The Techniques of Communism: INVADING EDUCATION

IN UNDERMINING a nation such as the United States, the infiltration of the educational process is of prime importance. The Communists have accordingly made the invasion of schools and colleges one of the major considerations in their psychological warfare designed to control the American mind. By such "cultural" work, the Soviet fifth column obtains an influence, directly or indirectly, over at least a portion of American youth. Some of the young men entering our armed forces, and some of the young women who must support them, are brought within the orbit of pro-Communist thinking, to the detriment of our national security. Future community leaders are also affected. Many by-products beneficial to the conspiracy arise from this infiltration, since concealed Communists in education or their friends become sponsors of Communist fronts, aid in financing Communist causes, and sometimes play a part in influencing the attitudes of certain scientists, specific church circles, and government agencies.

As early as 1924, in lectures delivered at the Sverdlov University in Moscow, Stalin specified "cultural and educational organizations" as valuable allies in the Communist battle for world dictatorship. These Stalin lectures are now the famous Foundations of Leninism, published and studied widely by the Communists. It was in 1933, however, that extensive infiltration began in the schools and colleges of this country-encouraged by American recognition of Soviet Russia, and stimulated by the Open Letter to the Party. The Trojan horse policy of the People's Front, which had been initiated at the Seventh World Congress of the Communist International in 1935, gave added impetus to this activity. By May, 1937, the conspiracy considered that enough progress had been made in the schools and colleges to justify a special article of directives in that month's issue of The Communist, then the official theoretical organ of the Party. This article, "The Schools and the People's Front," laid it down as a necessity that "Marxist-Leninist analysis must be injected into every class." In order that this might be accomplished successfully, "the Party must take careful steps to see that all teacher comrades are given thorough education in the teachings of Marxism-Leninism." It was stressed that "Communist teachers are faced with a tremendous social responsibility." They must affect the children's thinking, and they must mobilize other teachers. But all of this was to be done from the work in the classroom to the agitation among other teachers—"without exposing themselves." (Italics mine).

This is the instruction which runs through all directives to the infiltrators of our schools and colleges: they must exercise their Communist influence "without exposing themselves." In this very article of May, 1937, an added precaution is given "Only when teachers have really mastered Marxism-Leninism will they be able to inject it into their teaching at the least risk of exposure."

The article by John Williamson in the November, 1950, issue of Political Affairs, dealing with general infiltration but referring specifically to trade union work, makes much of the same necessity. The Red infiltrators are there counseled to perform their task in such a way as not to be "exposed" and dislodged from their positions.

This method must be thoroughly understood. If it is not constantly kept in mind, the Red techniques of entering education and influencing its course will be completely missed. Those who contend that Communists should be permitted to teach in our schools "as long as they do not teach Communism openly in the classroom" have not acquainted themselves with the ABC of Red infiltration. And yet, the late Senator Robert A. Taft of Ohio, who represented a considerable section of conservative opinion, has made this grave error.

Other transmission belts used by the conspiracy include PTA speakers, assembly programs for children, career conferences for students, in-service workshop courses for teachers, and adult school lecturers.

The Scarsdale story illustrates what has happened in a great number of other communities. Scarsdale is one of the wealthiest suburbs in the United States; when we understand the materialistic philosophy of Communism, we can comprehend that this would be one of the fruitful centers of Red infiltration. The Communists laid plans as early as 1944 to invade Scarsdale and the other conservative precincts of Westchester County, New York. Lecturers and program directors brought into the school system there included Dr. Bernard F. Riess of Hunter College, whose pro-Communist record filled pages of Congressional hearings, and Dr. Bert Loewenberg of Sarah Lawrence College, sponsor and panel speaker at the notorious Waldorf-Astoria "peace" conference. Among the entertainers and speakers brought into Scarsdale, either to perform before the school children or to speak at PTA meetings and other community organization affairs, were: Paul Draper, the dancer, member of fifteen Communist fronts; Lisa Sergio, also with a Communist front record; Pearl Primus, who was built up as a dancer by the Communists; and Louis Dolivet, notorious Stalinist agent. Even to this day, the school board defends the exposure of the children's minds to these pro-Communist influences. The Town Club education committee, composed of business executives, whitewashed the scandalous conditions in the Scarsdale schools in a report published in the spring of 1953. At the very time when the Town Club education committee was preparing its report, Professor Irving Goldman of Sarah Lawrence College was appearing before the Senate Internal Sub-Committee, where it was brought out that he has been a member of the Communist Party and of Red cells at Columbia University and Brooklyn College. He knew individuals who have been exposed as espionage agents for Soviet Russia. But the Town Club report ignores Goldman's record, although he was one of the lecturers at the off-campus courses for Scarsdale teachers. (Address of Otto E. Dohrenwend, chairman of the Scarsdale Citizens Committee, before the Larchmont Knights of Columbus; printed in the Brooklyn Tablet, June 20, 1953).

In the colleges, much of the same picture appears in too many instances. At Princeton University, Professor H. Hubert Wilson is conspicuous in defending subversives in education and in supporting fronts. When the Communists organized the Emergency Civil Liberties Committee, Professor Wilson became associated with it. More than that, when an anti-Communist organization, the American Committee for Cultural Freedom, called his attention to the character of this front, he replied with a sneer. Professor Wilson became one of the speakers at the conference held at Carnegie Hall on January 30, 1953, which took up the cudgels in defense of the subversives. This is not surprising, since Professor Wilson was one of the prominent contributors to the smear-America issue of The Nation—in 1952. (Counterattack, vol. VII, no. 4, Jan. 23, 1953).

Corliss Lamont, most consistent of pro-Soviet propagandists, teaches philosophy at Columbia University, and his works on that subject are used in other colleges. Lamont has been named as a Communist before Congressional committees, and was for years head of the leading Communist front first known as the Friends of Soviet Russia and then as the National Council for American-Soviet Friendship. He has been on more Communist fronts than any other member of the academic profession. Frederick L. Schuman of Williams College is lauded as an expert in international affairs, although his record (which has been given) shows that his works have been written in collaboration with the Soviet foreign office, and that one of them was published by the Communist Party itself, designed to show that the United States is "mad" in defending itself. The much-touted work by Sydney and Beatrice Webb on Soviet "civilization" has received an almost reverential attention in many colleges and universities, although it is now known that vital sections of it were prepared by the Soviet secret police.

Does anyone really believe America is still the land of the free?

What first seemed like a gradual slide in the federal government's use of biometrics is quickly becoming supercharged in a post-pandemic world.

Readers may recall since 9/11, DHS, the FBI, the CIA, and other alphabet soup agencies have transformed America into a surveillance state that could be on par with China in the coming years.

Activity in DNA and biometric-gathering by the federal government is set to surge. The DHS recently announced a "notice of proposed rulemaking" that outlines the agency could enlarge its collection of biometrics data by at least 2 million submissions annually.

The 328-page draft of the new rule (found here) proposes to amend existing DHS regulations "concerning the use and collection of biometrics in the enforcement and administration of immigration laws by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)."

The National Law Review highlights the key points in the forthcoming rule:

Unless waived by DHS, any applicant, petitioner, sponsor, beneficiary, or individual filing or associated with an immigration benefit or request, including U.S. citizens, must appear for biometrics collection – regardless of age.

There will be new biometrics modalities, including iris scans, palm prints, and voiceprints.

DHS may require DNA results to prove the existence of a claimed genetic relationship.

Foreign nationals who are granted immigration benefits will be subject to continued and subsequent vetting and biometric evaluation until granted U.S. citizenship.

New forms will be produced, including the new biometrics requirements.

A former member of the National Security Council told The Kyle Olson Show that Iran prefers to have Joe Biden in the White House next year.

“The Iranian regime would prefer to deal with a Biden administration,” Ambassador Robert Joseph, who served at the NSC as Senior Director for Proliferation Strategy, Counterproliferation, and Homeland Defense during the George W. Bush administration, said.

“The experiences are starkly different,” he said of dealing with Trump versus the Barack Obama-Joe Biden administration.

“The Trump administration has, for the last 3 1/2 years, under the policy of maximum pressure, has been placing very punishing economic sanctions on the regime,” Joseph said.

The Trump administration has supported Gulf allies that have been targets of Iran, he argued.

Joseph said Trump has spoken out against “gross human rights violations” by the mullahs, and the administration “has been willing to stand up to Iranian provocations,” including the killing of Gen. Qasem Soleimani in January in Iraq.

He said the Obama-Biden administration “pursued appeasement in the hopes that the regime would become more moderate.”

“A false hope that various administrations have chased for decades,” Joseph said.

He told The Kyle Olson Show that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — the so-called Iran nuclear deal — was the “crown jewel” of the Obama-Biden administration’s efforts to deal with Iran.

Joseph argued Iran got everything it wanted in the deal, including the ability to enrich uranium and research and develop nuclear weapons.

The Islamic regime received “well over” $150 billion, including pallets of cash infamously delivered in the dark of night.

That money was then used to support aggression against the U.S. in the region and “subsidize terrorist proxies like Hezbollah.”

“The Biden team today has made very clear its desire to resurrect the JCPOA, despite its many flaws,” Joseph said.

He argued Biden would be “willing to pay a very high price” to pursue that strategy.

Heartbreaking story of two boys dying from the devastating wildfires.

Wildfires have devastated states on the West Coast; at least 29 people have been killed, dozens of others missing, and hundreds of thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes.

The National Interagency Fire Center reports that 97 large fires have burned 4.7 million acres across the western states. Over 29,000 firefighters and support personnel are battling the wildfires, along with 2,200 fire engines and 103 aircraft. There are evacuation orders in place due to 40 large fires in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D) noted that nearly 900,000 acres had burned by Friday. "In the last 10 years, we see an average of 500,000 acres burn in an entire year. We've seen that nearly double in the past three days," Brown said.

Approximately 500,000 in Oregon have evacuated or have been instructed to be prepared to evacuate, which is more than 10% of the state's population.

Oregon's emergency management director, Andrew Phelps, told MSNBC that the state is preparing for a "mass fatality incident" because of the wildfires. "There are going to be a number of fatalities, folks who just couldn't get warning in time and evacuate their homes and get to safety," Phelps said.

Wyatt Tofte, a 12-year-old boy from Lyons, Oregon, and his 71-year-old grandmother Peggy Mosso died while trying to escape the fire. The boy took shelter in the family car, but the flames surrounded him. A family spokeswoman said Wyatt was found by himself in a car, and the family's dog was found dead in his lap.

Why I chose to tackle Obama's sexuality

Late one night about a year ago, I received a call from the mysterious Charles Johnson. Mother Jones calls Johnson, "Twitter's most infamous right-wing troll." Whatever. Johnson knows stuff, much of it true.

He asked me whether I had read David Garrow's massive 2017 Obama biography, "Rising Star." When I said I had, he asked whether I had read the paperback version. I had not. He pointed me to a particular page and told me to go get the paperback.

Garrow, a Pulitzer Prize-winning civil rights historian, knows stuff too. Although I disagree with his politics, I admire Garrow's nerve.

In June 2019, Garrow published a piece in the British journal Standpoint entitled, "The Troubling Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr." Two-dozen American media outlets, including the New York Times, had refused to run Garrow's highly newsworthy article.

Having exhaustively reviewed FBI documents, Garrow reported that King had been taped encouraging a fellow minister to rape a woman and actually witnessed the rape.

The FBI transcription of the audio, concluded Garrow, "poses so fundamental a challenge to his historical stature as to require the most complete and extensive historical review possible."

To no one's surprise, the America media did their best to ignore this story, and Garrow is lucky they did. The Pulitzers might have taken their prize back.

Obama is not quite the sacred cow King is, but he runs a close second, especially on the subject of sex. Although Garrow is no fan of mine, I am, with reservations, a fan of his. I decided to check out the paperback.

On page 113, I found the excerpt not included in the original version of "Rising Star." It came from a letter Obama wrote to his college girlfriend, Alex McNear....

It’s but the latest in a string of shocking revelations to hit headlines throughout the summer exposing how deep San Francisco’s crisis of vast amounts of vagrant-generated feces covering its public streets actually runs (no pun intended).

We detailed last week how city authorities have finally decided to do something after thousands of feces complaints (during only one week in July, over 16,000 were recorded), the cancellation of a major medical convention and an outraged new Mayor, London Breed, who was absolutely shocked after walking through her city: they established a professional “poop patrol”.

As described when the city initially unveiled the plan, the patrol will consist of a team of five staffers and a supervisor donning protective gear and patrolling the alleys around Polk Street and other “brown zones” in search of everything from hepatitis-laden Hershey squirts to worm-infested-logs. At the Poop Patrol’s disposal will be a special vehicle equipped with a steam cleaner and disinfectant.

The teams will begin their shifts in the afternoon, spotting and cleaning piles of feces before the city receives complaints in order “to be proactive” in the words of the Public Works director Mohammed Nuru, co-creator of the poop patrol initiative.

While at first glance it doesn’t sound like the type of job people will be knocking down human resources doors to apply for, the SF Chronicle has revealed just how much EACH member of this apparently elite “poop patrol” team will cost the city: $184,678 per year.

The surprisingly high figure is buried in the middle of the SF Chronicle’s story on Mayor London Breed’s morning walks along downtown streets with her staff, unannounced beforehand to her police force and department heads so she can view firsthand what common citizens endure on a daily basis.

After quoting Mayor Breed, who acknowledges, “We’re spending a lot of money to address this problem,” the following San Francisco Public Works budget items are presented:

A $72.5 million-a-year street cleaning budget

$12 million a year on what essentially have become housekeeping services for homeless encampments

$2.8 million for a Hot Spots crew to wash down the camps and remove any biohazards

$2.3 million for street steam cleaners

$3.1 million for the Pit Stop portable toilets

$364,000 for a four-member needle team

An additional $700,000 set aside for a 10-member, needle cleanup squad, complete with it’s own minivan

And crucially, there’s now “the new $830,977-a-year Poop Patrol to actively hunt down and clean up human waste.”

The SF Chronicle casually notes in parenthesis, “By the way, the poop patrolers earn $184,678 with mandated benefits.”

Though we’re sure the city’s giant $11.5 billion budget can handle the burgeoning clean-up costs, likely to blow up even further, we’re not sure how property owners paying hefty land and sales taxes which have soared over the past years will react.

It is clear to me that Trump is holding all the cards. He's forced the cabals hand to play every card they have in ever increasing desperation, and they are running out of cards fast. They're having to lie and cheat in ever more blatant ways, each time exposing themselves even further, awakening America to their agenda, all the while he trolls them and eggs them on. Both sides know that their every escalation will only make it worse for them when it all finally comes to light. They're betting everything they have on this election, this has truly instilled the fear of life or death for these caged animals, and they are behaving accordingly.

All of the unrest in the streets over the last few months has been a training ground to prepare domestic law enforcement for dealing with this insurrection, because they're going to need that training for dealing with what comes next. Things are speeding up rapidly as we count down the final weeks and days to this reckoning. My hope is that with each arrest of these rioters, arsonists, and terrorists, more evidence is collected, more Federal warrants issued, and more Federal indictments are created and sealed. And when the dam finally breaks and the real arrests begin, it should become immediately obvious that the criminality extended all the way up the local District Attorneys, judges, and politicians along with all the people who blackmailed them into allowing this to happen.

If, as Bill Binney and Snowden have led us to believe, everything everyone ever does or says while attached to the grid, everywhere we go and every electronic transaction we engage in is truly being swept up, indexed, archived, and is readily searchable and retrievable at the finger tips of MI officers, then Trump and Q truly do have it all. It's been established that classification cannot be used to keep evidence of criminality hidden from exposure to avoid prosecution, so why is that? It would appear that everything is hanging by a thread on declassification orders and unsealing of warrants, indictments & arrest orders. These I believe are Trumps cards that have yet to be played, and it seems to me the only real decision left is when the storm happens, and that timing rests literally in the Presidents hands.

The child sex trade is a global crisis. Far-right conspiracy theorists are harassing, distracting and intimidating the organizations fighting to end it.

Hundreds of protests erupted across the country in recent weeks, purportedly to demand an end to child sex trafficking. From tiny communities such as Poteau, Oklahoma, to Los Angeles, Miami, Denver and other major cities, people stormed the streets, calling for the mass execution of pedophiles and even accusing various public figures of torturing, raping and enslaving children to harvest their blood.

Lurking at the helm of these so-called “Save Our Children” rallies is QAnon, the far-right conspiracy theory movement that baselessly claims, with stunning and growing support, that President Donald Trump is secretly battling a “deep state” cabal of Democratic politicians and A-listcelebrities who traffic children for sex.

Child sex trafficking is a dire problem: It happens in all 50 states, almost always at the hands of people the victims know and trust. But QAnon — in its virulent campaign to expose a supposed underground pedophilia ring run by the liberal elite — is exacerbating the very crisis it claims to be fighting. As the movement appropriates and sensationalizes the issue to recruit more followers into its conspiratorial web, legitimate anti-trafficking organizations are suffering significant collateral damage.

HuffPost spoke to employees at child welfare groups across the U.S. and beyond about the burdens that QAnon has placed upon them and their work. For many, debunking viral misinformation, mining through unhinged tips and warding off mob harassment has become part of the job — detracting from their ability to actually help kids in need.

“It’s out of control,” said one exasperated senior staffer at a national anti-trafficking organization based in Washington. “It absolutely makes our job more difficult.”

Targeted Harassment

Since its origins on 4chan in late 2017, QAnon has burgeoned from an obscure online fringe group chasing grassroots donations and digital ad revenue into a powerful (and,attimes, violent) movement that has infiltrated the political mainstream, scored a tacit endorsement from Trump and amassed an enormous following — both online and offline. Now, as it channels its outsize influence to spread false and alarmist trafficking-related conspiracy theories, a handful of anti-trafficking groups have publicly condemned it.

Polaris, which runs the national human trafficking hotline, warned in July that unsubstantiated claims “can spin out of control and mislead well-meaning people into doing more harm than good.” In August, after the century-old charity Save the Children issued a public statement to distance itself from QAnon’s leeched “Save Our Children” front, the nonprofit World Without Exploitation followed suit, casting QAnon promoters as “grifters with a hero complex.” Days later, KidSafe Foundation denounced them as “parasites” who threaten to “tarnish our reputations and harm our good works.”

But QAnon is notorious for launching mob harassment campaigns against its perceived adversaries, and other anti-trafficking groups — having already witnessed or experienced such abuse — have declined to speak out against it.

The potential risk of publicly condemning QAnon and provoking its fury versus the harm of letting its conspiracy theories proliferate unchallenged is the subject of discussions playing out inside child welfare organizations across the country. Severalemployees who spoke to HuffPost declined to comment on the record for fear of triggering a backlash.

“We have had conversations internally about [QAnon], and just threading the needle on trying not to anger a very mobilized group,” said a senior employee at another human rights organization headquartered in Washington.

“What we’ve seen is that QAnon is a force to be reckoned with,” agreed anengagement professional at an international child welfare agency. “For organizations that do choose to speak out about it, it’s going to require a lot of resources to deal with [the fallout] — especially dealing with trolls.”

And when trafficking-related misinformation reaches a level at which it must be condemned or debunked, that can have “a real damaging effect on victims,” said Phil Brewer, a former police officer and the director of intelligence at Stop the Traffik.

“If they reach out for help, there may be a real worry that they won’t be believed.”

QAnon has inserted anti-trafficking organizations into its conspiracy theories.

QAnon’s online mob has also inserted anti-trafficking groups and staff into conspiracy theories. “Q” — the anonymous entity at the center of the movement, whom supporters believe to be a top government insider leaking coded intel to the public — once suggested that Polaris engaged in sinister activity with The Clinton Foundation.Since then, Polaris has fielded online accusations of facilitating sex crimes against children.

Two anti-trafficking organizations even told HuffPost that they had been contacted by mysterious activist groups, later revealed to be “Save Our Children” organizers, who requested to be put in touch with victims for public speaking events.

“We find ourselves having to be increasingly protective of the survivors we work with,” said the senior staffer at a national anti-trafficking organization in Washington. “There’s almost a voyeuristic aspect to this issue. People are drawn to it. ... They like to hear the gruesome details.”

When she and her team fought in 2016 to pass a California law decriminalizing child prostitution — protecting young victims of commercial sexual exploitation from being arrested for selling sex — misinformed trolls who neglected to research the law turned them into vile memes calling them perverts and predators. It was a scary experience, she said, but had it happened today, at a time when QAnon’s army of supporters blindly threatens violence against its perceived enemies, they would have feared for their lives.

“It definitely impedes our work when we’re getting harassed and trolled over misinformation campaigns,” she said. “It’s exhausting work. It’s traumatic work. It’s something that all of us do because there’s such an extreme need in our communities and around the country. And this just makes it all so much harder.”

Diverting Resources

For the many established organizations that have spent years or decades combating the sexual exploitation of children, QAnon’s insidious surge in popularity and the endless trafficking-related conspiracy theories it circulates have created a dangerous distraction.

“I’m constantly having to take time out of my day to debunk these things,”said Shea Rhodes, the director and co-founder of the Villanova Law Institute to Address Commercial Sexual Exploitation. Her team, which works closely with legislators and policymakers, just launched a digitalcampaign to fact-check the deluge of misinformation QAnon promotes.

“It doesn’t stop. It just doesn’t stop,” Rhodes said. “It’s been exhausting.”

As a result of QAnon’s conspiracy theories, “our staff is now busy correcting falsehoods and lies instead of handling the important work that they would otherwise be doing,” said the engagement professional at the international child welfare agency.

Viral conspiracy theories traceable to QAnon have also incited hordes of people to flood human trafficking tip lines with false information. In July, QAnon supporters spread the unfounded allegation that the furniture company Wayfair was selling missing children through shipments of expensive cabinets and pillows. As the hoax erupted online, hundreds of panicked reports poured into the national human trafficking hotline.

“Handling these redundant reports was extremely time-consuming and meant that other people, reporting new, actionable information or seeking emergency assistance or other services, were forced to wait for longer than was acceptable,” said Caren Benjamin, the chief communications officer for Polaris, which operates the hotline.

This kind of misinformation“takes attention and resources away from real [trafficking] cases,” said Borislav Gerasimov, the communications and advocacy coordinator at the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women. And trying to reason with people who have been conditioned to believe that child sex trafficking is a crime committed by a “shadowy cabal” of high-ranking public officials is often a fruitless endeavor to begin with, he added. “How can you prove something that doesn’t exist? It’s mind-boggling.”

There’s also concern that the absurd nature of QAnon’s conspiracy theories — such as the assertion that Satan-worshipping elites are extracting adrenaline from the blood of children to oxidize into adrenochrome, a psychoactive drug — is trivializing sex trafficking and diverting serious concern away from the crisis.

“When you have these very extreme narratives, there’s always pushback in the opposite direction,” said Haley McNamara, the director of the International Centre on Sexual Exploitation. “We have even seen some people saying that sex trafficking itself a myth.”

It’s not just far-right conspiracy theorists feeding into these harmful narratives. Over the past several weeks, as QAnon’s base has been revealed to be far larger and more influential than previously believed, Trump and his reelection campaign have made increasingly brazen attempts to capitalize on misinformation-fueled hysteria surrounding child sex trafficking. The president even referred to QAnon supporters in a recent press conference as “people that love our country.”

The Trump campaign didn’t respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

“For many years, child trafficking has been a bipartisan issue — especially on the Hill; we’ve had amazing champions on both sides. But it’s no secret that this administration has tried to appropriate this issue and politicize it, which has been very, very distressing,” said the senior staffer at the national anti-trafficking organization in Washington.

“When Trump speaks to those things and gives [groups such as QAnon] his stamp of approval, it emboldens those folks. And for this group in particular, it gives them a sense of legitimacy and purpose and incentivizes more members of his base to join that fray.”

Judge rules Los Angeles can ban religious worship

LOS ANGELES, September 11, 2020 (Thomas More Society) — The Los Angeles Superior Court issued a preliminary injunction on September 10, 2020, against Grace Community Church and Pastor John MacArthur, refusing to follow the U.S. and California State constitutional protections for churches. The ruling fails to apply the appropriate constitutional standard of review. The order prohibits the church from “conducting, participating in, or attending any indoor worship services” and also bans outdoor worship unless onerous restrictions are followed in a heavy-handed move against the internationally known preacher and his congregation. MacArthur and Grace Community Church’s attorneys from the Thomas More Society said the judge refused to consider their important separation of powers arguments “in any meaningful fashion” and essentially “ducked the issue.”

Gov't employees enjoy very robust union backing. It's sometimes hard to get rid of shitty ones, especially if they have "dirt" on their boss.

A good solution is to hire a temp boss, who will very quickly develop a new papertrail on the problem employee, and within 4-6 months have them terminated for cause. Then you fire the temp employee, so that if the fired worker sues, the person who actually fired them isn't there to respond to the lawsuit.

It's like using a shell corporation and is a way for higher ups to keep their hands clean.

Time is running out for the federal Liberal government to name a new commander of the Canadian Armed Forces before it faces a confidence vote, with some observers worrying a delay could leave the military in limbo in the event of an election.

“It then becomes an issue about where does the priority fall?”

The Liberal government has quietly indicated it wants to announce the new chief of defence staff before the speech from the throne on Sept. 23. Sources at the Department of National Defence, who are not authorized to discuss the search publicly, said interviews were conducted this past week

Retired lieutenant-general Guy Thibault, who previously served as vice-chief of the defence staff, is one of those hoping for an announcement before a possible election.

“You just don’t want to have a chief in waiting with a chief caretaker in place,” said Thibault, who now heads the Conference of Defence Associations Institute.

The seemingly obvious choice is Lt.-Gen. Mike Rouleau.

The former Ottawa police officer who re-enrolled in the Forces after 9/11 spent years in the field before becoming commander of Canada’s special forces in 2014, at a time when the elite soldiers were in Iraq and elsewhere.

Rouleau has since been burnishing his credentials in Ottawa, first as commander of the Canadian Joint Operations Command, which oversees all domestic and foreign operations, before recently taking over as Vance’s second-in-command.

“I think Mike is really the full-meal deal of all the current three-stars,” said Thibault, echoing an assessment shared by many defence insiders and observers.

Rouleau’s appointment would signal a continuation of the current path set by Vance’s five-year tenure — the longest in modern Canadian history — and enshrined in the Liberals’ defence policy.

That policy — known as Strong, Secure, Engaged — released in 2017 promised massive billions of dollars in investments over the next 20 years for more troops, new equipment such as warships and jets, and new capabilities in cyber and space.

A similar signal would be sent if the Liberal government tapped Royal Canadian Air Force commander Lt.-Gen. Al Meinzinger, Canadian Army commander Lt.-Gen. Wayne Eyre or Royal Canadian Navy commander Vice-Admiral Art McDonald.

They, along with Lt.-Gen. Christopher Coates, who recently moved into Rouleau’s old job as head of the Canadian Joint Operations Command, would bring their own skills and styles, but they are also viewed as largely similar in terms of continuity.

A supercomputer found a promising theory about why COVID-19 cases go downhill fast. It even explains the bizarre range of symptoms.

Imagine trying to drive a car with a leaky engine. Now imagine there are no brakes, either. Eventually, you're going to run out of fuel or crash. Some passengers might survive — others won't.

The human body may endure a similar experience in response to a coronavirus infection, according to a study from researchers at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. The lab's supercomputers — one of which is the second-fastest in the world — analyzed lung fluid samples from nine coronavirus patients with severe cases in Wuhan, China.

The computers detected major differences in way these patients expressed certain genes relative to the way healthy people do.

Based on those abnormalities, the researchers came up with a new theory: Patients with severe COVID-19 may experience what's known as a "bradykinin storm."

Bradykinin is a chemical that regulates blood pressure. The researchers found that some people with the coronavirus may produce it in extreme excess. That storm throws major systems — including respiratory, gastrointestinal, and neurological pathways — off balance.

The theory aligns with researchers' growing view of the coronavirus as a vascular disease instead of a respiratory one. Research has shown that COVID-19 can lead to blood clots, leaky capillaries, and inflamed blood vessels — which is why some patients may experience heart damage or stroke.

"We were really scratching our heads for a while, how does this disease have this darn broad set of symptoms across lots of different organ systems?" Dr. Daniel Jacobson, the lead researcher behind the supercomputer study, told Business Insider. "As we looked at the effects of bradykinin, our model was that this virus can affect several different types of tissues, several different organs."

Too much bradykinin can send the body spiraling out of control

Scientists already know that the coronavirus binds to cell receptors called ACE2. That's how the virus sneaks into the body's upper respiratory tract, then infects organs like the lungs, heart, kidneys, or intestines.

But the supercomputers found that coronavirus patients had a 200-fold increase in the expression of ACE2 relative to a healthy person. This suggests the virus is actively influencing our bodies to make them even easier to infiltrate. At the same time, they computers found, coronavirus patients also had an eight-fold decrease in the expression of ACE, a protein that normally works with ACE2 to keep blood pressure in check.

"This system that is normally very carefully balanced — COVID-19 really throws it out of whack," Jacobson said.

This imbalance, the researchers think, is what leads to the over-production of bradykinin, which swoops in to keep blood pressure from getting too high. In severe cases, the cycle seems to go into overdrive: The body can't stop producing bradykinin. This is what researchers call a "bradykinin storm."

An excess of the chemical widens the gaps in blood vessels, which allows fluid to leak out. That fluid, in turn, starts to fill up the alveoli: tiny air sacs in the lungs — hence why patients have trouble breathing.

The supercomputers also found that coronavirus patients may over-produce a highly absorbent substance called hyaluronic acid. When the acid mixes with the fluid in the lungs, patients can feel like they're trying to breathe out of "a balloon full of Jell-O," Jacobson said.

"There may be a tipping point where enough of this hyaluronic acid builds up, then all of a sudden they have respiratory distress," he added. "That explains why some people seem to be doing fine and then they crash and all of a sudden need hospitalization or worse."

The origin of the Horned God may date to Paleolithic times, as evidenced by a ritualistic cave painting discovered in the Caverne des Trois Freres at Ariège, France. One of the figures is either a stag standing upright on hind legs or a man dressed in stag costume in a dance. The Sorcerer is one name for an enigmatic cave painting found in the cavern known as 'The Sanctuary' at the Cave of the Trois-Frères, Ariège, France, made around 13,000 BCE. The figure's significance is unknown, but it is usually interpreted as some kind of great spirit or master of animals. The unusual nature of The Sanctuary's decoration may also reflect the practice of magical ceremonies in the chamber.[1] In his sketches of the cave art, Henri Breuil drew a horned humanoid torso and the publication of this drawing in the 1920s[2] influenced many subsequent theories about the figure.

The wearing of animal clothes in rituals to secure game was practiced in Europe for thousands of years. Among the deities and beings associated with the Horned God are Cernunnos, the Celtic god of fertility, animals and the underworld; Herne the Hunter, a specter of Britain; PAn, the Greek god of the woodlands; Janus, the roman god of good beginnings, whose twofaced visage represents youth and age, life and death; Tammuz and Damuzi, the son-lover-consorts to IshtAr and InAnnA; Osiris, Egyptian lord of the underworld; Dionysus, Greek god of vegetation and the vine, whose cult observed rites of dismemberment and resurrection; and the Green mAn, the lord of vegetation and the woodlands.

The horns of the Horned God are associated with his domain of the woodlands, and with the bull and the ram, animal consorts of the Goddess. The horns also symbolize the crescent moon, which is the symbol of the Goddess and represents increase in all things and waxing fertility.

In art, the Horned God may be portrayed as half man and half animal, as were Cernunnos and Pan. There is no association between the Horned God and the Devil, except in the Christian Demonization of pagan deities. most traditions in contemporary Witchcraft emphasize the Goddess, though the Horned God is considered important in his role in male-female polarity.

He is worshiped in rites, in which he is personified by the high priest, who sometimes wears an antlered headdress or a horned helmet. The Horned God represents sexuality, vitality, the hunt, logic and power, but not in an exploitative fashion. He is considered gentle, tender and compassionate yet is not effeminate. Abstract

The nonapeptide bradykinin is an important growth factor for many cancers. Certain peptide and non-peptide bradykinin antagonists show remarkable anti-cancer activities in both in vitro and in vivo cancer models, especially of lung and prostate cancers. Bradykinin antagonists stimulate apoptosis in cancers by a novel "biased agonist" mechanism: they block intracellular increase of calcium concentration but stimulate the MAP kinase pathway. This unbalanced effect stimulates caspase activation. In nude mouse xenotransplants of lung and prostate cancers the antagonists inhibit angiogenesis and activation of membrane metalloproteases (MMP 2 and 9). In the xenotransplants certain bradykinin antagonists showed higher potency than standard anti-cancer drugs, without evident toxicity to the hosts. These compounds offer great promise for development of new anti-cancer drugs.

The involvement of kinins in bronchial asthma has been speculated in numerous clinicals reports. The effects of bradykinin on airways have been studied in vivo and in vitro in animals and humans, but its mode of action remains uncertain. The recent availability of selective B2 antagonists could be of help in defining more precisely kinins in the various aspects of asthma.

The Strange Saga of Jeffrey Epstein’s Link to a Child Star Turned Cryptocurrency Mogul

How Brock Pierce ended up as an Epstein guest along with a NASA computer engineer, an MIT professor and a Nobel laureate in theoretical physics is a bizarre tale involving Steve Bannon and an international man of mystery who may or may not be dead.

Even before Jeffrey Epstein’s mysterious death Aug. 10, many people who knew him were hoping the world would forget or, better yet, never learn that they had any association at all with the notorious predator.

One such person may be serially self-reinventing entrepreneur Brock Pierce, who as a teenager co-founded the eventually infamous Digital Entertainment Network and who, in the mid- to late ‘90s, was associated with an alleged sex-abuse ring — this one involving young men. Several later contended in court filings that Pierce and two associates had drugged and assaulted them at parties in their Encino mansion. Pierce was never charged with any crime and has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. He settled with one plaintiff, and two others dismissed their cases against him.

Nothing suggests that anything of a sexual nature or anything untoward at all occurred at Mindshift. Pierce is only one of dozens of figures in Epstein’s dizzyingly vast network, and the link between the two may be nothing but a curiosity. But it is a strange tale: how a former child actor who never went to college ended up as an Epstein guest — a seemingly unlikely addition to a group that included a NASA computer engineer, an MIT professor of electrical engineering and a Nobel laureate in theoretical physics. “I don’t know what he had to do with science [or] why he was there,” says one person who attended.

Cryptocurrency was very much in its nascent stages when Epstein invited Pierce to Mindshift. His bio on a list of attendees reads "entrepreneur, creator of virtual currencies and goods." His rep says he accepted the invitation for “the opportunity to interact with major scientific thinkers” and participated in a panel discussion on cryptocurrency with prominent scientists (none of whom appeared to have any expertise in the area, based on their bios from the same document).

It's unclear what, if anything, Epstein expected to get from Pierce, who was unlikely to add to the prestige of the conference. Epstein’s activities in the area of cryptocurrency remain mysterious. In 2017, he gave an interview to website The Next Web in which he expressed a vague interest in the area, and The Wall Street Journal has reported that Epstein claimed that he worked for the U.S. Treasury Department on cryptocurrency.

Another strand may connect Epstein to cryptocurrency and indirectly to Pierce: In 2015, Joi Ito — then director of the MIT Media Lab — announced a Digital Currency Initiative. This came during a financially challenging time for the Bitcoin Foundation — the industry's first trade group, founded in September 2012 — and Ito hired cryptocurrency developers previously supported by the foundation. Just days after Ito’s announcement, Pierce was named the foundation’s chairman. (Ito recently resigned from MIT Media Lab following reports that he had accepted major donations from Epstein and attempted to conceal the relationship.)

Pierce was also in business starting in the mid-2000s with former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon, who had his own ties to Epstein. Bannon did not respond to requests for comment but he apparently remains a fan of Pierce, who has popped up lately as an unlikely presence in Trump world.

In a Dear John Oliver missive, EOS simultaneously challenged the famous comedian and his recent diatribe against ICOs, and cryptocurrency in general, while dismissing crypto-advocate Brock Pierce.

According to the post on Medium;

In the Oliver video the comedian requested viewers to “Google Block Pierce Scandal” drawing attention to questions that have long been known within the cryptocurrency industry.

One commenter on Reddit exemplified other individuals surprise;

I had zero idea who brock was – I don’t follow that kinda of thing, perhaps I should research everyone involved in a currency. I recall seeing the video and thinking “that guy with the hat is a bit of a dick” – it was one of my earlier buys. Glad to be rid of it. It’s now out my portfolio, at a slight loss, got into that other coin that starts with a V and has a chain in it instead.” Pierce has been a long time proponent and popular speaker at events focusing on Bitcoin and the emerging ICO industry. His enthusiasm and professional delivery made him a popular draw at conferences everywhere. While Pierce may have been pushed aside at EOS, it is unclear how it will impact his affiliation with other organizations. One prominent crypto startup is ICO platform Cointopia where Pierce is listed as an advisor.

Pierce first came to prominence as a child actor playing roles in films like the Mighty Ducks or Little Big League. He then became involved on the production side of the entertainment industry assisting with various shows such as Chad’s World about gay teenagers, according to Wikipedia.

Controversy has always surrounded Pierce, but this has not stopped him from helping promote the crypto industry. Reportedly, Pierce has invested in many blockchain based companies and has helped crypto companies raise hundreds of millions of dollars.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) signed a controversial bill into law Friday that will give judges greater discretion to decide whether adults who commit sodomy with minors should be placed on California’s sex offender registry.

The bill, which passed the Democrat-led legislature last week, created a firestorm as proponents said its main purpose was to end discrimination against LGBT adults who have oral and anal sex with minors who claim to be consenting to the sexual activity.

However, a stunning revelation came as Netflix attempted to shift the onus of the backlash onto the Sundance Festival by singing the praises the award ceremony had rained on the controversial film: one of the Festival’s is a convicted child molester, currently serving jail time in his seventies.

Wake Co. Sheriff Says Staff Member in Gun Permit Office Tested Positive for COVID, Permit Delays Expected

Raleigh, N.C. — Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker said that one member of his staff in the gun permit office tested positive for COVID-19.

All nine staff members who work in this department were exposed to the coronavirus as a result.

"As long as the pandemic is happening, it is going to continue to affect this office," he said.

On Monday, Baker said that the office will have a "modified crew" to meet the influx of appointments that are scheduled for Monday.

There are about 171 people scheduled to pick up their pistol purchases and concealed carry licenses on Monday. On Tuesday, there are around 245 people who have scheduled appointments in the gun permit office.

The county issued 22,201 more permits this year from January to Sept. 13.

"These numbers are not normal," Baker said.

He is asking for patience in processing these requests during the pandemic.

A grassroots gun-rights group filed another lawsuit against his office in August, over the time it takes for residents to obtain hand gun permits.

Grass Roots North Carolina said last month that their office has been "flooded with complaints" from people who are trying to buy guns but are unable to do so because of limitations set in place by Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker.

"You can sue me all day," Baker said, "but those numbers tell you that it is going to be almost impossible to service that number of applications with the processes in place and the background checks that are required in a 14-day period."

According to GRNC, "Baker refuses to process pistol purchase permits within the 14 days required by law, effectively denying citizens their right to keep and bear arms." GRNC asserts that more people are buying guns after rioting and protests across the country.

Riots in North Carolina back in May led to a spike in gun permits in June, according to officials and gun shop owners.

From the first day of January to Sept. 13, a total of 24,119 purchase permit applications were received. Last year during that time frame, only 2,785 applications were received.

In reference to trying to limit the number of people coming into the office, Baker said that, "we did, I believe, not violate anyone's constitutional rights."

"It was just a step of us trying to protect our staff so we could continue to serve our county," he said.

The Federal Reserve does not own gold.

The Gold Reserve Act of 1934 required the Federal Reserve System to transfer ownership of all of its gold to the Department of the Treasury. In exchange, the Secretary of the Treasury issued gold certificates to the Federal Reserve for the amount of gold transferred at the then-applicable statutory price for gold held by the Treasury.

Trump wants ‘DEATH PENALTY’ for attacker who shot LA cops, as protesters chant ‘WE HOPE THEY DIE’

Protesters have picketed the hospital where two LA deputies are in critical condition after being shot, chanting “we hope they die.” If they do, President Trump has called for a “fast trial” and“death penalty” for the gunman.

Two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies were shot in their car near a metro station in the city of Compton on Saturday. Video footage shared by the sheriff’s department shows the shooter approaching the vehicle and opening fire “without warning or provocation.”

The two deputies were taken to hospital in critical condition, and underwent surgery late on Saturday night. As they fought for their lives, a crowd of protesters descended on the hospital’s emergency room, with some outside chanting“we hope they die.” According to a tweet from the sheriff’s department, the protesters blocked entries and exits to the hospital, and were eventually dispersed, with two arrested after a scuffle with officers.

President Donald Trump was livid. “If they die, fast trial [and] death penalty for the killer,” he tweeted on Sunday. “Only way to stop this.”

If the deputies did die and the killer was caught and tried, California law would allow for the death penalty. However, nobody has been executed in California since 2006, and Governor Gavin Newsom issued a moratorium on executions last year. Capital punishment can be ordered by the federal justice system, but in practice, most death sentences are handed down by state courts.

Trump often takes to Twitter to demand the executions of particularly heinous criminals. Last month he urged federal prosecutors to “again seek the death penalty” for Boston marathon bomber Dzokhar Tsarnaev, after his death sentence was vacated in May. Before becoming president, Trump called for the execution of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorists, cop killers, mass shooters and pedophiles.

The statements are specifically in response to the Department of Defense releasing a report earlier this month which predicted that “Over the next decade, China’s nuclear warhead stockpile — currently estimated to be in the low 200s — is projected to at least double in size as China expands and modernizes its nuclear forces.”

Chinese defense ministry spokesman Col. Wu Qian responded, “Many years of evidence shows that it is the U.S. that is the fomenter of regional unrest, the violator of the international order and the destroyer of world peace.”

He listed US regime change and destabilizing actions in Iraq, Syria, Libya and other countries, according to the AP:

Analysis of FOX News Poll: When Adjusted for Party Affiliation and Reality – Trump is Destroying Hiden’ Biden

FOX News came out with its poll results again this Sunday. This poll consistently is skewed towards the Democrats. Today we explain why this is and offer estimates when eliminating this polling bias. (Hint – Trump is way ahead!)

FOX News came out this morning with the results of its poll where they again show former Obama Vice President Biden ahead of President Trump in the polls – 51%-46%. This is in spite of no excitement for candidate Biden who is taking questions using a teleprompter and can’t seem to get out of his basement.

Anyone can see that Joe Biden is but a shell of a person that he once was. Biden now is sadly suffering from senility and possible Alzheimer’s disease. He is holding tiny events with no enthusiasm at all. So the results of the FOX poll are puzzling at best and have been for some time.

The good news for Trump supporters coming from the apparent biased poll is that over 50% of those polled believe President Trump will win the election.

Overall though the poll results clearly are tainted. So we decided to look into the data, or at least what we could find.

One item that jumps out immediately is the sample sizes used in the poll. According to the poll data the FOX poll used 49% Democrats and 46% Republicans and 5% Independent in their poll:

It appears that FOX eliminates the significant Independent vote in its polling. Why would FOX hide this significant number in its results?

Another puzzling result from the FOX News poll is their results showing only 5% of the Black vote supporting President Trump. Rasmussen with a much better track record shows President Trump currently bringing in 30% of the Black vote and 44% of the other non-white vote. If these ratios were the same, President Trump would be ahead in the FOX News poll:

WATCH Colombians scuffle with riot squads in Bogota as outcry over police brutality intensifies

Fuelled by the death of an unarmed local man at the hands of police, protests against law enforcement brutality continued for the fourth night in Bogota, and descended into turbulent clashes with heavily armed riot squads.

Hundreds of people flooded the streets of the Colombian capital to confront officers – who were equipped with riot shields and heavy-duty gear – early on Sunday. Some protesters chanted slogans and sprayed paint on the police shields, while others were filmed kicking officers away.

Police remained calm but launched a counteroffensive when the scuffle got more turbulent. Riot squads moved in to separate the crowds and made occasional arrests.

The brewing unrest was sparked after Javier Ordonez, a 46-year-old taxi driver and law student, was detained by Bogota police for an alleged violation of the lockdown rules, still in place to contain the Covid-19 virus. According to police, Ordonez defied the restrictions by drinking alcohol in the open with his friends.

Officers tackled him down to the ground and repeatedly tasered him as he begged, "please, no more." Graphic footage of his arrest, filmed by a bystander, quickly went viral among Spanish-speaking social media users after Ordonez died in a hospital on Tuesday. Two officers were charged by authorities, and five others were suspended.

Most of the unrest initially took place in Bogota, but later spilled over into the cities of Medellin, Cali and Manizales on Thursday. At least 13 people have died in cities across Colombia, and over 200 civilians and more than 190 police officers have been injured. Colombia began to relax some of its lockdown restrictions in Bogota and Medellin at the end of August, with businesses and public transport allowed to operate in a socially-distanced manner.

The Latin American country currently ranks sixth in the list of nations worst hit by the pandemic. Its Covid-19 tally stands at over 709,000 and the death toll is over 22,700.

Facebook says it’ll REMOVE all posts alleging Oregon fires ‘were started by certain groups’

Facebook has announced that it will be wiping messages alleging that wildfires, which have been sweeping through Oregon, might be the work of certain groups after the FBI brushed off reports of arson as “conspiracy theories.”

“We are removing false claims that the wildfires in Oregon were started by certain groups,” Andy Stone, policy communications manager at Facebook, tweeted late on Saturday.

Defending what is effectively an act of censorship by the social media giant, Stone noted that speculation suggesting the blazes have been ignited by extremists are forcing law enforcement to “divert resources from fighting the fires and protecting the public.”

The move comes as multiple wildfires are tearing through Oregon, closing in on Portland, the center of the Black Lives Matter protests, which have been marred by vandalism and arson.

The wildfires sparked mass evacuation in the state, forcing more than 40,000 people to flee their homes due to the blaze. As of Saturday, at least 10 people lost their lives in the catastrophe, and dozens are missing.

The fire has already left a trail of destruction, having burned over one million acres across the state, twice as much as the yearly average, the Oregonian reported.

As the fires are being referred to as “historic” in terms of the number of conflagrations and the estimated damage, speculation arose that foul play might be involved, with rumors circulating online that Antifa or BLM activists could be behind the infernos.

On Friday, the FBI sought to shut down those rumors, saying that they had “investigated several such reports” and determined them “to be untrue.” In its message, the FBI urged the public to “help us stop the spread of misinformation.”

'I hope they f***ing die!'

After two Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies sustained multiple gunshot wounds upon being ambushed while sitting in their patrol vehicle on Saturday, alleged Black Lives Matters protesters stormed the hospital where the officers were transported to for emergency surgery.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, protesters attempted to block the entrance and exit of the hospital. Protesters also shouted that they hoped the injured officers died.

"To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling 'We hope they die' referring to 2 LA Sheriff's ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL. People's lives are at stake when ambulances can't get through," the agency said.

Video taken from outside the hospital showed one protester tell law enforcement officers standing guard outside the hospital, "I hope they f***ing die," referring to the injured officers.

Running censored images through filters on apps such as PicsArt seems to be avoiding the censors. I ran this image through PicsArt with a filter and posted to FB. The image posted without a banner. I have worked with some friends on adding captcha characteristics which seems to work as well, however, other methods seem to be more time consuming. This is a quick approach which breaks up pixels, contrast and color variations. It can be run through the filters over and over again in order to keep defeating the censors. I hope this helps anyone who has had problems defeating the censors; this is a simple approach. Thank you! WWG1WGA
