Part 1, January, 2020: “It’s going to be rare,” predicts Dr. Theresa Tam

When the COVID-19 crises first hit in late January, Ottawa MPs of all political stripes weren’t satisfied with the federal government’s assurances that Canada had the problem under control.

For the next two months — until major changes were made at last to our border policy in late March — the Liberal, Bloc, NDP and Conservative MPs dug into that border policy, asking numerous probing questions, examining the motives and reasons behind the initial and unyielding federal response in those two months.

Here in Part 1 of this series is a detailed timeline of the questions those MPs asked and the answers they got in the House of Commons and at Parliamentary health committee meetings. Part 2 digs into the stated reasons for Canada’s border policy put forward in February in Ottawa. Part 3 looks at the federal government’s drastic about-face on border policy in March 2020.

Also included in the timeline — as a contrast to the approach taken by the Canadian federal government — are the actions taken by the government in Taiwan (compiled byDr. Jason Wang et al), a nation that has so far successfully slowed the spread of the virus, despite close travel and economic ties to China, and despite being expected to have the second biggest outbreak of the virus.

So far, Taiwan has had just a small fraction of the cases that Canada has had. Its schools and businesses are still open. There’s been no community spread of the disease in Taiwan, meaning all cases can be traced back to travellers, as opposed to coming from unknown community sources as seen with so many cases in Canada.

Finally, information on China’s early attempts to cover up the outbreak and silence doctors discussing the new virus is also included for context. A full timeline with linked sources on China’s cover up was recently compiled by The National Review.

Dec. 30, 2019: Doctor Li Wenliang sends a message to a group of fellow doctors warning them about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, where he worked, reports The Lancet. Meant to be a private message, he encourages them to protect themselves from infection.

Dr Li Wenliang broke news of the virus in late December but was severely reprimanded by Wuhan authorities for rumour-mongering. TWITTER

Dec. 31, 2019: Taiwanese officials, on guard against an outbreak of strange pneumonia cases in China, board and inspect passengers coming into Taiwan, looking for fever or pneumonia symptoms on direct flights from Wuhan.

Dec. 31, 2019: The Taiwan Central Epidemic Command Center sends an email to the World Health Organization: “News resources today indicate that at least seven atypical pneumonia cases were reported in Wuhan, CHINA. Their [China’s] health authorities replied to the media that the cases were believed not SARS; however the samples are still under examination, and cases have been isolated for treatment… I would greatly appreciate if you have relevant information to share with us.”

December 31: The Wuhan Municipal Health Commission declares, “The investigation so far has not found any obvious human-to-human transmission and no medical staff infection.” This is the opposite of the belief of the doctors working on patients in Wuhan, and two doctors were already suspected of contracting the virus, reportsJim Geraghty of The National Review.

Jan 1, 2020: Doctor Li Wenliang was summoned to the Public Security Bureau in Wuhan, The Lancet reports, and was made to sign a statement in which he was accused of making false statements that disturbed the public order.

Jan. 1: The Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan closes for “environmental sanitation and disinfection.”

Jan. 3, 2020: The World Health Organization issues public warnings over Twitter: “China has reported to WHO regarding a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan, Hubei Province … China has extensive capacity to respond to public health events and is responding proactively & rapidly to the current incident in Wuhan — isolating patients, tracing close contacts, cleaning up the market, and searching for the cause and for additional cases.”

Jan. 3, 2020. Caixin Global, which covers business and financial news in China, reports that “China’s National Health Commission (NHC), the nation’s top health authority, ordered institutions not to publish any information related to the unknown disease, and ordered labs to transfer any samples they had to designated testing institutions, or to destroy them.”

Jan. 3: South Korea brings in increased airport screening and quarantine for passengers from Wuhan.

Jan 5: The Taiwan Centre for Disease Control is now notified if passengers from Wuhan have fever or other symptoms.

Jan. 7: China confirms it has a new disease, now known as COVID-19, then called coronavirus.

Jan. 7: Japan brings in increased airport screening and quarantine for passengers from Wuhan.

Jan. 9: The WHO issues travel guidelines, urging restraint: “WHO does not recommend any specific measures for travellers. WHO advises against the application of any travel or trade restrictions on China based on the current information available … According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people.”

Jan. 9: Dr. Theresa Tam, Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, tweets out travel advice: “Travelling to China? Be aware of an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan city, Hubei province. Consult the travel health notice before you go & contact your healthcare provider if you feel ill after your return.”

Jan 11 and 12: The WHO receives detailed information from the National Health Commission China that the outbreak is associated with exposures in one seafood market in Wuhan City. “The government (of China) reports that there is no clear evidence that the virus passes easily from person to person,” said a WHO press release.

Jan. 11:Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, secretary-general of the WHO, tweets: “I sincerely thank all the Chinese scientists and health workers who have been working around the clock, for their commitment to keeping China and the world safe.”

Jan. 13: Thailand reports the first imported case of lab-confirmed novel coronavirus from Wuhan.

Jan. 14: Without telling the WHO or any other outside nation of its grave concerns, according to an April report from the Associated Press, “the head of China’s National Health Commission, Ma Xiaowei, laid out a grim assessment of the situation on Jan. 14 in a confidential teleconference with provincial health officials. A memo states that the teleconference was held to convey instructions on the coronavirus from President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, but does not specify what those instructions were. ‘The epidemic situation is still severe and complex, the most severe challenge since SARS in 2003, and is likely to develop into a major public health event,’ the memo cites Ma as saying. The National Health Commission is the top medical agency in the country. ”

Jan. 15: Japan reports first case.

Jan. 15: “We have reached the latest understanding that the risk of sustained human-to-human transmission is low,” Li Qun, the head of the China Centre for Disease Control, says on Chinese state television.

Jan 15: The World Health Organization tweets: “According to the latest information we have, there is no clear evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission and there are no infections reported among health care workers.”

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove of the WHO would later admit at an April 13 WHO press conference: “Right from the start, from the first notification we received on the 31st of December, given that this was a cluster of pneumonia — I’m a MERS specialist, so my background is in coronaviruses and influenza — so immediately thought, given that this is a respiratory pathogen, that of course there may be human-to-human transmission.”

Jan. 19: A Health Canada briefing note prepared for Health Minister Patty Hajdu states: “Based on the latest information that we have, there is no clear evidence that the virus is easily transmitted between people,” as the CBC’s John Paul Tasker wouldlater reveal in April.

Jan. 20: China reports it now has 278 cases, 258 from Hubei province, with 51 people severely ill, 12 critical and six deaths. “The recent outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan and other places must be taken seriously,” President Xi Jinpingsays in his first public statement on the crisis. “Party committees, governments and relevant departments at all levels should put people’s lives and health first.” Chinese Zhong Nanshan, a respiratory expert, tells the public that person-to-person transmission has been confirmed.

The deadly China coronavirus that started in China sometime in late 2019 has now circled the globe. Evidence suggests that the coronavirus was not from a wet market but came from a lab in Wuhan. We still don’t know whether the deadly virus was leaked intentionally or if it was an accident.

But we do know that the Chinese did attempt to market a cure for the coronavirus to the world in January after the virus began to spread.

We reported four days ago that in late March FOX News host Tucker Carlson reported on a CHINESE study in the Western press on the origin of the novel coronavirus. The study concluded the deadly virus came out of local laboratories in Hubei Province. The smoking gun in the study was the viral link to horseshoe bats which are not sold in local wet markets and are not native to Wuhan. In fact the closest colony is 900 kilometers away. There is no evidence horseshoe bats were sold in the Wuhan wet markets. The local labs used this bat specimen and the virus likely came from a lab in Wuhan.

According to the report the coronavirus came from either the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and Prevention or Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China.

These reports linking bats to the coronavirus started making the rounds back in January. A research paper published in the Wuhan Centre for Disease Control and Prevention determined the source of the coronavirus is a laboratory near the Seafood Market in Wuhan.

This past Monday The Gateway Pundit reported that the China coronavirus has connections to former leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin. For starters, Jiang is the grandfather of Jiang Zhicheng, who has a controlling interest in WuXi AppTec, which controls Fosun Pharma.

Note that the Chinese changed the drug name in their application and are calling it “Redoxivir”. They also admit in their application that they illegally reverse engineered the Remdesivir without Gilead’s permission for ‘humanitarian’ reason due to the pending epidemic.

Remdesivir is used for the treatment of Ebola and coronavirus infections. The drug showed early success in Washington state treating the coronavirus outbreak near Seattle.

Soros Fund Management invested in WuXi in 2011. The Gateway Pundit reported on Soros’s investments in WuXi AppTec a few weeks ago.

After the coronavirus leaked out in the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province, the Chinese attempted to make money by applying for the patent on the drug remdesivir used to treat the deadly virus.

So there are a couple of very important facts that Tokyo Rose Barton and the CBC haven’t covered. These are details that most busy citizens don’t bother themselves with but right now they could be a huge factor in robbing you of every right you have.

Firstly the degrees and training that the Public Health Officers now using the power of the state to lock you in your homes is only very partly based in “raw science”. Most of the rest is Ideologically based social justice studies. And what they regard as being within their power to direct will shock you.

Many of you may already be aware of the degree to which the rancid ideologies of Identity politics collectively labelled “Social Justice” have been brutally inserted into every Academic discipline. This has reached the level where Physicists are supposed to take the blatantly racist “white privilege” trope into account when measuring the radiation output of stars. Math is now racist because it only allows one right answer.

In fact as of this year all three of the agencies that grant our money for research in Canada will now doll out our millions on the basis of Social Justice and accounting for the massively debunked concept of Implicit Bias. The actual advancement of science or return for our millions will be secondary. One imagines we will be treated to thousands of detailed studies on Gendered geology perhaps, Planetary Privilege, the possibilities are exciting to say the least.

‘Social justice’ and ‘health equity’ are core values in public health. Yet, despite their normative character, the numerous normative accounts of social justice and equity are rarely acknowledged, meaning that these values are often unaccompanied by an explanation of what they require in practice. The objective of this study was to bridge this normative scholarship with information about how these ‘core values’ are integrated and interpreted by Canadian public health policy-makers.

Methods

Twenty qualitative interviews with public health policy-makers recruited from public health organizations in Canada, analyzed using an ‘empirical ethics’ methodology that combined empirical data with normative ethical analysis involving theories of justice.

Findings

Participants viewed health equity and social justice as distinct, where the former was perceived as ‘clearer’. Health equity was conceptualized as focusing attention to ‘proximal’ disparities in access to services and ‘materialistic’ determinants of health, whereas social justice was conceptualized as focusing on structural issues that lead to disadvantage. Health equity was characterized as ‘neutral’ and ‘comfortable’, whereas social justice was characterized as ‘political’ and ‘uncomfortable’.

Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread

Abstract

Background

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV). No effective prophylactic or post-exposure therapy is currently available.

Results

We report, however, that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage. In addition to the well-known functions of chloroquine such as elevations of endosomal pH, the drug appears to interfere with terminal glycosylation of the cellular receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2. This may negatively influence the virus-receptor binding and abrogate the infection, with further ramifications by the elevation of vesicular pH, resulting in the inhibition of infection and spread of SARS CoV at clinically admissible concentrations.

Conclusion

Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. Favorable inhibition of virus spread was observed when the cells were either treated with chloroquine prior to or after SARS CoV infection. In addition, the indirect immunofluorescence assay described herein represents a simple and rapid method for screening SARS-CoV antiviral compounds.

Rebuke of the AP pseudo-study used by the MSM to discredit HCQ, by team of Pr. Raoult

In response to the bad Magagnoli 'scientific article' put forward by AP, and subsequently used by the MSM as a basis for the recent 4AM talking point campaign to discredit the efficacy of HCQ and make it sound dangerous, the team of Professor Raoult published the following short letter:

They go as far as calling the Magagnoli paper a case of scientific misconduct, forgoing rigorous and balanced scientific analysis to push erroneous negative claims.

The letter was probably written in a hurry, by people that are not fluent in English. But after reading the references, what they mean becomes clear.

I provide below a clearer restatement of their argument. Please share their letter, with or without this analysis (no attribution required if you choose to add it), if you want to help counter the current MSM disinformation wave about HCQ.

They point out the following three major flaws in the Magagnoli paper:

1) Lymphophenia occurs twice as much in all the HCQ groups than in the 'control' group, and it is known there is a direct correlation between lymphophenia and the risk of dying from COVID-19.

Magagnoli and al. acknowledged themselves in their paper that this disparity is present.

That did not prevent them from concluding the way they did anyway.

2) They present 2 distinct tables:

A) A first one, where there seem to be no difference in outcome between HCQ groups and the 'control' group, with poor statistical significance (for instance, p=0.79).

But see the point 3) to understand why that has occurred.

Furthermore, in this table, the time at which the treatments started before intubation is provided (while being excluded from table B).

B) A second one, where they omitted to provide information about when the treatment began.

To Raoult's team, the combination of:

-> this omission,

-> the fact that the time *before intubation* was provided in table A),

-> and the values of the medical indicators reported, congruent with that of patients treated after intubation

indicates that the data for that second table comes from patients that were intubated for some time before receiving an HCQ treatment, in desperation.

However it is known that at that stage, cytokine storm is occurring, and that HCQ alone cannot help patients anymore.

3) 30% of the 'control' group, astonishingly, actually received Azithromycin, even though Azithromycin alone can be a treatment (Gautret, 2020), and has been show to work in vitro (Andreani, 2020).

[It has been shown that Azithromycin has an HCQ-like effect for SARS-CoV-19, i.e. that it acts both as an antibiotic staving off secondary pulmonary infections and as a booster of the HCQ mechanism of action, which is the reason why the HCQ+AZ combination is so effective.]

-> For Raoult and al., this is close to being scientific fraud.

To Raoult and al., Magagnoli and al. use these 3 scientifically dishonest 'results' to push forward the idea that HCQ is dangerous, even though it has been reported to be one of the safest drugs available based on data from over 1 million patients (Lane, 2020).

In conclusion, Raoult and al. state that this is a good example of how, in these times, some are ready to publish results that do not stand up to any methodological analysis, in order to 'prove' a given set of predetermined desired claims.

So this news article, published on the 21st, is lying in the following way: that 'study' is not the largest outlook available so far. The day before it was written, a study on a much larger number of patients came out, and it shows HCQ+AZ works.

People knew the team of Raoult was about to publish the main body of their article (they published the summary about a week ago).

So out of nowhere, a crappy 'study' comes out on the same day, and the AP only choose to report on that one, and not on the other one?

Several weeks ago, it became apparent that they had set up the WHO studies to make the HCQ fail, by not applying the recommended regimen, and only applying it to people that are too far advanced for it to work.

They delayed the start of those studies, and the results are not going to come before the end of April at least. So they had to come up with something else, I suppose. And they decided to 'forget' to mention the other study, which shows the opposite (it works, no serious side effects, etc.), in their news release.

Does this surprise anyone?

And is it not funny that they decide to rely on a 'study that was not a rigorous experiment', after discarding all the studies that showed it was effective for not being 'rigorous enough'?

The mechanism of effectiveness has been established in vitro, and confirmed in vivo by following the evolution of the viral load in patients.

Is it not obvious that this 'news release', and probably also the sudden release of this 'scientific paper', are politically motivated? Can you find an article in the US press about the paper of the team of Raoult? It is written in English, they have no excuse for not reporting on it.

The most commonly reported mainstream media account of the creation of the Coronavirus suggests that it was derived from an animal borne microorganism found in a wild bat that was consumed by an ethnic Chinese resident of Wuhan. But there appears to be some evidence to dispute that in that adjacent provinces in China, where wild bats are more numerous, have not experienced major outbreaks of the disease. Because of that and other factors, there has also been considerable speculation that the Coronavirus did not occur naturally through mutation but rather was produced in a laboratory, possibly as a biological warfare agent.

Several reports suggest that there are components of the virus that are related to HIV that could not have occurred naturally. If it is correct that the virus had either been developed or even produced to be weaponized it would further suggest that its escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology Lab and into the animal and human population could have been accidental. Technicians who work in such environments are aware that “leaks” from laboratories occur frequently.

There is, of course and inevitably, another theory. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate Bill Bryan, speaking at the daily White House task force briefing Thursday, says controlled tests on the virus under certain conditions concluded that the risk of transmission from surfaces outdoors is lower during daylight and under higher temperature and humidity conditions.

Sunlight will cut the virus's ability to grow in half, so the half-life will be 2 minutes, he said.

He added that the virus lives longer on non-porous services, and that for the UV rays to kill the virus, it must be in direct exposure to sunlight. He used the example of a playground set, where the top bars exposed directly to the sunlight may not be hospitable to the disease, however, the bars underneath that aren't exposed could carry risk of the virus' transmission.

Western Spy Agencies Investigating Wuhan Scientist Highlighted By Zero Hedge In January

Western intelligence agencies are "looking closely at the work of a senior scientist at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Peng Zhou," as part of a joint international investigation into the origins of COVID-19, according to the Daily Telegraph.

In a stunning expose, the Australian newspaper reports that "the Five Eyes intelligence agencies of Australia, Canada, NZ, UK and US, are understood to be looking closely at the work of a senior scientist at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Peng Zhou, as they examine whether COVID-19 originated from a wet market or whether the naturally-­occurring virus may have been released from the level four laboratory in Wuhan that was studying deadly coronavirus pathogens from bats."

Of course, the name of Peng has been long familiar to our readers, and would have been familiar to far more people had Twitter not decided to arbitrarily suspend the Zero Hedge account over a report exposing Mr. Zhou.

As we reported in January - posting publicly available professional contact information and suggesting people ask him about the outbreak near his lab - Peng, head of the Bat Virus Infection and Immunization Group, sought to hire two post-doc fellows last November, who would be tasked with using bats "to research the molecular mechanism that allows Ebola and SARS-associated coronaviruses to lie dormant for a long time without causing diseases."

One press release from his lab was titled: "How bats carry viruses without getting sick." Via the Telegraph:

It can be revealed that Zhou — the head of the Bat Virus Infection and Immunity Project at the Wuhan Institute of Virology — spent three years at the bio-containment facility, Australian Animal Health Laboratory between 2011 and 2014, where he was sent by China to complete his doctorate.

During this time, Zhou arranged for wild-caught bats to be transported alive by air from Queensland to the Australian Animal Health Laboratory in Victoria where they were euthanised for dissection and studied for deadly viruses.

His work was funded jointly by the CSIRO and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It examined bat immunology and the role of interferons and how “bats are rich reservoirs for emerging viruses, including many that are highly pathogenic to humans and other mammals” and “many of which cause significant morbidity and mortality in humans and other mammals.”

Western intelligence is also looking into the work of the original "Bat Woman" Shi Zhengli, a colleague of Zhou who is the director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that researchers at the WIV had collected bats in a cave over 1,000 miles away in Yunnan which carried COVID-19.

Also disturbing is that the lab had been operating in part on a $3.7 million grant from the US government.

In mid-April, the Washington Post reported that the US State Department received two cables from US Embassy officials in 2018 warning of inadequate safety at Wuhan Institute of Virology, which was conducting 'risky studies' on bat coronaviruses, according to the report - which notes that the cables have "fueled discussions inside the U.S. government about whether this or another Wuhan lab was the source of the virus."

According to the Telegraph, the revelation comes as Australian politicians are ramping up pressure on China to cooperate with the international investigation into the origins of the novel coronavirus. Australia's official position is that the virus likely originated in the Wuhan wet market, however they are now considering whether the virus escaped fom the Wuhan Institute of Virology due to human error - a theory which US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo endorsed last week when he told Fox News: "Look, we know it began at one [lab], but we need to figure this out."

Canada’s current Chief Public Health Officer appeared in a recently resurfaced 2010 documentary in which she advocated using mandatory “tracking bracelets” for people who refuse to take a vaccine after a virus outbreak.

Theresa Tam has become one of the faces of Canada’s response to coronavirus, appearing in public service announcements encouraging social distancing.

On 23 April, she was was appointed by Justin Trudeau to be a member of the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force, despite having previously asserted that there was “no reason to be overly concerned” about coronavirus back in January.

As late as January 29, she told Canadians, “It’s going to be rare, but we are expecting cases.”

Now a 10-year-old clip of Theresa Tam is recirculating during which she comments on how the government could respond to people who refuse to take a mandatory vaccine after a virus outbreak.

What if you wanted to communicate covertly? And suggested an odd title, or an old book that you knew wasn’t available online as an ebook. Could you manipulate the search results where the searcher knew to download the first suggested ebook in the results which contained the communications? To safeguard, you could give an old publishing date which would likely deter most people.

I thought “Sinking of the Titanic: The World’s Greatest Sea Disaster” sounded interesting, and wondered how the book was formatted and illustrated. When I searched for it as an ebook, I got a very odd first result with an odd title and a 1951 date.
