCG Background

BCG is one of the oldest vaccines in use. The World Health Organization recommends the BCG vaccine for all children born in countries with a high incidence of tuberculosis and/or leprosy. It is also approved by the FDA as a treatment for bladder cancer.

Dr. Faustman hypothesizes that administering a particular strain of BCG to people with T1D will balance the overactive autoimmune attack while regenerating the insulin-producing cells that remain present even in people who have had T1D for many years. According to her most recent literature, “as societies have become cleaner, more urban, and less agricultural, there has been a reduction in infections and exposures coincident with an increase in the incidence of allergy and autoimmunity. It has been suggested that BCG may replace the impact of immunomodulating bacterial exposures lost in the move to cleaner societies.” (1)

Summary of Past Results

A handful of researchers have conducted studies examining the effects of BCG on T1D. The results have been mixed and at times conflicting. A 2020 research paper published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation compared the results of four separate human trials which included nearly 200 T1D patients. The four trials administered different strains and doses of BCG to different kinds of T1D patients (ie, some who had been recently diagnosed, some who had lived with the disease for over 20 years). The paper concluded that “The pooled meta-analysis demonstrated no significant difference in HbA1c levels or fasting C-peptide in the BCG intervention group as compared with that in the placebo group.” (2)

In 2018, Dr. Faustman’s lab published results from a 12-person Phase 1 trial that showed small increases in C-peptide, a good outcome that indicates the patients’ bodies were making traces of insulin. The trial participants were far from insulin independence, but the researchers found the results compelling enough to continue the investigation.

Dr. Faustman’s research has stirred up considerable controversy in the T1D research community. JDRF and the ADA issued a joint statement following the publication of clinical results in 2018 claiming that it was not clear that the good outcomes experienced by the people who got BCG were the result of the vaccine (3). JDRF has rejected multiple applications for funding for the BCG clinical trials, including the recently launched pediatric trial. In a 2022 Boston Globe article, Dr. Steven Kissler of the Joslin Diabetes Center said the research “is not something being pursued or taken seriously by the rest of the field.” (4)

Supreme Court justices are exempt from oversight under the federal judicial code of conduct, and it is left up to them in order to self-regulate their recusal from cases. Ideally, justices identify any conflict of interest which may cause them to be biased while deciding a case (ex. financial conflicts of interest) and they voluntary recuse themselves from the case in order to prevent a biased ruling from being handed down.

Unfortunately, Justice Clarence Thomas has failed to conform to this code of conduct, particularly in regard to cases involving Monsanto Co. In the 1970s—from 1976 to 1979—Clarence Thomas worked as a corporate lawyer for the Monsanto Corporation, thus creating a serious conflict of interest for him when deciding any case involving Monsanto. While some on the right (including Monsanto) have argued that Monsanto was a chemical company without involvement in GMOs when Thomas worked there, thus there isn’t a conflict of interest, this simply is not the case; in any situation where a judge worked with, for, or against a plaintiff, there is a real conflict of interest.

Since his appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Thomas has participated in several cases involving his previous employer—in none of these cases did he follow the judicial codes of conduct and recuse himself:

Monsanto Co. v. Geertson Seed Farms: In 2010, the Supreme Court decided a case that affected regulations on GMO “RoundUp Ready” alfalfa. The decision of this case was a 7-1 vote, in favor of Monsanto. Despite his obvious conflict of interest, Thomas did not recuse himself from this case. In contrast to Thomas, Justice Breyer recused himself from the Monsanto v. Geertson Seed Farms case because his brother, Charles Breyer, was the Federal judge whose decision was being appealed.

Bowman v. Monsanto Co.: In 2013, the Supreme Court decided a case which expanded the patent rights of GMO manufacturers to include naturally reproduced seed stock—this would prevent farmers from saving and naturally replicating Monsanto seeds as they would do with spare non-GMO seeds. While this decision was unanimous and Thomas’s vote was ultimately irrelevant, the fact that he refused to recuse himself in a case of such import involving his former employer is indicative of his pattern of disregarding conflicts of interest.

While there is no direct evidence supporting any continuing financial entanglements between Justice Thomas and Monsanto, there are several indirect connections which further increase the conflict when Thomas decides a case involving Monsanto (these connections are interesting but unnecessary, as the simple fact that he worked there is enough of a conflict to necessitate recusal).

Over the past few years, Justice Thomas has taken numerous expensive gifts and social engagements from groups which are extremely pro-agribusiness. In particular, Thomas’s acceptance of a $15,000 “gift” from the American Enterprise Institute and his speaking engagements in front of the Federalist Society present a conflict in regard to his deciding GMO cases. Both AEI and the Federalist Society consider themselves conservative “free-market” think-tanks, and have been virulently against increased regulations on GMO producers. As such, Thomas’s involvement with these groups creates a pressure for him to rule in favor of corporate interests—after all, if he were to vote against GMO producers, it is likely that he would no longer receive the money of AEI or the prestige of speaking in front of the Federalist Society.

Long story short, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is irreparably entangled with Monsanto—both in his past employment and his current affiliations—and he should automatically recuse himself if Monsanto has any involvement in a case. Unfortunately, Thomas has demonstrated a shocking lack of judicial ethics—he has taken numerous “gifts” from people with interests in his court, “forgot” to report his wife’s lobbying income for years, and has refused to recuse himself from cases, even when there were glaring conflicts of interest—and it doesn’t appear as though this will change any time soon. If he were on any other court in the land, Thomas’s ethical violations would have resulted in his removal from the bench, but the fact that he is a Supreme Court justice virtually immunizes him from oversight.

For the immediate future, it appears that Monsanto has at least one friend on the Supreme Court who will put aside judicial ethics in order rule in its favor.

"The Journal's report of an SEC investigation comes just weeks after the House of Representatives' judiciary committee referred Amazon to the Department of Justice for potential criminal investigation. In that instance as well, how Amazon and executives talked about use of seller-data from its mammoth e-commerce platform was a main focus. In a letter to the DOJ, committee members cited the Journal's 2020 report to suggest Amazon executives may have lied to Congress during the House's investigation into Amazon and other tech giants' market power and business practices. Amazon denied those allegations. The original Journal report found that Amazon employees "have used data about independent sellers on the company's platform to develop competing products, a practice at odds with the company's stated policies." The company since has launched an internal investigation but has not shared findings, according to the Journal.

Media reporting on Amazon going back several years has suggested that Amazon in individual instances launched its own products that competed with those of successful sellers. A paper in the Yale Law Journal from early 2017 pointed to that reporting and described the potential antitrust issues in Amazon's dual role as platform and retailer on its online store.

The author of that paper, Lina Khan, was an attorney for the House's investigation of Amazon and today sits at the head of the Federal Trade Commission, which reportedly has its own investigation of Amazon going back to the Trump Administration. "

According to The Miami Herald, Jackson is married to Patrick Graves Jackson, a surgeon. The New York Times reports that, “In 1996, she earned her law degree and married Dr. Jackson. They now have two daughters, Talia, 21, and Leila, 17.”

According to Medstar Health, Patrick is a surgeon working at Pasquerilla Healthcare Center in Washington, D.C.
