Getting every character, including Oracles, to level 999 in Re;Birth 2 took less time than I thought. I just need to complete all of Stella's Dungeon (omfg 10 hours for Neptral Tower, not even True Neptral Tower) and I'll have every achievement. Getting every accessory is going to take a lot longer, though.
I'm still around level 370 in Re;Birth 1 even though I have a somewhat similar playtime. I've only got around 20mil credits, and that's the last achievement I need.

R;B2 has the fastest grind of any of the Nep games thanks to the DLC dungeons giving an actual decent amount of EXP. R;B3 is back to an annoying grind, though still less so than R;B1's garbage.
At least people who got onto the series with Re;Birth will never know the true terror of grinding in Victory.

How much difference were the PS3 titles compared to the Re;Birth games? Other than the first game and Mk2 using 3D models, I don't know how bad they got. Other than getting the true end in Re;Birth 1 being annoying as fuck.

HDN1 is almost a completely different game from R;B1, with only parts of the narrative and the basic frame of it all matching up. Nothing gameplay related remains even close to the same.
mk2 isn't that different from R;B2, outside of the Share system in the PS3 version being far superior (Each Nation had its own Share bar, instead of one global one. This made it far easier to recruit the goddesses in Ch5 and made for less moving things around), the battle system being changed to Victory/R;B's, and the cutscenes as you mentioned. Oh, and of course the Maker swaps (And related removals of several Chirper events).
Victory had a Scout system that was the most horrific pain in the ass to work with that I can't be bothered to go in depth explaining. Let's just say that it involved copious amounts of RNG, walking in and out of dungeons, and did sort of similar things as Plans do in the Re;Birth games but only for one dungeon visit. It also lacked any reliable way to grind at all past 99, so you had to spend hours upon hours doing normal battles with stuff like the Cat Knights or Colosseum fights with extreme load times that barely gave EXP in order to hit 999.

Extremely. It's not like Victory had the Plan system either.
More or less, you had a menu where you could send out Scouts, which you started with a couple of. They each had their own stats and gained levels as they came back with information (I believe they only gained EXP if you accepted their report, which becomes a problem as I'll explain later). Each dungeon had its own "travel time", which meant that was the amount of "time" that had to pass for a Scout to come back with info while also being the amount of time that would pass for Scouts if you entered it. …which more or less just meant that you constantly went in and out of dungeons in order to get the reports.
You paid them different amounts of credits while sending them out to supposedly get better reports out of them but it's all RNG except for the items they could come back with being based on that amount paid so it's even more aggravating. When they returned they would either come back with some credits of their own, items (many of which were only obtainable via the Scout system), or trigger a change in the dungeon. Some of these changes made it into the Re;Birth games as item shift and enemy shift. Others included increased EXP and such.
The thing is, the Scouts could randomly be lying to you and then their report would actually have a negative effect. Also, you could send out a ton of them at one time, but you could only have one report active at once for any given dungeon. Yet the active reports went away on dungeon entry/exit anyways. So you always sent out a bunch of scouts to the same dungeon and mashed through the report screen until one of them gave the effect you actually wanted and then hoped they weren't lying.
Now, because this wasn't silly enough on its own, each dungeon also had a flag in it you had to physically go in and raise/lower to get different results. This would determine what items popped up for harvest shift, what level of stronger enemies there were, etc.
Oh yeah, since there was no Plan system, the numerous extra dungeons that you might know from R;B3 had to be unlocked by RNG. Scouts would have to report back saying they had found a dungeon, but it was very rare. Same with them coming back with other Scouts, one of the only ways to increase your Scout count.
As you can tell by my far too lengthy explanation it was a flat out mess that served to do nothing except give the player annoyances and I am incredibly thankful for Plans.

But I imagine Sony wants some exclusivity so I project that we will not see it on PC for 6 months at least. And since it's coming out in February, that would be around August. Although with two Nep games coming out on PC this year already, IFI might hold off a bit.

I told myself I wouldn't do it - I'd wait to see if the next game had a decent translation - but I did it anyway and have had my purity as Master Race stained after purchasing a PS4 in anticipation of V-II.
That being said, there's a lot of nice games for the PS4 as well - Until Dawn was terrific, I got into the Disgaea series at 5 and loved it, and I picked up Omega Quintet while it was on sale, gonna try that out after Dragon's Dogma.

Hi guys, BAD END writefag here with bad news.
First, as explained on /v/'s thread, I got stolen last weekend, during a week of paid vacation. I got back some of the stolen goods, but the rest include my PS3 and the Neptunia collection a friend gifted to me for my birthday, and the computer I was using was destroyed in a failed attempt to steal it too. Good thing the hard drive is intact, which means my stories and my Gear folder are intact.
That being said, I came back with another old computer which was offered to me during the trip, so I thought I could rely on it to counterbalance the loss, but said old computer got its motherboard roasted during the night, which means I'm forced onto a 10 years older computer.
Don't expect to see me a lot in the following weeks, then. I'm rather broken.

Reacquiring my losses will take time, though I'm already planning for that, which is hard since no jobs in Yuropoor and harder to do since the economical crisis, that last wave of immigration and all the problems that came with.
As for the one who did that, I have some friends, including one of my neighbors (who had his bike stolen too, guess it's a nigga), who are using the whole extent of their contacts to find the culprit, but the fact they went into my appartment without force (by the use of a double of my keys, which very few people have) helps a lot for their investigation.
I honestly hope they won't find him, though, or I might break him with such a strength than even Iris might fear.

Well, my guesses are it's not random at all. There was only one person in the building where I lived last weekend, said person is known to take drugs and to constantly need money, and nothing has been stolen from his home. Plus, my home door shows no signs of effraction, which means it has been opened with the key, and the building owner's stupid enough to have left two buildings with the same lock - His and mine, a thing I was the only one to know thus far. I'll let you make two and two together.
I'm still waiting for the other neighbor to confirm some searches, though, as he might know where went the rest of the stolen goods, and recover them before we strike. But the more I wait, the more I'm getting angry.

The computer was usually in a very hot place, it gathered lots of dust thanks to its original owner not taking care of its insides at all and smoking a lot right over it. Then it was not used for two good months before being used in a slightly cold place. I don't know if it's the change in temperatures, or the accumulation of dust before (as it was cleaned through and through before being used again), but it bit the dust right after the first usage here.

Update time.
Two of the remaining games have been sold on one of the shops I've had friends looking on. Said games have been frozen until police gets them to restituate them to me, and the description of the seller fits perfectly the suspected neighbor.
That being said, due to my visit to the police, they keep an eye on me in case I'd explode and thrash the hell out of it. So instead of doing it directly (can't say that word anymore without thinking about Iwata, thanks Nintendo Directs !), I relayed all the information I had on the other stolen neighbor, whom will act accordingly and bring back to me any of the stolen things he finds there, plus a compensation for anything he doesn't find.

The net is tightening on the thief. Quite frankly, I don't see the issue. Neptune is closer than ever to her original counterpart, and so is every other character. No longer are there added memespeak or distorted characters, like what happened with RB2 and 3, other than Nep.jr there is no issue with the way they've handled VII translation.

Man is it annoying how IFI treats LE customers. Since they aren't shipping them out until Tuesday all the people who paid for the best package of the game are completely fucked. They had a short period of time where LEs shipped out so that people got the game on release day but stopped doing that. In fact the only ones I remember them doing that with were Hyperdevotion and Omega Quintet and then they went right back to shipping on the night before or day of like they did with R;B1 and R;B2.
I had my hopes up a bit since they said that they would be shipping some before the release date but I guess they just meant the night before again if even that. Oh well.
I realize the majority here only ever bought the PC releases and have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm just venting anyways,

Well the problem comes in when you have the voice actresses read the script and they read the lines and add special emphasis to words like "special" there, and those changes get backported to the script.
Also still a lot of shit just left untranslated compared between the english text and the japanese audio.

This. It's not even edited by another person, the dude handled it solo. R;B1's translation isn't perfect and there are some script alterations and exclusions that the translator did. But in other areas it's so faithful that it doesn't even really flow well in English.
Virtually everyone agrees that it's a good enough job to not warrant the undertaking of a do-over. Now, if you want bad, you should see R;B3's out of date American pop culture gags.

A) That line was a pretty accurate translation of the original Japanese text. The only difference is that the Japanese version is a tad bit more explicit about what secret HDD collection actually means
B) You really should use the Japanese dub. The English translation isn't exactly a sub, but it's about as close to one as you can get given the technical limitations and unfamiliarity of the translator.

Alright, it's ready to put out there. We (the Re;Birth Retranslation team) made a new tool for the Victory/Re;Birth engine. It's called STCM Editor, it's basically a new text editor that replaces NR#_STRTOOL - the text editor that more or less comes with Kitserver (which is needed to run things like the Retranslation). You can pretty much throw STRTOOL straight into the trash with this out.
The reason for making this was as I stated earlier; the current tool was more or less a hack that didn't always put the text back together the right way once you edited it. This would basically cause the game to flip its shit during a dialogue scene.
We didn't have this problem too much in RB2, but we encountered it right away in RB3. So we made this to finally stick a fork in the issue. Aside from being able to edit text, you can also further take apart the CL3 file, run a file analysis…it's just most powerful all around.
Also, while the readme says explicitly it's for RB3, it'll actually pretty much work with every Neptunia game starting with Victory going forward, at least if my tests with the ReBirth series as a whole are anything to go by.
If you have any bugs to report, post 'em here or in the retranslation thread on /nep/.
