‘Full House’ Star Bob Saget Dead At 65

TMZ is reporting that comedian and actor Bob Saget, a television fixture on sitcom Full House and in the early seasons as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, was found dead in his room in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Florida on January 9. He was 65.

According to TMZ, the sheriff's department and the fire department responded to the hotel around 4 p.m. after hotel security had found Saget unresponsive in his room. The circumstances of his death are unclear.

Born May 17, 1956 in Philadelphia, Saget was cast as family head Danny Tanner on ABC’s kids-themed Full House after a short stint on CBS' The Morning Program in 1987. The series, which was rebooted by Netflix as Fuller House in 2016 (with Saget appearing on an occasional basis), aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995 and was the precursor to the network’s “T.G.I.F.” comedy brand.

Well, to my surprise, I learned that Holodomor was a real starvation event perpetrated by Stalin againstUkraineand other countries includingKazakhstan. Decrees which collectivized agriculture were passed in order to disrupt food production. Wealthy landowners and farmers who resisted collectivization were deported to other locations or killed. “I have heard, and I don’t know if this is true, and I’d be honored if it is true, that our president and Michelle’s children are ‘Full House’ fans. I have heard that,” the comedian, who played the sitcom’s irreproachable dad Danny Tanner, cautiously told ITK.

Asked if he would have any message for Sasha and Malia Obama if they are indeed regular “Full House” watchers, Saget cracked, “They should know that that’s exactly what I’m like off-screen. I’m no different than that.”

Well, that might not be entirely accurate.

In his first book hitting store shelves this week, Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian, Saget chronicles his life, and the road he took from working as an R-rated stand-up comic to becoming a classic TV dad.

While he likens his “potty mouth” to “9-year-old speak,” the book isn’t all dirty jokes and raunchy tales.

Saget, 57, writes of visiting Walter Reed Army Medical Center each time he visits Washington. Promotion of his book will soon bring him to the nation’s capital. He’ll be discussing Dirty Daddy at a book signing on Thursday night at Sidecar at P.J. Clarke’s in downtown Washington.

He says he’s working on making a return trip to Capitol Hill sometime later this year to push for funding for scleroderma research. Saget, whose sister died of the autoimmune disease at 47, is a board member of the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

He met with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once on the issue, calling the ex-first lady “very kind.”

“There are other lawmakers that I would enjoy spending time with,” he says before adding with a chuckle, “I’m sure many people don’t say that.”

But any talk of politics quickly turns to laughs for the first-time author. In a 2008 interview, Saget jested that his friend and fellow “Full House” star John Stamos should be chosen as Barack Obama’s running mate.

When pressed on whether he stands by Stamos stepping in the political ring, a laughing Saget states, “I don’t know if Stamos should jump into anything but a bathtub.”
