I really can't bother to watch anime anymore and I've likely been missing out the past few years. It feels like a drag to sit through several 20 minute episodes when I have a backlog of other things and can lose interest rather quick.

It's not like manga nor LNs where I can just read through several chapters at my own pace, and needing only to finish the chapter at hand when I want to stop. Or even just pause reading several times midway to check on other things real quick, like threads. Whereas with anime it needs to be somewhat more continuous; interruptions or the show's pacing is more impactful on your time and enjoyment.

I've also been feeling this way about videogames somewhat, but it's also the same thing where I'm comfortable with games I can step away from however many times I want.

Any way to deal with this?

The more time I let pass, the more trouble I feel I'll have trying to download older seasons.

You need to train yourself to stop getting distracted. Daily meditation helps, start at 5 minutes, top out at 5 hours.

Also, stop doing 5 things at once, like reading a book, listening to music, and checking imageboards at the same time.

I also take breaks. Usually a months at a time. I’m also disappointed/get bored with new seasonal anime. Lately to cope with all the shitty anime coming out, I just torrent older stuff like from 2000 - 2010, sometimes older than that. I also use to time to read LNs and manga or pick up another hobby that I will also get bored of and go back to anime

Having standards isn't a bad thing. If you don't enjoy an anime however, which I feel is your personal issue, you should just drop it and move on.

Am I wrong in insinuating you have an issue dropping anime?

If something doesn't keep your engaged, if something isn't challenging you enough to keep your attention, then it's not worth your attention. Your close to figuring this one out on your own I can tell. Personally I feel this way about manga moreso than anime. Anime is something I enjoy watching and manga is something that just feels wrong. Also stop watching porn.

Deeply Unsatisfying Endings 名無し 12/07/19 (Sat) 06:52:11 No.113736 [Open thread]

Here's a thread for manga or anime that you've consumed that left you feeling unsatisfied or downright offended after the ending. Please remember your spoiler tags.

I know I'm super late on this but someone recently recommended I read Mirai Nikki so I did them a solid and read it over the course of a few hours. Despite having some interesting moments and some genuinely cool plot points I just felt disgusted by the end of it and once I was finished my opinion of it had been thoroughly soured. My main issues were: inconsistent characterization across the board, A horrifically stupid sequence of fakeouts and reveals that led to nothing and pretty much everything about the main character. I'll focus my attention on that last point for the purposes of having a decent main post. Spoilers ahead.

So this guy, Amano, is the main character pretty much by complete happenstance. He's the favorite to win the game being played for pretty much no reason. He gets pushed along by pretty much every character, antagonist or protagonist alike, as they desperately try to get him to do something, ANYTHING that would actually help him achieve some kind of goal in his life. Every decision he makes seems to be based on a new motivation he just came up with on the spot, regularly flip flopping between "Save everyone!", "Save my friends!", "Save my parents!", "Save Yuno!", or even just "I wanna fuck Yuno!". He only achieves this last goal, by the way.

This clown Breaks every promise he made during the course of this shit show and manages to get his entire universe destroyed after murdering his own friends and having his Yandere Waifu™ kill herself so he could become a god. Now, this would almost be a good ending to have him have to sit there eternally and think about how his passivity and wishy washiness ended up ruining literally everything, but the author had to inject something of a "Good End" into the very last bit.

This good end completely invalidates one of the only actually good things the MC managed to achieve, creating a happy future for the alternate reality version of his Yandere Waifu™ so she could live without becoming a psycho murderer who only thinks aboutPost too long. Every harem anime/manga that doesn't end in a harem.

Instead of living up to expectations or getting rid of the useless filler characters to properly develop the real pair the author wastes everyone's time with cockblocks and reseting things back to the status quo for 100+ chapters until they tell him his turd is getting canceled, so he slaps together some shitty ending in 2 or 3 chapters and gives everyone the middle finger.

Special honors go to the author of OreImo for somehow managing to make an ending that pissed absolutely everyone off.

It's a video essay in which the creator essentially explains how otakus and the anime industry failed to understand the message that Anno meant to convey with the Eva series, which is that you should never succumb to escapism. And how Anno created the remake films as a reaction to people using this very series as a form of escapism.

The guy made another interesting video titled Let's All (not) Love Lain in which he talks about how people failed to understand Lain's similar message and how its fandom is engaging in exactly the type of behaviour that the show tried to warn its audience about.

I'd say it's on par, depends whether you prefer mecha or magical girls more. At least Shinji does something after he gets out of his micro-arc, and there was an attempt to explain the symbolism as ancient aliens with the angels.

The manga is still on my reading list, but I just skip through real fast. To keep up to date with the trainwreck. Honestly, my last clear memory is from the end of the timeskip: when I was absolutely sure there was nothing left to care about.

Just in case you weren't up to date with the latest instalment: Eren sends all the wall titans to destroy the outside world, and Annie awakens from her crystal prison. What a waste of a good premise, I can't believe someone actually pays to read that shit. And am honestly surprised there was no uproar once the tv series hit the point of no return.

Sometimes I want to watch old anime which often are no longer seeded. In that case streaming sites can usually help out. Sometimes even YouTube.

There are also anime that are suddenly no longer shared on Nyaa, such as Bonobono.

When HorribleSubs stopped subbing Bonobono I had to download the raws, which were provided by Ohys-Raws and Leopard-Raws, but all of a sudden they both stopped as well. Luckily I found a streaming site for raws that had more episodes but unfortunately it stopped working entirely and I haven't found a good alternative ever since.

I still want more Bonobono.
