New-age weenie. The correct function of the empathy organ is not to allow a constant intake of empathy; that is dangerous and dysfunctional practice. Leaves you wide open for attack or even incidental damage as the guy experienced. Control is not atrophy, it is evolution.

If any kind of significant increase in occult power came from dismantling of the ego, and if to make the ego extremely weakened takes decades of meditation.

Then you would expect to attain some supernatural abilities from taking large doses of dmt/mushrooms/salvia/lsd atleast for a short period of time during or after the trip.

There's no way that the ego is related to occult power.

The goal of meditation is to perceive the ego as ultimately an illusion, not to dismantle it.

Unless your goal is also to become a dribbling moron who can't function socially.

Meditation can increase your concentration abilities and sensitivity to subtler energies which can open you up to occult powers.

What is will exactly when it comes to performing magick?

Is it about trying really hard during a ritual like building up a lot of emotion or meditating for a very long time.

Or is it to do with practicing the willing of things? Like trying to will an object to do something the same way you will your arm to lift?

It's the same thing that causes muscles to move on your command. Basically will is what delineates and directs psychic fuel to all your actions. "Trying really hard" consciously rarely works, for the same reason why just staring at your arm and mentally commanding it to move won't actually make it move. From my experience it seems that the will mainly resides in the passive-unconscious mind, so training of the will entails attempted balance of the active-passive minds in order to successfully create and specify thought-frameworks and fuel them with emotive-fuel so that results are manifested, according to the initial designs of the practitioner.

Do you want a super detailed answer or a short answer?

I'll start with a short answer. You can mentally influence and synchronize events and persons to your advantage and also when you have great need then The All will provide. Very intense desires get fulfilled for better or worse.

Work on your character too and think of ways to get rich while fulfilling the desires of others and making a better country. You can compel people to buy shit they don't need and do stupid things but it's ill-advised for so many reasons. If you can work in a harmonious fashion with the universal spirit to get everything you need while fulfilling the needs of others that is best.

Personally I am very careful what I pray for, intend, and think because everything for me gets answered. Even for it to rain or not in a specific area and so on.

tl;dr Can someone explain the foundational ideas behind LBRP and the Middle Pillar rituals and what's happening during each step?

Several books and things call for the LBRP and Middle Pillar rituals in specific contexts, but they never seem to explain why you're meant to do any particular step. I don't like doing something without understanding the foundational theory behind it all. For example, reality creation makes perfect sense within the paradigm of the astral plane and the ideas of thoughtforms and emotional resonance, and having learned about all of that theory from books and contemplating it, I understand how reality creation works and can do it confidently, and have had success with it. But I can't find explanations for these rituals, so I don't know what I'd actually be doing on a non-physical level at each step. Why are you meant to use planetary symbols, and why are you meant to face certain directions, and why are you meant to draw a pentagram in the air? I know enough about basic Qabalah and Tree of Life stuff that I understand some of it, but I'm waiting to get into the practical side of it all until I'm in a place in life in which I can at least get through most of IIH. That said, several authors say that these rituals are even useful for beginners or are even necessary to accomplish entry-level tasks, implying you don't need to be super advanced to be evoking fucking archangels and pledging allegiance to the demiurge in Hebrew. So what's the deal with these rituals?

Multiple things. What happens on a non-physical level is manifold but most often serves simply to tear down personal barriers of perception. Most importantly the perception barrier of powerlessness. When doing rituals of any kind you're tinkering foremost with your mindbody.

>planetary symbols

Because they each have different emotional, idealistic and philosophical associations and correspondences that are rooted deeply into our collective subconscious. When invoking let's say fire, you're simultaneously invoking more or less every single spirit associated with that element. Depending on intent you'll get different results. F.e. when you're more into abrahamic stuff, your connection to abrahamic entities associated with that element gets much stronger as opposed to non-abrahamic entities associated with the same materials. Same for directions or even colours.

>useful for beginners

Absolutely. Most of this stuff works despite disbelief. It just works marvellously better when thought and action align. This is what these rituals are for. To align you to your personal highest divinity.

In any case you should only do the stuff that works for you.

Hope that helps in any way.

>Most of this stuff works despite disbelief.

While you explained at least a tiny bit of it all, I think you're missing the point. The fact that it works despite disbelief is exactly why it shocks me that anyone would recommend, as I said, evoking archangels, talking platitudes to YHVH, drawing a pentagram in the air and merging with planetary symbols to someone who probably hasn't even been into this stuff for more than a week or two. That's insane. Almost every other school of thought explains everything in depth before you even begin. What I said about reality creation is a good example. People go into great detail about the potential to completely destroy your life if you aren't careful. These rituals are just given in steps and you're told to do them without explanation of all the many complicated concepts involved. I've been an occultist for maybe 3 or 4 years now and I understand probably half of what happens in them (given, I've focused on entirely different schools of thought for the most part). So where are people meant to learn about all of the concepts behind these rituals, and why in the hell are beginners meant to do them? There's a reason threads like >>128815 exist: because none of this is ever explained fucking nearly enough, and anyone who doesn't want to ruin their own life knows to actually understand every underlying principle of something to some degree before you do it.

Astral projection is a pretty well known starting point, but it can be pretty difficult for most people. You could try reality creation, but it tends to work best if you're already convinced to some degree. >>104268 is a good thread if you want to go down that road. You could also try the Monroe Institute Gateway Experience hemisync tapes if you can find a torrent. Without being too specific about my experience, when I did the tape on disc 3 that involves sending someone a message astrally, they responded within a minute or so of me coming out of the meditation, and I hadn't communicated with them physically in months. There's also a lot of scientific research that doesn't get very much public discussion, but it's out there. There are 80,000+ (I think) declassified documents from the CIA's Project Stargate (long story short they used controlled remote viewing to spy on the Russians after taking the concept from the Russians). The Monroe Institute, who I already mentioned, have done a bunch of astral projection research that you can read about in Robert Monroe's books. There are also a few specific scientists who you might find interesting, like Rupert Sheldrake. A lot of scientific study surrounding this sort of thing is pretty flawed though unfortunately (Charles Tart is a good example).

You must

1. Learn to reliably astral project on command with at least the vividity of a dream.

2. Learn to move the energy of your own and other bodies with a high degree of precision and potency; enough to kill a person through vampirism, since you'll be doing this to your own body.

You see why this is a high-level technique. If you can do those two things you would be pretty much a magus and thus far ahead 99% of the people here.

>since you'll be doing this to your own body

The cases I know wouldn't kill themselves. They would select someone (sometimes their own son), keep them close and have everything prepared so that when they died, they would transfer over and easily recover their money and property. Descendants are ideal for obvious reasons.

>>132379

With the above post and the books that have been recommended on OBE (John Kreiter) you have everything you need, as indigo pill said, to basically win at magic. Maybe your projections will feel like daydreams at first. Don't be afraid to be a noob. You will get better. All you need to do is do the work.

Also, maybe you want to check out Michelle Belanger's The Psychic Energy Codex. But don't get obsessed with reading books or that's all you'll ever do. Practice. Take at least an astral stroll every day around the corner and do at least a couple energy exercises like qi gong or the middle pillar or something like that. Meditate anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes a day. That's a good minimum. But remember you get out as much as you put in.

Honestly at the level of proficiency at which you can prolong your physical existence by hopping bodies, there is so much you could potentially accomplish, that kind of pales in comparison.
