At a Senate Judiciary hearing earlier this week, Google's vice president of public policy, Karan Bhatia, confirmed that the tech giant has abandoned work on its secret project codenamed Dragonfly, a censored search engine tailored for the Chinese market.

My guess is that they been working on it the whole time and that google(the engine) is dragonfly

In June 2015 Google engineers released a couple of images that caused a stir for everyone who’s able to grasp only the basics of what’s going on here. The DeepDream algorithm shows us quite plainly how perception works. You can only see what you were trained to see. In the case of Google’s AI a lot of dogs obviously.

The pictures are the result of an experiment with Google’s image recognition network, which has been “taught” to identify features such as buildings, animals and objects in photographs.The process is called Deep Learning which is a new field within Machine Learning. The researchers feed a picture into the artificial neural network, asking it to recognise a feature of it, and modify the picture to emphasise the feature it recognises. That modified picture is then fed back into the network, which is again tasked to recognise features and emphasise them, and so on. Eventually, the feedback loop modifies the picture beyond all recognition.

UPDATED 6/24, 9:50 a.m. ET: A rep for Mel Gibson stated to Variety, “This is 100 percent untrue. [Ryder] lied about it over a decade ago, when she talked to the press, and she’s lying about it now.”

Ryder previously said Gibson attempted to apologize to her for the offensive remarks; the rep says that’s false, too. “She lied about him trying to apologize to her back then. He did reach out to her, many years ago, to confront her about her lies and she refused to address it with him.”

Mel Gibson is once again coming under fire for his perceived prejudices.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times of London, Winona Ryder discussed her Jewish heritage and some of the anti-Semitism she’s faced during her career. She recalled one 1995 incident in particular, where Gibson used derogatory language towards Ryder and her friend.

“We were at a crowded party with one of my good friends, and Mel Gibson was smoking a cigar, and we’re all talking and he said to my friend, who’s gay, ‘Oh wait, am I gonna get AIDS?’ And then something came up about Jews, and he said, ‘You’re not an oven dodger, are you?’”

Ryder told the publication that Gibson “tried” to apologize at a later date. The Stranger Things actress first opened up about the incident in 2010.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) has plans in the works for taxpayers to foot the bill for the words "Black Lives Matter" to be painted in the street in front of President Donald Trump's Trump Tower in the Big Apple.

One source told The Post, "Obviously (de Blasio) is doing it to antagonize the president. This is what he is concerned about while the city burns. What an amateur politician."

According to the New York Daily News, a spokeswoman for de Blasio issued a statement on his mural plans, saying, "The president is a disgrace to the values we cherish in New York City. He can't run or deny the reality we are facing, and any time he wants to set foot in the place he claims is his hometown, he should be reminded Black Lives Matter."

The reports of the mural came the same day de Blasio announced that the jobs of tens of thousands of New York City employees are on the chopping block due to budget shortfalls stemming from the COVID-19 crisis.

Fox News reported that "during a news conference Wednesday, de Blasio said the city is facing $9 billion in lost revenue, with a possibility that losses could end up actually being much higher." He said 22,000 municipal employees could be laid off to bridge the gap.

Planned Parenthood: Free Birth Control to Counter ‘Systemic Racism’

Planned Parenthood has launched a new campaign that urges American businesses to pledge free birth control coverage in employee health insurance plans to counter “systemic racism” and ensure black people enjoy “reproductive freedom.”

In a press release Tuesday, Planned Parenthood announced the launching of its Business for Birth Control 2020 campaign, in which the abortion business is calling upon national companies to pledge birth control is “essential” to women’s health care.

In the announcement of its new campaign, Planned Parenthood continued its narrative that it is acting “as the country grapples with the dual public health crises of systemic racism and the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The group claims “systemic racism” has made it difficult for black individuals to obtain birth control and enjoy “reproductive freedom.”

Planned Parenthood said its “Wall Street Journal advertisement and posts” on the social media sites of businesses that align with them “will ensure the message reaches tens of millions of people.”

In a statement to Breitbart News, Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood manager who became a pro-life activist, said the Business for Birth Control campaign is another attempt by Planned Parenthood to enrich itself.

“Many women who become pregnant and seek abortions were already on some form of birth control,” Johnson said. She asked:

And who do they go to for abortions? Planned Parenthood, who performs more than a third of all abortions done in this country. They claim to want to partner with companies to provide free birth control, yet when it fails, they get more customers and hence, more opportunities to line their pockets. It’s a vicious cycle and one that these companies are now a part of.

Alexis McGill Johnson, Planned Parenthood’s acting CEO, said free birth control is “under constant threat” in the nation and employers should “invest” in their employees’ health.

Leftwing groups such as Planned Parenthood have enjoyed Obamacare’s declaration of birth control as an “essential preventive service,” rather than a personal choice for sexually active people. This feature of the health reform law involved most employers in the sexual choices of their employees.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic in America, Planned Parenthood has insisted its surgical abortions are “essential” services and must continue, even as dental, colonoscopy, orthopedic, and radiology services were deemed “nonessential” and patients were required to postpone potentially life-saving screenings. The abortion chain dismissed concerns it was using up scarce personal protective equipment to perform abortions that healthcare providers needed to care for patients stricken by the coronavirus infection and sued states that deemed abortions “nonessential.”

The US Navy Officially Becomes a Prison for Sailors

Active duty member of the United States Navy, speaking on condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation, told The Gateway Pundit that mass desertions are possible unless the Navy relents on draconian restrictions quietly promulgated in the past week.

Using Coronavirus as an excuse, the US Navy has, effectively, confined all sailors to their barracks or bases for the foreseeable future.

No church, no pools, no gyms, no restaurants, no sports, no movies!

This hysterical lockdown is an outrage that should infuriate every veteran of the US armed forces.

Among the Navy’s new restrictions:

• Sailors may not attend indoor religious services

• Sailors may not visit gyms, pools, fitness facilities, exercise classes, saunas, spas, or salons

• Sailors may not visit tattoo/piercing, or body art parlors

• Sailors may not visit barbershops, hair or nail salons, or massage parlors

• Sailors may not visit cinemas or theaters

In other words, sailors may not do anything.

The average age of a member of the Navy is somewhere in the 20s. For those in their 20s, the risk of death or severe complications from Coronavirus is less than 0.1%. Even among those who contract the disease.

This Navy policy seems intended to drive sailors out of the Navy rather than to protect them. As a 10-year Navy veteran, I have never been more disappointed in a branch of the US armed forces. I see this as a complete capitulation to China and, possibly, a flag-level mutiny.

FBI Director Christopher Wray sat down with Fox News political anchor Bret Baier in a wide-ranging interview that aired Wednesday evening.

Bret Baier asked Wray if he was personally responsible for hiding exculpatory evidence from General Flynn and Congress.

Wray danced around the question and refused to answer.

Very telling.

“Were you responsible for holding back from Congress some of that stuff?” Bret Baier asked Wray referring to documents exonerating Flynn.

“I think we’ve tried very, very hard to be transparent and cooperative with all the relevant congressional committees,” Wray said dodging the question.

FBI Director Chris Wray was previously accused of withholding evidence in the General Michael Flynn case.

FBI Attorney Dana Boente was also accused.

In April, the FBI denied Director Wray withheld exculpatory evidence in the Flynn case, but the FBI said nothing about Boente’s actions.

The Appeals Court on Wednesday upheld the Justice Department’s request to drop the criminal case against General Flynn.

Wray’s refusal to answer Bret Baier directly if he was personally responsible for withholding documents from Flynn’s case is very telling.

IMF again slashes its 2020 global output forecast

The International Monetary Fund has once again slashed its economic forecast for the global economy. It now estimates a contraction of 4.9 percent in 2020 — 1.9 percentage points lower than its forecast in April.

The IMF released its World Economic Outlook Update on Wednesday. The report warns that by the end of 2021 global activity will take a hit of more than 12 trillion dollars as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Among advanced economies, the IMF in particular sharply lowered its forecast for European countries.

France is now expected to see a decline of 12.5 percent, down 5.3 percentage points from its April figure, and Italy, minus 12.8 percent, down 3.7 percentage points. The United States will contract by 8 percent, down 2.1 percentage points, and Japan, minus 5.8 percent, down by 0.6 percentage points.

The IMF notes consumption growth has been downgraded for most economies, reflecting the larger-than-anticipated disruption to domestic activity. It also says the projections of weaker private consumption reflect a combination of a large adverse aggregate demand shock from social distancing and lockdowns, as well as a rise in precautionary savings.

Among emerging markets and developing economies, where infections are spreading, the fund expects a contraction of 4.5 percent in India, down 6.4 percentage points from its previous forecast, and minus 9.1 percent in Brazil, down 3.8 percentage points. IMF Economic Counsellor Gita Gopinath said given that there's so much uncertainty and the health risk is not over yet they are projecting a slower recovery.

Gopinath adds that the IMF expects to see a pickup as many countries reopen, but that the growth will be uneven.

Border Patrol Expels 41K Migrants Under Coronavirus Protocols

U.S. Border Patrol agents expelled more than 41,000 migrants who illegally crossed since March 21 under Title 42 Coronavirus protection protocols. The expulsions followed the apprehension of more than 67,000 in March, April, and May.

“On March 21, 2020 the President, in accordance with Title 42 of the United States Code Section 265, determined that by reason of existence of COVID-19 in Mexico and Canada, there is a serious danger of the further introduction of COVID-19 into the United States; that prohibition on the introduction of persons or property, in whole or in part, from Mexico and Canada is required in the interest of public health,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said in a written statement. “To help prevent the introduction of COVID-19 into border facilities and into the United States, persons subject to the order will not be held in congregate areas for processing and instead will immediately be expelled to their country of last transit.”

In April and May, Border Patrol agents apprehended 37,514 migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico, according to the CBP Southwest Border Migration Report. Under Title 42 authority, agents expelled 34,563 to Mexico. An additional 6,928 were expelled in the final 10 days of March.

Migrants apprehended by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border are medically screened and subjected to a criminal background investigation before being expelled to Mexico, Border Patrol officials previously told Breitbart Texas.

The impact of the Title 42 protocols on migrants being held in custody or released into the United States has been dramatic.

“CBP had more than 3,400 individuals in custody in early March and now averages around 100 at any given time because of this initiative and other travel restrictions,” officials told Breitbart Texas in response to an email inquiry. “For comparison, the daily average number of migrants in CBP custody was 20,000 at the peak of the migration crisis in 2019.”

“By processing in the field and quickly expelling individuals who cross illegally, we protect them, our agents, and the American public from potential exposure to COVID-19,” officials concluded.

Officials said the Title 42 authority “does not apply to persons who should be excepted based on considerations of law enforcement, officer and public safety, humanitarian, or public health interests.”

CBP officials told Breitbart that expulsions under Title 42 do not count as deportations or removal for purposes of prosecution. Migrants can re-enter and be re-expelled multiple times without facing prosecution for illegal re-entry after removal.

As we’re seeing all over the country, the left is rewriting history on the fly to rationalize the behavior of the angry mobs rioting and looting and destroying stuff. Now the big craze is tearing down statues in public places. Not just Confederate statues, either. Pretty much any metal object that looks like a life-sized human being is fair game. If a figure from American history was important enough to be immortalized in bronze, the left will find some reason to justify vandalizing it or even tearing it down.

But the people toppling these statues are amateurs. It doesn’t take any skill to destroy a historical artifact from centuries or even decades ago. The real challenge is rewriting history you lived through yourself!

And so it is with Barack Obama’s #strangenewrespect for George W. Bush. Here he is expressing it during a “virtual grassroots fundraiser” for his former vice president, who also happens to be the presidential candidate he can no longer avoid endorsing:

“My predecessor, who I disagreed with on a whole host of issues, uh… still had a basic regard for… the rule of law and the importance of… our institutions of democracy, uh… on the world stage. There was still a sense that America needed to lead, and that that leadership, uh… meant that as imperfect as we might be, uh, there were certain ideals and values that we were gonna aspire to and advance, and that we cared about human rights, and we cared about, uh… battling against, uh… the oppression of peoples in distant lands.

And that we tried to uphold, uh, both in our own country but around the world certain core principles around, uh… rule of law and, uh… the universal dignity of people, uh… and the need for us to, uh, provide assistance to, uh, those who are suffering either from natural catastrophes or because of underdevelopment. Uh, a sense that our alliances were important, uh, and that we should stand up for, uh, democracy and human rights.

And, and so as, as challenging as those times were, and as much of a slog as it was to, uh… yank the economy out of the economic crisis that was, that it was in, and in some ways things were tougher, uh… in terms of financial system than they are today. But there was still a sense of, of… of a shared American idea that we could build on. Uh, and… what we have seen over the last couple of years is, uh, a White House enabled… by, uh… Republicans in Congress and a media structure that supports them. Uh… that has… not just differed in terms of policy, but has gone at the very foundations of who… we are and who we should be. Uh… that suggests facts don’t matter. Science doesn’t matter.”

If you couldn’t sit through that whole thing, in summary: Trump makes Obama miss George W. Bush.

Can you believe this guy was ever lauded for his ability to speak publicly? Poor Joe. Just for fun, watch that again, but focus on Biden’s face as he pretends to listen to Obama’s interminable babbling. He looks like a dog patiently waiting to hear his own name.

Anyway. Obama giving George Bush even the faintest of praise, or at least a smidgen less vitriol than he spews at current Republicans, should be amusing to anybody who lived through the Obama administration without falling under his alleged charms. All this guy did for eight long years was blame Bush whenever something went wrong. The economy sucks? Bush did it. Terrorists are killing Americans? It was Bush’s fault. Obama stubbed his toe? Thanks, George W. Bush!

And after another presidential administration or two, all the libs currently screaming at Donald Trump will look back on him differently too. “Remember Trump? Don’t get me wrong, I hated his guts, but at least he wasn’t as bad as this clown!”

This is why, even as someone who stays in the station whenever the Trump Train goes by, I can’t take these guys seriously either. Obama has lied every time I’ve heard him open his mouth, and now he’s lying about how he treated George W. Bush. And Biden seems grateful for a quick nap while Obama drones on and on.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva revealed Wednesday his plans to increase the issuance of concealed carry permits by 400 percent.

Getting a concealed carry permit in L.A. County has been difficult in past years, regardless of the sheriff in charge.

On February 14, 2013, Breitbart News reported that the carry permits may have been disproportionately given to friends and donors of Sheriff Lee Baca.

LA Weekly noted that people securing the hard-to-come-by permits included:

Emerson Glazer: the son of the man who developed the Del Amo Fashion Center mall in Torrance, gave Baca “basketball tickets and gift baskets.”

Stan Shuster: the owner of a cigar room, gave Baca “shirts and golf balls.”

Michael Yamaki: “is among Baca’s best friends.”

George Chilingar: gave Baca $750 worth of Persian rugs.

Hollywood producer Arnold Kopelson: “gave Baca ballet tickets in 2004″

Singer James Darren: “gave Baca some CDs and a photograph.”

Jeweler Nagapet Boyadgian: “gave Baca a $500 contribution in 2010.”

Arthur Kassel: “hosted a birthday party for Baca.”

On December 26, 2017, Breitbart News reported that an audit by the California State Auditor showed there were only 197 concealed carry permit holders in Los Angeles county. At that time the county had a population of 10.2 million, and only 197 of those residents were permitted to carry a handgun for self-defense.

But in the current climate, where residents feel endangered in their neighborhoods and where rioters set fire to police vehicles in the street, Sheriff Villanueva is making clear he plans on increasing the issuance of concealed carry permits.

Fox LA’s Bill Melugin tweeted: “L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said he expects to begin increasing the amount of concealed carry permits he issues by as much as 400%. CCWs are notoriously difficult to obtain in LA.”

Google Employees Uncover Ongoing Work on Censored China Search

Google employees have carried out their own investigation into the company’s plan to launch a censored search engine for China and say they are concerned that development of the project remains ongoing, The Intercept can reveal.

Late last year, bosses moved engineers away from working on the controversial project, known as Dragonfly, and said that there were no current plans to launch it. However, a group of employees at the company was unsatisfied with the lack of information from leadership on the issue — and took matters into their own hands.

The group has identified ongoing work on a batch of code that is associated with the China search engine, according to three Google sources. The development has stoked anger inside Google offices, where many of the company’s 88,000 workforce previously protested against plans to launch the search engine, which was designed to censor broad categories of information associated with human rights, democracy, religion, and peaceful protest.

In December, The Intercept reported that an internal dispute and political pressure on Google had stopped development of Dragonfly. Google bosses had originally planned to launch it between January and April of this year. But they changed course after the outcry over the plan and indicated to employees who were working on the project that it was being shelved.

Google’s Caesar Sengupta, an executive with a leadership role on Dragonfly, told engineers and others who were working on the censored search engine in mid-December that they would be allocated new projects funded by different “cost centers” of the company’s budget. In a message marked “confidential – do not forward,” which has been newly obtained by The Intercept, Sengupta told the Dragonfly workers:

Sources with knowledge of Dragonfly said staff who were working on the project were not told to immediately cease their efforts. Rather, they were instructed to finish up the jobs they were doing and then they would be allocated new work on other teams. Some of those who were working on Dragonfly were moved into different areas, focusing on projects related to Google’s search services in India, Indonesia, Russia, the Middle East, and Brazil.

But Google executives, including CEO Sundar Pichai, refused both publicly and privately to completely rule out launching the censored search engine in the future. This led a group of concerned employees — who were themselves not directly involved with Dragonfly — to closely monitor the company’s internal systems for information about the project and circulate their findings on an internal messaging list.

The employees have been keeping tabs on repositories of code that are stored on Google’s computers, which they say is linked to Dragonfly. The code was created for two smartphone search apps — named Maotai and Longfei — that Google planned to roll out in China for users of Android and iOS mobile devices.

The employees identified about 500 changes to the code in December, and more than 400 changes to the code between January and February of this year, which they believe indicates continued development of aspects of Dragonfly. (Since August 2017, the number of code changes has varied between about 150 to 500 each month, one source said.) The employees say there are still some 100 workers allocated to the “cost center” associated with Dragonfly, meaning that the company is maintaining a budget for potential ongoing work on the plan.

Google sources with knowledge of Dragonfly said that the code changes could possibly be attributed to employees who have continued this year to wrap up aspects of the work they were doing to develop the Chinese search platform.

“I still believe the project is dead, but we’re still waiting for a declaration from Google that censorship is unacceptable and that they will not collaborate with governments in the oppression of their people,” said one source familiar with Dragonfly.

Colin McMillen, who worked as a software engineer at Google for nine years, quit the company in early February. He told The Intercept that he had been concerned about Dragonfly and other “ethically dubious” decisions, such as Google’s multimillion-dollar severance packages for executives accused of sexual harassment.

China’s controversial Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydropower project in the world, has drawn scrutiny for its structural flaws and environmental damage ever since its construction was first proposed in the 1950s.

As torrential rainstorms are currently sweeping through half of China, a hydrology expert warns that the dam could collapse under the added pressure, endangering the lives of millions who reside nearby.

Widespread flooding has affected at least 11.2 million people in 26 Chinese provinces and municipalities across central and southern China since heavy rainfall began wreaking havoc in early June. More than 9,300 houses have tumbled and 171,000 others have sustained damage. The financial damage has surpassed 24.1 billion yuan ($3.4 billion), according to local authorities.

The record rainfall is forecasted to continue for another 10 days.

In Guizhou, a mountainous province in China’s southwest, the stormwater at one point rose to 16 feet higher than acceptable thresholds.

The flooding in Yanhe County caused water to cascade over a bridge and wash away houses underneath.

Senate Democrats question independence of Trump's CIA nominee

WASHINGTON — Democratic U.S. senators on Wednesday questioned whether President Donald Trump’s nominee to be CIA inspector general could act independently, after the president dismissed several officials responsible for investigating fraud and abuse at federal agencies.

“I’ll be looking today for you to explain why we can trust you to be independent in how you go about your responsibilities,” Senator Mark Warner, Democratic vice chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, told Peter Thomson at his confirmation hearing.

Trump has dismissed a series of government watchdogs in recent months. Members of Congress, including some of Trump’s fellow Republicans as well as Democrats, are concerned the dismissals will prevent independent, adequate oversight of the government.

Thomson, an attorney from New Orleans who spent 23 years as a federal prosecutor, would be the first confirmed inspector general at the Central Intelligence Agency in years.

The agency has not had a permanent inspector general since 2015, and the last acting CIA inspector general resigned two years ago.

There is also no confirmed IG for the entire intelligence community. In April, Trump fired Michael Atkinson from the position over his handling of a whistleblower complaint that helped trigger Trump’s impeachment late last year.

Thomson was questioned about Trump’s criticism of the intelligence community and assertions by the president and his allies that there is a “Deep State” conspiring against the president.

Thomson said he did not know how to respond. “I honestly don’t know what is meant by ‘Deep State,'” he told Senator Angus King, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.

Thomson promised independence, saying, “No one from the White House ever gave me any kind of a litmus test or loyalty test to the president at all.”

Republican Senator Marco Rubio, the intelligence committee’s acting chairman, said he would move quickly toward Thomson’s confirmation vote in the full Republican-controlled Senate.

Owosso barber aids petition drive to limit Whitmer's powers

Lansing — Karl Manke, the Owosso barberwho defied Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home ordersis helping with a new petition campaign that wants to limit her unilateral emergency powers.

Through the state's initiative process, a committee called Unlock Michigan hopes to gather 340,047 valid petition signatures to repeal a 1945 law that allows the governor to declare a state of emergency and keep it in place without input from the Legislature.

If the committee can hit the signature threshold in a 180-day period, its repeal proposal would need votes from the Republican-controlled House and Senate but not the signature of the Democratic governor to become law.

"Any attempt to strip away the powers of the governor during this crisis is irresponsible, dangerous and foolish," Whitmer said during a press conference last week.

But Fred Wszolek, a Republican political consultant and spokesman for Unlock Michigan, countered that under the current reading of the law, any person could become governor and decree a state of emergency for the four-year term because of a "hailstorm."

"The Whitmer administration is going to say we don’t need politics as part of emergency management. We’ve got evidence of the need for her to listen to more voices," said Wszolek, who referenced the spread of the virus in Michigan nursing homes.

The state of emergency declaration is what gives the governor the unilateral power to issue stay-at-home orders or to close specific businesses, like gyms. Currently, there are two state laws that allow a governor to declare a state of emergency.

There's a 1976 law, the Emergency Management Act, under which the governor can declare an emergency but must get the approval of the Legislature to continue it after 28 days.

Then, there's the 1945 law, the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act, which doesn't include a timeline for the Legislature to have a say and appears to allow the governor to decide when to rescind an emergency declaration.

Unlock Michigan would leave the 1976 law in place but repeal the 1945 law.

The Republican-controlled Michigan House and Senate have challenged Whitmer's use of both laws to declare emergencies. The case is pending in the Court of Appeals after Judge Cynthia Stephens ruled in May that Whitmer had the authority to continue Michigan's state of emergency without the Legislature's approval under the 1945 law.

Melania Trump Blasts Food Network Host Over Barron Dig

Melania Trump, the first lady, issued a rare public rebuke directed at a host on the Food Network for what she called an “inappropriate” joke on Father’s Day at the expense of her 14-year-old son.

John Henson, a comedian who hosts a Halloween-themed cooking show, took to Twitter to write, “I hope Barron [Trump] gets to spend today with whoever his dad is.”

The cheap shot was widely panned online. Stephanie Grisham, the spokeswoman for the first lady’s office, told the Hill, “Sadly we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the President’s son. As with every other administration, a minor child should be off-limits and allowed to grow up with no judgment or hate from strangers and the media.”

People magazine pointed out that the tweet was deleted.

But of course, that’s not the reality. President Trump and his family have been the focus of constant barrage from haters in the news and entertainment media.

The recent non-fallout from Jimmy Kimmel’s history of blackface and use of the N-word is a prime example of how the left in the media will not face the wrath of “cancel culture,” which is reserved for conservatives.

Henson’s response to the fallout is also typical of a left-wing host who refuses to admit wrongdoing.

“The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barron’s name doesn’t mean it’s at his expense,” he said. “Although I respect your right to take issue with it.”

The New York Post said a representative for Henson did not immediately comment for the article.

Miranda Devine, a columnist for the paper, criticized the network and said Henson “should be ashamed of himself” for targeting a teen who is already the focus of so much attention.

“It’s utterly despicable that a Food Network host would use Father’s Day to target a child, a 14-year-old boy who has done nothing wrong. He has no choice about who is family is.”

This is not the first time Barron Trump was targeted. Pamela Karlan, a Stanford Law School professor, joked during a congressional hearing in December, “The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son ‘Barron,’ he can’t make him a baron.”

She later apologized after being called out by the first lady.

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI)plans to have two or three manufacturing plants for each vaccine, capable of producing 4 billion doses a year.

An influential foundation focused on preparation and response to epidemics that is backing nine potential coronavirus vaccines has identified manufacturers with capacity to produce four billion doses a year, the group's top manufacturing expert told Reuters.

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI)plans to have two or three manufacturing plants for each vaccine, James Robinson, a longtime biopharma executive leading CEPI'S vast manufacturing push, said in an interview.

"Right now, we know we can do the two billion doses that we have as our kind of our minimum target" by the end of 2021, he said.

The group is planning for eight to 10 regional distribution sites "so that we don't have to make everything centrally and try and ship it around the world," he said.

Even with no existing approved vaccines, CEPI is already getting manufacturing and supply chains lined up in a quest to ensure coronavirus vaccines are distributed equitably around the globe.

The Oslo, Norway-based group is backed by 14 governments, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Britain's Wellcome Trust.

CEPI has deployed up to $829 million so far in the search for a COVID-19 vaccine through partnerships with nine developers, with the hope that at least some will be successful.

They are Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc, the University of Queensland with CSL Ltd, CureVac, Moderna Inc with U.S. government backing, Novavax Inc, the University of Oxford with AstraZeneca, Clover Biopharmaceuticals, the University of Hong Kong, and a consortium led by Institut Pasteur and including the

University of Pittsburgh and Themis Bioscience, which was recently purchased by Merck & Co.

Robinson said CEPI has taken initial steps toward securing manufacturing capacity with more than 200 biopharma or sterile vaccine production companies.

"Most people don't believe that four billion is possible. I do," he said.

Robinson, a manufacturing consultant who has worked at some of the world's biggest vaccine companies including Sanofi and Merck, said his group has done "matchmaking" based on manufacturers' capabilities and the specific needs of the various vaccines.

Effective vaccines are seen as critical to stopping a pandemic that has infected more than 9.3 million people and killed nearly 480,000 globally with little sign of letting up.

CEPI is taking care to ensure that the work to produce a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 does not sideline other critical vaccines. That has been a particular concern in less developed countries, Robinson said.

Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and the first black billionaire, mocked Cancel Culture and the “borderline anarchists” who topple statues and monuments, claiming that black people “laugh” at the white people engaging in such violence. Even when white liberals topple a Confederate statue, Johnson insisted, “black people don’t give a damn.”

“Look, the people who are basically tearing down statues, trying to make a statement are basically borderline anarchists, the way I look at it,” Johnson told Fox News on Wednesday. “They really have no agenda other than the idea we’re going to topple a statue.”

The first black billionaire, who has called for $14 trillion in reparations payments to descendants of slavery, argued that vandalism and attacks on statues do not help the black community.

“It’s not going to give a kid whose parents can’t afford college money to go to college. It’s not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it’s not going to take people off welfare or food stamps,” Johnson insisted.

He insisted that the rioters tearing down statues “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying, ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South.'”

“You know, black people, in my opinion, black people laugh at white people who do this the same way we laugh at white people who say we got to take off the TV shows,” Johnson added. He said these attempts to purge American culture of supposedly offensive monuments and media are “tantamount to rearranging the deck chairs on a racial Titanic.”

“It absolutely means nothing,” the BET founder insisted.

“White Americans seem to think that if they just do sort of emotionally or drastic things that black people are going to say, ‘Oh my God, white people love us because they took down a statue of Stonewall Jackson.’ Frankly, black people don’t give a damn,” he quipped.

The BET founder did not even address the fact that rioters have not stopped at Confederate monuments. Cancel Culture iconoclasts have vandalized and toppled statues of Union generals along with national heroes like Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. They even vandalized statues of Mahatma Gandhi and the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, the first black Union volunteers.

Black people may not “give a damn” about this wanton destruction, but President Donald Trump has announced he will lay down the law to stop the vandals and statue-topplers. These “borderline anarchists” will face up to 10 years in prison if they cross state lines to destroy statues or if they target monuments maintained by the federal government.

Socal anon, today's Central California earthquake strikes me as unusual. First indication was it was broadcast on amber alert cell phone system but a larger quake two weeks ago was not despite being closer to large cities.

Second is the depth and clustering of initial quake and aftershocks. The location is Owens Valley which Los Angeles has sucked dry of water to divert to the city. There should be a pumping station nearby, will dig for location. The depth is quite shallow in an area I expect a deep sediment as the valley is between the Sierra Nevada and Panamint ranges. All of the earthquakes above 2.5m and almost all at any magnitude cluster within the lakebed which is now a salt or borax flat. Someone's DUMB disappear today? Seems like an ideal spot especially if that is a salt deposit.

Why Disney Plus’ July 4 streaming of ‘Hamilton’ is historic

The film version of the Broadway musical could change both the service and the larger world of streaming

When Lin-Manuel Miranda posted the trailer for the new “Hamilfilm” on Twitter on Sunday night, it quickly blew up bigger than a Hamilton-Jefferson rap battle. By the next afternoon, more than 220,000 people had liked the tweet from the “Hamilton” creator, with the trailer generating 4.2 million views.

It would be hard to imagine that any more cultural or economic meaning could be wrung out of “Hamilton.” The rap-driven Broadway musical about the Founding Fathers and Mothers that opened in 2015 swept the Tonys, sold out soundtracks and world tours, grossed more than half a billion dollars in New York alone and ignited a full-blown renaissance for Broadway musicals among teenagers.

If the “Hamilfilm” succeeds, he and others say, it could accelerate the trend, spurring streamers to change their longstanding strategy.

This is true in part because producing new binge-worthy shows can be expensive and a large ask for customers in a world of content overload. Also important: the payoff for the streamer comes much more slowly.

HBO Max executives recently went beyond series to sign up the “Friends” reunion special, a unique stand-alone event they hope people can’t say no to. The move sits in sharp contrast to more traditional material like an “Insecure” or a “Search Party,” which aim to build an audience slowly and then immerse it in dozens of episodes over years of viewing.

“Streaming is reinventing the wheel,” said Forrester’s Nail, borrowing “the concept of ‘tentpole’ events like the Super Bowl and awards programs,” even though it deviates from its own usual devotion to repeat engagement.

Basically, executives hope consumers take note of a service when a spectacle debuts, then come back when they remember it served them well.

But analysts wonder whether the streaming world is wide enough for the experiment. The attention, they say, may not justify the cost.

And the stand-alone nature of a show could make viewers drop the service after they watch it.

“The question I have is what long-term effect ‘Hamilton’ will have on a Disney Plus — not on whether people come but whether they stay,” said Rayburn, the streaming expert.

Some believe that’s what’s likely to happen with “Hamilton.”

“In the absence of original programming because of the production shutdown and the absence of the movie pipeline because of the theater shutdown, Disney didn’t have a lot of alternatives to keep people interested and subscribed,” Greenfield said.

He said the airing is less about a fresh recruitment approach than a need to survive in desperate times.

“This isn’t about new people. This is about feeding the beast. The beast is starving."

Guterres and Mideast envoy urge Israel to abandon plan to annex parts of the West Bank, as EU members of Security Council warn of diplomatic 'consequences'

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Nickolay Mladenov, the UN special envoy for the Middle East, called on Israel on Wednesday to abandon its plans to annex settlements in the occupied West Bank, warning that it threatened the prospects for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. A joint statement by several EU current and incoming members of the UN Security Council also said that annexation would have diplomatic consequences and would not be recognized by them.

"If implemented, annexation would constitute a most serious violation of international law, grievously harm the prospect of a two-state solution and undercut the possibilities of a renewal of negotiations," Guterres told the UN Security Council. "I call on the Israeli government to abandon its annexation plans," Guterres said.

The joint statement from the current and incoming EU members of the council – Germany, Belgium France, Estonia, Ireland, the U.K., and Norway – stated that annexation "would have consequences for our close relationship with Israel and would not be recognized by us."

Mladenov meanwhile warned that annexation "will send one message and one message alone – bilateral negotiations cannot achieve a just peace. We cannot allow this to happen. No good can come out of the breakdown of dialogue and communications. Diplomacy must be given a chance."

He added that annexation "could dramatically alter local dynamics, triggering instability among the occupied Palestinian territory. This conflict has been marked by periods of extreme violence, but never before has the risk of escalation been accompanied by a political horizon so distant, an economic situation so fragile and a region so volatile."

James Cleverly, the U.K.'s minister of state for the Middle East and North Africa in the Foreign Office, told the Security Council that "annexation cannot go unanswered."

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft told the council: "I understand that many of you have concerns with this issue of the potential extension of Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank. At the same time, we ask that you also hold the Palestinian leadership accountable for acts they are responsible for."

Australia's coronavirus death toll rises after 'reclassification' as Sydney school closes due to positive test

The number of coronavirus fatalities in NSW has climbed to 51, after an 85-year-old man's cause of death was reclassified to be due to COVID-19.

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said the man died on April 27 at the Opal Bankstown aged-care facility.

"The clinical treating doctor diagnosed COVID as contributing, so in accordance with the national guidelines, we've included that as a death and that has been updated," Dr Chant said.

It means Australia's coronavirus death toll is now 104.

Meanwhile, a school on Sydney's lower north shore has been closed for cleaning after a Year 2 student tested positive to coronavirus.

NSW Health said the student was from Lane Cove West Public School, and last night told parents to keep their children home while contact tracing could take place.

Dr Chant said was believed the child, 7, may have caught the virus through community transmission.

"It does highlight that we have evidence of local transmission of COVID-19, albeit at very low levels," she said.

"We are searching for the source of that infection but ... this virus can circulate in the community where it is hard to track down those chains of transmission."

Dr Chant said the child developed symptoms on Saturday but authorities closed the school as a precaution.

It is the fourth COVID-19 case at a school in Sydney in the past month, and comes amid dwindling NSW community transmission of the virus.

NSW Education Department deputy secretary Murat Dizdar said: "We're working with NSW Health today and Lane Cove West public school to identify the close contacts of this particular student."

"NSW Health will be making contact with those particular individuals and their families and provide them with the appropriate advice."

Lima man sentenced to nearly 42 years in prison for sex trafficking minor girl

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A registered sex offender was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 500 months in prison for crimes related to sex trafficking a 14-year-old girl.

Nicholas Salvadore Cochran, 28, of Lima, Ohio, pleaded guilty in January 2020 to one count of sex trafficking a minor, and one count of committing a sex offense against a minor as a registered as a sex offender.

As part of his sentence, Cochran will pay full restitution to the victim and others impacted by the crimes, remain under court supervision for the rest of his life, pay a fine determined by the court and pay special assessments of $10,200.

“While unthinkable to most of us, sex trafficking of children is real and organized,” said U.S. Attorney David M. DeVillers. “We must recognize the unthinkable and report suspicious activity for the sake of our most vulnerable. I would like to tell you that this is an isolated incident. It is not.”

Cochran was arrested on Aug. 9, 2019, as part of Operation Independence Day – a nationwide FBI-led operation to identify and arrest sex traffickers and recover child victims. He has been in custody since his arrest. A federal grand jury indicted him on Sept. 6, 2019.

'“The selling of a human being for the purpose of sex is Stephen King-level evil,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said. “I am proud of Jennifer Rausch and our federal and local partners for bringing this case to a just conclusion.”

I posted earlier an analysis from a crypto perspective of the sequence of colored squares:

I tried converting the resulting sequences to a bunch of bases and character sets, but I did not see anything obvious. However, let's the Hive Mind have at it, if others are interested.

To recapitulate, there is a sequence of 120 squares of 3 different colors. So that's a base-3 number with 3 digits.

Now, there are 3 colors, so there are 6 ways of associating 0, 1 and 2 to the 3 colors:

- by columns or by rows

- from left to right, or from right to left

- from top to bottom, or from bottom to top

That's 2x2x2 possibilities.

So when you combine the 2 combinatorics above, that gives 48 possible base-3 numbers, which look like sequences of 0s, 1s and 2s.

First I generated these 48 sequences. They are in the file 'seqs_orig.txt' attached in a next message (I cannot attach it directly, 8kun will not permit it).

Then, I wrote programs that, starting from these sequences:

- can translate them into any other base greater than 2 (i.e. 3+)

- can use a given character set (e.g. 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz' or 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789') to see if something that makes sense appears. To do so, it measures the length of your character set(e.g. 26 and 62 for the previous sets), creates the sequences in the base equal to that length, and then uses the character set as an alphabet to translate the sequences in the new base.

I tried a bunch of things, but I did not see words or anything particular come up.

I provide the results in base 16 below, because they can be used as decryption keys, in case that's what this is about.

I programmed in common-lisp, but as it's a complicated language, and not easy to use if you do not know it, I rewrote it quickly as a shell script. To run it, you need 'zsh' and 'bc' (works on linux, don't know about windows and mac). Shell code is an ugly language, but it works, and I do not know widely used languages (e.g. python) well enough.

To run it, launch a zsh shell, make a directory, copy the files 'source-code.zsh' and 'seqs_orig.txt' given in the next messages to that directory, and run the command (look at the source code first, as you should, but you'll see it's very simple code):

Then, you can use it with commands such as:

Wray Has ‘Serious Concerns’ About Comey FBI’s Investigation Of Michael Flynn

FBI Director Christopher Wray said in an interview aired Wednesday that he has “serious concerns” about how the bureau handled the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“I will say….the Flynn investigation, which took place before I started, and by the time I started was in the hands of the special counsel’s office, is something that has in my view raised serious concerns and questions,” Wray told Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Wray noted that he has appointed the FBI’s inspection division to “take a look at whether or not the FBI’s policies and procedures need to be changed and if there are any current employees left to may bear any responsibility for misconduct.”

Wray’s remarks are his most pointed criticism to date of the FBI’s investigation of Flynn, which started when Jim Comey served as director.

Wray gave the interview before a federal appeals court directed a federal judge to comply with the Justice Department’s request to drop charges against Flynn.

The Justice Department filed a motion on May 7 to withdraw charges against Flynn for making false statements to the FBI during a Jan. 24, 2017 interview regarding his contacts weeks earlier with Sergey Kislyak, who then served as Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Jensen to review the Flynn investigation after the retired general’s lawyers accused prosecutors of withholding exculpatory evidence in the case.

Jensen’s review turned up an FBI memo from Jan. 4, 2017 that recommended closing a counterintelligence investigation against Flynn over possible links to Russia.

Peter Strzok, the former deputy chief of counterintelligence at the FBI, intervened to keep the investigation open.

Strzok was fired from the FBI in August 2018, during Wray’s tenure. Wray also approved the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who played a key role in the Flynn investigation.

McCabe was fired after the Justice Department inspector general and FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility determined that he displayed a lack of candor regarding his authorization of media leaks in October 2016 regarding an ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

Pew Research: Only 1-in-6 Protesters Are Black, 46 Percent Are White

Only about one-in-six protesters over the last month are black Americans, while the plurality are white, according to Pew Research Center analysis.

Though recent protests and riots have been centered around racial tensions with law enforcement, only 17 percent of protesters have been black, while 46 percent are white, 22 percent are Hispanic, and eight percent are Asian, the analysis shows.

The data reveals that black Americans are not the largest minority group represented in the protests.

The protesters are overwhelmingly Democrats as well. Almost four-in-five of the protesters said they are Democrats or Democrat-leaning voters. Less than 17 percent of the protesters said they are Republicans.

Protests in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon; Washington, D.C.; and New York City, New York have been dominated by Antifa members and Black Lives Matter activists. In a newly resurfaced video from 2015, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors reveals that she and her fellow BLM founders are “trained Marxists.”

In the video, Cullors is interviewed by Jared Ball of the Real News Network and discusses the direction of the BLM movement.

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said. “We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk.”

In previous interviews in 2018, while promoting her then-new book titled, “When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir,” Cullors describes her introduction to and affinity for Marxist ideology.

In an interview with Democracy Now!, Cullors describes how she became a trained organizer with the Labor/Community Strategy Center, calling it her “first political home” and the center’s director, Eric Mann, her personal mentor.

She told The Politic that it was there that she was trained from her youth and grew as a leader.

The Labor/Community Strategy Center describes it’s philosophy as “an urban experiment,” utilizing grassroots organizing to “focus on Black and Latino communities with deep historical ties to the long history of anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, pro-communist resistance to the U.S. empire.”

The center teaches and studies the history of the “Indigenous rebellions against the initial European genocidal invasions,” the “Great Slave Haitian Revolution of the 1790s,” and the “Great Slave Rebellions that won the U.S. civil war for the racist north.”

The center also expresses its appreciation for the work of the U.S. Communist Party, “especially Black communists,” as well as its support for “the great work of the Black Panther Party, the American Indian Movement, Young Lords, Brown Berets, and the great revolutionary rainbow experiments of the 1970s,” while flaunting its roots in the new communist movement.

I hope every single serious anon including Neon Revolt - especially you Neon - understands the importance of what Q just laid out here. We have been given the counterinsurgency (COIN) plan regarding information warfare to counter the 16 year plan insurgency. This is putting a loosely constructed COIN information warfare infrastructure into a more organized context that is just as important as all other COIN warfighting that the white hats are executing during the insurgency. One of the single most important requirements of COIN is to fight against the insurgent ideology with a countering ideology. I will admit that this needs work, but it should be noted and understood in importance to the overall effort.

Basically, they looked at doctors performing surgery, and tested their oxygen saturation and pulse rates before and after doing surgery. Since masks are currently required when performing surgery, they used a unmasked control in similar rooms.

The link is to the full text, but basically, oxygen saturation went down about 1%, while pulse increased about 5-10 BPM after surgery.

Although decrease in both mental - physical performance and accuracy may sometimes be overcome by the motivation of the surgeon, increased fatigue is common in lengthy operations. The increased endogenous heat production of the surgeon, as well as many aspects of the operating room situation -even the close environment beneath the surgical mask- may also negatively affect the working condition of the surgeon.

Surgical masks may impose some measurable airway resistance, but it seems doubtful if this significantly increases the process of breathing. Although it might have appeared to be likely that hypoxemia results from the increased CO2 content of the inspired air due to the exhaled CO2 getting trapped beneath the surgical face mask; there has been no controlled study concerning with the effect of surgical masks on the level of blood oxygenation.

In this study we have measured the oxygen saturation of arterial pulsations (SpO2 ) by a pulse oximeter and found a statistically significant decrease in the blood O2 saturation level of the surgeons post operationally, which is not due to prolonged standing or stress.

The study paints the increased CO2 as negative, and may be during a task like surgery that is demanding, but I see this as very good news for those of use that want a cheap, easy, and safe way to increase CO2.

Personally, I've worn the mask during the day for about 40 minutes two days now. The first day, I noticed a burst of energy about 10 minutes after removing the mask. Today, my fingers got noticeably warmer when I had the mask on. I also wore it to bed last night. Wasn't that odd, not uncomfortable at all, although didn't notice anything different in the morning.

I find this way easier (and so far, more effective) than bag breathing.

Apple CEO Tim Cook says he is “deeply disappointed” with President Donald Trump’s June 22 decision to shut down some of the visa worker pipelines that prevent Americans from getting jobs at Silicon Valley tech companies.

“Deeply disappointed by this proclamation,” Cook said June 23. “Like Apple, this nation of immigrants has always found strength in our diversity, and hope in the enduring promise of the American Dream. There is no new prosperity without both.”

But America’s voters jeered and scoffed at Cook’s high-minded defense of the pipelines, which allow tech leaders to fill up their companies with blocs of compliant, controllable, and silent foreign workers instead of independent and free-speaking American professionals.

The responses echo the poll-tested public support for Trump’s hire American-first agenda, which is far more popular than the Cold War-era claim that Americans’ homeland is somehow a “Nation of Immigrants.”

Apple’s most recent hiring report shows how the company’s hiring of Asian visa workers is squeezing out Americans.

Asians filled 35 percent of technical jobs in 2018, up from 23 percent in 2014. That left 17 percent of technical jobs to non-white minorities and just 40 percent of jobs to white tech graduates. In 2014, 54 percent of technical jobs were held by whites, 15 percent by non-white minorities, and eight percent were not identified.

Very few visa workers are hired for lower-wage retail jobs, ensuring that blacks and Latinos hold 36 percent of the slots in 2018. American Asians hold eight percent, and U.S. whites hold 51 percent. In 2014, whites had 59 percent of the jobs and non-white minorities, six percent to Asians, 27 percent went to non-white, non-Asian minorities, six percent to Asians, and eight percent were unidentified.

US reports RECORD jump in coronavirus cases as states mull tougher restrictions, blaming anything but packed protests

The US has broken its own record for the number of coronavirus cases recorded in a single day, with more than 38,000 new patients confirmed in the last 24 hours, topping a high set in April as some states see infections spike.

Some 38,672 new cases were reported on Wednesday, according to data collected by the Covid Tracking Project, breaking a previous record set on April 25 by 2,671 infections. The new milestone comes amid a resurgence of the virus across some regions of the country, particularly in southern states.

Florida, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, California and Missouri also each broke their own daily case records on Wednesday, the project’s data showed, added to 13 other states to do the same over the last five days.

California Governor Gavin Newsom reported an especially alarming figure during a presser on Wednesday, noting the state had seen a 69 percent jump in cases in the span of just two days, warning he may “revert back” to tougher containment measures. The governor of Texas has similarly reversed course, authorizing local officials to impose new restrictions on outdoor gatherings and to mandate face masks in public after an attempt to reopen last month.

India, China Swear Upon Past Agreements, New Confidence-Building Measures to Break Stand-off

India and China have been in a border stand-off along the 4,057km long Line of Actual Control since the last week of April. The tensions between the neighbours escalated last week when 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a violent face-off between the Indian Army and PLA.

After several rounds of diplomatic and military level talks, India’s East Asia Joint Secretary and the Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Oceanic Affairs from China have decided to “implement the understanding on disengagement and de-escalation that was reached by the Senior Commanders on 6 June”.

They have also decided upon “strictly abiding by the series of agreements signed by the two sides, to further strengthen confidence-building measures in the military field, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas”, besides implementing the consensus reached between the foreign ministers of the two countries on 17 June.

The diplomatic level meeting took place a day after the Indian Army had claimed that an agreement had been reached on disengagement during corps commander-level talks. While both sides agreed to maintain dialogue and promote peace and tranquility in the area, a timeline for the disengagement process wasn't finalised, the Indian Army said.

“The relevant measures are being coordinated and arranged by the border troops of the two countries on the ground. I have no further information to release", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian replied when asked about the claim made by the Indian Army about disengagement in the disputed areas.

Satellite images from Tuesday allegedly show a massive military build-up in the Ladakh region by China’s People’s Liberation Army along with India increasing its motorboat patrols in Pangong Tso.

On 15 June, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh following a violent face-off, resulting in heightened tensions between India and China. The Indian Army claimed that the face-off took place when their troops had gone to patrol point 14 in the Galwan Valley to ensure the disengagement of Chinese troops as per the 6 June talks.

The two countries have been involved in several talks at the military and diplomatic levels but none have restored peace along the Line of Actual Control yet.

Wray reveals FBI 'looking carefully' at foreign interference in protests following George Floyd's death

The FBI is "looking carefully" at the possibility that foreign actors are influencing the sometimes-violent nationwide protests in the wake of George Floyd's in-custody death, FBI Director Christopher Wray exclusively told Fox News' Bret Baier on Wednesday. Wray also revealed that "the FBI has over 2,000 active investigations that trace back to the government in China," marking "about a 1,300 percent increase in terms of economic espionage investigations with the Chinese nexus from about a decade ago." Also in the interview, Wray declined to directly answer whether he was personally "responsible for holding back from Congress" relevant materials concerning key documents, including some relating to former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The Daily Caller has reported, citing a source, that Wray was involved in withholding exculpatory evidence in Flynn's case. "We have certainly seen in the past a variety of foreign adversaries looking to amplify controversy in this country," Wray said. "And they use state media. They use social media. Some of that is through propaganda, some of that's through disinformation, some of that's through just fake information. And we are looking carefully at the prospect of foreign influence or foreign interference in all of the protests and activities that have occurred over the last few weeks." Wray's comments came amid a high-level push from the White House and Congress to end the destruction of statues and other monuments across the United States.

In May, former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice bizarrely suggested in a televised interview Sunday that the Russians could be behind the violent nationwide demonstrations, although she offered no evidence and admitted she's "not reading the intelligence these days." President Trump on Wednesday vowed to protect statues as some activists are calling for the toppling of monuments to former presidents, controversial historical figures and even Jesus Christ - after initially just targeting those of Confederate figures. Trump, who earlier in the day promised to sign an executive order by the end of the week to protect public statues and federal monuments, said that any continuation of the toppling of monuments “is not going to happen.” And, Indiana GOP Rep. Jim Banks said will be introducing legislation that would make desecrating memorials to "previous U.S. presidents or a Founding Father" a federal offence punishable up to 10 years in prison. The “Defending America’s Culture and Heritage Act” (DAHCA), would amend the Veterans’ Memorial Preservation and Recognition Act of 2003 to "include statues of former U.S. presidents and all those individuals who signed the Declaration of Independence."

"Look, equal justice is essential, but violence and destruction of federal property is not the way to get there," Wray said. "And if there are appropriate bases for federal investigations, we'll pursue them." China, Wray told Baier, is clearly engaged in a wide relay of malign activities including "pursuing a campaign of intellectual property theft economic espionage, cyber-intrusions that target businesses big and small - all across the country and our academic research institutions." The country's communist leaders employ "what we sometimes call non-traditional collectors which can be businessmen, high-level scientists, high-level academics – people like that." As Wray spoke to Baier, a federal appeals court ordered the case against former Trump administration national security advisor Michael Flynn dismissed, despite a judge's unilateral efforts to keep the case alive. The DOJ had sought to drop the case after explosive internal FBI documents unsealed in April showed that top bureau officials discussed their motivations for interviewing Flynn in the White House in January 2017 and openly questioned if their "goal" was "to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired." The handwritten notes written by the FBI's former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap - further suggested that agents planned in the alternative to get Flynn "to admit to breaking the Logan Act" when he spoke to then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period.

Surgical Masks Increase Pulse, Lower Oxygen Saturation From Rebreathing CO2

Basically, they looked at doctors performing surgery, and tested their oxygen saturation and pulse rates before and after doing surgery. Since masks are currently required when performing surgery, they used a unmasked control in similar rooms.

The link is to the full text, but basically, oxygen saturation went down about 1%, while pulse increased about 5-10 BPM after surgery.

Although decrease in both mental - physical performance and accuracy may sometimes be overcome by the motivation of the surgeon, increased fatigue is common in lengthy operations. The increased endogenous heat production of the surgeon, as well as many aspects of the operating room situation -even the close environment beneath the surgical mask- may also negatively affect the working condition of the surgeon.

Surgical masks may impose some measurable airway resistance, but it seems doubtful if this significantly increases the process of breathing. Although it might have appeared to be likely that hypoxemia results from the increased CO2 content of the inspired air due to the exhaled CO2 getting trapped beneath the surgical face mask; there has been no controlled study concerning with the effect of surgical masks on the level of blood oxygenation.

In this study we have measured the oxygen saturation of arterial pulsations (SpO2 ) by a pulse oximeter and found a statistically significant decrease in the blood O2 saturation level of the surgeons post operationally, which is not due to prolonged standing or stress.

The study paints the increased CO2 as negative, and may be during a task like surgery that is demanding, but I see this as very good news for those of use that want a cheap, easy, and safe way to increase CO2.

Personally, I've worn the mask during the day for about 40 minutes two days now. The first day, I noticed a burst of energy about 10 minutes after removing the mask. Today, my fingers got noticeably warmer when I had the mask on. I also wore it to bed last night. Wasn't that odd, not uncomfortable at all, although didn't notice anything different in the morning.

I find this way easier (and so far, more effective) than bag breathing.

Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome joined "The Story" Wednesday to discuss the direction of the movement in the wake of George Floyd's death in police custody and the subsequent demonstrations across the country, many of which have sparked destruction and violence. "You ... have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations," host Martha MacCallum told Newsome. "What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?" "Wow, it's interesting that you would pose that question like that," Newsome responded, "because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what's our diplomacy across the globe? "We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical."

MacCallum clarified that her question was based off comments she had heard Newsome utter in various interviews. "I said," Newsome told the host, "if this country doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking ... figuratively. I could be speaking literally. It's a matter of interpretation. "Let's observe the history of the 1960s, when black people were rioting," he went on. "We had the highest growth in wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks since we started protesting. There have been eight cops fired across the country." "I don't condone nor do I condemn rioting," Newsome added. "But I'm just telling you what I observed."

Later in the interview, Newsome insisted the Black Lives Matter movement is about "saving lives" and its adherents should be "applauded" for upholding the Second Amendment. "Nobody's talking about ambushing police officers. We're talking about protecting lives," he said. "There's nothing more American than that. We talk about uplifting and upholding the Second Amendment but it seems to be the hypocrisy of America that when black people start talking about arming themselves and defending themselves, [that] talk is 'violent'. But when white people grab assault rifles and go to our nation's, their state capitals, it's all good."

The interview took a turn after MacCallum read a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. and asked Newsome if he agreed with it. "Let us be dissatisfied," King told the Southern Christian Leadership Conference convention in 1967, "until that day when nobody will shout, 'White power!', when nobody will shout, 'Black power!', but everybody will talk about God's power and human power.'" "I love the Lord and my Lord and savior," Newsome responded to MacCallum's prompt. "Jesus Christ is the most famous black radical revolutionary in history. And he was treated just like Dr. King. He was arrested on occasion and he was also crucified or assassinated. This is what happens to black activists. We are killed by the government." At the conclusion of the interview, Newsome told MacCallum, "I just want black liberation and black sovereignty, by any means necessary."

Attorneys for the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons (AAPS), filed a lawsuit on Monday seeking the preliminary injunction to force the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), to release the drugs.

AAPS claims that nearly 100 million doses of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) were donated to these agencies, and yet they have not released virtually any of it to the public.

Dr. Anthony Fauci praises Gavin Newsom, stresses face masks in Sacramento Press Club chat

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s preeminent epidemic expert and the face of the national coronavirus response effort, had a stern response Wednesday to California’s recent uptick in cases amid reopening.

As the state’s reopening restrictions loosen, Fauci told virtual attendees at a Wednesday talk with the Sacramento Press Club that young people are contributing to the surge.

Young people, he said, “think that now that we’re opening, opening means all or none, black or white. Either no restrictions or lock-down. There’s a big difference between the two.”

So far, the California Department of Public Health has counted over 190,000 cases in the state and 5,632 deaths. These numbers have risen since Gov. Gavin Newsom announced gradual reopening guidelines.

Fauci praised Newsom’s handling of the virus at the state level, but stressed that what matters is the people’s response to state guidelines.

“I think California is starting to see little bits of surges at the community level as they’re opening up,” he said. “I know we’ve gotta get the population to realize that we’re all in this together.”

The Sacramento Press Club broadcast the free discussion live on Facebook Wednesday afternoon. Fauci tuned in from the National Institutes of Health in Washington.

California’s overall numbers of coronavirus cases are rising as the state tests more people. But a Bee analysis found that the rate of positive tests is also going up in much of the state, meaning the spread is worsening.

The infectious disease expert said he’s not “blaming” young people. But when they get together without masks or fail to stay six feet away, their actions can impact vulnerable populations. Masks are essential, he added.

“It’s so understandable, the urge and the need to get back to normal, especially since a lot of that centers around socialization with the people you care about. That’s such a natural instinct in life. Unfortunately, we have to put that aside a bit,” he said.

Fauci also addressed fears of potential about-face in reopening policy. Going back to lock-down, he said, isn’t really necessary — but a “pause” on opening up businesses could happen.

“The good news is that it will end, I promise you,” he said. “The sobering news is that we’ve got a lot of work to do to get there.”

Reformers want California police to stop using a gang database seen as racially biased

Police reform activists this week called on California’s top law enforcement officer to stop use of a secretive and problem-plagued database of suspected gang members, frustrated that it continues to function under rules they say disproportionately target Black and Latino men and that were ordered fixed by the state Legislature nearly three years ago.

The database, known as CalGang, is used by law enforcement agencies across the state to store names and personal details of nearly 90,000 people suspected of being active gang members or possibly associating with them.

In 2016, a state audit found that CalGang was riddled with questionable entries and errors such as the inclusion of year-old children. More recently, the LAPD has investigated officers accused of falsifying information in order to add people to the list. The department announced last week that it was suspending use of CalGang.

But the imposition of statewide regulations — which were legally mandated to be completed by Jan. 1, until California Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra extended the deadline for six months — is overdue, with no clear end in sight. This leaves CalGang functioning largely under old rules that some argue constitute racial profiling. Prompted by the protests over the death of George Floyd, police reform activists want to stop agencies from adding names or using existing names for investigations until the system is revised.

“Millions of people exercising their First Amendment rights these past weeks have demonstrated the insufficiency of the California Department of Justice’s actions to meet their longstanding demand that law enforcement treat everyone with respect and dignity,” read a letter sent Monday to Becerra and signed by more than three dozen organizations, including the ACLU. “Nowhere is that more true than in the department’s ineffective effort to reform law enforcement’s use of the CalGang database.”

Becerra’s office said Tuesday it was reviewing the letter and that “the rule-making process takes time.”

“The Legislature directed our office to develop regulations to improve the quality and integrity of CalGang, and the proposed regulations are intended to do just that,” the statement continued.

In 2017, state lawmakers passed a measure to place CalGang under the purview of Becerra’s Department of Justice. Becerra was charged with purging the database of old or inaccurate records and creating new rules for adding people. Advocates hoped those rules would diminish the ability of officers to use only subjective criteria, such as the color of clothing or the area in which a person is seen, as evidence of gang membership. While thousands of records were purged, thousands more have been added in recent years.

“They just crossed out where the deadline goes and put nothing in its place,” said Garcia-Leys. “The idea that this sort of policing would continue … for years after the Legislature put a stop to it is unacceptable.”

Reform advocates also are unhappy with the latest draft of proposed rules, which they argue leave too much discretion for officers. Garcia-Leys and others hope to tighten CalGang’s scope so that people in the orbit of suspected gang members, such as teachers, coaches and romantic partners, could not easily be included.

In a proposal last summer, Becerra suggested cutting back on the reasons a person could be added to CalGang. In December, he reversed on tightening regulations amid objections from law enforcement members, who argued that their expertise in gang identification should be taken into account and that such discretion was necessary because gangs have become more adept at evading scrutiny.

Law enforcement officials have said the database is a valuable tool for investigating gang crimes and presents little risk to those on it because the information cannot be used to initiate police action.

But on Friday, the LAPD announced its own moratorium on all entries into CalGang amid pushes for police reform. That came months after the department announced it was investigating officers from the LAPD’s Metropolitan Division for falsifying field interview cards and entering incorrect information to the database.

As of late May, 18 officers were under scrutiny in the probe.

“Based on recent audits and ongoing complaint investigations, the accuracy of the database has been called into question,” the department said in a statement announcing its suspension of CalGang. “To strengthen community trust and avoid any adverse impact on individuals, particularly in communities of color, the department will no longer use this resource.”

Forbes Caught in Blatant Censoring Act

If you need further proof that the mainstream media is censoring truthful news, look no further than Forbes’ June 7, 2020, article on a Norwegian report that claims to present proof that SARS-CoV-2 is a laboratory creation.

The article was initially published with the headline “Norway Scientist Claims Report Proves Coronavirus Was Lab-Made.” Shortly thereafter, that headline was altered to “Controversial Coronavirus Lab Origin Claims Dismissed by Experts.”

Forbes Pulls a 180

As revealed in the side-by-side screenshots below, the 180-degree turnaround is being justified by citing “scientific consensus on COVID-19” — a consensus that most certainly does not exist as of yet — and evidence showing SARS-CoV-2 is lab-created is being roundly dismissed as “rumor and conspiracy.” If this doesn’t show you just how complicit the media is driving a pre-established narrative, I don’t know what will.

Here's a sample of the changes. The original article states:

“The study from Sørensen and British professor Angus Dalgleish show that the coronavirus's spike protein contains sequences that appear to be artificially inserted. They also highlight the lack of mutation since its discovery, which suggests it was already fully adapted to humans.”

The updated article now reads:

“The authors of a British-Norwegian vaccine study — accepted by the Quarterly Review of Biophysics — claim that the coronavirus's spike protein contains sequences that appear to be artificially inserted.

In their paper, the Norwegian scientist Birger Sørensen and British oncologist Angus Dalgleish claim to have identified ‘inserted sections placed on the SARS-CoV-2 spike surface’ that explains how the virus interacts with cells in the human body. Virologists, however, note that similar sections appear naturally in other viruses.”

Why All-Natural Narrative Is so Important to Maintain

Undoubtedly, the fear of exposure is real, and if you see the words “consensus” or “conspiracy theory,” you are likely seeing an attempt at a cover-up. What are they afraid of?

Well, there are many reasons for protecting the narrative that SARS-CoV-2 is of a natural origin. If it is proven to be a lab creation, the public may demand biosafety/biowarfare research into dangerous pathogens be stopped.

Thousands of scientists involved in such research would lose their jobs if funding came to a halt and biosafety level 4 laboratories were to be shut down to prevent another global manmade pandemic from occurring. These laboratories pose probably one of the greatest of any threats to mankind, and we deserve to have a serious debate about their risks and benefits.

Aside from threatening the future of biosafety/biowarfare research in general, many could potentially face life in prison for violating the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989.

China, of course, has every reason to quell evidence that the pandemic originated in its first BSL4 laboratory, as it could be held legally responsible and restitution claims from affected nations would likely run in the trillions of dollars.

According to tech analyst Ray Wang, founder of Constellation Research Inc., colleagues within the Chinese scientific community told him they were prohibited from discussing the “new strain of flu” that had emerged in China in January 2020, because the Chinese Communist Party wanted to prevent the outbreak from becoming publicly known. According to Wang:

“Nobody wanted to talk about it because there was a dual-use lab. If you’re a government, you don’t want to hurt your own people either. Today, what’s actually happening is they are trying to cover up for that.”

SEATTLE — A collection of Seattle businesses, property owners and residents sued the city Wednesday over its tolerance of an “occupied” protest zone, saying officials have been complicit in depriving them of their rights to their property.

The plaintiffs - including a tattoo parlor, auto repair shop and property management firm - emphasized in the lawsuit that they were not trying to undermine the anti-police-brutality or Black Lives Matter messaging of the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest.”

“Rather, this lawsuit is about the constitutional and other legal rights of plaintiffs - businesses, employees, and residents in and around CHOP - which have been overrun by the city of Seattle’s unprecedented decision to abandon and close off an entire city neighborhood, leaving it unchecked by the police, unserved by fire and emergency health services, and inaccessible to the public at large,” the lawsuit said.

The Seattle City Attorney’s Office said it had not yet seen the lawsuit but would review it.

Mayor Jenny Durkan has expressed support for the protest, calling it “a peaceful expression of our community’s collective grief and their desire to build a better world,” and the city has helped it by providing different barricades to better protect participants from vehicles.

But following three shootings in the area on consecutive nights beginning last weekend, Durkan said this week the city would wind down the protest zone, at first by encouraging demonstrators to leave voluntarily, and that police would return to the precinct. But neither she nor Police Chief Carmen Best gave a specific timeline for when that would happen.

Patty Eakes, an attorney for the plaintiffs, separately told Durkan in a letter Wednesday that she wanted the mayor’s office to provide a timeline by Friday for clearing out the protest and returning police, or the plaintiffs would ask the court for an immediate order that full public access be restored.

Capitol Hill residents and businesses sue city of Seattle for failing to disband CHOP

A group of Capitol Hill residents and businesses filed a class-action lawsuit Wednesday against the city of Seattle for the “extensive harm” they’ve faced as a result of CHOP, or the Capitol Hill Organized Protest.

Demonstrators have occupied several blocks around the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct and Cal Anderson Park for about two weeks, since the police left the precinct following standoffs and clashes with protesters calling for racial justice and an end to police brutality.

Calfo Eakes LLP, the law firm representing the group, said in a statement the lawsuit is “not a step (their) clients have taken lightly,” adding that they stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and support demonstrators’ right to free speech and assembly. The plaintiffs include owners of apartment buildings in the area and local businesses such as Car Tender, Northwest Liquor and Wine, Sage Physical Therapy and Tattoos and Fortune. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

“This lawsuit does not seek to undermine CHOP participants’ message or present a counter-message,” the lawsuit says. “Rather, this lawsuit is about the constitutional and other legal rights of Plaintiffs … which have been overrun by the City of Seattle’s unprecedented decision to abandon and close off an entire city neighborhood, leaving it unchecked by the police, unserved by fire and emergency health services, and inaccessible to the public at large.”

In a statement to The Seattle Times, a spokesperson for the City Attorney’s office said they haven’t received the lawsuit yet, but when they do, they will “review it and respond accordingly.”

The lawsuit blames the city for aiding CHOP occupants by providing them with stronger barriers, public restroom facilities and medical supplies. It also mentions that residents and business owners now have difficulty accessing their buildings, receiving deliveries and providing services to customers, with elderly and disabled community members facing magnified obstacles.

“The result of the City’s actions has been lawlessness,” the Calfo Eakes statement said. “There is no public safety presence. Police officers will not enter the area unless it is a life-or-death situation, and even in those situations, the response is delayed and muted, if it comes at all.”

Residents and business owners feel unsafe in their neighborhood because of the lack of public-safety assistance, the lawsuit says, citing police’s delayed response times after recent shootings in the area. The complaint also lists individual businesses’ stories.

Car Tender, an auto repair shop on 12th Avenue, has suffered a “dramatic drop” in business since CHOP’s establishment, according to the lawsuit. A man also broke into the shop, started a fire and assaulted the owner’s son with a knife and spike last week, and police never responded despite multiple 911 calls, the lawsuit says. Seattle police Chief Carmen Best said last week that officers “observed the location from a distance” but did not see a disturbance, and could not reach the business owner when they tried to call.

Several other businesses are seeing financial losses due to CHOP, and in one of the apartment buildings, CHOP occupants trespassed on the property and defecated in the building’s lobby, according to the complaint.

A spokesperson for the mayor’s office said in a statement sent to The Seattle Times that city officials have been on the ground daily to “determine a path forward that protects the right to peacefully protest and keeps people safe.”

“Recognizing that solutions do not always require police, on the recommendation of community organizations … the City has stood-up a resource hub at Seattle Central College to provide services for individuals who may be living onsite or who visit the site daily, including mental and behavioral health, access to shelter/housing, testing and other essential needs,” the spokesperson said.

He added, “Over the coming days, City and community organizations will continue to work with individuals to encourage them to peacefully depart in the evening for their safety and the safety of the surrounding community, while also encouraging individuals to peacefully demonstrate across the City throughout the daytime hours.”

The law firm, on behalf of the group of businesses and residents, also sent a letter to Mayor Jenny Durkan on Wednesday, asking a series of questions: Does the city have a timeline for removing barricades from streets? When will “normal policing” return to the area? When will the Seattle Police Department resume residence in the East Precinct?

9 Arrested In Case Involving Mothers Selling Children Into Sex-Trafficking Ring In Exchange For Drugs

Nine people were arrested in Ohio in connection with a child sex trafficking ring which involved

drug-addicted mothers exchanging children to be sexually abused for drugs, the U.S. Attorney’s

Office in the Southern District of Ohio said in a statement Wednesday.

Larry Dean Porter, 69, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, allegedly gave illegal drugs to addicted parents

in exchange for access to children during what he called “babysitting.” In a sting operation by

law enforcement, Porter offered to pay $80 for access to a 7-year-old girl, saying he would “be

done around midnight,” the statement says.

The FBI affidavit showed Facebook messages from Porter discussing the transactions.

Irate customer erupts, gets into confrontation with county judge over mask rule at San Antonio store

A customer at a San Antonio home improvement store, upset because an employee told him he needed to wear a mask, got into a confrontation with County Judge Nelson Wolff, who just happened to be waiting in line nearby.

The customer, whose name has not been released, could be facing criminal charges, said Sheriff Javier Salazar.

“It was an assault,” Salazar said, “There’s no excuse for it. The employees of the store were really just trying to help this gentleman. The judge was really trying to help him.”

“There’s certainly no cause for assaulting a public servant that’s trying to do his job,” the sheriff said.

The county judge didn’t give interviews but spoke of the incident at the daily city-county COVID-19 briefing.

“People have a lot of anger in ‘em, and that certainly happened today,” he said. “I think he was having a pretty bad day, and he was angry.”

Wolff, who frequently goes to Lowe’s at Callahan and Interstate 10 to buy plants, issued the order that resulted in the mask requirement this week, something the 6’2”, 240-pound, middle-aged obviously knew, the sheriff said.

According to store video and witness accounts, the customer was at one of the registers when an employee told him about the new order requiring everyone to wear masks.

“The gentleman became irate,” Salazar said. “Judge Wolff did intervene. It appears Judge Wolff was just trying to be helpful.”

Monica Ramos, public information officer for the county, said the confrontation was harsh but that Wolff was OK.

“The man started to become extremely belligerent, was verbally abusive to this cashier,” Ramos said. “The judge saw what was going on, went over there to try to defuse the situation, try to assist, tried to explain the order. The man didn’t want to hear it.”

Wolff, 79, pulled out a business card to give the man, county officials said.

Salazar said the customer “actually smacked the piece of paper out of Judge Wolff’s hand.” Wolff then called the sheriff and put the call on speakerphone.

“I could hear this suspect just berating the judge,” Salazar said. “He knew exactly who he was, he knew exactly who he was dealing with, and he knew he was in violation of the judge’s order.”

The man darted out of the store, but Wolff followed him and wrote down his license plate number.

The county judge said he understands some people are angry over the mask mandate.

NASA announced Wednesday the agency’s headquarters building in Washington, D.C., will be named after Mary W. Jackson, the first African American female engineer at NASA.

“Mary W. Jackson was part of a group of very important women who helped NASA succeed in getting American astronauts into space.
