Justice Dem Gets Big Money Boost Against Top Democrat Eliot Engel

Jamaal Bowman receives more than half a million from Justice Democrats

The Justice Democrats PAC dropped nearly a million dollars in support of Jamaal Bowman, a primary challenger to top Democratic representative Eliot Engel (N.Y.).

Bowman is receiving major support from well-endowed liberal sources ahead of the June 23 primary in New York's 16th Congressional District. The Justice Democrats PAC, which previously supported Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (N.Y.) successful 2018 primary challenge against another top congressional Democrat, spent $920,000 on media buys against Engel. Bowman also has the endorsement of the Working Families Party, which received significant donations this cycle from a handful of Democratic megadonors, including George Soros.

Left-wing groups may be looking to Bowman's race to provide a morale boost in what has so far been a disappointing election cycle for progressives. Sens. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) were bested by former vice president Joe Biden in the presidential race, while Morgan Harper, who was backed by Justice Democrats, was trounced in an Ohio primary against incumbent representative Joyce Beatty. Bowman, however, is better positioned to win against Engel. A recent poll had the challenger up by 10 points.

"We just need a win," Andom Ghebreghiorgis, another progressive candidate in the district who dropped out of the race and endorsed Bowman, told Politico. "People are investing a lot emotionally in this race because they see it as a down-ballot race where the policies of a Bernie, for example, which weren’t able to achieve victory on a national level, can at least be achieved on a congressional level."

Bowman, a Bronx middle school principal, was recruited by Justice Democrats in hopes he can join other left-wing politicians in Washington to push a progressive policy agenda. His platform includes support for the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. In November, Bowman cited "white male domestic terrorism" as the "biggest issue in our country."

In addition to the far-left PAC's six-figure media buys, Bowman's campaign has worked consistently with Justice Democrats since the candidate entered the race. Justice Democrats PAC's filings reveal the group was reimbursed $32,600 from Bowman's campaign for "operating expenditures"—which can include office space, travel, equipment, and food—since last July.

#FluorideTrial: Ruling Delayed As Judge Asks Defense and Plaintiffs to Discuss New Evidence

The historic trial examining the dangers of water fluoridation reached a temporary conclusion on Wednesday after the judge delayed the ruling so the parties may consider new evidence on fluoride.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Court Judge Edward Chen delayed a ruling in the case between the Fluoride Action Network (FAN) and the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The FAN is aiming to prove the harms caused by community water fluoridation. The government is defending water fluoridation and seeking a dismissal of the petition by the plaintiffs.

Over the last two weeks, Judge Chen has heard arguments from witnesses with the FAN and EPA. Attorneys with FAN argue that water fluoridation violates the 1970 Toxic Substances Control Act provisions which prohibit the “particular use” of a chemical which has been found to present an unreasonable risk to the general public. Under section 21 of the TSCA citizens are allowed to petition the EPA to regulate or ban individual chemicals.

Judge Chen suggested the FAN file a new petition with the EPA, a suggestion which plaintiffs attorney Michael Connett was not eager to accept given the fact that it has taken four years to get the lawsuit to court. Connett told the court that the plaintiffs might not have the resources to continue this fight for another couple of years and cautioned against delaying a ruling because it would continue to endanger Americans due to ongoing fluoride exposure. The EPA’s attorneys were equally disinterested in a delayed ruling, stating that there is “no way” the EPA could conduct a review within the required 90 days.

Judge Chen said he was only discussing delaying the ruling for another couple of months, not years. Chen also noted that the evidence presented by both sides went “well beyond administrative record, because so much has changed since that petition was filed” in 2016. “Doesn’t it make sense to have the agency take a second look?” Judge Chen asked the attorneys for the EPA and FAN.

Judge Chen noted that the National Academy of Science is expected to publish a study later this year and the National Toxicology Program is working on a review of the literature on fluoride. These new studies, he said, should be considered by the EPA. The judge did acknowledge it is undisputed that fluoride can cause harm to the human brain and is a neurological hazard. The disagreement between EPA and FAN hinges on arguments over the levels at which fluoride causes neurological damage.

BERLIN, Germany, June 19, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The president of the Catholic Women’s Association in Germany moonlights as a “champion” for a multi-million dollar radical abortion activist group that was founded four years ago in reaction to US President Donald Trump cutting off funding for international abortion groups.

Maria Flachsbarth, a member of parliament for the Christian Democratic Union since 2002, is an outspoken advocate for “SheDecides,” a pro-abortion and pro-contraception organization.

The manifesto of the group states that every woman can decide “whether, when, and with whom” to “have sex” and to “have children.”

“She has the right. To information, to health care, to choose. She is free. To feel pleasure. To use contraception. To access abortion safely. To decide.”

“SheDecides has managed to create the positive momentum for sexual and reproductive rights, which we so desperately need in these very challenging times,” Flachsbarth said, according to the SheDecides website.

As president of the German Catholic Women’s Association, Flachsbarth represents about 180,000 members all across the country. The organization was founded in the early 20th century with the aim of “deepening the Catholic ideal of womanhood in family, work, and public life.”

Flachsbarth admitted to using her political influence at any given opportunity “to speak about these issues and put the topic on the agenda.”

“I am very glad that becoming part of the SheDecides Movement provides me – and the Ministry – with new opportunities to speak out even more loudly for the rights of girls and women,” Flachsbarth said.

She expressed her conviction “that the limited access to sexual and reproductive health services and the curtailing of reproductive rights are among the biggest challenges girls and women face today.”

“I strongly believe that only by ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health services we can reach true empowerment of women and girls,” she added.

Indian Security Forces Kill 8 Militants In Two Operations In Kashmir

Indian security forces neutralized 8 militants in 2 separate raids in Kashmir, on June 18th-19th.

The first incident took place in the Pampore area. An intelligence report was received, which claimed of militant presence in the area.

One militant was killed in a firefight, two more retreated and hid inside a nearby mosque.

According to police, tear gas was used to eject the militants from the building. Both of them were killed, and there was no damage to the mosque.

One of the most senior black Americans in the state department has resigned to protest Donald Trump’s response to the recent riots over the death of George Floyd.

Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs Mary Elizabeth Taylor gave her resignation to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying her action was a matter of conscience.

“Moments of upheaval can change you, shift the trajectory of your life, and mold your character,” Taylor wrote to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a letter obtained by the Post. “The President’s comments and actions surrounding racial injustice and Black Americans cut sharply against my core values and convictions. Taylor was the youngest assistant secretary for legislative affairs in history. She previously worked for the White House as deputy director for nominations, and on Mitch McConnell’s Senate staff.

She was seen as a loyal, reliable Trump aide.

In her resignation letter, Taylor expressed her gratitude to Pompeo.

“You have shown grace and respect in listening to my opinions, and your remarkable leadership have made me a better leader and team member,” she reportedly wrote. “I appreciate that you understand my strong loyalty to my personal convictions and values, particularly in light of recent events.”

The pressure on Ms. Taylor to resign must have been enormous. You have to think that friends and family were advising her to cut loose from Trump before she went down with him. Outside forces may also have been pressuring her, as the black community in America has become even more monolithic in its beliefs as a result of the demonstrations and riots.

Were there threats made against her? No one would be surprised if there were.

Blacks in the administration have kept a low profile from the beginning given the rabid opposition to anyone who dares work for the president. It’s like six degrees of separation as even the families and friends of aides have been targeted by the mob.

Eshkol, caught off guard by the tone of the telegram, took seven weeks to assent, and the twice-yearly inspections continued until 1969 when President Richard Nixon ended them.

Also revealed in the trove of documents the NSA posted is the origin of Israel’s oft-repeated credo that it would not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons — a deliberately ambiguous statement that left Israel room to develop the weapons, but not arm them.

Shimon Peres, then the deputy defense minister who later would lead the country as prime minister for two stints and then become president, improvised the statement when he was surprised by Kennedy during a meeting Peres had scheduled with Kennedy’s adviser, Myer Feldman, who also functioned as the administration’s liaison to Israel and the U.S. Jewish community. Unbeknownst to Peres, Kennedy and Feldman had planned the “surprise” encounter.

According to a Hebrew-language Foreign Ministry of Israel account of the April 2 meeting, Kennedy asked Peres into the Oval Office for 30 minutes and questioned him on Israel’s nuclear capacity.

“You know that we follow very closely the discovery of any nuclear development in the region,” Kennedy said. “This could create a very dangerous situation. For this reason, we monitor your nuclear effort. What could you tell me about this?”

Peres improvised, “I can tell you most clearly that we will not introduce nuclear weapons to the region, and certainly we will not be the first.”

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Peter Lewis-Fernando Garrido with first-degree assault, a felony.

According to Washington State Patrol, troopers responded about 1 p.m. Saturday to a shooting on I-5 near South 320th.

Investigators said the 30-year-old suspect, Garrido, and the victim were involved in a road rage incident on the interstate that prompted the victim to pull over to the right shoulder so the suspect could pass.

Troopers said Garrido also pulled onto the shoulder behind the victim, who then got out of his vehicle and approached the suspect who had pulled up behind him. The suspect, a civilian employee for SPD, reportedly grabbed a handgun from his glovebox and shot the other man as he walked away.
