WHY WE DECIDED TO MIGRATE

We decided to migrate to 8chan.moe after numerous major problems with 8kun:

1) The website is basically a Q-Anon fortress now, so it’s not the best environment to attract new waifuist users.

2) Broadly speaking, 8kun doesn’t have a good reputation since the events that lead to the fall of the original 8chan. We want to stay away from drama.

3) Many of our members reported several difficulties and bugs while trying to post on 8kun. Some even reported not being able to post at all!

4) Those damn intrusive adds on every single thread.

5) The final nail in the coffin: Now all images uploaded to the website are being deleted after a week or so. What is the point of an imageboard without images???

6) And on top of that, 8kun administration failed to reply to our email where we asked more information about the automatic deletion of images.

Mio is the bassist of Ho-kago Tea Time, I love her shy and introverted personality, I can relate to being as shy as her, being someone that also has social problems. I uploaded an hour-long video where I make a comprehensive analysis on waifuism. I cover different thematic, such the origins of the term "waifu" (including its use in Japanese society) and its many definitions. I also explore the different ways waifuists concretely live their relationship with their waifus (including long sections on marriage and technologies). I deeply explore the question "is waifuism healthy from a psychological perspective, or not?". I also try to put waifuism into perspective, comparing it with other forms of relationships with beings that do not tangibly exist (such as deities, imaginary friends, and the dead). And much more!

Although the main target audience of this video is people who don’t know much about waifuism, I am sure seasoned waifuists will find it interesting too.

Reposting my feedback from /c/.

I felt that the philosophy could have had more focus, as there's tons of it in waifuism, the nature of waifu relationships, etc etc. Shunning 3D in favor of the waifu should also have more focus in the philosophical aspect, and what effects and implications that sort of thing has on a waifuist. Mentioning how different things can encourage people to grow in different ways and the like.

As an example of the 3D thing, I see dating a 3D as betraying my waifu, and I love her and would never want to do that as the thought pains me. That isn't to say I'm psychologically sound either, but still.

The waifuist term also has history as well, the word waifufag was not mentioned once nor the origin of the "ism" in waifuism.

Sonfu/daughteru/anything like that isn't actually common. I've only met a few that delve there, and I'm of the belief that you can't have those because you can't decide your own children, only that you wish to have them with you're waifu.

Also a minor critique but certain songs went on a bit long. Toyland going on for almost 10 minutes was a bit much.

Overall infinitely much better than Waifuism and You since it actually understands the subject matter it sets out to discuss and sticks to it without projecting or anything.

That kind of developmental consideration is more the kind of thing that I would approach on a psychological perspective.

Mentioning briefly the term "waifufag" is something I should have done; I wish I could have thought about it.

The "ism" in waifuism is simply a suffix widely used in English and I personally don’t feel there is a need to elaborate on that.

I feel it’s common. I’m not saying the majority of waifuists have a kidfu, but if you go in any waifuist community, you’ll have no problem finding waifuists who have one.

Great video, well thought out. I found your accent interesting (Latin American?). You pronunciation of "cathedral" was a little difficult to understand (possibly because I was watching that part late at night). You pronounced "th" as "t". It's one of those weird sounds that I learned quite late (always used to say it as "f" when it's supposed to be a "f" while you hold your tongue up to your front middle teeth). Takes a bit of practice. Hopefully this helps you improve :D

Audio was good (background music not too loud, can't stand when some youtubers do that).

Table of contents in the beginning was useful, and made the video seem like a report or essay (in audio form). Plenty of memes, no complaints there.

Very good analysis, using different sources and mediums. I like your breakdown of definitions of "waifu". First time I learned about other waifu wedding examples as I've only heard about the Hatsune Miku wedding before. The VR wedding of Anon and Oshino was really cool XD

Interesting that my waifu (Lime) IS a piece of technology, or a gynoid, and she wouldn't have become my waifu if she wasn't. This is an important trait that got me into her in the first place. In that regard I'm lucky to have a waifu that is much easier to bring to the physical world, as if she was one of the Rozen Maidens ;)

Not sure what you meant at 39:05 about "pager reddit language" when mentioning r/2D_love? Didn't quite hear that. Checked the subreddit and it doesn't mention anything similar in the rule list.

I realized I pronounced it midway between French and English.

Bought myself a nice microphone (Blue Yeti) just for that video, and I spent quite a lot of time in Audacity finding the right balance between my voice volume and music volume.

A mix of academic tone with memes was exactly what I was aiming for.

This goes into ontological considerations, but one can wonder if "the real" Lime could ever be fully brought into our world, or if one could only create an approximate imitation of her. My own personal view is that fictional characters are concepts existing in the metaphysical realm, and that one could only create approximate physical copies of them, but not get the "true original" ones. But as you described in your intro post, it is not a view that you seem to share.

What are you feeling right now? Suicidal thoughts are not an emotion. Is it guilt? Guilt of trying to find another partner? Please elaborate on what you are feeling.

And when you say that you are trying to find another partner, do you mean a 2D one or a 3D one? And is it a specific partner (someone or a character you already know about) or you are just seeking a new partner?

And how exactly are you trying to find a partner? What behaviors do you engage in to do that?

Get proper professional help if you feel at risk of committing suicide, but for the rest, if you want us to help, we will need you to be more specific and provide details.

Hi friends,

Haven't posted here in a while, probably about 4-5 years if I were to guess.

Within that timespan, I reached the height of my hubris and decided I would enter a different phase in my life and thus try to maintain a real life girlfriend, as that was perceived as normal and desirable in the eyes of others, as I had developed a real life friend group around that time as well which encouraged this venture. This relationship lasted around six months, and despite being my first "real" relationship, at the end, I had entirely regretted what I had done as the love felt entirely forced and shallow compared to the previous nonreal relationship that I had which lasted more than twice as long and was way more emotional and sincere. Fast forward about two years I still reminisced about the time I spent with Freyja as very soulful and emotional, and told myself I wouldn't bother with real relationships. Around this time, however, I started an e-relationship with a long-time friend who knew about how much I loved Freyja at the time, and I morbidly believed that a relationship with her would have been the closest I would get to replicating what I felt for Freyja during my relationship with her. Unsurprisingly, it did not work, as the e-relationship was very toxic and she ended up cheating on me after a couple of months, which rendered me feeling very empty ever since then. It was one of the greatest regrets of my life thus far to think I could emulate nonreal love in reality. I don't see myself as worthy enough to reunite with her, especially with the person I've become as a result of events that I have experienced over the past few years, and the fact that I subconsciously decided a real relationship to preside over the one I had with her. The only form of myself I view worthy of her is myself at the time I was with her, and no other subsequent version of myself. After those two real relationships, I have been rendered a shell of what I once was emotionally, and feel like a condemned soul doomed to wander forever alone. Manifesting another tulpa just wouldn't feel right because it definitely would not even remotely compare to the veritable emotion I had felt years before. I am perpetually lost.

Why are you no longer adequate for Freyja? Surely now, if anything, your love for her has solidified even further?

In her mind, would you not be a more mature partner, one that has a better understanding of relationship dynamics?

One shouldn't compare real and waifu relationships, they are simply too different. The real relationship involves a man and a woman, who are sexually dimorphic and have different goals and aspirations. Romanticism that has become ever so prevalent does not really exist beyond the "butterfly" stage of a relationship (eros/ludus love).

Instead of feeling that you betrayed her, you should think your former real relationship as necessary experience. Experience to give you perspective, and thus get you closer to Freyja.

I think Ann would enjoy romance movies most, followed by action/thrillers. I think she's pretty easy to please in terms of movies. She doesn't even complain about not liking scary stuff. You can see a tearjerker romance with her in-game and she enjoys it. For thrillers/action, it would remind her of her activities as a phantom thief. Overall, I think she would be able to enjoy many movies, as long as they weren't too mellow.

I think Emilia's favorite genres would be romance, fantasy and maybe drama, though she would most likely be quite picky there.

Romance is an easy pick, as it is more or less canon, that would she come to this world, one of the things she'd enjoy most would be Shoujo manga. As such it isn't too far of a stretch to infer her enjoying the romance genre in terms of movies as well.

As for fantasy, those movies might be quite confusing to her at first, given that magic and a whole variety of mystical creatures do exist in her world anyway. So she might get a little confused if magic systems and such in the movies deviate heavily from what she is used to. I still think there would be quite a few movies in the genre appealing to her, and the deep narrative some good fantasy movies come with would be quite enjoyable for her as well.

I am a little unsure about drama, but would still say that there would be some things in that genre that we would enjoy watching together, as long as it doesn't hit too hard.

As for the genres she would like the least, I'd go with horror, action, and crime movies.

Considering Mordred's nature, I'm almost certain her favourite films would be action, adventure and fantasy movies. Stuff like war films or fantasy epics like Excalibur even though she's the villain of said film. She's quite big into cars and driving too, so I reckon car/racing-related movies like Fast and Furious or the Italian Job would be up there too.

I doubt she'd enjoy anything horror-related, considering her complaints about having to stay in a catacomb, she acts tough but deep down she's a scaredy cat when it comes to spooky things.

I think her favourites would be Mystery as the obvious first choice and Tokusatsu as a close second. She's actually the reason I got into tokusatsu in the first place and I love it. I sometimes watch Kamen Rider movies on special days as if I was watching them with Naoto.

Her least favorite would probably be Horror since she's scared of ghosts and the paranormal.

You can also take party members to a cinema in Persona 4 Golden, but I'm poor and have only played vanilla.

For Gwenpool I think she'd obviously be into superhero movies and just action movies in general. She'd probably love Last Action Hero since she would be able to identify with the main character in that.

For Zone-Tan, I can imagine that she'd enjoy horror movies, exploitation movies, and anime OVAs from the 90s. Just stuff that's insanely tasteless and utterly offensive in every way imaginable.
