First of all, I've been having some trouble lately with a few torrents from Nyaa, these torrents have serveral seeders yet their download speed never reach more than 20 kb/s or so. I do not think this is an issue on my connection's part as other torrents with equal amount of seeders work just fine.
Secondly, this is less of a question and more of a request but would someone be willing to seed any release of the "Prince of Darkness" film of the Nadesico series from Nyaa? The two releases that still have seeders both only have a single one of them and I've been having the issue I described above with both torrents. How long does it take you to read an 18 page chapter of typical manga?
If I'm conscious of the time it still takes me around 30 minutes, and this is only One Piece mind you. That's me processing the words slowly, not appreciating the artwork. I came across the following quote:

Often times, it's the show's fault for making you want to pause rather than your attention span. That just means you're watching something you're not genuinely enjoying or which doesn't appeal to you (anymore). I've experienced this a few times as well and I normally fixed it by either watching something that really appeals to me (and which I had never seen before) or by just taking a break from anime for a while but I can understand that the latter doesn't seem very fun. So I'd say watch something that has been on your backlog for a long time or try out a different genre and you may find that you can watch entire episodes again without ever pausing.

Funimation until very recently were partnered with crunchyroll. Funimation would do the dubs and crunchyrolll would do the subs. The first two seasons of MHA are going to be pretty much horriblesubs. Funimation had that whole patriarchy line in Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and the gamergate line in Prison School debacles in their dubs. You may not care as those are dubs instead of subs but it irks me which is just a personal gripe. Still expect horriblesubs tier subs for MHA. I'm not sure who's going to do the subs for season 3 but they're probably not going to be much better.

It's just that when watching simplified subtitles, official or fansubs, it detracts heavily from the experience for me. The words I'm reading aren't the same as what I'm hearing. Tough request. Most seasonal shows of notice are covered by streaming services, and by extent, by pirate sites. Fansubs do exist, and they usually catch on to titles that went under the radar, but you'll find them when you look for X or Y anime, not the other way around. For example, Asenshi Subs did Hisone to Masotan last year, a show that wasn't picked up on Horrible Subs. They also did their own translation of other shows that were on HS roster (a wasted effort imo, but who am I to say what people should do with their free time).
tl;dr: choose an anime, look it up on a torrent site, see if any group has it.
As to which anime to watch, check the catalof for threads made for titles of past seasons for some current-ish stuff. That shouldn't stop you from checking some seasonal anime as well imo.

If you are a horror fan, Evangelion has a lot of cool stuff with eldritch lovecraftian abominations of different levels and people trying to play with things that they shouldn't, on top of themes of insanity.

Mushishi might be moody and philosophicaly packed but it is also extremely fucking comfy, the whole story being a series of medical-esque mysteries that the main character needs to solve. It watches like a medical drama with fantasy elements, and is a perfect show if you are feeling stressed and want to calm down. The world portrayed in the anime isn't perfect, but it's pleasant and beautiful enough that you wish to escape there. Mushishi is an incredibly cool fucking profession and you wish that you could be a Mushishi yourself. Definitely watch if you enjoyed ACCA.

That is true but language changes themes. Not all the time. One of the best shounen I've read was Liar Game by the same guy that did One Outs but it had complex almost seinen like feel to it even though the language was fairly simple. Generally though a seinen is going to be more complex than a shounen. It's like the difference between reading JK Rowling and Stephen King to give some easily familiar pop writers.

I was trying to watch an anime with the videocodec 10 bit HVEC (I'm not a tech kind of a guy so I might be saying this wrong) but the video file was stuttering, which is often the case with those kind of video files so I decided that I might just have to update MPC-HC. I did but after that, the Kawaii Codec Pack (which I have been using ever since I started watching torrented anime 4 years ago so I don't fully get how it works as it has never created any problems from the day I started using it) seemed to have stopped working. Or at least, that's what I think happened because the subtitles no longer worked. This is annoying because the stuttering does stop in the updated version of MPC-HC. So in the old version of MPC-HC there is stuttering but the subs work and in the updated version the reverse is the case.
Anyone know how I could fix this? I'd prefer to use the updated version of MPC-HC obviously so I don't have to deal with the stuttering.

I liked Joker Game. It had a cool gritty spy feel. The protagonists are doing dirty work for WWII Japan, and are completely amoral about it. It was a contrast to the idealism/niceness of standard heroes, but not in some degenerate deconstructive way. It's fairly episodic, with a mission usually covering an episode or two, so there's not much of a progressing storyline.

Anybody know the detailed history of PummelDex, or any interesting information about it?
I forgot what the site was even called and had to go digging through jewgle hard to even find a reference to it. All I could remember was that it had dex in the name and it had lots of anime ops and eds in german and nip for download in early-mid 2000s. Kept searching and searching until I found an old german forum and looked through its anime section around the time frame until I found a reference to it. Just the name was all I needed to find the url and go check for archives.
Turns out it's still around today. Wayback machine has plenty around 2004-2005 but only has one crawl between 2005 and 2014 or something. From what I can gather from various forum posts I found on jewgle and titles of unarchived newsposts on the wayback machine, it seems around 2005 or so they had to take down their german content since there was going to be CD releases of the german dub songs, and they started losing some of their japanese content too. There was a site update later that I can't place a date on where they removed the download section altogether. I assume it died shortly after, or maybe it kept going but not getting crawled until 2014 when there was a new spike in crawls.
I assume this is when the site got a massive overhaul to use wordpress, where we're at now. The site looks like any other shitty modern anime news/review/blog site, complete with a facebook link. I checked out their two affiliates. The first one was pic related. Every god damn time. The second one was just another generic modern anime news/review/blog site that didn't warrant a screencap.
Anyway, I've sated my curiosity about what happened to a site I used to download from frequently. Mostly wanted to blogpost about an old anime site without making a thread, since I'm sure there's people lurking that might have at least known of the site. But if any krautfags know more I'd love to hear it.

I've been wondering lately: to what degree do Japanese 'otakus' or Japanese in general still care about older anime? When I look at the bigger Japanese artists on Danbooru or Pixiv, they only really draw characters from seasonal anime and once those end airing, they tend to stop drawing those characters and move on to the next big thing.
I know there's certain series like Gundam and Eva which are still fondly remembered but do people still care about somewhat lesser-known shows from the past like Utena or are there people like on here that swear by the idea that older anime were better/digital sucks etc.? Are most Japanese people seasonal faggots just like your average western anime fan?
