America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) filed a brief for a case going before the Supreme Court today. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers at facilities that receive federal funding.

As you are likely aware, the medical consensus on the COVID-19 “vaccine” effectiveness is that they do not prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. As you also may know, AFLDS recently filed a brief with the Supreme Court noting that these injections are merely a personal treatment choice, and not a public health measure at all. With over 50 other citations, AFLDS’ brief breaks new legal ground.

We want to remind you that the SCOTUS has scheduled one hour of oral argument on the OSHA mandate tomorrow, Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. EST. A second hour of oral argument on the CMS mandate for healthcare workers will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. EST.

It is the consensus of the medical community that the currently available Covid-19 vaccine injections do not prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. Relevant federal agencies have repeatedly acknowledged this consensus. Therefore, there is no scientific or legal justification for OSHA to segregate injected and un-injected people. Indeed, since the Covid-19 injections do not confer immunity upon the recipients, but are claimed to merely reduce the symptoms of the disease, they do not fall within the long-established definition of a vaccine at all. They are instead treatments and must be analyzed as such under the law.

Even if OSHA possessed the statutory and constitutional authority to issue the ETS now challenged before the Court, which it does not, the substantive due process clause of the Fifth Amendment would require the federal government to establish that the OSHA ETS is narrowly tailored to meet a compelling state interest. This is a standard it cannot meet.

Poland admits buying Israeli Pegasus spyware

The leader of the ruling Law and Justice party says it's a good thing that his country obtained the high-tech surveillance software

Poland’s most powerful lawmaker has admitted that his country purchased spyware from the controversial Israeli NSO Group. He denied it was being used to target politicians, however, claiming it was used by the secret services.

Speaking to the weekly right-wing magazine Sieci, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, said that it was a positive thing that Polish security services were using powerful snooping software.

“It would be bad if the Polish services did not have this type of tool,” Kaczynski stated, referring to the Israeli NSO software. The full interview is due to be published in Monday’s edition of Sieci, but excerpts were published on Friday by news portal wPolityce.pl.

Kaczynski said that the Pegasus software represented a great technological advancement over existing surveillance systems, noting that security services had previously been unable to read encrypted messages.

While admitting that Poland had bought the software from the now-embattled NSO Group, he claimed it had not been used to target politicians, Associated Press reported.

The admission follows a number of allegations leveled against the Polish government concerning the use of Pegasus software to snoop on political opponents.

In a scandal dubbed ‘Polish Watergate’ by local media, it is alleged that the government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had spied on Krzysztof Brejza, a member of the Civic Platform party who coordinated its 2019 election campaign, and on Roman Giertych, a lawyer involved in cases against the PiS party.

It is also alleged that Ewa Wrzosek, a prosecutor and opposition figure, has been snooped-on. The allegations were made by Citizen Lab, a cyber-watchdog group at the University of Toronto.

“There is nothing here, no fact, except the hysteria of the opposition. There is no Pegasus case, no surveillance,” Kaczynski said in the interview.

“No Pegasus, no services, no secretly obtained information played any role in the 2019 election campaign. They lost because they lost. They shouldn’t look for such excuses today,” he added.

Kaczynski’s allies have previously denied any dealings with the Israeli spyware-maker. Morawiecki said the Citizen Lab and AP findings were “fake news” and claimed foreign agents could have been using the spyware.

The NSO software grants the user the ability to access the smartphone of their targets, to read messages, look through photos, track locations, and even to switch on the camera, all without the knowledge of the device’s user.

White House Blasts "Crazy" Russia-China Statements Accusing US Of 'Color Revolution' In Kazakhstan

Unlike most instances where there's crisis or conflicts near Russia's borders, the White House has been slow to respond to fast-moving events in Kazakhstan, only saying that it questions the "legitimacy" of the Kremlin sending troops to the country to help restore order under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

"We are closely monitoring reports that the Collective Security Treaty Organization have dispatched its collective peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan," press secretary Jen Psaki said. "We have questions about the nature of this request and whether it has — it was a legitimate invitation or not. We don’t know at this point."

The day prior she had denounced as "crazy" reports out of Russian media that the US and its allies could be stoking the uprising, unrest and destruction - which has seen a presidential residence and multiple government buildings torched, and widespread looting, after dozens of deaths on both the police and protest side. More recently Beijing has also floated that it believes the likelihood that the US is covertly involved.

It was during her Wednesday press briefing that Psaki called out the "Russian disinformation playbook" while addressing the Kazakhstan situation:

"We’re monitoring reports of protests in Kazakhstan. We support calls for calm, for protesters to express themselves peacefully and for authorities to exercise restraint," Psaki told reporters during her regular briefing.

"There are some crazy Russian claims about the US being behind this. Let me just use this opportunity to convey that as absolutely false, and clearly a part of the standard Russian disinformation playbook."

Meanwhile China appears to be backing President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's crackdown on the protests and riots, as well as the deployment of Russian and other foreign peacekeeping troops there. NPR has in its latest cited the presence of at least 3,000 Russian troops on the ground in Kazakhstan at this point.

"China supports all efforts that help the Kazakh authorities end the chaos as soon as possible and firmly opposes external forces’ acts to deliberately create social unrest and incite violence," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a Friday press conference. He offered help to Kazakh authorities, calling China ready to act as a "a brotherly neighbor".

Ex-Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield accused of sexually assaulting teen for years

LANSING, Mich. — State police in northern Michigan were investigating Thursday after a woman accused former state House Speaker Lee Chatfield of sexually assaulting her multiple times,beginning when she was 14 or 15 years old.

The accuser, now 26, filed a criminal complaint with the Lansing Police Department, which referred it to state police earlier this week. Her lawyer, Jamie White, confirmed the nature of the allegations first reported by Lansing City Pulse, including that Chatfield began molesting her more than a decade ago and the sexual contact continued until last year.

State police spokesperson Shanon Banner declined to provide additional information.

The alleged assaults began when the then-14- or 15-year-old girl attended Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church and Northern Michigan Christian Academy near Burt Lake, about 60 miles northeast of Traverse City, White said.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they choose to come forward publicly.

Chatfield taught and coached at the school and was the athletic director between 2010 and 2014, according to his LinkedIn profile. His father is pastor of the church, the school superintendent and a teacher.

Phone and text messages seeking comment were left by the AP Thursday night for Chatfield, 33, who left the House in 2020 due to term limits.

“She did what she’s supposed to do. She went to the immediate jurisdiction that she thought was appropriate,” White said. “Her and her family, they’re working through it. They’re looking forward to working with law enforcement to bring this allegation to conclusion and (bring) accountability for others that have been harmed.”

Chatfield, the youngest House speaker in more than a century, was the Republican leader for two years and was among seven Michigan GOP lawmakers who met with then-President Donald Trump at the White House as Trump tried to overturn Democrat Joe Biden’s win in the state.

Mayor Eric Adams has named former NYPD chief Philip Banks — an unindicted co-conspirator in a sweeping federal police corruption case — the deputy mayor of public safety, City Hall sources confirmed Friday.

Banks, who’s long been rumored to be appointed to the reinstituted post by Adams, will return to public office nearly eight years after abruptly resigning from the top uniformed spot in the department amid the federal probe into the NYPD.

The post, last held by Milton Mollen in 1992, is tasked with overseeing the NYPD and other public safety matters. Banks’ day-to-day duties, however, were not immediately clear.

At the time, Banks had said his rift with then-Police Commissioner Bill Bratton over his promotion to first deputy commissioner, the second in command, spurred his resignation.

It was later revealed the rising star’s surprise move came as the feds probed “hundreds of thousands” of dollars in Banks’ account as part of the investigation into Jona Rechnitz and Jeremy Reichberg, who bribed cops with hookers and jewelry.

Banks was never charged in the case but later named by the feds as an unindicted co-conspirator.

Rechnitz and Reichberg were both convicted of bribery and corruption and sentenced to 48 months in prison.

Banks, as well as Adams, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and pointed to the fact that the feds never brought criminal charges as proof of his innocence.

Poland’s government has taken Facebook (now rebranding as Meta) to task for blacklisting a eurosceptic party with representation in the Polish parliament from Facebook.

“Today Meta announced that it would block the official Facebook page of Konfederacja, a political party which has representatives in the Polish parliament,” wrote Janusz Cieszyński, the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, in a letter to the Mark Zuckerberg led social media giant dated January 5th.

Cieszyński said he had “been informed that the blocking is due to the repeated spreading of COVID-19 disinformation on the party’s Facebook profile” and noted that the Polish government was “itself conducting a number of activities aimed at combatting” disinformation of the type alleged — but insisted in bold print that “Nevertheless, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Poland, I would like to protest your decision in the strongest terms and [call on you to bring] the profile back to Facebook.”

“I believe that this decision sets a dangerous precedent in which a legally operating political party, which enjoys considerable support and has a representation in parliament, loses an important platform where they can reach out to its voters,” he explained, accusing Facebook of taking away “a major political discourse opportunity” from “both sides of the democratic process” — which he described as “the essence of modern European society.”

Cieszyński issued this spirited defence, in which he went on to warn against “Facebook community standards” being used as “a pretext for destroying democracy in which different views clash on an equal footing”, despite the fact that Konfederacja is something of a right-populist rival to Poland’s Law and Justice Party (PiS) led national conservative government, being equally strong on border control, arguably stronger on reclaiming sovereignty from the European Union, and supportive of tax cuts.

Award-winning teacher at Manhattan charter school is accused of grooming and sexually abusing a student for years starting when she was in fourth grade

A celebrated teacher at a Manhattan charter school has been arrested for allegedly grooming and sexually assaulting a fourth grade student for several years.

Cesar Sanchez, a 39-year-old science and basketball teacher at KIPP Washington Heights, began making sexually suggestive comments when the girl was in fourth grade.

The girl, now aged 14, said he then progressed to groping her in middle school.

A second girl also accused Sanchez of behaving inappropriately, and blurring student-teacher lines like asking to be friends on Instagram.

In 2018, he was awarded the 'Blackboard Award' by the New York Family newsletter, and in his acceptance speech thanked parents for trusting him with their children.

He paid tribute to 'the amazing families who trust me with their kids every single day.'

A criminal complaint was filed in Manhattan Criminal Court against Sanchez, a father of two whose wife is a principal at another KIPP school.

The alleged abuse stopped temporarily when classes went remote in March 2020, but in February 2021 Sanchez touched the girl's breast and pushed his crotch against her, according to the complaint.

Sanchez was arraigned on December 23 and a judge set bail at $7,500.

He was charged with sexual conduct against a child and endangering child welfare and is due back in court next month.

Parents were informed on Thursday that Sanchez had been fired, as well as the principal Danny Swersky, for his handling of the case.

Swersky was terminated soon after Sanchez's arrest for failing 'to follow KIPP NYC's procedures or meet KIPP NYC's expectations in how he handled this matter,' said superintendent Jim Manly in an email sent to parents on Thursday morning, obtained by The New York Daily News.

Following Free Beacon Story, DHS Reveals Report on Illegal Immigrant Population - Biden admin failed to produce report on visa overstays in 2021

President Joe Biden's Department of Homeland Security quietly released a long-awaited report on Tuesday evening detailing large segments of the illegal immigrant population that it had been keeping from the public, but backdated the report to make it look as if the agency had posted it online when it was expected last year.

The agency posted its 2020 Entry/Exit Overstay Report, which provides an exact accounting of foreign travelers with expired visas who are no longer legally allowed to be in the United States. The release comes two months after the Washington Free Beacon reported in November on the administration's failure to post the report, which the executive branch is legally required to produce annually to Congress and has in the past been promptly shared with the public. While the administration had released the report to select members of Congress, it had yet to be released to the public—a major departure from prior transparency standards.

Though the report wasn't released until Jan. 4, 2022, the DHS website backdated the release date on its website to show it was posted on Sept. 30, 2021, the date the report was submitted to Congress. In previous years, the release date on DHS's website reflects when the report was posted publicly and not when the report was first given to Congress.

DHS did not respond to a request for comment on the decision to backdate the report.

The failure to publicly release the report elicited anger from Republicans on Capitol Hill, who voiced concerns that the administration was withholding the report during negotiations over the White House spending proposals to hide the number of migrants who could receive amnesty under the president's Build Back Better plan. Sens. Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) and James Lankford (R., Okla.) in December sent a letter to DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas demanding its public release.

"We are concerned that DHS did not publish the FY 2020 Entry/Exit Overstay Report on a public website out of concerns that this report would complicate the conversation around the ‘Plan C' amnesty proposals in the Democrats’ partisan reconciliation package," Hawley and Lankford wrote. "Plan C" amnesty refers to the third attempt by Democratic lawmakers to get the Senate parliamentarian to allow the inclusion of immigration reform in their budget reconciliation bill.

The now-public 2020 report documents the "highest ‘suspected in country overstay rate' of all the public reports out there," one immigration expert who viewed the report told the Free Beacon. According to the data provided by DHS, 584,885 foreign nationals overstayed their visa, compared with 497,272 in 2019.

That record-breaking overstay rate is due to "the COVID-19 outbreak," Mayorkas says in the report, calling it "an anomaly when compared with the prevailing trend" of declining overstays over the years. He wrote that DHS "will continue to publicly release this report, at a minimum, on an annual basis," ignoring the fact that no report was published publicly last year.

Those identified as potential visa overstays in the report are not necessarily targeted for removal by immigration authorities. Congress mandated that the report be released annually to the public due to the belief that "the large number of annual in-country alien overstays threatens national security and the integrity of legal immigration."

Trump targeted visa overstay rates in an April 2019 executive order that directed DHS to "engage with the governments of countries with [high] total overstay [rates]."

The 2021 fiscal year saw more recorded illegal border crossings than at any time in U.S. history. November saw an increase in border crossings after a three-month downward trend.

Biden's handling of the visa overstay report is part of a broader culture of secrecy from the White House on the topic of immigration. The Free Beacon reported on Wednesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has yet to release its annual report detailing the number of illegal immigrants removed from the United States in 2021.

White House officials are reportedly preparing to ask Congress for tens of billions of dollars in additional COVID-19 aid.

The funding plan hasn’t been finalized but is likely to focus on COVID therapeutics — such as an antiviral pill — and ramping up vaccine distribution, sources told the Washington Post on Friday.

Money to help with the global vaccine effort is also expected to be included in the plan, the sources added.

Officials in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Health and Human Services are working on the longer-term spending package. The formal request is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Sources told the outlet the additional funding is necessary due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, which has caused a surge in COVID-19 cases. The White House has said it currently has sufficient funds to deal with the outbreak.

Pfizer’s experimental mRNA jab caused one in five children aged 2–5 enrolled in clinical trials to develop severe fevers, according to data from the company’s own trial. Fevers were observed in the higher dosage 10-microgram dose of mRNA, but it has still been approved by the FDA and CDC for children aged 5 to 12. All of this despite children having an extremely low risk of dying from Covid complications.

Reporting on his Substack “Unreported Truths,” researcher Alex Berenson highlighted the alarming data released by the company itself to investors last month shows Pfizer is struggling to figure out dosages for the young age group.

“Fevers in kids 2-5 who received 10 micrograms of mRNA were both more common and more severe than those in other children tested with the vaccine, the company found,” Berenson reported, adding the adverse event occurred regardless of first, or second dose tests.

The data appears in slide #23 of a slideshow presentation prepared for analysts and investors on December 17, and shows the 2 to 5 age range was more highly affected than any other group.

Kazakhstan’s president as well as international news wires are saying that Kazakh security forces have taken control of most of the city streets in Almaty, where days of riots have raged and central government buildings have been torched. Heavy military vehicles and armaments have also been seen deployed across other major cities.

This after President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered his security forces to "shoot to kill without warning" - according to Reuters and state media. He reiterated in a Friday televised address that the demonstrators and rioters will be "destroyed" as prior riot control measures have moved to "counterterrorist" operations.

This as an estimated 3,000 Russian troops are said to be on the ground as part of a joint peace-keeping mission authorized by Russian-led the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). More may be on the way.

Despite the claim that order is slowly being restored, there have still been widespread reports of gunshots ringing out over central city squares and streets, following dramatic images of the past few days showing pitched gun battles. Al Jazeera reports Friday:

The interior ministry said that 26 "armed criminals" had been "liquidated" and more than 3,000 detained since last weekend, while 18 police and national guard service members had also been killed.

Gunshots could be heard on Friday morning near the central square in the largest city, Almaty, where troops and protesters battled on previous days.

A 47-year-old man who failed to register in the sex offender database was arrested in Austin, Texas, last week after police officers caught him in the middle of a sexual act with an autistic teenager, and one expert says the city’s move to defund police has put it at the mercy of such criminals.

The Austin Police Department said Ronald Christopher Martin was seen by a police officer sexually assaulting an autistic teenager on Dec. 27 with an active warrant out for his arrest for failing to properly register as a sex offender, KXAN reported.

Investigators said Martin, a homeless man, solicited nude photos from the teenager online and brought him to Austin across state lines despite being aware he was 14 years old.

Martin had failed to register his address in relation to a previous sex offense he committed in Texas. He faces charges stemming from this as well as the more recent alleged offense, which crossed state lines.

Martin, who is listed as a lifetime high-risk sexual offender by the Texas Department of Public Safety, has previous convictions for multiple child sex crime convictions, including at least one with a 7-year boy, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to 13-year Austin police officer Justin Berry, the incident is directly related to Austin’s decision to strip funding from the police in 2020, which he says pulled resources from units that monitor and purse convicted sex offenders.

"When the city of Austin defunded us by a third of our budget they also cut 150 officer positions," Berry, who is running to represent Texas’s 19th House District, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "They always talk about how they gave the money back, but they didn’t give the positions back."

(Reuters) - Citigroup Inc will begin enforcing a previously announced "no-jab, no job" policy as of Jan. 14, according to a source familiar with the matter, making it the first major Wall Street institution to implement a strict COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The move comes as the financial industry, which has long been keen to get back to business as usual, grapples with how to safely bring workers back to the office amid the spread of the highly infectious Omicron coronavirus variant.

Other major Wall Street banks, including Goldman Sachs & Co,, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co, are telling unvaccinated staff to work from home, but have not yet gone as far as terminating their employment.

While Citigroup is the first Wall Street bank to enforce a vaccine mandate, a handful of other major U.S. companies have introduced "no-jab, no-job" policies, including Google and United Airlines, with varying degrees of stringency.

Citigroup said in October it would require U.S. employees to be vaccinated as a condition of their employment but did not say when it would begin enforcing the new policy.

The bank said at the time it was complying with the policy of Democratic President Joe Biden's administration requiring all workers supporting government contracts to be fully vaccinated, as the government remains a "large and important" client of Citi.

Citigroup will assess exemptions on religious or medical grounds, or any other accommodation by state or local law, on a case-to-case basis, the bank said at the time.

The source said the bank would begin enforcing that policy as of Jan. 14, but did not provide further details.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday was hearing arguments over requests by Republican state officials and business groups to block a Biden vaccine mandate for employers with more than 100 workers.

Bloomberg first reported Citigroup's Jan. 14 deadline on Friday. Citigroup will place workers who do not comply by then on unpaid leave, with their last day of employment at the end of the month, the news outlet reported.

More than 90% of Citigroup staff have so far complied with the mandate and that figure is rising rapidly, Bloomberg reported, citing a Citigroup spokeswoman.

Many financial companies have pushed back their return-to-office plans and are encouraging staff to get vaccinated and boosted, but have so far avoided vaccine mandates for legal reasons.

“This is going to be a challenging and complex policy to implement. The problem here is there are a variety of different laws that weigh in on this," said Chase Hattaway, a partner at law firm RumbergerKirk, noting both federal and anti-discrimination laws as well as a patchwork of state rules.

“Citi will have to tailor its policy to state legislation, and in many cases, cities and municipalities will have different regulations as well, that may require even further carve-outs,” Hattaway said.

BIDEN MANDATES

The Biden administration has used regulations to require businesses with at least 100 employees to require vaccination or weekly testing of employees.

An increasing number of U.S. companies have been using vaccine requirements to protect staff and operations from disruptions.

United Airlines Chief Executive Officer Scott Kirby said last month the carrier fired 200 of its 67,000 employees for failure to comply with its mandate.

Many hospitals have fired staff for failing to comply with mandates, which have been imposed on the healthcare industry in more than 20 states.

While some companies such as Tyson Foods Inc have gotten more than 96% of its employees to take a vaccine, those in construction and retail have resisted vaccine mandates over fears of staff resistance amid a very tight labor market.

Citigroup has just become the first Wall Street megabank to give the anti-vaxxers among its 70K employees an ultimatum: either get vaccinated (and turn over the appropriate proper documentation), or find somewhere else to work.

As Wall Street banks struggle to find a strategy to bring workers back to the office without putting them at risk of getting COVID, the bank has decided that Citi employees who don't comply with this mandate by Jan. 14 will be placed on unpaid leave, and their last day of employment will come at the end of the month, according to a message to Citigroup staff seen by Bloomberg.

This is by far the most restrictive requirement among Wall Street firms. But whether or not it will help the financial services industry bring workers back to the office more quickly remains to be seen.

Fact Check: Justice Breyer Suggests Vaccines, Masks Would Prevent 100% of Coronavirus Infections

CLAIM: Vaccine mandates and masks would prevent all of the 750,000 daily new coronavirus cases in the current surge.

VERDICT: PARTLY FALSE. While vaccines and masks would prevent many cases, they do not prevent all transmission.

On Friday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments to consider a stay against the Biden administration’s vaccine mandates on large private employers. Under the rule, enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the federal government would impose a vaccine mandate for the first time, with a “mask-and-test” alternative for unvaccinated workers.

Justice Samuel Alito questioned U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar about whether there would be a grave danger if the Court were to mull over the various arguments for and against the mandates for several days before issuing a decision — especially given that the federal government had waited months to enforce the mandates after issuing them in November.

Prelogar admitted that the Court had the power to use an “administrative stay,” whereupon Justice Breyer intervened:

So if we delay that one day — maybe I’m wrong, and please tell me if I am — but the numbers I read is when they issued this order, there were approximately 70-something-thousand new cases every day. And yesterday, there were close to 750,000. So if we delay it a day, if it were to have effect, then 750,000 more people will have COVID who otherwise, if we didn’t delay it, would not have. I mean, I don’t doubt the power of the Court to issue a stay, I am just saying, what are the consequences of that? And if I am wrong, you better tell me I’m wrong, because that it really did make a difference.

Breyer is probably correct that it would make a “difference,” but not that it would prevent 750,000 new cases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that “since vaccines are not 100% effective at preventing infection, some people who are fully vaccinated will still get COVID-19.” It adds: “Getting vaccinated is the best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to prevent infection by Delta or other variants.” It notes that wearing masks in indoor public spaces offers “better” protection against the spread of coronavirus, but does not say that masks prevent all possible viral transmission.

Rates of infection were 474.81 per 100,000 population among the unvaccinated as of November 2021, and 99.70 per 100,000 among the vaccinated — nearly five times smaller, though not zero. The omicron variant is thought to be more infectious.

Moreover, the OSHA mandate would only apply in large private workplaces, not in other settings where transmission could occur.

UPDATE: Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor also claimed that vaccinated people cannot transmit the coronavirus.

The Biden presidency stands for more than incompetence, bad governance, and the loss of American prestige around the world. This White House has also demonstrated a willingness to endanger Americans and non-Americans alike in pursuit of its political and ideological goals, particularly in its actions in Afghanistan and at the southern border.

Much of this conduct, under reverse partisan circumstances, would trigger not only media hysteria but, quite likely, impeachment.

Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal resulted in the deaths of 13 US service members at the Kabul airport, along with scores of Afghan civilians. It inflicted historic damage on American credibility, destabilizing global politics, while leaving millions of Afghans to endure oppression and even starvation under Taliban rule. It was also sold with a dangerous, false narrative: that Afghan forces were strong enough to repel a rapidly advancing Taliban in the absence of American troops on the ground. As White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told it, the Afghan forces “have what they need.”

Such spin, offered repeatedly and in coordination by the White House and Pentagon, was worsened by Biden personally, in a July 23 phone call with the Afghan president, Ashraf Ghani.

During the call, the American president encouraged his counterpart to join the deception, and to help undermine clear, observable facts: “I need not tell you,” Biden said to Ghani, “the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan . . . is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban. And there is a need, whether it is true or not . . . to project a different picture.”

This is just what Biden did during a July 8 press conference, when he proclaimed, in defiance of US intelligence, that “the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”

Biden and his administration perpetuated their false narrative not to guard classified secrets or to ensure American national security. They did so, instead, to sell their withdrawal plan. Crucially, Biden’s false narrative represented a life-threatening fraud on US citizens and America’s allies inside Afghanistan.

These individuals, with their lives on the line, were entitled to the truth from the American administration, rather than continual, baseless reassurances. Taking the administration at its word, they could believe that time was on their side. As they became trapped in the ensuing chaos in Kabul, they learned that it was not.

After the Aug. 26 Islamic State bombing at the Kabul airport, which took the lives of our service members, Biden promised vengeance against the terrorists responsible. “We will hunt you down and make you pay,” he declared. On Aug. 29, mistaking humanitarian worker Zemari Ahmadi for a terrorist and a threat to the airport, the US launched a drone strike against him. The strike killed not only Ahmadi but nine members of his family, among them seven children.

Whatever the good intentions of US forces trying to prevent another bombing, the attack cannot be easily divorced from Biden’s political objectives: his desire to look strong and, possibly, create a “wag the dog” style distraction. The president’s Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline also left little time for any planned retribution. We are, therefore, left to wonder: Was the Pentagon pushed by the administration into making an avoidable and terrible error, all to fit a political rather than military-strategic timeline? Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has suggested as much, observing, “it looks like they were in a rush. . . . You could see the political pressure.”

As for the US border, the president continues his steadfast refusal to enforce immigration law, and to deadly effect. It is impossible to know how many deaths have actually been suffered on the dangerous journey to Biden’s open border, though even the Washington Post noted they have reached their “highest point since 2014,” with the International Organization for Migration putting the number of dead at more than 650 during 2021.

It is impossible, too, to know how much money has gone to human traffickers and drug cartels, the gatekeepers to so many who seek illegal entry into America. We do know that vast numbers of drugs are crossing the border, contributing to the most overdose deaths in a 12-month period in US history.

Move Over Farmers, The Fully Autonomous, Self-Driving Tractor Has Officially Arrived

It's not often you hear the words "John Deere" and "controversy" together, but that's exactly what is coming to pass as the agricultural staple looks to debut its first fully autonomous tractor.

Equipped with six pairs of stereo cameras and AI, John Deere’s new 8R tractor can both perceive its environment and navigate, according to a new writeup by Wired. It relies on neural network algorithms analyzing data streaming into its cameras.

In fact, it can even "find its way to a field on its own when given a route and coordinates, then plow the soil or sow seeds without instructions, avoiding obstacles as it goes," the report says.

This is a far cry from the autonomous tractors available today, many of which can only operate in limited situations.

Jahmy Hindman, Deere’s chief technology officer, said at CES 2022: “It's a monumental shift. I think it's every bit as big as the transition from horse to tractor.”

The benefits of such tractors are obvious: they could help lower labor costs for farmers significantly. The negative consequences around such tractors includes the very same labor that would be threatened from the innovation.

After events in Kazakhstan took a decisive turn on Wednesday, so did western media’s orientation toward them. Now, Tokayev has become a “Russian-backed” strongman and the West has found another self-proclaimed opposition leader to drive a wedge into the country’s politics.

On January 2, Kazakhstan’s western Mangystau region saw several oil-rich towns near the Caspian Sea erupt in demonstrations over a sharp rise in petroleum prices. However, other demonstrations soon erupted in Almaty, the country’s eastern metropolis and former capital, which became far more violent. Public buildings were stormed, sacked and torched, and rioters attacked police with weapons, including rifles.

At least 4,000 rioters have been arrested, while thousands have been injured and an unknown number killed. Hundreds of police officers and national guardsmen have also been injured and at least 18 killed, including two who were beheaded. Tokyaev said Friday that roughly 20,000 gunmen had attacked Almaty and displayed evidence of foreign training.

Tokayev declared a state of emergency, said the rioters were terrorists with foreign backing, and invoked the mutual defense clause of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). CSTO members Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have all answered the call, sending peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan to protect public buildings but not engage in law enforcement operations.

Russia’s deployment of troops as part of a military alliance to put down growing protest in neighboring Kazakhstan will have major ramifications for Moscow’s foreign and domestic policy, experts told the Moscow Times on Thursday.

“For now, this is less an armed intervention than a police operation,” said Andrei Kortunov, head of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), a Kremlin-linked think tank.

“But if it drags on, consequences for Russia could mount up.”

The deployment of 3,000 Russian paratroopers came after Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a formal request for assistance to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a post-Soviet military alliance led by Russia.

Kazakh Jews, who ‘steer clear’ of politics, sit out their country’s bloody unrest

Chief rabbi says Jewish community staying in ‘until the forces maintaining order stabilize the situation,’ claims without proof that protesters may not ‘actually be Kazakhs’

JTA — The Jewish community of Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, has shut down its activities as most of its members hunker down in their homes amid a wave of bloody protests in the central Asian nation.

Dozens of protesters and 18 police officers have been killed in the violence, which began Sunday and prompted a Russian-led coalition of states to deploy troops to Kazakhstan to quell the fighting.

The protests began over an increase in fuel prices but have become more broadly directed against the autocratic rule of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Rioters have torched the facade of the presidential palace and looted stores throughout Almaty, where most of Kazakhstan’s Jews live.

Yeshaya Cohen, the chief rabbi of Kazakhstan who is affiliated with the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, said the country’s Jews are sitting out the conflict, both physically and politically, by staying indoors “until the forces maintaining order stabilize the situation,” he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on Friday.

There are eight synagogues in Kazakhstan, of which at least three host activities weekly or daily. All have suspended their activities so as not to endanger congregants, Cohen said. But funerals, of which there was one Friday, and other urgent activities are taking place. Jews and their property have not been harmed in the unrest, according to Cohen.

The Beit Menachem synagogue and Jewish community center, Almaty’s largest Jewish hub, is situated outside the city center, which “probably plays in favor of the community,” said Russian Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, as most of the violence is happening in the center.

Zeev Levin, head of the Bukharian Jews research unit at Jerusalem’s Yad Ben Zvi Institute and an expert on Central Asia, said the risk of attacks on Jews or Jewish heritage sites in Almaty throughout the ongoing unrest is low to nonexistent. Rates of antisemitism during peacetime are also low in Kazakhstan.

”Even throughout the most vicious of civil wars that have ripped Central Asian republics in recent decades, Jewish heritage sites were largely left alone,” Levin said.

Kazakhstan, a predominantly Muslim nation of 19 million people and a land area roughly four times the size of Texas, harbors significant mineral resources, including about three percent of the world’s known oil reserves and major deposits of coal and natural gas.

It is home to a few thousand Jews, according to the World Jewish Congress.

The Biden administration has done everything in its power to take focus off of the deadly botched withdrawal from Afghanistan which left the Taliban terror group to retake control. Feds: FBI informant tried to help the Whitmer kidnap plot suspects

The feds caught a rat.

According to an explosive new court filing, a rogue undercover informant was a double agent, secretly trying to help the Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot suspects snatch the governor, tipped one man off that the feds were onto the group, and tried to thwart their arrests and continue the scheme. This same informant offered to use a drone to carry out domestic terrorism acts, records show, and use charity funds to pay for attacks.

But the feds caught on to him and booted him from the case. He was known as Steve, one of four rogue actors in the Whitmer investigation who have been kicked off the case over misdeeds that the defense hopes to use to derail the government's case at trial in March.

"Steve was a 'double agent,' often working against the interests of the government," federal prosecutors disclosed in a Thursday court filing.

"Steve attempted to obstruct the defendants’ arrest and continue the kidnapping plot," the filing states, adding Steve also defied the instructions of his FBI handlers.

"Steve contacted at least one of the defendants shortly before their arrest and said he had been stopped by the feds," prosecutors wrote, alleging the informant also took measures to cover up his own acts.

After contacting one of the defendants, prosecutors said, Steve contacted another informant — not knowing they were an informant — and asked them to "delete the in-car recording of the surveillance of the governor's home."

"Steve told the informant that he would act as the leader in coordinating attacks in multiple states going forward," prosecutors added, noting that never happened. Steve got fired from the case and wound up getting criminally charged and convicted of being a felon in possession.

"Because (informant) Steve’s actions were so far outside the bounds of the cooperation agreement, it was terminated," wrote prosecutors, who are trying to keep any comments Steve made during the investigation out of the trial.

"As with all informants, before cooperating with the FBI, he agreed to a number of rules and terms. Those included following agent direction, not committing unsanctioned crimes, candid disclosure to his handling agents, and others … Steve violated those rules, ending his cooperation and relationship with the FBI," prosecutors wrote. "Steve also failed to record, and to disclose, the presence of existing recordings of pertinent conversations and events."

The Pinellas County Florida Sheriff announced Friday that a man dressed all in black, wearing a black face covering and carrying a black backpack with an explosive device in it was arrested Thursday night after running from a rally being held to protest the detention of a man on a federal charge related to the January 6 riot at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. The sheriff said the bomb was apparently packed with nails and that another similar suspected nail pipe bomb and “hand grenade type devices” were found at the home where he lives with his parents. A search of the area found no explosives–apparently the suspect fled without trying to employ the device though several M-80s were found in his car parked nearby. The sheriff said the suspect’s intent is not known at this time, he is not talking and is being held on $300,000 bond.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters the man arrested with the bomb, 22-year-old Garrett Smith, has a clean record, describing him as a “sleeper” with no arrests and no apparent social media presence but that he had recently been in Portland, Oregon and a helmet with logos seen at protests in Portland but the sheriff was not sure if he was Antifa or on the other side. The sheriff said Smith was not cooperating but had a “direct action checklist” on him listing clothing, body protection to wear and a long list of gear to carry including a laser pointer, flammable rags and pepper spray.

A federal judge in Texas on Thursday ordered the Food and Drug Administration to make public the data it relied on to license Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, imposing a dramatically accelerated schedule that should result in the release of all information within about eight months.

With Russian troops massing on Ukraine’s borders, it’s not only Ukrainians who worry about what President Vladimir Putin may have in store for them. It’s Kazakhs too. For now, Kazakhs don’t have to be immediately concerned about Russian troop movements. What unsettles them is years of Russian rhetoric, spearheaded by Putin’s repeated comments. In his annual news conference, Putin used an unrelated question posed by Kazakhstan TV last month to remind his audience that “Kazakhstan is a Russian-speaking country in the full sense of the word.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov charged that xenophobia had sparked several attacks on Russian speakers in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan shares a 6,846-kilometre-long border with Russia, which is the world’s second-longest frontier. The country hosts a Russian minority that accounts for 20 percent of the population. Ethnic Russians carry their empathy for the motherland on their sleeves.

Dariga Nazabayeva, a member of the Kazakh parliament and daughter of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev, who has a close relationship with Putin, shot back that “cases of xenophobia sometimes occur in Russia too.” Putin demonstrated his friendship with Nazarbayev when he sent doctors to treat the former Kazakh leader after he was infected by Covid-19. In recent years, some far-right, ultra-nationalist ideologues have been calling for the return of Russian rule to Central Asia, and the carving up of Kazakhstan.

“One can label calling ethnic Russians in Kazakhstan a Diaspora as a political mistake, for these are our lands which have been temporarily torn away from Russia,” said Pavel Shperov, a former ultra-nationalist member of the Russian parliament while he was still a deputy. “Borders are not eternal. We will return to the borders of the Russian state,” he added.

An informal poll in Ridder, a predominantly ethnic Russian coal-mining town on eastern Kazakhstan’s border with Russia, suggested several years ago that up to three-quarters of the city’s mostly ethnic Russian population favored becoming part of Russia. Putin first sent a chill down Kazakh spines seven years ago, when a student in a news conference asked him nine months after the annexation of Crimea whether Kazakhstan risked a fate similar to that of Ukraine. Echoing a widespread perception among ethnic Russians that Russia had civilized central Asia’s nomadic steppes, Putin noted that then-president Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan’s Soviet-era Communist party boss, had “performed a unique feat: he has created a state on a territory where there has never been a state. The Kazakhs never had a state of their own, and he created it.”
