US Brings New Sanctions On Belarusian Officials Who "Undermined Democracy"

Both the US and EU have said they refuse to recognize Alexander Lukashenko after his Sept. 23 swearing in ceremony, pulling in essence the same thing it did in Venezuela (where the US still sees Juan Guaido as valid "interim president" instead of Maduro).

"The United States cannot consider Aleksandr Lukashenko the legitimately elected leader of Belarus," the State Department said last month. "The path forward should be a national dialogue leading to the Belarusian people enjoying their right to choose their leaders in a free and fair election under independent observation."

Despite no clear or firm evidence of election rigging and Lukashenko's favor yet to emerge from the disputed early August vote, the United States on Friday imposed sanctions on eight Belarusian officials.

The eight are accused of corruption and vote-rigging, and the EU imposed its own similar sanctions on 40 Belarusian officials.

“The United States and our international partners stand united in imposing costs on those who have undermined Belarusian democracy for years,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said while unveiling the sanctions.

According to Reuters over 13,000 people have been arrested, including prominent opposition leaders and activists, in a crackdown which has left the streets calmer in the past week than it had been the two months prior.

The 26-year ruling strongman Lukashenko has actually already long been under select US sanctions going back to 2006, but Washington's newest round did not target him, only some officials around him. However, UK and Canada did target him specifically with sanctions of their own this week. The official election tally gave Lukashenko about 80% of the vote, giving him victory and the start of a sixth term.

Already there's talk of recognizing Lukashenko opponent Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who fled to Lithuania:

Last Sunday French President Emmanuel Macron said he must step down. "We are witnessing a power crisis in Belarus with an authoritarian administration that is not able to accept democracy logic," Macron said. "It is clear that Lukashenko must go."

Cannabis could be used to help treat potentially deadly complications with COVID-19, a growing body of research suggests.

Researchers at the University of South Carolina performed a trio of studies on mice which found that THC - the chemical that gives cannabis its mind-altering effect - could help prevent a harmful immune response that causes Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).

ARDS is one of the most common complications for patients with severe cases of coronavirus. It can be fatal or lead to permanent pulmonary scarring.

The goal of the USC study was to see if THC could block the immune response that leads to ARDS developing by introducing a toxin into the mice that triggers the response.

In dozens of experiments across all three studies, all of the mice that were given THC after the toxin survived, while those that didn't get the chemical died.

The researchers cautioned that their work is still far from conclusive and stressed that they are not encouraging people to use marijuana to self-medicate for COVID-19.

However, they said the preliminary research showed immense promise of THC as a treatment for severe cases of the virus that has already killed more than 209,000 people in the US and more than one million around the world.

Another Hate Hoax: After Months of Investigations Authorities Find No Evidence of Althea Bernstein Hate Crime

Another hoax crime.

In June 18-year-old Althea Bernstein — who is black or mixed — said four white boys attacked her while she was in her car at an intersection in Madison, Wisconsin. The white boys screamed racist slurs at the light-skinned woman. Then they threw lighter fluid and a match at her face.

Madison is one of the most liberal areas in Wisconsin.

The Black Lives Matter-Antifa mob destroyed a statue of an abolitionist and threw it in the lake this week.

Of course, the liberal media ran with the story. Bernstein was interviewed on ABC’s Good Morning America, included in a floor speech by Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D., Mass.), and received a phone call from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

But it was a hoax.

Federal authorities closed the case on the alleged hate crime saying they found no evidence of a crime.

The Washington Free Beacon reported:

Authorities closed an investigation into an alleged Wisconsin hate crime on June 24, saying they failed to find any evidence that 18-year-old Althea Bernstein was the victim of a racist arson attack, as she claimed.

Bernstein made national headlines on June 24 alleging that four white men in Madison lit her on fire, leaving her with burns on her neck and face. The men, she said, had directed a racial slur at her before throwing lighter fluid on her face. The incident was covered by national outlets from CNN to NBC News.

But federal authorities now say that they were unable to corroborate the details of her claims.

“After reviewing all available evidence, authorities could not establish that the attack, as alleged by the complainant, had occurred,” U.S. attorney Scott Blader said in a Friday statement. A statement from Madison’s chief of police stated that “detectives were unable to corroborate or locate evidence consistent with what was reported.”

QAnon Reigns Free On Amazon Despite Its Recent Ban Of Proud Boys, Redskins Merchandise

Amazon continues to offer over 2,000 products related to the QAnon conspiracy theory on its marketplace, despite its recent bans on merchandise related to the Proud Boys and the Washington Redskins.

The QAnon conspiracy theory took off in late 2017 after an individual purporting to be a confidant of President Donald Trump began posting messages to anonymous internet message boards claiming that the commander in chief is secretly fighting Democrats and “deep state” operatives involved in a worldwide child sex trafficking ring.

The FBI specifically mentioned the QAnon movement in a May 2019 bulletin warning that fringe conspiracy theories are domestic terrorist threats that could drive “groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts,” Yahoo News reported.

And on Friday the House voted overwhelmingly to approve a resolution condemning the fringe group by name. The resolution cited the Anti-Defamation League, which has said QAnon’s central tenets include anti-Semitic elements.

House Rules Chairman Jim McGovern called the QAnon conspiracy theory a “collective delusion,” according to NPR.

“We all must call it what it is: a sick cult,” the Massachusetts Democrat said.

Among the products related to the conspiracy theory available for purchase on Amazon’s marketplace include the 2019 book, “QAnon: An Invitation to The Great Awakening.”

“This book is a field guide to an important chunk of reality that’s been carefully hidden and wrongly discredited by the media. It reveals an extraordinary movement underway, a battle of epic proportions,” the book’s description on Amazon reads.

“Whether you know it or not, you’re involved because the result of this battle will determine the fate of your children and future generations both in America and around the world,” it continues.

The Amazon marketplace also offers a number of shirts and other clothing items with the QAnon logo and slogans linked to the conspiracy.

It has been revealed the girl's father allegedly punched Rowe before the arrest

An enraged father allegedly punched a man accused of plying his teenager daughter with drugs and sexually assaulting her.

Jeremy John Rowe, 44, was arrested at his Thornlie home, in Perth, by the Child Abuse Squad on Thursday.

Police allege Rowe struck up a conversation with a 13-year-old girl at a shopping centre in Thornlie last Sunday.

A short time later they went to a nearby skate park a where it is further alleged Rowe gave the girl cannabis before sexually assaulting her.

Police later found the alleged victim unconscious and she was rushed to Perth Children's Hospital.

It has now been revealed police have also charged the victim's father with indecent dealing offences after he allegedly assaulted Rowe on Sunday, The West Australian reports.

Rowe has been charged with two counts of procuring a child to engage in sexual behaviour, two counts of indecently dealing with a child, one count of stupefying a child and one count of supplying cannabis

Police will allege the father went in search of his daughter and learnt that she had been with Rowe.

It is understood Rowe is unemployed and does not have any children.

Rowe faced Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday charged with two counts of procuring a child to engage in sexual behaviour, two counts of indecently dealing with a child, one count of stupefying a child and one count of supplying cannabis.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court next Friday.

The document draws its inspiration from the teachings of St. Francis and the pope's previous preaching on the injustices of the global economy and its destruction of the planet and pairs them with his call for greater human solidarity to address today's problems.

Francis had started writing the encyclical, the third of his pontificate, before the coronavirus struck and upended everything from the global economy to everyday life.

He said the pandemic, however, had confirmed his belief that current political and economic institutions must be reformed to address the legitimate needs of the people most harmed by the coronavirus.

'Aside from the differing ways that various countries responded to the crisis, their inability to work together became quite evident,' Francis wrote.

'Anyone who thinks that the only lesson to be learned was the need to improve what we were already doing, or to refine existing systems and regulations, is denying reality.'

Symone Sanders, senior campaign adviser for Joe Biden, has said the former vice president will be at the second debate on October 15, and she is “hoping” President Donald Trump can join him, despite having Covid-19.

Asked by CNN host Jake Tapper whether Trump getting clearance from his physicians to attend the upcoming debate in Miami, Florida would be enough for Biden to feel safe enough to go as well, Sanders said the campaign is “looking forward” to the debate and the former vice president will be there – even if Trump isn’t.

Former Top Air Force Official Slams Trump over Reported 'Losers and Suckers' Remarks

The Air Force's former top civilian is responding to reports from last month that President Donald Trump made disparaging remarks about members of the U.S. military.

In an op-ed titled, "As Secretary of the Air Force, I met many airmen – no losers or suckers," published Thursday in the Colorado Springs Gazette, Deborah Lee James, who served as the service secretary between 2013 and 2017, gave personal examples of airmen she said she was privileged to meet, know or appreciate for their service and sacrifice.

Among the 660,000 airmen she oversaw, she met "patriots, warriors, mothers and fathers – courageous and selfless individuals willing to make tremendous personal sacrifice for a greater cause," James wrote.

"That's why I am so incensed by President Donald Trump's purported comments about our military," she added. "He has called general officers dopes and babies, has mocked prisoners of war, and he has questioned the integrity of career military officials. According to the Atlantic Magazine and confirmed by Fox News, he even called members of our military losers and suckers. During my tenure as secretary of the Air Force, I met many airmen. Never once did I meet a loser or sucker."

James cited examples, including Maj. Dana Lyon, whose husband, David, was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, as well as Master Sgt. Brian Williams, who lost his left leg while clearing a Taliban compound. Instead of medically retiring, he decided to extend his service as an amputee.

"Dana Lyon is not a loser. Brian Williams is not a sucker," she said.

James noted others, such as Charles McGee of the famed Tuskegee Airmen and John Chapman, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 2018, making him the first U.S. airman to receive the military's highest award since the Vietnam War.

McGee "has inspired a generation of service members by showing that we are stronger and more innovative when our force includes Americans of all races, ethnicities, genders, geographies, and backgrounds," she wrote. "Charles McGee is not a loser."

Chapman, a combat controller assigned to the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, originally received the Air Force Cross for his actions on March 4, 2002, in Afghanistan. After being shot several times and presumed dead, he regained consciousness and engaged the enemy in hand-to-hand combat, fighting alone on a mountaintop for about 70 harrowing minutes.

Anti-government protesters in Belarusian capital Minsk fought back and apparently broke a water cannon which had been deployed to disperse them, as it was filmed spraying water vertically into the air.

Footage emerging from the Belarusian capital shows a massive fountain gushing out of a speeding blue armored truck. The torrent of water was directed vertically into the air, instead of being aimed at the demonstrators, who had once again come out onto the streets to demand the resignation of longtime President Alexander Lukashenko.

Armed Black paramilitary group marches through Lafayette, but few news outlets are reporting far-left extremism

A black separatist paramilitary group known as the “Not F$%*ing (expletive) Around Coalition” #NFAC marched with weapons clutched in their hands through the streets of Lafayette, Louisiana, Saturday. However, only a few news outlets and independent journalists appeared to have reported on the situation, even while the escalation of racial tensions have led to riots across the nation over the past year.

A journalist and cameraman from News2Share.com by the Twitter name of Ford Fischer posted the developments from Louisiana on Twitter Saturday. It was later picked up and spread across various twitter feeds.

One person was arrested after firing shots at the rally but it appeared to be an accidental discharge, according to one local report.

The reason I believe its important to report all sides of this issue is because our nation has been pushed by media reports into very dangerous political divisions and racial tensions have increased because of those divisions. More importantly, President Donald Trump’s supporters, along with the President himself, have been unfairly and wrongly accused by some members of the media, Democrats and far left wing extremists of being racists.

That type of propaganda is again dangerous and wrong, leading to the growth of extremist groups on both sides, as seen in this march in Louisiana.

Recently, President Trump was asked by Fox News host Chris Wallace at the first Presidential debates to denounce white supremacists groups, as well as a group known as the Proud Boys, whose founders claim is not a racist group but one that focuses on American nationalism.

Wallace asked the same question in 2016 and the President denounced it then.

Trump has denounced white supremacist including the KKK many times over the past year as well. He even recently announced that his administration has a proposal to designate the KKK and Antifa as terrorist organizations. He also called for making lynching a national hate crime and promised a pledge to increase access to capital in Black communities by nearly $500 billion.

By the way, these promises were made by Trump before Wallace asked him to denounce white supremacist groups during the debate. Still, the president is being held to different standards than anyone, and former Vice President Joe Biden, along with other Democrats and organizations they support are not.

Moreover, news outlets are not reporting the whole truth regarding extremist operations in the nation. We’ve seen this with the way news outlets have reported on the organization Black Lives Matter, after the horrific death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd at the hands of a police officer.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — On 09/17/20 deputies responded to the Supervisor of Elections office in reference to a Vote by Mail Ballot request for a woman who is deceased. According to Supervisor of Elections Mike Bennett, his staff received two Vote by Mail Ballot requests from a husband and wife at the same address. Upon review, they found that the request for the woman’s ballot had a different handwriting style from her original voter registration. Elections officials notified deputies after comparing what they determined were not matching signatures, and confirmed that the woman had died in 2018.

The suspect admitted to mailing in his deceased wife’s ballot request and told detectives that we was “testing the system to see if it worked.” Based on those statements and the evidence collected, detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect with Requesting Vote by Mail Ballot on Behalf of Another Elector, a 3rd Degree Felony.

The case was sent to the State Attorney’s Office for review, and the SAO agreed to proceed with prosecution. On 10/01/20 Larry Wiggins was arrested at his home without incident.

The debt of the federal government topped $27 trillion for the first time on Thursday, October 1, when it climbed from an opening balance of $26,945,391,194,615.15 to a closing balance of $27,026,921,935,432.41, according to data published by the U.S. Treasury Department.

Roughly $4 trillion of that debt was taken on by the government this year as a result of COVID-19 lockdown "stimulus" packages. The debt was largely financed by the Federal Reserve Bank printing money out of thin air.

Violence on Melbourne beaches as police clash with dozens gathering and flouting social distancing rules

Violence erupted on a Melbourne beach as police clashed with members of the public seen ignoring social distancing rules to escape the city's unseasonable heat.

A group of people from Tarneit in the city's west had bragged online about ignoring restrictions and going to the beach in Altona, nearly 20 kilometres away, today.

When police quizzed them, they became aggressive towards officers.

One woman was issued three infringement notices and several others were fined.

In another incident on St Kilda Beach, a 32-year-old man was arrested after police asked him to wear a mask. A clash ensued in which they resorted to capsicum spray to subdue him.

"They just came and asked him in a nice way, wear your mask, and he said no," a witness told 9News.

"They asked him for his ID and he said, 'I'm not giving my ID, either.'"

The man was charged with assaulting police, drunk and disorderly conduct and breaching the Chief Health Officer's directions.

The incidents come as a Melbourne council has threatened to close local beaches to the public after crowds were seen ignoring social distancing rules.

Premier Daniel Andrews urged Victorians to remain vigilant with social distancing and getting tested, otherwise the state could see numbers in the hundreds again.

"We've just got to stay the course on this. We are so, so close — let's not any of us do anything that might undermine the very positive numbers, the very strong performance we have seen in recent days," Mr Andrews said today.

"The numbers are coming down, once we get them low, we can keep them low and we can open up again."

He said if people didn't do anything "silly or stupid" now, then Victorians would be able to continue to go to the beach this summer.

"I want to thank all those Victorians who were going to the beach and did so in full accordance with the rules, all of those Victorians who went to the park, who followed the rules and were able to connect with others, were able to get some sunshine and some fresh air, heavens knows Victorians have earned it, but it has got to be done in the right way," Mr Andrews said.

The Saskatchewan Party has named a replacement nominee for the riding of Saskatoon Eastview just one day after Daryl Cooper resigned from the campaign after promoting COVID-19 and QAnon conspiracy theories.

On Sunday, Chris Guérette was appointed by the party as its new candidate for the riding, and she was quick to distance herself from Cooper.

“I can say I don’t share those same views,” Guérette said at a press conference Sunday in Saskatoon.

“Elections are not won on social media. They are won on the doorstep. I still have 22 days and several hours a day to gain the trust of constituents, and that’s where I’m going to be spending my time.”

Guérette has served as CEO of the Saskatoon and Region Home Builders’ Association since 2016 with over 15 years of experience working in the housing, non-profit, health and education sectors.

In 2019, Guérette announced she was seeking the Saskatchewan Party nomination for the riding of Saskatoon Meewasin in the upcoming provincial election. However, she lost to lawyer Rylund Hunter in the contested nomination.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly condemned the QAnon conspiracy theory, citing among other reasons its antisemitism.

The nonbinding resolution passed 371-18, with all but one of the no votes by Republicans. The other was Rep. Justin Amash, I-Mich., who routinely votes against declarative resolutions.

Reps. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., and Denver Riggleman, R-Va., sponsored the measure, which “condemns QAnon and rejects the conspiracy theories it promotes.” Its preamble says that “many QAnon followers express antisemitic views, and the Anti-Defamation League has said that the movement’s central conspiracy theory includes antisemitic elements.”

Conspiracy theories “have been a central driver of antisemitism for centuries,” the preamble adds, “and QAnon conspiracy theories are fanning the flames as antisemitism is on the rise in the United States and around the world.”

QAnon advances a baseless theory that President Donald Trump is seeking to rout a network of pedophiles deep inside the government. Trump has not denounced the theory.

TENSIONS continue to soar in the South China Sea as Beijing increases its presence in the disputed waters amid growing concerns over fishing stocks.

China has the largest fishing fleet in the world and claims up to 80 percent of the contested South China Sea. China has continued to increase its military presence in the rich waterways and has already established military outposts on the Paracel Islands and the Spratly Islands – two disputed archipelagos in the region.

A report by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has found fishing stocks in the region have plummeted by 95 percent since the 1950s.

In the past two decades the CSIS also estimate the number of catches has fallen by 75 percent.

China has invested heavily in the fishing industry with billions of subsidies handed out to boost Chinese boats in the region.

In 2018, the CSIS found the Chinese Government handed out £5.5billion ($7.2bn) of subsidies to Chinese fishermen to ensure they could travel further and fish for longer in the South China Sea.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday announced he is planning on closing all “non-essential” businesses including public and private schools and indoor dining in 9 zip codes beginning on Wednesday.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says all non-essential businesses, public and private schools will close Wednesday in nine zip codes in Brooklyn and Queens, if approved by the state, after reporting coronavirus cases above a 3 percent positivity rate for at least seven consecutive days.

The closures would impact roughly half a million people in the following zip codes: 11691 (Edgemere/Far Rockaway), 11219 (Borough Park), 11223 (Gravesend/Homecrest), 11230 (Midwood), 11204 (Bensonhurt/Mapleton), 11210 (Flatlands/Midwood), 11229 (Gerritsen Beach/Homecrest/Sheepshead Bay), 11415 (Kew Gardens), 11367 (Kew Gardens Hills/Pomonok).

Within those nine zip codes, the mayor says approximately 100 public and 200 non-public schools would be closed. Students in the identified zip codes would be allowed to return to their schools on Monday and Tuesday to meet with teachers and plan for a school-wide return to remote learning.

Bill de Blasio made this announcement during a press conference on Sunday.

“Pending approval from the state of New York, starting Wednesday morning, public and nonpublic schools would be closed in these areas,” de Blasio said.

De Blasio actually admitted there are no problems with Covid infections in the schools, but he is closing them down anyway to “be proactive.”

“This was not an easy choice to make, and let me be clear: we haven’t seen any issues in these schools. We must, however, be proactive about the safety and health of New Yorkers,” de Blasio said. “This is out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with a larger strategy that mirrors what we did successfully in the spring of a larger shutdown to make ensure we stopped the spread.”

“We are waiting for the state’s approval and support before we move forward,” de Blasio said. “This is an action being taken out of an abundance of caution.”

The SEC Is Making Deutsche's CEO Personally Responsible For Bank's Crimes

Since launching its last major international expansion push in the late 1990s, Deutsche Bank has become knonw - particularly over the last ten years - for manipulating markets (most recently in the precious metals "spoofing" scandal in the US) and aiding countless oligarchs and criminals in their money laundering endeavors, among other transgressions. The bank has paid more than $20 billion in fines to various regulators around the world over the last 10 years, and as Wirecard blew up, it was revealed that the German fintech graud nearly swallowed up Deutsche in an attempt to disguise the massive hole in Wirecard's balance sheet.

The bank is also in the middle of the biggest bloodletting of a major financial institution since Lehman, with the bank expected to cut more than 20,000 jobs from its head count.

But on Sunday, Bloomberg published a story that caught our attention because it promised something so far in the post- (and pre-) financial crisis world: the notion that a megabank CEO might find themselves in silver bracelets if the bank gets caught laundering money for drug cartels, or ripping off pension funds, etc…

President Trump's SEC, not exactly reknowned for taking corporate malfeasance to task, has imposed a new condition on Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing. The CEO must now, on an annual basis, personally certify that the bank is abiding by an agreement with the federal government stemming from alleged violations of swaps reporting rules.

According to Bloomberg, DB sought a waiver from the DoJ at the end of last month to settle the swaps violations. But when approached, the SEC surprised Deutsche by adding an unexpected stipulation: that the bank's CEO and top attorney personally vouch that the bank is complying with its commitments to US prosecutors.

The SEC in almost every case grants firms waivers that exempt them from additional punishments, but Deutsche Bank didn’t immediately realize it needed one. That kicked-off a flurry of behind-the-scenes negotiations between Deutsche Bank and the SEC, with the lender ultimately securing its crucial waiver on Sept. 24.

What makes the Deutsche Bank situation stand out is the harsh stipulation that the SEC attached: The bank’s CEO and top lawyer must personally attest to the firm’s compliance with the CFTC settlement for three years.

It’s debatable whether Sewing, who became CEO in 2018, faces much legal peril. He would likely only face consequences if he certified that Deutsche Bank was complying with the CFTC settlement and the bank wasn’t. Still, financial firms are typically loath to offer regulators concessions that put top management at risk.

In its request for an SEC waiver, Deutsche Bank said it has an established process for assessing the collateral consequences of settling enforcement actions. However, the possibility of the additional SEC penalty wasn’t considered, the firm said in its application. Deutsche Bank added that the alleged CFTC violations were unintentional and completely unrelated to its mutual fund business.

Both of the SEC’s Republican commissioners and its two Democrats approved the waiver with the certification requirement, according to a tally of votes on the agency’s website. SEC Chairman Jay Clayton, a political independent, didn’t participate in the vote.

Judicial Watch strikes again!

Several counties in the battleground state of Pennsylvania were forced to admit they submitted erroneous information to the government regarding the state’s eligible voters.

Earlier this year, conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against three counties in Pennsylvania in an effort to clean up their dirty voting rolls after they discovered the number of registered voters was unusually high.

Dirty voter rolls increase the likelihood of fraud.

Judicial Watch discovered Bucks County, Chester County and Delaware County had an unusually low number of voters removed under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

Sure enough, these three counties admitted they submitted inaccurate data to the government regarding eligible voters, thanks to Judicial Watch.

Judicial Watch announced today that the State of Pennsylvania and three Pennsylvania counties admitted they reported incorrect information to a federal agency concerning the removal of ineligible voters from their voter rolls.

Federal regulations require Pennsylvania to certify to the federal Election Assistance Commission (EAC) the number of voter registrations removed from the rolls under the NVRA because the voter has moved out of state. According to data the State certified to the EAC in the most recent two-year reporting period:

Bucks County, with about 457,000 registrations, removed a total of eight names under the relevant NVRA procedures;

Chester County, with about 357,000 registrations, removed five names under those procedures; and

Delaware County, with about 403,000 registrations, removed four names under those procedures.

In recent court filings, Pennsylvania admitted it had certified incorrect data to the EAC. The State alleged unverified, revised figures for Bucks, Chester, and Delaware counties. Those three counties also alleged their own unverified, revised figures, which differed, however, from those provided by the State. The new numbers alleged by the State and its counties are still a small fraction of the voter names likely inactive, according to Judicial Watch’s analysis provided to the court. Judicial Watch contends that, “even if these numbers are accurate, which we do not concede, they would still be removing too few old registrations.”

A new OIG report details the systematic lack attention paid to the third-party administrator reimbursement process.

The Golden Horseshoe is a weekly designation from Just the News intended to highlight egregious examples of wasteful taxpayer spending by the government. The award is named for the horseshoe-shaped toilet seats for military airplanes that cost the Pentagon a whopping $640 each back in the 1980s.

This week, our award is going to the Department of Veterans Affairs, for spending an estimated $132.1 million more than necessary by reimbursing third-party administrative healthcare claims at rates significantly higher than the market average for similar medical services.

A new Veterans Affairs inspector general report details an audit of the Veterans Choice Program that shows the Office of Community Care "did not ensure that payment-rate schedules were current, accurate, and complete to prevent overpayments" pertaining to the Choice Act.

The Choice Program, which ran through 2019, was an initiative that was meant to give veterans more options for receiving healthcare (from non-VA providers), in addition to granting the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs more authority to get rid ineffective executives at the department.

Two past OIG reports revealed that the program had been plagued with serious issues since its inception, wasting more than $140 million cumulatively on payment errors.

Within the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Office of Community Care is the division responsible for arranging payments between the agency and third-party administrators. They were therefore contractually obligated to reimburse third-party administrators at "verified usual and customary rates when no Medicare or VA fee schedule rates were available," according to the report.

He accused them of “collective betrayal” while putting their parties and personal greed above the needs of the Lebanese people.

Some political observers now believe that Lebanon may well be going the way of Somalia, as evidenced by the characteristics of a failing state, such as lack of governance, corruption and incompetence, chronic humanitarian problems, and persistent social tensions.

Prime minister-designate Moustapha Adib stepped down September 26, and Lebanon’s Central Bank reserves may soon dry up and the government would no longer be able to subsidize basic goods such as fuel, medicine, and wheat.

Macron has been pressing Lebanese politicians to form a Cabinet made up of technocrats that can work on urgent reforms, and Macron has traveled twice to Beirut since August 4, while making it a personal mission to try to repair the devastated country, which some see as a neo-colonial farce.

Macron criticized the Lebanese system of sectarian politics, “as if competence was linked to religious confession.”

He lambasted Hezbollah demanding to know its characteristics and identity, and he criticized Lebanese political leaders from all parties and dynasties. Each Lebanese faction has found a foreign godfather and has ended up as a pawn in a regional and international chess game. Tens of billions of dollars have reportedly been looted by politicians and deposited in European and American banks.

Welcome to the new medical fascism of 2020. The New England Journal of Medicine, the same fake science rag that committed total fraud to dishonestly smear hydroxychloroquine and protect the interests of vaccine companies, is now saying that all human beings must be forced to take mandatory vaccines. Those who refuse should face severe punishment, the NEJM insists, and insidious measures should be pursued to make sure no one can challenge the punishments in a court of law.

“[B]ecause of the infectiousness and dangerousness of the virus, relatively substantive penalties could be justified, including employment suspension or stay-at-home orders for persons in designated high-priority groups who refuse vaccination,” says the NEJM paper.

It also states that authoritarian medical personnel should bypass due process so that no one can challenge their orders in a court of law, stating, “Neither fines nor criminal penalties should be used, however… criminal penalties invite legal challenges on procedural due-process grounds [and] may stoke distrust.”

It goes on to explain that vaccine mandates should not be promoted as mandates. Instead, those who refuse vaccines should be harshly punished as a way to force the mandates without ever declaring it. “[S]tate mandates should not be structured as compulsory vaccination (absolute requirements); instead, noncompliance should incur a penalty,” the paper states.

And then, incredibly, the same paper goes on to claim that health authorities must “build public trust” through a “transparent and inclusive process,” even though the same paper openly claimed the public should be misled and coerced into vaccine mandates.

To its credit, the paper does argue that vaccine manufacturers should not be involved in crafting public policy or pushing mandates, since no one trusts the vaccine companies anymore. (Amazing how quickly that happened, isn’t it?)

So the bottom line here is as follows:

The health authoritarians are pushing for mandatory vaccines, but they won’t call them “mandates.”

Instead, they will PUNISH you for refusing to go along with their mandates, making your life miserable.

They are avoiding any mandates that could be challenged in a court of law in order to bypass due process.

They then claim this is how the vaccine industry can “build trust” with the public by pretending to be engaged in “transparency.”

Thanks to covid-19 tyrants, the whole idea of “informed consent” is now ancient history across the medical science establishment. Vaccine promoters believe they are the new “Judge Dredd” enforcers of society, and they believe that their experimental concoctions, no matter how risky or dangerous, should be forcibly injected into all human beings. Those who resist should be severely punished, they claim, and they will punish you in a way that you can’t challenge in a court of law.

And the fake news media is 100% behind all this and will shame you if you don’t go along.

I read this article this morning and It's been bothering me ever since - can't let it go

My Rep (Rick Crawford R-AR) voted to condemn ME (and probably most of his supporters).

Seattle police arrested 16 people Saturday night for property destruction, assault, failure to disperse, and rendering criminal assistance after a protest.

SPD says the group of people left Cal Anderson Park and headed north shortly after 9 p.m. A few people in the crowd were causing property damage along the way.

The crowd shattered windows and threw explosives into a coffee shop in the 1600 block of East Olive Way, SPD reports.

Commanders at the scene declared the protest an unlawful assembly and issued a dispersal order. Officers began moving the crowd out of the area.

SPD says someone threw an explosive at officers when the group moved Eastbound along East Olive Way.

2 injured in knife attack in Downtown Portland, 1 arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Police arrested a man early Saturday after they said he slashed two people with a knife in Downtown Portland.

Central Precinct officers were called to the area of SW 13th Avenue and SW Columbia Street around 2:00 a.m. on reports someone trying to stab people passing by. Upon their arrival, officers found two victims with serious cuts; one person had a cut on the arm, the other person’s cut was on the ear.

Witnesses say they saw a confrontation between the man with a knife and the victim at the corner of SW 13th and Columbia. At one point, the victim ran behind some shrubs in an effort to put a small tree in between themselves and the suspect. Witnesses said the victim was bleeding at that point.

Suspect: 29-year-old Hillsboro resident Travis Sadler. (MCSO). Witnesses believe that the person with the arm injury was the initial victim, and the other person cut on the ear had tried to stop the suspect by grabbing or tackling him. The victim with the arm injury was taken to a hospital for treatment. Both injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

One neighbor also said they believed others tried to step in to stop the attack and were nicked in the process, but didn’t stick around to talk to police officers.

Officers arrested the suspect without further incident. The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Hillsboro resident Travis Sadler, according to police. He faces charges of assault and the unlawful use of a weapon.

Harvey Weinstein Charged With 3 More Rapes In California

Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein was charged with six additional forcible sexual assault counts involving two victims stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred more than a decade ago.

The case was amended to add three felony counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation. Weinstein now faces a total of four counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint and one count of sexual penetration by use of force, involving five victims for crimes that span from 2004 to 2013.

“I am thankful to the first women who reported these crimes and whose courage have given strength to others to come forward,” District Attorney Lacey said. “The willingness of these latest victims to testify against a powerful man gives us the additional evidence we need to build a compelling criminal case.”

It is the second time the criminal complaint against Weinstein has been amended to include additional counts. If convicted as charged in the amended complaint, the defendant faces up to 140 years to life in state prison.

The new charges include an incident between September 2004 and September 2005 where Weinstein allegedly raped a woman at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

The defendant also is accused of raping another woman on two separate occasions in November 2009 and November 2010 at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

Weinstein was originally charged in January with sexually assaulting two women during separate incidents in 2013. The complaint was amended in April to add a charge that the defendant allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel in May 2010.

Prosecutors are seeking the temporary custody of Weinstein from New York. An extradition hearing is set for December 11 in Buffalo.

Deputy District Attorneys Paul Thompson and Marlene Martinez are prosecuting the case.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills police departments and the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.

Azerbaijani President Says His Soldiers Are Crushing Armenians Like ‘Dogs’

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has demanded Armenia to set a timetable for withdrawing from the region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In a televised address to the nation on October 4, Aliyev said Azerbaijani forces are advancing to recapture the region of Nagorno-Karabakh which was lost to ethnic Armenians in 1990.

“The Azeri soldier is chasing them [Armenians] like dogs, the Azeri soldier is standing at their posts, we have taken their weaponry, we are carrying out the mission of liberation,” the President said.

Aliyev went on to say that Azerbaijan had waited 30 years to recapture its territory [Nagorno-Karakah] from Armenian forces.

“Nagorno-Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. We must return and we shall return.” He added.

Aliyev’s address came a few hours after a series of rocket strikes by Azerbaijani forces on the city of Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh. Civilian casualties were reported.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a large offensive against Armenian forces in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 27. Syrian militants and allegedly Turkish troops are backing the offensive.

Azerbaijani forces managed to make some gains in the northeastern and southeastern parts of the region. However, Armenian troops are still showing fierce resistance.

Aliyev’s new statements indicate that Azerbaijan is not willing to accept any ceasefire as for now. Talks with Armenia also appear to be highly-unlikely.

Melbourne's new trains being built in China by blacklisted Belt and Road firm

The Chinese company which won the $2.3 billion contract to build Melbourne's new train fleet is central to President Xi Jinping's controversial Belt and Road Initiative and was recently blacklisted by the US government due to the security risks posed by its ties to the Chinese government.

CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, which beat local bids in 2016 to win the contract to build 65 new high-capacity metro trains, is a subsidiary of major Chinese state-owned rolling stock manufacturer CRRC and has been identified as a beneficiary of Uighur labour.

The news comes after fresh scrutiny on the Victorian government's dealings with the Chinese government with the revelation that Premier Daniel Andrews last year advertised the state as being "China's gateway to Australia".

The train project, which is more than 18 months behind schedule, was signed a week before Mr Andrews travelled to China in September 2016. Three years later, when the Premier sought more Chinese investment and gave his official endorsement to the BRI, China's expansionist infrastructure policy, the deal was held up as an exemplar.

But CRRC has been flagged by the US Defence Department as a potential cyber-security threat through its involvement in critical infrastructure. It was also listed in a March report from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute as one of 82 companies directly or indirectly benefiting from the use of Uighur workers through potentially abusive labour programs.

The report found KTK Group, a supplier to CRRC, began using Uighur labour in 2019 at one of its Chinese factories. The Victorian government has sought assurances from the company that it is not benefiting from exploited labour.
