Two campaign aides shot in Minneapolis

A teen killed in a north Minneapolis shooting Monday was an outreach coordinator for a Republican congressional campaign.

Minneapolis police say the 17-year-old male victim died at the scene of the shooting on Fremont Avenue North. Another man was also shot but was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds.

Both were members of the campaign team of Lacy Johnson, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Johnson said he was saddened by the incident.

“It is shocking and unnecessary acts of violence like this that prove why change is needed now more than ever in our community,” he said. “The shooting did not occur during a campaign or outreach and we do not believe it has any connection to their work for the campaign.”

Police say a preliminary investigation found the two were standing outside a service station when they were approached on foot by the assailant. The shooting suspect fled on foot.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting. Identities of the men who were shot have not been released.

Treasury Sanctions Cyber Actors Backed by Iranian Intelligence Ministry

https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm1127

“The FBI, through our Cyber Division, is committed to investigating and disrupting malicious cyber campaigns, and collaborating with our U.S. government partners to impose risks and consequences on our cyber adversaries. Today, the FBI is releasing indicators of compromise attributed to Iran’s MOIS to help computer security professionals everywhere protect their networks from the malign actions of this nation state,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “Iran’s MOIS, through their front company Rana, recruited highly educated people and turned their cyber talents into tools to exploit, harass, and repress their fellow citizens and others deemed a threat to the regime. We are proud to join our partners at the Department of Treasury in calling out these actions. The sanctions announced today hold these 45 individuals accountable for stealing data not just from dozens of networks here in the United States, but from networks in Iran’s neighboring countries and around the world."

Washington – Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions on Iranian cyber threat group Advanced Persistent Threat 39 (APT39), 45 associated individuals, and one front company. Masked behind its front company, Rana Intelligence Computing Company (Rana), the Government of Iran (GOI) employed a years-long malware campaign that targeted Iranian dissidents, journalists, and international companies in the travel sector. Concurrent with OFAC’s action, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released detailed information about APT39 in a public intelligence alert.

“The Iranian regime uses its Intelligence Ministry as a tool to target innocent civilians and companies, and advance its destabilizing agenda around the world,” said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin. “The United States is determined to counter offensive cyber campaigns designed to jeopardize security and inflict damage on the international travel sector.”

These individuals and entities were designated pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13553.

Rana advances Iranian national security objectives and the strategic goals of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) by conducting computer intrusions and malware campaigns against perceived adversaries, including foreign governments and other individuals the MOIS considers a threat. APT39 is being designated pursuant to E.O. 13553 for being owned or controlled by the MOIS, which was previously designated on February 16, 2012 pursuant to Executive Orders 13224, 13553, and 13572, which target terrorists and those responsible for human rights abuses in Iran and Syria, respectively.

Rana is being designated pursuant to E.O. 13553 for being owned or controlled by MOIS. Forty-five cyber actors are also being designated pursuant to E.O. 13553 for having materially assisted, sponsored, or providing financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of the MOIS. The identification of these individuals and their roles related to MOIS and APT39 comes as the result of a long-term investigation conducted by the FBI Boston Division.

The 45 designated individuals served in various capacities while employed at Rana, including as managers, programmers, and hacking experts. These individuals provided support for ongoing MOIS cyber intrusions targeting the networks of international businesses, institutions, air carriers, and other targets that the MOIS considered a threat.

The FBI advisory, also being released today, details eight separate and distinct sets of malware used by MOIS through Rana to conduct their computer intrusion activities. This is the first time most of these technical indicators have been publicly discussed and attributed to MOIS by the U.S. government. By making the code public, the FBI is hindering MOIS’s ability to continue their campaign, ending the victimization of thousands of individuals and organizations around the world.

QAnon: Mysterious conspiracy leader points followers to Tucker Carlson interview warning of ‘coup’ against Trump

The anonymous “Q”, mysterious inspirer of the QAnon movement, has posted a cryptic message warning of an effort to disrupt and delegitimise the election – and pointing as evidence to an interview conducted by Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

The interview featured a former White House staffer using a well-worn Kremlin-style conspiracy theory to outline a supposed Democratic plot against Donald Trump, one that’s supposedly being advanced by hidden "operatives".

QAnon, which largely revolves around messages that the unidentified Q posts on online forums, takes as one of its core tenets that the Trump administration is doing battle with a “deep state” conspiracy of cannibalistic left-wing paedophiles who are determined to remove the president from power.

As a corollary, the prospect of a disputed election result in which the Democrats either claim victory or dispute a Trump win looms large among QAnon followers, many of whom are convinced that Mr Trump and his allies are preparing for a climactic confrontation with their enemies – a violent clash they often refer to as “the storm”.

As with many previous posts, Q’s latest drop frames the current confluence of disastrous phenomena – fires, riots and the coronavirus – as a precursor for what is to come. “Make no mistake,” it reads, “they will not concede on Election Night.

“Make no mistake, they will contest this legally in battleground states.

“Make no mistake, they will project doubt in the election results.

“Make no mistake, they will organise massive riots and attempt Anarchy-99 design

“Playbook known. Q”

The post then links to an interview Mr Carlson conducted on his show yesterday with Darren Beattie, a former White House speechwriter who was fired in 2018 after it transpired he had attended a conference where he shared a panel with outspoken white nationalists.

In the interview, Mr Carlson asked Mr Beattie whether a coup against Mr Trump is in the offing, and specifically whether it bears any resemblance to the “colour revolutions” that sprung up in various post-Soviet states over the last two decades.

“What’s unfolding before our eyes,” said Mr Beattie, “is a very specific type of coup called the Colour Revolution. It’s a regime change model favoured by many in our national security apparatus, particularly against Eastern European countries to overthrow target regimes that they don’t like.”

Describing the difference between a Colour Revolution and a garden-variety military coup, Mr Beattie called the model “a little bit more delicate and subtle”.

“The chief characteristic of it is a combination of an engineered contested election scenario combined with massive mobilised protests, which they call as a term of art ‘peaceful protests’ and ‘acts of civil disobedience’.

He continued: “If that sounds familiar, it gets even better. It’s not only the same strategy and tactics used against Trump that was used against Eastern European dictators that our national security apparatus doesn’t like … It’s the very same people, using the very same playbook.”

Conspiracy theories and false claims about Colour Revolutions and similar incidents are a common feature of Russian disinformation campaigns, particularly as relates to the 2014 Euromaidan uprising in Ukraine, which the Kremlin has often described as a coup covertly organised by nefarious Western forces rather than a grassroots-up popular movement.

As part of his extended monologue, Mr Beattie focused on a particular figure he described as “a nexus point” in the Democrats’ revolutionary conspiracy: Norm Eisen, a former ambassador and White House ethics czar who served as special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during Mr Trump’s impeachment.

Describing him as a “Democrat operative”, Mr Beattie said “he is also a key architect of nearly every effort to censor, sue, impeach and overthrow the president. He is the author, in fact, of a Colour Revolution playbook, literally called “The Playbook”, and one of the items that he calls for in his playbook to overthrow regimes overseas he doesn’t like is engineering election fraud scenarios, using election fraud to engineer mass protests to question the legitimacy of the target leader.”

Mr Beatties’s focus on a supposedly shadowy unelected Democratic “operative” is highly reminiscent of QAnon’s underpinning logic, which pits Mr Trump and his allies against “deep state” operatives with malevolent, even satanic motives that they pursue out of public view.

The playbook that Mr Beattie described is in fact a widely available co-authored Brookings Institution report called “The Democracy Playbook: Preventing and Reversing Democratic Backsliding”. The section on election fraud relates specifically to authoritarian countries with a history of vote-rigging where opposition movements have the chance to plan in advance for what to do when detectable election fraud occurs.

It is in fact Mr Trump alleging vast election fraud and urging his supporters to resist it, whereas Joe Biden and his campaign are urging as many Americans to vote as soon as possible to ensure their ballots are properly counted.

Wray Claims “White Supremacists” Make Up the Largest Share of Racially Motivated Terrorists in the US as BLM Burns Businesses to the Ground

This is outrageous!

FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday said “white supremacists” make up the largest share of racially motivated terrorists in the United States.

Wray made these statements during a testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee.

“Within the domestic terrorism bucket, category as a whole, racially motivated violent extremism is I think the biggest bucket within that large group. And within the racially motivated extremism bucket people prescribing to some kind of white supremacist ideology is certainly the biggest chunk of that,” Wray told radical Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI).

“I don’t have the numbers for you,” Wray said admitting he has no evidence whatsoever to back up his insane claims.

Meanwhile, Black Lives Matter Marxists are burning down buildings, shaking down business, terrorizing white people dining outdoors and threatening white people in their homes.

City Council That Approved Abolishing Police: ‘Where Are the Police?’https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/09/16/city-council-abolish-police-whereare-police/

The Minneapolis city council, which unanimously supported a pledge to abolish the police, is now asking, “Where are the police?”

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) reported that the city council met with Minneapolis’ head of police on Tuesday: “Just months after leading an effort that would have defunded the police department, City Council members at Tuesday’s work session pushed Chief Medaria Arradondo to tell them how the department is responding to the violence.”

Newly elected council member Jamal Osman said, “Residents are asking, ‘Where are the police?’”

Osman added, “That is the only public safety option they have at the moment. MPD. They rely on MPD. And they are saying they are nowhere to be seen.”

Council President Lisa Bender suggested police are intentionally not arresting people. She claimed, “This is not new, but it is very concerning in the current context.”

Arradondo did say over 100 officers have left the department this year, including those who have taken leave, and MPR notes that is “more than double the usual number of officers who either step down from the department or who are inactive each year.”

Fourth Ward council member Phillipe Cunningham expressed surprise that council members who had so recently supported doing away with the police department were now calling on the police to be doing more. He suggested the focus should instead be on using money taken from the police budget to hire “violence interrupters” and put them in place to prevent crime in the first place.

On June 12, 2020, Breitbart News reported that the Minneapolis city council unanimously voted to support a pledge to abolish the police.

‘What a disgrace’: US Attorney General ripped for calling Covid-19 shutdowns ‘greatest intrusion of civil liberties’ since slavery

US Attorney General Bill Barr has made waves by calling stay-at-home orders and lockdowns meant to combat the spread of Covid-19 “the greatest intrusion of civil liberties” other than slavery.

Barr’s comments came while speaking at a Constitution Day event held in DC by Hillsdale College. Asked about coronavirus restrictions “forbidding a church from meeting” in many areas, the attorney general compared lockdowns to “house arrest.”

“Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history,” Barr said.

Once his comments were shared more widely, few found legitimacy in the comparison.

“Bill Barr equates quarantine with chattel slavery as one of the greatest intrusions of civil liberties in American history. Statements like these make you realize many in this country know nothing about what it truly means to be oppressed,” ‘The View’ co-host Sunny Hostin tweeted in reaction to the comment. Another person criticized the remarks by simply saying, "What a disgrace."

“The thing about Bill Barr's comments is that he knows better. Which is what makes them a whole lot worse,” CNN political correspondent Abby D. Pillip added.

“How about WW2 Japanese Internment camps? Jim Crow laws? segregation? Tuskegee Syphilis experiments?” another commenter tweeted, while Star Trek actor George Takei posted: “As someone who spent four years in U.S. internment camps during World War II, I think Bill Barr is full of horse manure.”

Barr’s comments also angered lockdown supporters, but he earned a round of applause at the DC event after making them.

Some conservatives, many of whom have been critical of local governments’ response to the pandemic, also showed support for Barr amidst a pushback against his coronavirus comments and other actions as attorney general.

Since there was never any national lockdown in place, but rather various stay-at-home orders and business shutdown mandates - which still continue in certain areas in most states - Barr chided governors for acting like “bureaucrats” and treating “free citizens as babies that can’t take responsibility for themselves and others.”

Barr argued that people, especially business owners, should have been given the opportunity to remain working and issued “rules” to follow, such as the current mask mandates in place in a variety of states.

FBI Director Christopher Wray Says Russia Currently Meddling in Election to ‘Denigrate Joe Biden’

FBI Director Christopher Wray said on Thursday that Russia is currently meddling in the election to “denigrate Vice President Joe Biden.”

Wray made these statements during a testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee.

The House Committee convened a hearing on ‘threats to the homeland’ with various security and intel officials however, several were a no-show.

DNI chief Ratcliffe opted to have face-to-face meetings with select lawmakers rather than appear before the Committee.

Wray encouraged Americans to get their voting information from official websites, not social media.

“We’ve certainly seen very active, very active efforts by the Russians to influence our elections in 2020….social media, use of proxies, state media, online journals, etc,” Wray said. “In effort to both sow divisiveness and discord…and to primarily denigrate Vice President Biden.”

Auberry family says Harris and Newsom trespassed in damaged home for photo op

An Auberry family says California Governor Gavin Newsom and vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris trespassed during their tour of Creek Fire damage.

On Tuesday, Newsom and Harris arrived in Fresno County to survey areas that suffered major damage due to fire.

During the trip, Harris and Newsom were briefed by Cal Fire and U.S. Forest Service officials about the challenges they've faced with this fire.

Newsom and Harris stopped by Pine Ridge Elementary in Auberry, before going across the street to look around a burned down home.

Senator Harris commented that many residential areas had been badly impacted.

"The fire just swept through. So everything is gone except the chimney. Those chimneys, they remind me - when you look at a neighborhood that's been wiped out, those chimneys remind me of tombstones."

In several Facebook posts shared since then, the homeowner's family says neither Harris or Newsom had the right to be on their property.

Trampas Patten says that he is the son of the homeowners and thinks the home was merely used for a photo op.

"What has me really frustrated right now is the fact that these two politicians used my parents loss for a photo opportunity to push their political agenda! Political party wouldn’t have made a difference in this moment. Decent human beings that have character and class, wouldn’t air someone else’s misfortune on national television!" Trampas wrote in a Facebook post.

He says that his parents never gave permission for Harris or Newsom to enter their property.

His sister, Bailee Patten, adds that her family hasn't even had to opportunity to visit the home themselves.

"When we saw those photos, it was - there aren't words, because it's like, we haven't even seen our house. We haven't seen our property. There is no house, we haven't even seen our property."

The home on Auberry Road is still under an evacuation order, so the owners have not been able to check up on their property themselves yet.

"This isn't just devastation, this is our lives. This is where we grew up, these are our memories. And to not have that - to feel so helpless - and I guess that's what we've all been thinking, is that we were so helpless. Because we weren't there, we haven't gotten to deal with our loss. Instead, we're having to watch it play out on social media and news."

Senator Harris told reporters filming her around the property, "These are the stories behind these fires."

She continued, "The people who are victimized by these, they could care less - and their children could care less - who they voted for in the last election."

Patten says that community should not be classified as victims.

"We're survivors. We're gonna get through this, but the whole community has lost. And to just take a picture of one loss, it's not enough."

She says that neither Newsom or Harris have reached out to see if the family needs any help.

"Do you want this kind of leadership, using you and your loss for political gain?!" Trampas Patten asked in his post.

"What you did do is take my families loss and parade it all over social media and news networks to push your agenda," Bailee Patten wrote on Facebook.

FOX26 News has reached out to the Communications teams for both Governor Newsom and Senator Harris.

We haven't heard back from Governor Newsom.

Senator Harris's Communications Director, when asked for a statement, told FOX26 News Reporter Marie Edinger over the phone, "I'm not going to have anything about that," and declined to comment further.

Mike Ditka Tells NFL Players: "If You Can't Respect This Country, Get The Hell Out Of It"

It was just days ago that we noted the NFL's ratings for Sunday Night Football this past week tanked significantly. We noted that this year's NFL season seems to be more about social justice and Covid precautions instead of; well, playing football.

It appears that legendary coach Mike Ditka agrees. Ditka appeared on Newsmax this week to talk about the state of the NFL, offering up a scathing critique of how he believes that the league has lost its way.

Ditka told the host: "Football’s football. It’s not a complicated thing. You’re playing the game, you’re enjoying the game. You don’t like the game, get out of it. It’s not for protesting one way or the other. What color you are, what you think, this or that. You play football. That’s it."

He continued: "You’re privileged. You got a gift from God that you can play the game because you got a body you can do it with. I don’t really understand what you’re protesting. I played the game. I coached the game for a long time. It makes no sense to me."

TikTok, Oracle Reportedly Agree To New Treasury-Approved Deal Terms

Update (1130ET): In yet another fundamentally meaningless report on negotiations between ByteDance, its investors, Oracle, Wal-Mart and the Trump Administration, Bloomberg reports that TikTok and Oracle have both "accepted" a new "term shee" that "addresses national security concerns."

The Treasury Department, TikTok owner Bytedance Ltd. and Oracle Corp. have tentatively agreed to terms for Oracle’s bid for the U.S. operations of the social-media service, according to people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg News reports.

Treasury sent Bytedance a revised terms sheet late Wednesday and the company and Oracle accepted it, the people said. They described the changes as addressing national security concerns about the transaction and asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Earlier, ByteDance said the deal wouldn't involve selling or turning over any of its key technology to Oracle or the US. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin is said to be pulling for the deal, though President Trump is presently being persuaded by the China hawks in his administration.

We wonder: will the deal include an agreement to pay some kind of dividend to the Treasury, as Trump once complained about wanting to do.

* * *

With a presidential briefing scheduled for Thursday, President Trump is expected to make his final decision on the deal to spin off TikTok into an independent US-based company within 24-36 hours, which would leave another 36 hours of 'wiggle room' before the Sept. 20 deadline set by the administration - a deadline that Trump has insisted on keeping.

Tech sell-off hits Wall Street as jobless claims remain high

Wall Street's main indexes fell on Thursday after data showed high levels of weekly jobless claims, while technology-related stocks resumed their slide with Apple Inc and Amazon Inc among the biggest drags on the Nasdaq. Nine out of the 11 major S&P 500 sector indexes were lower, with technology stocks leading sectoral declines. The Nasdaq .IXIC, which entered correction territory earlier this month, slipped another 1% with Facebook Inc , Apple, Amazon, Tesla Inc, Microsoft Corp, Alphabet Inc and Netflix Inc together losing $150 billion in market capitalization in the first half hour of trading.

Bank stocks slipped 1.1%, while the S&P 500 financials index fell 0.8%, a day after the Federal Reserve pledged to keep interest rates low for a prolonged period to lift the world’s biggest economy out of a pandemic-induced recession. But with Fed Chair Jerome Powell indicating a long road to “maximum employment”, stock markets were disappointed by the lack of firmer details around the central bank’s stimulus plan. Adding to concerns around a stalling recovery, the Labor Department’s report showed the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week, but remained perched at extremely high levels.

Mexican president dismisses US govt report on illicit drugs as ‘opinion’

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has dismissed Washington’s new report on illicit drugs that names his country as the main supplier of heroin and methamphetamine to the US, calling it merely an “opinion.”

“It is an opinion, basically,” Lopez Obrador said at a news conference on Thursday. “It has good things, and other things that we don’t accept.” He did not elaborate on what exactly he does not agree with, but added that his country has “very good relations” with the US and dismissed any possibility of a “political confrontation.”

The remarks came after the White House released a new presidential determination on illicit drug production and trafficking. The document named 22 countries located primarily in South and Central America, as well as certain Asian nations, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

While in the document, Trump lauded Mexico for showing “signs of progress” in battling the illegal drug trade – for example, passing “asset forfeiture reforms” and showing an increase in “extraditions of dangerous drug traffickers” to the US – he still urged the country to do more.

“Mexico remains the source of nearly all heroin and methamphetamine seized in the United States, and a transit route for most of the cocaine available in our country,” the memorandum stated.

The country also remains the major trafficking hub for other drugs, including cocaine, and cartels operating on its soil are also involved in the production and smuggling of fentanyl – an extremely potent opioid responsible for many drug overdose deaths across the US, Trump stated.

“The United States remains ready to deepen its partnership with Mexico to address these shared challenges and welcomes the opportunity to develop joint drug control goals with Mexico and bilateral investigations built on transparent and open sharing of investigative information and evidence leading to successful prosecutions,” the US president said in the statement.

Cop Fired for Cowering in Fear as Gunman Slaughtered Children Gets Rehired, with Full Back Pay

Parkland, FL — A sheriff’s deputy who was fired after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting for cowering by his car while Nicolas Cruz slaughtered children inside, is back on the job — and likely receiving six figures of back pay.

According to the Sun Sentinel, an arbitrator ruled this week that Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony acted 13 days too late when he fired deputy Josh Stambaugh last year for his conduct during the February 2018 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

State law says discipline against law enforcement officers must occur within 180 days of an investigation’s completion but apparently that didn’t happen. It is unknown exactly how much Stambaugh will receive in back pay, but he earned more than $150,000 in 2018, including overtime.

According to a report out of ABC, a state investigative commission found that Stambaugh was working an off-duty shift at a nearby school when he responded to reports of shots fired at Stoneman Douglas. He got out of his truck, put on his bulletproof vest and took cover for about five minutes after hearing the shots, according to body camera footage. Stambaugh then drove to a nearby highway instead of going toward the school.

Despite clearly neglecting his duties — to the point of costing children their lives — this coward cop will receive a large sum of back bay and his badge.

“Once again, an arbitrator with no connection or association with Broward County has made a flawed decision to reinstate a deputy who was terminated for his response to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Naturally, the police union applauded the decision to rehire the deputy and decried the sheriff’s decision to fire them.

Jeff Bell, president of the Broward patrol deputies union said that firing Stambaugh after the deadline was “a waste of taxpayer money on cases where the agency knows it violated Florida State Statutes.”

While this may be shocking, Stambaugh is the second cop to be reinstated after being fired for being a coward doing the shooting.

Sgt. Brian Miller was fired 16 months after the shooting. After former sheriff Scott Isreal refused to fire the cop, his replacement, Tony, fired Miller and then deputies Stambaugh and Edward Eason a few weeks later.

As the Sentinal reported at the time:

Miller was the first supervisor on the scene. He arrived in time to hear three or four shots. As a supervisor, he didn’t rush to take command. Instead, a state commission investigating the shooting found that Miller took his time putting on a bulletproof vest and hid behind his car on Holmberg Road, not going on the radio for 10 minutes.

“Miller failed to coordinate or direct deputies’ actions and did not direct or coordinate an immediate response into the school,” a report from a commission said. “Sergeant Miller’s actions were ineffective and he did not properly supervise the scene.”

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, a member of the commission, called Miller “an absolute, total failure.”

Now, this absolute, total failure is back on the streets along with his other total failure fellow cop, ready to cower behind a car the next time he faces an actual threat.

FBI Director Wray: 'Antifa is a real thing,' FBI has cases against people identifying with movement

FBI Director Chris Wray made clear that Antifa is not a made-up, right-wing conspiracy theory and that the FBI has cases involving those connected to it.

Appearing at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing Thursday, Wray explained that while Antifa is not an organization in the traditional sense, it is a movement and there have been suspects who claimed to be a part of it.

"Antifa is a real thing. It's not a group or an organization. It's a movement, or an ideology may be one way of thinking of it," Wray said. "And we have quite a number and I've said this quite consistently since my first time appearing before this committee we have any number of properly predicated investigations into what we would describe as violent anarchist extremists and some of those individuals self-identify with Antifa."

Wray's words were in response to Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., who claimed prominent Democrats have called Antifa a "fantasy." In July, Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., had dismissed the idea of Antifa violence in Portland as "a myth that's being spread only in Washington, D.C."

Later in the hearing, Rep. Donald Payne, D-N.J., asked for clarification about the nature of Antifa, and Wray explained further.

"Antifa is a real thing. It’s not a fiction," Wray reiterated." But it is — it’s not an organization or a structure." He again described it as more of a "movement" but again noted that there have been those who self-identify as being a part of it.

"They say 'I am Antifa,'" Wray stated.

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday sent a to letter Nadler, the committee's chair, criticizing him for launching “fruitless partisan investigations” into President Trump while ignoring the threat of Antifa.

The letter called on Nadler to denounce “left-wing violent extremism” and convene a hearing to investigate the unrest engulfing a number of cities across the country.

While Nadler and other Democrats have remained relatively quiet on Antifa, the party’s presidential nominee, Joe Biden, has condemned the movement.

Speaking to a local news station in Pennsylvania last week, Biden said he is against all violence.

"I've condemned it across the board," Biden told Pennsylvania's WGAL News 8 in an interview Monday, referring to violence during protests.

"Do you condemn Antifa?" reporter Barbara Barr asked Biden.

"Yes, I do, violence no matter who it is," he replied.

Gas pipeline explosion creates giant bright ball of flame near roadway in Oklahoma

Police and firefighters were deployed to tackle a major fire produced by a gas pipeline blast near the town of Piedmont, Oklahoma. The blaze is so intense that crews are forced to work in shifts to tackle it.

A 12-inch pipeline blew up, leaving a major crater across the roadway, local media reported.

Videos circulating on social media show a bright massive blaze raging alongside a country road.

Aerial footage also shows the pipeline in flames, with thick clouds of smoke rising in the sky, as fire crews were dispatched at the site.

According to reports, the pipeline has been shut down, but the explosion caused grass fires.

Authorities have closed several roads in the area. Local media also said that the heat from the fire is so intense that emergency crews are forced to rotate.

Donald Trump: States Sending Unsolicited Ballots Should ‘Give It Up NOW’

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that states sending unsolicited mail-in ballots should end the process to prevent a delay in election results.

“The big Unsolicited Ballot States should give it up NOW, before it is too late, and ask people to go to the Polling Booths and, like always before, VOTE,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Otherwise, MAYHEM!!!”

The president clarified, however, that solicited absentee ballots are fine.

California, D.C., Nevada, New Jersey, and Vermont have adopted a system of unsolicited ballots in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, and Washington already had existing systems to send registered voters their ballots, without voters needing to request them.

All of the states sending unsolicited ballots in 2020 went for failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016. Only Colorado and Nevada remain battleground states, as Trump lost Nevada by two points and Colorado by five points in 2016.

But Trump warned that the November 3 election results might never be accurate, thanks to an increase of unsolicited ballots.

“Because of the new and unprecedented massive amount of unsolicited ballots which will be sent to ‘voters,’ or wherever, this year, the Nov 3rd Election result may NEVER BE ACCURATELY DETERMINED, which is what some want,” Trump wrote. “Another election disaster yesterday. Stop Ballot Madness!”

Man Identified As ICE Doctor Behind Hysterectomies Previously Settled Medicare, Medicaid Fraud Case With Feds

Dr. Mahendra Amin has been accused of giving unnecessary hysterectomies to women detained at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Georgia, according to a complaint.

Amin and other doctors who worked at a Georgia hospital he part-owned agreed to a $520,000 settlement with federal prosecutors in 2015 after he had been charged with Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

The hospital allegedly instituted a system in which patients were given unnecessary procedures in order to bolster federal Medicare and Medicaid checks to the hospital.

The man who has been identified as the doctor who allegedly gave unnecessary hysterectomies to women detained at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility settled a Medicare, Medicaid federal lawsuit years ago.

Dr. Mahendra Amin, who is himself an immigrant, according to Prism Reports, agreed to a $520,000 settlement with federal prosecutors in 2015 regarding an indictment filed in 2013. Amin had been accused of orchestrating a scheme at Irwin County Hospital (ICH) in Georgia, which he was a part-owner of, in which unnecessary procedures were administered on patients to bolster federal Medicare and Medicaid payments to the hospital, according to the indictment.

“One important mission of this office’s Civil Division is to ensure that when taxpayer money is paid out under federal health care programs, it is paid out in a manner that complies with federal healthcare laws,” said former U.S. Attorney Michael J. Moore in a statement following the settlement.

Amin allegedly instituted a standing order that required nurses to perform ultrasounds on pregnant patients at ICH regardless of their symptoms, without consulting any doctor and without any medical evaluation, the indictment said. However, a memo sent to hospital staff stated if an ultrasound wasn’t covered by Medicaid, then medical evaluation was required, according to the indictment.

UK govt places nearly 2 million people in North East England under lockdown restrictions, imposes curfew & ban on visits

Local lockdown restrictions are being introduced in parts of North East England to curb the spread of coronavirus following “concerning rates of infection,” Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Thursday.

Nearly two million people in the northeast of the country are facing fresh restrictions as coronavirus cases in the region increase. Speaking in the Commons, Hancock said that from tomorrow, in Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham, residents “should not socialize with other people outside their own households or support bubble.”

Hospitality for food and drink will be restricted to table service only. Leisure and entertainment venues must close between 10pm and 5am.

According to Hancock, council leaders in the North East had written to him urging that tighter restrictions were put in place.

Edward Argar, a minister in the Department of Health and Social Care, said earlier on Thursday that “a spike in infections” was recorded in the North East, and “it is exactly what we have seen in the North West.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday a second coronavirus lockdown in the whole country would be “disastrous” for the British economy. A spokesman for Johnson, when asked whether a curfew might be brought in, said on Thursday that Britain does not plan any additional restrictions for London at the moment. However, people should abide by the new “rule of six,” he added.

New laws prohibiting social gatherings of more than six people came into effect on Monday as the government called on the public to remain vigilant during the coronavirus pandemic.

Argar also said on Thursday that nationwide measures to control the spread of coronavirus in Britain are not currently needed. The government was sticking with its plan for local lockdowns for now, Argar added.

Doug Collins Asks FCC to Bar Netflix’s ‘Cuties’ from Future Broadcast on Public Channels

In an escalation in the battle over Netflix’s Cuties, Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) is asking the Federal Communications Commission to prohibit any future broadcast of the underage twerking movie on public television channels, saying in a letter, sent exclusively to Breitbart News, that the movie meets the standard of “obscene material” and therefore would not be protected by the First Amendment.

Collins said in a letter Thursday to FCC chairman Ajit Pai that the commission should “use its authority to ensure that Cuties is never broadcast on public television channels in the United States.” The letter describes the movie as “disgusting” and “inappropriate,” adding that it “will only serve to please pedophiles.”

Cuties, which Netflix released on its digital streaming platform earlier this month, tells the story of an 11-year-old French girl who joins a tween twerking troupe as a way to escape her oppressive Senegalese-Muslim family. The movie features an extended sequence in which the underage girls engage in erotic dance moves and simulated sexual behavior.

Rep. Collins is arguing that Cuties meets the “Miller” test for obscene material, which means it would not be protected by free speech laws. The U.S. Supreme Court established the Miller standard in the 1973 case Miller v. California to determine if material qualifies as obscene and can thus be barred from public viewing.

The congressman is also arguing that the FCC has the power to ban Cuties from airwaves even if it doesn’t meet the obscenity test because the 1978 ruling FCC v. Pacifica Foundation allows the commission to regulate a broadcast that is “indecent.”

Since its release, Cuties has drawn increasing Congressional scrutiny, with members of Congress urging the Department of Justice open a criminal inquiry into Netflix’s decision to distribute the French movie.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has accused Netflix of “peddling child pornography.” Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) called the movie “child porn,” insisting that the film will “whet the appetite of pedophiles & help fuel the child sex trafficking trade.”

Netflix, which has defended the movie as “social commentary” against the sexualization of children, acquired Cuties in January after it screened at the Sundance Film Festival. The company is believed to have the exclusive digital streaming rights to the movie in the U.S., but it remains unclear for how long and if the agreement prevents networks from broadcasting the movie at some point in the future.

Barack and Michelle Obama, who have a production deal with Netflix, has so far remained silent about the Cuties controversy, as has former Obama national security advisor Susan Rice, who sits on Netflix’s board of directors.

Netflix previously apologized for its marketing campaign for Cuties, which featured a trailer and movie poster that spotlighted the erotic dance sequence featuring young girls.

Top Scottish law adviser resigns from UK’s government amid Brexit's legal turmoil

Advocate General for Scotland Richard Keen has resigned from British government amid the ongoing row over PM Boris Johnson’s Brexit plans that could breach international laws and the EU divorce treaty.

The resignation followed reports by British media that Keen had found it increasingly difficult to reconcile with Johnson’s plan to ‘tweak’ the Brexit deal with a new law.

“Lord Keen has resigned as Advocate General for Scotland. The Prime Minister thanks him for his service,” the Downing Street said in a statement on Wednesday.

The controversial legislation, known as the Internal Market Bill was unveiled last week, with the top UK officials admitting that it could violate the international laws in a “limited” way. The revelation sparked a major international scandal, with the EU, Ireland and other players rushing to condemn London’s move. Brussels demanded Johnson to scrap the bill, warning it might jeopardize the talks on future trade arrangements between the bloc and the UK.

“With every day that passes, the chances of a timely agreement do start to fade,” she warned in a speech to the European Parliament. The divorce agreement “cannot be unilaterally changed, disregarded or dis-applied,” President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday. “This is a matter of law, trust and good faith… Trust is the foundation of any strong partnership.”

Britain remains a part of the EU’s single market during the post-Brexit transition period set to end at the end of this year, and the ongoing scandal increases the risks of the whole deal with the EU falling apart. Still, Johnson refused to shelve the legislation.

“This bill is intended to uphold the economic, the political, territorial integrity of the UK,” Johnson told parliament. Earlier, he said the legislation was needed to counter “absurd” threats from Brussels that emerge during the trade talks.

Former UK Conservative Leader to Biden: Stay Out of Brexit, Worry About ‘Killing and Rioting’ in USA

British Conservative politicians including a former party leader have told Joe Biden to stop “lecturing” Britain on Brexit and worry about stopping the “killing and rioting” in the U.S.

77-year-old Biden has waded into the acrimonious negotiations between the British and the European Union on the side of the EU, warning that, if elected, he will block a British-American trade deal if the British government does not submit to the EU’s demands with respect to Northern Ireland.

The globalist bloc is allegedly threatening to use the powers which it will retain over the British province of Northern Ireland in the event the EU and UK do not agree a trade deal to block food from being imported from the British mainland.

The British government had agreed that Northern Ireland would continue following EU regulations and state aid rules in the event of a ‘No Deal’ situation in order to maintain the open border with the EU member-state of Northern Ireland, but is now pushing forward legislation to disapply parts of this agreement if the EU interprets them in an “abusive” and “extreme” way.

The EU is enraged by this supposed breach of international law, and Biden appears to have taken its side, warning that he would punish Britain — but not the EU — if a so-called “hard” regulatory border between the two Irelands was created.

We can see that Biden would be an anti-British US President. Wake up everyone. https://t.co/rxk3z3V1Wh

— Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) September 17, 2020

British Conservative MPs are firing back at the elderly presidential candidate, however, with former party leader and Cabinet member Sir Iain Duncan Smith being particularly combative.

“We don’t need lectures on the Northern Ireland peace deal from Mr Biden,” Sir Iain told The Times.

“If I were him I would worry more about the need for a peace deal in the USA to stop the killing and rioting before lecturing other sovereign nations,” he added.

David Davis MP, a former leadership contender and the inaugural Secretary of State for Brexit, suggested that Biden’s intervention was hypocritical, saying: “Perhaps Mr Biden should talk to the EU since the only threat of an invisible border in Ireland would be if they insisted on levying tariffs.”

Another MP, Joy Morrissey, was more even more straightforward, saying the Democrat’s interference was “clearly all about the Irish-American vote”.

We don’t need lectures on the Northern Ireland peace deal from presidential candidate @JoeBiden. If I were him I would worry more about the need for a peace deal in the USA to tackle the killing and rioting before lecturing other sovereign nations…https://t.co/n22YQ3blwh

— Iain Duncan Smith MP (@MPIainDS) September 17, 2020

Biden’s implicit demand that the British submit to EU demands on trade and regulations in order to preserve the open border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland was ostensibly in aid of the Good Friday or Belfast Agreement.

Second UK Military Migrant Camp Set to Open in Wales, as Migrant Crisis Grows

The British government is “actively” considering opening a second migrant camp to house some 250 alleged asylum seekers in Wales, as the illegal boat migration crisis in the UK deepens.

Following the revelation that the Home Office has taken over a former army barracks in Kent to hold some 450 migrants, the Welsh Secretary of State and the MP for South Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen West, Simon Hart, confirmed that the government is considering opening a second camp in a Ministry of Defence facility the small Welsh village of Penally just outside of Tenby.

Mr Hart claimed that the proposed migrant camp would have “minimal impact” on the community, according to Wales Online.

“I have now spoken to the Home Secretary, who is exploring (with a range of partners and Government departments) opportunities for further Covid-19 compliant accommodation for those seeking asylum,” Hart said.

“Following the submission of a request, the Ministry of Defence have commenced scoping options across the UK. One of the sites under active consideration is Penally Training Camp,” he confirmed.

The number of illegal boat migrants recorded to have arrived in September has already set a monthly record, with 1,487 making the journey across the English Channel from France, according to The Telegraph. The record waves of migrants for this month are set to surpass the total number recorded in the whole year of 2019, which was 1,890.

Hundreds of residents in Penally disagreed with Simon Hart’s claims that the facility will have “minimal impact” on their community. Over 200 members of a group called the ‘Penally Camp Protest’ gathered outside the proposed migrant camp on Tuesday. The group has over 2,200 members on Facebook.

A spokesman for the group, Darren Edmundson, told the Western Telegraph that the group is “concerned for the safety of our family and our children, as we don’t know the background of the asylum seekers”.

“It has been confirmed that (it) is just 250 men. Why not women and children as well?” he questioned.

“We wanted to know the facts etc. It was so disappointing to not see the council or any MPs turn up to answer any questions,” he said, adding: “Simon Hart should have been there.”

Mr Edmundson said that they feel the facility would be better suited to help the local homeless people, saying: “We feel that the camp should have been used to benefit the community.”

Australian airline Qantas' 'flight to nowhere' sells out in 10 minutes

'It’s probably the fastest selling flight in Qantas history,' a spokeswoman said

Australian air carrier Qantas announced that a seven-hour scenic "flight to nowhere," which will take off and land at the same airport amid interstate travel restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic, sold out in 10 minutes, according to a report.

The unusual flight is scheduled to depart from Sydney on Oct. 10 and return on the same day, making absolutely no stops while promising passengers low-level scenic views over Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef, among other spots.

Buyers quickly snatched up the 134 available seats, priced between $575 and $2,765 depending on the seating class, a Qantas spokeswoman told Reuters. Passengers are set to travel on a wide-body Boeing 787, normally used for long-distance international travel.

98 airmen have died by suicide so far in 2020, Air Force chief says

Ninety-eight airmen have died by suicide so far in 2020, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles “CQ” Brown Jr. told reporters on Wednesday, with the service on pace to meet the record which last year prompted the branch to take a tactical pause to address the problem.

“We’ve got work ahead, i’ll just be honest with you,” Brown said. “We’ve made some progress, because the stressors are much different [this year], but there’s still more work to be done.”

The new tally clarifies comments Brown made three weeks earlier about how the Air Force is “on a path to be as bad" as 2019 in terms of suicide losses.

Briefing slides leaked to the popular Facebook page Air Force amn/nco/snco in February showed that 137 airmen and Air Force civilians died by suicide in 2019, a 33 percent increase over the previous year.

The general said isolation due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) may play a role in 2020’s high numbers.

“The stressors that we have are much different than the stressors we had last year,” he said. “We don’t have a chance for our airmen to connect and be close to the folks that they work with on a day to day basis."

China Poses "The Greatest Threat To World Order": UK Military Intel Chief

The Chinese regime “poses the greatest threat to world order,” Britain’s Chief of Defence Intelligence told British media this week.

Lt. Gen. Jim Hockenhull, speaking at the first media briefing at the UK’s Defence Intelligence hub based at the Royal Air Force base in Wyton, Cambridgeshire, discussed how “global players such as Russia and China continually challenge the existing order without prompting direct conflict, operating in the expanding grey-zone between war and peacetime,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

While Hockenhull saw Russia as posing “the greatest military and geopolitical threat to European security,” he reserved the starkest warning for China’s communist regime, The Telegraph reported.

China is “increasingly authoritarian and assertive,” he said. “It poses the greatest threat to world order, seeking to impose Chinese standards and norms and using its economic power to influence and subvert, backed up by massive investment in modernizing its armed forces.”

According to The Sun, Hockenhull said that Beijing had accelerated its modernization of the military since Xi Jinping came to power in 2013.

The Chinese military now boasts “an array of leading-edge weapons systems that are fast eroding Western military advantages,” he said, according to The Sun, adding, “Its growing fleet of Renhai-class destroyers are the most capable of any navy.”

The shifting global picture has changed the character of warfare in ways that will challenge the West to keep pace with adversaries who do not play by the rules, Hockenhull said, according to the Ministry of Defence.

He warned that conflict is bleeding into new domains such as cyber and space, threatening Britain’s cohesion, resilience, and global interests.

“Whilst conventional threats remain, we have seen our adversaries invest in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and other ground-breaking technologies, whilst also supercharging more traditional techniques of influence and leverage,” he said.

Earlier this month, eBay (EBAY) -Get Report announced the resignation of two prominent directors, including including its founder, Pierre Omidyar.

Omidyar, the billionaire founder of eBay, will be stepping down from the board after nearly 25 years. After launching eBay from his living room, he developed it into a company currently worth $37b. Omidyar will transition into the role of director emeritus, allowing him to attend meetings if invited, but giving his voice no official consideration. In the next stage of his life, Omidyar plans to focus on his passion for philanthropy.
