L'Enfant Plan for Washington DC

Major L'Enfant was a French engineer who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War….In 1791, President Washington appointed L'Enfant to plan the new "Federal City", under the supervision of three commissioners whom Washington had earlier appointed to oversee the planning and development of the territory that became the "District of Columbia". Included in the new district were the riverport towns of Georgetown (formerly in Montgomery County, Maryland) and Alexandria, Virginia.[2]
Thomas Jefferson, who was serving as President Washington's Secretary of State, worked with Washington in the overall planning of the nation's capital.
Jefferson sent L'Enfant a letter outlining his task, which was to provide a drawing of suitable sites for the federal city and the public buildings.
Jefferson had modest ideas for the Capital. However, L'Enfant saw the task as far more grandiose, believing that he was also devising the city plan and designing the buildings.

Shares of Raytheon rose nearly 2% in the extended session Monday after ending the regular trading day down 1.2%.

He did his undergraduate work at the University of Florida majoring in zoology and minoring in chemistry and graduated in 1967. He received his medical degree in 1971 from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. His one year psychiatric internship was spent at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, ending in June 1972. He then served his country as an Army psychiatrist at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, from 1972- 1974 and is a veteran of the Vietnam Era and received a certificate for Meritorious Performance of Duty. His first two years of his psychiatry residency were spent at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, where he perfected his diagnosis and treatment. His final year of residency was spent at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute in Chicago where he was involved in psychiatric research and wrote and had his first of several scientific papers published. He has been in solo, private practice of psychiatry in Virginia Beach/Norfolk, Virginia, since 1977. He has been Board Certified in psychiatry since 1979. He was the president of the Tidewater Academy of Psychiatry and on the board of the Psychiatric Society of Virginia from 1986-1987. He has also served on numerous professional committees throughout the years. He was an Instructor of Psychiatry at Loyola University's Department of Psychiatry in 1976 and Instructor of Psychiatry at Eastern Virginia Medical School's Department of Psychiatry from 1977-1980. He was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 198 1. He has been interviewed on many local TV and radio programs, has written and has been quoted in many newspaper articles concerning different aspects of psychiatry. He has been married to Ann since 1970, and they have two daughters.

“What we’re seeing in Georgia is a violation of the law, there’s fraud,” Ligon told The Epoch Times on Monday, mentioning several topics, one of which included a consent order involving election officials and Democratic activists, according to the outlet.
“We’re saying that there were votes from felons and others that weren’t qualified to vote that were counted, the laws regarding verifying signatures on absentee ballots were not followed, instead a consent order was followed which was not approved by the legislature, and that’s contrary to law and the Federal Constitution,” Ligon said.
Ligon is one of several state senators who was involved in drafting a petition calling for a special session.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan have issued a statement which says in part: "While we understand four members of the Georgia Senate are requesting the convening of a special session of the General Assembly, doing this in order to select a separate slate of presidential electors is not an option that is allowed under state or federal law."
The Republican Senate caucus was to meet at 4 p.m. to speak about the potential of convening a session, according to the outlet.
“We recognize our duty to move forward with this Petition due to the level of fraud and violations of law which took place during this 2020 election cycle. We urge others to join us,” Sen. Ligon said regarding the petition.
“We need at least 29 signatures in the Senate on the Petition before 9 AM, Tuesday, December 8, 2020. A similar Petition in the House requires at least 91 signatures by that same time. Now is the time to call your senators and representatives to stand up and be counted on this effort to restore integrity in the election.”

April 5, 1981 – Robert Ernest “Bob The Bear” Hite was born February 26 1943 in Torrance California. In 1965 Hite was introduced to Alan Wilson by Henry Vestine and the two of them helped convince blues pianist Sunnyland Slim (1906-1995) to get back into the recording studio to record. Hite formed a band with Wilson and Vestine joined soon after and this trio formed the core of Canned Heat. The trio were eventually joined by Larry Taylor (bass) and Frank Cook (drums).
Having found notoriety during the August Woodstock Festival, Canned Heat appeared on a November 1969 episode of Playboy After Dark. Hite was invited to talk with Hugh Hefner after the performance, along with other guests Sonny and Cher, Vic Damone, Dick Shawn and Larry Storch. A 20-year-old Lindsay Wagner, playing the part of one of Hefner’s party guests, sat on Hite’s lap and played a party game. When asked by Hefner what kind of animal Hite would be if he were an animal, Wagner claimed he’d be a bear. Hite told her she got it right, that people called him “The Bear.” It was also on this episode that Hite informed Hugh Hefner that he had over 15,000 78s.
Hite sang and played harmonica with Canned Heat at Woodstock in August 1969. The performances were not included in the original (1970) film Woodstock, but are in the 1994 “Director’s Cut” version.
He produced the John Lee Hooker/Canned Heat album, Hooker ‘N Heat (1971). More at the link above.

The state probe will be the third review into what happened during the mass shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center.
The Virginia Beach Police Department led the criminal investigation and the city hired a consultant to conduct a review. That group released a report last year stating the shooter, a city engineer, had been paranoid. Complaints he had filed showed he thought he was underpaid and that his superiors expected him to perform at a higher standard than others at his pay grade. He also was worried about a mistake he made in the days leading to the shooting. But neither the police nor consultant determined a specific motive.
Convirs-Fowler and Del. Jason Miyares, R-Virginia Beach, pushed legislation last year to create the commission to independently review the tragedy after some of the victim’s families felt the first two reviews left too many unanswered questions. Shooting victims’ families have said the police will not release reports about the death of their loved ones.

Executive Order 9066, (February 19, 1942), executive order issued by U.S. Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, which granted the secretary of war and his commanders the power “to prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he or the appropriate Military Commander may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded.” While no specific group or location was mentioned in the order, it was quickly applied to virtually the entire Japanese American population on the West Coast.
In the days after the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941, suspicion fell on Japanese American communities in the western United States. The U.S. Department of the Treasury froze the assets of all citizens and resident aliens who were born in Japan, and the Department of Justice arrested some 1,500 religious and community leaders as potentially dangerous enemy aliens. Because many of the largest populations of Japanese Americans were in close proximity to vital war assets along the Pacific coast, U.S. military commanders petitioned Secretary of War Henry Stimson to intervene. The result was Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066.
Within a week the Nisei (U.S.-born sons and daughters of Japanese immigrants) of southern California’s Terminal Island had been ordered to vacate their homes, leaving behind all but what they could carry. On March 2, 1942, Gen. John DeWitt, the army’s administrator for the western United States, issued Proclamation No. 1, which established Military Area No. 1 (the western halves of California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as southern Arizona) and Military Area No. 2 (the remaining areas of those four states). DeWitt issued a series of subsequent proclamations that clarified that all persons of Japanese descent would be removed from the entire state of California and the remainder of Military Area No. 1. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9102 on March 18, 1942, creating the War Relocation Authority, a civilian agency tasked with speeding the process along. A few days later the first wave of “evacuees” arrived at Manzanar War Relocation Center, a collection of tar-paper barracks in the California desert, and most spent the next three years there.
Ultimately, the number of internment camps expanded to 10, and more than 110,000 Japanese Americans spent the remainder of the war in them. In December 1944 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Ex parte Mitsuye Endo that it was beyond the power of the War Relocation Authority “to detain citizens against whom no charges of disloyalty or subversiveness have been made for a period longer than that necessary to separate the loyal from the disloyal.” In 1948 Pres. Harry S. Truman signed the Evacuation Claims Act, which gave internees the opportunity to submit claims for property lost as a result of relocation. Pres. Gerald Ford formally rescinded Executive Order 9066 on February 16, 1976. In 1988 Congress passed the Civil Liberties Act, which stated that a “grave injustice” had been done to Japanese American citizens and resident aliens during World War II. It also established a fund that paid some $1.6 billion in reparations to formerly interned Japanese Americans or their heirs.
